Creating a wonderful image of your garden, making it cozy and beautiful, you cannot do without small architectural forms. Among them, the garden arch, entwined with flowers and ornamental plants... Everyone will want to have such a magnificent decoration on their site. To do this, you can buy a ready-made arch frame in the store, but it is much more interesting to make a special, unique arch with your own hands.

An arch is a narrow openwork structure consisting of two vertical surfaces and a horizontal one lying on them, which can be flat or arched. And the arches installed one after the other, forming a kind of corridor, are called a pergola.

In addition to purely practical use - supports for climbing plants, the arch in the garden is used as a diverse element of landscape design.

  • It can be used to decorate an entrance or a gate.
  • A garden arch is often used to delimit zones.
  • By placing the arch near the wall of the house and placing a bench under it, we get not only a wonderful place to relax, but also a chic decor of the building.
  • If you have a large plot, then a blooming arched corridor will become the main decoration of the garden.
  • A small arcade (pergola) can replace the gazebo.

Pay attention to the photo, garden arches different types make any landscape unique.

When arranging an arch for a summer residence, you should definitely take into account some requirements.

  1. The height of the vault should be at least 2 m so that a person of any height can pass freely.
  2. When determining the width of the structure, it must be borne in mind that plants can grow over time and narrow the passage.
  3. The arch in the garden should match the style of the entire site.
  4. When placing an arched frame, do not forget to provide a suitable place for planting climbing plants.
  5. An arch for a garden should be decorative at any time of the year with or without flowers.
  6. The arched structure must be strong and well fortified, withstand the weight of plants and strong winds.
  7. If you plan to build not a collapsible arch, but a standing one all year round, then pay attention to the characteristics of the material and its correct processing so that frost and bad weather do not spoil the structure.

The selection of material for making an arch for flowers in the country is determined by its strength, availability, compatibility with the general style of the estate. It can be wood, metal, plastic, or a combination of these materials. Each of them has advantages and disadvantages.

When creating garden arches with your own hands, you can show maximum imagination, combine in one design various materials... And our step-by-step instruction will help to successfully bring your project to life.

Wooden arch

First, consider how to make an arch from wood with your own hands. The simplest option is with a flat (straight) head rail. It is more difficult to make an arched top, this requires some experience and skill.

For vertical posts, you should take strong thick beams (approximately 100x100 mm). In order for the wooden arch to be reliable and durable, we need four such pillars, each 3 m long. You also need to prepare 18 one and a half meter pieces of smaller timber (about 70x70 mm), as well as slats. Before starting work, all prepared wooden parts it is imperative to treat it with a special antiseptic agent against fungus, rot and pests.

On three-meter pillars, we leave 1 m for installation, and on the remaining part, evenly make 4 marks for the grooves. We construct two “ladders” from the pillars, fixing one and a half meter crossbeams at the marks in the cut-out grooves (using the “half-tree” method). Then, for greater reliability, we strengthen the structure crosswise with slats. We make the top from the remaining one and a half meter pieces of timber, connecting them to each other, also using the fastening of the "half-wood" parts. At first, you get an angular arc, but by cutting off the protruding parts of the bars, we get smoother transitions.

Curly vines are able to ennoble any corner. In natural conditions, nature itself takes care of them ...

In the selected area, four holes with a depth of 1 m should be dug, in which the pillars should be installed, leveling them. For reliability and durability, the lower part of the posts going into the ground is pre-lubricated with bitumen or wrapped in a waterproofing material. Then the structure is concreted. The finished wooden garden arch can be painted in any color.

It is an ideal support for climbing plants, because in winter wooden surface freezes less.

To make a do-it-yourself arch made of wood please you for a long time, choose only well-dried wood.

Metal arch

Not every metal arch can be made independently. For example, forged arches for a garden require a certain skill and special equipment.

The simplest option is metal garden arches from fittings. To create such a structure, you will need, in addition to materials, friendly help. Prepare two round reinforcement rods with a diameter of 10 mm, each about 6 m long. And also, depending on the type of spacers, from 3 to 9 m of reinforcement with a diameter of 6 mm.

The proposed arch for flowers will have the following proportions: a height of about 2 m, the distance between the arches is 30 cm, between the spacers - 15 cm, from the bottom to the first spacer - 60 cm, for deepening into the ground - 50 cm.

Directly on the ground, using a rope (90 cm long) and a peg, you can draw an arc. Then drive metal pegs along the entire length of the groove with a small interval and bend two reinforcing rods around them with the help of a friend.

To fasten the reinforcing arcs into the arch, we need spacers. It can be either rings or simple crossbars. In the first case, a thin reinforcing bar should be cut, using a hacksaw for metal, into pieces of about 94 cm and, using a pipe bender, bend them into rings. In the second, just cut the rod into pieces a little more than 30 cm.

To fasten the workpieces together, a welding machine or a soft but strong wire is used. It is necessary to dig such a structure into the ground to a depth of about 50 cm. For a more durable and reliable fastening, you can first dig in pieces of pipes (about 30 mm in diameter) into the ground, and then fix the arch in them. In any case, having previously set the level, the base should be concreted. The last stage is the treatment of the arch with anti-corrosion material and painting.

Arch made of plastic pipes

Arches for roses with your own hands from plastic pipes fairly easy to manufacture. We need a soldering iron for such pipes ("iron") or special glue, as well as 12 m of thick-walled PVC pipe for hot water with a diameter of 20 mm and 12 pcs. tees.

First, cut the pipe into pieces with plastic scissors:

1.5 m - 2 pcs.

80 cm - 4 pcs.

40 cm - 8 pcs.

30 cm - 6 pcs.

Then, using tees, we assemble the "ladder" in a certain order. In the center is a piece of 1.5 m, then pieces of 80 cm on both sides, and then two pieces of 40 cm on each side. There are 30 cm jumpers between them. The frame is ready. Now we slowly bend it into a suitable arc and set it in the right place.

Since such an arch for flowers requires dismantling for the winter, it is better to install it in pre-concreted in the ground metal pipes slightly larger diameter.

It is very good to use such garden arches for annual climbing plants. An arch for clematis with your own hands can also be made in this way.

The garden arch will help to add elegance to the space surrounding the house. Visually, it creates an interesting focus, ...

Arch made of stone and other materials

A stone arch is the most expensive and difficult to manufacture. For such a structure, a foundation is required, and even without the appropriate skills it is difficult to make it. Such arches to order can be built by a professional bricklayer.

Vines (rods) are used as exclusive materials for the construction of arches. Such a wicker arch will wonderfully emphasize the country style. An arched bamboo structure will be a good addition to oriental motifs in the garden.

A simple do-it-yourself garden arch can be very beautiful, the photos clearly illustrate this.

If your result is not so successful or very simple, then plant more flowers and your flower arch will look amazing. Well, if the arched structure turned out to be delicate and graceful, then there should be few colors, they only emphasize the beauty of the base.

Use any curly flowers for the arch in the country. These are also tender annuals - sweet pea, morning glory, tunbergia, ornamental beans, hops, ivy, nasturtium, more about which can be found here

Do not be afraid, get to work, and your arch with flowers will become a source of pride and the main decoration of the garden. And our video will help you overcome some difficulties.

Who has never admired this decorative garden decoration? Or did he not remember the rest on the bench under the arch, entwined with clematis or climbing roses? Did this arched structure, immersed in a green waterfall of wild grape branches, hung with pots of flowering annual begonias and petunias, left anyone indifferent? All this beauty of the decorated territory of the site is given by one of the most expressive elements of landscape design - a garden arch. And the beauty created with your own hands is doubly pleasing.

How to make a garden arch yourself, without resorting to the help of professionals, to accentuate and decorate a recreation area - a patio or a garden? To cope with this task by building a “flowering corridor” and decorating it with plants is within the power of any summer resident or amateur gardener.

Span plus supports

Garden arch - vaulted structure, consists of vertical posts (supports) with arched or straight connection at the top. It has a symmetrical shape about the vertical axis and a through opening "gate" or repeating sections. Refers to small landscape forms. Has a variety of stylistic performance.

According to the material of manufacture, garden arches are:

  • Wooden - block, plank, trellis, wicker or combined.
  • Metal - from pipes, rods, profiles, metal portable trellises, including forged arches.
  • Plastic - from pipes, collapsible, sectional or lattice.
  • Stone - brick, buildings made of natural stone on the foundation.

Lightweight wooden structures

Wooden arches have a presentable "classic" look, easy to paint and easy to manufacture. They are the most common type of arches with an acceptable price / quality ratio. The lumber for the arches is selected dried. The best drying is natural, within three years under a canopy. To make an arch with a corridor length of 3 m, you will need 6 beams (3 on each side). Rectangular section 75 × 75 mm or 100 × 100 mm, height 2.0–2.2 m. From one end to the length of deepening, the bars are impregnated with an antiseptic (you can use used car oil, diesel fuel). If pillars are used as supports, a proven method is used - the butt of the logs are fired at the stake.

A garden drill or a shovel makes pits every 1.5 m, 0.5–0.6 m deep. The bars are installed in the pits, sprinkled with soil mixed with crushed stone, crushed bricks and compacted. The verticality of the installation is checked with a building level or a plumb line. The most reliable installation method is concreting. However, there is an opinion that concrete "attracts" moisture, from which the wood quickly deteriorates. Therefore, a three-layer fill should be preferred over a solid fill - the layers of cement screed should be alternated with layers of dense soil.

Of the 6-7 prepared slats of arbitrary cross-section, 4 are fixed horizontally between the beams - they fill the voids. Two or three slats will go at the end of the assembly to connect three arches of the vault-floor. The semicircular arcs themselves are made from a wooden beam (board) according to a cardboard template that repeats the profile of the future floor from a chain of n-th number of fragments-parts that have a rounded shape.

The length of each is usually 40–80 cm and depends on the radius of the future arch and the width of the lumber used. A cardboard template is superimposed on the wooden blank, the outline of the fragment is outlined and the part is cut out with a jigsaw or hand milling cutter. Final assembly produced on a cardboard template - the first layer of cut fragments is laid end-to-end. Then, with a shift in half a part, the second layer is laid along it. Both layers are connected to each other with self-tapping screws, and the finished arcs are installed and fixed on the upper parts of the supports.

Note! The disadvantage of wooden arches is a relatively short service life and low structural stability.

Strong and durable

Metal structures are strong and durable if you look after them. Full painting produced once every 3-4 years. Touch-up in places where rust appears - annually. For the manufacture of garden arch take two metal rods L \u003d 6 m and Ø 10 mm. A template of the future opening is prepared on the ground - a contour is outlined with paint, and metal pins L \u003d 20-30 cm are driven into it. The pins are bent around the rods to give them a finished arch shape - this is the skeleton of the future structure. The legs of the curved reinforcement are buried in the ground to a depth of 45–50 cm, the dug holes are poured with concrete. From rods of a meter length, rings are formed on the pipe bender - fillers of the space between the arcs and fasten them to the frame with soft wire.

In the absence of this bending tool, the space is filled with cross members - straight metal bars. The finished structure is covered with an anti-corrosion coating - a layer of primer and painted with enamel.

Lightness and high performance

These are the qualities that plastic arches have - modern look landscape designs. They are made independently, plastic pipes of round or rectangular cross-section are used as the frame material - most often they use water pipes Ø 20 mm. The best material high-quality PVC is considered - it tolerates high and low temperatures better, therefore, such structures are not removed by the owners for the winter in utility room... An alternative to manufacturing is to buy ready-made structures of a variety of styles - they are easy to assemble, and installation does not require special skills.

Note! The disadvantage of plastic structures is the limited choice of colors - in most cases they white... However, the problem is easily solved by applying paint to the surface of the garden arch. A wide selection of polyurethane paints and acrylic enamelsspecially designed for plastic and PVC. With their help, you can easily change the color of the arch.

Multi-section

A sequence of light arches connected by beams in the form of a canopy is called a pergola (from the Italian name pergula - canopy, extension). At the location, they can be independent, free-standing, or structures adjoined at one end to the wall of the room. Often, pergolas begin above the entrance group of a room or a terrace and serve to protect residents from the scorching rays of the sun, including barbecues, swimming pools or outbuildings. A pergola with a bench can serve as a local recreation area. Replaces the gazebo, having a simple manufacturing technology similar to ordinary arches.

Modern gardeners are increasingly using vertical landscaping with climbing plants in their areas. For a spectacular location decorative crops supports are needed. An arch for flowers in the country is one of the most popular designs. How to do original form do it yourself, we will tell in our article.

Garden supports are primarily functional structures that allow vines to grow in an upright position. If they were not there, climbing plants would creep along the ground. Besides functional purpose, they serve to decorate the garden. One of the structures, the arch, forms plantings in the form of a semicircular arch. Even the support itself looks original.

The role and function of the arch in landscape design

Dimensions and appearance structures must correspond not only to the purpose, but also to the general style of the garden. In landscape design, they belong to small architectural forms (LFA). If in the summer the supports, densely overgrown with plants, are not visible, then in the fall, when the leaves fall, they open - that is why they should decorate the backyard at any time of the year.

Supports for flowers in the country differ in shape, size, design features. They are made of metal, wood, plastic. Pay attention to the fact where the device will be installed, the range of future plants depends on it. Another option is possible - the owner of the site first chose the vines, and then he was faced with the task of correctly placing them in the garden.

Location in the country and in the garden

In order for the design to organically fit into the style of the landscape, it is important to take into account such aspects as:

  • size and shape;
  • appearance;
  • strength;
  • decorativeness.

Vertical structures in the country are installed taking into account their design features, and also take into account what kind of flower arrangement will eventually be formed.

Types of structures by shape

In landscape design for vertical gardening use the following types of architectural structures:

  • trellis - a support in the form of a small flat wall;
  • an arch, which consists of two parallel flat walls, connected by a rounded arch;
  • pergola consists of two vertical columns that are connected by a horizontal crossbar.

Fences, gazebos, arbours, pavilions and other small architectural forms can serve as supports for climbing plants. Perhaps the most common of these is the arch. Perhaps because it is not difficult to arrange a garden plot with its help.

Every gardener can make an arch on his own from scrap materials. This does not require special skills. But first you need to decide what to make this very arch from.

Using different materials

Vertical supports are made of metal, wood, plastic. Perhaps the easiest way is to build garden arches for climbing plants with your own hands from plastic pipes. It is quite possible to prepare the necessary parts from them and fasten them with simple connections.

From plastic pipes: how to assemble and install

The construction of this modern material has a lot of advantages:

  • durability - the declared service life of the material is 50 years;
  • strength that allows you to place heavy enough wood vines on supports;
  • high wear resistance of the coating, pipes do not need to be painted;
  • resistance to temperature changes.

When the advantages are taken into account, you can start assembling. You will need the following tools and materials:

  • PVC pipesand with a diameter of 20 mm, a length of 12 m;
  • fittings (tees) for connection, 12 pcs .;
  • hacksaw;
  • soldering iron for polypropylene pipes.

The work is performed in this order: Step by step instructions

Step 1Mark the pipe into segments: 1.5 m - 2 pcs; 0.8 m - 4 pcs; 0.4 m - 8 pcs. For transverse jumpers, 6 pieces of 0.3 cm are needed. Tee corners - 12 pcs.
For assembly use the scheme
Step2Cut the pipe strictly according to the marks with a hacksaw.
Step3Degrease the edges of the segments.
Step4Insert into a special heating nozzle.
Use a special plastic soldering iron to connect PVC parts.
Step5Insert the heated parts into the tees. Do not touch the connections until they have cooled completely, otherwise the parts will move and the structure will skew during installation.
Step6Bend the structure and dig it into the ground. The distance between the posts can be from 1.7 to 2 m. With a larger width, the arch will be flatter, respectively, at a smaller distance, the angle of inclination will increase.
Step7Decorate the arch with plants, planting them on the outside of the support.

If the assembly with a soldering iron is not suitable, a special plastic adhesive can be used. To fix the parts, the inside of the tee is coated with glue. The same is done with the outer edge of the pipe, which is inserted into the joint. After 15 minutes, when the glue hardens, the structure can be bent. In addition to PVC pipes, other materials are used.

Wooden

Vertical supports made of PVC pipes are easy to build, but their appearance is inferior to the decorativeness of wooden arches for the garden. They differ in a variety of shapes, sizes and patterns. From an aesthetic point of view, they are superior plastic products, but have several disadvantages:

  • wooden structure requires preliminary preparation of the material. It needs to be treated with protective agents against decay;
  • making a garden arch from wood with your own hands requires certain skills in working with wood;
  • the durability of wooden arches is less than that of supports made of other materials. From time to time, the tree needs to be repainted. Do it in spring or autumn. For this, the plants are removed from the support. But not all horticultural crops respond positively to this movement. Some of the flowers get stressed from being moved from place to place, up and down, in a word, suffer from such interference. For example, they don't like excessive worry climbing roses... When choosing a wooden support, it is important to consider the sensitivity of the crops to possible lifting from the vertical.

In addition to arches, other types of supports are popular among gardeners, for example, wooden pergolas for summer cottages. The design is similar to a gazebo: the vertical posts are connected by a horizontal lintel. This classic form came to horticulture from architecture and was transformed into a more complex structure with additional details. It can be used to decorate a summer garden if the pergola is planted with flowering annuals, or to create intricate interweaving of woody vines in winter.

The vertical support is installed at the entrance to the garden plot, located above the footpaths and parking lots, used as a functional support for climbing plants in the garden and in the vegetable garden.

They often decorate the porch of the house to protect the entrance from drafts.

Made of metal

These metal products for summer cottages are the strongest and most durable. They tolerate heat and frost well. They are independently made from fittings, profiles, water pipes. To do this, you need to have the skills of welding and remember about possible risk... It is easier to contact the manufacturers of metal structures. They offer a wide variety of forged and welded designs. Regardless of who made the arch, remember the shortcomings of this durable and beautiful material:

  1. The metal heats up quickly in the sun, so it can act on plants like a hot frying pan. Therefore, it is better to paint the supports in light colors, they reflect sunlight. Most crops for our climate are deciduous, and the support is not covered with a crown all the time of the year. While the leaves are blooming, the structure is open to the sun.
  2. To protect against rain and snow, the paintwork must be periodically renewed, otherwise the structures may rust.
  3. Of all the materials listed, metal is the most expensive.

Such supports are more suitable for a garden with a wrought-iron fence or in conjunction with the exterior of a house in the appropriate style.

We use stones

Even more durable material than metal - hard rocks, such as granite. Capital supports were built from them back in the days of the Roman Empire. In modern areas, they are also found, but extremely rare. Firstly, it is expensive, and secondly, stone arches are difficult construction work... Of course, stone supports are beautiful and reliable, but do not forget that minerals are very hot in the sun and keep warm for a long time. Most plants cannot withstand such a "heat treatment". In frost, the stone behaves like a block of ice, which is by no means conducive to successful wintering lianas.

Construction from scrap materials: pros and cons

You can make an arch in the garden with your own hands from the remnants after construction or repair. The undoubted advantage of this method is significant savings on the purchase of materials. On the other hand, not all of them allow you to do the work yourself. In any case, the result is an exclusive product that your neighbors will definitely not have.

Choice of plants and flowers

If the arch is located on the sunny side of the garden, any richly blooming crop will do. Wood vines are popular among summer residents:

  • vesteria, she is wisteria;
  • kampsis,
  • honeysuckle honeysuckle;
  • clematis,
  • climbing roses.

In the garden and in the summer flower garden will be appropriate:

  • curly beans or peas;
  • tunbergia;
  • farbitis.

Garden fences made of mad cucumber look original. It is better to pick its fruits unripe, otherwise it will shoot seeds several meters. For this he got his name.

Supports in the shady part of the garden will successfully accommodate:

  • maiden five-leaf grapes;
  • aristolochia (kirkazon);
  • bindweed;
  • aconite curly.

Which support to choose for a garden depends on its purpose, location and your sense of beauty.

The selection of material depends on the location and conditions of the placement of the vineyard. From where in the distance from home, and what functionality you want to give it. After all, it can be adapted for the cultivation of varietal grapes, which will give the arch the function of a vineyard, and for the cultivation of decorative grapes, which gives it and, accordingly, the entire summer cottage an exceptionally aesthetic appearance with a shading function.

The arch for grapes should be installed in a well-lit place

The size of the arch depends on the choice of the place for the arch. But under any circumstances, the height of the arch should be at least one meter higher than the average height of a person. And not to violate the overall composition of the site, the center of which is the house. The arch should not be too high if it is located near the house. If the purpose of erecting an arch is to create a shadow for the house, then a semi-arch, fixed with one side to the wall or roof of the house, is also suitable for this. In all other respects, one must proceed from the expediency of using the arch for a particular place, guided by appropriate considerations.

The arch can be made:

  • from wooden beams and planks;
  • from plastic pipes;
  • from metal rods and metal pipes;
  • from metal structures, subject to use welding machine.

You can make from ordinary wood original arches for grapes

It is from the choice of a site for an arch for grapes that its dimensions will also depend. The height of the structure should be 1 m higher than the average height of a person. And also she must not violate general form the entire plot in the country. It is not necessary to make the arch very high if it is centered around the house.

If the creation of a structure involves shading the house, then a semi-arch is suitable for these purposes. It will be fixed with one side to the roof of the building. The choice of the remaining parameters for an arch installed in one place or another is carried out in accordance with one's own wishes.

To make an arch to a vineyard, you can use metal, wood and plastic. Each of the materials presented have their own performance characteristics.

Every gardener knows what amazing taste grapes have. But grapes are not only bunches of juicy and aromatic berries, but also an excellent option for decorative decoration. personal plot... Vine given fruit crop It is widely used to decorate fences, walls of houses, gazebos, columns and, of course, arches.

The vine on the arch gives the garden a special charm. In addition to aesthetic appeal, arches under grapes serve as a kind of recreation area. Here you can grow plants that are afraid of direct sunlight, or arrange a small recreation area.

Before proceeding with the choice of materials and arrangement of the frame, it is necessary to designate the place where the do-it-yourself arch for grapes will be installed. The dimensions of the future structure depend on the intended purpose. So, if you plan to shade a house using this architectural form of landscape design, then it is better to give preference to a semi-arch, one of the sides of which is fixed to the porch of the building.

As experts in the field of landscape design of personal plots note, the height of the structure should be 1 m higher than the height of a person.

When choosing a place and thinking over the design of the future composition, it is necessary to adhere to the harmony and unity of style with the rest of the buildings of the area. The frame for the grapes must organically fit into the composition of the infield.

Wooden beams

After assembling the arch wooden beams need to be treated with an antiseptic, covered with a stain and moisture-resistant varnish. Wooden basethat will contact the ground requires additional attention. According to the recommendations of experienced gardeners, in order to avoid rotting wood, the beams of the arch must be tightly wrapped with roofing material and secured with wire.

Plastic pipes

The arch for grapes made of plastic pipes is very popular among gardeners. This design is characterized by the lightness and strength of the material, and also does not rot and corrode.

So that during the assembly process of the structure there are no problems at the joints, all pipes must be of the same diameter. It is recommended to carefully think over and draw up a drawing of the planned structure in advance. When deepening the arch into the ground, the base pipes should be strengthened and concreted.

However, it must be said about the disadvantages of this material: the construction of plastic pipes is not suitable for growing high-yielding varieties grapes, since under the weight of the bunches the arch will begin to deform over time.

Many gardeners are wondering whether it is possible to make an arch for a vine from rebar and metal pipes with an anti-corrosion coating. The metal arch for grapes has many advantages, among which it is worth noting strength, reliability, high wear resistance and structural stability.

In order for do-it-yourself metal grape arches to last for many years, you need to carefully consider the drawing of the frame. For work, you need a welding machine or bolts that are inserted into holes drilled in metal pipes.

Please note that such designs are not lightweight. For this reason, try not to complicate the arch with unnecessary elements and carefully work on deepening the base of the frame.

If you want to make an arch for grapes that will last for decades, it is better to give preference to harvested metal structures... For the construction of a metal frame, you cannot do without a welding machine. In the process of work, you can use metal pipes of various lengths, channels, thin rods, from which it will turn out to design an original top in the form of lamps, lanterns or flower pots.

Whether from the desire to save money, or from an overabundance of imagination, our people learned to benefit from those objects and things that a pedantic European would have long ago sent to the dump. They build greenhouses and make palm trees, from - pretty garden figurines, and you can collect any garden furniture... Scraps of plastic pipes left over from repairs can also be used with benefit. They make the simplest decorative things, beds, chairs and even greenhouses - the scope for imagination is huge, and we have collected only the most interesting ideas handicrafts made from plastic pipes that can serve as a guide to action or a source of inspiration.

Pipe connection methods

Plastic pipes are like construction parts... By combining segments of different lengths and connecting them at different angles, you can get anything: a beginner will be delighted that he has built a simple hanger, and a professional will easily assemble bunk bed... The main thing is to be able to correctly connect the pipes, and then it will be possible to do any thing necessary in the household.

Plastic pipes are a collective name, and are made from polymers. And are in the greatest demand. Sections of different lengths and diameters remain after the repair of engineering networks in an apartment or in a country house, and, as a rule, they are cluttered in the closets, or rather, they were cluttered until enterprising folk craftsmen began to use them for other purposes. Plastic pipes are characterized by low weight, high strength and durability, they are easy to clean and safe.

Polypropylene pipes are connected using a special welding machine. It is expensive - it is more profitable to rent it, and it will take a little time to learn how to work with it. Compression fittings can be used to connect. In any case, the assembled product will be non-separable.

When it comes to plastic pipe crafts, usually refer to PVC pipesthat can connect together in the following ways:

  • socket connection with rubber seal... Socket pipes are supplied by manufacturers with a rubber seal located at the end, so that pipe joining is simple and quick, and the joint is tight. At the first stage, the socket of one pipe and the smooth part of the other are cleaned of dust and dirt. A chamfer is removed from the smooth end of the pipe (angle 15 degrees, chamfering tools can be used) and a mark is applied to indicate the depth to which the pipe will enter the socket. The sealing ring of the bell and the smooth part of the pipe are lubricated with a silicone compound and inserted one part into another, focusing on the mark. For plumbing and drainage, this is a good connection, and if you are assembling shelves or furniture, then it is not rigid enough. The main advantages are: simplicity and the possibility of dismantling, therefore, such a connection is used for the construction of temporary structures and things;
  • adhesive bond... The ends of the pipes that need to be connected are chamfered (some simply process the surface with sandpaper), then marks are applied to indicate the depth of the fitting. The ends of the pipes are degreased with methylene chloride, then the adhesive is applied with a brush to the pipe and inside the chamfer or socket. The pipe is inserted into the fitting (or socket), rotated ¼ turn for better glue distribution, then the elements can be pressed for 30-60 seconds. It is advisable to do all the work quickly. The remaining glue is immediately removed, and the compound is allowed to dry for several hours. The process is more laborious, but the joint is more reliable;
  • flange connection... Individual sections are connected using special fittings. Before performing work, the ends of the pipes are cleaned. A flange is put on the cut, then a rubber gasket onto which the flange is pushed. Elements are connected using bolts with a counter flange. Then the bolts are evenly tightened to achieve alignment of the flanges. The connection is reliable, the design is collapsible.

When the technology of connecting plastic pipes has been mastered, we can assume that almost any craft can be done. It is only important to draw a sketch or make a drawing in advance, and correctly calculate the length of all segments. You can build anything from such parts - we will list just some ideas for DIY plastic pipe crafts.

# 1. Organizer

The easiest way to use the remains of plastic pipes. You can take pipes of small and medium diameter, even small lengths will fit. The first option is a mobile organizer. It is enough to cut segments of different heights and glue them together in any order or adhering to some scheme (for example, one higher segment in the center, the rest around it). Such a stand is suitable for storing office supplies near the desktop or for organizing all kinds of bolts and other fasteners in the workshop.

The second option is stationary. On one side, the pipe must be cut at an angle (the most popular option is 45 degrees, but less is possible if small items are stored). Then the cut elements are attached to the vertical surface with. You can mount the organizer elements on the wall or on a specially installed board.

# 2. Decorative frame or partition

Thin rings, which are easy to get when cutting plastic pipes, are a versatile material for creating decor. You can use pipes of different diameters - it's even more interesting. The plastic rings make a wonderful frame. It is enough to draw a layout of the future product on paper in advance and glue individual rings right on it. From them both a strict symmetrical pattern and something chaotic can turn out. If you then paint, then such a frame for a mirror or picture will hardly be called a simple craft - it will be a cool design thing.

Similarly, you can get and decorative partition... It will take a little longer to glue, of course, but the effort is worth it. The partition will look very interesting, weigh a little and come in handy, for example, to delimit zones in the bathroom.

No. 3. Shoe shelf and wine bottle holder

There are a lot of options to organize the storage of clothes using plastic pipes, and in the implementation of all these crafts are quite simple.

No. 8. Shelving for living room, hallway, pantry

By connecting several pipe sections in the required order, you can get a practical and inexpensive rack that will fully satisfy your requirements in terms of size, shape and configuration. It can be either rather modest in size or a real giant. If the rack is located in the living room, then the pipes can be painted, and glass or plywood can be used as countertops. When it comes to or a workshop, there is no particular need for decoration.

No. 9. Football goal

If a country cottage area has, then you can build a small football goal. It will be necessary to perform only a few connections, but before that, of course, everything will have to be carefully calculated and measured. When the frame is ready, a net is put on it, and the gate is ready. When the little ones grow up, the product can be disassembled, and the pipes can be reused to create other crafts.

Similarly, you can make a small children's house for games. We all once loved to build huts, get together there and play. It was especially cozy and mysterious. The frame for a house made of pipes is made elementary. Children will only have to throw a thick fabric over it and enjoy their own little castle.

No. 10. Playpen for children

There is nothing complicated in the construction of a playpen. However, the finished product in the store is not cheap. A budget alternative is available to those who have a decent amount of plastic pipes in stock, the time and the desire to learn how to connect individual pieces into a solid structure. You will need a lot of pipes to make, so home craftsmen advise you to just buy them in the store - it will still be cheaper than a ready-made arena, and the pipes can then be reused.

After a diagram of the arena has been created with an indication of its dimensions, pipes are cut. Vertical partitions are connected by short horizontal pipe sections at the top and bottom. However, variations are possible in the design of the arena.

No. 11. Chairs made of plastic pipes

Here you will need already confident skills in connecting individual pipe sections. Depending on your desire and degree of preparation, you can make both a simple children's stool and comfortable chair for adults, or even a chair. After the frame is ready, the seat is made. It can be woven from thread, rope, or use a thick fabric. Then you can put soft pillows on top. Having mastered the manufacturing technique, it will be possible to build almost all the furniture for a summer residence.

No. 12. Bunk bed

Yes, it is quite possible to assemble a frame from ordinary plastic pipes. Not only supporting elements are made of pipes, but also a staircase, and, of course, lamellas under. The level of difficulty here is increased, it is better to take on the work for those who have already tried their hand at making simpler crafts. Do not neglect drawing up a drawing and scrupulous measurements.

A bed made in this way will be a real boon for country house a small area, because not everyone can afford to buy a ready-made bunk bed for the dacha, but somehow it is necessary to solve the problem of accommodation.

No. 13. Garden arch

Arches entwined with plants and flowers look beautiful in the garden. The main difficulty in making a garden arch from plastic pipes is that individual segments will have to be bent. The easiest way to shape the pipes is with a gas burner. A separate area is heated to a state where the material will give in to deformation, then it is given the required shape. Someone decides not to bother and just connect several pipe sections at an angle. Then the upper part of the arch will resemble a trapezoid or polygon in shape. Horizontal elements are attached between the two arched vaults so that in the future the arch is covered with greenery as much as possible. Remember to securely fix the structure in the soil.

No. 14. Alcove

Constructing from plastic pipes is much easier than anyone might imagine. If you take long enough segments, then you don't even have to connect anything. Two pipes of the required length are given an arched shape and anchored into the ground. The distance between the elements of the future frame should be such that the dining table or other objects fit. It only remains, and everything is ready.

The design of the gazebo may be slightly different, resembling a house in shape. In this case, you will have to connect the individual elements.

No. 15. Carport

The design itself is simple, but difficulties may be associated with a decent size of the canopy, because it must be wide and high enough so that a car can safely hide under it. The frame is assembled with special care, attached to the ground and to the adjacent wall, if any, is covered with a thick awning fabric on top, which will protect the car from the scorching sunlight and rain. I can't even call this product a craft - this is already a small architectural form.

No. 16. Greenhouse

A small greenhouse is easy to do. You will need a few pipes, and there will not be very many connections. After the frame is assembled and fixed in the ground, it remains only to cover it with agrofiber. It will be possible to make such a greenhouse in just a couple of hours, and the benefits from it will be enormous.

No. 17. Greenhouse made of plastic pipes

A full-fledged building, of course, is more difficult than a greenhouse. It will take a lot more material, and it will take a lot of time. The size of the greenhouse can be almost anything. The procedure is as follows:

A frame for a greenhouse of almost any shape can be made from pipes, but an arched one remains the most preferable.

No. 18. Seedling containers

If everyone in the country square meter in the account, then it's time to bring the idea of \u200b\u200bvertical gardens to life. Thus, it is convenient to grow greens and some berries. Excellent containers will come out of scraps of plastic sewer pipes if holes are cut in them in advance for seedlings and the outflow of excess water. It remains only to fill the soil containers and arrange the vertical beds one above the other. You can attach them again to a stand made of plastic pipes. Some connect the beds with ropes and hang them from the wall - there are many options.
