  • The easiest way to make the carrier invisible is to paint it to match the ceiling.
  • The ceiling beam can be sheathed with GKL sheets when creating a niche by running boxes around the perimeter of the room. Spotlights are usually mounted inside, making the structure not only beautiful, but also functional.
  • The option when the supporting element is completely sewn up with drywall or hidden under a stretch ceiling is only suitable for structures of small thickness or high rooms, otherwise a lot of free space will be lost and the room will become visually smaller.
  • If the interior welcomes the presence of beams, then the existing crossbar is duplicated, including in the general ensemble of decorative elements of the ceiling.
  • An original technique is to cover the ceiling and crossbars with mirrored panels.

  • Markings are applied to the floor surface, indicating the location of the beam.
  • The element is fixed on wooden wedge-beams. Their size should correspond to the parameters of the internal space of the beam. A standard 3 meter long beam can be secured using three wedge bars.
  • Holes are drilled in the bars so that it is 2 mm less than the screw for fixing.
  • The bars are fixed to the ceiling in 1 meter increments.
  • The surface of the bars and the ceiling is covered with glue for tighter fixation of the beam and its adhesion to the base surface.

To highlight the ceiling beams in the interior, use the following techniques:

  • Aging effect. Surfaces imitating antique wood are relevant for Provence, rustic, shabby chic, country and loft styles. A dry, planed softwood board can be used to create a simulation. When processing it with a carriage, fibers are selected from the surface. Previously, the board can be processed with a hatchet, creating recesses and chips on its surface. Then the dust-free surface of the board is covered with oil-wax. After a day, a layer of water-based oil is applied. After 30 minutes, rub the coating with a dry cloth.
  • Coloring. Regardless of the material of manufacture, the beam can be painted in any color - to match the ceiling or in contrast.
  • To preserve and emphasize the natural pattern of the tree, it is covered with transparent varnish. The composition enhances the shade and protects the material from harmful influences.
  • Wood is a soft and pliable material, so beams can be decorated with carved decor. The drawing is chosen depending on the style of the interior.

Should you sand before wooden surface, becomes clear when evaluating the appearance of the wood. If there are no noticeable defects on it, then grinding can be omitted.

If the question is what to choose - oil or paint, then for residential premises the best option there will be oil that does not affect the ability of the wood to "breathe".

When choosing a varnish, it should be remembered that, depending on its variety, wood acquires different effect... With a water-based polyurethane, epoxy or furniture varnish, you can enhance the natural grain of the wood.

The alkyd varnish gives the surface a shine effect, and the wood will acquire a silk shine when used instead of Pinotex varnish. This composition is also able to protect the tree from decay.

The low ceiling height in typical city apartments does not always contribute to decorating the room with false beams. More often, similar elements can be found in spacious country houseswhere the beams look natural.

However, taking into account the area of \u200b\u200b\\ u200b \\ u200bthe room for beams, you can find a place in an open-plan studio-type apartment, while the style of the room can be anything - beams belong to rather variable varieties of decor. In today's material, ideas for decorating a beamed ceiling will be presented and the properties of materials that are used to make decorative beams will be described.

Benefits of interior decoration with beams

Beams in the interior play not only a decorative role, but also perform several practical functions:

  1. Participate in the zoning of the premises;
  2. Allows you to fix designer lamps in an original way or mount spotlights;
  3. Visually enlarge the space.

Of the positive qualities of these multifunctional decorative elements, the following can be noted:

  1. In addition to the above, the beams create a special atmosphere of comfort, even in a loft or high-tech interior, not to mention all varieties of country and ethnic styles;
  2. When using beams, laid in one way or another on the surface of the ceiling - along, across or crosswise, optical effects are created that affect the perception of space parameters;
  3. The beams on the ceiling are very expressive and are the main decoration of the room, attracting attention to itself;
  4. When using false beams, you can do this yourself.

Application features

In a private house, beams are often a structural element of the ceiling overlap, therefore they are rarely sewn up and they prefer to leave them as a decorative fragment. Depending on the material of the beams, the style of the interior is chosen, and if desired, they are completely hidden under the structure of drywall.

Wooden beams will be appropriate in many styles, but more often these are ethnic and country varieties. But concrete or iron beams will organically complement urban modern styles, loft, high-tech and others.

With the help of artificial overhead beams, you can mask the flaws of the drywall suspended structure at the joints of the sheets, communications can be laid inside the elements, as well as beams can be used to fasten other design elements - lamps, flower pots, musical equipment. In the kitchen, the beams can act as a holder for kitchen utensils if they are fitted with hooks.

Zoning techniques

A distinctive feature of functional interior design is a well-implemented zoning of space.

This allows you to solve the following tasks:

  1. A massive beam located under the ceiling will help to visually divide the room into two zones;
  2. Beams parallel to a relatively wide wall help to visually make the room more elongated;
  3. If you arrange decorative elements along the width of the entire ceiling, then the room will visually appear wider;
  4. It will turn out to make the height of the room lower if you fix the beams on opposite walls at a certain distance from the ceiling;
  5. You can add volume to the room if you fix the beams directly under the ceiling;
  6. The ceiling will be perceived as more voluminous if the beams are painted in the same color as the ceiling;
  7. The beamed ceiling in the attic room looks original;
  8. For a classic interior, it is recommended to choose lacquered pastel shades of decorative elements;
  9. Contrasting decoration is chosen for Art Nouveau interiors;
  10. The light texture of the material is used in interiors in the style of Provence, shabby chic or country.

Material selection

Ceiling beams are made from several types of materials, each of which has individual properties and gives one or another decorative effect. This feature allows you to choose a material that fully meets the concept of the chosen style solution.

Wood

It is a traditional, versatile natural material that can be used in many styles. It is characterized by environmental friendliness, originality of the natural pattern, a variety of shades and methods of wood processing (varnishing, stain, oil-wax, painting, artistic carving and painting).

The wood is easy to handle, lightweight and easy to install. Beams are often made from coniferous wood. Before attaching them to the walls, the products are treated with antiseptic compounds.

The beams are fastened with self-tapping screws, and the caps are then putty and painted with paint. Hollow beams are lightweight so they can be fixed with glue.

Metal

Such structures weigh a lot, therefore, they are more often a structural feature of the building, and not created artificially. In this case, the style of the interior is selected based on the existing conditions - high-tech, loft, industrial and other urban styles will look especially expressive in such an environment.

The functionality of the room can be emphasized with the help of designer lamps that will hang from metal structures.

Polyurethane

Products from this unique modern material externally can imitate the surface of any material. Such a product is inexpensive and has a minimum weight, which allows it to be attached to glue, greatly facilitating the installation process. Installation of such elements is quick and not associated with the formation of construction waste.

Important! The indisputable advantage of this material is that it is not subject to negative influences environment and allows you to create products with any texture and shade, expanding design possibilities.

How to choose the right option

When choosing a ceiling structure, all room parameters are taken into account. The main criterion is the height of the room. For low or narrow ceilings, small room it is better to refuse additional decor - overhead decor will enhance the feeling of crampedness.

You should also make sure that the existing interior style allows for such decor. There are interior styles where the beams will introduce dissonance. Beams naturally look in austere, stylish, somewhat masculine interiors, where the natural and natural color of the material comes first.

In some cases, natural products can be replaced with artificial polyurethane products that outwardly cannot be distinguished from real wood.

Design nuances

Most country houses are made of wood, so beams are made of the same material. Such a living room will be cozy and warm, where it will be pleasant to spend evenings and receive guests. Wood is relevant in country or Provence style kitchens.

In the interior small apartment choose beams painted white. This will preserve the feeling of light and air in space and not make the perception of the situation heavier.

Rustic beams look original and blend organically nautical theme, Mediterranean, greek styles and others like them, where untreated wood creates the necessary atmosphere of naturalness and closeness to nature.

The color of the beams that matches the shade of the furniture looks organically in the interior. Original decision there will be a similar decoration of the ceiling of the bedroom in the attic, even with noticeable irregularities in the ceiling.

In some cases, beams can be found in the interior of the bathroom. It is better to replace wood here with polyurethane moisture-resistant analogs.

Choosing a design style

The design style of the beams should correspond to the interior in which they are placed, its colors and the created atmosphere:

Illustration Description

A favorite design trick is to emphasize the rich classic interior with decorative ceiling beams. With their help, you can favorably emphasize luxurious furnishings and natural wood floors. The color scheme can be light, pastel or contrasting. Sometimes the beams are decorated with artistic carvings.

In the interior in the Art Nouveau style, it is permissible to use elements made of artificial materials, the shade of which can be brighter than that of natural counterparts. Such a ceiling will be complemented by lighting fixtures that emphasize the functional areas in the interior.

In order to emphasize the luxury and nobility of this style, the beams are made of precious woods with additional antique processing.

In the Provencal style, the ceiling is decorated with white beams or those made of light wood. You can use both natural wood and artificial analogs.

Country style involves the use of exclusively natural materials, rude in appearance.

In popular modern high-tech and loft styles, you can often find beams, while the material can be absolutely anything - wood, metal, aluminum, stainless steel, polyurethane, etc.

In support of these words, we offer another selection with a photo:

Ideas for decorating a beamed ceiling are shown not only in the gallery above, but also in the video.

They use wooden beams for the ceiling as a decorative part of the interior, mainly in rustic style country. The design of the floor affects the design of the entire room. Ceiling beams made of wood are load-bearing and hemmed. As the name implies, load-bearing elements have a load if they are assigned the function ceiling slab in a multi-storey building. At the same time, there is no distributed load on the roof beams, since they are located between the attic and the living space.

Wooden beams on the ceiling have been used in the interior of the premises for a long time and now they continue to be used no less successfully. Modern methods of painting and pickling wood products allow you to create different colors and shades according to the wishes of the homeowner. The decorative wooden ceiling beams shown in the photo are installed in rooms of different purposes, since they are afraid of moisture.

Materials for wooden beams on the ceiling

Wooden ceiling beams are made from different types of wood. But mostly coniferous materials from cedar, pine, larch, spruce are used. Hardwood is used extremely rarely due to its high cost and lower strength, the only exception is oak. Materials made from it are excellent for ceiling beams, but their high cost turns out to be unacceptable for many, and it is quite difficult to make these elements from oak.

Sutured wooden beams on the ceiling, which are of considerable length and considerable thickness, usually begin to crack during drying, and they can be warped, therefore they are made from thin boards and assembled as a box.

Long since wooden house installed decorative beams on the ceiling were decorated with carvings, painted, whitewashed, etc. After a certain time, coniferous wood acquired beautiful colour, and the resin present in it served as a preservative against rot and thereby ensured a long service life of the material.

Thick beams on the ceiling make the room higher and thus form a kind of caissons on its surface. Often these ceiling elements used in the kitchen as a holder for dishes.

Decorative ceiling beams

In order for the beams to acquire a beautiful look, they are often decorated with special overlays, since elements made of natural wood are difficult to process. They are often made from valuable and expensive wood species. Using various woodworking techniques, the beams are given an antique look. While creating original interior in country style, designers place them parallel to the walls, at different angles, making them crisscross.

Styles used in the design of ceilings

In addition to "country" and Victorian, the following styles are currently used for finishing ceilings:

  • scandinavian;
  • mediterranean;
  • provence;
  • eco-style.

Ceiling beams made of modern materials

Recently, designers have often preferred artificial beams, which are made of polyurethane. In many of their characteristics, they are superior to natural wood.

To their positive qualities refers to:

  • beautiful original texture;
  • light weight;
  • quick installation;
  • wide range of colors;
  • they are not susceptible to rotting and fungal attack.

Decorative beams made of artificial materials can have a different profile, which differs in execution:

View 1 ... U-shaped products made of MDF or chipboard. Parts are connected at right angles. Veneers made of valuable wood species are glued onto them;

View 2 ... U-shaped beams are made from MDF or chipboard. Connect all parts at an angle of 45 degrees. For strength, the structure is reinforced with slats from different wood species;

View 3 ... U-shaped products made of MDF or chipboard have rounded corners. This option is great for interiors with mostly flowing lines. Corner joints in them are reinforced with a profiled rail. Beams of all three types are painted with enamels and patinated if desired.

View 4 ... Beams are made from lamellas of deciduous and coniferous trees, such as pine, ash, oak and others. These decorative products are installed when using country or Provence styles in the interior. The way they are processed is the same as in the case of natural wood.

View 5 ... The products are made of lamellas, their design is the same as for the species number 4, but the lower edges are slightly rounded. Since these beams are made from natural material, the way they are processed is like wood.

View 6 ... These products are made from solid wood. Such wooden beams on the ceiling are load-bearing and suspended. The processing is carried out as with ordinary wood.

The use of decorative beams in the interior

Decorative polyurethane beams are made in an industrial environment and therefore their appearance is standard. At the same time, all wood products are different. But finishing the ceiling with wooden beams is made difficult by the fact that these elements are heavy and inconvenient to hem to the base floor.

Spotlights can be installed in artificial products, but in those made of natural tree species, lighting establish, but this process is extremely laborious (more details: ""). This requires special tools, and to prevent a fire, the material is treated with fire retardants, and these are all additional costs and, moreover, not small ones. Beams made of artificial materials look like a hollow profile.

Installation of natural wood beams

When building a house, you must install ceiling beams. At the same time, the wood must be of high quality - dry and without rot. In no case should wet material be used, since after drying it will most likely crack and the ceiling made of wooden beams will lose its load-bearing characteristics. During installation, the ceiling structure is installed with its ends in the masonry of the walls (read also: ""). To in the future, if necessary, change a beam that has become unusable, it will take a lot of time and money and make a lot of effort.

Decorating ceiling beams with your own hands

Brushing wood is one of the ways to finish beams; you can do this work yourself without significant money spending.

To do this, you must have:

  • finished wooden beams;
  • electric drill;
  • angle grinder;
  • grinding attachments.

Coniferous wood lends itself best to brushing. For such work, you need three types of brushes:

  • metal products - for roughing;
  • synthetic products - for intermediate finishing;
  • sisal products - for polishing.

If you want to amaze guests with an imitation of damage to a tree by a bark beetle, you must have the following tools and devices at hand:

  • engraver;
  • awl;
  • engraving attachment.

Shilom depict the entrance of a bark beetle into solid wood, and, using an engraver with a nozzle, draw its movement.

Drywall in a wooden house.

There are a number of nuances when the gypsum board is laid on a rough ceiling along wooden beams. Chances are high that in buildings built a long time ago, the boarding boards are nailed. When there is no confidence in their strength, it is best to screw each board to the beams with self-tapping screws. After such attachment, they will hold securely.

Wooden ceiling from drywall is not only one-, but also multi-level. With this modern material, the configuration ceiling surface can acquire absolutely any shape, even rounded. It is also possible to mount various lighting fixtures on the ceiling.

Everyone wants to be closer to nature and have the opportunity after working days to take a break from the hustle and bustle and sit by the family hearth. Therefore, everyone approaches the interior design very carefully.

When creating any interior, you need to be as attentive as possible to small details. One has only to see how you can beat the surface with the help of strict or fancy designs.

With the help of ceiling beams, you can divide the room into several zones. If you take the kitchen and living room, then it will not be difficult to zone them using a bar counter. And the beams above it will perfectly complement the composition.

They also add texture to the room. All this is achieved through interweaving different colors and the correctness of their location.

Beams running parallel to each other look very nice. At the same time, it is good if they have a color opposite to the base of the ceiling. Alternatively, you can use wooden beams in the same tone as the ceiling.

Choosing shades of such materials, you can fantasize as you like. After all, the palette of their colors gives designers great opportunities.

You can combine light ceiling finishes with dark wood beams or imitations. The walls covered with colored wallpaper are in harmony with the ceiling structures of the same color. Antique beams will look very beautiful against the background of white walls.

How to choose for different rooms?

Ceiling beams are suitable for decorating any room in the house. They diversify the interior and give the room some originality.

Bedroom

If you take a bedroom located in the attic, then a ceiling with wooden beams is suitable for its decoration in the best way. After all, they are not so much decorative elements as load-bearing products to support the building frame.

But for the design of ordinary bedrooms, their use is rarely used. Such designs are more common in European countries. However, if the height of the walls in the room allows you to make decor in the form of beams, then you should not neglect this opportunity. They will add coziness and warmth to the bedroom interior.

White beams will look great in an interior in any style, even if it is a room with a low ceiling. Here they will look original and easy, even if you use wide floors.

Beams for the ceiling will look very appropriate in a house made of wooden beam... Such decoration will give the room naturalness, allow you to relax and feel at one with nature.

Kitchen

If the kitchen is small in size and finished in white, then in order to so that the room does not look like a hospital room, it can be diluted with wooden beams of dark shades... Wardrobes that extend right up to the ceiling will look beautiful. They seem to be a continuation of the beams.

To decorate the kitchen in Russian traditions, wide beams are often used to decorate the ceiling. This option will give it originality. A material such as stone is often used to decorate kitchens. It can be used to decorate both stoves and columns. You can beat this technique with the help of beams made of wood.

Living room

Most often, it is in the living room that beams are used for finishing the ceiling. After all, this is where the whole family gathers for get-togethers or a simple tea party. You won't surprise anyone with such a design at dachas or country houses. But their use in apartments is still not very good.

However, many creative owners still decide to take such a step, using beams from both natural materials and their imitation. This gives the apartment the warmth that is so lacking in a noisy city.

In private houses or in summer cottages, wood is more often used to decorate beams. It not only gives a warm feeling, but also serves as a curtain for ventilation and electrical wires.

For small living rooms, it is better to look for beams of pure white color, which will not allow the effect of a pressing ceiling and visually increase the space.

Bathroom

Bathroom beams are almost impossible to find in city apartments. Especially if these are multi-storey buildings under construction in the last century. In such houses, bathrooms were not only small size, but also low ceilings.

But in the country houses built now, where a large area is allocated for the bathroom and the ceilings in them are high, you can use beams... However, it is worth remembering the high humidity of such a room. therefore it is worth either using polyurethane beams, or treating wood with special substancesthat will protect against moisture.

If the owner of a house or apartment wants to finish the ceiling with beams with his own hands, you need to heed the advice of experts. They will help to correctly place the beams without harming the room.

If there is a need to make the room wider, then the beams are best placed on the "short" side. Conversely, to increase the space, beams can be placed around the entire perimeter of the ceiling. When the logs are laid crosswise, the room visually expands.

The most important role is played by the density of their location. In case the ceilings are high enough, it is better to place the beams next to each other to make them smaller. Placing low ceilings in the room, it is necessary to increase the distance between them.

Beam to beam

Regardless of the geographical origin of a rural dwelling, most people associate it with a living fire in a stove and wooden structural elements: beams, rafters. Although in our time houses are built not only of wood, but also stove heating is not a priority, however, many country house owners prefer to put a stove or fireplace and decorate the ceiling with open beams. These details add a special charm to the home, creating the atmosphere of a solid traditional home.

Ceiling beams are used to decorate ceilings even in city houses and apartments made of concrete and brick. These elements of an authentic interior are very attractive for a resident of the "stone jungle".

Thus, open beams in our time are, as a rule, not functional, but decorative. This detail is called “decorative beam”. How are decorative beams used in the interior? What effects can this interior element achieve and how is it constructed?

What are the advantages of ceiling beams in the interior?

If the ceilings are high, the beams will emphasize the volume of the room. If the room is too high, which deprives it of its comfort, the beams can be placed low under the ceiling - this will visually lower its level, and the volume of the room will feel more comfortable.

In attics and mansards, the design of the pitched ceiling with beams helps to bring order to the space - the room becomes more harmonious.

"Hollow" beams (or "pseudo-beams", false beams) can be used to mask the wiring and other communications running along the ceiling. Structures imitating beams are also used as boxes for mounting lamps.

And, of course, it should be said that decorative beams are a simple, easy to install and very inexpensive way to make the ceiling original.

What styles are ceiling beams suitable for?

Beams can decorate the ceiling in the interior of almost any style: from historical classics to ultra-modern. Well, if we are talking about interiors in ethnic styles, then the beams are exactly what the “designer ordered”.

If this is a classic with a claim to luxury, beams can be decorated with paintings, vignettes, carvings. Coloring in a delicate color or even a silver one is also suitable.

In austere classic interiors, smooth lacquered beams - dark or white - look great.

Smooth white, dark and gray beams work well for modern interiors. Here, this element looks no less impressive. The difference is that creativity and bold decisions are acceptable in a modern interior. For example, beams can be painted not only in white, dark brown or black, but also in a bright color - let's say, make them red, blue or even pink.

In loft and high-tech interiors, beams can be metallic or painted with metallic effect paint. By the way, in modern interiors, beams on the ceiling are often adjacent to those on the walls. This is an "industrial aesthetic", an appeal to the theme of old abandoned factories and warehouses, converted into modern luxury apartments.

Elements of this style ("loft") can be repeated in an ordinary small apartment. A few beams, a little facing bricks, a little glass and metal, a few "bare" bulbs and exposed wires - and you can enjoy the loft atmosphere.

For a rustic interior, of course, it is better to choose beams that imitate aged wood. Moreover, the beams here can be either light or very dark. They are distinguished by their roughness, texture. The color of the beams can be very contrasting to the entire interior and not be combined with anything.

Beams in rustic interiors

If we are talking about the French rural style (Provence), then the beams are often quite neat and "graceful". Preference is given to light, bleached beams.

Ceiling beams in the interior: color matters

Beams, contrasting with the ceiling, draw a lot of attention to themselves. If you want to focus on the beams, let them be very contrasting to the ceiling and the entire interior.

Most often, the contrasting beams are dark wood, while the ceiling is white. But the opposite solution is also possible: a dark ceiling and light beams, although it is far from so spectacular.

If the beams merge with the color of the ceiling, they draw on themselves much less attentionbut their influence cannot be overlooked. Staying in the shadows, the beams add volume to the ceiling, make it structural, and bring dynamics. By the way, speaking of beams that merge with the ceiling, they usually mean either white or "wooden" beams on the corresponding ceilings. However, you can find other solutions: for example, both the ceiling and the beams can be blue, lilac, etc.

In the case of contrasting beams, a variety of palettes are also used. For example, the beams can be white and the ceiling is blue.

The choice of the color of the ceiling and beams is made based on the style, interior colors, furniture and textiles, etc. What should be in tune with beams in the interior? With anything. They can match the color of wood floors or furniture. They can be in contrast to the ceiling canvas, but match the color of the walls. There are no strict canons here.

You just need to consider that dark beams look more bulky and heavy. White beams seem weightless. Light gray wood beams give the interior a cool, calm and serene interior. Black beams add graphicity and rhythm, making the interior dynamic and "rigid".

How to arrange beams in the interior?

Beams are capable of visually changing the geometry of the room. To visually expand the room, you need to arrange the beams in width. Well, the location along the wide side will make the room look more elongated.

In order not to change the geometry, beams can be placed crosswise (lattice). Will come out imitation of a coffered ceiling... This beamed finish adds volume to the ceiling.

Small sections of the ceiling are also decorated with beams. It can be a "lattice", and a "herringbone" made of beams, and other figures.

Beams are also used to decorate niches in plasterboard ceiling structures.

One large beam on the ceiling can divide the zones: in this case, it is mounted at the junction of the zones - for example, above the dining table, etc. Such a dividing beam is equipped with lamps.

Beams from the ceiling can go to the walls. Moreover, not a beam at all can go along the wall, but a thin strip in the color of the beam. This technique can be used to visually correct such a flaw as a low ceiling.

If the ceilings are very high, the beams can be lowered by anchoring them to opposite walls. This visually arranges too voluminous space.

Beams and decor

In the kitchen, various hooks and holders can be mounted on beams, hanging utensils and baskets on them. The bar above the bar can be equipped with glass holders.

In country-style kitchens, bunches of herbs and dried bouquets are suspended from beams.

In the rooms, lamps are built into beams or light sources, including chandeliers, are suspended from them. In modern loft-type interiors, lamps on wires or even chains are simply thrown, tied up or suspended from beams.

In fact, you can hang anything on the beams - from photo frames on chains or shelves on ropes, to a TV panel on a special ceiling bracket. If these are real beams, they even hang swings or "air" chairs on them.

Beams in the interior: from what and how?

Real full-bodied wood beams are a luxury that is available mainly only to those who live in own home... Moreover, the presence of wooden beams as architectural structural elements should be provided in advance, even during the construction phase. For the sake of aesthetics, it is not advisable to mount wooden beams in most cases: they are too heavy and expensive. It is much easier to create an imitation of wooden beams, the benefit of these imitations in appearance are indistinguishable from the original.

Imitations of wooden beams are usually made from polyurethane. Polyurethane beams are very lightweight, which greatly simplifies the installation process. Their cost is not high. They can look different: like beams made of old, cracking wood or as smoothly sanded, polished and varnished.

Another advantage of polyurethane beams is moisture resistance. They can, without fear, be actively used in the kitchen and bathroom.

The U-shape of the pseudo-beams is also a big plus. The beam is hollow inside, so it successfully performs the function of the so-called cable channel, in which you can hide wires, cables and even pipes. These beams are easy and simple to install.

Such false beams are installed in different ways. First, you can build on the ceiling in the places of the future location of the beams, a kind of lathing made of wooden or metal profiles, and then fix the beams to the crate with self-tapping screws. However, if the beams are not too large, they can simply be planted on liquid nails.

For sufficiently heavy beams, a combined method is used. First, wooden blocks (small bars) are fixed on the ceiling. The edges of the beam are greased with glue and applied to the ceiling. In this case, the beam is additionally connected with self-tapping screws to a wooden block fixed to the ceiling. The beam, secured with self-tapping screws and glue, will sit securely in its place.

Simulation of beams can be done independently - for this it is not at all necessary to buy beams made of polyurethane or plastic. Pseudo-girders can be constructed from drywall or lightweight plywood.

First, you need to decide on the size and location of the beams, then make markings on the ceiling and mount frames from metal profiles according to the markings: a separate frame for each false beams.

After that, it is necessary to cut out the parts of the required size from drywall or plywood and screw them to the frame with self-tapping screws. In fact, you get long, narrow boxes. When all the structures are ready, it remains to putty them, then sand, prime and paint.
