The ceiling can be painted or plastered, made of plasterboard or plastic, but the only thing you need to put all your strength into is the flawlessness of its color. The emergence of a large number on the market various finishes and materials has led to the fact that the cost of stretch ceilings has fallen. Today, almost everyone can afford to finish the ceiling with vinyl film, but the color palette of the stretch ceiling will puzzle any owner during the choice.

Types of stretch ceilings

The color scheme of the ceilings in the house is today a very important and interesting issue that modern owners usually like to solve on their own. When decorating the interiors of apartments, a few decades ago, the ceiling was the last thing to think about, and stretch ceilings of snow-white color were considered expensive and exclusive. And today PVC film comes in the brightest colors and various textures.

Choosing the color of a stretch ceiling at first glance seems like a fairly simple task that even a child can handle. But this turns out not to be the case at all. The wrong range of colors can create a gloomy atmosphere or divide the interior. Therefore, when you return home, you may feel that the environment is not conducive to relaxation, but to dissonance.

Stretch ceilings can be divided into several types: matte, lacquer, photo printing, mother-of-pearl and metallic. But still, in most cases, the owners use lacquered stretch ceilings. And all this is due to a fairly wide choice of film colors, as well as other distinctive characteristics. Now let's take a look at some of the main types of stretch ceilings.

Matt stretch ceilings

For the classic design of the room, matte stretch ceilings are usually used. In structure, this material is quite similar to classic painting. These ceilings are ideal for rooms where there will be people with a conservative attitude to things and ceiling decoration as well. These rooms seem comfortable and convenient to them.

The color of a stretch ceiling with a matte film is usually pastel or white. Every man is accustomed to follow own feelings taste, but still the use of a white matte stretch ceiling is ideal for large libraries, halls and living rooms. Most of all, bed tones would fit in the bedroom, where you want to relax and unwind.

Lacquered stretch ceilings

Lacquered stretch ceiling without fail must be in harmony with the overall picture of the interior. The color range of such products has more than 120 shades of all colors of the rainbow, this helps the owners to choose the perfect color for any room. Lacquered stretch ceilings visually add depth to the room, this effect is obtained due to the mirror effect of the stretch ceiling. Remember: the darker the film, the greater the reflection effect and, accordingly, the greater the specularity.

Stretch ceilings metallic

For more spectacular design a metallic stretch ceiling is used, which gives grace and freshness to the room. These stretch ceiling colors are commonly used in small rooms but with a rich finish.

Color - Pretty interesting thing, which turns an ordinary room into something meaningful and makes the eye linger on bright objects, and affects a person in a special way. The choice of color for the design of a stretch ceiling is a serious task, because it is necessary that the result is not a faceless space, but a harmonious one. Therefore, before you decide what color to make a stretch ceiling, you need to find out a few points: what is the room intended for, what style will it be decorated in, what is the height of the walls and the area of the room, what shade of furniture, the color of the walls and other various interior items.

A question of harmony

In order to determine the color of the stretch ceiling, you must first select the color of the walls, the tone or pattern of the wallpaper, and also have a laminate, lining, tile available, that is, all the materials that will be used for finishing works. After all, the optimal color of the ceiling is such a tone that not only catches the eye, but is also in harmony with the surrounding objects (walls and coatings).

If suddenly the choice of color does not depend on the decoration of the room, then it is necessary that the color of the stretch ceiling be in harmony with some specific element or interior detail, for example, a carpet, sofa, curtains, furniture facade. But still, what color to choose a stretch ceiling? The most win-win and the best option is a beige stretch ceiling.

One of the main mistakes in this case is the design in one color of the interior, and all this is due to the inexperience of the owners, who do not know anything about the color. If preference is given to the classics in design, then the color for the ceiling should be chosen lighter by 1-2 tones. According to the rules, the ceiling should be contrasting with the interior, but everything should be in the same color scheme.

For example, if the walls are beige, then the color of the ceiling can be made light brown, which is darker by 1-2 tones. Also, the ceiling can be made in accordance with the floors, unless, of course, they are of a dark wooden texture. Here the features are the same as with the walls.

You also need to remember that the contrast of walls and ceiling is a great solution, but the frequent use of several colors at once can lead to the fact that the room will simply be “crushed” with color. It is necessary to pay attention to the character and area of the room before introducing several colors into the interior.

Stretch ceiling texture

Another feature of the stretch fabric is the ability of the ceiling to absorb and reflect light. Depending on this, the following textures of stretch ceilings are presented on the market:

  • Satin and frosted ceilings. They have the property of "narrowing" the room, as well as reducing its depth. This means that the opposite law applies here: for large rooms, a glossy ceiling of rich dark colors is well suited, and for small rooms, of course, a matte ceiling.
  • The glossy ceiling is deep and has an almost mirror effect, and, accordingly, a kind of charm. This stretch ceiling can give off quite a lot of light, expand the boundaries and satisfy the sense of beauty.
  • A suede ceiling is a good solution for a bedroom because it brings comfort and cultivates warmth.
  • Fantasy ceilings with the texture of metal, stone, wood look great in small spaces (kitchen, hallway, bathroom).

Today, art ceilings are also gaining popularity, which are real objects of art and are able to emphasize the atmosphere and sophistication of the house.

Color selection principles

In a room designed for mental work, for example, an office or a library, the ceiling should be decorated brightly. Monotonous shades give the opportunity to feel fresh, but also pacify and distract from work. When choosing the color of the stretch ceiling, it is worth remembering that the color is greenish-blue and sea wave stimulates brain activity, but at the same time you can not choose an aggressive color - orange or red.

The color of the ceiling is easiest to choose if it has drywall in its design, which is usually always painted white. For the rest of the ceiling, you can use all sorts of colors - from light to dark. A bright ceiling will also look beautiful and stylish, while not creating a pressure effect.

In world practice, such a trend has arisen - the use of a rather strong contrast of the color of the stretch ceiling with other primary colors of the room. It is very rare to find an interior design with a monochrome color solution, usually all sorts of color combinations are chosen for the living environment.

The contrasts of cold and warm tones are most interesting. Warm colors are red, yellow and orange, as well as all sorts of shades formed from them - brown, crimson and terracotta. And cool shades include blue, blue, blue-green and green.

When choosing the color of a stretch ceiling, it should be taken into account that most of the colors of stretch ceilings change their saturation and intensity under the influence of light. In bright light, blue, cyan and other shades of this spectrum darken, and orange, green and red brighten. Given such changes, it is, of course, better to experiment with different colors before deciding to buy a stretch ceiling.

If the room is small and you want the space to visually increase, then you need to choose light colors for the ceiling. But it should also be remembered that light-colored lacquer stretch canvases are not as mirror-like as dark ones. You can also expand the room by choosing a cold shade of stretch ceiling. Of course, this will create a feeling of freedom and space.

In rooms that are too large, it is best to use dark ceilings, due to the fact that they can reduce space. But this can also be achieved by using bright warm tones, for example, red, yellow. The room will be more comfortable and cozy.

Floor color for each room

It is necessary to learn how to choose the right color for the stretch fabric for each specific room (bedroom, kitchen, living room, nursery). In the kitchen, the color of the stretch ceiling must cause a feeling of appetite, which means it should be red. If you have completed the design of the kitchen in soothing colors, then exactly the same shades should be chosen for the ceiling.

For children's rooms, the color catalog offers soothing light shades. In the nursery, you can also install panels with photo printing, depicting the favorite characters of children on them. But still, preference should be given to a neutral image that does not interfere with the child's focus. For children, ceilings of blue, green, white, light purple, pink are mainly recommended.

How to choose the color of the stretch ceiling and the combination of tones for the bedroom? Usually for bedrooms it is recommended to choose stretch fabrics in soothing colors. It can be fabrics of cream, white, light green, blue, pink color. Ceilings at the same time can be both multi-color, and monophonic, and two-tone. The role of color in the interior

More recently, the choice of color scheme for the ceiling was limited to white and dusty white. But the days of traditional whitewashed ceilings have passed and they have been replaced by new technologies that make it possible to obtain stretch ceilings of various colors, textures and shades. This is where the question arose, which color to choose. It may seem to an inexperienced person that choosing the color of the ceiling is a simple matter, but it wasn’t there. If your ceiling does not fit into the overall interior, it can cause an oppressive feeling of foreignness, and sometimes even annoying. As a result, there can be no talk of any rest at home. Not all of us understand that each color affects a person in its own way. Our mood, well-being, activity or passivity depend on the color scheme of the interior and the ceiling in particular. Certain colors evoke associations in us and contribute to the emergence of certain processes in our brain.

To understand what color stretch ceilings should be chosen, you do not need to look at numerous photos, it is enough to study the advice of designers and psychologists about the effect of colors on a person. We tried to summarize all these tips in one table:

Color Human impact Recommendations for its use in the interior
White The white color scheme of the ceiling is considered traditional. Color gives a feeling of freedom, spaciousness, tranquility and relaxation. It refers to neutral colors. The abundance of white creates a feeling of sterility and life under the microscope. If you decide to use a white ceiling in the interior of the room, you should not use the same color on the walls and floor. A room with a white ceiling and light walls can be diversified with a few bright spots (pillows, furniture) and then the interior will sparkle and come to life. The contrast of white and black in the interior looks interesting
Warm shades of yellow, orange, red Colors give a charge of energy, vitality, optimism. It has been proven that all warm shades of colors awaken friendliness in people, a tendency to communicate. However, very rich bright colors will not allow you to relax. In the kitchen they increase the appetite Living room or office in these colors will look very good. You should not be zealous with such colors in the nursery, otherwise the child may be too active. You also need to use them with caution in the kitchen so that household members do not empty the refrigerator so quickly. Bright warm colors are more suitable for large spacious rooms.
Shades of raspberry, brown, beige Such muted colors help to relax, tune in to rest. They give a sense of harmony, especially if the color of the ceiling is successfully combined with the entire interior. This ceiling color scheme is suitable for a bedroom, a teenager's children's room and a rest room. More strict restrained tones (brown, beige) are appropriate in office interiors

Tip: do not think that the color of the ceiling itself can solve something in the interior. Stretch ceilings of a certain color, with or without a photo, should echo the entire interior. In some cases, the ceiling can draw attention to itself and hide the imperfections of the walls. Otherwise, it will become only a background for bright decor rooms. So, light-colored stretch ceilings (as in the photo) should be complemented by darker walls.

Stretch ceilings: colors in the interior (photo)

Whatever color the stretch ceilings are, they should be in line with the overall color scheme of the room (see photo). Ceilings should not stand out from the general style, their color style must be in harmony with furniture and wall, floor, wallpaper color. If you are in doubt about what color to make stretch ceilings, and photos cannot help you, then choose perfect option- beige color. However, the whole room does not need to be made beige. So many lovers of experiments are mistaken. In order for your stretch ceilings to have a color that harmoniously fits into the interior of the room (see photo), follow these recommendations:

  1. The ceiling contrasts well with the walls. That is, it is better to choose a darker wall decoration for a light ceiling and vice versa.
  2. Do not use more than two colors at once, otherwise your room will seem very colorful, overloaded with color.
  3. For small rooms, it is better to choose one color in different tones. In large rooms, you can use two colors with its different shades and bright accents.
  4. Stretch ceilings of bright color are ideal for offices and offices (see photo).
  5. Cloths of soothing tones are best used in children's and bedrooms.

Ceiling color and texture

But not only the colors of stretch ceilings matter. Equally important is how well the ceiling reflects or absorbs light. That is why stretch ceilings of the same color, but with different textures, look different in the room (see photo). There is the following relationship between the color and texture of the ceiling:

  1. Stretch ceilings with a satin or matte texture smooth out the depth of the room and visually reduce its dimensions, but this only applies to canvases in saturated or dark colors. But fabric satin or matte stretch ceilings in light pastel shades are ideal for small spaces.
  2. Glossy fabric of pvc films perfectly reflects light. It gives a feeling of spaciousness and visually expands the space, raises the ceilings. Glossy light-colored stretch ceilings are suitable for small low rooms (see photo below), and the same canvases of dark saturated colors will be appropriate only in large spacious rooms.
  3. Suede fabric absorbs light. Such a ceiling is suitable for bedrooms, but you should not make it too dark, otherwise it will create the feeling of a dusty dirty ceiling.
  4. Stretch ceilings of any color with a texture like leather, marble, stone are best placed in a small room, kitchen or used in combination with ordinary matte or glossy canvases. So you do not overload the interior and give the room space and comfort at the same time.

The photo shows how the black stretch ceilings contrast with the walls.

Tip: dark-colored stretch ceilings should occupy no more than half the area. Otherwise, their oppressive depressing effect will be significant. It is not recommended to use such panels in a nursery or bedroom.

If you do not know what color to make stretch ceilings, choose a lighter one. Light pastel stretch ceilings are ideal for our small apartments. They give peace and tranquility, help to relax and calm down. When choosing a color, consider how stretch ceilings will look in different lighting conditions. So, daylight from a window makes the ceiling colder, and an electric light source warms, so bright saturated colors can become even brighter and more aggressive. The drawing can emphasize the color of the canvas.

An example of monochrome interior design

The photo shows that the combination of shades of blue color does not damage stretch ceilings

The combination of colors of stretch panels

Stretch ceilings of the same color are not uncommon, but two-color panels are no less popular (see photo). You can experiment not only in a combination of different colors, but also in the textures of the panels. Just imagine how original matte black ceilings can look in combination with white glossy inserts. On a combination of canvases with different textures, it should be borne in mind that each material has its own degree of stretching. Therefore, the docking of such canvases should be carried out using special docking parts. An aluminum profile is used for fastening to the walls. If there is an insert, then you need to use an edging and a special mount. Stretch ceilings, where two colors are used, can be successfully replaced. This is just a godsend for low rooms, where two-level structures take up too much space. This color separation of the ceiling helps to perform functional zoning premises.

The photo shows an example of a combination of pink and white, lilac and white in the design of the ceiling

In addition, the use of two colors on the ceiling allows you to visually change the dimensions of the room:

  • longitudinal colored stripes lengthen the room;
  • a colored pattern across expands the room;
  • a diagonal color strip expands the space of the room.

Paired colors of the canvas should be in harmony. When performing two-color stretch ceilings (see photo), follow the following rules for selecting paired colors:

  1. Red shades of the ceiling can be paired with gray, white, black, yellow and blue.
  2. Orange stretch ceilings look good with elements of white, green, gray or yellow tones (see photo).
  3. Green canvases can be combined with white, yellow and light brown shades.
  4. Green, black, lime brown colors are suitable for yellow.
  5. Pink stretch ceilings can be combined with gray, coffee and purple (see photo).
  6. The beige ceiling should be combined with white and yellow.
  7. The blue color scheme of the stretch panel will decorate pink, turquoise, purple, gray or pink.
  8. The gray color of the canvases is combined with white, black, pink and light green.

You can see how stretch ceilings of various colors look good in the interior of a particular room in the photo. So that you can achieve this effect, consider when recommending designers:

  1. Stretch ceilings of different colors, but of the same tone, may not look so impressive due to the mutual muting of colors. So, red paired with green muffle each other, but blue and yellow, on the contrary, emphasize the brightness of each. To successfully choose a color combination, be guided not only by color, but also by tone. The perfect combination of colors of different tones.
  2. Almost any interior will look good in monochrome design. Various shades of gray or beige can play interestingly with a good selection and lighting.
  3. When choosing the colors of the stretch ceiling, it is better to build on the already existing pieces of furniture and decor, wall and floor finishes (see photo of interiors). Successful stretch ceilings seem to unite all the objects of the room into one whole and serve as a background for them.
  4. When making stretch ceilings of a certain color, do not forget to take into account the wishes of all household members, because what you like does not always give comfort to others.

Textures and colors of stretch ceilings

To make unusual and make a competent accent in the interior of the room, it is better to choose a good, high-quality stretch ceiling. Ceilings come in a variety of colors and textures. Someone likes matte canvases, someone likes gloss, and someone likes combined options. If you arrange a ceiling of a different color, then you can profitably zone the space, for example, the living room area can be highlighted in red, and the dining room in white.

The red and white combination is a classic of the genre, it looks advantageous and interesting.

Sometimes a device in a room with a simple white stretch ceiling looks boring and banal, so designers recommend not being afraid of color and doing bright accents on the ceiling. This solution helps to diversify the space and make the design complete. It is important to remember that if the ceilings are low, then the colored canvas will only aggravate the situation even more, in which case the only option is a glossy, snow-white stretch ceiling. The choice depends on the preferences of the residents of the house, on the shape of the room, on the height of the ceiling, on the lighting of the space.

The following colors are popular today:

  • Silver;
  • Golden;
  • Champagne;
  • Ivory;
  • Yellow;
  • Lilac;
  • Turquoise.

The options can be the most unusual, you can safely mount a stretch ceiling of cream, green, light green, orange, pistachio, peach colors. The trend is a shade of ocher and burgundy tones. Gold, red colors, a dark ceiling is suitable for classic interior. Combination different shades and textures - an interesting solution. You can arrange such ceilings in country house, in a cottage located in a village, village, town or in an ordinary modern apartment. Interesting solution, the use of stretch ceilings with photo printing. Photo printing is done only on a satin or matte canvas.

The advantages of this type are as follows:

  1. Practicality;
  2. Availability;
  3. fire resistance;
  4. Environmental friendliness;
  5. Aesthetics;
  6. Long service life.

Types of canvases with photo printing can be different, but today clouds, art canvases, animals, nature are very popular. Multi-colored films can also be used on the wall, it can be an insert that visually expands the space.

Color is a kind of weapon that can change the interior beyond recognition. Choosing the color of the ceiling is not an easy task, as the designers say - it is a whole art. It is necessary to select a colored ceiling when the floor and walls have already been finished. Color performance must be compatible. The palette must correspond to a specific group.

Conditionally colors can be divided:

  • Warm tones;
  • Cold tones;
  • Black;
  • White.

Gamma should be perfect. You should be extremely careful when choosing contrasting colors. Almost any color of the stretch fabric goes well with wood floors. With the help of color, you can eliminate the flaws of the room and emphasize the advantages. Light canvases visually expand the space. Red and yellow will create a feeling of harmony, warmth, but at the same time visually reduce the space. Cold shades will give the room solemnity and visually expand the room. You also need to remember about the style of the interior. Under the classics, it is necessary to select ceilings a couple of tones lighter. The shade should be combined with the color of the furniture.

When choosing a color, it is necessary to take into account the psychological side of the issue.

Each color has an impact on a person, so blue calms, green encourages communication, yellow gives energy, but you need to be careful with red, as it can be annoying. Black stretch ceilings are an effective solution, but if you want to mount dark canvases, then you need to take care of the lighting, there should be a lot of it.

The combination of colors of stretch ceilings

The combination must be correct. As already mentioned, it is necessary to combine tones from one group: warm - with warm, cold - with cold. Even if you have skillful hands and design abilities, it is better not to experiment with a combination of cold and warm, as you can ruin everything.

An excellent combination would be the following options:

  • Black and white;
  • Red and white;
  • Green and yellow;
  • Blue and blue.

Almost any shade can be used with white and black. We must not forget about the light. Bright light can make blues and blues darker, and oranges, greens, reds lighter. Intense light can even change the tone of the color, making purple a darker blue and yellow less vibrant. Therefore, if the windows face south, you can choose both warm and cold colors. In a room with insufficient sunlight, it is better to arrange a yellow, orange stretch ceiling.

Stretch ceiling color chart

An online table of colors for stretch ceilings will help you choose the shade of the canvas.

The table usually shows examples of combinations:

  • Colors;

Numbers are indicated that will help determine the choice of what shade the future ceiling will be. It is important to take into account such a moment that the colors indicated in the table may not exactly match the actual colors of the film. This is because the color rendering capability of the computer monitor is not the same as real colors. When choosing, you must take into account the name of the manufacturer of stretch ceilings.

A feature of lacquered stretch ceilings is a visual increase in the depth of the room. This effect is achieved due to the mirror surface of the canvas. In this case, the rule applies: the darker the film, the greater the specularity.

Metallic stretch ceilings

Metallic stretch ceiling is used for a more spectacular design of the premises. He is able to give the rooms grace and freshness. Such ceilings are often used in rooms with small sizes and rich finishes. In addition, due to its unique overflow, such ceilings look great in modern or high-tech interiors.

Color can both give the room meaningfulness and sophistication, and completely spoil the whole design idea. The choice of the color of the stretch ceiling is a very important task, as it is necessary to choose the shade that will harmoniously fit into the interior.

Therefore, before choosing a stretch ceiling, you need to answer a few questions:

  • purpose and style of the room;
  • the height of the walls and the total area of the room;
  • the shade of the furniture installed in the room and the style of its design.

A question of harmony

In order to choose the color of the stretch ceiling, you must first decide on the color of the walls or the tone of the wallpaper, as well as purchase all Decoration Materials. This should be done in order to accurately determine the tone of the future ceiling. After all, the optimal shade is considered to be the one that will not be striking and will be able to fit into the overall color scheme of the room.

If the choice of ceiling color does not depend on the decoration of the room, then it is necessary that the color of the canvas is in harmony with one of the interior details - curtains, carpet, sofa, furniture facade. But still, what color of stretch ceiling to choose? As mentioned above, the most optimal and win-win there will be a beige ceiling. But at the same time, it is important not to make the main mistake in the design - you cannot choose a color identical to the finish, the ceiling should always be 1-2 tones lighter. And the canvas, according to the rules of design, should contrast with the interior.

So, for example, if you have walls beige colour, then the ceiling can be made light brown, that is, 1-2 tones darker. At the same time, the ceiling can be made to match the floors (except in cases with a dark wooden structure). The contrast of walls and ceilings is great solution, but using several colors is also unnecessary, since in this case the room will be crushed by color. In addition, attention should be paid to the area and nature of the room itself.

Color selection principles

When choosing a stretch ceiling, it must be remembered that the color of aqua or greenish-blue stimulates brain activity, while at the same time it is necessary to avoid choosing orange or red.

It is easier to choose the color of the ceiling if there are plasterboard elements in its design, which are often painted white. The remaining parts of the ceiling are painted in the selected shade. In this case, a bright ceiling with white accents will look very stylish and beautiful, without any effect of color pressure.

The most interesting is the contrast of warm and cold colors. Warm colors are yellow, red and orange colors, as well as various shades created by them - raspberry, brown and terracotta. Cold colors include blue, green, blue and blue-green colors.

When choosing a stretch ceiling shade, it should be noted that most of the colors of the canvases can change their saturation and intensity depending on the amount of light (read also: ""). In bright light, blue, blue and other shades of a similar spectrum become darker, but green, red and orange, on the contrary, brighten. Therefore, it is necessary to take into account such changes in the color saturation of the ceiling.

If the size of the room is small, and you want to visually increase its space, then you need to choose light colors. Do not forget that lacquer canvases will not reflect light as much as glossy ones. The room can be visually expanded by choosing cold shades. At the same time, you can achieve a sense of space and freedom.

In large rooms, it is still recommended to use dark ceilings, since a visual increase in volume is simply not appropriate here. A similar effect can be achieved using bright shades - yellow and red. Such a room will be warm and cozy.

But it is better to give preference to neutral images, because, firstly, in five years the child will grow up and this hero will not be interested in him, and secondly, such bright ceilings can be distracting. The ceiling is always in sight, so the designers pay special attention to its design. After all, thanks to a properly selected ceiling, you can adjust the characteristics of the whole room.

The ceiling can adjust the height of the room, visually expand it and adjust it spatially in any direction. Wherein important point is the question: how to choose the color of the ceiling?

Modern design thought has long moved away from the concept that ceilings must be inevitably white.

You can choose absolutely any color and shade. Of course, there are certain principles that should be followed when choosing a color for a ceiling covering. When choosing the color of the ceiling, it is necessary to take into account its combination of the color of the walls and ceiling, the color scheme of furniture and accessories. A very interesting technique recommended by designers is the combination of the ceiling with the color of curtains and floor coverings.

A whole variety is dropped ceilings- here you can achieve the mysterious facets of two-level plasterboard structures, abstract forms of modular structures, as well as the elegance of the color of glossy stretch ceilings.

Before proceeding to the choice of color for the ceiling, it is necessary to decide on the ceiling itself - what type of coating will be, from what materials, and so on.

If the ceiling is traditional, then before you start painting, it must be perfectly aligned. To do this, it is pre-plastered with special putties, then polished with sandpaper. Then it can be painted in any color and choose a style. A modern range of colors and decor allows you to do this. Using suspension systems great opportunities can be achieved, since they have a perfectly flat surface, which can not only be painted, but also glue wallpaper to match the color of the ceiling, photo wallpaper, and so on.

That is, in this case, a wider field of possibilities for design opens up. In the case of installation of modular and stretch ceilings, there is no need to paint them at all, and the range of colors and textures on the market allows you to make any choice.

Thus, you can see that there will be no problems with the choice of color for the ceiling covering. The most important thing in this matter is the implementation of the plan, for which there are a number of rules:

  • The color of the ceiling directly depends on the height of the room - the lower the room, the lighter the ceiling should be. In addition, with low ceilings, it is necessary to combine its color with the color of the walls - there should not be much contrast, which will provide a visual increase in the height of the room.
  • If the height of the room is too high, but at the same time the room is narrow, then the situation is reversed - then the dark color of the ceiling will help.

    This will visually expand, deepen the room, but subject to the light colors of the walls.

  • If the room faces north or west with its windows, as well as in shaded rooms, then the walls should be combined with the ceiling in soft-bright, warm colors.
  • If there is no lack of daylight, then the ceiling can be made more “cold”.
  • It is advisable to paint vaulted ceilings with bright colors - this will provide a psychological effect of relaxation and "unloading".
  • If you decide to make the walls and ceiling of the same color, then it is advisable to abandon matte flat textures and highlight the surfaces with relief elements.

    A ceiling in the color of the wallpaper is not always a good solution, especially if they practically do not differ in texture and decor.

The color of the ceiling largely determines the design of the room. By using different colors, different design goals can be achieved. In addition, it has been proven that different colors can affect a person’s mood in different ways. How to choose the color of the ceiling, the basic rules and characteristics of colors will help.

The classic white color has been used in ceiling design for a long time. White color has a calming effect, leads to a harmonious mood.

It goes well with almost all colors, visually increases the space. In addition, white ceilings have a light reflectance of about 80%, which will make the room much lighter and more comfortable. The white color of the ceiling can be either matte or glossy. And it is not necessary to make the ceiling snow white - there is a huge variety of this popular color, it is used both in ceiling paints and when installing tension systems.

Gray color is especially popular in stretch ceilings - it emphasizes the minimalist style, as well as high-tech. Suitable for modern styles interior. The gray stretch ceiling with a glossy metallic texture looks very impressive.

How to choose a stretch ceiling in a room

Gray ceilings promote concentration as well as peace of mind. They are often placed in the hall and in the living room.

Beige tones in the design of the ceiling are the most popular. There are a huge number options, from milky to ivory. When using this color, the inhabitants of the room will retain a feeling of lightness and comfort.

Yellow ceilings will bring a feeling of sunshine, warmth and comfort to the interior.

The colors of this range (lemon, for example) promote openness and easy communication.

Orange color will add celebration and fun. The orange color of the stretch ceiling will cheer you up and create a joyful atmosphere.

The red ceiling is the most popular of the bright colors for the ceiling.

The flows of this color are very stylish and elegant, emphasizing the taste and sophistication. It is also worth noting that it is also desirable to use red color in glossy stretch ceilings in order to achieve this effect. Red is the color of passion and vivid sensations.

Purple is the color of wealth and wisdom.

It will fit any interior and make it lively and cozy.

There are a huge number of colors that can be described for ages. It is also necessary to correctly select the color of the ceiling, taking into account the functionality of the room. For example, in the hallway, where there is usually very little natural light, light colors should be used. An excellent choice here would be beige ceilings. The bathroom also uses light colors - from classic white to turquoise, blue and blue.

It is important to combine the ceiling with color ceramic tiles. Kitchen ceilings open up a wider field for experimentation. Here you can choose both bright and calm colors, glossy and matte ceilings.

It is worth noting: “cold” tones contribute to the suppression of appetite, and bright ones improve it. The color of the ceiling in the nursery, as a rule, is selected taking into account the individual characteristics of the child and his activity. As a rule, they use light, calm tones for kids and bright ones for older ones.

When choosing a ceiling design for a bedroom, use a single-color or two-color ceiling. Pastel shades are used here to promote relaxation and recovery.

For newlyweds, bright “passionate” tones are perfect - rich red and purple.

It doesn't matter what color ceiling you choose. The main thing is that it matches your tastes and aesthetic preferences, gives you joy and comfort.

Stretch ceilings win the hearts of people with their accessibility and diversity. Former luxury has become available in a simple interior. Today we will talk about what are seamless stretch ceilings: types and how they differ. We will reveal those secrets that consumers do not always know about.

Varieties of stretch ceilings

They are represented by two types of canvases, each of which has its own characteristics and qualities.

pvc ceiling

The most affordable and common has become a design based on PVC material.

Material Features:

  • suitable for any premises;
  • does not let water and air through, withstanding accidents in the pipeline of neighbors;
  • does not burn and does not smolder;
  • does not attract dust;
  • practical in care;
  • wide size range due to the welded seam;
  • elastic material, withstands temperature changes.

fabric ceiling

Fabric tension structures are made of impregnated polyester fabric.

protected from moisture, but less than PVC canvas. Leaks can be held up to 4 hours.

Material Features:

  • the texture is breathable, does not form condensate in wet rooms;
  • can be repainted in a different color;
  • seamless designs for any area, the maximum width of the polyester fabric reaches 5 meters.

The texture of the paintings

Both materials have several textures:

  • Glossy texture attracts with its elegance, specularity and variety of color variations.

    Spectacular design may not take root in a room with a low ceiling and a lot of reflective elements. Dark shades, reflected in the glossy surface, make the room dark.

    And light surfaces will help to increase the space and add light.

  • Matte texture is suitable for the realization of any ideas. Practicality, lack of glare and gloss will allow you to install a tension structure in a low room. At right choice color creates the illusion of a high ceiling.
  • The satin texture is similar to a matte canvas, but has a velvety feel.

    It reflects light more, making the room spacious and bright. White satin fabric looks like pearls. It fits easily and looks noble in the interior.

  • Designers like the transparent texture for its transmission properties, helping to create beautiful light ensembles. Using different light bulbs, you can create a beautiful pattern on the ceiling and cover it with a transparent sheet, creating the illusion of an additional window or glass ceiling.

    How to choose stretch ceilings?

    Transparent textures are made from PVC film.

Varieties of installation and types of structures of stretch ceilings

There are two methods of mounting tension structures:

  • The cold method is safe, applicable only to fabric webs.
  • The hot method is used for PVC film.

    First, the fabric is heated to high temperatures. As it cools, it takes on the desired shape.

With any installation method, a baguette is installed around the perimeter of the room, in which the canvas is fixed with or without a harpoon system.

  • The harpoon system is used for pvc ceiling, to which a strip of a thicker film is additionally welded.

    They push it into a baguette and cut off the excess. Like a harpoon, the base clings to the profile and holds the canvas. The system allows you to remove the structure and install it again. It is possible to eliminate problems in communications installed in between the ceiling niche.

  • The harpoonless (clothespin) system is designed for the thickness of the polyester fabric and works like a clothespin or wedge, securing the fabric.

    It is not possible to re-install the structure. Any technical work will require a change of ceiling covering.

Single-level or multi-level ceilings - what to choose?

Single-level systems are created in rooms where every centimeter is important. It differs from multi-level ones in ease of installation and affordability.

Multi-level designs make it possible to create original masterpieces.

You can combine canvases with drawings, photo printing or different colors. Round, diamond-shaped, conical, arched ceilings are easily created by multi-level systems.

What colors are there on PVC or fabric stretch ceilings?

The monochromatic palette is represented by a wide variety of colors: white, blue, yellow, green and others. When ordering a canvas, you can choose exactly the color that fits perfectly into your interior.

Just do not forget the basic rule: do not combine more than three different shades in the design and your room will always look elegant.

Canvases with drawings, photo printing, graphic and other patterns look especially attractive.

Anything you want can be transferred to a film or fabric base. An experienced designer or your imagination will help you choose a theme.

We invite you to listen to an expert's opinion on the types of stretch ceilings in the video:

We tried to explain what types of seamless stretch ceilings are, what are their differences, and we hope that having the information, now it will be easier for you to make a choice.

How to choose stretch ceilings

Stretch ceilings are an easy way to quickly change the design of a room, hiding defects and giving the room modern look. Installation will not take much time, and the result will delight the owners for many years. But only on condition that a suitable stretch ceiling has been chosen. What should be preferred?

Which stretch ceilings are better to choose: film or textile?

The main question that users must answer themselves is which material is more suitable?

Modern ceilings are made either from heat-shrinkable fabric or from PVC film. Both options have disadvantages and advantages.

Stretch ceiling type pros Minuses
Film (vinyl)
  • relatively low cost
  • ease of care (the ceiling can be washed)
  • possibility of removal and reassembly
  • reluctance to absorb moisture
  • no risk of sagging
  • variety of available textures and shades
  • the ability to withstand a large weight of water, which is especially important in case of flooding of the apartment by neighbors
  • limited width of one piece of film - 3 m (if you need a wider ceiling, you will have to put up with subtle, but still seams)
  • lower strength than fabric ceilings, risk of damage from sharp objects
  • poor cold tolerance (surface may crack)
Fabric (textile)
  • installation without heating
  • resistance to low temperatures
  • breathable effect
  • stylish look
  • ease of care (cleaning can be done with a vacuum cleaner or a damp cloth)
  • the possibility of staining
  • large width of the canvas (up to 5 m), so that even in a “difficult” room it will be possible to do without seams
  • strength
  • antistatic
  • high cost
  • sensitivity to moisture
  • "disposable" (it is impossible to re-mount the ceiling)
  • gradual accumulation of dust
  • the use of non-environmentally friendly impregnation in the manufacture

The main thing to remember when choosing vinyl ceilings is that the room being designed must be heated.

Loggias and balconies the best place for PVC, which cannot be said about kitchens, bathrooms, pools and other parts of the house with high humidity.

Fabric ceilings are perfect for garages, balconies and other cold areas.

The texture and design of stretch ceilings: how to choose?

The appearance of the ceiling determines the overall impression that will develop from the room.

Textile products in this case will not allow fantasy to roam too much - only fabric texture is available.

True, for all manufacturers it will be slightly different. It is enough to compare, for example, the ceilings of the brands Descor, Clipso, Cerutti - the difference is obvious.

It is much more interesting to engage in the choice of vinyl ceilings. Their main variations are:

  1. Glossy. Shiny surfaces that reflect objects look good in modern interior. Such ceilings visually pull the room up, especially when using competent lighting.

    The main disadvantage is that the seam lines will be more noticeable than on other types of surfaces.

  2. Semi-gloss.

    What stretch ceilings are better to choose?

    Ceilings with a metallized effect are implied. They also reflect the objects in the room and "catch" the glow of the lamps, but to a lesser extent compared to pure gloss. This type of ceiling is recommended to choose if metal parts are “involved” in the design of the room (furniture handles, chrome pipes, etc.).

  3. Matte. A classic option, perfect for any style. The surface does not reflect, creating a smooth and neat ceiling. A subspecies of such ceilings is satin, characterized by a slight mother-of-pearl shade.

When choosing a stretch ceiling according to texture, you should take into account the existing interior conditions and the desired effect.

For example, colored gloss looks great in cafes and bars located in basements and without access to natural light.

At home, such a surface can both “play” successfully and become a real failure: bright walls, reflected in the ceiling, somewhat change its color and in some cases make it heavier. As a rule, gloss is preferred in the design of kitchens, bathrooms and small living rooms.
Matte vinyl is the least risky option in terms of design. It looks especially good in the bedroom, nursery, living room.

The ceiling can become an additional decoration of the room, if you use some "special effects":

  • the starry sky is created using fiber optics and Swarovski crystals.

    A popular theme for children's rooms;

  • photo printing allows you to place any image on the ceiling that will emphasize the desired mood in the room;
  • 3D ceilings make it possible to enliven a room by “launching” ships with wind-blown sails in it or by “planting” luxurious exotic flowers.

Thus, you can visually expand small room and make it more functional.

How to choose stretch ceilings by mounting method

Fabric ceilings are mounted using a harpoonless system. The cutting of the material is carried out after its tension, which makes it impossible to remove and reuse the product.

To install PVC ceilings, one of the following technologies can be used:

There is also a wedge mounting system.

It is much cheaper than harpoon technology, but is associated with a high risk of ceiling sagging, which is why experts do not recommend using it.

The right ceiling can transform the most boring home. You don't have to be afraid to experiment. This is the case when it is almost impossible to miscalculate.
