It is good to live in a private house. On your own land, you can build at least a huge garage, at least a bathhouse, at least a whole water park. And what about the owners simple apartments? Of course, it is impossible to build a water park and a garage in such conditions, but a bathhouse is easy. Moreover, all the necessary stages of work are easily performed by hand.

Any construction works start with planning and procurement of materials. The finished bath should have as little weight as possible, so for finishing only sheet lining is suitable for construction.

In addition to lining, you will need to buy a beam for the frame, galvanized self-tapping screws for assembling all the elements into a single system, mineral wool insulation, foil, wires, a switch, lighting fixture and, of course, a heating device.

Determine the required amount of materials yourself, taking into account the size of the future bath. When determining the optimal size, keep in mind that one person needs at least 1 m2 of free space for a comfortable pastime in the steam room.

After purchasing everything you need, proceed to the arrangement of the floor.

Arrangement of the bath floor

The best place for arranging a bath is the junction of three walls. If it is not possible to build a steam room right there, pick up a place near the carrier, but not the outer wall.

Proceed to the device floor. This stage is performed before the construction of the frame. You can make a plank or tiled floor.

First step. Get rid of the existing finish, if any, and carefully level the base.

Second step. Install support rails. Boards will be attached to them. The bath in the apartment will have a small area, so there are no special requirements for the crate step. You can install rails at a distance, for example, 60-80 cm.

Third step. Attach boards 4-5 cm thick to the crate. Use self-tapping screws for fastening.

It is forbidden to cover wood with any paints and varnishes.

Tiled floor

First step. Remove existing flooring and level the surface with a screed or, if there are no significant height differences, with a self-levelling mixture. Pre-install a low formwork according to the size of the future floor. Let the fill dry and remove the formwork.

Second step. Lay the elements of the electric underfloor heating and pour the screed over them. The laying scheme, as well as the optimal thickness of the screed layer, is given in the manufacturer's instructions.

Third step. Lay your preferred tile on the dried screed. There are no specific requirements for tiles. To fix the tiles, it is best to use an adhesive specially designed for this.

Start assembling the frame. It will consist of vertical posts and horizontal bars. Tying with horizontal crossbars is performed in 5 levels:

First step. Install vertical supports. Place them in the corners of the future pair room. The height of each rack is up to 190-210 cm. For the manufacture of racks, use durable wooden boards or bars.

It is important that in the places of future placement of shops, the bars or boards should be thicker than in other places of the structure.

Use dowels to secure the racks to the floor. Racks are attached to the walls with several nails without hats. Check the verticality of the rack mounting using a level or plumb line. The walls in the apartments are often uneven, so you will most likely have to spend extra time adjusting the frame elements.

Second step. Fasten the elements of the horizontal strapping in accordance with the recommendations given earlier. You can use screws for fastening.

Third step. Attach mineral wool insulation to the frame. Carefully lay the mineral wool in the cells of the frame. If possible, fix the insulation with nails or screws. Cover the insulation with foil. Use tape or pushpins to secure the foil.

The aluminum foil will create the effect of a thermos in the sauna, helping to preserve maximum heat indoors.

In the process of erecting the frame, do not forget to leave an opening for installing the door. At the same time, set door frame- it is enough to fix it between adjacent racks with screws. It is better to remove the door leaf before the completion of the finishing work.

Ceiling frame device

The installation of the ceiling of an apartment bath is carried out in one simple step: you simply tie the upper ends of the vertical support posts wooden planks. On this frame is ready. Instead of boards, you can use a sheet of drywall. Further, a lining will be attached to this base.

If you wish, you can completely leave the “native” ceiling, but it is unlikely to fit into the interior of the finished bath.

Before the start of the finish line decorative finishes solve the issue of laying electrical wiring in your apartment sauna. In a good way at this stage, you need to enlist the support of a professional electrician.

In general, you need to run wires to install an outlet, a switch, and a couple of low-power fixtures.

Lay the wires along the outside of the support frame. The electrical cable must run along a special protective sleeve. The latter is fixed on the frame elements.

Lamps are connected strictly in parallel. The phase for the lighting equipment will be given by the heater, and you need to stretch the power and lighting wires directly to the heater through the metal hose.

Finishing work

Lining is traditionally used for lining apartment saunas.

First step. Sheathe the ceiling. Start attaching the sheets to the previously prepared base from the side front door. For fastening, use hidden nails. You can make them yourself by first biting off simple nails with the appropriate tool.

Nails must be hammered in at a slight angle. Fix the lining to each frame board.

Second step. Prepare the lining for wall decoration by preparing holes in the appropriate places for the output of electrical wires. The diameter of such holes should correspond to the diameter of the metal hoses. Pass the metal hose through the holes and proceed to fix the lining.

Third step. Sheathe the frame of the walls with clapboard. Fastening is carried out in the same way as in the case of finishing the ceiling.

Do not bring the bottom boards to the floor by about 2 cm - this will create the necessary ventilation hole.

Installation of benches and doors

The height of the ceiling in the apartment bath, as already noted, will not exceed 190-210 cm. If the ceiling is higher, a “pipe effect” will be created in the steam room: draft will increase, drafts will appear, heating efficiency will decrease.

In such conditions, it is possible to comfortably accommodate only 2 benches. Place the top one at a distance of about 1 m from the ceiling of the steam room. Make the lower bench at a height of 60-70 cm from the floor. Additionally, install a step under the lower bench at a height of 20-25 cm from the floor for greater convenience.

First step. Prepare the material for the bench frame. For this, a bar with a section of 4x8 or 5x10 cm is optimally suited.

Second step. Start assembling the frame. First, attach the main horizontal bar to the wall opposite the entrance to the bath. Use screws for fastening.

Third step. Attach the side bars to the walls and connect them with the front horizontal bar.

Fourth step. For greater structural stability, install several vertical support posts along the length of the bench.

Fifth step. Assemble the frame for the second bench in the same way. Fasten the frames together with screws.

Sixth step. Finish the lining of the benches with clapboard. Fasten the sheets with countersunk nails to each crossbar and frame rack.

Finally, you will need to install door leaf. The best option for a bath in an apartment - a glass door, you can tinted.

Buy a door that opens outward. There should not be any "serious" locks in the door design for your own safety. Permissible maximum - weak magnetic or roller latches.

The choice of heating equipment

Traditionally, for heating apartment baths, the so-called. electric heaters. Select the appropriate equipment power. For example, to heat a bath with a volume of about 9 cm, an electric heater with a power of about 12-14 kW will suffice. Take a break from this.

It is also important to determine the optimal weight of the stones. To warm up 1 m3 of space, 5-5.5 kg of stones will be needed.

Also, special infrared emitters are well suited for an apartment bath. They warm up the steam room as quickly as possible and have a beneficial effect on human health.

Even those who refuse to visit a traditional steam room due to high pressure can take a steam bath with an infrared heater. Moreover, IR units are more economical than the mentioned electric heaters and do not require the use of stones.

The heater is best installed after all finishing work has been completed. Fasteners and installation instructions are supplied from the factory. Install according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

The optimal place to place the equipment is opposite the benches at a height of about 200 mm from the floor surface.

On this, the arrangement of your own bath in the apartment can be considered complete. Follow the instructions, and very soon you will be able to enjoy bath procedures right at home.

Successful work!

Video - Finishing the bath inside with your own hands

With free space on the land, you can build a strong and very functional bath. Moreover, the last factor is due to the competent design of the premises, their decoration and furniture. Regardless of the size of the building, such premises as a steam room and an entrance hall with a wardrobe should be equipped inside.

But such an economy option can hardly be called comfortable enough, therefore, among the rooms recommended for design, decoration and equipment with all the necessary rooms, the following can be distinguished:

  • shower, washroom or washing room. Basic hygiene procedures in the form of taking a shower will be performed here. The room can be equipped with a small font and a bucket-waterfall for dousing;

  • separate bathroom. There is no need to talk about the purpose of this room. It is especially important to allocate a room for a toilet in two-story bathhouses with a kitchen and a sleeping place;

  • seating area with dining area. This room is intended for relaxation after the soaring procedure, drinking tea. The zone can be supplemented with a fireplace, a seating area and other furniture and decorations;
  • kitchen area. Actual for baths of a large area, in which large companies often relax. The kitchen area can be small and consist of an electric stove, kettle and microwave oven. Sometimes the kitchen is supplemented with a phytobar, equipping a rack with high chairs and a cabinet for storing packages with elite varieties of tea and medicinal herbs;

  • pantry. small room with shelves and cabinets worth highlighting for storing bath sheets, towels, hats, shoes, etc. This is where you should store household chemicals for cleaning, so as not to litter the shower room with it;
  • sleeping area. For example, a second floor can be allocated for a separate bedroom. Here it will be nice to accommodate the guests who have arrived, if there is not enough space in the house;
  • boiler room for boiler equipment;

  • billiard room;
  • solarium;
  • pool;

  • laundry. It is recommended to design next to the shower room for ease of installation of plumbing and sewerage. The laundry room can be installed washing machine, drying cabinet or conventional floor / wall dryer, ironing board for bath linen;
  • veranda or terrace;

  • a small vestibule (relevant for baths that are used all year round).

Depending on the available budget, it is possible to equip only some of the proposed premises, for example, a bathroom, a shower and a relaxation area. If the plans are to build a truly chic health complex, and it’s not difficult to pay a “tidy sum” for comfort, you should think about including all the above-mentioned premises in the estimate.

Steam room arrangement. 1 - foil. 2-insulation. 3-membrane. 4-plinth ceiling made of wood. 5-plinth floor wooden. 6-vent valve. 7-ceiling out wooden lining. 8-light. 9-wood floor. 10 shelves 11-thermometer and hygrometer. 12-back shelf. 13-chimney. 14-tank for water. 15-heater. 16-bath oven. 17-protective screen. 18-non-combustible base under the stove. 19-door to the steam room. 20-bath accessories. 21-light therapy or diode illumination.

It is customary to equip the steam room on the first floor of the building. The entrance to the steam room can be from the shower room or dressing room. The door to the steam room is installed from tempered glass or wooden strictly without metal decorations, inserts and fittings (with the exception of hinges), because. metal can heat up and burn the visitor. For one soaring, it is customary to take 1-2 meters square area premises. Another meter will take the oven. Accordingly, the comfortable dimensions of the steam room are 3-5 sq.m. Too big a steam room with high ceilings is not worth doing - it will take a lot of time and fuel to warm up the room, and the air will dry out from a red-hot stove.

Video - The optimal dimensions of the bath and steam room

The height of the ceilings is arranged from 2.2 to 2.6 m, depending on the height of the owners of the bath and the height of the shelves, which in turn can be 1-3 tiered. The shelves themselves are made so that it is comfortable to sit on them, lie down, and a steam bather with a broom can stand next to him and perform bath procedures. The top shelf is made the widest, and the recommended height of each tier is 35 cm. It is better to sew up the space under the shelves in order to reduce fuel consumption for heating the unused area of \u200b\u200bthe room.

Shelves should preferably be made from hardwood wood, the use of cedar / larch is acceptable. Wood can be combined, but it must be of good quality - dry, without knots, resin pockets, traces of rot and mold, carefully sanded. For convenience, you should purchase or make do-it-yourself headrests from aspen or linden, as well as a tub and a bucket with a long handle. Be sure to hang in a steam bath thermometer with a hygrometer to regulate the degree of heating and humidity.

The lighting in the bath is rarely made bright. Basically, ceiling and wall lamps are covered with wooden shades / lampshades so that soft twilight reigns in the steam room. Additionally, a diode tape can be used for color therapy, as well as an optical fiber to create the effect of a starry sky.

The stove is usually located closer to the door. Moreover, the heater can be made of brick or made of steel (wood, electric).

Sauna stove-heater at the entrance to the steam room

The sauna heater is installed on ceramic tiles

When installing the stove, it is extremely important to properly insulate the wall, floor, and ceiling at the point of contact with the outgoing chimney. The stove is placed at a distance of at least 10-15 cm from the wall, if the firebox door opens into the steam room, if located sauna stove simultaneously in two adjacent rooms and the output of the furnace door to the dressing room, in interior partition a recess is cut through, in its dimensions exceeding the dimensions of the furnace by 10-15 cm on each side of the heating surfaces. Insulation is made by means of asbestos cardboard, brick, ceramic tiles, stainless steel sheets.

Separately, it is worth considering the options for finishing the walls, ceiling and floor. In addition to the standard lining and wooden floor, there are some interesting ideas.

MaterialAdvantagesPeculiaritiesMounting method
Salt crystals or halotherapy blocks in your own bath/sauna

They have a pronounced therapeutic effect on the body as a whole, the respiratory system and the skin in particular.Salt crystals are installed in saunas with dry steam. The maximum evaporation of microelements occurs at 60 degrees, but already at 75 degrees the blocks turn into a salt solution. Salt bricks must not be allowed to come into contact with water, as salt dissolves in it.Salt crystals are used to make spectacular rectangular inserts in the walls, it is also possible to finish one or more walls from floor to ceiling.
Facing with salt blocks is combined with diode or other lighting; a two-component quick-setting adhesive is used to fix the masonry (hardening time from 10 minutes).
Wild stone or decorative brick

The uniqueness of the interior, an unusual combination of stone with wooden surfaces. Improved fire safety. When using medicinal rocks of stone, for example, soapstone or jadeite, in addition - a healing effect.
Stone can be lined with both part of the wall behind the stove, and the entire wall behind the heating device. Sometimes stones are fixed instead of skirting boards on the floor and ceiling. It is worth remembering that the stones in the bath are very hot, so they should not be allowed even accidental contact with the skin of visitors to the steam room.If faced with stone wooden wall, you will need to fix construction waterproofing paper on it (overlaps on all sides 4-8 cm). On top of the waterproofing layer with galvanized staples or nails, a paint grid should be fixed (vertical fastening pitch up to 15 cm, horizontally up to 40 cm, at the corners the grid is laid in two layers). The mesh is plastered, and after drying 1-1.5 layers of plaster, facing stones are laid out on a cement-sand mortar. It is recommended that you first lay out the stones on the floor and number them for convenience. It is better not to use stones that are too heavy for cladding.
Ceramic tiles, porcelain tiles, polished natural stone tiles

Fire safety, aesthetics, interior decoration of the steam room, durability.All of these tiles are laid on the wall behind the stove (all or only part of the wall). Tiles with a thickness of more than 10 mm are installed using metal fasteners and pouring cement-sand mortar / glue / mastic into the seams.The tiles are fixed on the plastered surface of the walls. For fixing tiles, highly specialized adhesives are used, for marble - on a latex or polyurethane basis (anhydrous).
Laying is carried out from the bottom up, the seams are laid with crosses or wedges to maintain the same thickness.
Cork moisture resistant coating

Suitable for both additional insulation of walls, and for their finishing.Plates are used with a thickness of 20-40 mm.Installation of plates on the wall is carried out using specialized glue for cork coatings. It is permissible to use cork plinth for arranging a steam room.

Table. Materials for arranging flooring in the steam room

MaterialAdvantagesPeculiarities

Beautiful, durable, looks noble.Quite cold, it is desirable to install underfloor heating systems under the porcelain stoneware coating. Must be non-slip. Seams are treated with moisture-resistant grout to prevent the spread of mold and fungus.

Cushioning, warm to the touch, perfectly combined with wooden surfaces. Not slippery.Suitable for styling in a steam room, because. floor temperature rarely exceeds 30-40 degrees.
Wooden boards and wooden mats

Such coatings can be laid on concrete or porcelain stoneware.Requires treatment with moisture-proof impregnations and periodic air drying.

Note! It is unacceptable to use any plastic, rubber coatings, linoleum, PVC tiles and panels for arranging a steam room. Decoration Materials and furniture when heated should not emit a chemical smell, resin.

The ceiling in the Russian bath has long been made of timber, lining, boards. Exactly wooden surfaces they tolerate the effects of high temperatures well, fill the bath with a pleasant aroma and do not contribute to the accumulation of condensate - wood tends to “breathe”.

There is no point in painting the ceiling, upholstering with plywood, chipboard, plastering - high humidity and temperature will quickly ruin such a finish. In Turkish baths, mosaics are often used to decorate the ceiling, but it is worth remembering that the humidity and temperature in hammams are much lower than in Finnish and Russian steam rooms. It is possible to use a cork coating Thermocork 100 mm thick, specially designed for the ceilings of baths (cost 3900-4000 rubles per 1 sq.m).

It is desirable to equip the steam room with one window. A particularly eccentric option is a full-wall panoramic blind window. Such a window allows you to admire nature from your own steam room, while the mirror coating on the outside will not allow the curious to look inside. But remember that the larger the window, the greater the heat loss.

The most common option is an opening single-leaf window 60x60 cm or 40x60 cm. The window is not placed on the wall behind the stove or sun loungers. The height from the floor to the lower sash cannot be less than 170 cm - it is this height that implies effective ventilation of the room (natural air circulation). The frame can be made of wood or high-quality plastic that can withstand temperatures up to 120 degrees.

Sometimes instead of a window they insert glass blocks. They allow you to save on the lighting of the steam room during the day.

Prices for different types of lining

Arrangement of a shower or washroom

The shower room can be organized as separate room or adjacent to the steam room, for example, separated only by a glass shutter or glass block partition. A cabin can be installed here or a shower tray with a ladder for draining water can be organized. If a large number of visitors are planned, it is recommended to install two or three showers.

Directly in the shower room, in addition to the shower itself, there should be a bench, a mirror, as well as hooks and non-traumatic shelves for toiletries.

Often, a washroom is equipped with a pouring bucket and a bathtub made of acrylic or cast iron. Also, fonts are installed in the washing room, especially if there is not enough space to equip a full-fledged pool.

The temperature in the shower should be higher than in the dressing room, but significantly lower than in the steam room.

Hot water supply is organized by connecting to the central water supply, installing a boiler or installing a heat exchanger and an external water tank (from 80 to 120 liters).

Discharge of water is organized into the central sewer, septic tank or drainage well. A drain drain is installed in the shower room (the floor is poured or laid with a slope towards the drain funnel), from which waste liquid is discharged through a pipe with a diameter of 110 mm. One person needs about 50 liters of water to take a shower, respectively, using this figure, you can calculate the volume of a septic tank or storage cesspool for a bath. By the way, treatment and storage plants should not be located near the walls of the bath or underground - bad smell enters the room. It is recommended to mount a local installation 5-10 m from the walls of the bath.

Coating options for wall, floor and ceiling cladding are shown in the following table.

Table. Arrangement of a shower in the bath

MaterialPeculiaritiesFinishing example, photo
WoodWood is often trimmed with showers adjacent to the steam room, so as not to violate the overall style of the premises. Wood does not tolerate constant moisture - fungus develops, rot appears. Consideration should be given to installing shower tray or cabins to minimize the effect of moisture on the material of the walls and floor, as well as regularly dry the boards, treat with antiseptics.
Wood
Ceramic tile, porcelain tile, mosaic
These materials are most appropriate in the shower, but it is important to choose products with a non-slip surface, and grout the seams with compounds that prevent mold. It is recommended to lay wooden or rubber mats on the tiled floor.
PVC panelsThis material can be used for walls and ceilings only in showers that are not adjacent to the steam room. Plastic does not tolerate exposure to high temperatures, but high humidity is not terrible for him. The panels are quite easy to install, wash, but the strength of the material leaves much to be desired.
Natural stoneNot everyone likes this solution due to the extraordinary interior and the coldness of the coating. However, the stone tolerates high humidity well and is quite suitable for shower wall cladding.

Video - An example of a shower ceramic tile finish

Do not forget about the ventilation in the shower. An extractor hood with an electric fan should be located under the ceiling. For natural ventilation, it is worth placing a small opening window closer to the ceiling, this is especially true for wooden baths and showers with timber trim, clapboard.

Advice! In order for less heat to escape from the shower, it is recommended to equip the threshold at the entrance to the room, as well as install a door of low height (the smallest is selected from the standard 2.37 m, 2.07 m, 2 m and 1.87 m, and this value should be reduced further by 10 cm). The justified width of the doorway is 75-80 cm.

bathroom

The bathroom can be a separate room or be combined with a shower room. In the first case, in addition to a toilet bowl or dry closet, it is recommended to install a washbasin with a mirror, a cabinet, a shelf, and a paper holder in the room. Finishing a separate bathroom can be absolutely anything, starting with classic tiling and plastic panels and ending with cork, linoleum, a combination of various materials.

Toilet ventilation is very important. According to the rules, up to 50 cubic meters of fresh air should enter the toilet room with 1 toilet every hour.

Often a heating radiator is installed in the toilet so that it is comfortable during the cold season. It is also worth placing a boiler here so as not to spoil the interior of the washing room.

In the case when it is planned to install a toilet bowl in the shower room, it is worth equipping two forced hoods. One will not allow moisture to accumulate under the ceiling, the second will ventilate the space above the toilet.

The decoration of the shower room with the toilet is made in the same style; for convenience, the toilet bowl is installed in the far corner of the washing room and is fenced off with a partition, curtain, screen. It is unacceptable to use materials like linoleum in the shower room with the restroom. Apply standard options finishing with tiles, lining, mosaics, stone, plastic, etc.

Water can only be drained from the toilet to a local sewage treatment plant or a central sewer. If floors of a leaking type are arranged in the bath, a sewer network must be provided separately for the toilet (or an independent mobile dry closet, for example, of a composting or liquid type, is installed).

Of course, each private developer designs a bath based on their own capabilities and preferences, but you should familiarize yourself with federal regulations prescribing the rules for arranging baths in general and latrines in particular:

  • SanPiN 983-72, 2.1.2.2645-10 and 42-128-4690-88;
  • SNiP 30-02-97;
  • SNiP 31-05-2003;
  • and for organizing a shower and toilet for the disabled, it is worth paying attention to the second edition of the manual on integrated environmental design for people with disabilities. handicapped(dated 1997, prepared by the Moscow Committee for Architecture).

Dressing room and wardrobe

The dressing room is the last room, which must be located on the first floor. This room can be large and spacious or very tiny. In any case, from the dressing room there must be an entrance to the shower room. The finishing of dressing rooms is most often made of wood to emphasize the style of the bath. It is desirable to arrange furniture wooden.

The recommended air temperature in the dressing room is 26-28 degrees. Ventilation can be natural, for which opening windows are installed, which in turn are also a source of additional light in the daytime. artificial lighting it is worth making it sufficiently saturated (chandelier and wall sconces), but not sharp.

The dressing room can be combined with a dressing room if the entire bath small size. In this case, you should be guided by the following recommendations:

  • ceiling height should exceed the height of a person, taking into account the raised hands. Optimal - 2.4-2.6 m;
  • the number of seats, hooks and shelves for clothes should correspond to the expected number of visitors to the bath;
  • the floor in the dressing room and dressing room should be warm and non-slip so that it is comfortable to walk barefoot. For example, you can install a "warm floor" or lay a carpet;
  • one or more electrical outlets should be provided;
  • dressing room is recommended to be equipped with a mirror.

By the way, the dressing room can be combined with kitchen area by setting the angular kitchen set With household appliances. If in the kitchen it is planned not only to brew tea, but also to fully cook food, it is necessary to install a separate hood, and also plan to lay water and sewer pipes to connect the sink.

Advice! You should not install kitchen cabinets under the stairs so that the dust from the steps does not fall on the dishes.

Proper arrangement of the bath will make the rest comfortable and extend the life of the building. High-quality finishes and careful selection of the interior will protect wooden materials from dampness and insects, rotting and mold, and a person from burns and allergies.

The choice of material for finishing

Finishing masters advise using linden. This is an affordable raw material that does not heat up at a temperature of 80-120 degrees above zero, so it does not burn the skin. Wood absorbs moisture well and does not dampen.

Pleasant honey aroma of linden and healing properties create a cozy atmosphere in the room and have a healing effect on the person. A delicate light shade of wood will harmoniously fit into the interior.

Never use pine. When heated, it releases resins, which will make it impossible to stay in the steam room. Do not use for interior decoration steam rooms and washing wood boards or linoleum. Materials emit toxic substances that are harmful to health.

Fiberboard and chipboard are also toxic when heated. In addition, they are flammable and swell strongly when absorbing moisture. Such materials are not applicable for finishing a washing or steam room, however, they are suitable for arranging a rest room, terrace or summer kitchen at the bath.

Eurolining - best material for lining the bath. The thin, smooth panel improves air circulation and levels the walls. Environmentally friendly wood does not emit harmful substances and improves human well-being.

Choose lining linden profile "Softline". The smooth and soft lines of the slats will make the room neat and refined. A simple tenon-groove fastening principle will speed up installation. You can easily install the lining yourself.

Insulation and cladding of walls and ceilings in the bath

After you have bought the materials, let the lining settle in the bath for 1-2 days. Then get to work.

Preparatory stage

Putty the bumps and dents on the walls and ceiling. By the way, lining has an excellent quality of leveling the walls.

Creating a crate

If you lay the lining without a frame, then the walls may turn out to be uneven and will last less. The crate is made of bars of the same size, which are placed at a distance of 50-60 cm from each other.

We spread the insulation

Between the bars, continue the film or foil with an overlap of 5-10 cm thick. It will protect the insulation from moisture. Then lay mineral or basalt wool on top, which will perfectly insulate the room.

To prevent heat from escaping, do not leave gaps and gaps between the cotton slabs. Place a thin layer of cross-linked polyethylene on top of the insulation and secure with strong adhesive tape.

Installation of lining

The lining is laid horizontally or vertically, depending on taste preferences. The vertical method will allow you to warm the air up to 100-120 degrees above zero. It will visually stretch the walls and increase the height of the ceilings. The horizontal method characterizes faster and easier installation. It will provide high-quality ventilation and increase the life of materials.

In both cases, laying starts from the corner. To fix the lining, clamps, nails and self-tapping screws are used. Remember that they should only be stainless galvanized. Otherwise, brown spots will appear on the walls.

Wall and ceiling treatment

In order for the lining to serve for a long time, the surface is varnished and painted, flame retardants and antiseptics. Means will protect wood from scratches and insects, dampness and rotting, mold and fungus, open flame.

Finishing the floor in the steam room

In the steam room, it is better to raise the floor by 15-20 cm, this will improve the thermal insulation in the room. For flooring use edged board or tile.

  • The boards are laid on wooden logs as tightly as possible to each other. It is better to round the edges of the boards so that small gaps remain. This will facilitate cleaning and speed up the runoff of water. Boards are fixed with self-tapping screws.
  • The tile is not afraid of dampness and is not subject to rotting, like wood. To lay tiles, first make a screed and level the surface. The tile is placed on a special glue and the seams are treated with a special moisture-resistant mixture. It will not allow moisture to get under the lining and form mold. Remember that for tiles need to do wooden shield not to slip.

Installation of windows and doors in the bath

As a raw material for windows and doors, it is also better to choose linden for the same reasons. Wood withstands high temperatures, does not burn or dampen.

The size of the windows should be selected depending on the purpose of the room. In the steam room, it is better not to install a window at all. If there is such a need, then choose a small window to minimize heat loss. Choose windows with heat-resistant glass!

Install a large window in the dressing room and rest room. It will give a lot of light, visually increase the space and simplify ventilation. To keep the heat in the room longer, place the window closer to the floor and install double frames.

For a bath, it is necessary to install at least two doors - the entrance and the door to the steam room. In addition, the layout may require a door to the rest room, shower room and other rooms.

There are three types of doors that are suitable for a bath or sauna:

  • Deaf (completely wooden) - a great option for the main entrance;
  • Glass - made from heat resistant glass, suitable for rest rooms and steam rooms;
  • Combined - wooden doors with a glass insert are suitable for a shower or relaxation room.

The choice of the type of door and window depends on the tastes of the customer. The company "Bath Furniture" presents a catalog with a wide selection of windows, doors and fittings of various configurations and sizes.

Shelves and furniture for the bath

The final stage will be the installation of shelves, benches and other pieces of furniture and interior. Shelves - the main element for arranging convenient placement in the steam room. As a rule, shelves are placed in the form of steps in 2-3 tiers. There may be more rows. But keep in mind that the distance between the lower level and the floor must be at least 80 cm.

Also for the arrangement you will need benches and benches. Carefully consider the quality control of such products. Items should not creak or wobble. Choose a smooth surface free of knots, burrs and roughness.

Cooperage products will make your stay in the bath comfortable and enhance the healing effect. Items are designed to store and use water. The company "Bath furniture" offers:

  • mugs and ladles
  • buckets, tubs and bowls
  • pouring devices
  • covers.

To arrange a dressing room or a relaxation room, choose tables and benches, deck chairs and armchairs, furniture sets. Don't forget about accessories. You will need hangers, a mirror, cabinets or drawers.

Comfortable furniture and accessories will transform the premises. They will allow you to relax as much as possible and enjoy outdoor recreation, have a great time in a friendly company.

Many lovers of bath procedures dream of building a bathhouse in the country or near the house. However, not everyone knows how to properly equip a bath so that it is not only comfortable, but also safe. We will talk about the principles of choosing materials for the interior decoration of the bath and methods of working with them later in the article with photos and videos.

About material requirements

Since there are very high temperatures inside the steam room of a Finnish bath, the materials for finishing it must be such that they do not burn human skin. Therefore, you need to pay attention only to those that are able to heat up no higher than 50-60 ° C. This group of materials includes only ceramic tiles and wood. And the walls around the stove and it itself must be lined with natural materials, such as rubble stone.

As for wood, the Finnish steam room does not use rocks with a high resin content. First of all, the restriction applies to the decoration of walls and ceilings, as well as pieces of furniture with which there is direct human contact.

The only means that can be used are antiseptic, flame retardant and hydrophobic impregnations. They do not harm health and reliably protect wood from destruction.

Characteristics of wood of various species

The arrangement of the bath inside can be done from various types wood available on the market. Let's bring brief description each of them.

Abashi

The so-called African oak, or Abashi, has a number of advantages:

  • ease;
  • strength;
  • durability;
  • smoothness and uniformity of wood without stains and knots.

However, not every buyer can afford such a tree because of its high cost.

Cedar

This wood is represented on the market by Altai, Canadian and Ussuri varieties.

The advantages of cedar are:

  • abundance of essential oils and lovely fragrance;
  • presentability;
  • resistance to damage by insects and fungus;
  • not afraid of high temperature and its differences, high humidity.

In addition, cedar wood has bactericidal, healing and soothing properties.

Linden

Linden is very often used for arranging a Russian bath, as it is quite common in middle lane and has good performance.

The positive qualities of linden wood are as follows:

  • pleasant color of the fibers;
  • subtle aroma;
  • healing properties;
  • resistance to high humidity and high temperatures;
  • strength and hardness, coupled with low weight.

If you suffer from various diseases of the respiratory system, lime steam room will be very useful for you.

Alder

A feature of alder is its pleasant smell and the ability to change the shade of wood when heated. It is noteworthy that after cooling, the color of the wood returns to its original, and no resin stains stand out. Alder does not heat up very much, so it is pleasant to the touch and does not burn the skin.

Larch

This conifer tree characterized by a long service life even at extremely high temperatures and humidity. In addition, evaporating when heated essential oils have a positive effect on the body. This wood is very strong and pleasant to the touch.

Pine

If you decide to make a do-it-yourself bath from pine or spruce wood, it is better to focus on rocks from the northern regions, in particular from Finland. Such a tree is not subject to rotting or damage by fungus and insects, it is able to resist high humidity, since it is dense. In addition, pine will create a delicate aroma of needles in the steam room.

Aspen

Aspen is one of the cheapest materials, as the color of the wood changes from white to dark as it is used. It does not contain resins and is easy to process. However, this tree is not able to cope with rotting and fungus, as well as other tree diseases.

Birch

The birch board is strong enough and has a uniform structure. However, to finish the bath, you need to use absolutely dry wood, so that when high temperature in the Finnish steam room, she did not begin to deform. In addition, birch has medicinal properties and attractive in appearance.

The method of interior decoration of the bath

Experienced craftsmen recommend not using wood for flooring in a Finnish bath, since it is quite difficult to dry such flooring, and over time an unpleasant smell may appear in the steam room. It is advisable to choose ceramic tiles for flooring.

Before equipping a tile floor inside the bath, you should level the base and pour the screed with a slope of 1% towards the pit, where water will accumulate. At the same time, the foundation for the future furnace should be prepared, which should rise 10 cm above the level of the floor with tiles.

The next step is to make a pit near the place for the stove, from which to lay a drain pipe with a diameter of 50 mm.

When the screed on the base dries, you can start laying the floor with clinker tiles, which are optimal for baths and do not slip when wet.

Installation of tiles begins from the corner farthest from the entrance to the steam room, laying it on heat-resistant glue with a layer thickness of 1.5-2 mm. To make the seams the same, use crosses or wooden bonnets. The width of the seam should not exceed 4 mm, and the excess adhesive released into the seams must be removed immediately.

As soon as the tile adhesive hardens, that is, after 1-3 days, the joints should be grouted. Available for sale special formulations, which can be selected by the color of the tiles. More convenient to work rubber spatula and after finishing work, wipe everything with a damp cloth.

At the last stage, wooden ladders are laid on the floor, which are pleasant to walk on with bare feet.

Ceiling work

The operating conditions of the Finnish steam room suggest that it is the ceiling that will heat up as much as possible. Therefore, when deciding how to equip a bath inside, it is better to dwell on the option of hemmed structures.

To do this, first of all, a frame is assembled from a 5 × 15 cm board. It is covered with a layer of plastic film, fastening it with brackets.

In the resulting nests of the frame are placed mineral wool for ceiling insulation. On top of it is a layer of vapor barrier membrane material.

The insulation must be fixed by stuffing perpendicular 3 cm slats onto the frame in increments of 6 cm. And already on top of the slats, wooden lining is mounted on clamps or other fasteners.

If you need to run a chimney into the ceiling, you should install a passage unit or flange into the frame. They can be purchased at specialized points of sale.

How to sheathe walls

The steam room must be well ventilated, so ventilation holes must be provided in them before sheathing the walls.

The air inlet window is located 50 cm from the floor near the stove. The outlet gate is made 50 cm from the ceiling. They are put on wooden lattices, after which you can start working with the walls.

First you need to place vertical supports, which are leveled and fixed to the walls with nails or self-tapping screws. The installation begins with the corner posts, after which, focusing on them, all the other beams are placed.

A membrane vapor barrier is fixed on top of the insulation and the slats are stuffed perpendicularly.

On the rails with the help of clamps or other fasteners, the lining is vertically fixed.

If you want to sheathe the walls with clapboard horizontally, then you don’t need to fill additional slats - just attach the clapboard directly to the support posts. These racks in this case should be 2-3 cm thicker than the insulation, so that the ventilation gap remains. You need to work from the bottom up.

We should not forget about the arrangement of the stove in the bath. The walls adjacent to it must be protected with soapstone, jadeite or other natural minerals suitable for lining the furnace.

The final stage of the interior decoration of the Finnish bath

In the steam room, you need to install a door leaf measuring at least 190 × 70 cm. It can be made of linden wood or tempered glass.

If, according to the project, the sauna is equipped with windows, it is better to stop at two-chamber models that retain heat much better. They are mounted low above the floor.

Lighting devices for the Finnish bath should be selected moisture and heat resistant. It is optimal to stop at fiber optic lamps.

Well, at the final stage, laying or installation of the finished stove is carried out in order to soon experience all the benefits of procedures in the Finnish steam room.
