The question of which ceilings are best done in an apartment arises both among the owners of comfortable private houses and among the owners of urban housing who have decided to improve their property. When choosing a material for such a finish, it is imperative to take into account the characteristics of each of the premises.

For example, the bathroom has a specific humid microclimate. And in order for the ceiling decoration in this room not to become completely unusable after a couple of years, it must have the appropriate characteristics. The kitchen also has its own characteristics, and not every facing material is suitable for it, since the ceiling will require regular maintenance. For ceilings in residential areas, the most important quality is the environmental cleanliness of the finish, of course, along with decorative appeal.

If not so long ago the most widespread Since the types of ceiling finishes were whitewashing or painting with oil paint, today a very wide selection of various materials is presented in hardware stores. And many of them are quite suitable for use both in wet rooms and in living rooms with a normal microclimate.

Criteria for choosing materials for apartment ceilings

So, the materials that can be used to decorate the ceilings of the apartment rooms must meet certain requirements. Only by taking into account these features, you can get a high-quality, durable ceiling that fully corresponds to a particular room.

Speaking, for example, about a bathroom, the impact on the ceiling surface of constant wet fumes is taken into account, and the likelihood of direct contact with water drops is not forgotten. In addition, a certain risk cannot be excluded that your bathroom may be flooded by neighbors living on the floor above. Another feature of this room is the often alternating temperature changes, which also adversely affect many finishing materials.

Finishing the kitchen ceiling must be resistant not only to moisture, but also to vapors containing grease and oils, as well as to elevated temperatures.

Other rooms may have their own characteristics.

It is best to immediately try to formulate some of the requirements that ceilings in the premises of the apartment should have.

  • Moisture resistance - this quality is necessary for the bathroom and kitchen. The ceiling finish should not be saturated with moisture, withstand the effects of hot steam, without getting wet or deformed.
  • The material must comply with sanitary and hygienic standards, that is, not be a breeding ground for various bacteria, mold, fungus. Finishing should not release toxic substances into the surrounding air. The ceiling must not become a source of dust distribution. This rule must be observed in any premises of an apartment or residential building.
  • The durability of the finish, that is, the material should not age quickly, undergo chemical or biological degradation, destructuring, corrosion. This quality is important for all types of ceilings, but special meaning takes in rooms with a specific microclimate - in the bathroom or kitchen.
  • The surface of the material must lend itself to light wet or dry cleaning in living quarters and to regular washing with detergents. household chemicals in the bathroom and kitchen.
  • Some ceiling finish materials have the ability to contain leaks or the ability to quickly dismantle in emergency situations. These qualities are especially useful for ceiling decoration of bathrooms and kitchens. However, they will also be useful for other rooms, since, unfortunately, pipe breaks can also occur in the heating system. And such emergencies can spoil any repair.
  • aesthetic qualities. Finishing should have a neat and attractive appearance and be in harmony with the wall decoration. These qualities are considered by many apartment owners to be the main ones. It should be noted that they are really of great importance, since the appearance of everything depends on them. design decoration premises. Big, but not always decisive ...

In order to be able to decide on the choice of material for finishing the ceilings in the rooms of the apartment, it makes sense to consider the characteristics of the most popular modern materials used for this purpose.

The main types of ceilings

Varieties of ceilings can be divided according to their basic design and according to the material used for their manufacture and decoration. So, ceilings can be suspended and stretched, glued or painted with different materials.

  • For stretch ceilings, plastic material is used in the form of large canvases. Its installation is carried out using special equipment.
  • Suspended ceilings are metal or wooden structure- a frame on which various material is fixed or laid - it can be plastic, metal or wooden lining, polymer panels, artificial glass, chipboard, drywall and other materials.

Suspended ceilings can be single-level or multi-level. In addition, ceiling surfaces with several levels can be combined with tension structures.

  • For gluing the surface of a flat ceiling, wallpaper, polystyrene foam tiles, fabrics, natural original coatings, such as cork, are used.

Today, the most popular in design developments can be called plasterboard ceilings, including multi-tiered ones with original illumination, and stretch surfaces. Both the first and second options are very difficult to mount on their own, without special skills and special equipment.

For bathrooms, the most popular finish is plastic panels and stretch fabrics.

Ceiling height in the apartment

To choose a material for finishing the ceiling in any of the rooms, you need to calculate its height, and take into account the fact that some designs involve a significant reduction in it. Therefore, in apartments with low ceilings, the arrangement of suspended systems becomes always expedient, since such ceilings will create an oppressive impression.

The ceiling height standard in Soviet-era apartments is most often 2400 ÷ 2500 mm, in modern new buildings this parameter is sometimes increased to 3000 mm.

If the apartment has low ceilings, and they need to be made visually higher, then it is worth choosing materials that have a small thickness and are fixed directly to the floor surface, or those that have a reflective effect, for example, light stretch ones.

If the ceiling height is high enough, then this allows you to place between the finish and the ceiling heat and (and) soundproof material, mask in this area engineering Communication- electrical wiring or ventilation ducts.

Color design is also of great importance in order to visually lift the ceiling. For this purpose, there are several design techniques:

  • You can smooth the junction of the wall and ceiling by choosing materials of the appropriate shades, that is, finish the ceiling and walls in the same color.
  • Another option is to line the ceiling with reflective material.

  • Gives a good effect stretch ceiling with a 3D spatial pattern, such as a sky with clouds.

Now let's move on to a more detailed consideration of the varieties of ceilings. This will make it much easier to make a choice for specific premises of the apartment.

Dropped ceilings

As mentioned above, one one of the most popular ceiling cladding options V different rooms apartments in last years steel various types of suspended structures. They are of high quality and look very good, and have a considerable number of advantages.

Advantages and disadvantages of suspended ceiling structures

TO winning qualities ceiling finish with suspended structure, can include the following:

  • With the help of suspended structures, you can easily level the surface and hide numerous flaws, which abound even on concrete floor slabs.
  • Various communications can be hidden under the false ceiling elements. Thanks to this possibility, there is no need for chasing walls or ceilings.
  • Many designs are easy to carry out installation work.
  • In some cases, it remains possible to dismantle the cladding if it is necessary to repair or replace some fragments of the cladding
  • Good indicators of durability.
  • Such ceilings have a very aesthetic appearance.
  • Provides extensive mounting options various systems lighting.
  • A variety of materials used for ceiling cladding allows you to consider several options and make the best choice.

False ceilings have their own flaws , which you also need to know, choosing one of these options:

  • When installing a suspended structure, the ceiling in the room becomes lower. This is especially noticeable in apartments, where it is already cramped in this regard.
  • Some types of suspended structures are able to pass steam into the space between the finish and the ceiling. In the absence of proper ventilation, condensation can form in this space, creating favorable conditions for the emergence and reproduction of mold colonies, which will be quite difficult to get rid of.
  • A suspended ceiling is not able to protect the premises from leaks that may occur in emergency situations.
  • By doing self-assembly high accuracy of calculations and assembly work will be required.
  • Some types of suspended ceilings will cost the owners very expensive.

Varieties of suspended structures

Suspended ceilings can be made of different materials and their design may differ slightly from each other:

  • Slatted ceilings and coverings made of plastic or natural lining.
  • Cassette or modular design.
  • Solid suspended ceiling.

Suspended rack-type ceiling and lining

This design consists of panels made in the form of long panels or lining, which can be made of plastic, wood, steel or aluminum. The panels are fixed solid or with the necessary clearance to a metal or wooden frame fixed to the main ceiling and/or walls.

The frame can be fixed directly to the ceiling or lowered at a certain distance from it. The latter option is often chosen when decorative cladding it is necessary to place communications, or it is planned to install recessed fixtures.

Drywall prices

Frame parts installed along the perimeter of the walls are very often decorative elements at the same time, as they give a neat look to the joint line.

As mentioned above, slats or lining for ceiling cladding are made of different materials. In addition, they can be connected to each other in different ways. So, an absolutely smooth common surface can be formed with barely noticeable (and often - and not noticeable at all) seam lines. Another option is a relief lining with recesses along the entire length, which are sometimes given a different color. And, finally, sparse installation of panels is also practiced.

  • Plastic panels most often today they are used for lining the ceilings of bathrooms, as they have qualities that correspond to the microclimate of this room. They also find their application in corridors or hallways.

Plastic lining has the following characteristics:

— high resistance to moisture;

- resistance to temperature changes;

- light weight of the material, which simplifies its installation;

- ease of care for the finish;

— material safety;

- long service life;

- finishing does not require additional coating decorative materials throughout the entire period of operation;

- affordable price of the material, which allows, if desired, to change the finish without dismantling the frame structure.

Plastic panels are produced in different widths and with different surface structures. It can be matte, glossy, embossed or metallic.

This material can be combined in color on the entire surface of the ceiling, or a specific area of the room can be highlighted with a certain color. Quite often, in a plastic one-color lining, the gaps along the joints are decorated with a molding that has a steel or gold color.

How to mount the ceiling of plastic panels yourself

If, the choice fell on the plastic ceiling, then this work can be considered quite feasible for independent execution. You will need instructions for carrying out installation work, and can be found in the article of our portal.

  • Wooden lining. Some owners of apartments and houses, preferring the so-called eco-style, choose wooden lining for decorating rooms. And mount it not only on the surface of the walls, but also on the ceiling.

As you know, wood has numerous advantages, the main of which are the environmental friendliness of the material, aesthetic appearance, long service life, resistance to temperature changes.

The disadvantage of this material is its hygroscopicity, therefore, if a decision is made to decorate a bathroom with natural clapboard, then reliable protection against moisture will be required. For this purpose, wooden panels are impregnated with an antiseptic before installation, natural oils or coated with a special heat-resistant wax. Such substances have moisture-repellent properties, and, creating a film on the wood surface, reliably protect it from steam penetration.

A good option would be wooden plank and for finishing the bedroom and corridor. In the bedroom, wood, due to its natural properties, will create a favorable microclimate and allow the walls to “breathe”. Especially such a ceiling would be appropriate in these rooms if the walls are also lined with natural wood.

  • Metal slatted ceilings. Panels for it are made of steel with an anti-corrosion coating or aluminum, with a thickness of 0.4 to 1.0 mm. The width of metal rails can reach up to 300 mm, which greatly speeds up the installation of trim on the frame. But there are products of other widths, for example 80 ÷ 120 mm, so there is a choice - as you like. The length of the panels can vary from 2000 to 6000 mm.

The outer coating of such a metal cladding may be embossed or smooth, solid or perforated. Most often, all types of metal panels, except for those that have perforations, are used for lining the bathroom ceiling. Perforated panels are not suitable for both the bathroom and the kitchen, as various fumes will begin to collect in the space between the cladding and the ceiling, as a result of which an unpleasant smell will soon appear in the room.

This material is well suited for the ceiling of the hallway. Less commonly used metal material for living rooms. But this is not excluded if such styles as, for example, hi-tech are chosen for their design.

The metal version of the finish can have a different external coating - glossy, matte, polymeric color spraying, mirror or imitating the textured pattern and color of wood.

This material almost completely meets the requirements for finishing used in wet rooms:

- It does not absorb moisture at all and even repels it, so it will not become a breeding ground for various bacteria.

- The metal does not emit toxic substances into the environment, so the cladding can be called environmentally friendly.

— The material is resistant to temperature changes.

- Facing is designed for a long service life, as well-made panels change their original "commodity" appearance.

- The surface is easy to care for, it can be wet cleaned using household chemicals.

The disadvantage of steel panels is the need for mandatory treatment of the cuts of the rails with an anti-corrosion compound, otherwise corrosion can spread further. Aluminum products are quite expensive.

Modular suspended structure

This type of ceiling is a suspended structure of panels made of different materials. It can be frosted or mirror glass, metal, plastic, gypsum fiber lightweight boards or even moisture-resistant drywall. The fundamental difference is that these panels (tiles) fit into suspended cell metal frame special design.

The frame for a modular ceiling differs in that it is open. That is, its profiles are calculated not for fixing on them panels with the help of one or another fastener, and on laying from above into formed cells. This version of the suspended ceiling is much easier to install and repair, since any panel can always be replaced with a new one.

Frame guides for a modular ceiling are made of electrogalvanized steel or aluminum with a thickness of 0.4 ÷ 0.8 mm. The front, that is, the surfaces of metal profiles facing the room, are covered with a protective and decorative polymer layer of different shades or with a metallized paint composition. This makes it possible to choose the colors of the frame and panels - the guides become a neat frame for decorative plates.

A classic example of this design are the popular Armstrong ceiling systems.

This type of construction can be applied in any of the rooms, if it corresponds to its design solution for its design.

  • Panels from compressed mineral and cellulose fibers. They are not heavy at all, although often the surface is very similar with plaster finish. However, the surface texture of such plates can vary greatly.

Such panels give the ceiling an accentuated accuracy. In addition, many of them have perforation or a special surface texture, which gives them the property of very effective sound insulation.

The cost of such panels cannot be called high, and they are quite suitable for the category widely available meterials.

  • metal panels modular ceiling have the same characteristics as the rack metal version. Their advantages include a wide selection of shades, ease of installation.

  • Mirror panels can be made of water-repellent glass or polished metal. Therefore, such suspended ceiling elements perfectly resist moisture and hot steam.

The reflective surface of the mirrored ceiling visually expands the space of a small bathroom or hallway. In addition, mirrored panels reflect light from lighting fixtures located on the walls of the room, greatly increasing their glow.

Mirror ceiling panels are produced in different sizes and colors. They can be perfectly smooth or have various textured patterns on their surface.

  • "Glass" modular ceilings. In this version, the role of the panels is performed by acrylic translucent plates, on which a matte finish is applied. It can be white or colored. The surface of such pseudo-glass panels are often decorated with large or small drawings, which brings a special originality to the interior design. If a matte “glass” ceiling is chosen for installation, lighting is immediately provided for it. With its proper placement, it will not only create brighter lighting in the room, but also highlight the ornaments on the glass.

This version of the ceiling finish does not absorb moisture, is easy to clean and retains its appearance for many years. Similar "glass" ceilings can be installed in the bathroom, hallway, and sometimes even in the living room.

Due to the fact that matte pseudo-glass the panels are made of acrylic, they are very light in weight, so they can be easily and safely mounted on their own. In addition, the acrylic ceiling is absolutely safe to use - even if it falls from a height, the panel will not break and cause serious injury. Smooth "glasses" are easy to clean, and they are resistant to various household hygiene products, with the exception of those containing abrasive additives.

Spotlights are built into cassette suspended ceilings without any problems. In addition, manufacturers also provide for the production of special lighting devices (luminous panels or fluorescent lamps), the dimensions of which exactly match the dimensions of the frame cells.

Solid ceiling cladding

Solid ceiling sheathing is usually made in cases where it is necessary to level the surface of the main surface. At the same time, in the gap between the ceiling and the cladding, it is possible to lay heat-insulating or sound-proofing material.

Solid sheathing can be applied in any room of an apartment or house. However, if it is installed in a humid room, that is, in a bathroom, bathroom or kitchen, then any of the used facing materials it will be necessary to treat with antiseptic and priming compounds.

This design of the ceilings implies the presence of a frame that is attached to the ceiling and is most often made of wooden beam or special galvanized metal profiles. Used for cladding glass-magnesite sheets, plywood, chipboard, OSB, but drywall has gained the most popularity in recent decades.

This version of the ceiling sheathing almost always requires additional finishing. It will include sealing the seams between the sheets, impregnation with primers, and then painting or wallpapering.

From drywall on the ceiling, multi-tiered structures can be created that allow you to place wiring and lighting of any kind inside them. However, to mount such a ceiling is not at all Just, and without having a certain experience, the ability to work not only with drywall, but also with metal profiles, and without a properly drawn up project in advance, it’s not worth it to randomly take on this matter. Qualitatively cope with this work under the power of specialists. But if you still decide to try your own capabilities, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the technology for performing such installation work. We can provide information support in this matter.

Do you want to try your hand at designing and installing a suspended multi-level plasterboard ceiling?

If yes, then first you need to take a short theoretical course. Well, then, in work, strictly follow the technological instructions. You will find both in a very detailed, literally to the smallest detail, publication of our portal.

Stretch ceiling

Stretch ceilings are especially well suited for apartments with low rooms. They reduce the height of the room by only 40 ÷ 50 mm, thanks to the installation of special profiles on the walls around the perimeter of the room, on which an elastic or fabric fabric will be stretched.

Stretch ceilings can be fabric or made of PVC film. To determine which of them will seem better, it makes sense to familiarize yourself with the features of both options.

Stretch ceilings from PVC films

This version of stretch ceilings can be divided into several subspecies according to the structure of the created surface:

  • Glossy films have a reflective effect and quite pronounced glitter.
  • Semi-matte ceilings in their texture resemble frosted glass.
  • Matte stretch ceilings do not have a reflective effect, and in appearance they are difficult to distinguish from a smoothly plastered surface.

  • Mother-of-pearl films create spectacular soft play of colors.
  • Cloths imitating a suede surface have a velvety texture, due to which the lighting of the room is dimmed and evenly distributed throughout the room. This option is perfect for a bedroom or living room.
  • Satin coating options tend to reflect the light flux falling on them from a natural light source, that is, windows, as well as from lighting fixtures.

  • Ceilings with a 3D image of a starry or cloudy sky are popular.

TO positive qualities PVC films

  • The elasticity of the film allows you to create various forms on ceiling surfaces.
  • The material is environmentally friendly, does not emit toxic substances into the air, does not attract or accumulate dust. These qualities make it possible to use PVC films for facing the ceiling in children's rooms and bedrooms.
  • Wide range of colors and decoration allows you to choose the material to any design style of the room.
  • The width of the canvases can vary from 1200 to 3200 mm, which allows the material to be used for ceiling cladding in modern apartments with a standard layout.
  • The canvas perfectly hides all the flaws in the surface of the capital ceiling, and its installation is carried out in the shortest possible time.
  • The material is impact resistant chemical substances, to elevated temperatures.
  • PVC does not absorb odors, so this ceiling can also be installed in the kitchen.
  • The surface of the ceiling is easy to clean, so it is easy to care for it.

  • The canvas can withstand loads up to 100 kg / m², so if a leak occurs from the top floor, the water will remain in ceiling material, which capable of stretching under its weight. After removing the water, the ceiling can be restored.
  • The design allows you to hide the necessary communications under the canvas.
  • The canvas does not change its appearance during operation.
  • More affordable price than fabric stretch ceilings.

However, it is impossible not to mention the shortcomings PVC canvases, which include the following points:

  • The design cannot be installed independently, due to the need to use special equipment.
  • Stretch ceiling from PVC films it is undesirable to plan for installation in rooms where the temperature can drop to +5 degrees or less.
  • The film in the stretched state is unstable to mechanical damage, and it is easy to damage it with a sharp object.
  • If you have to connect two canvases with a weld, then it remains a little noticeable on the surface of the ceiling.
  • Polyvinyl chloride is not a "breathable" material, which disrupts the natural air exchange in the premises of the apartment.
  • With strong heating, the canvas can be deformed, so it is not recommended to build powerful lighting devices into it.

Stretch fabric ceilings

Not many owners of apartments or houses know that, in addition to PVC stretch ceilings, there are also fabric fabrics. And manufacturers represent in the construction market wide enough choice of these materials. This option differs from its PVC "brother" in a number of operational characteristics.

Fabric webs are divided into two types according to the structure of their surfaces:

  • The textured version has in its structure a relief embossing of the fabric. The canvas consists of two layers, which form the protruding pattern.

  • Satin canvas has a polymer base and a structural pattern of natural satin fabric. Due to the fine-grained structure, the stretched fabric acquires a mother-of-pearl effect, and it is enhanced by properly installed lighting.

Fabric stretch fabrics have the following positive qualities :

  • High strength characteristics.
  • Material resistance to low temperatures. Fabric fabrics retain their performance characteristics when the temperature drops even to -40 degrees.
  • The material does not deform, does not crack when the humidity and temperature characteristics of the air change.
  • Fabric canvases can be dyed. To do this, use special paints based on acrylic. Repaint the surface of the material without losing it operational opportunities can be up to five times. In addition to the usual even coloring, ceilings of this type can be painted with various ornaments, which expands the possibility of their use in different styles of rooms.
  • Unlike polyvinyl chloride, fabric fabrics are breathable, so when they are used indoors, natural air exchange is not disturbed.
  • The undoubted advantage is the aesthetic appeal of the material. The structural structure of the surface of the canvases makes the design of the room richer, adding respectability to it.
  • The width of the fabric sheets reaches 5000 mm, which allows it to be used in fairly wide or long rooms without any seams whatsoever.
  • The refractory qualities of the material are acquired by him thanks to a special impregnation.
  • Ecological cleanliness of canvases. Fabric ceilings are made from natural materials that do not contain toxic substances.
  • Long service life, which in any case should be more than 10 years.
  • Fabric ceilings are installed in a "cold" way, unlike PVC sheets, the installation of which involves the use of special powerful heating equipment. Assembly work on the installation may well be carried out alone.

disadvantages fabric ceilings can be considered the following features:

  • Not so big, in comparison with PVC (at least - for now) the choice of colors and ornaments.
  • The complexity of coloring the material.
  • The fabric version of stretch ceilings, unlike PVC, is not able to hold water in case of emergency, so this finish will not save the room from the flood. At the same time, the fabrics are able to retain moisture in their structure for up to 48 hours. An exception to this characteristic is the products of the company "Cerutti", which has good moisture resistance.
  • Fabric canvases absorb and retain odors well in their structure, so it is not recommended to use this type of finishing material in the kitchen.
  • Attracting and holding dust - this quality reduces the scope of fabric ceilings. They are not recommended for use in apartments where people with a predisposition to allergic reactions live. According to this quality, the fabric version loses to PVC canvases.
  • Re-installation of dismantled fabric sheets is not possible.
  • The high price of fabric ceilings, which is explained by the naturalness of the raw materials used for their production.
  • The lack of proper elasticity of the material does not allow it to be used for decorating ceilings of irregular or “patterned” shapes.

Finishing ceilings directly on the surface of the floor

Stucco ceiling finish

This method of leveling and finishing ceilings can be called traditional, since it has always been used in apartments of high-rise buildings - it is still used today. The emergence of innovative materials for surface preparation and finishing plasters has greatly simplified this task.

Plastering a ceiling is a very complex and time-consuming process that requires high skills. Therefore, to conduct it in the absence of experience is unlikely to succeed. On the contrary, you can only thoroughly spoil the surface, so much so that it will be extremely difficult to fix anything.

To level the ceiling, putties and plaster mixtures based on gypsum or cement are used. Gypsum plasters and putties are supplied manufacturers of special additives that prolongs the curing of mixtures from 5÷7 to 30÷45 minutes, which allows an experienced plasterer to perform a quality job.

The result of properly carried out finishing work, in compliance with all technology requirements, should be a perfectly even and smooth ceiling. Further, on its surface is applied or glued decorative trim- it can be whitewash, paint, wallpaper or other similar material.

The difficult task of plastering the ceiling

If, nevertheless, the “itch of independent creativity” is insurmountable, and it is decided to try your hand at this difficult task, then before starting work, we recommend that you carefully read the article on our portal.

TO "pros" ceiling plastering can be attributed to the following points:

  • The ceiling practically does not change its height.
  • For finishing several different types of materials can be used.
  • In an emergency, a high-quality ceiling coating will retain its evenness and smoothness. The only thing that will need to be done is to dry the ceiling and replace the decorative trim.
  • Relatively affordable price for materials and work.

"Cons" stucco finishes also have a lot. These include:

  • When carrying out plastering work in the room there will be a large amount of dirt and dust, so the room will have to be freed from all pieces of furniture in advance.
  • To hide communications in ceiling surface, before plastering work, it will be necessary to carry out gating, while when installing suspended or stretch ceilings, this process is not required.
  • Surface plastering is long enough process, since it is necessary to wait for the drying of each applied layer. Therefore, the repair of the apartment will be delayed for a longer period.

In addition to leveling, special plaster decorative mixtures are used to finish the ceiling, which are applied to the surface after it has been leveled. This process can be called art without much exaggeration, so only professionals can handle it. It should be noted that not every plasterer has the ability correct application this material on walls and ceilings. Therefore, choosing a master, it will be quite logical to get acquainted with his portfolio, see previous works.

Decorative plaster in the apartment - from the category of exclusive finishes

It is difficult to say whether it is worth taking on the independent conduct of such work. In order to be able to imagine what varieties look like, what they are, and how difficult the process of applying them is, you should refer to the profile article of our portal.

Wallpapering on the ceiling

Despite the fact that many consider the decoration of ceiling surfaces with wallpaper to be unfashionable, a long-gone option, it is still successfully used in design art today. Thanks to innovative developments, Russian and foreign manufacturers produce many types of wallpaper that have a real opportunity to transform the ceiling surface literally beyond recognition.

So, today on sale you can find non-woven, vinyl, paper, liquid wallpaper, as well as glass and even more exotic options. Some of them are designed for staining and are designed to be able to carry out this process several times.

Wallpaper can be divided according to the type of pattern - it can be applied in the correct order with a certain step, or it can have a chaotic arrangement. To simplify the task of pasting the ceiling, the best option there will be wallpapers in which you do not have to select a pattern, since it will be quite difficult to do this.

How not to get confused in the variety of wallpapers?

The range of these finishing materials nowadays it is extremely wide. And it can be difficult for an inexperienced consumer, who is conceived to focus only on the decorative qualities of paintings, to choose the right option. A special publication of our portal should help the reader with the question.

So, if the surface of the ceiling quite smooth, then you can paste over it with one of the types of wallpaper. Such a finish will cost relatively inexpensively and may well be produced independently. With the expectation of the future, you can choose wallpaper for painting, that is, when changing the design of the room in the future, the canvases can be repainted in a different color.

Wallpaper for painting can have a pronounced embossed pattern, and with careful pasting, the joints between the canvases will be almost invisible.

Prices for non-woven wallpaper

non-woven wallpaper

TO virtues ceiling decoration with wallpaper include the following:

  • A wide range of wallpaper choices, both in terms of material of manufacture and decorative design.
  • Quite affordable price compared to many other types of ceiling finishes.
  • The work on pasting is carried out in one or two days, that is, there will be no big delay in the timing of the repair.
  • Wallpaper can be applied in any style direction that is chosen for decorating the room.
  • Among the existing types according to the material of manufacture, you can choose environmentally friendly options for paintings, these include paper, non-woven, liquid or glass.
  • Non-woven wallpaper with a relief pattern and large enough thickness, perfectly mask small flaws on the ceiling surface.
  • Wallpaper on the ceiling gives the room a special coziness and comfort.

TO negative moments associated with the decoration of the ceiling with wallpaper, include the following:

  • Some types of wallpaper are not resistant to ultraviolet radiation, that is, they tend to fade. On the ceiling, however, straight Sun rays they can get into it, but nonetheless.
  • Wallpapers are not suitable for finishing ceiling surfaces in rooms with high humidity, as they will peel and bubble over time.
  • Such finishes, as a rule, are not very durable. The truth is, it is always easy to change.
  • Wallpapers of almost all types are able to attract dust and absorb odors.

Styrofoam boards

But this option, if not disingenuous, can really already be attributed to the "materials of yesterday." Nevertheless, the high affordability of such a department still keeps it among the very popular ones, so let's stop our attention on it.

Expanded polystyrene facing ceiling plates are produced by stamping or extrusion. They can be very thin or have a thickness of up to 12 ÷ 14 mm, if we consider this parameter together with the height of the relief pattern located on the surface.

The extruded material is of higher quality and therefore has a higher cost. If the pores of expanded polystyrene are clearly visible on the surface of the stamped tile, then the products made by extrusion are absolutely smooth and more durable.

To choose a quality finishing material, when buying it, you should make a thorough visual inspection products. They must have even right angles, which will be the key to their quick and high-quality mounting on the surface.

It is worth making another experiment to control the quality of the material. To check the selected variant of the tile, you must take it by its corner and slightly shake it up and down. The product must not break or crumble. Of course, this material has low fracture strength, but the tile must still withstand the load from such an experiment.

Today in specialized hardware stores you can find various options polystyrene foam tiles by surface characteristics:

  • Smooth or embossed, and the relief can have different depths.
  • The color options of the tiles are varied - it is white or plain one color, or several shades that smoothly transition from one to another.

  • Plates can be square or rectangular. Square products are most often produced with dimensions of 400x400, 500x500 and 600x600 mm. Rectangular slabs can have dimensions of 600×300, 700×300, 700×400 mm.

The framing of the surface lined with polystyrene foam tiles is made with special skirting boards made of the same material, which are also produced with different relief patterns or in a smooth version. In addition, special corners and sockets imitating stucco elements are used to decorate corners or the area where lighting fixtures are located.

This material, as well as all the others, has not only a number of advantages, but also its very significant drawbacks.

TO virtues the following features of the material can be attributed:

  • The very small weight of the products and the rather compact dimensions make it easy to glue them to the ceiling, and it will not be difficult to carry out this process on your own. The only thing that is recommended to be done to simplify the installation process is to accurately mark the ceiling, starting from its middle or from the lighting fixture, which is located with one or another offset to one side or the other from the center of the ceiling surface.

  • Affordable price for products, which allows you to purchase such a finish even for families with low incomes.
  • The ability to create a neat and quite aesthetic design of the ceiling in a short time - the installation of products can be done in one day.

Flaws ceiling finishes with polystyrene boards are very significant, and this should definitely be borne in mind.

  • Expanded polystyrene can not be called an environmentally friendly material. In addition, when heated, and especially burning, it releases into the environment extremely dangerous volatile compounds that can cause toxic damage to the respiratory system and the central nervous system. It is for this reason that in many countries expanded polystyrene is strictly prohibited for use as a finish and insulation in residential and public buildings, in vehicles.
  • The plates are combustible, and when exposed to open fire, the material begins to melt and spread. Together with the fluid mass, fire and poisonous smoke spread, the dangers of which have already been mentioned.
  • Quite difficult care of the ceiling covering, as this must be done very carefully, in order to avoid damage to the surface of the cladding.
  • The tiles located around the lighting fixtures may turn yellow over time, it will not be possible to get rid of such manifestations. However, yellowing can also begin in other parts of the ceiling - polystyrene foam does not differ in high resistance to external influences and durability.
  • With temperature changes, the tile may peel off the surface.
  • The material has a porous structure, so it absorbs various odors, greasy fumes, nicotine resins well. It is not possible to remove these substances from expanded polystyrene. In addition, the plates attract dust, and if they have a deep relief, then it clogs into it. If the dust is dry, then it can be removed with a vacuum cleaner, and if it is oily, then it is unlikely to get rid of it. Therefore, this material is not recommended for use on kitchen and bathroom ceilings.

In a word, apart from affordable price and ease of installation, such a finish cannot boast of anything else. Recommend it for use - the tongue does not turn.

So, we have finished reviewing the main types of ceiling finishes available for rooms in the apartment. In summing up, we can once again emphasize that when choosing a material, it is necessary to take into account several factors that will directly affect the optimal solution:

  • Financial opportunities. by the most affordable option finishing is pasting the surface with wallpaper or polystyrene boards. But cheap is still very rarely become high-quality and durable.
  • Ceiling flatness. If the ceiling is uneven and requires overhaul, then plastering with further application of a decorative layer is suitable for its decoration. Great solution will become a suspended or stretch ceiling. These options are able to level any surface.
  • Ceiling height. If the ceiling is low and, moreover, uneven, then putting it in order is possible only by plastering. Then the surface can be painted or pasted over with one of the selected materials.
  • If the ceiling is high the most optimal there will be one of the false ceiling options.

Now, knowing about the main technologies that are currently used for finishing ceilings, you can weigh their advantages and disadvantages, evaluate the quality of the ceiling surfaces of the apartment, as well as your financial capabilities. After that, it makes sense to work on the project (even if in the simple execution), make calculations, and then go to a specialized store to buy everything you need.

At the end of the publication, we suggest watching a video with an overview options ceilings for the apartment.

Video: Recommendations for choosing a ceiling for rooms in an apartment

In a very short period of time, stretch ceilings have moved from outlandish novelties, expensive, mysterious and affordable units, to the usual finishing material - they have become part of the interior design of an apartment (house). When faced with a problem for the first time, many customers do not know what stretch ceilings are, how to choose high-quality, beautiful and functional canvases suitable for a specific type of room. About this - in this article.

The aesthetic perception of the ceiling and its service life are determined by many factors: the type of canvas, its texture and color, the presence of seams, etc. All this depends on the manufacturer.

Manufacturer

An extraordinary situation has developed on the market of services for the installation of stretch ceilings: next to decent performers, unscrupulous firms have appeared that mislead customers. Unfortunately, there are more and more of them every year. The deception is connected, first of all, with the origin of the tension fabric and, consequently, with the price and quality.

1. Cheap canvas is given out as the products of Russian enterprises from the middle price sector, in particular, the Kazan plant of artificial leather, which stopped the production of PVC in 2012. In fact, Russian enterprises register the brand of linen on the territory of the Russian Federation, and handicraft products, which are very cheap, are imported from China.

It is not possible to check the manufacturer - no inscriptions, signs or logos are applied to PVC film and polyester by well-known manufacturers. If they appeared, they were delivered much later and not in production.

Only the company Pongs (Germany), in the fight against forgery, began to label some types of film, and even then, since 2017, it has been doing this irregularly and for certain types of products.

Attention: the inscriptions on the tube or packaging can be anything - manufacturers often do not wind the film into rolls on their own and definitely do not pack it in bags for specific premises. This is done at dealerships or when preparing the material after measurements in special workshops.

2. Medium-priced materials, for example, HALEAD (China), are presented as expensive ones from Europe. In progress are:

  • Non-existent companies and brands (Belgian POLYPLAST - there is no official website confirming the existence of production, MALPENSA S.R.L. from Italy - films for ceilings are not listed among the types of products);
  • Certificates of conformity, allegedly confirming the French or German origin of the goods - mandatory certification in Russia has been canceled since January 1, 2010 (the documents presented were obtained at the initiative of the seller (installation company), and therefore their reliability does not always correspond to the true state of affairs, and bearers do not bear any administrative or criminal liability for this);
  • Sale of products not coming to Russian market(German RENOLIT profession or French BARRISOL, which can only be bought online at a price of 90 Euro/m2).

To protect the buyer from fakes, to suggest which stretch ceilings to choose for an apartment, we present a table with a list of manufacturers, country of origin and some product features.

In Russia, PVC film is produced only by IVNIIPIK, which is of low quality and inexpensive price. Experts do not recommend using such a film in an apartment.

If in terms of product quality, its color and other consumer parameters, stretch ceilings from Europe do not require any comments, then on the canvas from China, it should be said especially. There are two groups of manufacturers here: small handicraft workshops that produce "consumer goods" that can be bought inexpensively and several powerful enterprises that have caught up with, and in some respects surpassed, France and Germany in terms of the quality of the linen. For example, the Chinese company MSD is the only one in the world that produces PVC film wider than 5 m, which does not require welding.

Texture

To achieve the correct organization of space while maintaining the style of the interior, you can use the texture of finishing materials. According to the texture, the surface of all types of stretch fabric can be divided into three large groups.

  • smooth;
  • embossed;
  • perforated (used for special types of lighting located in the space between the ceiling overlap and the stretched film).

Manufacturers diversify the texture, as a result of which the ceiling can be classified into three more groups:

  • Glossy (PVC film). The reflectivity of this type of surface is 95%, in connection with which the shiny ceiling works like a slightly muted mirror. On the one hand, it visually expands the space, on the other hand, it is difficult to fit into the interior with a lot of furniture. The disadvantages also include the reflection of street light, headlights of passing cars, a working TV, i.e. everything that causes glare that negatively affects the human nervous system;
  • Matte (polyester, PVC film and fiberglass - the new kind material in the construction market)- a classic design of the ceiling space, suitable for any room size and interior. The choice of synthetic fabric allows you to realize any fantasies - unusually paint or apply an image, use a variety of lamps, beating the room with an unusual light flux;
  • Satin (PVC with embossed satin fabric)- middle option between gloss and matte finish. It has absorbed all the best from all types of stretch fabric - it creates an atmosphere of comfort and tranquility. Many users on the forums note that under such a ceiling it is best to indulge in relaxation and meditation. Perhaps that is why the satin ceiling is one of the most expensive types of PVC stretch fabric.

Specialists distinguish several additional subspecies:

  • metallic, with a luster characteristic of metal, changing shades and color saturation under various types lighting: daylight and artificial;
  • mother-of-pearl, with overflows characteristic of pearls;
  • suede - imitates natural leather with very short villi;
  • marble with a smooth surface and veins characteristic of this ornamental stone;
  • silk - resembles a natural fabric with a muted pattern.

To figure out which stretch ceilings are better in texture, we advise you to look at the work: "". It was also held here comparative analysis PVC films and polyester fabrics according to consumer parameters.

Number of levels

You can beat the ceiling space and design ideas not only with the texture or color of the stretched material, ceiling lighting, but also with a different number of its levels.

single level ceilings - the most common form of finishing the ceiling space - are easy to install, mounted in absolutely any room. In this case, they can be combined with drywall. Combining with other types of canvas, for example, PVC with a fabric canvas, will not work: you can’t glue them and stretch them on a baguette.

Multilevel ceilings make it possible to combine different materials and lighting designs, play with color contrast, visually change the size of the room in any direction: up, in width or length, divide the room into zones, etc.

Some publications state that not all types of canvas can be used for a multi-tiered ceiling. However, if you look closely at the figure below, you cannot find at least one reason why this cannot be done.

Special mention should be made of the 3D ceiling, one of the variations of the multi-level design of the ceiling space. Its installation is very complicated, and therefore expensive, but the effect covers any costs.

Color

The color scheme of the ceiling space also affects the completeness of the accepted style of interior design - masking interior flaws or emphasizing design solutions, and influencing the psycho-emotional state of the apartment owners.

How to choose the right stretch ceiling according to the color scheme? White color visually increases the height of the room, but it does not negatively affect the mental state of a person, unlike glossy ceilings.

It is combined with any style of interior design, from classic to modern. Appropriate in the corridor, hallway, living room, nursery, etc. Applying a picture or photo printing diversifies the appearance of the ceiling, giving it in many cases a weightless airy, “floating” look.

Beige color well suited to the bedroom, if you want a calm emotional tone. To create a romantic mood, psychologists advise choosing various shades of blue and pink. Light brown canvas emphasize the business style of the office.

WITH in red and its variations need to be very careful. On the one hand, magical properties are attributed to him to cause love and fill the body with energy, on the other hand, it is the color of aggression. As an option - small inserts in canvases of other colors.

Bright colors are well suited for the nursery, kitchen and bathroom: blue purple, orange, green. At the same time, in the nursery they should be muted with white paint, in the kitchen and bathroom - in rich colors. Dark purple, steel and black glossy ceilings look good in high rooms. On dark blue the cloth in the nursery is very impressive "starry sky".

Canvas type

The service life of a stretch ceiling, its aesthetic perception is affected by the choice of the type of canvas:

  • polyvinyl chloride film (PVC);
  • polyester (synthetic fabric);
  • fiberglass.

Film ceilings, as finishers call PVC sheet, are the most popular among customers. They are made from polyvinyl chloride with a thickness of 0.15 to 0.35 mm, a width of 1.2 to 5.1 m. They have many advantages over other types of canvas:

  • variety of colors and shades - more than 100;
  • a large selection of textures: glossy, matte, satin, metal or marble, etc.;
  • a high level of elasticity, despite the small thickness, according to the passport, they withstand a pressure of 100 kg / m 2;
  • water resistance - able to hold up to 200 liters of water when flooded from above for 7-8 hours;
  • versatility - harmoniously fit into any style and room;
  • effectively combined with other types of ceiling decoration: stucco, plasterboard;
  • affordable for all segments of the population, with the exception of satin material;
  • practical - due to the absence of static voltage, they do not attract dust and soot, they are easy to clean;
  • environmentally friendly - do not emit harmful chemicals;
  • can be restored when sagging - just warm it up with a heat gun (in fairness, it should be noted that this method is not used in practice, since it does not give a lasting effect).

PVC film also has disadvantages:

  • requires careful maintenance - there is a high probability of damage to a highly stretched surface;
  • care skills are needed - divorces may appear, which are very difficult to remove on their own;
  • afraid of alcohol-containing detergents;
  • small punctures are closed with subsequent decoration, but the repair will still remain noticeable, the best way out is complete replacement canvases;
  • the glossy surface negatively affects the psycho-emotional state of a person, therefore its use is recommended in rooms where the presence of people is limited in time;
  • the presence of seams;
  • under the rays of the sun or under the influence of powerful lamps on the ceiling are formed yellow spots, regardless of the texture and color of the canvas;
  • afraid of low temperatures, cracking - manufacturers do not guarantee the preservation of consumer properties of the canvas at temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius.

Synthetic polyester fabric, impregnated with polyurethane, is produced with a thickness of 0.25 mm, a width of 1.5 to 6 m. This is a seamless material, only with a matte texture. Among other advantages, it should be noted:

  • higher strength compared to PVC - about 20 times;
  • good soundproofing properties;
  • easy installation - no heat gun needed;
  • wide temperature range of application, from +80 to -40 degrees Celsius;
  • does not support open combustion;
  • let air through (breathe), due to which the formation of condensate is excluded;
  • ideal for artistic painting and repeated painting;
  • the possibility of installing powerful lamps.

Among the cons:

  • high cost (mainly 3-4 times, in some cases several tens of times);
  • absorb odors, which excludes its use in the kitchen;
  • only dry wiping from dust and cobwebs - not recommended by manufacturers wet cleaning due to possible divorces, which are almost impossible to remove on their own;
  • there is no way to reinstall, unlike PVC film;
  • does not retain water during flooding from above;
  • does not stick together and does not weld, and therefore in rooms with a width of more than 5 m, a combination with plasterboard or a multi-level ceiling is needed;
  • the scarcity of colors due to the matte texture;
  • in rooms with high humidity (bathroom) special antibacterial impregnation does not always save from mold and fungi.

fiberglass ceilings have high strength, waterproof. Designed for painting after installation. They are very expensive. Rarely found on sale.

Lighting type

Lighting in stretch ceilings is one of the most important elements of interior design of rooms. On our site, separate works will be devoted to him. Here we note only a few points:

  • the possibility of using built-in lamps and LED strips;
  • limiting the power of incandescent lamps for a film of 40 W, fabric - 60 W;
  • for halogen lamps, permitted parameters: 20 W for PVC and 35 W for polyester;
  • By LED lamps There are no restrictions or recommendations.

Fastening system

The quality of the stretched ceiling and its price also depend on the ceiling installation system. PVC film is stretched using a harpoon - a special device welded to PVC and a wedge. Fabric ceiling only with a wedge-shaped system (no possibility to attach a harpoon). Both systems have varieties:

  • harpoon gapless;
  • clip-on (wedge-shaped).

Firms installers are actively promoting the harpoon system, explaining to customers that it is the best and the only real (European). At the same time, the price factor is connected - the installation of the ceiling with a harpoon system is cheaper. But such a message is not entirely conscientious in all respects, including the total cost of the work. Let's figure it out.

Advantages harpoon system:

  • fabric stretching works are carried out within 3-4 hours, i.е. very fast;
  • training of workers is carried out in an accelerated manner - 2 weeks are enough, which, in our opinion, is decisive for large companies;
  • invisible bypass of heating pipes;
  • the possibility of re-attaching after flooding (unfortunately, the resulting sagging of the ceiling is no longer removed);
  • possibility of installation in hard-to-reach places, for example, over cabinets, air conditioning, without dismantling or moving furniture around the room.

Flaws:

  • a long preparatory period associated with cutting the canvas and welding the harpoon - 6-8 days;
  • more expensive cost of a stretch ceiling as a whole, due to an increase in the price of a canvas with a welded harpoon (stretching work itself is cheaper compared to a wedge-shaped system);
  • large sag of the canvas after 3-4 years of operation due to the inability to adjust the tension during the installation of the ceiling;
  • fabric webs are not stretched;
  • a narrow rubber insert does not cover the gaps between the profile and the wall everywhere - very often the elastic band looks wavy in the corners or even falls out of the baguette.

The main problem of the harpoon system is the sagging of the web. There are no technical and technological ways to eliminate the sag. Heating the ceiling with a heat gun restores the level of the ceiling surface, but for a short time (several months). Conclusion: from about the middle of the service life, the ceiling begins to sag noticeably, like a bag.

Advantages wedge-shaped system mounts:

  • no preparatory period as such. Measurements are taken, and on the second day the ceiling is installed;
  • lower cost of a stretch ceiling as a whole, in comparison with a harpoon system;
  • the degree of tension is regulated, and therefore the sag formed during operation is not visually striking;
  • suitable for all types of canvas;
  • the insert (plinth) is much wider than the elastic, which allows you to hide all the flaws of the wall - it lies close to it, without gaps and cracks.

Cons of fixing the ceiling canvas with wedges:

  • requires a lot of experience from workers - they must feel the degree of tension of the canvas with their fingertips;
  • there is no way to stretch in the narrow spaces between the ceiling and the furniture - it must be moved;
  • bypass pipes are always noticeable;
  • does not re-tighten.

The baguette can be plastic, which is cheaper, and aluminum. The service life of a metal fastener is longer and the appearance is better.

Our advice: based on the positive and negative aspects of each type of ceiling installation, it is necessary to order a wedge-shaped system for attaching the web to aluminum baguettes. It is suitable for all types of linen (over time, without changing the baguettes, you can switch from PVC to fabric), it is cheaper, it is installed very quickly (no time is wasted on welding the harpoon), the quality of the ceilings is higher. But this is if the stretching of the canvas is carried out by professionals.

Design

The design of the ceiling space with a stretch fabric allows you to use a wide variety of forms and design methods. It is not possible to consider them all in one work. Let's focus on the most spectacular: photo printing.

This method has no limits for the imagination of the designer or the customer. On the ceiling, you can depict a blooming garden or the sun setting in the sea, beautiful birds or butterflies, various, including fantastic, patterns, copies of famous frescoes from cathedrals and temples, photographs and pictures from a personal archive, and much more.

Modern technologies make it possible to print a high-resolution pattern on seamless canvases up to 5 m from PVC or polyester impregnated with polyurethane. A wider pattern can also be applied to a PVC film, but in this case it will be necessary to connect the sheets by welding. Experienced specialists have learned in such cases both to precisely join the pattern and to hide the seam. All work on applying photo printing consists of three stages.

  1. The fabric is cut in accordance with the measurements of the room - the process is no different from the usual installation of a stretch ceiling.
  2. An image is selected. Its reduced copy is transferred to the canvas that will be installed in the apartment to see how accurate and bright it will look. If necessary, a correction is made colors to obtain a high-quality, beautiful picture. In extreme cases, the image changes. After the printed copy is approved, the most important point: Print a full-size drawing.
  3. The image is printed using special devices very quickly, after which the canvas is sent to a special dryer. Drying time depends on print depth and color saturation. After that, harpoons are attached to the canvas if it is planned to use a harpoon tension system. If another mounting option is chosen - wedge, the canvas is packed and transported to the apartment for installation.

Drawing is carried out by a special large-format printer in three possible ways:

  • eco-solvent;
  • latex;
  • ultraviolet.

The name "eco-solvent" printing method was due to the ink used: solvent. They are fade resistant and do not fade. Allows you to achieve high detail images. Used for 3D printing. This is the most popular photo printing method.

The method also has a drawback - a slight toxicity. Therefore, drawings applied using this technology are undesirable to mount in children's rooms. Latex printing uses ink that is harmless to human health. Therefore, drawings made by this method can be used in any room: nursery, bedroom, kitchen, and other rooms.

The ink is of such density and contrast that the texture of the fabric is not visible through them, and the image looks bright and juicy, it shows the most small parts drawing. There are no restrictions on the width, except for the size of the room. Photo printing is carried out with special equipment.

When using the UV printing method, there are both pros and cons.

  • the quality of the canvas does not matter;
  • colors do not fade in the sun;
  • the composition of the coloring matter is safe for humans, which allows you to place UV patterns in any room;
  • can be washed with chemicals.

There is one, but significant, minus - the print width is 2 m. This requires adjusting the pattern, welding the canvases and masking the seam if the image is wider, which significantly increases the price of the work performed. Drawing a picture on a matte and satin texture will cost from 1500 rubles / m 2, glossy more expensive - from 1800 rubles / m 2. It will affect the cost of printing and application technology, but this must be clarified with specific contractors.

The presence of seams

Professionals and customers have an ambiguous attitude to the presence of welds on a PVC sheet (fabric materials cannot have them in principle). Some consider them the main drawback of the entire system - they are visible on monochrome painted ceilings, however, at a certain viewing angle, which spoils the whole view. Others, on the contrary, consider the ability of film ceilings to be welded as their great advantage, allowing:

  • stretch the canvas in rooms of any width;
  • glue a film of different colors, achieving a different visual effect - here the seams already act as decorative elements;
  • increase the strength of the film surface in the middle of the ceiling - it sags less.

For those who consider the weld a problem, Chinese manufacturers have put on the construction market pvc film more than 5 m wide.

Tips for choosing a stretch ceiling for specific rooms

The above are considered general principles choice of stretch ceilings. However, each room has its own requirements. Therefore, when determining which stretch ceiling to choose for the hall, nursery, bathroom, etc., it is necessary to take into account various nuances, which we will discuss below.

Hall

The living room is the largest room in the apartment. This is where the family spends a lot of time. Therefore, the design of the ceiling space in the hall should be given special attention - it should not irritate any family member and at the same time harmoniously fit into the environment: floor, walls, furniture.

Suitable for any kind of canvas with any texture. The color scheme should be chosen from calm, neutral tones. Soaring ceilings are very effective and soothing - the squeak of recent fashion.

Bedroom

Here, as in the hall, you can use any kind of material, but the texture must be handled very carefully. Not everyone will like to watch everything that happens in the bed on the ceiling, plus the glare of street light. Therefore, before installing glossy ceiling need to think more than once.

The priority is calm or romantic colors on satin. Photo printing looks very stylish, but the images should be soothing, made in pastel colors.

Children's

In the children's room, it is desirable to stretch the fabric ceiling. There are three pluses here:

  • polyester is difficult to damage during noisy games;
  • the canvas breathes, providing natural air ventilation;
  • bright patterns look spectacular on a matte surface, and besides, the “night (starry) sky” looks beautiful on such a canvas.

Kitchen

What stretch ceilings are best for the kitchen? Here right choice make it easier. Only glossy PVC film. It does not absorb odors, is waterproof, does not attract dust and volatile grease, and is fairly easy to clean. The color scheme is bright and saturated.

Bathroom

Bathroom - small room(if we are not talking about a cottage). Therefore, here the glossy surface of the film will visually expand the scope of the room, allowing you to create bright, cheerful images. Marbled texture looks very respectable. The use of the film also has practical significance:

  • in difficult conditions, retain consumer properties;
  • will protect against flooding, where the risk of flooding is greatest - due to large sizes after the descent of the water, the film sags, but you can see this only by looking closely.

Hallway

Entrance hall, with small size, is the only place in the apartment where you can use all the known ceiling design solutions: a different number of levels, the play of light, any kind of canvas with different textures, the effects of a floating ceiling space, etc. There are only two limitations here: the level of imagination and the financial component.

The choice of the type of stretch ceiling does not mean at all that there will always be a holiday in the soul. Much depends on who and how will do everything.

Choosing a contractor company - pitfalls along the way

Many will probably shrug their shoulders in surprise at what problems can arise when hiring performers. Look, there are dozens of companies offering their services in various advertisements. Do not be lazy and call a dozen. But not everything is so clear-cut here.

In France, with its population of just over 65 million, only about 20 firms install stretch ceilings. In Russia, in a city with a population of about 300 thousand people, there are much more of them. It is very difficult to exist in a highly competitive environment.

Therefore, competing installers use various marketing moves, while not always conscientious, bordering on fraud. Therefore, in the Russian Federation, it is more important than anywhere else to know how to choose a stretch ceiling installation company that performs work quickly, efficiently and without overpayments from the customer?

1. In advertising, as well as in telephone conversations, a very low cost of the canvas is indicated: from 90 rubles / m 2. Here the main task is very simple - to convince the customer to call the measurer to the house. During the measurements of the premises, the representative of the company will very convincingly explain why it is impossible to install cheap film.

Practice shows that this trick almost always works. The most interesting thing in this situation is the following: the company has such a canvas, but it does not intend to install it, even if the customer insists. Under various pretexts, the installer is likely to leave the order.

In order not to fall into a similar situation, we will give the cost of a high-quality canvas from European and Chinese manufacturers. The average quality of the canvas from European companies is:

  • PVC film - 300-500 rubles / m 2;
  • polyester (synthetic fabric) - from 600 rubles / m 2 to 6,000-7,000 rubles / m 2;
  • PVC with photo printing - 800-2,000 rubles / m 2.

Chinese products of well-known companies (MSD, HALEAD) are 20-30% cheaper.

2. The price indicates only the cost of installing the canvas. At the end of the work, it suddenly turns out that it is necessary to pay extra for the baguettes and their fastening to the wall. This is a hidden deception of the customer. Unfortunately, it is impossible to prove the fact of fraud in court - formally, the executor of rights. The fault of the customer that he did not fully clarify all the conditions for installing a false ceiling.

Note: price running meter metal baguette - from 180 rubles, rubber insert - from 120 rubles / m., the cost of fixing the baguette to the wall from 120 rubles / m. The minimum price for turnkey work is from 700 rubles / m 2.

Yes, we should not forget about lighting. It is also not included in the price.

3. When installing a stretch ceiling in 2 rooms, it is proposed to install a canvas in the third room for free. The key word here is canvas. You will have to pay for the work. And the cost of the film is only 12-15% in the price structure.

4. If among the proposed species tension material there are no Chinese-made products, it is better to refrain from cooperating with such a company. Here, the probability that all the material is from a Chinese manufacturer tends to 100%.

5. It is not advisable to conclude contracts for the installation of films of Russian brands - they do not exist in nature (do not seriously consider IVNIIPIK products as a brand). Some firms register their own trademarks and sell Chinese stretch ceilings under their brand. The authenticity of the material can only be confirmed by quality certificates ISO9001 and ISO14001, and not of Russian origin.

6. Last and most important: never prepay.

Conclusion

In this work, we examined how to choose a stretch ceiling, what types of lighting, fabric fastening, design, etc., which will allow you to choose the most effective and effective material for your ceiling.

No less responsible should be taken to the choice of the installer company. Almost all the pitfalls along the way are discussed above, which will avoid many troubles. We hope that the time spent reading the material will be of practical use.

Modern ceilings are distinguished by their splendor, variety of design solutions, beauty and aesthetic appearance. Stretch ceilings are the most popular.

What are stretch ceilings? What are they made of and what material is preferred? And what, in the end, to make a choice? Let's try to understand these questions.

What are the advantages of stretch ceilings?

Firstly, there is no need to prepare the old ceiling for the installation of a new one. Labor costs and financial costs are not advisable to level it and plaster it. Only the most neglected cases can make an exception: the construction of the house is outdated, the plaster is constantly falling off the ceiling. Irregularities, if they are on the old ceiling, they will not spoil the look of the new one.

Secondly, the installation of the ceiling is a fairly quick procedure (on average, installation will take about 3 hours).

Thirdly, good service life. With careful handling, the service life of stretch ceilings reaches 15 years, while they retain their original bright colors.

Fourthly, the installation of stretch ceilings is started after the “dirty” repair work has been completed, and their installation is accompanied by a relatively small amount of debris.

Fifthly, stretch ceilings have a very beautiful appearance. Invoices can be completely dissimilar: marbled, leather, wood, and so on.

Films are glossy and matte, a variety of different colors and shades, with and without a pattern, they can also glow in the dark, and if you want, they will be translucent. Such a ceiling can be decorated with spotlights or opt for standard chandeliers.

In general, the ceiling can be for every taste, and for any financial wealth!

How to choose a stretch ceiling?

Stretch ceilings are panels that can be made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film or polyester fabric. The material chosen by the customer is fixed according to a certain technology on a special profile, which is located below the main ceiling of the room. Each of the materials used for this type of ceiling has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Therefore, the ceiling should be chosen in this order:

  • consider what materials stretch ceilings are made of;
  • study the advantages and disadvantages of each material, compare with the characteristics of the room in which the stretch ceiling will be used;
  • decide on the design of the ceiling;
  • determine the cost of expenses;
  • choose a reliable contractor.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film ceilings

In most cases, PVC film is used as a material for stretch ceilings. Film width 1300 - 2200 mm. If the ceiling is wider, then the film panels are subject to welding (according to a certain method). The seam, of course, will be, but barely noticeable.

For classic film ceilings color palette surprises with its diversity (hundreds of tones and semitones). Film ceilings can be both glossy and matte.

artistic views film ceilings (photodecor) are a creative solution: the ceiling is not only original shape and color - paintings are depicted on the ceiling (day / night sky, bouquets, landscapes), abstractions. Such ceilings do not differ from classical ones in quality or the need for additional care, but in terms of cost they are much more expensive.

Advantage Features:

  • strength and durability;
  • has excellent moisture resistance, the ceiling is perfectly washed;
  • the possibility of using the most daring design solution(the ceiling can be several levels, and stepped, and, in accordance with the shape of the frame, an arch), it can be given any shape (both a circle, and a square, and a crescent, and a heart), as can be seen in Figure 4;
  • glossy film provides a mirror effect, thereby visually enlarging small rooms;
  • does not attract dust, thereby keeping the room fresh.

Flaws:

  • temperature restrictions: does not tolerate temperatures over 65 0 С, because stretches when the temperature rises above this threshold, begins to lose shape and, accordingly, sag, and when the temperature drops down from the mark of 0 0 С - film material becomes rigid, its fragility increases;
  • film ceilings are also afraid of sharp objects.

Stretch fabric ceilings

Polyester fabric used for ceilings is impregnated on both sides with polyester polyurethane composition. The elasticity of this type of fabric is much higher than that of PVC film, and its stable wide size distinguishes it favorably (roll width 4000 m, material thickness 0.25 mm). The width is optimal and almost always allows you to make a stretch ceiling without seams. If it is necessary to mount a ceiling of a wider size, then the material webs (polyester fabric) are connected using a special profile (it cannot be welded). The color of such a ceiling is initially matte white, after installation it can be painted, tinted, applied with a pattern.

Advantages:

  • high durability in operation;
  • does not cause allergic reactions, does not emit unpleasant odors;
  • at low temperatures (withstands -30 0 C) retains its characteristics.

Flaws:

  • it is impossible to apply to any design version of the ceiling (for example, to a ceiling of a non-standard design form);
  • color choice is limited.

Features of installation of stretch ceilings

Installation of stretch ceilings is based on a fairly simple principle: the material for the ceiling is stretched to the required size of the ceiling of the room, then tightly fixed.

If the ceiling needs to be given some form, then the ceiling space is divided into zones, and this form is displayed using drywall elements.

Installation principles:

Electrical wiring is laid first.

Then a baguette is installed (it is also a mounting profile) 5-10 cm below the ceiling.

After that, the fixed film is heated up to 60 0 C. Heating is carried out using a heat gun. Under the influence high temperature The film is stretched, do this until it is stretched to the required size. The finished canvas is fixed around the entire perimeter of the ceiling using a mounting profile (baguette). When the canvas has cooled down, it is stretched, getting the perfect surface of the ceiling.

Heating can only be excluded if polyester fabric is chosen as the ceiling material.

The canvas, with the help of a special cord, is tightly fixed in a baguette, then it is stretched, and all excess is cut off.

Only after the completion of the installation work associated with the film ceiling, it is allowed to proceed to the connection of lighting fixtures.

Can I install a stretch ceiling myself?

The installation of such ceilings is a “very delicate” matter, requiring certain skills and tools. Therefore, it is better to turn to professionals, at least, so that later you do not have to suffer or be disappointed in unsatisfactory work, and also do not regret wasted money.

Currently, there are a lot of offers on the market from companies specializing in the provision of services for the installation of stretch ceilings, there are also many companies that produce materials for stretch ceilings. Ideally, it would be good to conclude an agreement with a company that will provide the entire complex necessary work, "turnkey", from the production of the material to the installation of the product.

Prices, of course, differ depending on the type of material, its manufacturer, quality characteristics.

The main thing is to take into account that a careful choice of a contractor company is already a guarantee of the quality and durability of the operation of your stretch ceilings, regardless of the materials chosen.

23.07.2014

However, such a variety gives rise to the problem of choice: material, color, texture, manufacturer of stretch fabric...

We have done a tremendous job and systematized in one article 5 main factors that you need to consider before buying a canvas.

And, first of all, which stretch ceiling to choose, you need to decide on the basis of whether a particular material is pleasant to you and whether its characteristics are suitable for the room.

Here are the conclusions we came to.

1.
2.
3.
4.

1. How to choose the material of stretch ceilings depending on the characteristics of the room?

The most popular materials for the manufacture of stretch ceilings are PVC(PVC) canvas and polymer fabric.

Which material is better to choose depends on:

(a) Indoor climate:

PVC film Textile
Low temperature At temperatures below 5 ° C, it loses elasticity, may warp or crack Not afraid of low temperatures
Heat Even with a single heating to 70 ° C and above, it deforms, becomes soft, stretches Not afraid of high temperatures
high illumination Will not fade for 10 years or more. Coating color in normal conditions lasts up to 30 years Will not fade for 10 years or more
Humidity Not afraid of water, therefore suitable for baths, kitchens When damp, the appearance deteriorates, the canvas can stretch
Draft On large canvases in a draft or when opening / closing the door, waves can go On canvases of large sizes, waves rarely form.

Note: high-quality film and fabric ceiling sheets do not support combustion. They lose their shape, melt, but after cessation of contact with the flame, they quickly fade. They acquire this property after impregnation with flame retardants. Cheap materials burn well and are therefore dangerous.

The anti-fire properties of the canvas are confirmed fire certificates. If there is no such certificate, it is better to choose a more expensive canvas.

(b) Room widths

Depending on what kind of stretch ceilings are in terms of width and quality of the material, they are divided into economy and premium classes.

Standard width of PVC ceiling films:

  • Russian production- 1.4 m. These are glossy, matte, colored canvases of the economy segment, which are produced under the C-light and Eline brands at the Kazan and Ivanovo artificial leather factories.
  • Chinese made- up to 6 m. There are about a dozen factories of Asian firms in China. In addition, the production facilities of some Belgian and Italian brands are located here, so there is no need to be afraid to buy Chinese canvases. PVC film up to 3.5 m wide belongs to the economy segment, from 3.5 to 6 m - to the premium class.
  • French production- up to 1.5 m if the film is glossy, and up to 2 m if it is matte. These are Alcor Draka, Extenzo and CTN brands. All film released by the French most often belongs to the premium class (it costs 2-2.5 times more than the economy segment). Holograms from the manufacturer or serial numbers of the canvases are placed on the back of the French-made PVC film.
  • German made- up to 2.7 m. Cloths of this width are produced by Pongs Textil GmbH. You can distinguish the film produced at its factories by the embossed brand name and the presence of a repair kit decorated with the stigma of the factory. Renolit produces a narrower film - up to 2 m wide.
  • Belgian production- from 3.6 to 5.6 m. This is the Polyplast brand, which offers glossy, matte and satin films in more than 120 shades.

Please note: all original film and fabric canvases are supplied with quality and fire safety certificates. If there are no such certificates, then you are being offered a fake.

Standard width of fabric rolls for ceiling:

  • French production- 2.1 - 5.1 m. The Clipso brand is matt stretch ceilings made of knitted fabric, the maximum weight of which is 240 g / sq. m.
  • German made- up to 5.1 m. This is the Deskor brand, most of whose paintings belong to the economy segment.
  • Swiss Made- up to 5 m. The premium brand Cerutti produces polyester-fabric fabrics coated on both sides with a polymer composition that protects them from leaks and damage. On top of the polymer coating, a waterproof varnish is applied on the reverse side, and a finishing varnish is applied on the front side, which protects against dirt, dust, splashes. As a result, the tensile structure looks almost like a plasterboard suspended ceiling.

(c) Design decisions

In this case, which stretch ceiling is better - fabric or PVC, depends on the project developed by the designer.

PVC film is used:

  • in multi-level structures;
  • to create complex patterns and shapes;
  • on ceilings that will have to be pulled over time (for example, the owners of the premises often like to refresh the interior);
  • when installing ceiling structures such as "starry sky", when the ceiling covering is pierced with dozens of LEDs about 0.5 mm thick;
  • in design with glossy or mirror elements.

Fabric used:

  • when creating classic interiors;
  • in rooms with constantly open windows (due to drafts, the film will “play”);
  • in spacious rooms, when you need to avoid seams on the ceiling;
  • if the ceiling is mounted in a room from which furniture and other interior items cannot be removed. PVC film heats up during installation, so there is a risk of damaging furniture polish or glass;
  • in rooms where the temperature periodically drops below 5 - 10 ° C.

(d) Features of the operation of the premises

PVC film Textile
Removal of contaminants Easy to clean with a soft cotton, fleece, microfiber cloth. Under normal conditions (except for the kitchen), you can wipe it once every 3 years with water or a weak solution detergent. Acetone should not be used Not washable, dirt is difficult to remove. You can use a mild detergent or alcohol solution. Acetone must not be used.
Puncture resistance Afraid of punctures (with a fishing rod, bullets from children's pistols) and cuts (with a construction knife when cutting wallpaper) Resistant to punctures and minor cuts
impact resistance Resistant to blows with blunt objects (reviews on the forums indicate that corks from New Year's champagne do not leave any marks on them) Resistant to impact with blunt objects
flooding with water Not afraid of flooding. Withstands 100 liters (10 buckets) of water per 1 sq. m ceiling, without letting water into the room. Restores shape after removal of water Retains water up to 72 hours. After drying, there are stains from substances dissolved in water (rust, plaster), so the fabric needs to be repainted or changed
The appearance of reflections, glare Glossy or mirrored PVC surfaces reflect glare from working TVs, monitors Matte fabric surfaces do not glare

In one of the experiments, a PVC ceiling film with an area of 10.5 square meters. m withstood more than 500 liters (50 buckets) of water.

When the canvas held about 120 liters (12 buckets) of water, several holes appeared, from which droplets began to ooze.

Nevertheless, the fabric is not torn, but continued to sag under the ever-increasing weight. Stretched like a drum, the film was torn only by contact with an uneven floor surface.

Note: if you are flooded to drain the water, the canvas cannot be pierced. It is necessary to block the flow of water, and then adjust everything that has accumulated to the nearest hole for the lamp. To do this, it is best to call the masters, so that after draining the water, they dry the space between the film and the ceiling with a building hair dryer.

Summary: Which manufacturer is better, for example, Belgium or Germany, can only be decided taking into account the specific project, width, texture and other properties of the canvas.

  • PVC films protect the room from flooding from above, are easy to clean, are not afraid of blows with blunt objects, allow multiple installation, are used to create multi-level structures and complex geometric shapes.
  • Fabric canvases they are not afraid of temperature changes, drafts, do not glare, look expensive (sometimes like drywall), provide seamless installation even in spacious rooms. Both types of high-quality ceiling coatings retain their properties for 10 years or longer, are fireproof and aesthetic.

Now let's look at real reviews about PVC and fabric stretch ceilings.

Let's start with film ceilings. Here is one of the reviews:

But what the master says, who only installs fabric stretch fabrics:

2. We evaluate the seams and texture

Polyvinyl chloride film is hundreds of colors, specular effects, metal, glossy, matte, satin textures, bright images and the ability to create unusual lighting solutions. PVC sheets are solid and welded.

They are welded when:

  • the width of one strip of film is not enough to cover the required area;
  • the design involves a combination of two or more colors.

Welded PVC sheets are as strong as seamless ones.. To connect 2 films of different colors, they are superimposed on each other and placed under an electrode that presses on them with a force of 600 kg. A current is passed through the films compressed with such force. Under such conditions, the films are soldered at the molecular level, and subsequently the seam is the most durable place in the PVC ceiling.

Welds visible on monochromatic surfaces when viewed from a certain angle. If you make the stretch ceiling multi-colored, no one will pay attention to the seams, because they will turn into an element of decor.

Fabric ceiling cloth consists of polyester threads impregnated with polyurethane. Simply put, it is a synthetic fabric impregnated with rubber. It looks like ordinary fabric - it seems soft and pleasant to the touch. You can order a canvas with a finished drawing or decorate it with photo printing of personally selected pictures.

Fabric ceilings - usually seamless. The seams on such surfaces are clearly visible, so they need to be passed off as design elements: made symmetrical, hidden by lamps or placed in the middle.

Note: PVC and fabric ceiling canvas with photo printing can be used to decorate walls and openings. It is mounted using the same technology as the ceiling.

Summary: PVC fabrics provide a much greater variety of colors and textures, while fabric fabrics avoid seams. A good seam does not weaken the structure; on the contrary, it is the strongest in this area.

3. How to choose the material of stretch ceilings for different rooms?

To determine which stretch ceiling is better to choose for the kitchen, living room, bedroom and other rooms, you need to remember what happens in this room most often and how this can affect the condition of the ceiling.

Peculiarities PVC ceiling fabric ceiling
Kitchen Cooking and other kitchen work: oil splashes, increased pollution, moisture from the sink PVC film can be cleaned of dust, grease, it is not afraid of moisture, so any type of canvas and method of its installation will do. Pollution is difficult to wash off, prolonged exposure to moisture is undesirable, so the fabric ceiling for the kitchen is not suitable
Separation of the area for cooking and eating Layered design with different types lighting: above working area- bright, above the dining room - muted
Bedroom Calm, relaxing interior Plain or decorated with photo printing matte or glossy canvas, preferably seamless, you can use mirrored canvases Satin or silk canvas, plain or photo printed, with imitation of matching materials
Children's Special "childish" atmosphere, increased likelihood of puncture or rupture A canvas decorated with photo printing, consisting of several parts. This solution is optimal in terms of replacement - if one part of the canvas is broken, you can only replace it, and not the entire ceiling Canvas embellished with photographs. If it is damaged, you will have to change the entire ceiling
Living room The possibility of glare from the TV Any canvas that fits the design. If the appearance of glare is undesirable, glossy canvases are excluded.
Corridor Small space, punctures with fishing rods and other objects are possible Any canvas that fits the design Any canvas that fits the design
Bathroom, bathroom Small area, high humidity The ceiling in the bathroom allows any experiments with textures and colors. Not afraid of moisture

Since most often stretch ceilings are installed last, when the repair is almost completed, you need to check how the pattern and texture of the canvas is combined with wallpaper or paint on the walls.

You can finally decide which stretch ceiling is better: matte, glossy or satin, only by viewing live samples of materials. Even the best photo can incorrectly convey the shade or texture of the canvas.

Expert advice: a punctured or cut stretch ceiling can be saved. The most important thing is to seal the hole with tape as soon as possible so that the film or fabric does not diverge. If the hole is small (with a diameter or length of up to approximately 5 cm), the master will be able to cover it with a lamp or a decorative element. If the hole turned out to be large, the canvas will have to be pulled.

Summary: PVC films are suitable for any premises, even with such difficult microclimatic conditions as the kitchen and bathroom. It is better to stretch fabric ceilings in spacious rooms with a “calm” atmosphere in the living room and bedroom. For the bedroom, it is better to choose a seamless canvas.

4. How does the mounting system affect the price and durability of stretch ceilings?

PVC and fabric stretch ceilings are attached in different ways:

Mounting method For which ceilings is it used Advantages Flaws
Harpoon PVC Low price;
Easy assembly/dismantling;
Can be re-mounted
It will not work to mount a whole insert on curved walls;
You need to carefully select the color of the insert
Gapless PVC There is no gap between the ceiling and the wall;
An insert is not needed;
You can join the ceiling canvas with drywall or tiles
High price
wedge PVC, fabric
budget cost
After a while, the canvas may sag.
clip-on Textile You can adjust the tension of the canvas;
Can be reused;
Easy assembly/dismantling
High price

Note: when installing the ceiling, choose energy-saving fixtures that do not heat up.

The maximum power of bulbs for PVC ceilings is 35 watts.

More powerful ceiling lamps will melt the film. It is also better not to overheat the fabric cloth. The light should be directed downward or sideways, and the light bulb itself should be no closer than 10 cm to the ceiling surface.

Summary: saving on fastening materials at the stage of installing a stretch ceiling in the future increases the cost of the structure. More expensive fasteners are more convenient to install and hold the canvas better. When replacing the canvas, it can be reused.

Choose the best stretch ceilings and share your impressions in the comments!

If you have decided on the type and color, shape and design, material and texture of the stretch fabric, the question remains: how to choose a manufacturer and an installation organization. Remember, when choosing stretch ceilings - quality is the main criterion.

In European countries, this product has been produced for quite a long time. A large number of serious firms competing with each other have successfully solved quality problems. Therefore, if you did not get a fake, then you will not have any claims against the manufacturer.

  • Relatively recently, canvases began to be produced in Russia, Ukraine, and China (see). Their advantage (perhaps the only one) is a lower price.
  • Products Russian production have a guarantee of up to 5 years (foreign - up to 15), they are thicker, and therefore heavier (more deflection over a considerable length).
  • Color coatings produced in Russia are mainly made in light (pastel) colors with a small selection of textures, and the seams on PVC sheets are quite noticeable.

Production

Advice! If you need an inexpensive white ceiling for a small area, you can choose a fairly high-quality Russian product.

The leader in the production of this product are the French (ZAK DU PLATEAU), followed by the Germans (LAGFOLIE). These are not the only foreign manufacturers.

What you need to know when choosing coverage

So how do you define quality?

  • (including compliance with SES standards).

Certificate fire safety stretch fabric. What documents are needed

  • The composition of the material should not contain phenol and compounds containing it (they are used in low-quality ceiling plasticizers). If they are, then there is a threat to your health (phenol will be released during operation).
  • If the design white color, it should be a "warm" white, not a bluish, "cold" shade. High-quality films are only "warm" white.

What are the best paintings

  • To the touch, the “correct” ceiling looks like fabric, and not like a plastic bag - it does not rustle.
  • The glossy texture should resemble a mirror, poor quality material has low reflectivity.

  • Glossy films of European manufacturers are "sewn" from panels 1.8 m wide, matte (satin) - 2.7 m. "Chinese analogue" - 3.3 m.
  • The material does not have a quality coating bad smell(it smells, of course, but the smell will soon disappear after installation).

  • A good ceiling should be completed (preferably aluminum, reinforced, with a harpoon system for mounting the canvas).

Video instruction for choosing a ceiling:

There is a way to check the quality of stretch ceilings ordered according to your dimensions from a foreign manufacturer (especially if you are going to install them yourself).

Note:

  • All components will be packed in boxes with branded stickers.

In the photo - the packaging is pasted over with a tape with the manufacturer's logo

  • You will receive a printed contract, not an inkjet printer on "cigarette" paper.
  • The company logo must be on the warranty card– the manufacturer and all its details (to protect against counterfeiting, many companies use holographic images).

  • Quality certificates for the supplied products will be attached to the contract.
  • On the official website of the manufacturer you can find samples of the documents attached to the order.

The choice of specialists for installation

Poor installation can make all your efforts to choose a great material useless.

  • It is better to contact a company that has already established itself in the market for these services, has experienced professionals who can demonstrate to you the finished result of their activities.
  • You can ask the opinion of friends, relatives who have already installed stretch ceilings.
  • A professional measurer, taking the dimensions of the room, will advise you not only on the ceiling material that is optimal for your case, but also on the direction and location of the seams, the type of lamps, baguettes and other components. If you are offered everything according to the “highest level”, without seeing the premises and the interior, you should look for another company.
  • Professional installation organizations provide a guarantee not only for materials, but also for the work performed.

High-quality stretch ceilings, with proper installation, require minimal maintenance, if necessary, are easily repaired, and will delight you for many years.
