Many men use the garage for more than just a parking lot. Often tools or old things are stored in the garage, which are a pity to throw away, but there is no place for them in the apartment. Also, repairs or other works are often carried out in the building, requiring the presence of tools and dimensional material. Thus, the building often becomes like a warehouse.

Wall or hanging shelves in the garage are a great way to store a lot of things without cluttering up the useful area of \u200b\u200bthe room.

Durable and reliable material designed for heavy loads. Metal shelves can withstand a lot of weight, it is convenient to store parts and tools on them. Also, the metal is durable and wear resistant. If the material is coated with a special composition against corrosion and rust, then the structures made of it can serve for many decades.

Unlike metal, wood is more affordable. Easy to process, does not require welding. Wooden shelves can also serve for a long time, the only drawback is low resistance to changes in temperature and humidity conditions.

To improve the wear resistance and durability of wooden elements of the shelves, it is required to periodically cover the material with special covering paints. This will help the wood to avoid rotting, deformation and pest damage.

Other materials, such as plastic, plywood, stone, are rarely used for the manufacture of shelves.

Constructive variations of hanging shelves

They can be open or closed. With or without back wall. Most often, a metal corner and a wooden base are used for the manufacture of such structures. They are hung on the walls with anchors. The attachment type can be permanent or removable.

These structures are made from a metal corner, wooden base, as the side walls, a special cable or a metal round profile is used, fixed to special anchors.

These shelves are suspended on special hooks driven or welded into the ceiling beams. The advantages of ceiling shelves are quick dismantling if necessary. Disadvantages - a rather wobbly structure, which can swing from touching.

It is not recommended to store expensive tools or fragile items on such shelves.

Shelf in the form of a tool plate

This design is equipped with small shelves for storing small items and special hanging fittings. The shield consists of a sturdy back wall fixed in the wall with an anchor. Shelves, special hooks or tool holders are mounted on the wall.

This shelf is very convenient for carpentry and locksmith work. Most often, such a shield is hung in front of the workbench so that all the necessary tools are at hand. Sometimes the shield is equipped with additional lighting in the form of a lamp on a movable leg.

If you want to save usable floor space, you can make a hanging shelf with a ceiling mount with your own hands.

Materials required for the manufacture of a structure

Tools for work

  1. Drill with a drill for wood. The drill diameter must match the diameter of the stud.
  2. Rotary hammer for drilling holes in the ceiling for fastening anchors. The drill should be slightly smaller than the anchor diameter.
  3. Wrenches, their marking must match the size of the nuts used.
  4. Electric jigsaw.
  5. Screwdriver.
  6. Bubble level.

Work order

Step 1. To begin with, a shelf of the desired width and length is cut from a sheet of plywood or fiberboard.

It is worth knowing that it is recommended to place load-bearing pins with an average load on the material after 60-70 cm. If the shelf is longer, then over time the plywood or fiberboard will noticeably bend and sag.

Step 2.To increase the strength of the material, it can be fixed at the ends of the plate metallic profileequipped with internal stiffeners.

Step 3.Holes for studs are marked along the edges of the shelf. It is worth knowing that it is advisable to drill 5-7 cm from the edges of the slab. If the holes are too close to the ends, the material may crumble under the weight of the items on the shelf.

Step 4.After the holes are drilled, the shelf must be attached to the ceiling and, using a pencil, transfer the location of the holes to the ceiling. Thus, the structure will be located without distortions and there is no need to be afraid that the pins are deformed.

Anchor holes are drilled in the ceiling, dust is removed from them. The anchors are driven into the concrete until they stop and the nuts are tightened.

Long metal studs connect to anchors located on the ceiling. The connection is fixed using nut-sleeves. It is also advisable to secure the connection with an additional conventional nut, which is screwed onto the thread of the stud.

Step 5.After the studs are firmly fixed to the ceiling, the shelf installation period begins. A nut is screwed onto the stud, then a washer. After that, a shelf is strung at the ends of the studs.

The shelf is fixed using a Grover washer and a control nut. Washers protect the shelf openings from breaking under load. The grover serves as protection against loosening of the fastening nut. Two nuts can be used for safety and greater structural strength. The final adjustment of the fixing hardware is carried out at the level.

Such a hanging shelf will significantly save space in the garage. The only drawback is the mobility of the structure. You can eliminate it using a special metal corner. One edge of the corner is attached to the wall, the other to the base of the shelf. Thus, the entire suspended structure... Also, the metal corner will strengthen the shelf, which will affect its durability.

DIY tool shelf

In order for all small tools to be at hand during locksmith or carpentry work, you can think over and make a special shield. Shelves-shields are not distinguished by high carrying capacity and strength, heavy tools cannot be stored on them, but for small and necessary things that are always lost, such a design will be ideal.

It's important to know!

  1. It is advisable to hang the shelf with the tool on a plastered wall, otherwise condensation will accumulate between the brick or block surface and the wall of the shelf. Constant high humidity will negatively affect the shield material, may cause it to deform or rot.
  2. The average load per square meter of the backboard surface should not exceed 14 kg. Weighting the structure will lead to rapid destruction.
  3. The height of the backboard is determined by the height of the garage owner. The top edge of the shelf should not be taller than a human being. Otherwise, it will be inconvenient to take tools from the shield.
  4. If shelves are thought out on the shield, it is not advisable to make them closed. It will also make the job more difficult. All small tools and parts should be in the public domain.

How to make a shield with your own hands

Materials and tools

Step 1.First you need to choose the size of the shield. Most often, such a shelf is fixed in front of the workbench, at which a person is engaged repair work... It is desirable that the width of the shield is slightly larger than the dimensions of the workbench.

Step 2.Then a shield is cut out of plywood or other material. Immediately, a place for small shelves is marked on it.

Step 3.Then, using a jigsaw, shelves with side walls are cut out. The side walls of the shelves can be made the same size as the length of the backboard. Further, using long self-tapping screws, the shelf structure is assembled and attached to the surface of the shield. A place for storing jars and boxes with nails and other small things is ready.

Step 4.Attaching hooks. To do this, holes are drilled in the shield and dowels are driven into them and special threaded hooks are screwed in. It is advisable to think in advance where and what instrument will be located. Based on this, hooks are drilled.

Then lugs or brackets are attached to the back wall to fix the shelf to the wall. The last step is to mount the shelf on the wall. Holes are drilled with a perforator, anchors are driven into them. If the shelf is fastened "tightly", then you can strengthen the fixation of the structure using a special washer, which will prevent the lugs from sliding off the anchor.

A simple and convenient tool and part shield is ready. If all the tools and material are available, then it can be done in a few hours.

Video - Small shelves on the wall for storing keys and other tools

Almost all men living in their own apartment, and even more so in a private house, dream of creating at least a small workshop with a set of necessary tools. But quite often, inexperienced beginners simply do not know where to start. Therefore, the question arises - what tools are desirable to have at hand in the first place. And second - how to organize a workshop with maximum ergonomics, conveniently placing everything you need in it.

Let's try to provide all possible help. Topic for today's review: home workshop - optimizing space and convenient storage of tools. Some recommendations will be given, shown good examples... Well, to think out, "adjust" to the existing conditions - you have to yourself.

Home Tools

Even if the owner of the house is not a big fan of working in the workshop, one still cannot do without a certain set of tools in the household. Therefore, in order to always have everything you need at hand, you should make a list and start purchasing tools. Sooner or later they will definitely come in handy both in an apartment and in a private house. It is clear that only people with a sufficiently high income can afford to buy the whole set at once. Usually the "arsenal" is formed over several years, but you can start with the simplest.

By the way, even if a woman starts an independent life, the apartment should also have at least some tools. But the list of the "female set" is much more modest.

In hardware stores, you can find ready-made universal tool sets. Perhaps they are suitable for those who only use them as a last resort. In addition, often the tools in them are not of high quality. And most often, a home kit and consumables for it are acquired gradually.

So, in order not to run around neighbors in search of what is needed, each owner should have the following tools:

IllustrationFunctionality
Hammer with a metal striker (head).
Without this tool, nothing at all. It's not bad if it is a nail hammer, that is, two tools in one.
Hammers with a rubber or wooden striker are also on sale, but they have a specific purpose, and are rarely used in ordinary household work.
It is recommended to choose a tool with a high-quality wooden or modern polymer handle with rubberized pads.
A screwdriver set containing tools with different tips. The main ones are cross and flat.
The purpose of screwdrivers is screwing and unscrewing screws, screws, screws. It is desirable that the kit includes at least three basic types of screwdrivers of different diameters. They will be necessary for working with both small and large fasteners.
The length of the metal tip of screwdrivers can also vary. For example, hard-to-reach, recessed areas where you need to screw in a self-tapping screw will require a long screwdriver. For work that is carried out on the desktop, it is more convenient to use a tool with a short sting.
Additionally, a tool is selected for specific purposes. For example, it is good if an indicator screwdriver is included in the kit. It is necessary when carrying out electrical work, to check the voltage, the location of the phases of the wires, etc.
Pliers (pliers, pliers).
For homework the best option will be universal option this tool combining both pliers and wire cutters. The former will help you clamp and hold an object, and the latter will easily cut the wire or wire.
The handles of the pliers must be insulated so that, if necessary, they can be used for electrical work.
This tool is also required when carrying out plumbing and carpentry work.
Set wrenches necessary when working with threaded connections, including hex bolts.
The set should include wrenches of different sizes, corresponding to the sizes of nuts and bolts.
Wrenches should be included in every home tool kit, as they can quickly tighten the fasteners of a sofa or chair, table and nightstand, etc.
Adjustable wrench - this tool, in principle, is able to replace a whole set of wrenches. Without it, it can be difficult to cope with plumbing repair tasks.
Remember that the key has a considerable size and is quite massive, so it is not always convenient for them to work. At the same time, it is unlikely that it will help if it is necessary to unscrew a rusted bolt.
So it should be, rather, in addition to the set of wrenches, but not in exchange for it.
Hacksaw for working with wooden details will be necessary when carrying out repairs in the apartment. In a private house, you cannot do without it at all, since you have to perform a lot of daily operations, for example, pruning trees.
In addition to her, it is good to have a two-handed saw on hand if firewood is used on the farm.
A hacksaw for metal will allow you to cut a pipe, metal rod, thick cable, metal sheets of small thickness, etc. Most often, the need for this tool arises from the owners of private houses.
When purchasing this type of hacksaw, you must immediately buy a consumable material - blades, since they break quite easily.
An ax will most likely be necessary for a private house, as it is used during construction, repairs, and also for chopping firewood.
The building level is useful for both an apartment and a workshop in a private house. It will help to achieve perfect evenness when hanging shelves or paintings, exposing floor logs, during masonry work and in many other cases.
Depending on the purpose, its length is chosen. For example, a short version (400 - 800 mm) is suitable for small apartment work, and a long tool is more suitable for arranging floors or leveling walls.
A measuring tape will always come in handy both in the house and in the apartment.
For example, to purchase flooring, carpet or other objects and materials, it is necessary to measure the dimensions, calculate the area on which they will be laid or installed.
For residential needs, a tape measure 3 ÷ 5 meters long is suitable.
For a private house, and even more so for taking measurements on personal plot, it is better to purchase a ten-meter one with a soft ruler.
Electric drill.
This tool is nowadays a must in any home. In an apartment, especially if it is located in a panel house, you cannot do without a drill when hanging cabinets, installing some plumbing accessories.
For drilling solid walls, it is better to purchase a device equipped with an impact function.
For the drill, you must immediately purchase a set of drills of different sizes for wood, concrete and metal, so that it is equipped for all occasions.
A screwdriver is an indispensable thing in a home workshop that will help you quickly tighten a self-tapping screw or screw, drill a hole in wood or metal. With the help of a screwdriver, it will be much easier to make a shelf or repair pieces of furniture.
Therefore, every homeowner should have this tool. In the kit with a screwdriver, you must purchase a set of bit holders and the bits of various types themselves.
An electric jigsaw will also become an indispensable assistant when repairing or making useful things. It will significantly speed up the work on the preparation of material for clapboard wall cladding, sawing thin slats, timber, thin logs and branches on garden plot... When making furniture yourself using a jigsaw, you can cut sheet materials with the creation of complex curvilinear shapes.
Having a jigsaw, you can often refuse to buy hacksaws for wood and metal. But you should immediately purchase a set of files for different materials.
A grinder or "grinder" is most often required for a private house, as it is designed for sawing materials that have a solid structure.
With the help of it, slate is cut, metal is cut and polished. It is also suitable for cutting ceramic or even paving slabs. It often becomes irreplaceable for the car enthusiast in the garage.
A caliper is a device that allows you to accurately measure products - their diameter, width, hole depth, etc.
You can find a regular instrument on sale or a digital version of it.
A rechargeable flashlight will sooner or later be needed in any home, so it should always be kept charged.
For example, in the apartment the lights suddenly went out or there was a leak under the sink, and an urgent need to find the cause of the accident.
In a private house, it is generally difficult to do without a flashlight, and its application has a wider range.

This table presents only the basic tools that should be present in the "arsenal" of any homeowner. Of course, everyone decides for himself which of them to include in the home instrumental set, and with which you can wait.

If the hobby of the master is electronics, jewelry, wood carving, making metal or wooden tools for suburban area or other directions, then you will need special tools designed for a certain kind of work. But such craftsmen do not need special advice. They themselves can give their recommendations to anyone.

Organization of a workshop and storage places for home tools

A well-equipped workshop with a conveniently located tool and the necessary consumables is a guarantee of fruitful high-quality work

In a private house, even during its construction, the owner usually allocates space for a workshop in advance. Or he organizes it in a shed or garage. It is more difficult to allocate personal space in an apartment. But if it provides for a spacious storage room, a balcony or a loggia, then those who like to tinker will immediately "occupy" this territory.

Some craftsmen limit themselves to a reliable table and purchased plastic organizer containers for storing tools. Others, with ingenuity, come up with various cabinets, shelves or stands. They take up a minimum of space and do not clutter up even small rooms.

Arrangement of a workshop on the balcony

If the workshop settles down on a small balcony or loggia, and it is planned to use it all year round, then a number of measures must be taken. First of all, to create a comfortable indoor environment in the cold season, it must be insulated.

Thermal insulation of the balcony significantly expands the functionality of this room!

Cold balconies or loggias are not used in winter, and often gradually turn into a warehouse of unnecessary trash. Why not turn it into a year-round facility? - read in a special publication of our portal.

The second task, without which the workshop will be incomplete, is to conduct electricity into the room and install lighting devices.

When the room is completely ready, you can proceed to the layout of the workspace. The plan will naturally depend on the configuration of the balcony. As a rule, this is a very small area, often only 1200 mm wide. However, even within such limits, the craftsmen manage to equip everything necessary for comfortable work.

The main thing in the workshop is a reliable and durable workbench table. It has a thick worktop that can support the weight of the tools. The loads must also be taken into account when applying efforts during work. The table must be well lit, therefore, when laying the wiring, this must be taken into account.

Shelves are fixed above the table for storing tools. And under them on the wall, you can install metal hooks or other devices for the convenient location of small hand tools. There are a lot of such ideas, and they will be discussed in a separate section.

The main tool that is used most often is installed on the table. If it is large enough, then it should be positioned so that there is room for other work.

An excellent option that will help save space and allow you to keep all the tools in order is a transforming cabinet. Such a cabinet involves the use of not only its main space, but also doors. Horizontal lintels are fixed on the sashes, which are not only stiffeners, but also functional shelves.

The cabinet also comes with a workbench, which is mandatory for the workshop. In the example shown above, it is foldable. However, the table top and support for it must be reliable.

The cabinet opens and the table unfolds only when it is planned to carry out any work. The rest of the time, it is compactly located near the wall.

The cabinet design is simple. It is assembled from timber and plywood of various thicknesses. Therefore, it is quite possible to make it yourself for the specific dimensions of the available space. If this is not possible, then the cabinet can be ordered to an experienced carpenter, providing the dimensions taken from the place of its intended installation.

Don't forget about the space under the table. There is quite a lot of space for arranging closed and open shelves. To keep neat appearance workshop, the aforementioned plastic tool containers can be placed on the shelves under the table.

Another option for expanding the workspace. We are talking about installing mobile pedestals and racks with tools under the table. Naturally, such pieces of furniture will have to be adjusted according to the parameters to the height and width of the table. The extended pedestal immediately increases the area of \u200b\u200bthe workbench, since its surface can also be used for work.

If the space on the balcony is completely limited, or it is completely absent, then a wall cabinet will do, which can even be placed in the hallway. The photo shows two options for cabinets. One of them has a door made of one piece, and the other is made of perforated plywood. Thanks to the holes provided in the door leaf, some tools can be attached to it using hooks. However, this model can hardly be hung in the hallway. The solid door will completely hide the contents of the cabinet, and its surface can be masked, for example, with a mirror. Note the many pull-out drawers in the closet. An excellent place for storing various sorted "little things" and fasteners.

Setting up a workshop in the garage

Another place where a workshop is most often organized is a garage. This is understandable, since the machine requires periodic maintenance, and a large number of tools are placed here. Therefore, it is easier to combine everything you need in one room.

If the garage is wide and long, then shelving can be placed along the far and side walls. The result of this layout is a spacious work surface and a large space below it. Everything you need will fit seamlessly here.

For the safe operation of both the workshop and the garage itself, it is recommended to make floor racks, as well as hinged stands from non-combustible material. If wood is chosen for the manufacture of wall shelves, it must be treated with a flame retardant impregnation.

If the garage is not wide enough, there is still enough space along the back wall to organize a workshop with a work table and numerous cabinets. The only thing to consider for any garage workshop is the light intensity. In such a structure, as a rule, there is a lack of windows that let in natural light. And you have to compensate for this electric.

If there is no desire or ability to stretch the tool racks over the entire length of the garage, you can apply the idea of \u200b\u200ba retractable rack design. Moreover, if you correctly place the retractable panels, then in combination with them it is quite possible to organize the work surface. When the panels are shifted to one side, a sufficiently spacious and reliable tabletop opens up to the eye, allowing you to perform the necessary work.

To create such a structure, you will need panels, for example, from MDF. Perforation can be made - this way the weight of the panels is significantly reduced, and the holes are useful for fixing tools. Small wheels are fixed on the upper and lower sides. In addition, guides will be needed to ensure free and smooth movement of the panels. They are fixed on the desktop and on the ceiling. Or on the shelf provided above the workbench, which also will not become superfluous.

If the garage is not only narrow, but also short, and it is necessary to organize a workshop in it, then the option of a folding table will do. The table top of such a workbench, if not needed, falls down along the wall. Well, above the table, you can place a stand or hanging shelves with a tool. The area of \u200b\u200bthe garage will be significantly saved, and the tabletop will not interfere in any way with putting the car in the garage or performing certain maintenance work.

The option of placing tools on stands fixed above the desktop is convenient because everything you need will always be in sight. Thanks to this arrangement, you do not have to look for the required consumables or, for example, a wrench or screwdriver of the required size. The stands are provided with boxes with cells for bolts, screws, nuts and other small elements. Moreover, for convenience, the boxes are located at a slight angle - their contents are immediately visible.

The upper shelves, which have a great depth, can be used both for storing electric tools and for various compositions, also necessary for performing some types of work.

Such arrangement working area can be organized both in the garage workshop and on the balcony.

The compact but roomy cabinet is ideal for small room garage. And all necessary tools and consumables distributed very ergonomically. The upper part of the cabinet is reserved for storing tools with the average size... Its lower part is a kind of chest of drawers with numerous narrow drawers... Thanks to the correctly selected height of the boxes, order will always reign in their cells, since each thing stored in them has its own place. When drafting such a cabinet, you must immediately plan in which drawer and what will be stored. Depending on this, and choose the height of the sections. Well, even a novice home carpenter can make such a cabinet.

The mobile version of bollards or tool trolleys solves many problems. This allows them to be used in different places in the garage, as well as in the yard. Such convenient devices do not take up a large area, and thanks to rather large wheels and specially provided handles, they are easy to transport. At the same time, they accommodate many necessary heavy tools.

The mobile cart can be purchased ready-made, as they are presented in a fairly wide range. But it will cost a lot. Therefore, it is best to draw up a drawing and make it yourself from a bar and plywood. And powerful wheels are easy to find in a furniture hardware store.

Useful little things when arranging a workshop

This section presents some of the reader's ideas that will help you organize your workplace optimally. Many of them have practically no effect on the family budget.

A great way to save space and always have consumables in sight is to keep them in clear plastic jar-like containers. They can be bought ready-made or used for their manufacture the containers left over from various products. Some workshop owners use instead plastic containers glass jars, but they have to be handled very carefully. The principle of their fastening is as simple as possible - the covers are screwed from the inside with self-tapping screws to the bottom surface of shelves or wall cabinets. And it turns out that these surfaces also become functional.

Another approach can be applied. Side part plastic cans are cut in half to the neck, which should remain intact. In this case, the covers are screwed not to the bottom, but to the side surface of the wall cabinet, which is also rarely used for storing tools. It turns out open containers-bowls for all small things. An example is shown above.

If there were no plastic jars at hand, and glass ones do not inspire confidence, then you can use bottles from under drinking water, which you will definitely find in every home. A hole is cut out in their upper part, convenient for reaching the parts stored in them. Rings are screwed into the caps - for the convenience of hanging bottles on hooks or even on hammered nails.

There is usually no shortage of canisters in the garage, and they can be plastic or metal. Any of them, unnecessary or unsuitable for direct use, can be used with benefit. And evidence of this is a large number of ideas for their use. For example, if a solid steel or aluminum canister has been damaged, and it is no longer possible to store liquid formulations in it, you should not rush to throw it away. From such a container, you get a reliable and convenient container for storing and carrying tools. To make it, it is enough to carefully cut the side of the canister. Then - secure the edges of the cut with a rubber sealing strip, fasten the hinges and the lock. And the inner space is divided into cells using plywood partitions and shelves. This container can be used to store some tools in the garage, in the trunk of a car, or on the balcony.

Depending on the shape and size of plastic canisters, you can assemble boxes for a cabinet, rack or cabinet from them. The main thing is that you don't have to spend a lot on plywood and boards. And the fuss with the assembly of numerous boxes is not expected.

In the canister, it is enough to cut one of the sides, leaving the handle and lid intact - and the container is ready. Depending on what size the parts are planned to be stored in this box, the size of the canister is also selected.

Many home workshop owners have appreciated the convenience of magnetic strips, which store bits for a screwdriver, drills, screwdrivers, scissors and other similar tools. The comfort of operation lies in the fact that you do not have to look for and get, and then put in place the tools. They can be easily removed and then reattached to the magnetic stripe, without too much distraction from the work begun.

Tool box FIT

If there are magnets (and you can find them if you wish), then making such an improvement in the workplace is a piece of cake. You can find ready-made magnetic shelves in furniture fittings or kitchen utensils stores.

But such a device for storing pliers, screwdrivers, scissors and other tools can be made by any owner who begins to organize a workshop. This will require pieces of ordinary polypropylene pipes with a diameter of 20 to 32 mm. The cost of such pipes is low, and in addition, they can remain after repairs. The pipe is marked and cut into equal lengths with a 45 degree bevel in one direction. Then the location of the holders is also marked on the wall or board. After that, according to the marking, the prepared segments are fixed using self-tapping screws through the protruding beveled edge. instead of pipes, sections of a strong reinforced hose can also be used. Fast, cheap, neat.

There are plenty of other ideas for setting up a workshop and placing a tool in it. If there is a desire to innovate an existing place of work, or, finally, to start organizing it, then you can use the examples presented above. The process can also be creative and used to create convenient devices items lying idle for a long time. Indeed, in every garage or shed, you will probably find something that is a pity to throw away, but there is no way to find a use. We will be glad if you share your rationalization proposals on the pages of our portal.

In conclusion - a video in which the master shares his experience of creating a convenient tool storage system in the workshop.

Video: An example of a self-made system for ergonomic tool storage in a workshop.

Hello to all homemade lovers!

As you know, all of us almost constantly have to use open-end wrenches. Literally every day, it happens to be necessary to tighten or unscrew some nut, on some device, both at home and in the garage or in the workshop.

Naturally, in this case, it is very desirable to have a full set of wrenches, well, or at least good set wrenches, for nuts of the most common sizes.

I also have a similar set of keys, bought a few years ago. Moreover, these keys are rather compactly inserted into a plastic holder, which can also be hung on the wall.

I used to have this set on my wall in my workshop. However, practice has shown that with such placement and on such a holder, these keys are not very convenient to use.

First, with this arrangement, the sizes of the keys are not visible. And since they are assembled rather compactly, you often have to make mistakes in choosing a key of the right size.

Secondly, the plastic holder shown in the photo turned out to be very unreliable, since after a year of use it began to gradually deteriorate.

As a result, I decided to make a homemade holder for this set of keys, on which it would be convenient to hang or remove them, and also the sizes of all keys would be clearly visible.

In order to make such a holder, I needed the following accessories:

Materials and fasteners:

A piece of board 2 cm thick, 12 cm wide, and 95 cm long;

Magnetic knife holder;

Two wood screws 4x25 mm;

Two wood screws 4x40 mm;

Screws with a press washer 4x20 mm;

5mm diameter cambric, or similar plastic tubes;

The set of wrenches itself, plus an adjustable wrench.

Tools:

Drawing and measuring tools (pencil, tape measure and square);

Jigsaw with a file for curly cutting;

Electric drill-screwdriver;

Manual plane;

Drill for metal with a diameter of 2.5 mm;

Drill for metal with a diameter of 4 mm;

Spherical milling cutter for wood;

Screwdriver bit PH2, for screwing;

Sandpaper.

Manufacturing process

To begin with, we remove the chamfers with a plane on the front edges of the blank board, and it is even better to round them a little.

Then we mark the board, which will serve as a holder, and drill holes with a diameter of 4 mm at its ends, for screws, with which we will attach the holder to the wall.

We countersink these holes for the screw heads with a spherical cutter for wood.

Now we cut off the ends at the holder board with a jigsaw.

Then we sandpaper and screw the magnetic knife holder to the left side of the board-holder.

For this purpose, I took an old short knife holder that was hanging in our kitchen. But now a new holder has been hung in the kitchen, and this one is just suitable for hanging the four smallest keys.

Immediately behind the magnetic holder, we prick with an awl and drill two blind holes with a 2.5 mm drill.

We drill these holes to a depth of about 10 mm.

The distance between these holes should be equal to the width of the handle of the key that we will hang in this place, plus about 10-14 mm, for large keys (from 20 mm or more), or 7-10 mm, for small keys (less than 20 mm.).

Then we cut off two identical pieces of cambric or plastic tubing, about 6-10 mm long, again the length of these pieces depends on the size, and, in particular, on the thickness of a particular key.

By the way, if you don't have a suitable cambric at hand, or it's just a pity to use it for such purposes, then you can simply use such plastic tubes from bottles of liquid soap.

I just used them. These tubes are well suited to the diameter of the press washer screws.

Cut off pieces of the tube, put on the screws with a press washer.

And we screw these screws into the drilled holes.

And now we have a holder for the largest key ready.

We do the same for all other keys (remembering to measure the width of the handle of each key and choose the distance between the screws according to it), including the adjustable wrench.

And now our holder is almost ready!

And then I decided, for greater clarity and ease of use, to make inscriptions on the holder with the dimensions of each key.

To do this, I printed on the computer, these are the labels.

Then I cut them out and taped them to the top of the holder board.

The only thing, I didn’t bother to make stickers for the three smallest keys on a magnetic holder, because this is both inconvenient and unnecessary, since these keys are the most frequently used ones, and they are very simply different.

And now our holder is finally ready!

Now it remains only to fasten it with screws to the wall, to a permanent place.

And hang up all the keys.

And now our holder is complete with keys!

Here is its general view.

And this is a fragment.

As you can see, all the keys hang quite securely, and it is also easy to remove them, just take the desired key with your hand, slightly lift it up and turn it a little. In this case, the key is immediately in the hand in the working position.

In addition, it turned out that such a screw holder has another advantage. In the event that the key hangs tight enough, or vice versa, it dangles, you can adjust this by simply tightening the screws supporting it and thus achieve the most optimal option.

In general, in my opinion, it turned out to be quite convenient and functional holder... Therefore, I can advise everyone who needs to make a holder for open-end wrenches to use a similar design.

Well, that's all for me!

Bye everyone, useful homemade products and good luck with homemade creativity!

Almost every man has a toolbox in his home or garage. Therefore, it is worth keeping them in perfect order. How best to do this, a new review will tell. Surely everyone can find in it examples of the organization of the storage place that interested him.

The average garage looks pretty cluttered. The competent organization of storage systems will help to solve this problem. Instead of another closet, equip the walls with various shelves and hooks, which will neatly accommodate a variety of things, from tools to huge boats and bicycles.

17. Magnets

Magnetic tape or individual small magnets are a great idea for storing bits for screwdrivers, drills, and other small metal parts.

In continuation of the topic, we will tell you about anywhere.

In many cases, the garage serves universal workshop... Tools for all occasions are stored here: both for car repairs and for repairing home furniture.

This function is greatly expanded if the garage is built with country house or in the country. Here the owner simply has to be of all trades master - lay electrical wiring to the gazebo, sharpen a knife and an ax, repair the lawn mower, fill and lubricate the snow blower, plow a new wooden beam for a leaky support for grapes ...

All these troublesome jobs require various instruments and devicesthat you probably have for a long time.

But how can they be conveniently and efficiently placed?

Zoning garage space

First of all, we will go into the garage with a tape measure, pencil, notepad and a strong desire to finally get rid of the rubbish that it was a pity to throw away for years - what if it ever comes in handy?

The design fundamentals of such industrial and warehouse utility rooms assume their clear functional zoning.

But in the meantime, you have long, without knowing it, distributed the garage into functional areas.

One, at the entrance, stores something you need at hand daily, and gathering dust in the far corner rarely demanded... Small tools are mixed together in a small box, heavy hammers and sledgehammers rusting under the wall on the floor. Somewhere in a bunch there are containers with antifreeze and transmission oil.

We will apply this intuitively correct distribution when designing ordered arrangement of tools.

First, let's estimate and draw

We define the wall, along which we will build racks and shelves for tools. The data on its height and width entered in the notebook will become starting point for the drawing of future storage structures.

Having made a decision on the location of the instruments, we divide, in turn, "Instrumental" zone to clear structures where tools, fixtures and fasteners will be located:

  • for the car (locksmith);
  • for electrical work;
  • for welding works;
  • for carpentry work.

DIY tool shelves in the garage: materials and design

Tool rack design and materialfrom which it will be made will determine the size free space, into which it will have to be "entered", as well as your technical imagination and acquired or completely absent skills of such works.

In any case, it is reasonable to precede your own project by visiting the Internet sites of garage self-builders, where successful projects of garage interiors that have already been implemented are on public display.

But the main factor of choice is your budget, i.e. the amount you are willing to spend in the name of garage comfort.

Convenient and simple shelving

The offered rack for tools is only a concept, a sketch of one of the possible designs, so it makes no sense to indicate the exact dimensions. Size numbers will fill your individual project.

Proceeding from considerations of strength and durability, we will make a solid rack with uneven-height shelves from a steel corner 50x50 mm along the garage wall. We will make shelves from edged boards 4-5 cm thick.

We need a grinder with discs for cutting metal, welding machine, a pair of packs of electrodes, an electric drill, a carpenter's corner, a water level, a joiner's hacksaw, a tape measure, a marker.

The number of supporting racks depends on the length of the rack. The step between them (respectively - the length of the shelves) is determined in 1 m.

Important: We lay the width (depth) of the shelves in such a way that they do not interfere with opening the doors of a car that has entered the garage. If this condition is met, a convenient shelf width will be 40-50 cm.

We mark the corner, cut and weld the rectangular perimeter of the rack from it. According to the drawing, we mark, cut and weld the transverse corners into the perimeter, on which lean wooden shelves... We design them of different heights, based on the dimensions of the tools planned for placement.

Do not forget about the special low section for boxes with fasteners.

Place the first shelf at a height 60-80 cm from floor level garage. In this lower space we will place fuel cans, bulky and heavy objects, spare units.

Racks weld on to reinforcement rods driven into the wall. At the top and in the middle, we weld the racks of the rack with a horizontal jumper from a corner or a steel strip.

Now it's time to grab a hacksaw and cut the boards to size. Before installing board shelves soak with hot linseed oil, in a day we paint.

We hang everything that can be hung

Spanner Sets can be conveniently, clearly and beautifully hung in ascending order on brightly colored boards attached to the wall at the back of the shelves. Above each key can be glued paper sticker with size, large printed on a printer, or write the numbers by hand with an indelible marker directly on the board.

Making the most of vertical surfaces, in the same way we hang hammers, pliers and other tools with a suitable configuration for such placement on the side walls of the rack.
