I used to make fly traps with my own hands from an inverted cone, but somehow I didn't have scotch tape on hand, so I decided to make another trap. To my surprise, it worked just as well, and it's even easier to make.

Fruit flies can be a problem in the kitchen, but getting rid of them is easy.

You just need to follow these steps:

  • Place the bait on the bottom of the container.
  • Cover the container with plastic wrap.
  • Secure the foil with an elastic band.
  • Make holes so insects can get inside the container.

Step 1: Materials

Materials:

  • Container.
  • Film.
  • Elastic.
  • Bait.

Tools:

  • Something spicy.

Step 2: choosing a container

You want a small container that won't tip over accidentally (it will be especially annoying if you pour red wine as bait). I think that ideal option are yogurt cups or the lower halves of plastic bottles.

The good thing about plastic containers is that they are disposable - it's easier to throw out your old trap than to clean flies out of a glass.

Step 3: making the bait

To lure flies, you need to put something tasty in the bottom of the container. It is best to put the food they like the most. Usually they are attracted to red wine, banana or banana peel, orange juice. The good thing about liquid bait is that flies drown in it and do not have time to lay eggs.

I also learned that it attracts flies well apple vinegarand a little dishwashing detergent will speed up the death of trapped insects.

Note: Be careful with dish soap. I added an apple scent and it scared all the flies. I had to make another trap, this time without dishwashing liquid, and it worked as it should.

Step 4: cover the flytrap with foil and fix it

Cover the container with plastic wrap and secure with an elastic band.

Step 5: making holes

Punch 1-4 holes in the film. The holes should be slightly larger than the flies - say 2 mm. The tighter the film is stretched, the easier it is to pierce it.

Step 6: remove other breeding sites

In order for all insects to fall into the trap, they should not have any other attractive places in the house - the garbage must be thrown out, all fruits must be put in the refrigerator. You will only need to monitor this for the first couple of days. The more carefully you monitor the cleanliness, the sooner you will get rid of fruit flies.

In summer, when fruit is plentiful, I only try to prevent flies from appearing and just set the trap ahead of time.

Step 7: freeze

Fruit flies reproduce at a tremendous speed, and if you want them to die in a trap, and not multiply in it, then you need to periodically destroy these flies. It seems to me, the best option - Place a homemade fly trap in the freezer overnight.

Summer is the favorite time of the year for most people in our country. But there are also some unpleasant moments that appear with the arrival of warm days. And one of these moments is the invasion of flies and mosquitoes. They buzz unpleasantly and carry various diseases.

How to get rid of these harmful insects? Available from the store chemical agent... But there is plenty of chemistry in our life. There may be allergies to various aerosols, especially in children. Therefore, many people prefer homemade devices.

The main types of homemade traps

Bait. The principle of the bait is to lure the fly into an enclosed space from which it cannot escape.

Poison traps are similar in design to conventional baits, but their purpose is to kill insects, not just bait.

Electric shockers and electric shocks. Shockers kill insects with an electric shock. The nets attract flies with bright light, and then they are dragged into the trap by an impromptu fan.

Let's take a closer look at how you can make the most common fly traps with your own hands.

Plastic bottle

This is the easiest fly trap to perform. It is necessary to cut off the upper part, and pour a couple of glasses of water with honey diluted in it into the lower part. Mix well.

Can be applied alternative option bait - liquid jam, compote or beer. Turn the upper part of the bottle upside down and place it in the lower one.

The neck should be several centimeters above the water level. This design will not allow the pest to get out.

Glass jar with funnel

We take a medium-sized jar and place the bait inside (the options from the first example will do). We install a funnel on the neck of the can. You can start operating.

Both of these traps can be turned into poisonous by adding insecticide to the liquid bait.

Plastic container

This version of the trap with your own hands is suitable for fruit flies (another name is fruit fly), because they are small and, accordingly, can easily crawl into small holes.

We put the favorite fruit fly delicacy - spoiled fruit - into the container. Cover cling filmso that it fits snugly to the edges, and we make several holes in it.

You can use a glass instead of a container. In principle, any trap will be effective for fruit flies as long as spoiled fruit is used as bait.

Trap for giving

If you are not lazy and spend a couple of hours of time, you can create it yourself effective trap for flies, which was used by European colonizers when they moved to Australia. She is different large size and high efficiency.

To make an Australian fly trap, we need wooden blocks, fine mesh metal grid, small studs or construction stapler, thin wire.

We make a cube-shaped frame from the slats. If you have an unnecessary square base stool, simply remove the seat from it and the base for the trap is ready. We tighten the side walls of the frame with a mesh and fix it with a stapler.

Above you need to build a lid from the net so that it is convenient to get the catch. Next, we make a pyramid from the mesh. Cut out four isosceles triangles (the base of the triangle is equal to the length of one side of the cube). We connect the sides of the triangles with a wire.

Cut off the top of the pyramid to form an "entrance" for flies. We fasten it along the perimeter of the bottom with a cone inward. Such a trap will be especially effective in the country where there are a lot of insects. You need to put a fragrant bait under it and wait.

The fly flies to the bait, and after eating, it tries to take off and gets inside. The fly does not know to fly out through a small hole. Her fate is sealed.

Velcro trap

To create such a trap, we need thick paper, liquid rosin, sweet liquid and castor oil. Cut the paper into strips of suitable width and length. We mix all the ingredients, heat up and apply the composition to paper.

If necessary, make a loop of thick thread. The Velcro is ready. Instead of this composition, you can use commercial insect and rodent glue.

Another option for Velcro is an adhesive-backed CD. It is necessary to tie a loop to the disk, apply jam or honey to the surface and put in the freezer to make the composition more viscous.

Ultraviolet Flashlight Trap

You can make the Velcro more complex. To make it, you will need any unnecessary can, for example, a can.

We glue the outer surface with electrical tape, and then remove it so that a sticky layer remains on the surface. We attach a flashlight inside. Insects attracted by the light will stick to the jar. The option is suitable for small individuals.

Stun gun

We need a high-voltage module, an energy-saving light bulb (preferably a spiral shape), a battery, a switch, electrical tape, glue. We disassemble the light bulb into its components. We get the cap and flask. We don't need a plinth.

AT plastic cover cut a hole into which we pass the switch. We pass the module itself into the lid and solder it to the switch, the switch to the battery. We attach the module to the lid with hot melt glue.

The battery can be secured with electrical tape. Drill two holes in the cone, into which we pass a piece of aluminum wire. We wrap each one around the bulb so that they do not touch. We cut off the excess.

At the base of the bulb from the inside, we see two wires. We connect one of them to the end of the aluminum wire. Inside the bulb there are two free contacts: the second end of the wire and the "native" wiring from the light bulb.

We connect the high-voltage module to these contacts. We put the lid on the cone. The shocker is ready. It needs to be hung in a place where insects accumulate.

Electric jump

Necessary elements for creating an electric pump: a small motor (10-20 W), a light bulb, two cans of different diameters, a battery, a round flat plate, an aluminum plate (2 x 10 cm), two metal strips, clips (screws, screws, epoxy glue , rubber ring), nylon bag.

We cut out the blades from the aluminum plate and bend them, as for a fan. We make a hole in the center, put the blades on the motor shaft. We fix it with glue.

We fasten the bulb holder with screws to the board. We connect the cartridge with the motor starter. We place the structure in a jar of a smaller diameter and fasten it with screws so that the blades are a couple of centimeters below the edge of the jar. Cover the base of the cartridge with a second can.

We put a nylon bag on the bottom of the device and fix it with an elastic band. We connect the battery. Done. Of course, electric fly traps are more difficult to implement, but their effectiveness is quite high.

You can give preference to one of the types, or you can apply several different homemade traps... An integrated approach will be more effective. However, when using any insect repellent, do not forget to be clean and remove food from the table on time.

Photo of traps for flies with your own hands

Having noticed the flies, you should not immediately try to destroy them; it is better to follow the insects to find a problem spot in the house. Midges love wet, dirty places, and you need to carefully inspect possible problem areas in your home:

  1. In the kitchen, it is worth inspecting the cabinets with stocks of cereals, homemade preparations, perhaps something has deteriorated, and this is where Drosophila started. Forgotten food waste, rotten fruits or vegetables attract gnats and they multiply rapidly.
  2. Pay attention to plumbing, sewer drains, vents.
  3. In living rooms, flies are most often chosen for living in aquariums with stagnant water, cages that contain pets.
  4. Ground flies affect indoor flowers, you just have to overdo it with watering. Rotten particles form in the soil, and midges instantly settle here, affecting the roots of the plant.

Before taking drastic measures to combat domestic insects, it is necessary to clean the house to prevent further breeding of midges. It is necessary to remove all perishable food in the refrigerator, check the cabinets, rinse the shelves with soapy water, treat the water supply and sewage with special means.

Especially you should take care of pets, aquarium with fish, and also check indoor flowers.

Advice: having found earthen midges, the plants are carefully examined, the damaged and rotten parts are cut off and the flower is transplanted into fresh soil.

A gnat trap will get rid of insects in the house

The prospect of using insecticides to kill insects in the home attracts few. Although these drugs are of low toxicity, if there are small children, animals with allergic diseases in the house, then it is better to refuse to use them. Safe methods are worth trying, and the midge trap works quite well.

Advice: You can buy commercial traps, for example, "Raptor" with a liquid-bait that attracts insects, they get to the area covered with a sticky substance, where they die.

Often there is no opportunity to purchase a ready-made device, then it is better to make a trap for midges with your own hands, which will help get rid of uninvited guests... Available home remedies can be used to make it.

Here are five ways to make simple fixtures yourself:

There are a huge number of various fly traps from domestic, imported manufacturers. They differ in the principle of operation, design, efficiency, price. You can easily make a fly trap with your own hands from improvised means or with minimal financial costs.

Types of traps, principle of operation

Fly traps do not harm human health, are environmentally friendly, and are not inferior in efficiency to purchased drugs. The devices are easy to use, sold throughout the warmer months throughout the affordable price... There are tons of tips on the internet for making homemade traps effortlessly.

Popular types of traps are:

  • insecticidal fly exterminator;
  • ultraviolet destroyer;
  • electronic fly swatter;
  • window fly trap;
  • bait trap.

In the process of selecting a trap, it is imperative to take into account the radius of influence, the area of \u200b\u200bthe room in which the device will be used.

  • Ultraviolet fly exterminators are lured with ultraviolet light. Flying up to the device, the insect receives a discharge of current from the grid behind which the lamps are located. When flies die, they accumulate in a pull-out tray that is easy to clean.
  • A fly trap is made on the basis of a container with a bait inside. Does not consist of poisons, others harmful substances... Once trapped, the fly cannot get out. Some types of traps are supported by the thermal effect or emit carbon dioxide, mimicking human breathing. This is how pests are attracted.
  • The electric swatter is a subspecies of fly killers. The principle of operation is identical. Due to the glow, it attracts insects to itself, after which it kills them with a current discharge. The device is safe for people to use.
  • Window fly traps are made to fit. A sticky compound is applied to both sides of the trap. One side of the trap is attached to the window, the other duct tape attracts flies to itself. It is recommended for the best effect to cling to windows from the sunny side of the house. Change as insects stick. The manufacturer indicates that such a device is enough for six months.

On a note!

The principle of operation of absolutely all traps is to attract insects. The destruction process itself is different. They attract flies with warmth, smells, light. Based on the mechanism of action of purchased devices, structures, you can make them yourself.

They are conventionally divided into two types - baits, Velcro. You need to put a favorite treat of flies inside the baits. They use jam, rotten fruits, vegetables, honey. It is better not to use fish, meat because it quickly begins to emit a fetid odor. For flies such aromas are a joy, but it is impossible for a person to be near such bait.

You can show ingenuity, come up with your own effective design.

Electric fly trap at home

In most cases, the device is bought, but you can make it yourself.

You will need:

  • housekeeper light;
  • high-voltage module;
  • insulating tape;
  • hot glue;
  • finger battery.

Manufacturing process:

  1. Disassemble the light bulb so that there is a plastic case, a bulb with tubes that are attached to the case.
  2. Make a through hole in the plastic, take an aluminum wire, thread it through one of the holes.
  3. Wrap the wire around the light bulb, remove all unnecessary. Do the same with the second hole.
  4. There are 2 wires inside the base. Wrap one on the tip of the wire and bend, there will be 2 contacts.
  5. Connect the high-voltage module to the finger-type battery through the switch.
  6. Make holes, insert the switch, the module into the case.
  7. It is necessary to solder the wiring, wrap the soldered module wires to the battery with electrical tape, and glue the module to the base with hot glue.
  8. Insert a light bulb into the base so that the contacts touch the contacts of the module, screw in and turn on the device.

On a note!

Flying into the light of an electric trap, pests upon contact with it will be struck by a current discharge. The method is very effective, but also dangerous. Not recommended for use near small children, pets. There is one drawback - as soon as the battery runs out, the device needs to be redone. Not everyone will want to mess around with preparing a complex structure. Most people prefer to buy a ready-made appliance.

Popular commercial fly traps

When choosing effective means pay attention to the following products:

  • Destroyer Pomel DUO LT-60 (Poland). A trap that uses removable sticky paper cartridges instead of an electrical discharge. By emitting ultraviolet light, it attracts insects, which, when ingested, stick to paper. Due to the absence of a spark, this destroyer can be used on explosive objects. It receives power from a 220 V network. In the middle there are 4 lamps of 15 W each, 2 replaceable sticky paper cartridges. Dimensions of the device 350x470x120 mm. The price is about 2000 rubles.
  • Light trap Economy 14 w (Poland). Effectively fights flies, mosquitoes. Inside is an adhesive paper cartridge. Insects, flying into the light, fall into the trap, immediately sticking to the trap. Ideal for children's rooms, bedrooms, kitchens. Range of action up to 40 sq. m. Powered by an outlet. The parameters of the device are 65x280x330 mm. The cost is about 2500 rubles.
  • Destroyer N'oveen IKN-36 IPX4 (Poland). The principle of operation is the same as that of other exterminators. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use. It is waterproof, so destruction takes place even in rainy weather. For the best effect, you need to hang it away from other light sources at a height of up to 2 m. The range is up to 120 sq. m.Dimensions 510х135х310 mm. The price is about 3000 rubles.
  • Vaco window trap (Poland). Fastened to the window with the adhesive side. Insects are attracted by the pheromones that come from this trap, and when sitting on it, they stick tightly. Change as the tape sticks to flies. Valid for up to 6 months. The price is about 50 rubles.

What traps to use indoors: purchased or homemade - an individual solution. It is necessary to focus on efficiency, safety, ease of use. The electric fly trap is more powerful, but also the most expensive for the price.

Flies are the most common and annoying insects that live side by side with humans. Getting rid of them sometimes becomes a real problem, while often you cannot do without special means, one of which is a fly trap. Of course, you can buy it, but it's easy to do it yourself.

Should you fight flies and why

These insects not only annoy with their buzzing - their neighborhood is much more dangerous than it might seem. Flies are carriers of pathogens of various diseases - intestinal infections, eye diseases, tuberculosis. Also, on their paws, they often carry eggs of worms onto the food they sit on. That is why the fight against them in the premises is an important task for ensuring sanitation and maintaining human health.

The main types of traps, their effectiveness, advantages and disadvantages

One of the most versatile means of exterminating unwanted neighbors is a fly trap. With your own hand, you can make many options for its execution from scrap materials.

The simplest one is from a plastic bottle with a sweet bait (it also helps against wasps)

Plastic bottle trap

Ease of manufacture is its main advantage. This requires one empty plastic bottle volume of 1.5-2 liters.

In order to make a trap, you must:

The disadvantage of this flycatcher is that a small part of the insects can leave the trap; you also need to constantly change the bait with the flies caught. Fermented bait can smell unpleasant.

Glass jar option

The principle of catching a flycatcher from glass jars the same as in the bottle version.

It is made as follows:

  1. Put fruit in a jar with a volume of 0.5 to 3 liters or pour a sugar-containing liquid.
  2. Insert the narrow end of the funnel for pouring the liquid into the neck of the jar and secure it with tape.
  3. Place a trap where you want to catch insects.

The effectiveness of this flycatcher is comparable to a bottle trap. It is periodically necessary to change the bait and remove the caught insects.

Analog from any container and cling film

For the manufacture of this flycatcher, a plastic container of any shape is used - round or square. The trap is done as follows:

The principle of the trap is the same as the previous ones. Some flies can escape the trap, and its effectiveness will depend on how attractive the bait is to the insects.

Homemade sticky tape

The advantage of this trap is that the flies do not need to get inside. closed space, which scares some insects, so its effectiveness is higher than that of the previous options presented. You can do it yourself as follows:

  1. Mix 2 parts pine resin with 1 part linseed oil and a little sugar syrup.
  2. Cut strips 3–4 cm wide from plastic wrap.
  3. Apply the prepared adhesive mixture with a brush to the tapes.
  4. Hang up traps in a room where you want to kill insects.

One of the disadvantages of adhesive tapes is their low aesthetics.

"Folk" insect repellents - plastic bags with water

A simple, albeit somewhat controversial, fly protection solution. In order to make such a repeller, you need the following:

The inventor claims that this device can be compared in efficiency with mosquito nets, but this is a rather controversial issue.

CD Velcro pendant

To make this trap, you need the following:

The disadvantage of this flycatcher is that it is periodically necessary to clean the disk from flies, lubricate it with an adhesive base and send it to the freezer.

How to make an electric fly trap

To make this category of traps, you need to have electrical skills. In addition, you need to have a list necessary materials, which will not be in every home.

Electric jump: instructions for making

The principle of operation of this electric trap is based on the belief that flies will fly towards the light of the lamp, however, even professional flycatchers using lamps to lure them are more effective against mosquitoes, while flies, according to users, often bypass the trap.

To make this flycatcher, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • Pliers;
  • Screwdriver;
  • Scissors for metal;
  • Small electric motor from the turntable;
  • Regular light bulb with a socket;
  • Couple cans with different diameters;
  • Aluminum or tin strip 20x100 mm in size;
  • 2 plastic washers;
  • Epoxy resin with thickener;
  • Metal stripes;
  • Screws and bolts M4;
  • Round base made of wood;
  • Nylon stocking;
  • Rubber ring;
  • Power source - a pair of AA batteries.
As you can see, this device is not the latest invention, but also Soviet

You need to make a trap as follows:

The disadvantage of this trap is the complexity of its manufacture and low efficiency for catching flies in comparison with other traps.

Flycatcher-electroshock

To lure insects, this flycatcher also uses lamp light, which in practice is far from always effective against flies. To do it, you will need the following materials:

  • Housekeeper light;
  • Ordinary penlight battery or "Krona".
  • High voltage module.
  • Aluminum wire.

Electric shock is made as follows:

  1. Disassemble the housekeeper light and drill two holes opposite each other on the sides of the plastic base.
  2. Insert aluminum wire into each hole and wrap the body with it.
  3. Connect one of the wires that come out of the neon lamp with the end of the wire.
  4. Connect the remaining two contacts of the neon lamp to the high-voltage module.
  5. Connect the high-voltage module to the batteries via a push-button.
  6. Fix the module and batteries to the lamp housing with electrical tape.
  7. Switch on the device - insects attracted by the light when touched aluminum wire will be amazed electric shock.

The disadvantage of this trap is that it is also unsafe for humans in case of inadvertently touching a bare wire; it also has a low efficiency compared to traps in which sugar-containing substances or pheromones are used as bait.

Plants that eat for flies

Predatory plants are quite an exotic way of catching flies, but they are still able to help get rid of several annoying insects. Most often in indoor conditions the following species are grown:

Industrial traps for rooms and gardens

There are also industrial versions of fly traps.

  • Aeroxon. Glue trap, the bait of which contains environmentally friendly ingredients.
  • DELUX AKL-31. A trap whose principle is based on attracting insects with ultraviolet light. Flies flying up to it are electrocuted. Although the manufacturer positions it as a universal device against mosquitoes, mosquitoes and flies, the latter rarely become trophies of this trap.
  • FC001. A mechanical trap, inside which it is necessary to insert a tablet with an attracting substance, which contains synthesized (Z) -9-Tricosin, a pheromone secreted by flies to attract individuals of the opposite sex during mating. The action of the tablet is very long - 2-3 tablets may be enough for one season.

Professional traps vary in cost and outperform homemade traps in convenience and efficiency.

The prettiest option is the Australian bollard trap

This trap can be used outdoors - for example, near a dining table under a canopy in the country, since its catching ability is quite high, and maintenance actions are extremely rare.

Outwardly, the flycatcher looks like a bedside table from timber frame with small legs, covered with a fine mesh on all sides, under the bottom of which a saucer with a sugar-containing liquid is placed. The secret of catching flies lies in the pyramidal shape of the mesh bottom of the trap, in which there is a hole. As a rule, when they are full, the flies fly up, not paying attention to the transparent mesh... As a result, insects enter the flytrap through a hole in the bottom.

The following materials are required for manufacturing:

The flycatcher manufacturing process is as follows:

  1. Assemble the frame from wooden planks so that the entire structure stands on legs about 5 cm high, attach the upper part to the awnings and equip it with a crochet.
  2. Cover all sides except the bottom with a metal mesh.
  3. Make a pyramidal bottom of the trap from the mesh by connecting the seams of the mesh with metal screws; you can also use staples for a furniture stapler for this.
  4. Cut a hole 2 cm in diameter at the top of the pyramidal bottom so that flies can enter the trap through it.
  5. Coat all joints between the mesh and the wooden planks with sealant.
  6. Place the trap in the required place, after placing a saucer with a luring liquid - sugar syrup or jam under it. Commercial fly attractants can also be used.

The advantages of this flycatcher are that it is rather rare maintenance, since sometimes it is only necessary to free the flies from the trap, and also to replace the luring liquid in the saucer.

Prevention of flies in the house

In order for flies not to annoy, you must constantly adhere to preventive measures to prevent their appearance:

By taking these preventive measures, you can significantly reduce the number of annoying insects. It is also recommended to set up traps even in areas where the number of insects is low.
