Many people dream of a house in the village. First you need to decide how the layout of a village house will look like, and only after that, start creating a project.

Sample project and layout of a village house

Having chosen a site, it is necessary to register it with the local municipality, after which, and if something else is being built, then be sure to include it in the project. Now this scheme needs to be submitted for approval. The approved project and documents of the registered plot should be submitted to the municipality for approval. And only after it is approved, you can start building.

The main stages have been passed, but during the construction there will be nuances and questions that also need to be addressed. You can order a project of a village house in architectural firms or a construction organization. There are those who can create a building project and implement it. It can be more expensive than hiring multiple developers, but easier.

Simple project of a village house

This is because the house will be built by one organization, and they most often give ready-made projects for free. This does not mean that the projects are bad. Free in this case is a gift if the house is built by that company. Before the foundation is laid, you need to think about how it will look, taking into account the area of the building itself.

The layout of the house includes:

 1. House height, number of floors,.
 2. Heating and sewerage pipes are required.
 3. if there is one.
 4. Location and dimensions of additional buildings in the courtyard of the house.
 5. Entrance to the house.
 1. Location of rooms on floors.
 2. Pipes. Carrying out sewer pipes and pipes for heating.
 3. The location of all windows and doors.
 4. Annex building. What size it should be and where it should be located.
 5. Wall thickness (this depends on the material from which the house will be).

Maybe.

To do this, you need to know the rules for creating projects. There are many computer programs and online services. Both can help. All points mentioned above will need to be entered in project being created houses. All questions that arise must be taken into account. Otherwise, for example, the pipes will not fit in their assigned place. It is worth leaving this to the professionals.

Experts know better where it is better to round the corner, and where to make a straight line. On their account various projects village houses, projects of one-story private houses and planning projects with an extension, heating and everything else.

Reconstruction or build

If the house has a basement, then it is necessary to calculate the height of the foundation. Hire an excavator, dig holes for the foundation and for the sewer. Only after that the foundation is laid according to the project of the house.
After the foundation, the walls of the house are erected. It is necessary to erect them, leaving space for windows and doors.

3D layout of a small village house

The walls inside the house should be erected together with the main ones, load-bearing walls... Wood is often used instead of brick. will take less time, and you will have to spend a lot of money. Wood as a material for construction is an expensive pleasure. The appearance of such houses is amazing and resembles houses in rustic style... Wooden houses are harder to build according to the project. When necessary, a brick can be broken, and a log house with a diameter of half a meter will have to be sawed.

The exterior of the rustic wooden house is simply gorgeous. Not everyone will understand this, so the projects of village houses are not very popular. Having left for the outback, it is easy to find a village house. They are usually many years old. Therefore, such houses with a plot of land are bought either for restoration or rebuilt. If the purchased plot is large enough, then you can put another house on it.

Project and layout of a classic old wooden house

And the procedure with bypassing and collecting the necessary papers will have to be repeated "inside and out." If the rebuilding of the house begins, then it will be easier with the paperwork. The first step is to check the fortress load-bearing structures, for this it is better to invite a specialist. He will check everything and tell you what needs to be done. Finding such a specialist is not difficult.

It is best to start with the reconstruction of the foundation - for many years it could collapse. Next, you need to check the walls.

Outside, the walls can be covered up, but all possible problems will be visible inside. After checking the walls, the roof must be checked. everything is simpler: its basis is a wooden frame. You can figure out whether it is whole or not, just by carefully examining it. Now it remains to decide on the financial part of the issue and calculate future costs.

Construction technology

You can build a house from:

 • panels;
 • aerated concrete blocks;
 • sawdust concrete blocks;
 • expanded clay concrete blocks.

The choice is really big. The price is also very different. Each material for building a house is very different in structure, quality and characteristics, but another difference is in the technology of building a house. Many people love wood, so the technology of building a wooden house will be considered.
There are two types of wood for building a house: a bar and a log. Here it is necessary to consider - a bar is cheaper than a log, but how much it will be needed is unknown.

The log looks much more massive and more exclusive. When the foundation is ready for further construction, insulation is laid under the first row, after which the row itself is laid out. Any excess insulation sticking out from under the wall can be removed. Then gradually.

At the joints in the logs, grooves are made, which are placed on the previous log. For greater stability, a small notch is made along all the logs. It turns out that the log seems to fit into the previous one, which gives greater stability to the walls. The logs are tied together at the joints. Each log must be treated with an antiseptic from decay, mold and the rest. There is a bioseptic and a fire retardant - all these means will help to avoid or get rid of everything that can spoil the tree.

After the end of the collection, when the process has reached the roof, the problem of crevices arises. They can appear, even if the logs are the most even and docked, like parts of the designer. To solve the problem, tow is sold in any hardware store. In the old days they used moss, but now there is not so much of it. With tow is often used sticky tape with heat-insulating harness. When tamping in the slots, the tapes must be twisted together and pushed into the slot with a spatula.

Then carefully grease this seam, and then remove the excess. Heat leakage problem will be solved.
Roof options are different. You need to choose the one you like best. Most often they use the simplest and most reliable option. Assembling it according to the drawing will not be a problem. But how to cover the roof of a wooden house - you need to compare prices, quality and capabilities.

Houses made of wood (timber and logs), despite all their advantages, need periodic repairs - this applies to even the most durable buildings erected in accordance with all the rules, More than half wooden houses the private sector has inherited the current owners from previous generations, and have a solid experience of use. But even if the age of the house has exceeded fifty years, it is still a living space, a valuable resource.

Sentimental feelings and the situation in the real estate market do not allow putting up such a structure (often having an unpresentable appearance) for sale. And with the proceeds from the sale of the old house it is hardly possible to build new housing without additional financial investments. Demolishing a dilapidated house and building a new one in its place is an option, for various reasons, not suitable for every family. The next logical step is the reconstruction of the house.

When reconstruction is needed

The need for reconstruction (complete or partial) is indicated by the following signs:

 • Foundation. The base cracks or begins to collapse (and water that regularly gets into the cracks will completely destroy it in a couple of years). If the foundation subsides, caulking (compaction) may fall out or the seams between the crowns begin to open, cracks form. The porch can change position, the front doors start rubbing the floor, the windows are difficult to open. All these signs indicate that the house has an angle of inclination, which can only be straightened by major repairs.
 • The condition of the wood. The appearance of a wooden wall does not always indicate the magnitude of the problem. It is important to assess the condition of not only the upper layers of the logs (timber), but also their inner part.
 • Roof. Almost always, in old houses, the roof is a source of problems - leaks and dampness in living quarters. Rafters and floor beams are rotted and damaged by fungus or insects.
 • Walls. Often the lower crowns rot, the rest of the wood becomes a breeding ground for mold and woodworm beetles.

Reconstruction: where to start

Any owner of an old wooden house wants to figure out which is more profitable - to renovate an existing building or build a new one. When deciding whether they need renovation of an old house, they are based on several factors:

 • Finance. Although it is more expensive to build a new home than a reconstructive operation, for overhaul it will also require a hefty amount.
 • Time. It is important to understand by what time it is necessary to complete all work (before the autumn rains)
 • The technical condition of the house. An important parameter that determines the previous points. It is necessary to involve a professional for the analysis.

A competent specialist will determine not only the deterioration of the building (which can be done by the owners); he will find out:

The rafter system has fallen into disrepair Source raflon.ru

A professional builder will help you estimate the amount of work; whether the reconstruction will be complete, partial or meaningless (when it is worth thinking about building new housing). In any case, the final decision is made taking into account his opinion.

Preparing for reconstruction: problem areas

When examining the house, it may be necessary to:

 • replace the foundation (partially or completely) or strengthen it (eliminate cracks, strengthen the basement part);
 • replace defective logs (beams) of the lower row (lower crown);
 • replace wall fragments;
 • restore the roof with the replacement of rafters and roofing;
 • partially repair or completely re-arrange the floor;
 • partially or completely replace communications (pipes, electrical wiring);
 • install a drainage system;
 • replace windows and doors.

As a rule, during reconstruction:

 • wooden elements of the house are impregnated with protective compounds (antiseptic and fire retardant);
 • walls (from the inside), floor, roof are insulated;
 • the outer surface of the walls is restored (polished, primed, impregnated with an antiseptic and covered with varnish or paint).
It is important! Very often, during reconstruction work, unforeseen problems arise. For example, when replacing a floor, rotten pipes are found, when replacing a roof, there is a lack of insulation. No one is able to foresee this until the final cladding is removed, so you need to be prepared for unforeseen expenses.

Reconstruction: stages

Many owners of old wooden houses have no idea how they can change their homes. , engaged in renovation and reconstruction, have accumulated extensive experience in working with the most dilapidated and neglected buildings. When the reconstruction of a village house is discussed, the project changes its shape more than once.

In any development of events, the restoration of the house goes through several stages:

On our website you can find contacts of construction companies that offer the service of reconstruction and rebuilding of houses. You can communicate directly with representatives by visiting the Low-Rise Country exhibition of houses.

Project and budget, procurement of materials and preparatory work

During the assessment of the condition of the house, specialists take the necessary measurements. After that, the project documentation is drawn up, in which it is presented:

 • condition and defects of structural elements;
 • work plan (calculations and estimates);
 • terms of work;
 • 3D model of the house (a visual way to see the change in the facade, internal redevelopment and the style of finishing work).

When reconstructing a house with an increase in area, the wishes of the owners are in priority Source otdelka-fazendi.ru

The owners' opinion is taken into account when preparing the technical assignment. Homeowners can decide:

 • increase the area of the house or carry out redevelopment;
 • build an extension (for a garage, veranda) or a terrace;
 • equip the attic;
 • equip a sanitary unit, conduct water or sewage;
 • add coziness and install a stove or fireplace;
 • to carry out decorative facing of the facade (siding, clapboard, imitation of a bar, block house);
 • additionally insulate the house;
 • to carry out landscaping of the yard.

The company prepares permits for the relevant organizations and provides home owners with a detailed budget, including:

 • selection of materials and calculation of their quantity and cost (determined by measurements);
 • transportation costs;
 • cost renovation works;
 • possibility of unforeseen expenses.

For a significant completion, the material is purchased with a reserve Source kor-san.ru

Materials are purchased in a volume 5-10% larger than the calculated one. During preparatory work dismantle building elements that require alteration or replacement (roof, walls and internal partitions).

Foundation

Reconstruction of an old wooden house starts from the foundation. The foundation is one of the most frequent problems of old buildings, since at one time it was made as economically as possible and with technological violations (under the weight of the structure, such a structure sinks deeply into the ground). Most often, under the wooden houses "with experience" a strip or columnar foundation is found, often located above the freezing level. To assess the scope of work, they examine the outer part of the foundation, and, if necessary, dig out the buried part. Sometimes the foundation is missing, and the plinth is laid on the ground

The strip foundation is reinforced or a new foundation is poured. To do this, you need to raise the box with jacks, taking apart the floor and cladding. For a columnar base, the best solution is to install additional piles that can redistribute the weight of the structure.

Crowns and walls

Half a century ago, when building houses, few people thought about observing building rules and equipped reliable waterproofing between the foundation and the walls. The lower crowns of wooden dwellings were unimpededly saturated with moisture, rotted and gradually fell into disrepair.

The replacement of the crowns is carried out simultaneously with the reconstruction of the foundation, when the box is hung. Logs or bars prepared for replacement are treated with an antiseptic; waterproofing is installed between the new crowns and the base. When restoring walls, the elements around the windows most often need replacement. Also, the upper rims often suffer from moisture penetrating through the roof and accumulating in the insulation.

Roof

Roof renovation works in two ways:

 • Roof reconstruction. Complete rework carried out if the owners want to increase the area of the house by planning an extension or an insulated attic.
 • Revision. The elements of the roofing system are examined, the destroyed ones (with traces of rot) are replaced. Most often, the chimney serves as the place of leakage.

The old slate is replaced with a suitable modern material (which is mainly determined by its weight), heat and waterproofing of the attic is carried out.

Outdoor decoration

Wooden house owners can go in two ways:

 • Restoration of the surface of the walls. To emphasize the natural beauty of wood, modern facing materials are not used. The walls are tidied up with a brush or grinder with a special attachment. The surface cleaned from dirt and perennial layers is impregnated with an antiseptic and fire retardant. The use of varnish or paint will reveal the structure of the wood, even out the shades of old and new fragments and additionally protect the surface.
 • Finishing work. Finishing wooden facade (often with insulation) serves as an additional protection for the walls, helps to keep warm and at the same time transforms the house beyond recognition. Among the popular finishing materials siding, plaster, block house, PVC panels stand out. Walls can be faced with bricks, clinker panels, porcelain tiles.

Floor, windows and doors, ceiling

The floor in a wooden house (especially if it is built directly on the ground) is a very vulnerable structure. Depending on the state, they carry out:

 • Repairs. If the boards and logs are in a satisfactory condition (less than 30% affected), the damaged parts of the flooring are changed, hydro- and thermal insulation is carried out.
 • Replacement. Old wood flooring disassemble (if the foundation was repaired, the floor has already been disassembled), change the lags. Then a waterproofing film is laid, a layer of thermal insulation (for example, basalt wool); the logs are covered with a vapor barrier film. A board spreads over the top. Sometimes a cement screed is made under the finished floor.

Broken down window and door systems are replaced with new ones; they can be wooden or metal-plastic. Ceiling repair is a necessity if the beams are deformed; new wooden floors are usually installed.

But if fresh milk with buns is a pipe dream, then rustic comfort is quite within the power to recreate not only in country house, but if desired, in a city apartment. It is only important to choose the direction in this style and follow it exactly.

Features of the interior of a village house inside

Village houses differ depending on where they are located and what culture they belong to. For example, the decoration of a village house in the Siberian outback will differ significantly from the hut of residents of southern Russia.

And a traditional Japanese house is incomparable with the provincial style of a French village.

The unifying moments of all houses of rural residents are the naturalness of materials, ease of decoration and homemade household items and decor. Most often, objects of decorative and applied creativity were used, since any thing, even the most exquisite, for example, a knitted tablecloth or embroidered towels had quite practical application.

In Russian village houses, which were located in a forest area, the house itself, pieces of furniture: beds, tables, benches and chests were made of strong durable wood.

In mountainous areas in the construction of the house and in the interior, solidity was emphasized with the help of stone.

Interior styles

 • Provence and country

Country style, the style of a simple country house, with functional hand-made things has gained popularity in many countries and has received many directions. American country music is based on practicality, functionality and comfort. Brickwork, solid furniture, albeit well-worn, copper crockery and a lot of homespun textiles, including those made using the patchwork technique. The main color is the color of the American prairies - terracotta.

Characteristic feature this style is the presence of ceramics - in the external and internal decoration, decoration of the house.

 • Interior in the spirit of France

The interior of the house in a classic French style can be summed up by the phrase “chic without pretensions”. All furnishings and decoration of the house are made exquisitely, filled with antiques, but with a touch of slight negligence, expressed in an abandoned shawl, a bouquet of wild flowers in an old vase or asymmetrically arranged furniture.

A house for shepherds, this is how the word “chalet” is translated, which gave the name to the interior style. A chalet-style house is a real fortress made of strong stones and solid logs, with a gentle slope gable roof and huge windows. The main decoration of such a house is the picturesque landscapes outside the windows. Such an interior does not differ in light content, because the main decoration is natural wood... Interior items are brutal in everything: in the structure, in color shades. Soft carpets, furs, leather add a bit of comfort to the interior.

English style

Distinctive features english style not only good quality, simplicity and restraint, but also luxury:

 • the decoration of wooden walls requires stucco molding;
 • classic furniture assumes convenience and comfort;
 • accessories are varied, with an abundance of exotic gizmos.

Textiles play an important role in the decoration of the house: heavy curtains and light draped curtains, colorful upholstery of furniture made of expensive fabrics and multi-colored pillows decorate the house and create a cozy atmosphere.

It is in this style that the paintings serve as wall decorations.

Japanese style

The time of globalization, when all borders are erased, brings to the fore a style that contains all the best that is in other styles - eclecticism. In order to create a work of art in a mixing style, it is necessary to choose some kind of neutral style for the canvas and apply bright accents and color spots. The use of no more than three bright colors and no more than three styles against a classical background is considered harmonious. In this style, there is a place for the most amazing things: an abstract painting or a stuffed animal, unusual furniture or a painted wall.

Therefore, the traditions of honoring the cuisine have been preserved to this day. This room should be bright, the ceilings and walls in which are whitewashed, pasted over with wallpaper with floral or floral designs. You can use modern material and decorate the room with wood paneling. • Children

 • The corridor

The corridor must match the style of the house. Wooden furniture, hangers made by carving craftsmen, wicker storage boxes, stools for convenience, metal accessories and original lighting everything should be directed towards solving practical problems.

How to decorate a village house with your own hands

You can start filling a village house by adding household items left over from grandparents: a poker, pots, clocks with walkers, wicker baskets or a spinning wheel.

Only a person trained in carpentry can make furniture. If there is no such skill, you can start recovery old furniture.

Textiles for the whole house can be sewn independently even on a mechanical sewing machine: curtains, tablecloths, oven mitts and even bed linen.

On long winter evenings, gathering in front of a living hearth, you can crochet napkins, embroider tablecloths using the cutwork technique, sew patchwork quilts or knit multi-colored rugs.

In the summer, harvest dried flowers and make bouquets of them filled with solar energy.

You can paint the furniture yourself using a stencil or decoupage technique.

Natalya and her husband Grigory bought a plot with an old hut in the village of Klinok, Chervensky district, in the summer of 2014. The village is located next to the fish farm "Volma", surrounded by picturesque nature: all around the lake, fields and forests.

This is what the old house looked like

The desire to buy a house in the village appeared long ago. Before that, the family shared the parental home with her husband's sister for a long time. And then luck smiled at them: they were selling a plot down the street. Having decided that such an opportunity should not be missed, Natalya and Grigory, having calculated their finances, purchased it.

The acquisition was not in the best condition: the rickety gates and fences, the yard overgrown with weeds, the dilapidated barn, - says Natalya.

The house had high thresholds, creaky and sagging floors, ten-layer wallpaper, behind which crowds of insects swarm, and a rooftop slate covered with moss. The house itself was divided into two large rooms with a stove in the center.

Dismantling an old barn

The first step was to demolish the barn and the extension that served as senets. We got out of the hut. They took out the excess. We were also engaged in cleaning on the site - in our free time. By this time I was already retired, so I stayed at the dacha for the whole summer, took care of the garden. For the weekend, my husband, Grigory, son Alexei and daughter Olga came with his family. Everyone contributed to the home improvement.

They decided to completely demolish the shed, instead of it they built a grub, in which we put firewood, boards and various things that may be useful in the household.

In 2015, the "restoration" was continued. The site was surrounded by a metal profile fence. To the house from the side of the garden, where the senets were located, an extension was made of blocks, 6x6 meters. Now there is a kitchen, pantry and hallway. Inside the extension was lined with clapboard. The old slate was replaced with a new one.

A summer shower was built behind the crumbs: a small booth covered with oilcloth, on top - a large barrel (now it has been altered, instead of oilcloth, the booth was surrounded by cellular polycarbonate). During the day, the water heats up, in the evening you can rinse. A small building with two compartments was built nearby: in one there is a toilet, in the second there is a shed, in which everything necessary for the garden is stored.

Over time, they brought in water and made a sewer, made a veranda 6 × 2 meters. There is now a toilet, just like in the city.

Inside the old part of the house, the floor was repaired, the walls were sheathed with clapboard, new windows were installed, and the stove was remade.

Outside, the house was insulated and sheathed with siding.

There is always order in the garden and the beds constantly delight the family with a good harvest.

For the family, the dacha has become a pleasant place where you can have a great time and rest from the bustle of the city.

With a lot of undeniable advantages, wooden houses are an expensive pleasure, so not everyone can build or buy such a "nest" for themselves. However, a house with "experience" can be inherited or purchased much cheaper, although its condition will be far from satisfactory. Reconstruction of a wooden house will make it suitable for comfortable stay and will return to its former appearance. And how to continue and how to finish, FORUMHOUSE users who have experience with wood and are engaged in the reconstruction of their own households will tell you.

Problem areas of wooden houses

The age of the bulk of the wooden houses of the secondary housing stock is approaching half a century or has already passed this figure, which inevitably leads to decrepitude of the main units. If during the construction mistakes were made or the technology was violated, then certain parts of the building become completely unusable. The mode of operation is of great importance - they lived in the house permanently, or it winter period it was heated from time to time and served with the same frequency. Based on these conditions, the following work may be required:

 • full or partial replacement foundation or its strengthening;
 • replacement of the lower rims;
 • complete or partial replacement of individual elements or large wall segments;
 • repair or replacement of the roofing system;
 • outdoor decoration.

Even if during the initial examination it seems that it is easier to demolish than to try to restore, do not despair, it is not for nothing that the leitmotif of portal users is the proverb “Eyes are afraid, but they do”.

The lion's share of the houses is visually in a terrible state, and in fact the logs are still strong, and the wood under the layers is beautiful, and the reconstruction will take less time and money than a new construction.

Reconstruction of an old wooden house: foundation

For aged wooden houses, a strip or columnar foundation is characteristic. It is very rare if the tape is poured to the depth of freezing, mainly this is a shallow deepening, which over time, under the weight of the structure, decently sank into the ground. The front of the work depends on the condition of the foundation. To assess it, a thorough inspection of the aboveground part, if any, is carried out, and the buried elements are dug out and examined. The user of the portal and concurrently the head of the team engaged in the repair and replacement of the foundations of wooden structures, Igor Bekkerev, classified the possible scope of work in this way.

Igor Bekkerev FORUMHOUSE participant, foreman

The main task of the foundation this is to transfer the load from the house to the ground. There are various defects of foundations, there are also different ways repair. This can be one type of work or more often you have to use a complex.

 • Insulation of the foundation and blind area;
 • Foundation waterproofing;
 • Drainage works (water disposal);
 • Strengthening the foundation with an armored belt from above;
 • Strengthening the foundation with an external armored belt;
 • Replacement of the foundation with hanging the building or moving the building;
 • Leveling the foundation or leveling the structure on the foundation.

To gain access to the foundation, the box is raised to the required height - hung out, less often it is moved. For lifting are used hydraulic jacks, the walls are lifted one by one, or the whole box at once. Due to the ability of wood to withstand certain deformations when properly executed, this operation does not violate the integrity of the house. Based on the state of the foundation and the proposed work, jacks are installed directly on the base (strip foundation) or on the ground, on a previously placed thick board or other support. The number of jacks on the wall depends on the dimensions of the box; cuts are made under the jack in predetermined places.

Usually a team of several people is hired for such work, but one skilled craftsman is also able to raise a wooden house in a short time. With such a professional, a forum member was lucky Arty-CooLwho is engaged in reconstruction log house... in a normal state, but it was decided to strengthen it, build up and fill in a new circuit at once for an extension.

Today we finished lifting the house and replacing the lower crown, the foreman worked alone, after work I tried to help, although, probably, I was more distracting from work. When replacing the crown, the overlap logs were simultaneously cut into the new crown. I did it in 3 days, this is how the masters work!

User's family Greens in a similar situation, the involvement of masters was avoided - the husband and sons were used as labor force. The foundation was shallow, rubble, after hanging the box it was partially dismantled, a new wide tape was poured in, and then the basement part was laid out of brick.

The foundation there is rubble, quite shallow, 40-50 cm, at the outer corner the house apparently began to sag, a rubble was taken out from under the corner and replaced with facing brick. When we got it out, it crumbled into small shards. The bottom two crowns are just rubbish, we raked out part of the rubble, put the formwork, filled in and laid the brickwork.

To strengthen the foundation with an external armored belt, a monolithic reinforced concrete tape is poured around the perimeter. The depth of the tape exceeds the depth of the old foundation by the size of the sand and gravel cushion, the average width is 40-50 cm. The surface of the old foundation is carefully cleaned, all peeling elements are removed. To increase adhesion with the new mortar, the foundation is impregnated with a primer with high penetrating ability. As a binder, reinforcing pins are used, hammered into the old foundation at a distance of 20–25 cm, in several rows. With the new frame, the pins are welded or tied, the solution is poured into the formwork in layers.

The replacement of the foundation is carried out in stages or immediately, in the first case, the old foundation is dismantled in parts, with the gradual pouring of new fragments. In the second case, everything is dismantled at once, a monolithic tape is poured, pillars are cast or piles are twisted. Forum user under the nickname Andryukha052 offered a phased replacement, but he preferred a simultaneous one, fearing possible problems with the foundation in the future.

They suggested removing the logs between the posts, digging trenches between the posts and pouring the foundation there, laying the masonry up between the posts, putting the house on the masonry. Then remove the pillars, dig trenches under the pillars and pour - connect the masonry. I didn't really like this idea, the foundation will come from several sections. If there are any movements in the ground, everything may crack. Even if nothing happens, but I thought it was better to play it safe. Therefore, the house was hung on U-shaped supports, everything was removed at once, a single tape was poured and a single masonry was made.

Reconstruction of an old house: the crowns

The lower rims of wooden houses rot, gradually becoming saturated with moisture through the foundation. This happens both due to the lack of a waterproofing layer and due to technology violations. Several members of the forum encountered a strange way of protecting a log from water, including val-lel.

val-lel FORUMHOUSE Member

My log house50s of construction, on the foundation strip there was just a waterproofing between the log and the base, but! Along the first crown, the edges of this waterproofing were raised and attached to the log itself, and the segment between the foundation and the crown, with the edges of the waterproofing neatly nailed to it, was« carefully spanked» cement mortar along the entire first crown, both outside and inside, apparently so that the log does not move anywhere.

The replacement of the crowns is usually carried out together with the foundation work, when hanging the box. Whenever possible, materials are used that are as close to the original as possible - a log or a bar, some replace rotten parts brickwork. Arty-CooLused the sleepers.

Arty-CooL

I put the sleepers, since I got it for nothing, and it is easier to work with them (although I did not do it), they will not go anywhere under the weight of the house, but I will mount galvanized studs into the foundation, and I will plant the house on them. The cost of concrete in terms of the volume of sleepers will definitely be more expensive.

When choosing a material for replacing the crowns, they mainly start from the intended finishing layer - under the siding and the brick can be hidden. If you plan to leave the walls in the original version, the new segments should be as close as possible to the existing ones.

Waterproofing must be laid between the foundation and the new crowns, the wood is pre-treated with an antiseptic.

Reconstruction of the walls of a wooden house

In addition to the crowns, other parts of the structure may need to be replaced when the wood is exposed to moisture. Most often this happens with the upper crowns if the roof leaks and water accumulates in the insulation. It is also common for walls around windows to get wet, although the outside of the tree may appear whole.

One point that would not hurt to pay attention to - the logs under the windows. If windows in winter« cried» , the logs could rot. Moreover, I saw such that the log rotted from the inside, and from the outside - completely good wood, rot was diagnosed only by drilling.

serwid FORUMHOUSE Member

I had this when I changed the windows in my house for plastic ones. After dismantling the old ones, I had to make inserts, since the log under the window had rotted away, but it was not visible from the outside.

It is possible to reveal rot in externally normal wood by tapping with the butt of an ax or a hammer - rotting filling gives a dull sound, a whole log - ringing. As an alternative to drilling, an awl is used - it will not enter a normal tree by more than a few millimeters, and it will plunge into a rotten tree without resistance.

Replacing one element of the box or part of the wall is carried out piece by piece - the damaged ones are cut out, new ones are inserted, all cracks are necessarily sealed, the wood is pre-processed, as well as the insertion points. To save time and money, one of the users did the following.

Alexey Tsvetkov FORUMHOUSE Participant

I cut all the rot from the inside with a chainsaw before« alive» wood, impregnated with an antiseptic 2 times and drove inside an antiseptic bar, cut to size« hollow» and clasped with flax, then fixed with self-tapping screws 150 mm on both sides.

Roof reconstruction

Reconstruction of a wooden house for many is an opportunity to increase its area not only by adding an extension, but also by transforming an old cold attic - with a diameter of 150 to 200 mm, with an edged board 50x200 mm.

If there is no need in the attic, you can get by with an audit of the roofing system and replacing elements that have rotted due to leakage or accumulation of condensate. Pay special attention to the withdrawal area chimney... In most cases, it is there that leakage and damage to the floors occurs.

Considering that old slate does not add charm to the structure, it is usually changed to and usually requires insulation of floors and under-roof space. When additional rooms are attached to the house on a rigid bundle, the old roof is completely redone in order to bring the entire structure under the new one.

Arty-CooL

I plan to add a part of the house to its entire length, 2.5-3 meters wide, thereby making the house square, and there will be a single attic roof with living quarters.

Outdoor decoration

To preserve the natural beauty of a wooden house, refuse to use siding and other facing materials... The walls that have darkened over the years, with various deposits on the surface, are put in order - they are cleaned with a brush and impregnated with special bleaching antiseptic compounds.

It is most convenient to carry out the processing using a grinder and a special nozzle - a brush with iron bristles. All dirt and layering cannot be removed from the wood in this way, but significantly improved appearance and the structure is real. In the future, you can use varnish on wood or paint: tint agents will level the surface, and new elements will no longer attract attention. Like cladding, paints and varnishes are not only decorative, they effectively protect the surface from external influences.
