Now let's talk about how to tidy up such an important piece of kitchen utensils. Our mothers and grandmothers have come up with many ways to effectively remove stains or unpleasant odors, they are all different and easily accessible.

We wash towels without boiling

An effective, no-boil method is to soak towels before washing.

With salt

Fill a bowl of water (preferably cold) and lightly salt it. For five liters, put about five tablespoons of salt and put dirty things in there. You can leave them like this overnight, or you can leave them for an hour if they are not very dirty. Then you can safely wash. As a result, they will be even cleaner than after steam boiling with bleaching.

With dish detergent

Likewise, your kitchen helpers are soaked with detergent. Take some regular dish detergent like Fairy, dilute in water and soak the towels for ten minutes. Then calmly proceed to a regular powder wash. This method is very helpful in removing fat. And if you are planning to soak white napkins, then add a couple of drops of ammonia to the water, then you will not need bleach.

With laundry soap

Another time-tested method that helps fight yellowness, and grease stains, and unpleasant odors. Wet the towels and lather them with soap with a fatty acid content of at least 72%. Put the soapy accessories in a plastic bag, leave for a day. Air should not pass inside. After the time has elapsed, you only need to rinse.

If mold suddenly appears on them, then wash them in the usual way, but then rinse with vinegar or hydrogen peroxide. Do not be afraid for the color, vinegar is harmless, unless, of course, you leave the laundry in this solution for a long time.

Vegetable oil will help to defeat stains

It happens that regular washing is not enough, the stains remain in their places, oily and dark, they still have not gone anywhere. So, it's time to take drastic measures.

  1. Put a bucket of water on the fire, and as soon as it boils, add two tablespoons of dry bleach, the same amount of tablespoons of vegetable oil and one incomplete glass of washing powder. Throw dry towels into this mixture, turn off the stove and leave the laundry to cool completely. Then it only remains to rinse it.
  2. Add three tablespoons of baking soda, washing powder, vegetable oil, and bleach to hot water. You need to soak the textiles overnight and machine wash them in the morning. Better to choose a quick wash.

Get rid of greasy stains and unpleasant odors

Coarsely grate half a bar of laundry soap and mix it with one handful of soda ash. Place the mixture in a large enamel pot and cover halfway with the water. When the mixture is completely dissolved, place the textiles in there and turn on the heat on the stove. As soon as the water boils, turn the fire down and leave the laundry on the stove for another quarter of an hour. After this procedure, you need to wash them in a machine, and if there are a lot of greasy spots, you can add whiteness. Even the biggest and the most persistent there is a right.

Now you are not afraid of grease, smell, or any other kitchen dirt. Just remember that the more often you change the napkins, the easier they will be to wash off. Therefore, do not wait for them to stick up or completely lose their color under a layer of dirt.

In the kitchen, no housewife can do without small towels and napkins. Over time, they all lose their neat appearance and turn into gray rags, coating, sauces and the like. They constantly get dirty and are subject to constant washing and bleaching. Some people use household chemicals, but you can use folk remedies using vegetable oil, soda, vinegar and other improvised means.

General rules

If the following rules are followed, then things will not fade and do not take on a shabby look, they do not have to be washed often, bleached and boiled:

  1. Purchase several kitchen sets to use and have in reserve for a shift.
  2. While the dirt is visually invisible, do not rush to wash it off. The towel can serve in the kitchen from two to three days. If it stays clean for a longer time, it is enough to change it once a week.
  3. After washing, treat the items with an iron; this will make them look neat and keep them clean for a longer time.
  4. Use napkins or rags to wipe down dirty table or stove surfaces. They will not need to be washed thoroughly and, if desired, you can simply get rid of them by throwing them in the trash.

For kitchen terry fabrics are not suitable... From the absorbed moisture, they dry out more slowly and harmful microflora begins to develop in them. Better buy waffle cottons or linen. At home, you can get rid of dirt and terry products and bleach them with vegetable fats.

Methods for cleaning a burnt pan

It's hard to get rid of old dirttherefore it is recommended to wash kitchen textiles more often. Kitchen items have greasy stains and should be separated from regular items when washing. But if they are odorless and practically clean, then this is not necessary, here only sorting by color is required.

When you work in the kitchen, use disposable paper napkins. After wiping the dishes or hands with them, you can simply throw them away. With napkins, you can wipe off any dirt and grease, and it is better to blot moisture from washed hands with a cloth product. And unkempt spots will appear less frequently.

Whitening with vegetable oil

The methods may seem very unusual to some housewives. When grease gets on the fabric, it is very difficult to get it back clean. But here they knock out a wedge with a wedge. Dirt from the threads is well removed by the fatty component in the solution. These methods are highly praised by the hostess, they cope with stains and retain bright colors for a long time. This does not happen with commercially available bleaching products, especially if they contain chlorine.

First recipe

To prepare the mixture, you must take the following components:

  • water - 5 liters;
  • dry bleach and refined vegetable oil - 2 tbsp each spoons;
  • washing powder - half a glass.

Even the cheapest bleach and washing powder will do for this product. Take hot water immediately after boiling. Mix all the ingredients well and soak the kitchen linen in this product for two hours. Then wash and rinse. Laundry immersed in the solution must be dry.

How to erase pen marks from paper

This way you can get rid of stubborn stains and whiten towels without boiling at home. After the first wash, heavy dirt may remain, but it will disappear after the next wash.

Second recipe

Steep boiling water is used, the procedure is similar to the previous one, but it is designed for a large volume of liquid, which means that it will take longer to cool. Take:

  • boiling water - 15 liters;
  • bleach powder, refined vegetable oil and vinegar essence - 3 tbsp each spoons;
  • any washing powder - 150 gr.

Dissolve the bleach together with the washing powder in a small amount of liquid, and then mix all the components in the remaining water until the powder is completely dissolved. Soak dry items in this solution overnight. Wring lightly in the morning and wash by hand or in the washing machine.

Third option

There is an ancient Japanese recipe for washing kitchen linen with vegetable oil. This recipe is very popular. Pour into a bucket of water at a temperature of about 60 ° C, add 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil to the water, 1 tablespoon of mustard powder and vinegar. You now have a solution in which to soak dirty kitchen towels. After loading the laundry, cover the bucket with a lid. When 12 hours have passed, the laundry can be taken out, it should be rinsed 4 times, alternating cold and hot water.

Basically, to wash kitchen towels, you just throw them in the washing machine:

  • White towels are washed at the maximum time and temperature settings (90-100 degrees). If the towels are not too dirty, then the optimal temperature is 40-60 degrees.
  • Colored towels it is better to wash at a temperature not exceeding 40 degrees.

However, removing stubborn stains from, say, grease, coffee, or beets requires more serious measures and clever tricks: boiling, soaking, using bleach and stain remover, baking soda, vinegar and other home remedies. We will talk about them in this article.

  • The main thing is not to use radical methods more than once a month, so as not to wear out the fabric ahead of time. If properly cared for, kitchen towels will last for several years.

Another important note: only white and light waffle towels can be boiled and bleached with chlorine bleach. Colored and terry cloths can be washed by hand / machine only with oxygen bleach and not too long.

As we have already noted, a temperature of 90-100 degrees is suitable for white products, 40-60 degrees for colored ones. Secondly, it is best to wash kitchen towels separately from clothes, linen, etc. Third tip: if necessary, it is better to pre-soak very dirty towels.
  • How to achieve the best whitening results? First, the laundry needs to be washed or soaked with powder, and only then you can start bleaching.
  • What's the best way to store dirty kitchen towels at home? This method is perhaps the most convenient: somewhere in the kitchen, hang a basket or a small bag (preferably mesh) on a hook. The towels will dry and be stored there until the day of washing. And if you allocate a place for storing clean towels nearby, then changing kitchen textiles will become even more convenient.
  • How often to wash and change towels? Ideally, once a day, especially if you are an active cook, you have a large family and you cook several times every day. Another tip: try to wash and change towels after wiping your hands / cutting board / utensils with them while cooking raw meat, fish or eggs.
  • Which towels are more practical? For wiping dishes, surfaces, vegetables and fruits, it is best to have waffle towels or smooth kitchen towels.

  • But terry towels are appropriate in the kitchen only for wiping your hands.as dirt accumulates more quickly in them. To help the kitchen towels get less dirty at first, try ironing them with an iron after washing.
  • How many towels should be in the kitchen? Usually, the duty set includes: a hand towel, a towel for wiping dishes and vegetables, if desired - a towel for wiping work surfaces, washing, cutting board (besides the rag). In any case, there are no many towels in the kitchen, because the more often we change them, the less we get them dirty and wear out with aggressive washing.
  • How to prevent odors? Air dry the kitchen towels before putting them in the laundry basket. After washing, try to hang the items immediately, ideally dry them in the sun or a hot radiator. For textiles to smell pleasantly, add the mixture to the water when rinsing kitchen towels baking soda and your favorite essential oil.
