Creating a wonderful image of your garden, making it cozy and beautiful, you can not do without small architectural forms. Among them, the garden arch, entwined with flowers and ornamental plants. Everyone will want to have such a magnificent decoration on their site. To do this, you can buy a ready-made arched frame in the store, but it is much more interesting to make a special, unique arch with your own hands.

An arch is a narrow openwork structure consisting of two vertical surfaces and a horizontal one lying on them, which can be flat or arched. And the arches installed one after another, forming, as it were, a corridor, are called a pergola.

Except exclusively practical application- supports for climbing plants, the arch in the garden is used as a diverse element landscape design.

  • It can decorate the entrance or decorate the gate.
  • A garden arch is often used to delimit zones.
  • By placing the arch near the wall of the house and placing a bench under it, we will get not only a wonderful place to relax, but also a chic decor of the building.
  • If you have a large plot, then a flowering arched corridor will become the main decoration of the garden.
  • A small arcade (pergola) can replace the gazebo.

Pay attention to the photo, garden arches various kinds make any landscape unique.

When arranging an arch for a summer residence, it is necessary to take into account some requirements.

  1. The height of the vault must be at least 2 m, so that a person of any height can pass freely.
  2. When determining the width of the structure, it must be taken into account that plants can grow over time and narrow the passage.
  3. The arch in the garden should match the style of the entire site.
  4. When placing an arched frame, do not forget to provide a suitable place for planting climbing plants.
  5. The garden arch should be decorative at any time of the year, with or without flowers.
  6. The arched structure must be strong and well fortified, withstand the weight of plants and strong winds.
  7. If you plan to build not a collapsible arch, but a standing one all year round, then pay attention to the characteristics of the material and its proper processing so that frost and bad weather do not spoil the design.

The choice of material for the manufacture of arches for flowers in the country is determined by its strength, availability, compatibility with the general style of the estate. It can be wood, metal, plastic or a combination of these materials. Advantages and disadvantages are present in each of them.

Creating garden arches with your own hands, you can show maximum imagination, combine in one design various materials. And our step-by-step instruction help bring your project to life.

wooden arch

First, consider how to make a wooden arch with your own hands. The simplest option is with a flat (straight) top crossbar. It is more difficult to make an arched top, this requires some experience and skill.

For vertical pillars, you should take strong thick bars (about 100x100 mm). In order for the wooden arch to be reliable and durable, we need four such pillars, each 3 m long. You also need to prepare 18 one and a half meter pieces of smaller timber (about 70x70 mm), as well as slats. Before starting work, all prepared wooden details it is necessary to treat it with a special antiseptic agent against fungus, rot and pests.

On three-meter poles, we leave 1 m for installation, and on the remaining part we evenly make 4 marks for the grooves. From the pillars we build two "ladders", fixing one and a half meter crossbars on the marks in the sawn grooves (using the "half-tree" method). Then, for greater reliability, we strengthen the structure crosswise with slats. We make the top from the remaining one and a half meter pieces of timber, connecting them to each other, also using the fastening of parts “half a tree”. At first, an angular arc will turn out, but by cutting off the protruding parts of the bars, we get smoother transitions.

Curly vines are able to ennoble any corner. In natural conditions, nature itself takes care of them ...

In the selected area, four holes should be dug 1 m deep, in which the pillars should be installed, leveling them. For reliability and durability, the lower part of the pillars that goes into the ground is pre-lubricated with bitumen or wrapped in waterproofing material. The structure is then concreted. The finished wooden garden arch can be painted in any color.

It is an ideal support for climbing plants, because in winter wooden surface freezes less.

To make a do-it-yourself wooden arch please you for a long time, choose only well-dried wood.

metal arch

Not every metal arch can be made independently. For example, forged garden arches require a certain amount of skill and special equipment.

The easiest option is metal garden arches made of rebar. To create such a design, you will need, in addition to materials, friendly help. Prepare two round reinforcing bars with a diameter of 10 mm, each about 6 m long. And also, depending on the type of spacers, from 3 to 9 m of reinforcement with a diameter of 6 mm.

The proposed arch for flowers will have the following proportions: height about 2 m, distance between the arches - 30 cm, between the struts - 15 cm, from the bottom to the first strut - 60 cm, for deepening into the ground - 50 cm.

Directly on the ground, using a rope (90 cm long) and a peg, you can draw an arc. Then, along the entire length of the furrow, drive in metal pegs with a small interval and bend two reinforcing bars around them with the help of a friend.

To fasten the reinforcing arcs into the arch, we need spacers. It can be both rings and simple crossbars. In the first case, a thin reinforcing bar should be cut, using a hacksaw, into pieces of about 94 cm and, using a pipe bender, bend them into rings. In the second - just cut the rod into pieces a little more than 30 cm.

To fasten the workpieces together, a welding machine or a soft but strong wire is used. Such a structure should be dug into the ground to a depth of about 50 cm. For a stronger and more reliable fixing, you can first dig pieces of pipes (about 30 mm in diameter) into the ground, and then fix the arch in them. In any case, having previously set the level, the base should be concreted. The last stage is the processing of the arch with anti-corrosion material and painting.

Look at the photo of the arch made of metal rods.

Arch made of plastic pipes

Do-it-yourself rose arches from plastic pipes fairly easy to make. We will need a soldering iron for such pipes (“ironing iron”) or special glue, as well as 12 m of thick-walled PVC pipe for hot water with a diameter of 20 mm and 12 pcs. tees.

First, cut the pipe into pieces with plastic scissors:

1.5 m - 2 pcs.

80 cm - 4 pcs.

40 cm - 8 pcs.

30 cm - 6 pcs.

Then, using tees, we assemble the "ladder" in a certain order. In the center, a piece of 1.5 m, then pieces of 80 cm on both sides, and then two pieces of 40 cm on each side. There are 30 cm jumpers between them. The frame is ready. Now we slowly bend it into a suitable arc and install it in the right place.

Since such an arch for flowers requires dismantling for the winter, it is better to install it in pre-concreted in the ground metal pipes slightly larger diameter.

It is very good to use such garden arches for annual climbing plants. Do-it-yourself clematis arch can also be made in this way.

To add elegance to the space surrounding the house, a garden arch will help. Visually, it creates an interesting focus, ...

Arch made of stone and other materials

The stone arch is the most expensive and difficult to manufacture. For such a design, a foundation is required, and even without the appropriate skills it is difficult to make it. Such arches to order can be built by a professional bricklayer.

Vine (rods) is used as exclusive materials for the construction of arches. Such a wicker arch will wonderfully emphasize country style. And a successful addition to oriental motifs in the garden will be an arched bamboo structure.

A simple do-it-yourself garden arch can be very beautiful, the photos clearly illustrate this.

If your result is not so successful or very simple, then plant more flowers and your flower arch will look amazing. Well, if the arched structure turned out to be openwork and elegant, then there should be few flowers, they only emphasize the beauty of the base.

Use any curly flowers for the arch in the country. These are tender annuals - sweet pea, morning glory, thunbergia, ornamental beans, hops, ivy, nasturtium, more about which can be found here

Do not be afraid, get to work, and your arch with flowers will become a source of pride and the main decoration of the garden. And our video will help overcome some difficulties.

Who at least once did not admire this decorative garden decoration? Or did not remember the rest on the bench under the arch, entwined with clematis or climbing roses? But did this arched structure, immersed in a green waterfall of wild grape branches, hung with flower pots of flowering annual begonias and petunias, leave anyone indifferent? All this beauty of the decorated territory of the site is given by one of the most expressive elements of landscape design - a garden arch. And the beauty created by one's own hands pleases doubly.

How to make a garden arch yourself, without resorting to the help of professionals, to accentuate and decorate a recreation area - patio or garden? To cope with this task by building a "flowering corridor" and decorating it with plants, any summer resident or amateur gardener can do it.

Span plus supports

Garden arch - a vaulted structure, consists of vertical posts (supports) with an arcuate or direct connection at the top. It has a shape symmetrical about the vertical axis and a through opening "gate" or repeating sections. Refers to small landscape forms. It has a variety of styles.

According to the material of manufacture, garden arches are:

  • Wooden - block, plank, trellis, wicker or combined.
  • Metal - from pipes, rods, profiles, metal portable trellises, including forged arches.
  • Plastic - from pipes, collapsible, sectional or lattice.
  • Stone - brick, buildings from natural stone on the foundation.

Light wooden structures

Wooden arches have a presentable "classic" look, are easy to paint and easy to manufacture. They are the most common type of arches with an acceptable price / quality ratio. Lumber for arches is selected dried. The best drying is natural, for three years under a canopy. To make an arch with a corridor length of 3 m, you will need 6 bars (3 on each side). Rectangular section 75 × 75 mm or 100 × 100 mm, height 2.0–2.2 m. At one end, the bars are impregnated with an antiseptic for the length of the recess (you can use used motor oil, diesel fuel). If poles are used as supports, a proven method is used - logs are burned at the stake.

Pits are made with a garden drill or a shovel every 1.5 m with a depth of 0.5–0.6 m. The verticality of the installation is checked by a building level or a plumb line. The most reliable installation method is concreting. However, there is an opinion that concrete "attracts" moisture, from which the tree quickly becomes unusable. Therefore, a three-layer pour should be preferred to a continuous pour - layers of cement screed should be alternated with layers of dense soil.

Of the 6-7 prepared rails of arbitrary section, 4 are mounted horizontally between the bars - they fill the voids. Two or three slats will go at the end of the assembly to connect the three arches of the vault-floor. The semicircular arcs themselves are made from a wooden beam (board) according to a cardboard template that repeats the profile of the future floor from the chain of the n-th number of fragments-details having a rounded shape.

The length of each is usually 40-80 cm and depends on the radius of the future arch and the width of the lumber used. A cardboard template is superimposed on a wooden blank, the contour of the fragment is outlined and the part is cut out with an electric jigsaw or manual router. final assembly made on a cardboard template - the first layer of cut fragments is laid end-to-end. Then, with a shift of half a detail, a second layer is laid on it. Both layers are interconnected with self-tapping screws, and the finished arcs are installed and attached to the upper parts of the supports.

Note! The disadvantage of wooden arches is a relatively short service life and low structural stability.

Strong and durable

Metal structures are strong and durable if you take care of them. Full painting produced every 3-4 years. Tinting in places where rust appears - annually. For the manufacture of garden arch take two metal rods L = 6 m and Ø 10 mm. A template for the future opening is prepared on the ground - a contour is outlined with paint, and metal pins L = 20–30 cm are driven into it. The legs of the curved reinforcement are buried in the ground to a depth of 45–50 cm, the dug holes are filled concrete mortar. Rings are formed from meter-long rods on a pipe bender - fillers of the space between the arcs and fasten them to the skeleton with soft wire.

In the absence of this bending tool, the space is filled with crossbars - straight metal bars. The finished structure is covered with an anti-corrosion coating - a primer layer and painted with enamel.

Lightweight and high performance

It is these qualities that plastic arches have - modern look landscape structures. They are made independently, plastic pipes of round or rectangular section are used as the frame material - most often they use plumbing pipes Ø 20 mm. best material high-quality PVC is considered - it tolerates high and low temperatures better, therefore, such constructions are not cleaned by the owners for the winter in utility room. An alternative to manufacturing is to buy ready-made structures of various styles - they are easy to assemble, and installation does not require special skills.

Note! The disadvantage of plastic structures is the limited choice colors- in most cases they white color. However, the problem is easily solved by applying color to the surface of the garden arch. A wide range of polyurethane paints and acrylic enamels specially designed for plastic and PVC. With their help, you can easily change the color of the arch.

Multi-section

A sequence of light arches connected by beams in the form of a canopy is called a pergola (from the Italian name pergula - canopy, extension). According to the location, they can be independent, stand-alone, or structures attached at one end to the wall of the room. Pergolas often start above the entrance group of a room or a terrace and serve to protect residents from the scorching rays of the sun, including places for a barbecue, pool or outbuildings. A pergola with a bench can serve as a local recreation area. It replaces the gazebo, having a simple manufacturing technology similar to ordinary arches.

Modern gardeners are increasingly using vertical gardening with climbing plants on their plots. For an effective location ornamental crops supports are needed. Arch for flowers in the country - one of the most popular designs. About how to do original shape with our own hands, we will tell in our article.

Garden supports are primarily functional structures that allow vines to grow upright. If they were not there, climbing plants would creep along the ground. Except functional purpose, they serve to decorate in the garden. One of the structures, the arch, forms plantings in the form of a semicircular vault. Even the support itself looks original.

The role and functions of the arch in landscape design

Dimensions and appearance structures should correspond not only to the purpose, but also to the general style of the garden. In landscape design, they belong to small architectural forms (SAF). If in the summer the supports, densely overgrown with plants, are not visible, then in the fall, when the leaves fall, they open - that is why they should decorate the plot at any time of the year.

Supports for flowers in the country differ in shape, size, design features. They are made of metal, wood, plastic. Pay attention to the fact where the device will be installed, the assortment of future plants depends on it. Another option is possible - the owner of the site first chose the vines, and then he faced the task of correctly placing them in the garden.

Location in the country house and in the garden

In order for the design to organically fit into the style of the landscape, it is important to take into account such aspects as:

  • size and shape;
  • appearance;
  • strength;
  • decorative.

Vertical structures in the country are installed taking into account their design features, and also take into account which flower composition will eventually be formed.

Types of structures by shape

In landscape design for vertical gardening use the following types of architectural structures:

  • trellis - a support in the form of a small flat wall;
  • an arch, which consists of two parallel flat walls connected to each other by a rounded vault;
  • The pergola consists of two vertical columns that are connected by a horizontal crossbar.

Fences, gazebos, gazebos, pavilions and other small architectural forms can serve as supports for climbing plants. Perhaps the most common of them is the arch. Perhaps because it is not difficult to arrange a garden plot with its help.

Every gardener can make an arch on their own from improvised materials. For this, it is not necessary to have special skills. But first you need to decide what to make this very arch from.

Use of different materials

Vertical supports are made of metal, wood, plastic. Perhaps the easiest way to build garden arches for climbing plants with your own hands from plastic pipes. Of these, it is quite possible to prepare the necessary parts and fasten them with simple connections.

From plastic pipes: how to assemble and install

building from this modern material has a lot of advantages:

  • durability - the declared service life of the material is 50 years;
  • strength, allowing to place rather heavy woody vines on supports;
  • high wear resistance of the coating, pipes do not need to be painted;
  • resistance to temperature changes.

When the advantages are taken into account, you can proceed with the assembly. You will need the following tools and materials:

  • PVC pipes and with a diameter of 20 mm, a length of 12 m;
  • fittings (tees) for connection, 12 pcs.;
  • hacksaw;
  • soldering iron for polypropylene pipes.

The work is performed in this order: Step by step instructions

Step 1Mark the pipe into segments: 1.5 m - 2 pcs; 0.8 m - 4 pcs; 0.4 m - 8 pcs. For transverse jumpers, you will need 6 pieces of 0.3 cm. Tee corners - 12 pcs.
Use the diagram to assemble
Step2Cut the pipe strictly according to the marks with a hacksaw.
Step3Degrease the edges of the segments.
Step4Insert into a special nozzle for heating.
To connect PVC parts, use a special soldering iron for plastic.
Step5Insert heated parts into tees. Do not touch the connections until they are completely cool, otherwise the parts will move and the structure will warp during installation.
Step6Bend the structure and dig it into the ground. The distance between the uprights can be from 1.7 to 2 m. With a larger width, the arch will be flatter, respectively, at a shorter distance, the angle of inclination will increase.
Step7Decorate the arch with plants, planting them on the outside of the support.

If assembly with a soldering iron is not suitable, you can use special glue for plastic. To fix the parts, the inside of the tee is coated with glue. The same is done with the outer edge of the pipe, which is inserted into the connection. After 15 minutes, when the glue hardens, the structure can be bent. In addition to PVC pipes, other materials are used.

Wooden

Vertical supports made of PVC pipes are easy to build, but their appearance is inferior to decorative wooden arches for the garden. They differ in a variety of shapes, sizes and patterns. From an aesthetic point of view, they are superior plastic products, but have a number of disadvantages:

  • wooden construction requires preliminary preparation of the material. It must be treated with protective agents against decay;
  • making a garden arch from wood with your own hands requires certain skills in working with wood;
  • the durability of wooden arches is less than that of supports made of other materials. From time to time the tree needs to be repainted. Do it in spring or autumn. To do this, the plants are removed from the support. But not all horticultural crops respond positively to such a move. Some of the flowers get stressed from being moved from place to place, up and down, in a word, suffer from such interference. For example, they do not like excessive anxiety climbing roses. When choosing a wooden support, it is important to take into account the sensitivity of crops to possible removal from the vertical.

In addition to arches, other types of supports are also popular among gardeners, for example, wooden pergolas for summer cottages. The design is similar to a gazebo: vertical pillars are connected by a horizontal bridge. This classic form came to horticulture from architecture and evolved into a more complex structure with additional details. With its help, you can decorate a summer garden if the pergola is planted with flowering annuals, or create intricate weaves of tree vines in winter.

A vertical support is installed at the entrance to the garden plot, placed above footpaths and car parks, used as a functional support for climbing plants in the garden and in the garden.

Often decorate the porch of the house to protect the entrance from drafts.

metal

These metal products for giving the most durable and durable. They tolerate heat and cold well. They are independently made from fittings, profiles, water pipes. To do this, you need to have welding skills and remember about possible risk. It is easier to contact the manufacturers of metal structures. They offer a wide range of forged and welded designs. Regardless of who made the arch, remember the disadvantages of this durable and beautiful material:

  1. The metal quickly warms up in the sun, so it can act on plants like a hot frying pan. Therefore, it is better to paint the supports in light colors, they reflect sunlight. Most crops for our climate are deciduous, and not all the time of the year the support is covered with a crown. While the leaves bloom, the structure is open to the sun.
  2. To protect against rain and snow, periodic updating of the paintwork is necessary, otherwise the structures may rust.
  3. Of all the materials listed, metal is the most expensive.

Such supports are more suitable for a garden with a wrought iron fence or coupled with the exterior of a house in the corresponding style.

We use stones

An even more durable material than metal is hard rocks, such as granite. Of these, capital supports were built back in the days of the Roman Empire. On modern sites, they are also found, but extremely rarely. Firstly, it is expensive, and secondly, stone arches are difficult construction work. Of course, stone supports are beautiful and reliable, but do not forget that minerals get very warm in the sun and keep warm for a long time. Most plants do not withstand such a "heat treatment". In frost, the stone behaves like an ice block, which does not contribute at all successful wintering vines.

Construction from improvised materials: the pros and cons

You can make an arch in the garden with your own hands from the remains after construction or repair. The undoubted advantage of this method is significant savings on the purchase of materials. On the other hand, not all of them allow you to do the work yourself. In any case, it turns out an exclusive product that your neighbors will definitely not have.

Selection of plants and flowers

If the arch is located on the sunny side of the garden, any profusely flowering culture is suitable for it. Among summer residents, tree vines are popular:

  • vesteria, she is wisteria;
  • kampsis,
  • honeysuckle honeysuckle;
  • clematis,
  • climbing roses.

In the garden and in the summer flower garden will be appropriate:

  • curly beans or peas;
  • tunbergia;
  • farbitis.

Garden fences made of mad cucumber look original. It is better to pluck its fruits unripe, otherwise it will shoot seeds several meters away. For this he got his name.

On supports in the shady part of the garden will successfully accommodate:

  • girlish grapes five-leafed;
  • aristolochia (kirkazon);
  • bindweed;
  • curly aconite.

Which support to choose for the garden depends on its purpose, location and your sense of beauty.

The selection of material depends on the location and conditions of the facility for the grapes. From where in the distance from home, and what functionality you want to give it. After all, it can be adapted for growing varietal grapes, which will give the arch the function of a vineyard, and for growing decorative grapes, giving it and, accordingly, the entire summer cottage an exceptionally aesthetic appearance with a shading function.

An arch for grapes should be installed in a well-lit place

The size of the arch also depends on the choice of location for the arch. But under any circumstances, the height of the arch should be at least one meter higher than the average height of a person. And do not disturb the overall composition of the site, the center of which is the house. The arch should not be too high if it is located near the house. If the purpose of building an arch is to create a shadow for the house, then a semi-arch, fixed on one side to the wall or roof of the house, is also suitable for this. In all other respects, one must proceed from the expediency of using an arch for a particular place, guided by relevant considerations.

Arch can be done:

  • from wooden bars and planks;
  • from plastic pipes;
  • from metal rods and metal pipes;
  • from metal structures, subject to the use welding machine.

Can be made from ordinary wood original arches for grapes

It is from the choice of a site for an arch under grapes that its dimensions will also depend. The height of the structure should be 1 m above the average height of a person. Also, it must not violate general form the entire plot in the country. You do not need to make the arch very high if it is concentrated near the house.

If the creation of the structure involves shading the house, then a semi-arch is suitable for these purposes. It will be fixed on one side to the roof of the building. The choice of other parameters for the arch installed in one place or another is carried out in accordance with one's own wishes.

To make an arch to the vineyard, you can use metal, wood and plastic. Each of the presented materials has its own performance characteristics.

Every gardener knows what amazing taste grapes have. But grapes are not only bunches of juicy and fragrant berries, but also an excellent option for decorative decoration. personal plot. Vine given fruit crop widely used for decoration of fences, walls of houses, arbors, columns and, of course, arches.

Grapes on the arch attached garden plot special charm. In addition to aesthetic appeal, grape arches serve as a kind of recreation area. Here you can grow plants that are afraid of direct sun rays, or arrange a small area for recreation.

Before proceeding with the choice of materials and arrangement of the frame, it is necessary to designate the place where the do-it-yourself grape arch will be installed. The dimensions of the future design depend on the intended purpose. So, if you plan to shade the house with the help of this architectural form of landscape design, then it is better to give preference to a semi-arch, one of the sides of which is fixed to the porch of the building.

According to experts in the field of landscape design of personal plots, the height of the structure should be 1 m higher than a person’s height.

When choosing a place and thinking over the design of the future composition, it is necessary to adhere to the harmony and unity of style with the rest of the structures of the area. The frame for grapes should organically fit into the composition of the plot.

wooden bars

After building the arch wooden bars need to be treated with an antiseptic, covered with stain and moisture-resistant varnish. wooden base, which will be in contact with the ground, requires additional attention. As recommended experienced gardeners, in order to avoid rotting of wood, the arch bars must be tightly wrapped with roofing material and secured with wire.

plastic pipes

Arch for grapes made of plastic pipes is very popular among gardeners. This design is lightweight and durable material, and is not subject to rotting and corrosion.

So that during the assembly of the structure there are no problems at the joints, all pipes must be of the same diameter. It is recommended to carefully think over and draw up a drawing of the planned structure in advance. When deepening the arch into the ground, the base pipes should be strengthened and concreted.

However, it must be said about the shortcomings of this material: the construction of plastic pipes is not suitable for growing high-yielding varieties grapes, as under the weight of the bunches, the arch will begin to deform over time.

Many gardeners are wondering if it is possible to make an arch under a vine from reinforcement rods and metal pipes with an anti-corrosion coating. The arch for grapes made of metal has many advantages, among which it is worth noting strength, reliability, high wear resistance and structural stability.

In order for do-it-yourself metal vine arches to last for many years, you need to carefully consider the frame drawing. To work, you will need a welding machine or bolts that are inserted into holes drilled in metal pipes.

Please note that such designs are not easy. For this reason, try not to complicate the arch with unnecessary elements and carefully work on deepening the base of the frame.

If you want to make an arch for grapes that will last for decades, it is better to give preference to harvested metal structures. For the construction of a metal frame, one cannot do without a welding machine. In the process of work, you can use metal pipes of various lengths, channels, thin rods, from which you can decorate the original top in the form of lamps, lanterns or flowerpots.

Either from a desire to save money, or from an overabundance of imagination, our people have learned to benefit from those objects and things that a pedantic European would have sent to a landfill long ago. Greenhouses are built and palm trees are made, cute garden figurines are made of, and any garden furniture. Scraps of plastic pipes left after repair can also be used to good use. They make the simplest decorative things, beds, chairs and even greenhouses - the scope for imagination is huge, and we have collected only the most interesting ideas crafts made from plastic pipes that can serve as a guide to action or a source of inspiration.

Pipe connection methods

Plastic pipes are like designer parts. By combining segments of different lengths and connecting them at different angles, you can get anything: a beginner will be glad that he built the simplest hanger, and a professional will easily assemble bunk bed. The main thing is to be able to connect the pipes correctly, and then it will be possible to do any thing necessary in the household.

Plastic pipes are a collective name, and which are made from polymers. The greatest demand is and. Segments of different lengths and diameters remain after repair engineering networks in an apartment or in a country house, and, as a rule, they are cluttered in pantries, or rather cluttered, until enterprising craftsmen began to use them for other than their intended purpose. Plastic pipes are characterized by low weight, high strength and durability, they are easy to maintain and safe.

Polypropylene pipes are connected using a special welding machine. It is expensive - it is more profitable to rent it, and it will take a little time to learn how to work with it. You can use compression fittings to connect. In any case, the assembled product will be non-separable.

When it comes to plastic pipe crafts, usually refers to PVC pipes, which can connect with each other in the following ways:

  • socket connection with rubber seal. Manufacturers supply socket pipes with a rubber seal located at the end, thanks to which the work on connecting pipes is carried out simply and quickly, and the joint is sealed. At the first stage, the socket of one pipe and the smooth part of the other are cleaned of dust and dirt. A chamfer is removed from the smooth end of the pipe (an angle of 15 degrees, chamfering cutters can be used) and a mark is applied indicating the depth to which the pipe will enter the socket. The sealing ring of the socket and the smooth part of the pipe are lubricated with a silicone compound and inserted one part into the other, focusing on the mark. For plumbing and sewerage, this is a good connection, but if you are assembling shelves or furniture, then it is not rigid enough. The main advantages: simplicity and the possibility of dismantling, therefore, such a connection is used for the construction of temporary buildings and things;
  • adhesive connection. The ends of the pipes to be connected are chamfered (some just sand the surface), then marks are made indicating the depth of the fitting. The ends of the pipes are degreased with methylene chloride, then the adhesive is applied with a brush to the pipe and inside the chamfer or socket. The pipe is inserted into the fitting (or socket), rotated ¼ turn for better distribution of the adhesive, then the elements can be pressed for 30-60 seconds. It is desirable to carry out all work quickly. The remaining glue is immediately removed, and the connection is allowed to dry for several hours. The process is more laborious, but the joint is more reliable;
  • flange connection. Separate sections are connected using special fittings. Before performing work, the ends of the pipes are cleaned. A flange is put on the cut, then a rubber gasket, onto which the flange is pushed. The elements are connected by means of bolts with a counter flange. Then the bolts are evenly tightened, due to which the alignment of the flanges is achieved. The connection is reliable, the design is collapsible.

When the technology of connecting plastic pipes is mastered, we can assume that almost any craft can be done. It is only important to draw a sketch in advance or make a drawing, and correctly calculate the length of all segments. You can build anything from such parts - we will list only some ideas for crafts from plastic pipes with our own hands.

No. 1. Organizer

The most unpretentious way to use the remains of plastic pipes. You can take pipes of small and medium diameter, even segments of small length will fit. The first option is a mobile organizer. It is enough to cut segments of different heights and glue them together in an arbitrary order or following some pattern (for example, one higher segment in the center, the rest around it). Such a stand is suitable for storing stationery near the desktop or for organizing all kinds of bolts and other fasteners in the workshop.

The second option is stationary. On the one hand, the pipe must be cut at an angle (the most popular option is 45 degrees, but it can be less if small elements are stored). Then the cut elements are attached to a vertical surface using. You can mount the organizer elements on a wall or a specially installed board.
