Features:

A house from a bar with an attic extension has both advantages and disadvantages.

pros

To begin with, it is worth noting the arguments in favor of choosing houses from natural timber. The most important of these is appearance. They look beautiful even when built by a non-professional builder. In addition, the wooden base is perfectly combined with the natural background - shrubs, trees and flowers.

Wood is an environmentally friendly material that has good noise and heat insulation properties. If you use natural wood to build or decorate a house, then it will be warm and cozy at any time of the year. Wood is a material that is naturally durable. So you can be sure that the building will stand for a long time, and its appearance will remain as attractive as immediately after the construction of the house.

And, of course, it should be noted that the profiled beam is one of the most affordable materials. This means that almost everyone can afford to build a house from it. A house with an attic is also economically profitable solution... After all, it will take a lot to build it less materialthan for the construction of a full second floor. In fact, such a house does not cost much more than an ordinary one-story building.

Minuses

The timber also has significant disadvantages. Chief among them - it is less durable than simple logs. The fact is that the structure of the annual rings in the timber is broken. But its strength can be increased using various antiseptics and special impregnations. Also, to increase the strength, the timber is sometimes tinted.

Also, despite the fact that the timber has a decent thermal insulation, it is significantly lower than that of a log.

Another disadvantage is that the timber dries out over time. Because of this, the smooth and even wall is significantly deformed. But this can also be avoided. Professionals use the longitudinal sawing technique for this purpose, thanks to which the load on the wall is less, and it does not sag.

The problem with pests and decay is also solved. But if the timber is not impregnated with special antiseptics, then there will be serious problems with the frame of the house. The same is with the refractoriness, which the timber, of course, does not initially differ. But after proper processing, the wood becomes not so susceptible to the effects of fire.

Types of materials

Today, there are several main types of timber. Each of them have their own pros and cons.

Unprofiled

One of the most common types is non-profiled timber. There are no grooves on it, which can be called a minus.

The fact is that this feature complicates the installation process. And after finishing, cracks remain on the wall. Therefore, we have to deal separately with this problem as well.

Because of this property, houses made of non-profiled timber, despite their cheapness, end up being quite expensive. The cost is influenced by additional finishing and professional services. Sinking of cracks, however, is carried out a year after construction, so there is an opportunity to save some money before moving on to the next stage of construction.

By the way, in terms of appearance, a non-profiled timber is also not the best option. It does not look very attractive, which means that you will have to additionally decorate the house both outside and inside.

When choosing a non-profiled timber, professionals recommend paying special attention to how long ago it was cut. The fact is that the wood must be very well dried, so a “fresh”, wet bar is not suitable.

Profiled

Unlike the previous version, the profiled timber is very good and easy to process. Professionals advise buying it, even if it comes out a little more expensive. As a result, the construction can cost more budget than from a non-profiled analogue.

Moreover, the material is much easier to fit due to the fact that it has special grooves. There are practically no visible seams left. But if necessary, they can be sealed with a high-quality porous sealant. A properly chosen seal is good because it does not make the house too stuffy. The building is well ventilated and no additional ventilation is needed.

As in the case of non-profiled timber, you need to buy well-dried material.

If you do right choice, then over time the walls of the house will not "shrink", and the structure will not change its appearance. So the finishing can be done immediately after the construction of the building and not wait for additional months, or even years.

Glued

Such a high cost is due to the peculiarities of creating a bar. For its manufacture, boards of different thicknesses are used, which are glued and pressed. Glued laminated timber turns out to be very hard and, accordingly, durable. It is resistant to moisture and does not dry out over time.

When creating the frame of the house, the wall turns out to be flat, practically without joints and seams. Therefore, it turns out to save on the seal. And the laying speed is much faster than in the case of profiled and non-profiled timber. True, there is also a significant disadvantage in this - the fact is that in such a project it is necessary to conduct ventilation separately, since due to the tight fit of the timber, the wall does not let air through.

Many people think that glued laminated timber is not environmentally friendly. But this is not the case. Indeed, in its manufacture, high-quality PVA glue is used, which, unlike wood glue, does not harm health.

In general, to create a log cottage, you can choose any of the proposed materials. This allows you to do wooden houses of varying degrees of difficulty and at different prices. Such country projects with a terrace and an attic are not only durable, but also beautiful, both inside and out.

Projects

Today there are many projects of houses from a bar. You can choose any option, focusing primarily on the size of the yard where the building will be erected.

If the territory of the yard is small, then a small building will have to be erected. Here you can choose a building with dimensions 6x7, 6x4, 6x6. Such houses are small, but at the same time they have sufficient area to accommodate all the necessary rooms. If you add a terrace to such a building, for example, you get a 6x9 building.

If space allows, and a large family will live in the house, then you should not save on materials, it is better to erect a building with dimensions of 8x8 or 9x9. Superfluous square meters will allow you to make rooms larger and more spacious.

However, it is not only the size of the building that should be taken into account. Now attention is paid to appearance buildings, because no one wants to live in a house that is not pleasing to the eye. A modern architectural building should be thought out as much as possible, both inside and outside. Here are some of the most popular project ideas.

7x8

7 by 8 meters is a medium-sized building. It is convenient to live in such a country house as a small family. The construction is compact and inexpensive. True, the final cost in the end always depends on the configuration of the construction site invented by the owners.

To save money, you can refuse unnecessary decor and make a choice in favor of the simplest design. In such a house there is enough space for a spacious living room with a kitchen on the ground floor. The attic floor can be set aside for a bedroom, or divided into several smaller rooms.

If you wish, you can expand the space a little, giving preference to a 7x9 project. Even in appearance, such a building will not resemble a summer cottage or a "hunting lodge".

8x9

A little more convenient and spacious is a house measuring 8 by 9. It can be erected from a bar 200 by 100 millimeters thick. Its length can reach up to ten meters. Using just such a material, you can reduce the time for building a house. At the same time, the structure is quite rigid and durable.

Houses from a bar are good in that they are cheaper, absolutely environmentally friendly, over time, cracking does not occur in them, as, for example, in houses made of rounded logs they are quite functional. So, if you add an attic to the standard design, you can get an additional living room, playroom or study. Moreover, the size of the house can be very different. But it is necessary to think over everything at the design stage.

Advantages of a 6x6 timber house with an attic

Houses from a bar with parameters 6x6 - perfect solution for suburban areawhere the building area is usually limited. Such a house is compact, small-sized, but it can easily accommodate all the necessary premises for a comfortable summer vacation. With a one-story structure, the space under the roof can be equipped with an attic, which would act as a bedroom. But it starts with design. The simplest plan is below.

With a building area of 36 m 2 of living space, 40-46 m 2 are obtained. For walls and partitions, a profiled beam of 100x150 mm is used, but 150x150 mm can also be taken. Flax-jute linen serves as a heater. The roof is gable or hip. In this project, the attic room is designed for one bedroom, so the roof can be gable.

The result: a neat, small, environmentally friendly wooden house. But this project does not provide for a bathroom, utility rooms and can only be equipped with a single-flight ladder. But it has a very spacious bedroom - 24 m 2.

A more complex project of a 6x6 house, with a bathroom, a hall and two bedrooms on the attic floor, might look like this.

Such a house is more functional, but requires more serious engineering and technical developments: water supply, sewerage, a good ventilation system and insulation. It is better to make the roof attic, then the second floor will save more space and light. Pavement houses of this type are well suited for summer cottages where the family spends most of the summer time. They look simple but elegant and modern at the same time.

Plans of houses from a bar 6x8 with an attic

The 6x8 block houses also have completely different layouts. Depending on the number of family members and the requirements for the future structure, projects of houses from a bar with an attic can be quite ergonomic and simple, as in the project below.

To save space, it is recommended to combine all additional zones in one technical room. So in the bathroom you can install a boiler room. Dressing room and dressing room combine in the hall adjacent directly to the entrance. If we make both rooms small - 2.55 m, then there will be enough space for a small terrace.

On the ground floor there is a spacious kitchen, where you can equip a dining room and a living room. The attic is a large bedroom. The advantage of the house is its simple layout; the project itself is easily implemented within a few months. Both profiled and glued beams are used as the main material. The first is superior in technical specifications... It is stronger and more durable, easier to work with.

The second type of project is a little more complicated. Photo further.

This layout will be a good solution for a family with children or for those who are always glad to have guests. The bedroom on the ground floor can be easily converted into a guest room. And if one of the bedrooms in the attic is not useful, it can be converted into gym, billiard room, game room or study.

If you supply the house with all the necessary engineering and technical elements, it will be suitable for use in all seasons. The configuration of windows, roofs and the location of the main entrance can be selected individually.

If desired, the attic floor is complemented by a spectacular balcony, which gives more space, light and clean air. In the warm season, such a balcony will become good place for a secluded getaway. There is a small terrace on the ground floor, where it will also be pleasant to spend time.

Advantage: block houses do not require special foundation costs. With dimensions 6x8, columnar or screw types are suitable, which are quickly mounted, but fully withstand the load.

House with parameters 7x8 and an attic

A 7x8 construction from a bar will cost almost half the price of a brick or stone one. The project below provides for a small vestibule, a sufficiently large kitchen-dining room and a living room on the ground floor. The attic is represented by two bedrooms and a large hall.

For construction, a profiled beam of 100x150 mm is used for strapping and 140x90 mm for the construction of walls. Edged boards of 25 mm are suitable for the rough floor, 36 mm tongue-and-groove boards for the finishing floor. The foundation is pile or screw. The roof can be made onduline. In total, at minimal cost, a very beautiful, durable country house is obtained. And the savings will come in handy for finishing work.

Models of houses with a central entrance look interesting, which can be very interesting to decorate at the final stage. The project of such a house is as follows.

An example of a 7x8 house made of profiled timber with an attic floor and a balcony.

Project of a 9x9 block house with an attic

Houses of this type are designed depending on their intended purpose. It can be a spacious country cottage, a house for permanent residence or a beautiful summer cottage where you can relax with a large company. The purpose of the building will determine the number of rooms, their location, the presence of additional technical rooms (boiler room, sauna, boiler room, bathroom, terrace, balconies, etc.).

Layout of the most unassuming building.

The house has two spacious rooms on the first and one on attic floors... As well as a terrace and a balcony. This model does not provide for any additional premises, therefore it is more often chosen for the construction of simple summer cottages, without a kitchen and any engineering systems.

Everything is built quite quickly (2-3 months) and with minimal cost... The result is a very attractive building with a living area of 77.4 m2.

A more expensive project with a kitchen, utility room, bathrooms, an office and 4 rooms, which are equipped at the discretion of the owners, looks like this:

In the end, a cobbled house will look something like this. Color range exterior finishes can be selected based on your own preferences.

The nuances of building block houses

At the planning stage of the future home, in parallel with the virtual placement of all rooms, materials for the implementation of the project are determined.

 1. Which timber to use. Sliced is the cheapest material, but its quality is also low. Profiled - easy to use, creates a solid structure without cracks, does not dry out over time, is in an average price position. Glued is an expensive, but the most durable and not subject to deformation building material made of wood, usually coniferous.
 2. Foundation. For houses 6x6, 6x8 and 7x8, you can make a screw or columnar, but for sizes 9x9, it is better to put a tape
 3. Roof. It is best to use ondulin or roofing material. And to make a reliable layer of sound insulation, no matter what material the roof is created from, wind or rain without a sound-absorbing layer will interfere with good rest.
 4. If the house will be used in the cold season, it is worth laying high-quality thermal insulation. Waterproofing is a must in any case, as wood is hygroscopic.
 5. When creating a project, it is necessary to take into account how many people and what ages will live in the house. Elderly people need a bedroom on the ground floor. Little children should sleep closer to mom and dad, but teenagers need personal space away from their parents, and this is where the attic comes in handy.
 6. The timber is not the most fireproof material, so it must first be treated with special refractory solutions.

Why do you need a house project at all? Without it, it will not only be impossible to control the correctness of construction, the consumption of materials and compliance with the architectural concept, if necessary, the house cannot be sold without project documentation, since it is actually illegal.
