Aromatherapy dates back to ancient times. The principles of scent treatment have been used in Egypt, Greece, India, China and other countries in Asia. Gradually, this direction spread to Europe and America. As known, essential oils have a relaxing, calming, anti-inflammatory effect. You can choose a suitable smell for yourself and enjoy, while it is quite possible to make a device for supplying oil (which is called an "aroma lamp") with your own hands.

Device

An uncomplicated construction made of a container with essential oil is what an aroma lamp is. With their own hands, this device was made (as mentioned earlier) in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. It was an ordinary lamp, over which a small container (made of ceramics, glass and other natural materials) was installed - oil from various herbs with the addition of water was dropped into it.

It can be noted that at the moment the principle of the device has practically not changed, but the device is also used as an addition to the interior, as lighting fixture or flash drive.

Fixture types

The aroma lamp (you can make a simpler version with your own hands) is of the following types:

  • Classic device. The most common device consists of a bowl of water and oil, which is heated with a burning candle.
  • This device differs from the prototype in that a conventional lighting lamp powered by a network is used as a heating element. Moreover, this device is also used for soft lighting of the room.
  • Aroma lamp with ultrasonic device. The principle of operation of this device is significantly different from the previous types. Here the oil is fed into a diffuser where it is evaporated by ultrasound. This aroma lamp (it will be difficult to make such a device with your own hands) does not produce side odors, such as from burning a candle, it is safe, since water is not used here, which, if handled carelessly, can lead to the power grid. In addition, this device is economical as the oil is not diluted, but directly enters the diffuser.

How to make an aroma lamp with your own hands?

In order to make such a device yourself, you may need the following materials and tools:

  • oblong tin can;
  • small candle;
  • scissors for metal;
  • bowl or other suitable utensils;
  • glue and decoration stones and other materials).

This is a very simple way to make an accessory such as an aroma lamp with your own hands. The master class is presented below.

When choosing a jar, pay attention to the fact that its top should be smooth. Below, in the side surface, you need to make a small hole through which the candle will be installed. The bowl or other utensil must fit the top opening in the jar so that the bowl is stable. The surface of the jar can be decorated with various materials and glue on your own. Then you can place the bowl on the jar, fill it with water and add a few drops of oil.

This device has a good calming and healing effect. In addition, some essential oils (such as pine) disinfect the air. This device can be installed anywhere in the house and enjoy pleasant aromas.

Cedar relieves stress, adds confidence, and stimulates performance. Tea tree and lemon are good antiseptics, so it is recommended to use them during the peak of respiratory illness to disinfect premises.

In fact, if you have a well-developed imagination and ingenuity, then there can be an endless variety of options for how to make an aroma lamp at home. The main thing is to remember about safety precautions, and do not get carried away by long sessions.

Smells can make our home unique and unique. Those who seek to create a cozy, stylish environment cannot do without exclusive accessories. Coming after a hard day at work, you want a light atmosphere at home.

And it will help to create an aroma lamp, which is easy to make at home. A home fragrance is one of the main components of any interior, and a fragrance vase will decorate any style, emphasize the individuality of the home owner.

Purpose of odors

Smells are important in our life. They are reminders of the past. The smell of the house plays a huge role in psycho-emotional support for the whole family. You would not resist if your spouse, leaving on a business trip, takes away the smell of the house with him, and will remember you. Or a grown-up child will walk the streets in 10 years and suddenly hears a familiar smell, remembers his native land.

The aroma lamp performs the functions:

  • disinfection, air purification.
  • relaxation and mood creation.
  • air freshener, humidifier.
  • prevention and treatment of diseases of the respiratory system, dermatological, colds.
  • increase immunity.
  • relieving stress.

An aroma lamp bought in a store where they offer various flavors and air fresheners has an insincere smell, has no personality and is only able to mask an unpleasant background. For other options for home or office perfumes, where you can feel the exclusive design and perfectly matched perfume composition, you will have to pay a rather big amount of money.

An aroma lamp made from available tools at home is not only pleasant and useful thing for home, but saves money.

Aroma lamps for different rooms

A DIY aroma lamp involves the use of essential oils. These can be smells of mint, lemon balm, cedar, tea tree, lavender, juniper, jasmine and many others. The main thing is that they like them, do not cause irritation and allergic reactions. Feel free to combine scents and experiment with the composition, adding exotic aromas or enhancing them with citrus.

Option 1 - Gelatin aroma lamp for the living room

For home cooking you will need:

  • A glass of boiling water;
  • 2 tablespoons of gelatin;
  • Jelly container;
  • Favorite smell;
  • Decor.
  1. Preparing the base. We fill a glass with boiling water, pour in the gelatin powder, stir the resulting mixture until it is completely dissolved.
  2. Season with cinnamon (food powder). It contributes to a good mood, is natural, has a pleasant scent.
  3. Add dye. Take any food coloring in an amount to cover the need for the desired color intensity. It is easy to make a colorant, for example, from ground coffee, ground tea, beets, or berries.
  4. Glycerin, bought at a pharmacy, in the amount of 1.5 tablespoons per glass is added to the finished mixture. This ingredient is needed in order to minimize the evaporation of water from the gelatin.
  5. The finishing touch. Add 2-3 drops of your favorite scent. This amount of essential oil will be enough for a room of 15-18 sq. meters fragrant. At first, the smell will be more intense than usual. Then, at home, the smell will become more subtle, it will work for 2 weeks.
  6. Allow the composition to harden in a cool place. It will take 2 hours.
  7. Decorate the scent container with decorative wire or ribbons. The aroma lamp will look like a designer gig when you put natural, artificial flowers or dried buds in a gelatinous composition. Thus, when solidified, it will create a beautiful aromatic-floral composition that will not only fill the air in the living room with a pleasant smell, but also delight the eye.

Tip: If the burner dries up and the jelly forms a crust on the surface, refresh it with a few drops of essential oil and a drop of glycerin to keep the base fresh. Granulated sugar will not allow moisture to quickly evaporate, just as it keeps the freshness of marmalade on its surface.

Option 2 - Aroma lamp for alcohol for the kitchen

For manufacturing you will need:

  • Half a liter of alcohol or vodka;
  • Orange - 1 pc.;
  • Lemon - 1 pc.;
  • Glass jar - 0.5 l;
  • Floating candle;
  • Essential scent optional.
  1. Cut off the lemon skin around the circumference, and remove the orange skin in halves so that you get 2 bowls.
  2. We put orange and lemon zest, cut into pieces, into a jar for a fragrant infusion. This can be done casually or beautifully by crushing the citrus peel.
  3. The remaining halves of orange and lemon must be cut into thin strips for decoration.
  4. Fill the halves of the lemon and orange skins with a glass of alcohol (vodka). We leave for 1-2 days so that the alcohol smell evaporates, and the citrus fruits are infused.
  5. After a day or two, pour the lemon-orange infusion into a beautiful container with the calculation of adding water and decorate with strips of skins left over from the fruit.
  6. Add 2 drops of essential oil, place the candle on the surface and leave it in the kitchen to scent. A citrus aroma lamp without a candle, placed closer to the ceiling, on a cabinet or shelf, exudes a scent more efficiently, since the heat in the kitchen accumulates upstairs.

Advice: Spray citrus infusion at home by placing inside a spray bottle.

The only drawback is that the liquid aroma lamp will not last long. The scent will be useful until the water and alcohol have completely evaporated.

Option 3 - Aroma lamp for the bathroom

For assembly you will need:

  • Wide-mouth fragrance vase;
  • Regular baby oil - 250 ml bottle;
  • Wooden sticks - 3-6 pcs.;
  • Alcohol or vodka - 2 tablespoons;
  • Essential smell to taste - 4-5 drops.
  1. Fill a vase with baby oil.
  2. Add alcohol to evenly rise the aroma over the sticks and stir.
  3. Season the contents with your favorite scent.
  4. Place the sticks in the liquid and leave for 3 hours for the aroma lamp to work.
  5. After 3 hours, turn the sticks over to enhance the smell.
  6. A natural aroma lamp can be used for 3 weeks or more until the oil is dry.

Advice: A pronounced smell is obtained using more sticks, periodically turning them over.

The benefits of essential oils are undeniable both for the physical health of a person and for his psycho-emotional state. But in order to enjoy your favorite aroma as long as possible, you will need not only a bubble of ether, but also an essential attribute of this magic therapy - an aroma lamp. Didn't you have such an accessory at home? No problem! Make useful device independently from scrap materials will not be difficult - enough desire, ingenuity and something from unnecessary trash.

The aroma lamp is a simple design that consists of a container with essential oil and a heating element. This device, in addition to aromatic, can serve as a gentle pleasant lighting, as well as interior decoration. Modern products are made from clay, glass, ceramics, metal and other natural materials.

When the oil is heated, ethers begin to evaporate, the aromas of which spread throughout the room, immersing those present in a special state, depending on the functionality of the selected smell.

Modern aroma lamps are of several types:

  • the classic appliance consists of a bowl of water and oil, which is heated by a burning candle;
  • an electric lamp involves the use of a conventional light bulb as a heating element;
  • an ultrasonic device involves the evaporation of aromas of oil that is supplied to the diffuser.

How to make an aroma lamp with your own hands at home

A simple aroma lamp can be made independently from scrap materials. In terms of its functionality, it will not be inferior to the factory accessory, and if you wish, you can work hard on an attractive appearance, showing your imagination.

Important: the material for the aroma lamp must be fireproof to avoid sudden ignition.

Regardless of the material from which the lamp will be made, it is important to adhere to some recommendations:

  • the oil container should be 30-40 ml (2 tbsp. l.);
  • the bowl should be easy to rinse;
  • the distance from the fire to the oil tank is about 8–10 cm (so that the water does not boil, but is hot).

From a tin can

The most budgetary, fastest and affordable way enjoy the aromas of your favorite esters - make an aroma lamp from a can, which can be found in every home. An elongated tall can is suitable for this purpose, for example, from under olives or beer..

In addition to the main component, work will require:

  • marker;
  • construction knife;
  • awl;
  • small candle;
  • container for oil (bowl or salt shaker);
  • glue and decorations (shells, sea stones, etc.).

The following procedure should be followed:

  1. First you need to make a hole through which the candle will fit inside the lamp. To do this, on the side of the can, draw a cut line with a marker (for example, in the form of an arch), taking into account the size of the candle. The bottom of the arch should be level with the bottom of the can.
  2. Via construction knife carefully cut the opening for the candle.
  3. In the upper part of the can, with an awl, make holes for the exit of combustion products (it can be in the form of a pattern). Pre-patterning with a marker will make the task easier. Small holes in the form of a pattern along the entire side wall of the can become creative decoration products.
  4. Using the prepared decorations and glue, arrange the lamp according to your preference.
  5. Place a container for oil on top of the jar, suitable in diameter. Fill it halfway with water and add a few drops of the prepared essential oil.
  6. Place a lighted candle on the bottom of the jar.

Once, in moments of creative inspiration, the idea came to me to make an aroma lamp with my own hands. I don’t have the patience and ability to spend a lot of time and effort on crafts, so I chose the easiest way, which is described above. I even managed to make it even easier. By simply cutting off the bottom, I got a through jar, which is enough to put on top of a burning candle. In this case, the candle should be smaller in diameter than the can. I used a steel cocotte as a bowl for butter. It only remained to make holes in the side wall of the can for the smoke from the fire to escape. Here I gave free rein to my imagination so that my aroma lamp also looked attractive in dark room... The whole work took me no more than half an hour. And I get pleasure from the emitted smell every day.

For work you will need:

  • clay for modeling;
  • foil;
  • a special knife for clay;
  • paints;
  • water.

The principle of operation resembles modeling from plasticine, which everyone went through kindergarten and school, but still working with clay has its own characteristics. The instruction for sculpting a standard-shaped clay aroma lamp looks like this:

  1. Spread out the foil and work on it.
  2. Mold a bowl about 10 cm high with a hole in the side to fit inside the candle. You can sculpt from a solid piece, or you can lay out the flagella in rings one on one, which at the end are leveled to smoothness with water.
  3. Separately from a small piece, create a plate - a container for oil.
  4. Use a special knife (if you don't have one, you can use a toothpick), apply a relief drawing or pattern. You can overlay three-dimensional shapes.
  5. Then you should dry the product. To do this, you first need to put the figure on the street, and after drying, place it in the oven, increasing the temperature by 30 degrees every 15 minutes. After turning off, leave the lamp in the oven until it is completely dry.
  6. Now you can paint the product in the desired color.

By the same principle, you can sculpt a product from salt dough: After drying, it turns to stone, creating the effect of a clay figure. To prepare such a mixture, you need to take a glass of fine salt and flour, add 5 tbsp. spoons sunflower oil or hand cream, mix well. After that, start mixing the mass, gradually adding water until uniformity and elasticity are achieved (about 1–1.5 cups of water should go away). To get a colored dough, you can add food coloring or natural juice to it. It is necessary to dry the crafts from the salt dough in the same way as the clay dough in the air, and then in the oven.

Clay for modeling can be purchased at a children's art store The bowl should have an opening on the side for a candle The bowl can be laid out with flagella one by one With some effort, you can get an exquisite piece of furniture

Express way of aromatherapy session with orange

If you are not a creative person or there is simply no inspiration, and you want a fragrant pause right now, then there is a simple way that will help you relax. A regular supermarket orange comes in handy for an aromatherapy session.

To create a simple version of a fragrant lamp, you have to work very little:

  1. Cut the orange exactly in half.
  2. Separate the peel from the pulp with a spoon.
  3. Cut a hole (or several small ones) of any shape in one of the halves.
  4. Lubricate the inside of the peel with the ether of your choice.
  5. Place a lighted candle in a whole half and cover with a leaky part.

To add flavor, you can decorate the rind with clove buds, which will not only improve appearance, but also give a special light touch to the aroma.

Safety regulations

Using an aroma lamp, we are dealing with fire, so it is necessary to remember about the safety rules in this process:

  • do not leave a burning lamp unattended;
  • use an additional fireproof stand to protect furniture;
  • choose a place for the device away from curtains and other quickly flammable objects;
  • do not spray deodorants, hair sprays, air fresheners or other flammable products nearby;
  • place the lamp out of the reach of children.

The process of making an aroma lamp at home is simple. And if you have a good imagination, then there are many options for creating a product. The main thing is to observe safety rules when handling fire, and also not to get carried away by frequent inhalation of ethers.

What is an aroma lamp? This is a "miraculous" device that aromas the room due to the evaporation of essential oils. In the store, these devices cost fabulous money, but the benefits of them are amazing, especially during epidemics of viral diseases. Let's try to make an aroma lamp with our own hands, because the effect will be the same, and its price is ten times cheaper.

What is an aroma lamp for? Modern psychologists argue that the creation of an "aromatic atmosphere" in a room greatly affects the emotions of the people who are in it. With the help of aromas in this way, you can even control human mood, for example, create romantic evenings, tone up, increase libido, etc. The aroma lamp forms a relaxing aura, heals, killing microorganisms, in particular viruses, activates the internal forces of the body, which is very important, for example, in or.

What are the aroma lamps?

The simplest aroma lamp is a container with water and essential oils dissolved in it, under which a candle burns. The principle of its operation is simple: a small candle evenly, but not strongly, heats the bottom of the container at the top, and essential oils gradually evaporate from the surface of the water, saturating the room with a healing aroma. In the East, water is not used, and only aromatic oils are poured. However, the smell can be very strong, and this, in turn, can even harm.

For a good aroma, you need about 10 ml of water and 5 drops of essential oil, but you can choose "your" concentration yourself.

Do-it-yourself aroma lamp: is it possible? How to do it?

Prices for scented lamps in stores are very "biting", although in reality the basis of each is only material and design. But the result does not depend on this, right? Let's try to make an aroma lamp with our own hands. Using the tools at hand, you can create a truly effective weapon against viruses and ill health.

DIY "candle" aroma lamp

You will need a can of lemonade or beer and a small candle, maybe even in the manner of those sold by romantic sets. Cut off the top of the jar and cut as many holes in the sides as possible (you can have three large ones so that you can put a candle inside one of them).

Place a small deep glass or metal saucer with a bottom diameter slightly less than the diameter of the jar on top of the cut of the jar, so that its edges extend beyond the edges of the jar. Pour water into a saucer and drip oil. Place the candle inside and light it. The aroma lamp with your own hands turned out to be not very beautiful, but its effectiveness is maximum!

DIY electric aroma lamp

You will need an empty hollow cylinder with no top or bottom, a light bulb with a base, and a glass plate / bowl. Place a light bulb with a base (which is plugged into the socket) inside the cylinder, secure, and on top place a glass container into which you pour water and oil.

The bottom of the container can be taken slightly less than the diameter of the cylinder. Take a light bulb no more than 15W. Turn on - the lamp heats the bottom of the plate, the essential oil evaporates.

Aroma lamp "battery"

The easiest option: take a porcelain or ceramic cup, fill it with lukewarm water (50ml), drip 5-7 drops of your favorite essential oil, and put the cup on a hot battery. If you need a “quick” aromatherapy session, this is the best thing you can do.

And, of course, aromatherapy can be done with a regular piece of cloth dipped in a solution of essential oil. Put a rag on a hot battery and enjoy the scent!

What other aroma lamps are there?

On sale you will find all the similar types of aroma lamps described above. There are also diffuser aroma lamps, the action of which is based on the atomization of the essential oil itself without the participation of water in the process. At the same time, the consumption of ethers is minimal, since it does not even touch the walls of the vessel with the diffuser. The prices for such devices are fabulous, but now you can enjoy the aromas by making an aroma lamp with your own hands.

Mixtures for aroma lamps

In a hand-made aroma lamp, you can drip not only pure oil, but also mixtures of ethers, and depending on the desired result, they can be as follows:

  • From unpleasant odors essential oils of rosemary, mint and lemon in equal proportions will help in the kitchen. If desired, the lemon can be doubled. In total, 5-6 drops of the mixture per 10 ml of water are recommended.
  • To add self-confidence: incense 2k, grapefruit 2k, ylang 2k, orange 2k.
  • For toning the nervous system: 2k mint, 2k cinnamon, 2k juniper, 3k neroli.
  • For soothing and relieving anxiety: palmarosa 4k, valerian 5k, ylang 3k or sandalwood 4k, incense 2k, rose 3k.
  • For disinfection of premises during an epidemic: 4k tea tree, 2k lemon, 2k chamomile.

The work on the creation of the aroma lamp is creative. Here, as in any other business, the easiest way is to repeat what others have already done. There are proven ways to scent the air in a room, and they work ironically. But not all technical discoveries have been made yet and not all design tricks are known. Therefore, prepare ideas and materials - we will create.

Aroma lamp - what is it

An aroma lamp is a device for carrying out hot inhalation. In the very simple execution it is a one-piece body, where at the bottom there is a platform for placing a heat source: a candle or an alcohol lamp, and on top there is a bowl where hot water is poured and oil dripped. While the fire is burning, healing compounds evaporate from the surface. The device is designed so that the water does not boil during lamp operation - if too high temperature the natural composition of the essential oil changes, which is undesirable. You can repeat analogs of ready-made house models from clay, dough, metal and glass jars.

What is such a device for:

  • to sanitize the premises. Almost all essential oils have bactericidal and antiviral properties;
  • as a natural air freshener and fragrance. Essential oils have a very unobtrusive scent - so sometimes people complain that their aroma lamp is not working. In fact, everything is in order;
  • to prevent diseases and improve immunity;
  • for relaxation and mood improvement.

When essential oil components evaporate from the surface of the aroma lamp, they irritate the sensitive fiber of the olfactory nerve. The signal carried by essential oils goes to the brain: namely, to its most ancient system - the limbic one, which is responsible for our memories, desires and feelings, for the production of certain hormones and neurotransmitters. It is important to choose for aromatherapy not synthetic, not falsified oils, which are mainly sold on the domestic market.

For information: the cost of 20% essential oils starts from 500 rubles. The aromatic extract is diluted in vegetable oil, which is much cheaper, the percentage of essential oil is indicated on the package. The production of 100% natural professional oil is quite costly - to obtain 10 ml of ether, up to 1 ton of raw materials is processed. So a quality product will cost not 90 rubles or 200 rubles, but from 1000 to 5000 rubles.

Broadcast nerve impulses - commands to the body from the central nervous system - a process by its nature electrochemical. It runs smoothly and smoothly when the brain metabolizes organic compounds from natural essential oils. In response to the received signal, the body independently begins to produce the necessary hormones. The reaction to artificial information obtained with the fumes of cheap pharmacy ethers can be unpredictable.

The aroma lamp should work no longer than 20-30 minutes, during which time all useful compounds will have time to evaporate from the water surface

Catalytic lamps

Catalytic lamps or Berger lamps work on a different principle: a composition is prepared from alcohol and an essential oil diluted in it. The liquid is poured into a glass bottle - it is filled about two thirds. The bubble is similar to the one in which eau de parfum is released. Only instead of a spray bottle, there is a carved lampshade on top and a cap that covers the end of the wick placed inside. The cap and lampshade are removed before lighting the wick. The burner is catalytic: made of ceramics and platinum, it is ignited for only two minutes, then the flame is extinguished. Cover the bottle with a lampshade on top. It takes 20 minutes to flavor a room with an area of \u200b\u200b18–20 m 2. The combustion process continues all this time, but it passes without fire and smoke, so there will be no admixture of burning in the air. To extinguish the lamp, you need to remove the lampshade and replace the cap: it is important to check that it is firmly pressed against the body. You can put the lampshade on top and move the lamp away from heat sources.

The combustion process in an aroma lamp with a catalytic burner does not leave a burning smell in the air

Electric aroma lamps

In electric aroma lamps, the oil reservoir is heated by a thermoblock, which is used as an incandescent lamp, therefore, in fact, the device is a small lamp, and the ability to heat oil on it is an additional function. The lamp base is attached directly to the power supply, which is equipped with a Euro plug and an on / off button. A glass or ceramic case with holes for air circulation and a recess on top where water and oil are poured is put on top. Batteries can also be a power source in such a device.

USB lamps

A convenient option, especially for work, is to connect a USB heated platform to your laptop and use it for aromatherapy. True, the models produced do not yet differ in a variety of designs: a plastic case and a minimum of decor. Therefore, it also makes sense to copy the principle of the device to another case and adapt a model that is convenient from a technical point of view for the home.

A USB aroma lamp can be assembled at home on the basis of any convenient body of a conventional aroma lamp

Ultrasonic diffusers

A modern development for room aromatization is an ultrasonic diffuser, which additionally ionizes and humidifies the air in the room. The device operates on a 120V network, therefore, before use, you need to either change the power supply and adapt the device to a 220V network, or use an adapter. The upper part is removable, under the hood there is a water tank where the glass is poured cold water and 5-6 drops of essential oil. Then the device is connected to the mains and left for 6-8 hours. The vapor is cold, the liquid evaporates very slowly, so that the aroma lasts almost all day. As a rule, the diffuser is also equipped with a variable backlight function.

The aroma diffuser usually has a lot of additional effects - backlighting, modes, a large water tank, and among the disadvantages - the formation of condensation on the surface where the device stands

Safety engineering

You need to prepare for an aromatherapy session. Rinse the bowl where the oil is poured, check that there are no traces of the oil mixture on the outside - it is highly flammable. Warm up the water in the kettle - only hot water can be poured into the tank, the optimum temperature is 50–60 o. Candles are best taken odorless, in metal tablets. The coasters themselves, by the way, can then be reused - they are comfortable, and on the bottom they have a ready-made clip for the wick.

It is recommended to ventilate the room for 20-30 minutes before the procedure. When you light the aroma lamp, close the door, windows and vents. Natural essential oil gives a very unobtrusive aroma - it will not hurt or dizzy and you will not want to go out into the fresh air. If such a desire nevertheless appeared in those 10-15 minutes that the aroma lamp works, you have low-quality oil. Find another use for it: for household purposes, for example, for washing clothes or washing the floor. Remember the dosage: 5-6 drops of oil or oil mixture are enough for a room with an area of \u200b\u200b18–20 m 2.

Do not place the aroma lamp on a plastic or foam surface; it is also undesirable to place the device on a table covered with a tablecloth or oilcloth. During operation, the lamp should not be near heating devices and open fire.

Do not leave the device unattended: the principle "you never know what can happen" has not been canceled, especially if you are dealing with a combustible mixture. Remember that small children and pets pose an additional risk of fire - it is recommended to remove them from the room during the procedure. Only 20 minutes is enough for aromatizing a room, at most 30 minutes, because during this time the oil evaporates. Only diffusers can work for several hours, but there is cold steam and the evaporation process is much slower.

At the end of the procedure, put out the wick / unplug the device and wash the tank in a soapy solution, and then rinse with clean water and vinegar. This way you can use a different scent next time and it won't mix with the old one. Then wash the outside of the case and wipe dry.

Any lamp that is cracked or otherwise damaged should be disposed of.

Care should be taken during the operation of aroma lamps due to fire safety

How to make an aroma lamp at home

  • the oil reservoir should be easy to clean;
  • bowl volume - not less than 30 ml (2 tbsp. l of water);
  • the distance from the fire to the bowl is 8–10 cm, so that the water is hot, but does not boil away;
  • in appliances that run on electricity and USB, the bowl can be snugly attached to the power source.

Made of metal

In general, the materials are taken the same for several simple models:

  • a tin can, better narrow and elongated, like from under olives or beans;
  • marker;
  • construction knife;
  • candle / spirit lamp;
  • container for oil (salt shaker, socket).

Method one.

It is assumed that the lid is already missing from your can - you do not need one for the aroma lamp.

  1. Decide what your lamp will run on. The width of the opening for the candle and spirit lamp is different. Estimate the width of the opening and mark a hemispherical outline with a marker.
  2. The bottom should be flush with the bottom of the can, the top should be so that the fingers pass freely.
  3. Draw the same hemisphere on the opposite side of the can.
  4. Cut out both phalanges.
  5. Put a socket on top, pour hot water into it two-thirds of the way, drip oil.
  6. Light a candle / spirit lamp and place it on the bottom of the can.

Method two.

  1. It differs from the previous one in that the base will be an inverted tin can.
  2. Also mark the height along the phalanx of the fingers, draw a marker with a marker and cut holes along it on both sides so that the hand goes through.
  3. It is not necessary to adjust in width - such a lamp does not have a bottom, you can light a candle and just put a jar on top of it.
  4. When the side openings have been made, turn the can upside down and make a round hole in the center for the fire.
  5. A bowl can be made from a jar cup, an alcohol burner tank, a glass saltcellar, or an outlet.
  6. Pour water, oil, light a candle / spirit lamp and put it inside the jar.

Through holes are needed for ventilation of air in the case

Method three.

Of the materials, you only need a beer can and a 2.5 mm wire 20-25 cm long.

Method four.

You need a trimmed beer can or a low tin can and a piece of wire 2.5 mm thick and 10-15 cm long. Any piece of board will go into the base. For work you need a drill and an awl.

  1. Drill a hole 1.5 cm deep in the plank.
  2. Bend the wire with the letter G and insert the long end into the drilled board.
  3. Make two symmetrical holes in the jar, pierce with an awl and hang on the wire.
  4. Pour water and oil into a bowl. Place a lighted spirit lamp on the board.

If the holes in the jar are loose and the bowl is tilting, you need to press the edges closer to the wire

The fifth method.

What you need:

  • 2 low sprat or sprat cans;
  • a sheet of A4 thick paper;
  • spoke;
  • silicate glue;
  • linen or cotton threads.

How to assemble the structure:

  1. Cut A4 sheet into 4 parts, twist each strip into a tube using a knitting needle. To curl the paper tighter, you can roll a knitting needle across the table.
  2. Glue the edge of the strip onto silicate glue, iron the tube several times on the table.
  3. Remove the knitting needle, do the same with the other three strips of paper. Tape the paper tubes first to the jar, which will be the water bowl.
  4. Then put the structure on the second jar and fix the base tubes in the same way. Spread the threads both from above and below with silicate glue, so they will not be combustible.
  5. Now you can pour hot water into the upper jar, and put a lighted candle in the lower one.
  6. To make the oil evaporate longer, it is recommended to dilute it in an emulsifier - drip the oil into a teaspoon of salt, and then add it to the water.

The supporting legs are made of paper, but if you smear the threads on which they are attached with silicate glue, the structure will be protected from fire

Sixth method.

The aroma lamp is a little more difficult to implement than previous models. For manufacturing you need:

  • 2 beer cans;
  • small CD;
  • tablet candle;
  • glue;
  • long scissors;
  • copper wire;
  • rubber feet for crafts.

What should be done:

  1. Trim the bottom of one beer can, the neck of the other.

    Cut the bottom of one can, the top of the other, any soft metal can do

  2. Dissolve the cut off into ribbons 7–8 mm wide, bend the plates at a right angle.

    The cut can will be used to make the evaporator wall

  3. From a metal tape, make a ring equal in diameter to the jar, insert it into the part of the jar with stripes. The ring is to be wrapped in stripes. If they are too long, trim off the excess, but do not discard the pieces of metal - they will be needed for decoration.

    The metal ring is bent around with ribbons to make the wall more dense

  4. Insert the bottom of the second cut can into the ring, bottom up. This will create an evaporator with a double bottom and an air gap - the oil will evaporate much more slowly than just in a tin can.

    When a second bottom is inserted into the ring, air gap: in this design, the oil evaporates more slowly

  5. Twist the spirals from the scraps and decorate the wall of the structure. Wire rings will also perform a decorative function - wrap the evaporator with them from above and below.

    Spirals made of scrap strips and wire around the perimeter of the can, as well as a metal plate on top, perform a decorative function

  6. Prepare the supporting structure by gluing the feet to the disc.

    Rubber feet will give the structure stability

  7. Install wide metal strips of evaporator stands.

    Metal strips are bent several times and attached to the disk with glue

  8. Assemble the lamp housing. Pour water and oil into the bowl, put a lighted candle down.

    The metal legs of the case can also be decorated with metal spirals

From a glass jar

The aroma lamp from a glass jar, according to the principle of the device, is somewhat reminiscent of a catalytic lamp, which looks like a perfume bottle. The model made at home will look different, but it will also decorate the interior.

Lamp with wick

What you need for a lamp:

  • transparent glass jar with a tight-fitting metal lid;
  • ready wick;
  • awl;
  • paraffin oil;
  • eco-materials (branches, cones, needles, dried flowers, berries and leaves).

Put the pre-selected decorative elements in a jar - flowers, leaves, twigs, fill in with paraffin oil. In the center of the lid, make a hole in advance so that the wick can easily pass. When all preparatory work completed, thread the wick under the lid, lower it somewhere to the middle of the can, or even slightly lower. The aroma lamp is ready. Do not use it for 24 hours, wait until the wick is saturated with oil. When burning, the aroma of fruits, herbs and spices will spread throughout the house. To enhance it, you can drop a few drops of essential oil into the jar.

In addition to alcohol or paraffin oil, add 3-5 drops of essential oil to fruits, berries and herbs to make the smell stronger

Suitable as a case and old lamp incandescent.

In addition to it you will need:

  • metalwork hammer;
  • thin screwdriver;
  • large diameter coin;
  • glue or silicone, glue gun to it;
  • cold welding;
  • syringe;
  • wick;
  • alcohol;
  • essential oil;
  • match.

How to assemble such a lamp with a wick:

Floating candle lamp

The floating candle option works when an infusion with a strong smell, such as citrus fruits, is poured into the jar. Therefore, it will be practical to put such an aroma lamp in the kitchen - for freshness.

For a 0.5 liter can you will need:

  • 0.5 liters of alcohol or vodka;
  • 1 orange;
  • 1 lemon;
  • tablet candle;
  • essential oil of any citrus.

Peel the fruit, cut the zest into cubes or strips, put half in a jar and leave the other for garnish. Pour in a glass of alcohol and leave for a day to get the tincture. Transfer the remaining zest to a jar, put a lighted candle to float.

From clay

The lamp will last a long time if made from polymer clay and bake in the oven.

What you need:

  • 150-200 g of polymer clay;
  • mineral paints for painting;
  • thin brush;
  • stack;
  • toothpick;
  • wick or candle;
  • foil to cover the work surface.

How to do:

  1. Cover the table with foil, knead the clay until soft. Divide the mass into two unequal parts - one will go to the base, the other to the walls.
  2. The bottom of the future lamp is made in the form of a circle, it is enough just to roll out the smaller part into a cake 1 cm thick.
  3. Form the remaining clay into sausages and stack them one on top of the other until you reach the desired height. The walls are conveniently aligned with water and a stack. Then there are two options:
    • you cut a large hole in the wall for a candle, several small ones for ventilation, and sculpt the top of the lamp in the form of a bowl;
    • you turn your workpiece into a bowl, pull out the spout where the wick will lie - you get an oil lamp.
  4. The drawing is applied with a knife or a toothpick, whichever is more convenient. Dry the clay in the air, then bake the form in a preheated oven. It is recommended not to close the door for the first 10 minutes, so as not to test the strength of the material with sudden changes in temperature.
  5. Gradually increasing the heat, bring the temperature to 200 o and dry the lamp for 1.5-2 hours.
  6. Do not remove the finished product until the oven has completely cooled down.
  7. When taken out, the applied ornament can be painted with mineral paints - they are discreet, dim colors. If you want a more interesting decor, you can use acrylic paints.
  8. It is recommended to use an aroma lamp every other day. Pour the oil mixture into a lamp in the form of a bowl, put the wick so that its edge lies in the elongated spout and set it on fire. For a candle burner, remember to preheat the water.

The oil mixture is prepared from any vegetable oil with the addition of 1-3% essential oils

Author's master class on making an aroma lamp from clay

A user under the nickname DisLikE shared on her blog the experience of making an apple-shaped aroma lamp-candlestick. To repeat her model, you need, of course, a lot of patience and accuracy, but the finished thing, however, is beautiful.

Materials used

  • clay;
  • rubber spatula;
  • stack;
  • brush;
  • pencil;
  • paper;
  • glaze for coloring;
  • rolling pin;
  • sponge and rags.

Working process

  1. The work begins with drawing a stencil. There will be through cuts on the front wall of the aroma lamp, for which you need to draw a pattern. The stencil must be cut out immediately and then set aside.

    Using this stencil, then we will cut holes in the front wall of the aroma lamp

  2. It is easier to sculpt according to ready-made sketches. We make several sketches, determine the size of the finished product.
  3. Knead the clay, roll it into a tight ball, make a depression on top and begin to gradually increase the cavity. It is important to ensure that the wall thickness is uniform over the entire circumference (3–6 mm).

    The walls of the workpiece should be 3–6 mm

  4. Cut the uneven edges with a stack and smooth them with your fingers. We form a hollow ball - for this we pull out the edges, collect them in folds, cut off the excess clay. Level the top of the ball with a knife and water or a rubber spatula.

    We align the edges of the ball, and cut off the excess clay

  5. Now the regular ball should turn into an apple. On liquid clay, glue a small patch on top in the center (thickness about 5 mm), press it well and smooth it, then make a through hole. The same thing needs to be done on the other side - put a patch, smooth it out and make a round hole with a stack, then expand it with your finger. The holes should be symmetrical, then it is easier to mark the cutting line along them.

    We make holes at the top and bottom of the workpiece to mark the cut border

  6. Cut off a part of the future apple, lightly tap the rest on the table to give it stability.

    In the large half there will be an aroma lamp, the small one needs to be rolled into a cake and decorated with slots

  7. On the convex side of the workpiece, you need to cut a hole for the candle, having previously estimated it so that it fits in size. Do not forget that after drying, clay shrinkage can be up to 30%, that is, the hole will become smaller.

    The hole must be made with a margin, because after firing the clay "shrinks"

  8. We roll out a small part of the workpiece into a cake - it is more convenient to roll it through a rag, so the mass does not stick. We apply an apple to the workpiece, outline the outer contour. Along the same contour, you need to circle the prepared stencil. We retreat 5 mm from the edge so that the hole does not fall on the seam line, and start cutting. This will be the front wall of the aroma lamp, it is glued to the liquid clay.

    We glue the carved front wall to the workpiece on liquid clay

  9. From a piece of clay we sculpt a leaf and a stem, then we apply the clay to a real sheet so that the veins are imprinted. Then the clay must be carefully separated and glued to the apple. Dry in the air, but not in the sun. Then we bake, paint with glaze and bake again.

    Ceramics is always an experiment, it is difficult to predict what color will turn out

From orange

If you want to make an orange aroma lamp - do it, but you need to use it right away, it won't stand for a long time.

What is needed

  • 1 large orange
  • olive oil (1 tbsp. l);
  • citrus essential oil (2-3 drops);
  • tablet candle;

Cut the orange, remove the pulp from both halves, grease the walls with an oil mixture. Place a lighted candle at the bottom, cut a round hole at the top and connect both halves. You can take more oil - pour it into the bottom half and make an oil lamp out of the orange. A cotton thread is suitable as a wick.

Before lighting the candle, brush the orange halves with an oil mixture - olive oil and 2-3 drops of any citrus oil

The second version of an orange aroma lamp involves more ingredients, except for an orange you will need:

  • paraffin;
  • olive oil;
  • citrus essential oil;
  • needles;
  • 2 wicks.

Cut the orange in half, remove the pulp, and brush the halves with an oil mixture. Place a wick in each bowl. Heat the paraffin in a water bath, add chopped needles or zest to it and fill the halves of the orange. The tail of the wick should protrude 1–1.5 cm out of the bowl. Leave the candles to cool for a few hours. You do not need to put it into the refrigerator, the paraffin will set unevenly. Such an aroma lamp is also being prepared shortly before use.

From dough

What you need:

  • 1 cup flour;
  • 0.5 cups vegetable oil;
  • 0.5 cups of water;
  • wick;
  • acrylic paints;
  • thin brush.

How to do:

  1. The dough should be firm, so do not pour all the water into the flour at once, add gradually.

    The dough is kneaded with flour and water

  2. Roll out part of the dough into a cake, form the walls of the bowls from the rest, make an elongated spout for the wick. You can make a pattern with a knife or toothpick.

    One piece of dough can make several pieces

  3. To bake, preheat the oven to 200 degrees, grease a baking sheet with oil and bake for 15 minutes.
  4. Cool the product, paint with acrylic paints, and let dry.
  5. Fill the lamp with oil, such as olive oil, add 5-6 drops of essential oil. Place the wick in the bowl, leaving the tip on the surface.

    Dough oil lamps can be used several times, but they are short-lived

How to make candles for an aroma lamp at home

To make candles with your own hands, you need:

  • wax or paraffin, melted old candles will do;
  • cotton thread for the wick;
  • forms for candles;
  • wooden sticks or toothpicks for attaching the wick.

Let's start creating candles:

  1. Grate wax (paraffin) on a coarse grater and melt in a water bath, stirring constantly. To avoid spoiling the dishes, you can melt the wax in cans, they should be different in width so that one can freely enter the other, you can take the same in height. If desired, the wax can be tinted by adding rubbed wax crayons of suitable colors.

    Make sure that the paraffin melts completely, there should not be even small pieces in the candles

  2. Place a piece of cotton thread in each mold, so that the end with a margin remains on top - it is convenient to fix it on a wooden stick.

    For small tablets, use toothpicks as a holder

  3. When the wax is ready, pour a little at the bottom of each mold to secure the wick at the bottom. It's good if you still have metal tablets from old candles, they usually have a handy wick holder.

    A little paraffin on the bottom of the mold needs to be poured to fix the bottom of the wick

  4. Wait about a minute for the wax on the bottom to set and fill in the form to the top.
  5. The candles should stand for about a day for the wax to harden completely.
  6. Then you can cut off the tip of the wick - it should be well saturated with wax. Recommended length is -1-1.5 cm.

Ready-made store candles can be scented, then they will replace the aroma lamp. Take a favorite essential oil or mix it up with several oils. Lubricate the entire surface of the candle, wrap it tightly in a plastic bag and store in a cool place for 2-3 weeks. During this time, the wax will be saturated with your favorite aroma, and you will feel it while burning.

DIY electric aroma lamp

The easiest way is to assemble a two-in-one unit: an aroma lamp and a lamp. From materials you will need:

  • incandescent lamp 15 W with base;
  • adapter cartridge-fork;
  • lamp stand;
  • can;
  • steel wire;
  • oil reservoir (socket, saucer).
  1. The bank will act as a lampshade. At the bottom, make a hole for the chuck.
  2. Screw in a low power (15W) lamp. At the bottom, make two small holes for the wire, on the side, two more holes for ventilation.
  3. Bend the wire at the base with the letter P, then measure the same height on each side of the can and make it there and there along the fold.
  4. Make a second fold to fix the jar to the metal frame. The wire inside the can should not interfere with the shade. For a secure fit, process the ends of the wire with a soldering iron.
  5. When the lamp is to be used as a lamp, direct the light to the side, when for aromatherapy - fix the homemade lamp in the upward position, put a socket of a suitable diameter on top. The oil will evaporate from the heat generated by the lamp being turned on.

An energy-saving lamp for heating oil will not work, you need to screw a low-power incandescent lamp into the cartridge

How to assemble a USB aroma lamp

It is quite possible to use a heated USB stand as an aroma lamp: just put a saucer of water and oil instead of a mug. If this option is not interesting, you can assemble a structure that will work on resistors.

  1. USB 2.0 port is 5V 500mA, withstand resistance up to 10 ohms. If you count on 11-12 ohms of resistance, and there is a desire to protect the device from possible overloads, you need to get a total of 4 watts of power. The designer of the USB lamp circuit, when he was assembling his model, found 0.5 W resistors at home, that is, he needed 8 pieces.

    For convenience, the circuit has a switch to turn the aroma lamp on and off without pulling out the USB cable

  2. Resistors are located in the same plane, the leads must be soldered.
  3. It is supposed to fasten the structure to a flat surface so that the heating is uniform. That is, you need to find a conventional aroma lamp, where the oil reservoir does not come into contact with the body.

    Heating glue creates impurities in the air, which is undesirable in aromatherapy, so it is better to use paper clips for fastening

  4. To connect to USB, power is taken from the red and black wires. The wires are glued to the lamp body.

    The wires in the assembled lamp are not visible; that the lamp is working, it is clear from the lit LED

What can replace the aroma lamp

It is possible to scent the air in the room and arrange a relaxation session without an aroma lamp. Simple analogs of this device will help.

Aroma stones

You can make aroma stones from salted dough.

  1. Add 1 cup fine salt to 2 cups flour.
  2. In a glass of hot water, stir any dry food coloring and 5-10 drops of essential oil.
  3. Add 1 tbsp to flour and water. l vegetable oil and knead the dough.
  4. It is convenient to use silicone molds for molding.
  5. If desired, the dough can be decorated with a pattern, then left to dry. The stones are porous and retain the aroma for a long time. As you exhale, you can freshen it up by adding a few drops of oil to the surface.
  6. Scented stones can be molded from salt dough, gypsum or clay.

    Gel flavor

    How to make a gel flavor:

    1. Add 2 tbsp to a glass of boiling water. l gelatin, stir.
    2. Add 1.5 tbsp. l of glycerin to reduce water evaporation.
    3. Take cinnamon powder or any other extract with your favorite flavor and 2-3 drops of your favorite essential oil — in this case, also cinnamon.
    4. Choose a color based on what your fragrance will smell like. Any natural food coloring will do. You can take ground instant coffee, for example.
    5. Stir all the ingredients, pour the mixture into a glass or jar that can be placed in a prominent place in the living room.
    6. After preparing the mixture, put it in a cool place for 2 hours. Decorate to taste when you get it.
    7. Try to add only natural food colors to the flavor.

      Aroma sticks

      How to do:

      1. Add 25 drops of essential oil to a glass of any unscented vegetable oil.
      2. Add 2 tsp of alcohol and mix thoroughly.
      3. Pour the mixture into a narrow-necked bottle or vase.
      4. Place a few 15-25 cm long bamboo sticks in the oil.
      5. When the fragrance diminishes, you can add a few drops of essential oil to the bottle.

      Better to take bamboo sticks, they absorb aromas well

      Hydrogel Fragrance

      A hydrogel is a small elastic polymer ball. In everyday life, they are used as wet soil, but the flavoring from them will also come out quite good. One sachet is enough for a sample (the packaging is similar to the one in which beads are produced) and 7-10 drops of any essential oil.

      1. The oil is added to the water - how much is needed is indicated on the label.
      2. Balls are placed in the water and left for 12 hours. Use a larger container as the hydrogel will increase in size.
      3. When the balloons are saturated with your favorite scent, transfer them to transparent vases and jars and place them around the apartment.
      4. The fragrance can be refreshed as needed by adding a solution of essential oils to the hydrogel.

      To fill a vase, you need one small sachet of hydrogel - the balls increase in volume almost 100 times

      Baking soda flavor

      Making such a flavor is simple:

      1. Soda keeps odors for a long time. Sprinkle it a centimeter layer on the bottom of the can.
      2. Add 7-10 drops of essential oil.
      3. Close the jar with a lid and shake well.
      4. Use an awl to make ventilation holes in the cover. If there is no lid, you can close the jar with a layer of foil, and make small holes with a needle.

      To prepare a flavoring agent, soda with essential oil added to it must be tightly closed with a lid, and small holes must be made in the lid.

      Making an aroma lamp with your own hands from scrap materials is a simple process. Materials are usually always found on the top shelf in the pantry and in the kitchen. And if something is missing, you can adjust the model for yourself, change something and add. After all, creativity is a space for experiments.
