Step-by-step algorithm for splitting a flower garden

At present, people are increasingly interested in land. Urban residents more and more often acquire land in countryside, and strive to grow there not only environmentally friendly vegetables and fruits for their table, but also to decorate the free territory with different flowers and ornamental shrubs.

This article describes in detail how to break a flower garden into personal plot... Here you will read about the basic elements of a skilful flower garden that will give an attractive look to the entire plot. The information in the article is available to any novice gardener.

A flower bed is the most common of all types of flower beds. It is distinguished from other flower beds by the presence of a clear geometric shape in the form of an oval, circle, rectangle or square, triangle, star or rhombus. The correct flower bed always has some elevation above the surface of the ground or lawn and beautifully designed borders.

  1. Project preparation. Think about what kind of flower bed, what kind of flowers or color combinations you would like to see in your garden. It is better if the flower garden looks decorative all season.

Beginners should opt for a monoclumba in which you can plant flowers of the same type. This is the easiest option and a good opportunity to gain experience with flowers. For a monoclumba, marigolds, ageratum, petunias, pansies, begonia, etc. are suitable. If you wish, you can plant dahlias or create a small rose garden.

If you are already confident in your abilities and capabilities, then create a combined irregular flower bed with a selection of flowers in such a way that when some bloom others bloom. Usually, perennial plants are used in such a flower bed, for example:

- blooming in spring: snowdrop, lumbago (sleep-grass), subulate phlox, chionodoxa, crocuses, daffodils;

blooming from late spring to mid-June: peonies, catchment, irises, carnation, coreopsis,;

blooming all summer: rudbeckia, Gaillardia, lilies, yarrow, codonopsis, mazus, echinacea purpurea, flax, monarda double, onosma, paniculata phlox, ostrich, hosta, sage;

- blooming in autumn: aconite, catnip, Hubei anemone, aster.

When self-designing a continuously flowering flower bed, select plants not only for flowering periods, but also with the same requirements for illumination, soil moisture and frost resistance. This is a lengthy, but necessary step for a spectacular flower bed. If time is limited, use finished projects from the Internet. Draw a future flower bed on a sheet of graph paper, observing the proportions, or create a project in one of the special landscape modeling programs, for example, in.

  1. Choosing a place for a flower bed. So, if you set out to create a flower bed that arouses admiration, then you need to pay due attention to the preparation of the site. First of all, determine a suitable place for your future flower bed. It is desirable that it be sunny place, in size from 2 to 5 m 2, with access to water for irrigation and with the ability to approach the flower bed from all sides.
  2. Site preparation. The device of a flower garden must begin with the designation of its boundaries. To do this, you need to use a tape measure and pegs, which are driven into the ground along the border set aside for the flower garden. The pegs are placed from each other at a distance of 20 cm, depending on the shape of the future flower bed, and a string is pulled through them, which is a clear indication of the outline of the flower bed.

More simple option to mark the boundaries will be the use of a rope or a watering hose, laid out in the shape of a flower garden. But there is a risk of getting an uneven contour due to possible movement of the hose. Further, to designate a flower bed, it is dug in with a shovel around the edges, while the earth is thrown into the center of the flower garden.

But, if the breakdown of the flower bed is done on the lawn, then first you need to remove the sod, after watering this area well. With a sharp shovel, the turf is cut along the border of the flower garden and cut into narrow strips, which are rolled up, while chopping the roots with a shovel and clearing the layer from the lower side of excess earth. This is a rather laborious process and it is better to perform it together. The task can be facilitated by removing the sod in small square pieces, which, if desired, can be useful elsewhere for turfing the soil surface.

Now organic fertilizers in the form of compost or humus are added to the flowerbed at the rate of 10 kg per 1 m 2 and they dig up the soil by at least 15 cm, choosing weeds with roots. If the soils are poor, infertile, then for digging, you can add phosphorus-potassium fertilizers approximately 50 g per 1 m 2.

The dug surface is carefully leveled with a rake, removing all pebbles and remaining weeds from the flower bed, watered and left for several days for organic and mineral fertilizers to pass into an accessible form for plants.

  1. Drawing a picture (contours of the future flower bed). Let's consider how to mark a flower bed using a drawing on paper. To do this, the drawing must be transferred to the ground, which seems complicated only at first glance.

They find the center of the flower bed, into which a peg is driven in and a rope is tied to it. At the other end of the rope, a second peg is tied, which is used as a compass. Figured grooves and curved lines are drawn on the ground along the stretched rope, which serves as a guide.

If the drawing is simple, it can be drawn on the ground immediately by hand. But it must be remembered that straight rows in a flower garden look pretty boring. To diversify the ornament, circles, waves, curls are used. For clarity of the drawing and a clear definition of the boundaries for each type of flowers, all drawn furrows are covered with sand, the pegs are removed.

All trampled places must be loosened again without disturbing the pattern.

  1. Planting flowers. They begin to plant flowers in the center of the flower bed, moving in a checkerboard pattern to its edges. In this case, the tallest plants are placed in the center, and low ones are planted along the edge.

With a garden scoop, along the border, sprinkled with sand, they dig a hole into which a flower taken out of a pot is placed. In the process of planting, they try to injure the root system as little as possible. The earth around the planted plant is compacted and the process is repeated again until all flowers of the same species are planted or until one of the elements of the pattern is completely filled.

A simpler method of planting flowers is used in mixborders - a flowerbed with one-sided view. Depending on the shape of the site, the location of buildings on it and the availability of free space for flowers, the mixborder can be placed along a wall, fence or path. In this case, the plants are arranged in tiers. The lowest flowers are planted in the foreground, in the subsequent tiers, the height of the plants gradually increases, and the tallest plants are planted closer to the wall.

If the width of the flower garden is more than 2 m, then not only shrubs and conifers, but also trees can be included in the composition, which will give structure to the flower garden and increase its decorative effect in the spring-autumn period. But, it must be borne in mind that they can darken the flower garden.

  1. Flower bed edging. To give the flower bed a complete look, plants such as

The vegetable garden has been dug up, the seedlings are already ready for planting, but in addition to vegetables and useful crops, I would like to draw attention to the beauty of the garden, namely the fence of the flower beds. Flowers growing one by one or in pairs, descending in garlands from the balcony boxes, or arranged in a single composition under the windows of your beloved home, will give joy after a hard day and allow you to take a break from work. But how can this beauty be preserved? How to protect flowers from the ubiquitous lawn-mower fishing line, from children who are always running somewhere, from dogs that try to lie down on them? Let's consider several examples of making a fence using available materials and the minimum number of tools.

Natural stone border

The stone is not the enemy of plants. Many people know that sculptures made of durable granite, centuries later, have brought to this day the beautiful faces of ancient women and the muscular torsos of men. Frozen in stone, they are still striking in their beauty.

And why not use this durable material to decorate adorable petunias, lupines, cosmes, marigolds. Granite and marble, of course, are not the cheapest option, but you can resort to the help of improvised representatives of the stone world, for example, cobblestones, which can be found almost everywhere. Having made a considerable supply, you can impose a large enough one, thereby protecting it from lawn mowers and other cutting tools.

Variants of forms of a natural stone fence depend only on the imagination of the author and the amount source material... The advantage of this fence is durability, and the disadvantage can be considered a small height and, over time, natural subsidence deep into the soil.

A fence for a flower garden from wooden pegs

I'm tired of the old skirting board, why throw it away? Miniature, up to 20 centimeters, wooden fences are very unusual and look pleasant, protecting medium-sized plants. The construction of such a fence will take several hours and a couple of three meters of the old plinth.

  1. First of all, you need to decide on the height, mark it on the base, and saw off the pegs, of which the fence will consist.
  2. For the convenience of inserting such blanks into the ground, it is advisable to make an acute angle from one edge, and leave the top straight.
  3. The pegs are either dug in or driven into the ground by 5-10 cm, for greater strength. Thus, the workpiece is a peg 30-35 cm long.

The advantage of such a fence is its original form... The disadvantages include the difficulty of setting a straight line, but using a level, you can achieve greater accuracy.

Glass bottle fencing - simple and affordable

Glass is not a new material, and even less expensive. After all, for sure in your house, there is sometimes a bottle of beer, champagne, Coca-Cola or lemonade near the trash can. They will serve as an excellent basis for decorative fence... All you need to do is collect required amount glass bottles. For a medium-sized flower bed, you will need about 20-30 pcs. Behind winter period it will not be difficult to collect such an amount.

The construction technology is extremely simple, having pulled out a small hole, you need to stick the glass bottle with the neck down and dig it in for greater strength. The usual building level will help to maintain a straight horizontal line.

Glass bottle fences are durable, and look great next to low plants.

Considering possible ways landscaping a flower bed, each owner is looking for the most simple and affordable option... It is easier than creating a fence with stone chips, wood, or glass bottles. Let's look at a few more design options for floral splendor:

Wooden rods and tree branches as a decorative fence

Twigs and branches - for a fire or for work? Constructing an original obstruction from the branches of an old tree that has fallen under an ax - there is nothing easier! Naturally, branches are taken as a basis, but their selection is very important.

To decorate the flower bed, it is advisable to use straight or slightly curved rods. Branches with knots or shoots are not suitable for work, since with the growth of green spaces, the stems will hang and cling to them. Straight branches should preferably be barked and dried. Impregnation of them with antifungal agents is also ideal, but not necessary.

The construction of such a fence is done as follows:

  1. Straight base stakes are driven into the ground at a distance of 10-15 cm, rods or branches are laid out between them;
  2. Fastening, for greater stability, is carried out with a twine or fishing line. The height of the structure depends on the number of rows thus laid.

The advantages of the design are simplicity of execution and naturalness. appearance... The disadvantages include a small durability, in general, from 2 to 3 years, and the possibility of warping under the influence of weather conditions.

Another option for wicker fences is a vine hedge. It looks very aesthetically pleasing. The method is similar to the construction of branches and twigs, only due to the length of the main material in the process of laying out the rows, the main peg-supports are intertwined.

The advantages of this version of the beautification of the flower bed are its excellent combination with the landscape and aesthetically simple appeal. The downside is that a short service life and possible corrosion of the material. To correct these shortcomings, wood processing tools will help.

Macrame in garden design

The macrame technique, which is based on a special weaving of threads, can be beautiful and unusual option flower beds design. Naturally, strong twine will serve as the main material. You can take any drawing. Detailed diagrams can be found on the Internet or in craft magazines.

The original baubles will be fastened with wooden pegs, which can also be braided to match the main motive. The advantage of this work is its originality. The disadvantages include a fairly long operating time and a short service life.

Fence from dishes (photo)

Dishes beat happily. There are three plates left from your favorite set, which are not only ashamed to put on the table, but also insulting to tears. The saucer is cracked or split in half, it doesn't matter, we collect the fragments for the fence, they will serve as an excellent basis for creative design flower beds.

Simply stuck in the ground or embedded in a cement mortar, once works of ceramic art, today will become original decoration flowering plants... The simplicity, durability and uniqueness of such a fence is an undoubted plus, the minuses include only some danger to children, because it can split and injure.

DVDs playable by the sun

Many video and audio lovers often have a fairly large number of unnecessary disksthat have already lost their content millions of times and lost their freshness and quality. By combining them with a paper clip, wire or fishing line into a single canvas and fixing them on peg bases, you can give the flower bed an unusual, bright and shiny, in all respects, look.

The disadvantage of such an undertaking is only a short service life of this fence. Otherwise, she can become original decision in landscape design any site.

Plastic bottles - flight for imagination

The rest after the feasts can also come in handy for a flower bed decorator. Inserted like glass bottles, carefully painted in different colours, illuminate the green space with bright notes.

However, it is worth remembering that plastic is subject to deformation when the temperature changes, therefore, before directly inserting the bottles into the ground, it is worth carefully filling them with sand. Possible deformation, when influenced by weather conditions, is a minus of these fences.

Decorative fences enclosing your flower garden

Items such as old fence, remnants of roofing tiles or wall plastic, unused metal tape in a roll, forged Products and other improvised material can become an interesting basis for creating a flower fence.

Their presence, in various configurations, will add a touch of chaos and modern colors to the green ornament of plants, forcing the hosts and guests suburban area look at the classic forms from a different angle.

The variety of design options for flower beds, at times, amazes the most experienced florist. Wood, glass, stone chips, knitting, weaving and many other materials reveal countless creative ideas owners of summer cottages and simply lovers of aesthetics and beauty.

Consider a few more ideas aimed at fencing for flower beds, in which improvised non-standard materials are used.

Stone curb - a classic option for fencing a flower bed in the country

The creation and decoration of flower beds is undoubtedly a fascinating creative activity, and the flight of imagination here is hardly limited to the usual forms and materials.

Creating, against the background of favorite plants, an object of landscape art, each owner will be able to feel like a creator of something new, unusual, original. The main thing is a positive attitude and focus on a truly grandiose result.

Today I want to talk about my flower garden and grateful flowers, as well as about my mistakes, maybe someone will come in handy.
We moved into the house in November, but it was already clear that we would have to "plow and plow" on the site. To remove the sick " hedge"44 trees had to be uprooted. But it became sunny on the site.

In the spring, the first thing we did about the lawn, I made the first crumb of a bed of flowers. It looked then still a pity

And then, one day I come home from work, and my husband has already made a shed for the trailer

I think: "It won't work, you have to break up the flower garden, otherwise my husband will take all the place." And the work began ... We marked the flower garden at 18 meters.
The soil is clay, do not drive a shovel. What to do?
To the Internet! And in that bearded 2008, he had only two answers to this question - sand and sawdust. They brought in sand, dug it up, a couple of watering and again asphalt.
They brought in sawdust, dug it up, even worse, it turned out to be plasticine.

And the flowers are already growing and asking for help!
And then I was lucky, I got to not quite a master class, but like a conference, a question-answer of a Dutch grower and asked him a question about her own. soil. The answer turned out to be so simple ... He said that sand and sawdust are harmful, try to collect clay in a container, weigh it, add sand, weigh it. they have become much heavier, this is how the sand makes the clay heavier, and if you add water, you get a construction mixture, sawdust, absorbs everything, but gives nothing away. He said that the problem with clay is not that it is dense, but that it is cold. This is where you need to "dance".
And then I remembered ... in the villages, the cracks in the walls were covered with a mixture of clay + sand + water, and sawdust was thrown onto the litter of the piglets, they absorbed moisture and the floor remained dry. That is, these were my mistakes ...
And I decided not to dig, not to loosen, only to try to "warm". My husband mowed the grass from the lawn, I laid it out in the shade, dried it on the flower garden, first with a thin layer. After a couple of waterings, the grass disappeared, no, it did not overheat, it just disappeared, as if it was being sucked into the clay. Then she began to lay a layer a little thicker, the same thing. It reminded me of how to feed a homeless hungry chick, little by little. And again, again, again ... I'll say right away that this process is not for one year, I have been doing this since 2008 and now I have such a soil in my flower garden that I can break it open with my hand. But all these years I have not been digging a flower garden, not loosening it, only feeding it with grass. If you need to plant something, I make a hole with a garden peg.
I began to treat the earth as if it were alive. Earlier, many human diseases were treated with bloodletting, but now they give injections, that is, they treat with little blood. So I used to cut the earth, but now only injections.
But for myself, I made a couple of conclusions - if annuals sprout by self-sowing, the last mulching in the fall should be done before dumping the seeds, and the first in spring after the emergence of flowers, because it is very difficult for self-sowing to break through the mulch layer. If I plant something with seedlings, for example, astro, I do mulching after disembarkation.
After mulching "before winter", I lightly sprinkle it with earth on top, otherwise the birds will arrange a chicken coop and rake it, and the wind will not spread dry grass.
According to the results, all the flowers begin to bloom earlier than the neighbors, and continue to bloom longer, do not get sick, are "cheerful", I do not give additional fertilizers.
I propose to see what happened as a result of the results for the last year
I'll start with lilies

When you start decorating your site, you need to know not only how to set up a flower garden, but also how to care for the planted plants. Considering what crops you plant, the cultivation technique will depend. Do not try to plant flowers as thick as possible, because every year perennials will grow both upward and in breadth, which means that they will need more and more space.

Before arranging a flower garden, choose a suitable place for this. In most cases, it should be well lit and protected from strong wind... Regardless of whether you want to arrange one large flower bed or place several small flower beds on a selected area, preparatory work will be the same anyway.

Before you break up a flower garden on a site, first sketch on a sheet of paper for the location of flower and decorative plantings on the site. Be sure to indicate the grid with the footage, the names of the crops and their location.

Arrangement of a flower garden in the country: transferring a grid from a plan to a plot

After the plan for the arrangement of the flower garden has been drawn up, the time comes for its implementation, as they say, in life. To do this, using a wooden stick, you need to transfer the grid from the plan to the selected area, and then outline the contours of future flower beds. As you work, check the lines in each square of the plan with the lines in each cell of the grid drawn on the ground. Make the finished contour of each flower garden clearer by laying a thick cord along it.

To develop the flower garden in the way that the correct technology suggests, after going back a few steps or climbing a dais, check the correctness of the forms, make adjustments if necessary. After that, dig up the soil in the flower garden, first cutting through the soil along the contour, and then digging it up inside the flower bed.

When arranging a flower garden with your own hands, carefully remove the roots from previous plantings. Dig a small groove along the edge, then place a curb in it. It should rise 10-12 cm above the ground.

Before planting plants, in order to break a flower garden in the country, you need to apply fertilizer to the treated soil. Heavy clay soil, as well as sandy and peaty, require organic and mineral fertilizers with the addition of compost. After that, dig up the earth again, and then carefully loosen it.

These photos show how to break a flower garden on the site:

How to set up a flower garden in the country: a choice of beautiful plants (with photo)

It is not enough to observe the correct technology for arranging a flower garden - it is necessary to decide on which type of plants in terms of life expectancy it is better to choose for planting. There are three main groups - annuals, biennials and perennials. The first bloom takes place within one season after planting. Biennials and perennials usually bloom in the second year.

Sowing varieties of annual plants on modern market there is a great variety, so the choice is very rich. They can be grown as seedlings or sown directly into the ground. After planting, after 7-10 weeks, the plants begin to bloom. Some of them bloom until late autumn.

Perennial plants are also considered annuals, which, due to climatic conditions this or that area is not left for the winter in the open field.

The life cycle of biennials lasts for 2 years. In the first year, leaves appear, and flowering begins only in the second year.

Perennials, one might say, are very unpretentious, since they grow in the same place for many years, without requiring a transplant or any kind of care.

Perennial plantsusually bloom in the second or third year of their life. They can grow on poor soil, next to a reservoir in the shade, usually these plants are decorated with alpine slides.

To set up a flower garden beautifully, as you saw in beautiful photographs, it is better to plant several types of plants together: since all of them bloom at different times, your flower bed will delight the eye all season.

Reproduction of perennial plants is carried out using bulbs, tubers, seeds, cuttings, as well as by dividing the bush. Despite the fact that most perennials do not require special care, a special approach is needed to grow bulbs and tubers.

Look at the photo of how to set up a flower garden in the country and what plants you can plant:

How to arrange a flower garden: planting plants

Now is the time to plant the plants. When arranging a flower garden in the country, annuals are usually planted in flower beds in May, however, some annual crops will bloom well if the seeds are sown directly into the ground, and after the shoots appear, thinning is carried out. Sowing can be done in winter. In this case, the seeds are sown in late October or early November.

Biennial crops must be planted in the ground in August or September (this is done so that the plants take root faster). They can also be planted in early spring.

Planting of perennial crops in the ground is carried out in autumn and spring. The main thing is that the plant has time to take root before the first autumn frosts.

Bulbous crops are planted in a flower bed either at the end of August or at the beginning of September.

If the flower garden is small in size, it is best to plant two or three types of plants in it, which are well combined with each other not only in color, but also in terms of flowering, and also have a beneficial effect on each other when grown together. In the event that you could not find plants that bloom at the same time, you can plant a flower garden with aromatic herbs that do not lose their attractiveness in appearance even when there are no flowers on them.

How to set up a flower garden on the site and how to care for it

If you are going to break a flower garden with your own hands, you should keep in mind that you need to constantly look after it. This primarily concerns watering. Plants are watered immediately after planting, even if the soil is moist enough. Annual crops need to be watered every day until they take root, and then every other day. Perennial plants require frequent watering only in the first year, and in subsequent years only during drought.

Watering plants is necessary in the early morning or evening, when the sun is low above the horizon. During the day, watering is not carried out due to the fact that crops can get burned, and the soil can crack.

Taking care of the flower garden, you need to periodically clean it of dried leaves and stems, remove old inflorescences. In addition, you should regularly weed the beds and loosen the soil in them, and fertilize the crops. Removing weeds and loosening is needed in order to retain moisture in the soil, as well as to maintain air exchange.

It is necessary to loosen the soil some time after heavy rain or watering. Loosening of annuals is carried out to a depth of 5 cm, perennials - to a depth of 10 cm.To avoid damage to the roots of young plants, the soil next to the bushes is loosened to a depth of no more than 3 cm.

Top dressing of flower and ornamental crops is usually carried out with the use of mineral and organic fertilizers. As organic fertilizer a solution of cow manure and poultry manure diluted with water is used.

When arranging and maintaining a flower garden in a personal plot mineral fertilizers are introduced into the soil both in dry and liquid form (solution). Such a fertilizer is prepared from the following components: 25 g of ammonium nitrate, 50 g of superphosphate, 15 g of potassium fertilizer (per 1 m2). Liquid top dressing has a stronger effect, but remember: it must not get on the leaves, as well as the roots of crops.

Fertilizing of annual plants is carried out 2 weeks after planting, and then after 1 month. Perennial crops require feeding 2-3 times every year. The first time it is carried out in the spring, the second - before the plants bloom, and the third - at the end of their flowering.

It is difficult to imagine a dacha without flowers - on any site there will always be at least a few flowering bushes. And for real flower-lovers of odes, the dacha from afar attracts attention with an abundance of colorful flower beds and flower beds, arches of roses and clematis. Everyone can make flower beds in the country with their own hands, and the most ordinary materials will do for this.

Flower beds differ in shape, size, flowering time, compositional combinations. Most often, the following types of flower beds are used in the country:

It should be noted that vertical, suspended and multi-level compositions require not only constant care, but also high costs. In addition, the very process of creating such a flower garden is very laborious. The easiest way is to lay an irregular or mono flower, and the correct arrangement and selection of plants will make it spectacular and attractive.

To create original flower beds, many craftsmen adapt any materials at hand. These can be old tree stumps, fallen tree trunks, car ramps, unnecessary plastic barrels, wooden crates, and even real cars that have fallen into disrepair. Borders from natural stone, glass bottles, wicker vines.

In order for the composition to always look bright and fresh, and at the same time in harmony with the surrounding landscape, you need to carefully select not only the shape of the flower garden and the materials for its bookmark, but also the plants themselves. Moisture-loving flowers should not be placed in small containers, especially suspended ones, where the soil dries out much faster. For vertical and arched structures, you need to select climbing vines with abundant flowering and a large number of leaves. In multi-level flower beds, you cannot plant tall, dense plants in the foreground, otherwise they will cover everything else.

Bookmark a simple flower garden

In the process of work you will need:

  • shovel;
  • crushed stone;
  • stones for the border;
  • cement mortar;
  • black soil.

Step 1. Choosing a location

The choice of a place for a flower garden is the most crucial stage. A lot depends on what kind of plants will be planted there: some flowers like open, well-lit areas, others prefer shade, and others need a barrier from drafts and wind. Inappropriate conditions reduce the decorative effect of flowers and the flower bed loses its attractiveness.

Step 2. Markup

When the place is chosen, markings are made in the desired shape. It can be a circle, oval, square or rectangle, any other geometric shape. The perimeter of the flower garden is marked with a string stretched on pegs. If the soil on the site is soft, not overgrown with grass, you can simply outline the contours with a sharp twig.

Step 3. Preparing the pit

Inside the perimeter, a layer of earth is selected with a shovel to a depth of 20-30 cm. For drainage, the bottom is laid out with crushed stone, broken brick or stone, well leveled and tamped. If the groundwater is located too high on the site, before laying the drainage, the bottom is lined with a film or roofing material, the edges of which are brought out and temporarily strengthened with stones.

Step 4. Border decoration

Now you need to decorate the walls of the flower garden: using cement mortar a border of stones is laid along the perimeter of the pit. If the site is completely overgrown with grass, a shallow trench 15 cm wide is dug around the pit and filled with fine gravel or gravel.

Step 5. Planting plants

When the solution hardens, the flower garden is filled with fertile soil and left for 1-2 weeks. During this time, the soil will compact a little and settle, so you will have to add more black soil. Then it remains only to plant flowers and level the soil.

The curb can be made not only from stones or bricks; The edging of bottles dug down with the neck, of short wooden rods, of neatly cut planks looks great. If a composition is created from several flower beds at once, the borders should be the same.

If there are old dead trees on the site, they will be an excellent material for small picturesque flower beds. You can use not only trunks, but also stumps, as well as round cuts of thick branches. So, the tree is cut down, leaving a stump from 30 to 70 cm high.Using the tools at hand, a depression is knocked out on top of such a size so that the flowers can take root well. On one side, a through hole is drilled through which excess moisture will drain.

The walls of the stump must remain thick enough, otherwise the moisture will cause the tree to collapse faster. Another important point: if the cause of the death of the tree was a disease, and not old age or the influence of external factors, it cannot be used for a flower garden. The disease can spread to flowers, and all efforts will be in vain. In any case, processing the stump with protective equipment will not be superfluous.

The finished stump is filled with fertile soil and left for ten days. When the soil shrinks, add more, slightly compact and level. After that, you can start planting plants. When choosing flowers, you should take into account the diameter and height of the stump: in small ones, it is enough to plant a couple of tulip or daffodil bulbs and plant some small perennial, but a whole tree will fit on large diameter stumps flower composition... In stumps from 0.5 m high, ampelous flowers or undersized vines look great.

Tree trunks are also easy to adapt to decorate a summer cottage. Barrel length and diameter of particular importance Dont Have.

So, the process of making a flower garden from a log has the following order:

  • the tree is cut on both sides, the branches are sawed off;
  • remove the bark if necessary;
  • stepping back from the edge 15-20 cm on the trunk make a cross cut with a hacksaw;
  • from the other end, perform the same actions;
  • the wood between the cuts is knocked out to make a container in the form of a trough;
  • the bottom is drilled in 2-3 places, the inner walls are treated with an antiseptic;
  • fill the inside of the log with soil and compact a little.

After a few days, the soil must be filled up, and after that flowers can be planted.

The flower garden created from the cuts of old acacia looks original. To do this, the tree trunk is sawn into several pieces 20 cm thick. The bark must be left, it gives the composition a natural look. The middle is knocked out of the cuts, leaving a thin bottom. If you did not succeed in doing this carefully, and the bottom turned out to be punched, a piece of plywood or a wide board should be filled from below.

A flower garden is formed: three cuts are laid out on a flat tamped area so that they touch each other closely. Fill them with fertile soil and sprinkle with coarse wood shavings or chips. Another cut is placed on top, placing it exactly in the center of the composition. The upper saw cut is also filled with soil and the plants are planted. It is important to choose flowers correctly here. So that they combine with each other and do not cover the walls of the flower garden.

Overturned barrel flower garden

Such original flower beds are a good solution for hilly areas. Almost any elongated container is suitable for creating a composition. It can be plastic and wooden barrel, aluminum can, buckets different sizes... Moreover, the container is suitable even with damage, because only one side remains visible.

Select a suitable elevation and slightly excavate its top. Lay the barrel or bucket on its side and add it well so that the container does not move. Inside, the bottom is lined with mulch film and soil is poured. The slope located at the hole of the barrel is carefully loosened, cleaned of weeds and also sprinkled with flower soil. When the ground settles down, you can plant undersized flowers.
