Good day. Today we will talk about how to flush the oil from the engine cooling system? This is especially true for cars equipped with automatic transmissions and oil-and-antifreeze heat exchangers, since the risk of oil getting into them is much higher. This article discusses working flushing methods and popular misconceptions.

The article was written based on my own experience! All the tips in the article are tested in practice!

The main problem when oil gets into the coolant is the formation of an emulsion.

It looks like this:

The main difficulty with the emulsion is that it clogs up all the hoses and pipes, and the engine starts to overheat. Those. it flows very slowly and does not take away heat, and it is rather difficult to wash it.

Inoperative ways to flush the cooling system from oil (popular misconceptions).

Flushing the cooling system with plenty of running water.

We brought the radiator to the garden and flushed it back with water from the well. This did not work, it drives out large drops of oil with water, but the emulsion on the walls is not washed off (cold water cannot soften it). It takes more than one ton of very hot water to completely flush the cooling system from the emulsion.

Hot water is EXPENSIVE, not everyone has access to unlimited freebie hot water, respectively, we write in non-working methods.

Flushing the cooling system with whey.

I read this method on the Internet and decided to test it.

The washing method is as follows - we drain all the liquid from the cooling system and replace it with whey, in the warm season we ride for 2-3 days, drain the inversion, rinse it 2-3 times with cold water and fill in antifreeze.

Whey is freely available from the dairy department.

We tested this method after flushing the cooling system with water more than 10 times and backwashing the radiator.

We also write the method inoperative! No, the serum merged black and it washed out some kind of dirt, but it washes off the emulsion no better than water!

Partially working methods for flushing the cooling system.

Flushing the cooling system with FAIRY dishwasher.

The flushing technique is as follows - fill in the detergent (about a glass of 10 liters), warm up the engine to operating temperature and drain all the liquid from the system.

Repeat if necessary.

At the end of flushing, rinse the cooling system with water 2-3 times, drain everything and fill in antifreeze.

Partly working method The detergent does partially remove the oil emulsion, but it falls off in rather large pieces that do not pass through the radiator honeycomb, thermostat and thin hoses of the cooling system.

I summarize - you can rinse, but the product is not effective enough, it breaks down the emulsion, but does it in large pieces that do not pass through the radiators.

Flushing of the cooling system with automatic powder.

The method is slightly better than dishwashing detergent (less foam), but basically no different.

The only method of flushing the cooling system that worked was flushing the cooling system with SOLARKA (DT).

Desperate to wash the engine from the emulsion, I risked flushing the cooling system with diesel fuel.

The technique is as follows:

  • We drain all the liquid from the release system
  • We remove the thermostat (otherwise there is a possibility that the large circle will not open and the radiator will remain clogged)
  • Fill the entire cooling system with diesel fuel (to a minimum).
  • We warm up the car to operating temperature (we stand still, do not drive, without a thermostat it will take about 20 minutes to warm up)
  • We drain everything from the cooling system (I had black diesel fuel)
  • We rinse the system with water 2 times
  • Fill in antifreeze

Many are afraid to do this, fearing that the diesel fuel will ignite - nothing will happen to it, do not forget to remove the thermostat, otherwise the radiator will not work.

Some are afraid for the safety of the pipes, the pipes can swell and deteriorate from a fat diesel fuel - this is also nonsense! They will swell much sooner from an oil emulsion.

Methods that have not been tested.

Acid wash.

Here I include washing with carbonic acid (carbonated water), acetic acid, citric acid, it is obvious that these acids will not take the oil emulsion. But it is quite possible to flush the cooling system from scale and dirt.

Soda rinsing.

Soda won't remove the oil emulsion either, but aluminum will thank you for it! When flushing the cooling system with soda, it is diluted in a proportion of 100 g / liter.

Painting is the most used method when decorating walls and ceilings. And this is quite understandable, because this material is easy to use, even for the owner of an apartment or house without experience in conducting renovation works, it stays on surfaces for a long time, and its decorative possibilities are endless. It is with the help of paint that you can transform appearance any room - to make it a classic one-color in accordance with the principles elegant design or make bright patterns, and even recreate entire paintings on the walls. But with any artistic decision, the moment of its change comes, because the familiar picture in front of your eyes becomes familiar with time, brings boredom and no longer causes such delight as immediately after completion finishing works... Therefore, it is imperative to know how to wash the water-based paint before proceeding with the repair. In this article, we will offer you some helpful tips.

What is water based paint?

This is a quick-drying, safe and completely harmless solution for humans and the surrounding space. He does not have unpleasant odor, the application process is quite simple. Replaces whitewash, easy to clean and does not require special care. But during the repair process, the consequences of working with paint will certainly remain - stains, stains on the floor, furniture, clothes, floor coverings, etc. How to get rid of such inconveniences if the doors are dirty, how to remove and remove stains from plastic or tiles? How to remove paint from walls and ceilings or clothing linoleum?

How to clean water-based paint?

Before starting to remove the paint, determine its type. It can be: wood, concrete, glass or even fabric. Choose a removal method depending on this.

For washing water-based paint, depending on its content and the condition of the paint, you will need the following materials:

  • Plastic wrap, paper, crumpled newspapers;
  • Water;
  • Rag;
  • Capacity for water (bucket, basin);
  • Metal spatulas of various widths;
  • A roller with a soft fur coat that absorbs water and then, when rolling, applies it to the washed surface;
  • Brush with metal bristles;
  • Sandpaper;
  • Construction solvent;
  • Acetone;
  • Head cover, respirator, goggles, protective gloves;
  • Stepladder or stable furniture.

Where to begin?

To get started with removing water-based paint from ceilings, walls or linoleum:

  1. Cover all items in the room with newspapers or plastic wrap.
  2. Put on gloves, goggles, and a respirator (gauze bandage).
  3. Pour warm water into a container.

How to properly wash off paint?

There are several effective ways cleaning different surfaces from water-based paint. Choose the option that suits you from the options below.

Method 1 - mechanical cleaning with a brush

  1. Soak a roller in water and run it over the surface to be washed off.
  2. Leave the coating to soak for about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Take a spatula and remove the softened paint in one direction.
  4. If the paint does not peel off in places, re-wet with water or scrub the area with a metal bristle brush.

Important! This method is suitable for surfaces that are resistant to mechanical stress. If decided this wayclear linoleum, be very careful - a metal brush can leave scratches on the surface. Prefer the safer methodwashing surfacesfrom water-based paint or use a softer rubber trowel.

Method 2 - using a soap solution

  1. Prepare a soapy solution using warm water and remnants or washing powder.
  2. Apply soapy water to the coating with a brush or sponge.
  3. Leave it on for a while.
  4. Wash off with a wet cloth.
  5. Wipe the surface dry.
  6. Make sure there is no soapy residue on the coating.
  7. If you find such, repeat the washing procedure with running warm water

Method 3 - removing dried stains

Use lukewarm water to remove dried-up water-based paint stains if you didn't have time to clean the surface immediately after hitting it:

  1. Pre-soften the dried layer with water.
  2. If the leak is large, place a wet rag on top;
  3. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes;
  4. Remove the stain with a brush or common rag.

Method 4 - removing water-based paint from delicate surfaces

To remove water-based paint from linoleum or parquet, use plenty of water and gentle materials: a cloth or sponge without an abrasive surface. The removal procedure will be similar to method 3.

Important! Please note that a solvent will not work in this case, as it can promote even deeper penetrationpaints into the thickness of the material onsex.

Method 5 - cleaning water-based paint using solvents

To effectively remove such a solution, there are many chemicals.

For stubborn stains and thick layers of dried paint, use products with a high solvent content. This could be:

  • isopropyl alcohol;
  • formic acid;
  • dimethyl chloride.

All of them are safe for the environment and are readily degradable. Consumption of the substance is on average 1 liter per 5 square meters.

But there are other solvents containing toxic agents in their composition that cause side effects for human health. Therefore, when buying such a wash, carefully read the composition, especially if there are animals or children in the house.

Method 6 - special paint removers

The current market is full not only of products for finishing various surfaces, but also for removing various materials... Among the most effective and available options for cleaning water-based paint, the following are especially popular:

  1. Washing agent “Usadba” (Russia). Use on wood, metal and concrete surfaces. The composition does not contain harmful alkalis and acids, does not have a harmful effect on wood. The gel-like structure of the remover greatly facilitates the cleaning of both vertical and horizontal surfaces. During its drying, the paint softens and exfoliates. Mode of application:
    • Apply remover with a natural bristle brush.
    • Leave on for 10-20 minutes - the exposure time depends on the number of layers and the type of painted coating.
    • Remove softened paint with a spatula.
    • Rinse the surface with water.
    • Let dry.
  2. Softener and remover old paint Set Boya Sokucu from Marshall Boya (Turkey). It is used to remove water-based and other types of paint from wood, concrete and metal surfaces. To use this tool, do the following:
    • Apply the remover with a brush.
    • Leave it on for 5-15 minutes.
    • Scrape off any swollen paint with a spatula.
    • If there are non-exfoliated spots on the surface to be washed, repeat the procedure if necessary.
    • At the end of the work on flushing with a water-based paint, take a cellulose thinner, moisten a cloth with it, wipe the surface.

Method 7 - for professional builders

This option provides for the presence of special tools: a hair dryer and a drill with a grinding attachment.

Removing paint from the coating with a building hair dryer using high temperature happens as follows:

  1. Take a hairdryer, plug it in.
  2. Divide the area to be treated visually into small areas.
  3. Direct hot air to the painted area.
  4. If the tool has a built-in paint stripper plate, scrape in a forward motion in one direction. As the substance sticks, remove it with a separate spatula.
  5. Remove swollen warm paint with a spatula.
  6. Remove any remaining traces of paint with a wire brush or sandpaper.
  7. Vacuum, wet mop.

Method 8 - using a grinder

An effective method for removing thick, hardened paint layers is to use a sander. You can take a drill with a special nozzle for removing paint in the form of a round brush with iron bristles, or a metal nozzle-crown. Attachments are sold at any hardware and hardware store.

This option is most suitable for treating wood floors or walls, but can also be used for cleaning water-based paint from concrete substrates.

The removal scheme is similar to the previous method:

  1. Take the tool.
  2. Connect it to the network.
  3. Treat areas with unnecessary paint successively in small areas.
  4. Wipe the surface periodically with a damp cloth to remove the build-up of dust.
  5. Vacuum the walls, floor, and possibly furniture, if you have removed a large coat of paint, at the end of the work.
  6. Do a wet mop.
  7. Ventilate the room.

Important! Wear protective goggles and a respirator when working on the machine, as sanding generates a lot of dust.

Water-based paints are one of the most common, they are used both in repair and finishing work, and for artistic creativity, because to wash water-based paint from clothes, you need to know in advance and have suitable means on hand.

Water-based paint is loved by both professional builders and home craftsmen for their excellent specifications, this material:

  • easy to apply;
  • dries quickly;
  • practically odorless;
  • looks great after drying.

And most importantly, if the paint gets in the wrong place, it can be easily cleaned with improvised means. She is also liked by parents whose children are fond of artistic creativity - watercolors and gouache can be easily washed off with plain water and soap from any surface.

Traces of paint do not want to be washed off only if they immediately forgot about them, and they managed to dry out. How to remove water-based paint from clothes in this case is described in this article.

The best way to wash water-based paint from clothes depends on the basis on which it is made.

  1. Dyes based on polyvinyl acetate - that is, the most common PVA glue - are effortlessly removed from the fabric during normal washing with soap or powder. even long-term soaking is not required, you just need to wipe the stain under a stream of warm water, and then send the thing to the washing machine.
  2. Acrylic paint is resistant to water of any temperature, if such a stain is simply soaked in a bowl of soapy water, it will soften, but will not go away. Therefore, you will need a spatula or brush to scrape it off. the remaining residue is removed during a standard wash.
  3. Watercolors and gouache paints are water-soluble. To remove a stain from such a dye, it is enough to turn the fabric inside out and put it under a stream of water. Even without soap or powder, the fresh stain will be removed.

A fresh stain from any water-based paint can be easily removed with medical alcohol or ordinary vodka. You need to stretch the fabric and moisten it with alcohol, then rub it a little and wash it under running water.

When choosing a means to remove traces of paint from textiles, you should consider not only the type of water-based paint. The type of fabric is just as important, especially when dealing with old stains.

How to remove water emulsion from different types of fabric

If the work overalls are stained in the water-based paint, then you don't have to worry too much. Firstly, the overalls are then put on so as not to stain the beautiful everyday when carrying out repair work, and secondly, the robes are sewn from dense fabrics that easily tolerate both intense mechanical stress and caustic chemicals.

Such textiles, as well as jeans, can be safely processed with acetone or white spirit, after which the cleaned textiles are placed in a machine and washed in the usual way. What about more delicate fabrics?

  1. For fine natural fabrics such as chintz or silk, it is best to use refined gasoline. Blotting paper is placed under the stain, after which it is gently wiped with a cotton sponge soaked in solvent. You need to move from the edge of the spot to the center. If required, you can change the blotting paper and cotton swab in the process. After such processing, the thing must be washed and dried in the open air.
  2. Do not clean synthetic fabrics with gasoline. This substance and other aggressive solvents disrupt the structure of the fibers of the fabric and can even completely destroy them. Therefore, vegetable oil is used to remove water-based paint. A piece of cotton wool or a clean cloth is moistened in oil, a sheet of clean paper is placed under the stain and treated with oil. the stain will not go away immediately, you will have to be patient and do not forget to change the cotton pad and blotting paper from time to time. Traces of fat are removed with dishwashing detergent. and then the product is washed in the usual way.

If the dirt is very strong and old, and the listed remedies did not help to cope with them, you should use a knife, razor or scraper, acting gently and slowly.

In kindergartens and schools, painting lessons are mainly used with watercolors or gouache paints. And even if a child puts on an apron, arm ruffles or even a dressing gown, stains on clothes still cannot be avoided. If there are stains of glue-based paint on a blouse or pants, or on a school uniform made of fine wool, this recipe will help:

  • mix a tablespoon of ammonia alcohol and oxalic essence;
  • dissolve the resulting mixture in a glass of water;
  • gently treat stains, and then wash things immediately with detergent.

If the fabric is thick, you can add a mixture of ammonia and oxalic acid to a bowl of water and soak the soiled items in it until morning.

If stains from acrylic paint remain on the textiles, then a more caustic composition will have to be applied. To prepare it, you need to combine ammonia, table white vinegar and table salt in equal parts.

Rub the stains with this paste and leave for a quarter of an hour. Then the stains need to be rubbed with a brush and rinsed in cool water. If they have not moved away, the procedure is repeated. But you should not abuse such a tool, as it can change the color and structure of the fabric.

In the most extreme case, if none of the listed methods have succeeded in removing the stain, and the thing is expensive, you can contact a dry cleaner.

Beautiful ceiling not only decorates the room, but also visually enlarges it. It is not necessary to completely change the entire design, you can simply update old design paints and varnishes. Today, such funds can be easily purchased in almost every hardware store. Before painting the ceiling, the old layer must be removed to the plaster in order to ensure a better attachment of the material to the surface.

Features:

Removing emulsion paint always entails the formation of a large amount of dust and dirt. Often, the removal of its layers takes a long time and is rather laborious, since the characteristics of a particular composition are not taken into account in advance. That is why you must first evaluate the features of the product applied to the ceiling.

There are two types of water-based paint:

  • Waterproof. This group includes most of the materials that, after complete drying, become resistant to moisture. The use of such products is appropriate in rooms with a high level of humidity and on the outer walls of various buildings.
  • Non-waterproof. These products are not resistant to the effects of moisture, so they are used for dry interiors.

Taking into account the type of paint before removing it, you will greatly facilitate your task and get the job done better and faster.

How to wash off?

Water-based paint based on PVA is not resistant to moisture. To remove its layer, you just need a sponge with soapy water.

To clean acrylic paint that is resistant to water and soap, use mechanical means - a spatula or angle disc of a sander. Another great paint remover is to pre-cover the surface with newspaper. To prepare the glue, boil starch with sour cream, you can also purchase regular wallpaper glue. After the glue dries, it will be much easier to remove newspapers with paint.

Often, the product is removed with a chisel. This process will take a lot of energy from you, but the result will please you, the paint layer is removed efficiently and silently.

A building hair dryer for removing varnish is also often used. This tool heats up the old coated area as quickly as possible. Additionally, you can use a spatula. This method is used to remove acrylic water-based paint. And chemical-based products applied to the surface with a roller are absorbed into the substance and destroy it, being another effective method removing the old coating.

Preparatory work

Before removing the old coating from the surface, you must carefully prepare for this work. It is imperative to take out of the room absolutely all things that may be damaged or heavily contaminated during repairs. If anything remains in the room, cover the item with plastic wrap. If you don't plan on changing the floor, cover it with plastic as well.

Prepare in advance depending on the method for removing the water-based paint necessary tools. To maintain personal safety, be sure to apply:

  • respirator;
  • construction points;
  • cap or panama;
  • gloves.

To clean the ceiling, install a ladder, the condition of which also check in advance. Consider where to put your tools so you can easily access them.

How to quickly wipe off?

There are several good methodswith which you can remove water-based paint:

  • Mechanical cleaning - moisten the roller with water and walk it over the surface. After 15 minutes, remove the old coating with a spatula. In areas where it won't wash off, use a metal bristle brush.
  • You can remove the varnish with soapy water, which must be applied with a brush to the surface and left for a few minutes. Then wipe off the solution thoroughly, making sure there are no streaks. If there are streaks, wash them off with warm running water.
  • It is not difficult to wipe off old dried stains yourself. Soften the paint with warm water. If the stain is large, place a wet rag on it. After half an hour, wash off the stain with a brush.

  • You can clean emulsion paint using special products. Modern market offers a large selection of substances that allow you to remove more than one layer of paint in a few minutes.
  • You can clean the surface from the old water-based paint with a grinder. Take a drill with an iron-bristled round brush. This cleaning method is used for wooden floors and walls. But you can also clean paint off concrete with a grinder.
  • It is also possible to wash clothes from contamination with paints and varnishes. To do this, you need to soak things in warm water with washing powder. For more greater efficiency Pour dish soap on the stains and leave for an hour. Then rub your clothes well.

Surface

Water-based paint can remain on absolutely any surface. But it is quite possible to wash it off both from clothes and from the ceiling, floor and walls:

  • To clean the parquet floor from dirt, you need to use special products. Will do well with such a task methyl alcohol, you can also use acetone or vinegar. Apply the product to a damp cloth, wipe the area of \u200b\u200bcontamination with it. Then wipe off with warm water and let the parquet dry.
  • Linoleum - flooringwhich is often found in modern houses and apartments. Such a floor should be washed with warm water and neutral cleaners. If traces of paint, felt-tip pen or iodine are found on the floor, then kerosene, gasoline or turpentine will come to the rescue. All these funds have a negative effect on linoleum, so they should be used in minimal quantities and only when absolutely necessary.
  • It is easiest to remove water-based paint from tiles. A sponge and chemicals will be enough for you, since the tile is resistant to chemicals, and thanks to its glossy surface, paint does not penetrate inside. It will not be difficult to wash off the paint and varnish material from the tile.
  • The emulsion paint can be wiped off the door with a spatula. Moisten the surface with warm water and let it soak. Then remove the old paint with a spatula.

Material

Deleting paints and varnishes from surfaces from various raw materials is performed different ways... So, for example, when working with plastic, you need to be as careful as possible, because mechanical method may damage the surface. It is effective to use liquid glass or silicone sealant, which, when dry, destroy the paint, and it simply comes off the surface. Silicone hardens throughout the day.

Once dry, make a deep cut with a sharp knife, but be careful not to damage the surface of the plastic.

Often during coloring window frame, paint hits the glass. It's good if you notice the stain right away, because fresh dirt is much easier to remove.... If you don't notice the contamination right away, you will have to use a sharp knife. Moisten the glass with hot water and gently wash off the dried paint.

You can also resort to the thermal method using a building hair dryer. Aim a warm stream at the glass at an angle and hold until bubbles form. The paint can then be removed from the glass with a metal spatula.

It is also possible to remove emulsion paint from wallpaper. If the paint is still fresh, you can wipe it off with a cotton pad and makeup remover. If the substance is already dry, then you can knock on it and gently scrape it off with an iron tool. Wipe off any remaining paint with acrylic nail polish remover.

To make the removal of paints and varnishes even faster and better, you must adhere to the following recommendations:

  • Varnishes from some surfaces can be washed off with soapy water. In such situations, water must be applied to small areas, otherwise the surface will dry out quickly and the procedure will have to be repeated again.
  • If paint gets on the surface, wash it off immediately before it dries. Dry paint marks are more difficult to deal with.
  • If the agent gets on your clothes, wash it off with water as soon as possible or blot it with a napkin.

Interior decoration is not a simple construction process. It involves a lot of effort in its implementation. Today, people want to carry out repairs on their own to save money, and sometimes to show their talent. This fact is especially important for owners who are painting their house or apartment.

Water-based paint stains are a common problem after renovation

One of the favorite means of repair is water-based paint - this is a popular, high-quality and promising material. Water-based paint - in the shortest possible time will allow you to give the walls and ceiling a complete neat look. Sometimes, after the repair, stains remain after painting on pieces of furniture, clothes, this article is devoted to the problem of how to wash water-based paint after repair.

Water based paint

When removing a stain, you need to understand the composition of the paint. An easily washable paint is based on polyvinyl acetate or just PVA, a soap solution and a sponge are enough to remove the stain, and stains of this type of paint can be easily removed from clothes.

Acrylic water-based paint is wear-resistant to water and powders; to remove it from a hard surface, you need a spatula or a sharp object for mechanical action and scrubbing. If the stain turned out to be on things, we figure out which fabric base is soiled:

  1. Thick fabric, for example denim - this type of fabric is resistant to abrasion, you can try to remove the stain with a chemical solvent: White spirit or acetone, then wash in washing machine in the usual way.
  2. A thin, lightweight fabric without impurities of synthetic fibers, an example of such a fabric is chintz - the paint can be removed from it by mechanical erasure with gasoline, chemical solvents can also be used, but paper is placed under the fabric when removing the paint, and then it is necessary to wash it with detergents funds.
  3. Fabric based on polyester or other synthetic fibers. To remove water-based paint stains at home from this type of fabric, do not use any solvents, as these agents affect the composition of the fabric. Traces from this type of clothing can be removed using sunflower oil. Paper is again placed under the clothes, and the stains are wiped off with cotton pads dipped in sunflower oil, you should be patient, since the work is laborious and troublesome, the paint will hardly go away.

The listed methods will help to remove only fresh dirt. To remove dried traces from PVA-based water-based paint, it is necessary to moisten it abundantly with water to soften the dried paint layers, and then wipe it off with a brush, soak and wash the clothes in the usual way.

Dried paint spots should be moistened with water and wiped off with a brush

Other types of paints

Gouache, watercolor

Dyes of this type are water-soluble and can be easily washed off at home. Freshly soiled things can be washed with laundry soap in cold waterand then continue to remove the stains with your normal machine wash with the appropriate fabric.

To remove stains of gouache with an adhesive or oil base, prepare a solution of ammonia and oxalic acid in a ratio of 1: 1, in which clothes are soaked for 30 minutes.

Oil paints

Freezing oil paints, form a dense crust on the surface that can be carefully removed. Soften small grains of paint with sunflower or olive oil and remove the stain. It is not difficult to wash off greasy stains left after oil in boiling water with dish detergent, it perfectly breaks down fats and there will be no trace of the stain.

Acrylic paint

Stains of acrylic paint are among the most difficult to remove; in many cases, the stained thing cannot be saved. If the stain is fresh, you can prepare a solution of ammonia, vinegar and salt, take the ingredients at the rate of 1: 1: 1, apply this mixture to the stained place and stand for fifteen minutes until the solution works, then wash in the usual way.

Acrylic paint should be wiped off with a mixture of ammonia, vinegar and salt

Conclusion

The beauty of freshly painted walls is sometimes not worth an expensive and beloved thing, so before painting it is better to use old clothes, which, in extreme cases, you will not mind throwing away. If the trouble persists, and the spots flaunt on a brand new thing, then be careful with chemical solvents, follow the instructions for use.

Do not use them near fire. In case of contact with eyes, rinse skin under plenty of water.

Stains that have not been removed at home can be removed using the services of dry cleaning, where the paint is washed off competently and without harm to the fabric.
