Interesting coffee table from plastic pipes

Plastic pipes, as a material for making furniture, are good for their availability and low cost. For those who live outside the city or have a summer cottage, the situation is familiar when after construction, laying communications or organizing drip irrigation, pieces of pipes of different lengths remain. At first glance, they can only be thrown away. This is a very erroneous opinion, because it is from such pieces of different diameters and lengths that many original and useful interior items can be made. You just need to apply a little skill and desire to work with your own hands, imagination.

Choice of construction and design

Glamorous Pink Plastic Tube Laptop Stand

Furniture production begins with the choice of design and the option of its design implementation. It is necessary to start from the function that the furniture will perform. Then the design parameters are selected:

  • collapsible or one-piece;
  • dimensions of the entire product;
  • the number of elements and their sizes;
  • a method of connecting parts of a structure.

What materials are needed

Necessary materials for creating furniture from PVC pipes

After the design is selected, it is necessary to draw up a list of materials and tools required to create the craft. For this you may need:

  • plastic pipes;
  • fasteners: glue, screws, screws;
  • fitting.

Stages of the plastic pipe welding process

Plastic pipes are easy to cut. After that, a sharp edge with burrs remains, which must be cleaned. Just cut the threads. When heated, polymer pipes bend well, retaining a new shape after cooling. Sometimes it is easier to bend the frame than to assemble it with pieces of pipe and fittings.

Plastic pipes different shapes and fittings for them

There are several types of plastic pipes. They all differ in price and ability to withstand different loads and temperature conditions... Knowing the properties of each type of pipe, you can make optimal choice and save.

They are divided by purpose:

  • plumbing
  • sewer.

Variety of types of plastic pipes

In terms of making furniture and useful tools for everyday life, sewer pipes, in contrast to water pipes, benefit from a lower price. They are manufactured in large diameters.

By the type of polymer from which the pipes are made, they are divided into:

  • polyvinyl chloride (PVC);

PVC pipes of different diameters and colors

  • polyethylene (PE);

Large diameter polyethylene pipes, straight and corrugated

  • polypropylene (PP).

Polypropylene pipes and fittings for them

They differ slightly from each other in properties. Polyethylene behaves worse at elevated temperatures and under the influence sun rays, it is elastic. Polypropylene pipes are stronger and more rigid. Positive quality PVC pipes are highly resistant to chemical attack and reduced flammability. They perfectly tolerate ultraviolet exposure. The difference in the performance characteristics of polymers in most cases will not be critical for the manufacture of furniture. Differences in price, however, are a factor to consider. The most expensive are polypropylene. PVC pipes have an optimal price-quality ratio for creating furniture structures.

In addition, pipes can be reinforced or unreinforced. Polymer pipes are most often reinforced with fiberglass or aluminum. The reinforcing layer is soldered between the two polymer layers. This is done to increase strength, rigidity, and reduce linear expansion when heated. Reinforced polypropylene pipes are used for hot water supply. The letters RC are added to the reinforced pipe designation. They can also be distinguished by their appearance. In addition, some manufacturers apply a colored strip along the pipe, informing about the scope of the product. Pipes with a blue stripe are used for cold water supply, with a red stripe for hot water or pipelines with a heating medium. The presence of both strips indicates the versatility of the pipe. It should be borne in mind that reinforced pipes, although stronger, are much more expensive. Decide on the advisability of additional costs for the master.

What tools to use

In order to update your interior with crafts from plastic pipes with your own hands, you need a minimum amount of tools:

  • a hacksaw for metal or special scissors for plastic pipes;
  • pencil or marker;
  • roulette;
  • file;
  • special soldering iron for plastic pipes;
  • drill.

Gloves and goggles are good. Despite the fact that working with PVC pipes is not dangerous, chips still fly when sawing, and sharp edges remain. In order not to damage hands and eyes, it is better to use protection.

Basic principles of making items from polypropylene pipes

Plastic products They rapidly burst into our lives, displacing the materials familiar to us, such as wood and metal, and every day they capture more and more new industries. It is not surprising, because the service life of such products is at least 50 years. In addition, they do not rot, oxidize, are not subject to chemical attack, and the most important criterion is that they are cheap.

Plastic is used in almost all industries. They use it very actively in construction. Any pipeline is now made of plastic pipes. Old lines have long served their time, and systems made of polypropylene or PVC are coming to replace them.

Content of the article

What is required?

Plastic pipes intended for laying all kinds of pipelines are often used in other industries.

Craftsmen began to make with their own hands from PVC pipes different subjects interior, and much more. Leftovers plastic partsthat remained after construction or repair are also in no hurry to throw it away. After all, you can make a bunch of necessary and unusual things from them.

The beauty is that this does not require special skills, but everything is possible. A little imagination, and the trash from plastic waste will turn into an exclusive thing.

Very quickly and easily, you can make chairs from plastic pipes with your own hands.

For this we need:

  • pieces of polypropylene or PVC pipes;
  • cross - 1 pc .;
  • turn 90 ° - 4 pcs.;
  • tee 8 - pcs.;
  • plugs - 4 pcs.;
  • a piece of thick thick plywood (for the seat);
  • a piece of foam rubber;
  • a piece of cloth (to cover the seat).

The first step is to determine the size. They can be photographed from an existing chair at home. According to the selected parameters, we cut blanks from polypropylene pipes.

If desired, the length of the segments can be increased or decreased, depending on the size of the product you want to get as a result.

Required tools

Working with your bare hands to create a homemade chair will not work, you need a minimum set of tools:

  • or a hacksaw;
  • stapler with staples;
  • drill.

Seat assembly

We start assembly from the seat. We take the cross, and solder pieces of PVC pipes of the required size to it. You can immediately drill holes in the pipes for attaching the seat itself.

They do not need to be painted or processed special formulations... Having such furniture in the country, you don't have to worry that it gets wet on the street and rot. And most importantly, all this can be done by hand.

Several comfortable all-weather waterproof stools, moreover, home-made, hand-made - that is, almost free, will not interfere in the country. And making them is not at all difficult.

I will share my experience

Gardeners and gardeners living in the south of the country (and now residents middle band) in the summer are faced with the need for fairly frequent watering of plants due to the lack of rain.

There is not enough moisture and vegetable crops, and shrubs. The usual quick watering from a watering can or hose does not give the desired effect. Water either spreads over the surface, or goes much deeper than the roots along the cracks in the soil.

This solution is quite functional, but over time, wooden stands, being constantly on wet ground, begin to rot, and it is not very convenient to carry them along with the tank. I'm not even talking about the appearance of these structures.

So I decided to make new stands for the tanks.

They must be resistant to decay, not repulsive in appearance and easy to manufacture. For a long time I could not find suitable option stand designs.

And then I accidentally stumbled upon PVC pipe fittings left after laying the water supply in a barn.

The idea of \u200b\u200bmaking furniture out of PVC pipes is far from new, but in my case it turned up just in time. Almost all the parts were already on the shelf. I had to buy only a plastic pipe and a few plugs.

DIY PVC pipe chair

Chair frame I collected from thick-walled PVC pipe32 mm. Used a pipe for hot water without reinforcement. In addition to the pipe itself (about 3.5 m), I needed 4 tees, 4 corners, 4 plugs and 1 crosspiece.

With special scissors for cutting plastic pipes (if I didn’t have them, I would have taken a hacksaw for metal), I cut the workpieces of the required sizes and, using a soldering iron for PVC pipes, very quickly assembled the frame of the stool.

The seat was made of larch, covering the boards with acrylic varnish in 2 layers. He fastened them with self-tapping screws, which he screwed through the pipe.

The whole work, taking into account the varnish finish, took about two hours. The construction turned out to be very light, rigid and durable. I also use the stool for its intended purpose.

He can handle my 105 kg without any problems. I'm thinking of attaching a back to it.

Perhaps, if you specifically buy all the parts for such a stool, it will cost more than an ordinary ready-made chair, but an ordinary chair does not have moisture resistance - the most important advantage of such a country chair.

And the residues of plastic pipes and fittings formed on the farm will reduce the cost of it to a minimum.

Crafts from polypropylene pipes or LEGO for adults

Once I watched children build towers from LEGO bricks, and next to them lay polypropylene pipes and fittings that remained superfluous after the arrangement of the water supply in the house... And then an amazing idea came to me: why not use them as parts of an "adult" designer and make useful household items from them? Having started to create, I got carried away to such an extent that the materials had to be bought in addition, and read about what came of it.

Motivation

Note that using plastic pipes to assemble various functional structures is far from my invention. People everywhere have long and quite successfully followed this trend, not limited to the use of such wonderful material for the installation of pipelines alone.

But I want to tell you what exactly prompted me to take this step, in addition to the type of children at play described above:

  • Low price implementation. Polypropylene pipes are relatively inexpensive, in addition, you may have surplus of them after laying the communication systems at home, which still have nowhere to go. Moreover, for the implementation of many ideas, already used samples are quite suitable;
  • Lack of toxic secretions, which also allows you to design crafts for children without fear for their health;
  • Simplicity and high speed of assembly... Lightness is well known installation works when installing a polypropylene pipeline, so here you can also do without soldering, since there is no need to maintain high tightness of the joints. By the way, this also makes it possible to carry out quick dismantling without damaging the structure itself;
  • Attractive appearance. White color, the correct forms, which, if desired, can be changed, all this has a positive effect on the final appearance of the manufactured product. Usually, at the end of the work, it is not even required to paint it;

  • No corrosive processes... You can not only build street structures, but even completely assemble, for example, a raft, since neither rain nor direct constant contact with water will in any way negatively affect the plastic;
  • Good strength indicators... Walls plastic pipes thick enough to withstand the pressure in the water supply systems, and the structures made of them have sufficient resistance to any mechanical stress;
  • Little weight, which makes the finished object mobile, and also makes the assembly process even more accessible;
  • Long service life, constituting at least half a century.

An impressive list of advantages, which I personally supplemented for myself with the opportunity to once again feel like a little child creating "castles in the air", turned out to be convincing enough to get down to business without delay.

Constructor games

Greenhouse

It is difficult to call a greenhouse just a craft, rather it is almost a building. But, nevertheless, plastic pipes do an excellent job with its construction. The finished arched structure will decorate the site and will provide you with invaluable assistance in growing many types of plant crops. In general, every gardener will understand what this is about, right there I want to describe the features of the installation process itself.

That such a building is not suitable for year-round operation, since it will not withstand severe winter weather conditions. So, better limit yourself to the spring-autumn period.

The main elements of the structure:

Construction instruction:

  1. First I made an elementary drawing, in which he noted the most important parameters of the future structure:
    • Length - 5 m;
    • Width - 3 m;
    • Number of arches - 6;
    • The distance between the arches is 1 m;
  1. Leveled the surface the selected site;
  2. Marked the pipes with a diameter of 25 mm and cut them on:
    • 10 meter segments for lateral elongated sides;
    • One three-meter section for the back wall;
    • 2 x 110 cm and one 80 cm in order to create a passage on the front side;
    • 12 three-meter - for creating arches;
    • One six-meter fragment, which will become an edge connecting the top of the arch;

  1. Now connected all the pieces around the perimeter, except for those that are prepared for the arches, using couplings in the form of crosses, so that a through hole is obtained at the place of each docking. For corners, I used similar swivel fittings;

  1. I drove thin metal rods into the holes so that they fit tightly into the ground, but at the same time they rise somewhere else 15 cm above the laid out plastic frame. With their help, it will be possible to securely fix the structure in one place and strengthen its base;
  2. Now, in the same holes, only already pushing on steel rods, I inserted pipe arches;
  3. From above I have them also connected with crossesin which then made a six-meter pipe as a stiffener;
  4. Installed aisle frame... For greater convenience, you can even build a door, but since not for the whole year, I just got by with a dense retractable film curtain;
  5. At all joints of fittings with pipes screwed in short self-tapping screws;
  6. I covered the finished "skeleton" with a film. Polycarbonate is also a good choice for this purpose.

As a result, I got a beautiful summer greenhouse, which I safely disassembled in the fall and hid it in the utility block until next spring.

Bow

This idea will appeal not only to children, but also to adults, since the finished onion will have a fairly high destructive power. Personally, as a lover of medieval themes, I was very happy to have the opportunity to recreate such a striking representative of it.

The main elements of the product:

Implementation process:

  1. I took a half-meter piece of pipe, marked the center on it, from which I then retreated 50 mm in both directions, where I put the marks;
  2. Then warmed up one side to the marked place with the help of the construction, until it becomes malleable. You can, of course, use other methods of melting, but I think this is the most convenient and safe, since the presence of an open flame is excluded;

  1. I squeezed soft plastic with two planks in such a way that the edge of the pipe becomes a semicircular flattened shape, and closer to the center it expands again;
  2. I did a similar manipulation with the second side;
  3. Then also warmed up the still untouched middle and, while it is soft, but not scalding, grasped and squeezed by hand, forming a comfortable handle;
  4. Now warmed up the edges again and bent them in the opposite direction;
  5. After the plastic has frozen again made slits for the bowstring, put it on and, with childish delight, fired the first shot with an arrow prepared in advance.

Hanger

This simple yet incredible useful thing household items have many options for the material in question. Depending on your imagination and what you want to get in the final form, you can assemble either such a complex structure as in the photo, or a floor structure with a stand, but I will describe to you the simplest and easiest option that I used myself:

  1. I took a meter-long piece of polypropylene pipe and cut it into three pieces:
    • One 400 mm long;
    • Two, 300 mm long;
  1. Thru the resulting plastic cylinders a piece of rope, folded them into a triangle and tied the protruding rope ends together;

  1. Exiting rope edge tied to a metal hookborrowed from an old broken coat hanger.

Chair

I will not indicate the dimensions, since using a similar technology you can make both a child's and an "adult" chair or stool. So it's better to remove the linear parameters from the usual purchased sample and be guided by them. I also note that in a similar way, you can build a table or even a small single bed.

The assembly instruction looks like this:

  1. First of all, I, as in the above options, marked the pipes, in accordance with the dimensions taken, after which he cut them into the desired pieces;
  2. Then he took the crosspiece, which later will be under the seat and soldered four short pieces to itleading to the legs. Instead of soldering, you can use glue, self-tapping screws will not look aesthetically pleasing, but it is imperative to strengthen all the joints, since the product must in the future withstand all child or adult bodies. A little about soldering technology:
    • We put the soldering iron on a level place, fasten the mandrel and the sleeve of the required dimensions, set the thermostat to 260 degrees Celsius, plug the plug into the outlet and switch the power switch to the working position;
    • After the nozzles are heated properly, we install the pipe edge and the corresponding coupling in them;

    • We wait a few seconds, after which we remove the products and join them strictly at an angle of ninety degrees and now we are waiting for solidification;

  1. I welded a tee to the free ends of the tubes;

  1. I attached legs to the lower holes, into the lower ends of which I inserted plugs;
  2. Gathered two handrails:
    • Welded to the corresponding pipes on one side along the bend, and on the other along the tee;

    • To the fittings that go out to one side, I soldered along a short segment;
  1. The resulting products installed on the sides a prepared structure on top of its legs so that the edges with crosses are on the back side, where the back is planned;
  2. Collected the back:
    • I took the tube corresponding to its top and welded it to both ends along the bend;
    • I attached half-length segments of the back to the turns;
    • Tees were soldered to their edges, which in turn connected with another tube, thereby creating a stiffening rib. Several can be made depending on the size of the chair;
    • With two more segments the length of the second half of the back, I attached the resulting polypropylene rectangle to the crosspieces of the railing;
  1. I fastened pieces of plywood to the seat and backrest with self-tapping screws, which I then upholstered with foam rubber and sheathed with fabric.

If we complicate the design using a similar assembly technology, then, as I noted above, even a bed can be obtained:

Organizer

Here is another incredibly simple and original method of using plastic pipes:

  1. From the remains of pipes of different diameters cut some neat pieces so that one of their sides is beveled at the same angle. At the same time, I chose the length for each in accordance with the stationery, for example, for larger pens and pencils, and for a smaller scraper;
  2. File cleaned all edges... This was especially necessary for pieces with a large section, which had to be cut with a hacksaw, and not with scissors;

  1. Then I put them on a flat surface in a "flock", but so that all the bevels were turned in one direction, and glued all adjoining walls.

The same method turned out to be an excellent organizer for the bathroom, only here I no longer began to make oblique edges:

I would also like to note that with the help of a similar technology, that is, by gluing the tubes to each other with walls, you can create strikingly beautiful pieces of furniture interior in a modern original style, as shown in the following photo:

Table lamp

First thing here, I took care of the electrical part:

  1. Disassembled the old lamp and took out the inside of it: wires, switch and base;
  2. Cut some tubes and prepared fittings according to the creative idea;
  3. The edge of one of the segments was missed with glue and inserted a base into itafter passing through the inside of the wire;
  4. Then assembled the lamp body itself, which can take the most unexpected form. Here are some ideas for you:
    • Robot. My daughter was simply delighted with this idea, although she had to tinker with the design:

    • Snake. If you want something simpler, but just as unusual, then by connecting the pipes with different swivel fittings, you can get a very cute reptile:

    • Alien life form. If, on the contrary, you want to turn around with might and main in your creative impulse, and you have time for this, then you can build even a very unusual alien:

  1. I connected a switch and a cord with a plug, after which the work was finished.

Ideas waiting to be realized

And I have not yet managed to make these products from polypropylene pipes with my own hands:

  • Shelves... The work progress also involves the use of a soldering iron, as in the case of creating chairs, beds and tables, but you will also need a perforator with dowels to fix the structures to the walls, as well as acrylic paints to make it more in harmony with the rest of the interior appearance... Any forms can be thought up;

  • solar collector... A great way to save water heating costs in country house summer;

  • Fencing... This can be, like a fence installed around the perimeter of the cottage, and a small fence for a flower bed;

  • Swing... It is already better to stock up on pipes with a larger diameter than those that I considered earlier. There are also options for implementation here, because it can be a small hanging seat for a child, or maybe a full-fledged garden swing in the form of a sofa, which I especially like, since purchased metal models are quite expensive;

  • Removable car trunk... Yes, even your car can be upgraded with plastic cylindrical products;

  • Swimming pool... Of course, here, as in the case of a greenhouse, you will also need suitable sheathing, but assemble a rectangular frame or round shape from the material under consideration is absolutely not difficult;

  • Sleigh... You can design not only those objects that are used in summer or indoors, but also those that are suitable for winter conditions. So, for example, your child will be incredibly happy with a cute, comfortable and light snowmobile vehicle, suitable for dizzying slides;

  • Dryer for clothes... In addition, you can make it multi-level and collapsible for more convenient and multifunctional use;

  • Trash can... It is enough to create a small frame for the trash bag;

  • Notebook Stand... If you need your computer to be tilted, not horizontal, then several plastic tubes connected in a certain way will solve this problem;

  • Decorative partitions... Rings cut from polypropylene pipes and glued with walls to each other can perfectly zone a room.

Conclusion

You can play LEGO even as an adult. Only instead of multi-colored cubes it is then worth using polypropylene pipes and fittings. This will not only satisfy your thirst for design, but also allow you to acquire interesting, original, functional, practical and inexpensive things that your loved ones will also appreciate. Use your imagination and get down to business!

It's no secret that upon completion renovation works leftover materials end up in the house. Thrifty owners are in no hurry to get rid of these things. It turns out that you can make a lot of crafts out of them.

Pieces of pipes and excess fittings are no exception. Crafts made of polypropylene allow you to embody any fantasies and make useful things for household use with your own hands.

We invite you to read the article.

How can you use the remains of polypropylene pipe-rolling materials in the garden

Crafts in the form of multi-tiered beds

DIY crafts from polypropylene pipes turn out to be necessary and practical. This also happens when there is little space on the site. From such pipe products, you can build beds, consisting of many tiers.

The device of the garden is not very difficult. For them, large-diameter pipe-rolling products are prepared. They are laid on the ground, where the upper part is cut off. This is done along the entire length of the product. And holes are drilled from below through equal distances.

The blanks-beds are attached to the installed frame, a drainage layer and earth are poured into them.

These structures do not occupy a large amount of space, plantings in them do not create a shadow for each other, and they are easily disassembled and assembled.

ADVICE. Such a bed can be built even on the balcony, and then the house will always have its own freshly harvested greenery.

Plastic furniture

Tube-rolling materials have learned to apply in this area as well. Since polypropylene has a long service life, furniture comes out of it durable. For such.

By adding a little imagination and creativity, you can design interesting and stylish furniture crafts that will decorate any room.

Shelves in the nursery

It cannot be carried away or overturned strong wind... This dryer can be kept outdoors all the time without rusting or rotting. The convenient design makes it possible to rearrange the dryer at any time to the desired location.

Hangers for clothes

This is the simplest product that requires only three small cuts of polypropylene pipes. Two of them should be the same length, and the third is 1/3 longer.

These three blanks must be strung on a strong rope, which should then be tied tightly. It turns out an isosceles triangle. A wire hook is attached to the top of the triangle.

Polypropylene tube-rolling materials have proven themselves from the very best side. This was facilitated by the environmental friendliness and durability of this material. Therefore, crafts made from polypropylene pipes are in great demand.

Simple installation allows anyone who has added a little imagination to create an item that is needed in everyday life that will be used for a very long time.
