Beautiful ceramic tiles are worth a fortune. Therefore, on our kitchen aprons, these wonderful pieces with patterns are inserted in places, as a highlight of the composition.

Today we will give you a tool that will save you from half measures. You can make yourself a beautiful volumetric tile based on a simple tile. And the range of its application is wide: you can lay out an apron, make an accent wall in a room or a frame for a mirror, decorate the surface kitchen table and risers on the stairs.

We need:

1. The tile is tiled, preferably plain and matte. Size 10 x 10. Sold by the piece in specialized stores. The price for one piece is 10 rubles. By the way, sometimes in hardware stores you can run into discounted tiles for 1-3 rubles apiece. Ask sellers.

2. Putty for wood. She has a different composition and color. I like the Lakra firm: the putty does not shrink, dries quickly, and adheres well to tiles. Sold in trays with a volume of 600 grams, costs about 70 rubles, will last for a long time

3. Stencil with a pattern. I have a stencil just for a 10 x 10 tile. It's thin. But durable, it can be washed. Price - 50 rubles in handicraft stores. Remember that the thinner the pattern, the easier it will be to create a three-dimensional pattern.

4. Cellophane bag.

5. Rubber spatulas... Usually sold in sets of three, the price is from 30 to 50 rubles per set.

6. Brushes. Small, flat, better soft, synthetic. Now inexpensive ones can be taken from FixPrice - 30-50 rubles. Or buy a children's set of brushes from IKEA - it contains six pieces of different-sized brushes. The price is 250 rubles.

7. Paints. Any color, but if you want a contrasting combination, it is better to take a bright color.

8. Water-based varnish. If you plan to use the tile in a kitchen apron, where it will come into contact with water, then by all means buy a moisture resistant varnish. It is more profitable to take in a hardware store than in a handicraft store. Price from 500 rubles for half a liter of varnish.

Monogram

Step 1. Apply a thin layer of putty. To make it even over the entire surface, it is better to take the widest spatula for this. Let it dry naturally, without a hair dryer.

Step 2. Apply a stencil. We collect putties and coat the pattern, as shown in the picture. The main thing is not to press hard, otherwise the drawing will creep. Try to do this in three or four movements: the less we wiggle, the more accurate the pattern will be.

Step 3. Without waiting for the putty to dry, carefully remove the stencil. Let the pattern harden.

Step 4. Coloring the tiles. There are a lot of options, it all depends on your imagination. I will show you a simple but effective way - selection of the pattern using the technique "dry brush". We dip the brush in paint (I have a blue one) and remove the excess with a napkin. Important: there should be very little paint, otherwise it will leak under the pattern. Have you penetrated? And now we sweep with a brush on the texture with frequent and quick movements. You will see how the pattern stands out in blue against a white background.

Step 5. We cover with varnish. The tile is ready.

Abstraction

Step 1. Apply a thicker putty to the tiles.

Step 2. While the mixture is not dry, put a cellophane bag on it. Smooth without pressure, let the film adhere. Now we remove the package. Done!

Step 3. It is necessary to paint the abstraction only after it dries and hardens. Then experiment. You can again try the "dry brush", which will accentuate the broken texture of the tiles. You can run streams of liquid paint over it, let the pigment flow fancifully.

Step 4. To make a beautiful work live for a long time, we cover it with varnish.

Create with pleasure!

A stencil is a great way to decorate your home with unique tiles. Patterned ceramic tiles are quite expensive. Moreover, if you want uniqueness, if you want a tile that is not like everyone else's, then there are even more difficulties - it will be even more expensive in single pieces to order.

But with a stencil, you have a great opportunity to turn an ordinary plain tile into a tile with a unique design. At the same time, you will not spend a lot of money and will have an exciting time. How to do this - we tell and show in this manual.

Begin. We prepare everything you need. Not much is necessary. We need:

Cooking tiles and stencils. The tile must be wiped from dust and dirt, even invisible. To do this, it is enough to wipe it with alcohol (vodka) or wash it under the tap with detergent for dishes. Then wipe dry.

While the tile is drying, take the stencil and cover its back with aerosol glue. In principle, you can do without it - then the stencil turn must be moistened with water. However, aerosol glue is more convenient, simpler and more reliable.

We apply a stencil and start drawing. What color to start with is up to you. We started with a darker one. The considerations were as follows - if the next color creeps into the first, then on a dark light it will be less noticeable than vice versa.

Calling attention - The brush should be held perpendicular to the surface and paint should be applied with dotted movements! This is not a hard rule, but if you carry it over the surface, the risk of ink flowing under the edge of the stencil will increase significantly. Also, make sure that there is a little paint on the brush so that it does not flow.

We paint with the second color. Since it is similar in tonality to the first one (we got it by mixing paints), you can not be afraid to accidentally step over the line and get to the first color. No one will ever notice this. Moreover, often such "offenses" even add expressiveness to the drawing.

This is how our unfinished tile will look like. It seems that nothing will save her. However, this is only an illusion, see for yourself!

We change the instrument. Paint different colors can be of different consistency. If it suddenly turns out that it is too liquid, then you can change the brush to a sponge. We did it with blue. A special foam "brush" was at hand. However, you can just as well cut off a piece of dish sponge and paint with it. We draw with "blotting" divisions.

In fact, changing the "tool" gives another, very useful and necessary, side effect... If the brush puts paint with the effect of stripes, streaks, then the sponge creates a completely different pattern on the surface - a uniformly rough coating. In our case, all this is very beneficial - the leaves are veined, the berries are even.

A typical mistake. Upon closer examination, it turned out that the leaf we drew first was defective. The reason for this is the too liquid paint that we used at the beginning. Unfortunately, we neglected our own advice to try a brush on paper and, having dipped it in paint, immediately began to paint. For which they paid - the paint on the brush turned out to be too much and it sank under the edge. We drew all other parts of the drawing taking into account the initial oversight. But the first sheet came out - with a smudge.

We fix the defect. On the advice of one of our clients (a stupid word, but how else?), We tried a new trick - removing smudges with the back end of a match. This should be done without otkrladovaya - in an hour the paint will be nothing at all!

So - we want to say Svetlana Ponomareva from Moscow Many thanks - removing smudges with a match is just perfect. And the surface is not scratched, and the paint is removed like a pencil with a good eraser, and the accuracy is high and easy to achieve.

We clean the tile from the glue. For the sake of justice, we want to warn you: our so beloved aerosol glue leaves marks on glass and tiles. They are almost invisible, and are only distinguishable by touch. Not on any other surface, but microscopic goosebumps remain on the smooth glossy surface. They must be removed. We do this with the help of ZIPPO gasoline for lighters - it is clean, so it smells less and leaves no traces behind.

We saturate the rag with gasoline and wipe the film with light pressure. We did this a few hours after the final touch of paint, so it had time to dry well. If you do not rub with all your might, then the paint GAMMA for ceramics cannot be washed off the tiles with gasoline - it holds very well. We check the quality of work by looking at the tile surface at an angle. In reflected light, "goose bumps" are clearly visible, and the washed surface sparkles.

Finishing touch. Paint manufacturer's recommendations - bake the result in the oven 24 hours after painting. It's very simple, turn on the stove 150 degrees oven, put the tiles there, let stand for 15 minutes and let cool without REMOVING from the oven. When we turn on the light in the kitchen, you will see how it happened.

However, we want to note - we conducted a cruel test, took a rag with gasoline, gave it to one of the men of our team and he began to erase the drawing with an effort ... We did not notice any visible changes! Although a colored stain appeared on the rag (which told us that after two hours of hard work, the drawing could suffer), there was no visible damage to the drawing. From this we made a very important conclusion:

GAMMA paint adheres well to tiles even without fixing in the oven. It will withstand washing with water and a sponge, moreover, multiple times, even without additional processing of the pattern with temperature.

In practice, this means: a pattern can be used to decorate not only new tiles that have not yet been laid on the wall! You can just as well give a unique look to tiles that have long been glued to the wall. Imagine - without unnecessary fuss, without noise, without REPAIR, your kitchen can be given an exclusive, unique look!

A stencil is a great way to turn ceramic tiles into a work of art. If you happen to be in stores building materialsthen you probably know that patterned pottery costs a lot of money. But decorating the walls of a kitchen or bathroom with unique drawings is not at all difficult ...
What is needed for this?

1. Naturally, plain tiles (or take a tile, by the way) and stencils, which can be purchased at any hardware store or in supermarkets like "Everything for repair".

2. Acrylic paints, which are designed for drawing on ceramic tiles.

3. Special aerosol adhesive. Its use is not necessary, however, it is he who allows you to better fix the stencil on the tile.

4. Stencil brushes, sponges, as well as a can of water, in which brushes are stored during work in order to avoid drying the paint.

Before applying a pattern to a tile, it must be prepared in a certain way. If we are talking about tiles or tiles: it will be enough to wipe it with a degreasing solution or rinse it under water using a dishwashing detergent.

After washing, the tiles must be left to dry. While waiting, you can attend to the preparation of the stencil, which is covered with aerosol glue on the back side - this will allow you not to worry about the stencil "peeling off" during the work.

When the tile is completely dry, the stencil is applied to its outer side: you can start drawing. You can choose the color from which the whole process will begin on your own, but it is better if the first color is darker than the next one, then there will be no problems with the brightness of the picture later.

Remember that when painting on tiles, the brush should be held in a perpendicular position, and the paint itself should be applied in dotted movements. It is important to follow this rule because otherwise the paint during drawing may "leak" under the stencil, which will make your drawing less clear. It is also necessary to avoid that there is too much paint on the brushes, otherwise it will flow.

In the process of painting, it is not necessary to use only brushes. After you finish working on one color or part of the drawing, you can use a sponge for a different tone. The sponge allows you to paint with blotting movements, which will make it possible to create various effects.

If the paint often falls under the brush in stripes or dots, then using a sponge you can create a certain embossing. Then the veins and dots in your drawing will be blended with the roughness that the sponge will create as you paint.

After the drawing is completely completed, you can remove the stencil. If the paint that you used to paint is of sufficient quality, then you will not have to wait long for it to dry completely. The result will surely exceed all your expectations: an exclusive tile pattern is a godsend for renovation!

After the paint is completely dry, the ceramic tiles can be safely washed. By the way, even solvents are not able to harm acrylic paints. But if you want the drawing to last as long as possible, you can additionally heat the tile in the oven. Just make sure that the instructions for the paint indicate the possibility of such heating.

If old cladding became ugly, but you just can't wash it - paint for ceramic tiles can help update coverage without complete replacement... In addition, such methods are sometimes used by designers for painting and creating a unique pattern on the tiles.

There are several ways to paint a tile:

  • Paint for tiles and glass (stained glass). It can be applied directly to smooth surfaces without preparation. Typically, the outline is applied first and then the acrylic background paint. Due to the high price, it makes sense to use it only as a decorative effect. As alternative option you can use vinyl stickers.
  • Epoxy paint. It is more difficult to find on the market and more expensive.
  • Latex or oil paint... It is necessary to first apply a special primer, for example, Tikkurila Otex.

Preparatory work

Before painting the cladding, remove the remains of cement glue and excess grout from the surface with abrasive materials. The fallen off tiles are glued with cement glue or liquid nails and left to dry completely. If they have been lost, you can replace them with tiles of a different color. Chipped tiles should also be replaced.

We glue the old tiles in place and rub the seams

The surface is degreased with acetone, alcohol or solvent.

Apply Tikkurila Otex primer with a short nap roller and leave it to dry for 12 hours. She has white color, so it will partially help to hide the old texture color.

Primer Tikkurila Otex

Painting

Tile paint is applied in several layers to completely hide the old pattern and get an even color. A new layer should be applied only after the old one has completely dried.

Apply the first coat over a white primer

If you want to get not a monochromatic surface, but to divide it into several parts or diversify with an ornament, use masking tape to get even lines of the conceived pattern.

Ornament masking tape is glued only after the base coat of paint has been applied. The easiest way is to make a geometric pattern out of it.

After the paint has dried, the masking tape can be removed.

The video shows the result of painting an apron with oil enamel in the kitchen with a white and red ornament:

The seams can be additionally painted with a special tile marker (Edding 8200, PUFAS FRISCHE FUGE paint).

Using stencils

A stunning effect can be achieved if you use ready-made stencils. The photo below shows an example of an apron decor made of white tiles with paint.

Conclusion

After painting, you should not expect to get a cool result for a long time, because together with a layer of paint, the tile will lose many of its important properties. The decorative layer will no longer be protected by the glaze. It will be more difficult to wash, fungus and mold can form on it, the seams will have the same color, over time the paint will begin to peel off. I would not recommend that you do such a tile repair in the bathroom without much need, it will be safer to replace the cladding.

How best to make wall decor in the kitchen - this question is asked by many. Of course, it's good if there is money for expensive redecoration in the kitchen, but now not everyone has this opportunity.

What to do if you want to decorate a wall or an apron without spending a lot on decoration? Decorating the walls of the kitchen - here stencils and templates will come to our aid, which you can buy or do yourself. You can find templates in this article. We will also talk about vinyl stickers and apron tiles. In short, we need a simple, inexpensive, but decent wall decor.

Ceramic tiles are a great finishing option. Decorative tiles are used to decorate both part of the walls and aprons in the kitchen. Kitchen tiles are convenient because they are easy to clean, durable and require little maintenance.

Ceramic tiles above the table, in the dining area, that is, between the worktop and wall cabinets, are an important part of the kitchen. Now such a variety of tiles for decoration is being sold: plain, with drawings, with ornaments, of any size and shape. It is not difficult to choose ceramic tiles for an apron or wall in the kitchen.

It is better to buy large tiles - there will be fewer grout joints, which may change color over time. The stores sell mainly imported ceramics, but you can find good domestic ones. The most important thing is to properly prepare the wall for working with tiles.

Wall decor in the kitchen can be made using special glass (skinned). This surface is made of toughened safety glass. Photo printing is applied to the glass. A plus in the use of skinal decor - no seams, flat surface.

Usually, such glass is used to decorate the wall in the kitchen, more often a kitchen apron. It should be borne in mind that the largest width of one panel is 2.8-3 meters. If the kitchen is large, then one panel will not be enough, and you will have to dock 2 pieces. Also consider that the skins are attached with metal parts (fasteners), which can be noticeable.

A mosaic is a small tile. It can be ceramic (the most widely used), glass, ceramic-gravel and metal. All types of mosaics are quite interesting, and each has its own characteristics.

Mosaic - decor is expensive compared to conventional tiles and glass. What is a mosaic for a kitchen?

- it happens not only in the form of small squares or rectangles, but also in the form of larger fragments, they are mounted faster. The sizes of ceramics are different: it can be 10/10 cm and 30/30 cm.

- small tiles made of glass. All glass tiles are glued to the base, making decorating work easier. Glass expands the kitchen space and gives a wall fragment or apron a festive look. Glass mosaic on the wall is made of white quartz, mother-of-pearl and pigments are added for shine and color. The main advantage is the resistance of decorative glass mosaic to fire.

Porcelain stoneware mosaic on the wall is a slab cut into small pieces. It looks like a stone one.

- this is an elite decor option. The mosaic is cut from stones and minerals. The disadvantage of this finish is the high cost. Also susceptible to surface stains - beet or coffee stains can leave a permanent mark. To prevent stains from remaining on the surface, the stone is covered with acrylic varnish on top.

Metal - these are ceramic fragments on which metal plates are put on, mainly stainless steel. Metallic ceramics are easily soiled, all stains and smudges will be visible on it. Another major disadvantage is expensive decor.

This is a very simple and affordable do-it-yourself kitchen wall decor. Decals can be selected to match with kitchen set, complement the already finished interior.

In addition, vinyl stickers are maintenance-free, easy to clean and can be washed off with a regular brush or sponge. There are two types of stickers: mirror and matte. Matte is the most common, mirror is less common. Stickers are also used in cases where you need to hide ugly places on the wall or on a kitchen set.

You can make kitchen stickers yourself - for this you need to buy a self-adhesive film in a hardware store, it is sold in different colors and different patterns. You print a drawing or draw by hand on the back of the film, then cut along the outline, remove a thin layer of tissue paper, and you can glue the figure or flowers. If you want, you can get a whole composition.

The easiest way to decorate walls is with wall stencils. Stencils for kitchen decor help outline the contours, and, if desired, decorate the walls or an apron.

Using one stencil made of cardboard or PVC film (a thick kitchen napkin or folder for papers is well suited for making a stencil), you can decorate the entire kitchen wall.

Stencils and templates are different:

  • Monochromatic pattern - one paint color.
  • Multicolor template - from several colors. To do this kind of work, you need experience and a certain skill.
  • Volume template - applied with putty. The drawing turns out to be convex, voluminous.
  • Back - paint is applied not inside the template, but on the contrary - outside. An interesting highlight-like effect is created.

If you have chosen a template with very small details, it is better to put this idea aside. Small parts very difficult to paint over, the drawing will look sloppy, no matter how hard you try.

You can buy a stencil, they are in hardware stores, or you can make it yourself. What is needed for this?

  1. Selected drawing.
  2. Cardboard, pVC film, plastic - for the stencil itself.
  3. Pencil.
  4. Stationery knife.
  5. Scotch.
  6. A flat, solid surface to work with.

After choosing a drawing, it is recommended to print it, enlarge it, transfer it to cardboard or plastic using a carbon copy (if there is no carbon copy, take a pencil and shade the back of the drawing, and then draw a silhouette along the lines with a pen, everything will be printed on the cardboard) The drawing is attached to the cardboard with tape - otherwise, it may shift. If you are making a stencil out of cardboard, it is advised to glue it over with tape on both sides, otherwise the paint will be absorbed into the cardboard. Next, we cut out those areas inside the stencil that should be painted over.

You have chosen a template and decided on where you will make the drawings. First you need to prepare an empty wall for painting. To clear the empty wall from dust and dirt - wash or go with a vacuum cleaner. Then we outline the places for the drawing. For this, it is more convenient to use the level. In order for the stencil to stick to the wall, use tape or aerosol glue.

We need:

  1. Roller or sponge.
  2. Acrylic or aerosol paint.
  3. Aerosol glue or tape.
  4. Stencil.

If you chose spray glue, spray it onto the stencil, then press it firmly to the surface. In order to make a template, it is advised to use acrylic paint. Acrylic does not dry for long, this paint is suitable for any wall. If you are working with a roller, remove excess paint, otherwise the paint will be unevenly distributed. There should be a minimum of paint, otherwise it will leak and ruin the entire template. If you are working with spray paint, keep the spray can 30 cm from the wall.
