Drainage of rainwater from the roof is carried out by gutters that provide structures of buildings with protection from negative impact rain and melt water. Arrangement of drains prevents possible flooding of the foundation, collapse of blind areas, damage to the facade of structures.

The gutter is a system with pipes and gutters, whose fastening is made by various fasteners, including couplings and connectors.

In addition to the protective functions, the current roof drains often become an adornment of the facades of building structures.

Types of metal drainage systems

To manufacture metal drainage systems, manufacturers use galvanized iron with a possible additional polymer coating, as well as copper, aluminum and a titanium-zinc compound.

Sample installed drain

The most low-budget method belongs to galvanized steel gutter. True, galvanized steel has a significant drawback, which is expressed in low corrosion resistance. To extend the life of the gutter system made of galvanized metal, it is coated with polymeric substances - plastisol and pural. In addition, these polymers make gutters part of decorative design facades.

One of the most expensive and durable is the water accumulation drain system, which is made of copper.

In addition, if copper is covered with a layer of patina, then the period of its operation increases, the entire gutter structure acquires sophistication and solidity. Often copper gutters are mounted during the arrangement tiled roofs. It is most difficult to install drunken and welded radius gutters along the perimeter of the facades of houses.

If titanium alloys with zinc were used in the manufacture, then such gutter structures are covered with a naturally formed patina, in other words, alkaline zinc carbonate.

The service life of such a drainage system can exceed a hundred years. True, there is the only condition for maintaining such durability - in no case should it come into contact with copper and iron parts, otherwise this may provoke the manifestation of electrical corrosion.

The specifics of installing metal gutters

There are several ways to help you arrange a roof drain with your own hands.

  • The use of a double overlap in the drain system will help to reliably seal the joints between the slope and the wall. For the equipment of the roof drainage system with a slope, the angle of inclination of which exceeds 30 0, corners and covering ebbs are used. For corners, plates are used that are bent at an angle of 90 0. The part that is laid on top of the tiled floor must have a minimum width of 10 cm, the vertical part must be 7.5 cm. The vertically directed section must be pressed against the wall, then blocked with a stepped drain. Then, the upper edge of the corner is bent for its laying in the seams between the masonry, after which it is fixed with wedges and jointed with cement mortar.
  • Installation of drains on the roof, where the covering is profiled tiles, is possible using a single overlap. It is necessary to insert one edge of the metal sheet into the seam between adjacent masonry, the other must be lowered onto the roofing and brought over the next edge of the ridge.
  • It is possible to obtain a drain of the grooves. In some part of tiled roofs, the outflow of water is carried out through the grooved tiles, however, the most common is the fastening of a metal drain gutter to the boardwalk. The sides are formed from these rails, they should be framed with a sheet. Grooved gutters discharge water runoff through parapet or cornice drains.
  • To seal the edge of the top roof structure at the junction with the wall, you need to use apron plums. The edge of the sheet is brought into the seam between the masonry two rows of roofing higher. The width of the drain applied to the roofing is about 150 mm.

Installation of plastic drains and cement

PVC roof drains are included in an affordable price category, have a long service life and convenient assembly. People involved in simple buildings give them the greatest preference.

The complete set of a plastic drain consists of the following:

  • branch pipes,
  • connectors,
  • corner fasteners,
  • fasteners,
  • pipes,
  • gutters,
  • couplings,
  • funnel.

Gutters can be rectangular and round shape. The video shows the installation of round plastic drains:

When you need to install a drain with your own hands, you need to pay attention to the more complex installation of rectangular pipes. However, the rectangular shape of the drainage system gives the external appearance of the buildings a modern appeal. A wide choice of colors allows you to choose a plastic that matches the color of the roofing.

Drain installation diagram

If at the drains square profile, they are recommended for areas with frequent and heavy rainfall due to providing the best drainage.

PVC drain components can be connected with adhesive or elastic rubber connectors. On Russian market preference is given to glue "Molecular welding". It securely connects all closures and joints.

Rubber connectors, on the contrary, quickly age and lose their qualities. The joints are not tight, over time they are filled with leaves and debris, which leads to a violation of the functions of the drainage system.

Reliability and durability of gutters is ensured by stiffening ribs, which have plastic drains for the roof. If the drainage device technology is not followed, there will be no trace of a high level of its performance characteristics.

  • fasteners are installed with a maximum step of 0.6 m;
  • the function of one drain is designed to serve a maximum roof area of 100 m 2;
  • the slope of the drainage pipe at each of its 1 m is 0.5 cm;
  • when connectors, funnels, corners are mounted, the location of the closest fastener is up to 5 cm;
  • to avoid water leaks to the roof, a drain slope of 0.5 cm must be directed away from the wall.

The advantages that a cement roof drain system has are reliability, easy assembly and low price. But there is a drawback: over time, it shrinks.

This drainage system is not popular with Russian builders. Most often they are the property of old houses with pitched roof, where the drain is sealed with cement, tiled plates are laid on top.

Regularity of drain cleaning (video)

Drain debris cleaning

Competently selected structural details and the installation carried out guarantee the working condition of the gutter system. However, many people forget or simply do not attach importance to the fact that roof drain cleaning should be regular, especially in autumn.

Although modern gutter systems are made in such a way that they do not need any painting, other means to protect the gutter from corrosion or some other maintenance. In order for the system to serve for a long time, it must be correctly and carefully transported, installed and cleaned, otherwise the drainage coatings have a chance to become scratched.

  • Clogged roof drains can be prevented with special nets to form a barrier to leaves and other blockages. With insufficient effectiveness of preventive prophylaxis, the removal of leaves should be carried out with a water jet under strong pressure.
  • You can save the productivity of the gutter system if you install an anti-icing structure with cables, temperature and humidity sensors.
  • Interesting way of serving drainage systems is a specially designed robot. It ensures the efficiency and safety of cleaning gutters that are very high above the ground. The robot moves back and forth, can recognize and analyze the dirt characteristics, count the number of required passes and cleaning frequency.

This video shows how the rainwater drain from the roof is cleared of blockages with a special device:

To preserve the attractiveness of the facades of houses, to prevent the blind areas from collapsing, to form flooded and wetlands, one should not neglect the rules of transportation and installation, and in particular the periodic cleaning of the drainage system.

How to install a drain in the bathroom with your own hands - detailed instructions

Proper installation of a do-it-yourself bathroom drain allows you to minimize the possibility of overflowing the water bowl in the bathroom. water procedures. This room needs to be kept in order, as water can fill the tub faster than it drains. However, there is not only the possibility of flooding the floor, but also flooding the neighbors. The piping or drain-overflow system allows you to organize the drainage of water from the bath into the sewer channel.

Standard drain design and semi-automatic

The design includes several tubes with hoses connected to the sewer pipe system, as well as 2 bath openings:

The top drain is provided to regulate the volume of water in the bath and reduce the chance of overflow. Another hole is located at the bottom of the bowl, it performs the function of draining. The following items are included with the standard drain model:

  • siphon in the form of a pipe;
  • necks for drain and overflow;
  • a tube for connecting the siphon to the sewerage system;
  • corrugated hose for overflowing water into the siphon.

The siphon, or pipe, is a shutter against the penetration of pungent odors into the apartment from the sewer in the bathroom. To fill the bowl with water, you will need to cover the hole from the bottom with a cork. Proper operation of the drain system requires the timely replacement of seals that have already worn out. The semiautomatic device differs from the standard overflow model in a modernized design that includes all of the listed elements, as well as additional ones:

  1. Plug-valve.
  2. The cable responsible for controlling the cork.
  3. Rotary ring, valve, button, handle.
  4. A mechanism that allows you to lower and raise the cork.

For the whole system to work, the cable must be stretched and loosened. This is done by turning the valve or pressing a special button. In the design of the semi-automatic device, the drain-overflow hole is located behind the control unit.

Among the advantages of this system is the design and convenient operation of the structure. The disadvantage of the semi-automatic system is its not too high level of reliability.

Automatic drain device

If the budget allows, you can buy an expensive automatic model. It will also be beneficial to purchase an inexpensive standard model. Prices for automatic constructions are $20-55. Distinctive feature automatic mechanism is associated with the presence of a special valve. After pressing it, the plug automatically closes the drain hole in the tank.

The provided lock of the valve allows to keep its position. To drain the water, you need to press the button. Automatic lowering and raising of the valve occurs as a result of spring compression. The automatic drain system has the following main features:

  1. Drainage is controlled by feet.
  2. The visible part has a compact size.
  3. The presence of a large assortment of buttons.

The automatic drainage system is often used to equip baths for children. As a result, the water container does not need to be turned over manually to drain the water. The main disadvantage of an automatic bathroom drain and overflow device is the difficulty of replacing the button.

If a valve breaks down, the system is completely renewed. This is a rather serious drawback, since the price of an automatic bathroom drain device ranges from $ 60-280.

Replacing an old siphon and caring for it

If a puddle of water regularly appears on the floor in the bathroom after it does not drain completely into the sewer system, this means that the siphon has begun to leak. In this situation, you can not hesitate, that is, you will need to immediately start replacing the old siphon with a new part.

Otherwise, a breakdown will lead to the appearance of mold due to an increase in the level of humidity, there will be bad smell and many other problems. Replacing the siphon and connecting the bath to the sewer with your own hands is done in the following sequence:

  1. The worn-out drainage system is being dismantled.
  2. The presence of burrs at the location of the neck is checked.
  3. The rubber gasket is installed.
  4. The drain pipe is pressed tightly against the gasket with the back.
  5. The gasket is placed on the front side of the siphon.
  6. A screw is inserted and carefully tightened.
  7. The drain and overflow neck is reinforced with corrugation.
  8. The siphon is connected to corrugated hoses.
  9. The hose discharged into the sewer is fixed to the siphon with a union nut.

The installed system does not require special care, so just read some tips to keep your drain in perfect order:

  • semi-automatic and automatic require periodic processing of parts, which allows you to maintain the shine of the metal;
  • regular inspections are organized in order to identify possible leaks;
  • broken sealing requires changing the seal or tightening the joints;
  • a clogged siphon is cleaned with a plunger or with a small brush attached to a wire;
  • elimination of blockages is carried out with the help of alkali contained in chemicals.

The listed measures are applied when there are problems with blockages, so the system needs periodic inspection and prevention.

What to pay attention to

From the very beginning, you need to figure out how to remove old siphon. To do this, you need to have a set of wrenches for clamping nuts. They are easily unscrewed with a tool, and the entire system is disassembled into a certain number of component parts.

A mandatory element is the draining of water, which performs the function of a water seal by unscrewing the plug. In some cases, the nuts "grow" to the thread and it is almost impossible to unscrew them manually. Here the Bulgarian will come to the rescue.

Before you remove the old siphon yourself, you need to familiarize yourself with the drain diagram in the bathroom. To unscrew the clamping nuts, you will need to use a set of wrenches, which will make it easy to disassemble the old system for a certain amount constituent parts. In the process of fastening the drain and overflow neck, it is necessary to tighten the screw. It is important not to damage the element by calculating your forces.

In order for the fastening of parts to be reliable and there to be no leakage, silicone sealant will be required to coat the joints. It is necessary to use it before starting the assembly, since it is able to dry quickly. Drain replacement can be performed in a supine or sitting position.

When replacing a siphon, one should remember the rule, which is that the tightness of the tank will depend on the quality of work. Only a well-made repair will solve the problem with the drain. Expert advice will help you figure out how to properly replace the siphon yourself.

Proper installation of a drain in a bathroom requires the following recommendations:

  1. When carrying out work, the sequence must be observed.
  2. Seals will be required to process various joints.
  3. In the process of twisting parts, care must be taken.
  4. Tightening the threaded elements by hand ends with tightening them 1/4 of a full turn.

Connecting the bathroom to the sewer requires even tightening of the nut, so its stability should be checked every time. Do-it-yourself installation of the siphon in the bathroom should be started only after the bowl is securely fixed, which, if necessary, will need to be leveled and fixed. There should be a gap of 15 cm or more between the tank and the floor.

Rain is not always good. For example, during precipitation, water flowing from the roof of buildings can greatly harm them. Falling streams and even drops eventually knock out potholes in the blind area. Water soaked into the ground near the house can flood the foundation or basement. To avoid all these troubles, moisture must be removed, for this purpose plums from roofs are used. They can be performed in various variations, but serve one purpose - to protect the building from destruction. In this article we will talk about how to install plums on the roof on your own.

What elements are included in the drain system

Gutter elements

Before you install a drain on the roof, you should find out what elements it consists of. The drainage system includes:

  • Gutters. This, one might say, is the main element of the entire system. Water enters the gutter directly from the roof, then it flows to the drain. The drain itself is made in the form of a funnel, which is also part of the system. The gutters can be made from various materials and have different shapes.
  • Gutter connectors. Roof length may vary. The gutters themselves, if they are factory-made, have a certain length. As a rule, you can find products up to 2.5 meters. To create a system, use special devices- connectors. At the corners, other designs are used - corner gutters.
  • Brackets and other fastening devices. Serve for fixing gutters and pipes.
  • Drain pipe. It is into it that water from the gutters enters. The pipe can be both straight and be made in the form of a knee.

Types of gutters

In addition to these basic elements, others can be used. For example, mesh on gutters. It prevents large debris from entering the drain and prevents blockages from forming.

In regions with cold winters, it is worth considering anti-icing systems. They may include heating cables, temperature sensors and other devices.

Gutter types and material used

Plastic

On sale you can find gutters and pipes of various diameters. So, the first ones are produced in the range from 90 to 150 mm. Pipes can be purchased with a diameter of 75 to 120 mm. The choice of dimensions will depend on the dimensions of the roof. If the slope area is less than 70 m 2, then you can purchase gutters and pipes of the smallest diameter.

In addition to the sizes and shapes themselves (square, round and others), the elements of the drain differ in the material used. Mostly metal and plastic.

PVC drain elements have recently become the most common. Thanks to special coverage(acrylic or titanium dioxide), such products are not afraid of temperature changes, moisture and sun rays. The service life of gutters and pipes made of plastic is about 50 years. Another plus is the low cost.

Metal

There are several types of metal gutters and pipes for drains. Let's list the main ones. Namely:

  • Cink Steel. This material has often been used in the past. But recently, galvanized steel has begun to be replaced by an analogue with a pural coating. This is due to the long service life of the latter. Galvanized iron itself quickly fails under the influence of acid rain. But such material still remains in demand due to its cheapness.
  • Aluminum. Gutters and pipes made of this metal are light and quite durable. Such products last much longer than galvanized steel, but are also more expensive.
  • Copper. Such products are considered the most durable. In addition, they give the roof a sophisticated look. But copper is a very expensive metal, so such gutters are not available to everyone. When installing copper gutters and pipes, it is important to consider one feature. If the roof is made of any metal or there are other metal elements, then such products cannot be installed. The fact is that water, flowing down on another metal and falling on copper, will lead to corrosion of the latter.
  • Titanium zinc. This is the most expensive option for elements of plumbing systems. Such gutters can last a century and a half or more.

Roof drain installation

Location options

All work can be done in any season, but it is best to do it in the warm season. In summer, everything can be done much faster and better.

  • Before you make a drain on the roof, it is worth doing the calculations necessary materials. Decide where the drain pipes will be located, how many gutters, brackets, connectors and other elements are needed. It is best to make a preliminary plan and drawing.
  • Then start attaching the brackets. It is important to correctly calculate the distance. The fact is that the gutters should not be located close to the wall. If the distance between them is less than 6–8 cm, then the wall may get wet not even from water, but from condensate.
  • Also, when mounting the brackets, it is necessary to maintain the slope of the gutters. It should go to the drain pipe and be 5-20 mm per meter. Therefore, the brackets are not attached in a straight line, but with an offset.
  • Before attaching, it is worth making a markup. To do this, you can do some calculations. For example, if the length of the slope is 8 m, and we will make the slope 10 mm per meter, then the offset between the first and last bracket should be 80 mm.
  • If the length of the roof is significant, then it is necessary to make two drain pipes, they will be located at the edges. In this case, the slope will start in the middle and go in different directions.
  • The first and last bracket is attached first. Then a thread is pulled between them, and the remaining brackets are mounted using self-tapping screws. Between the brackets it is necessary to maintain a step of 40-70 cm, depending on the weight of the gutters. Do not forget that the gutters will be attached to each other, which means that there should not be a bracket in this place.
  • Then the gutters are installed. The method of their installation depends on the model. End caps are installed. The last step will be the installation of pipes. Its neck should be directly under the drain of the gutter. Pipes are attached to the wall on special holders or clamps.
  • A drain elbow is installed at the end of the pipes. Through it, water from the roof will be diverted away from the walls and foundation. If the site provides drainage system, then the knee should be directed to the water inlet.

How to install drains on the roof - installation of drains

In this article you will find information on installing roof drains. Learn how to properly install a gutter system.

Sink drain: assembly and installation of a drain with overflow

Sink drain like any other plumbing equipment vulnerable to breakage. Its installation is a simple procedure, for the sake of which it makes no sense to invite a professional plumber. How the drain for the sink is arranged and what nuances to take into account when installing the device, we will consider in more detail.

Purpose and design features

A sink drain in a bathroom or kitchen with an overflow is a curved design whose key purpose is to redirect excess water into the sewer, thereby preventing the sink bowl from overflowing.

The device of the drain system is almost identical for both the sink and the bathtub.

Structurally, the overflow drain for a sink or sink consists of the following elements:

  • siphon with water seal - is a "U"-shaped element that performs a dual task: it prevents the exhalation of a fetid odor from the sewer and protects the drain pipe located below from clogging.
  • drain pipe - made of corrugated or rigid plastic pipe and is designed to redirect wastewater to the sewer system.

The main secret of the functionality of the siphon is in its design. Due to the bend, the water does not completely leave the pipe. The formed water seal acts as an obstacle to the penetration of sewer "ambre" into the drain hole.

Such structures are convenient in that in case of clogging, it will not be difficult to remove and clean them mechanically or chemically.

Do you want to install a more durable device that is not so afraid of clogging? In this case, it is better to purchase a design in the form of an overflow drain for the sink. It differs from traditional models in that it is equipped with an additional tube.

This device connects the hole made in the upper side of the rim of the bowl with the elements of the drain system located in front of the siphon. This allows the overflow to divert liquid from the sink, thus preventing the bowl from overflowing.

From the outside, the drain hole is covered with a grill. It performs a protective function, retaining small debris and hair, thereby protecting the system from clogging.

The main types of drain devices

There are several types of drainage systems. One of the most common options is a design in which the drain is fastened with a large locking nut. This fastening method can be found even in the bathrooms of houses built more than two decades ago.

Classification according to the principle of the device

Drain siphon systems used when connecting sinks are of three types: flask-shaped, knee and combined. They differ in the type of construction:

  1. Bottle or flask. The main structural elements are two cylinders immersed in each other. A tee is installed inside the flask of the device, distributing the liquid and forming a hydraulic barrier.
  2. Pipe. The main element of the double-turn design is the “S” or “U”-shaped bend of the pipe, which forms the hydraulic barrier.
  3. Mixed devices. Apart from structural elements bottle design, supplemented by two partitions, they are equipped with a corrugated hose.

In bottle-type devices, the effluents entering the siphon move down the inner pipe of a smaller diameter. Having reached the bottom, the drains rise through the cavity between the inner and outer cylinder and are discharged into the sewer pipe.

Bottle siphons are advantageous in that even with a rare use of a plumbing fixture, the water seal in the system does not dry out for quite a long time. This effect is achieved due to the fact that the output from the siphon is placed approximately in the middle of the flask.

Many owners prefer bottle-type siphons for the reason that, if necessary, several drains can always be connected to them. To do this, the design only needs to be equipped with an additional element.

Unlike analogs of bottle and pipe execution among combined options there are no models with sockets, and therefore overflow systems and household appliances cannot be attached to them.

Division by material of manufacture

There are two types of sink drains available for sale, depending on the material of manufacture: those made of polymers and those made of metal alloys.

Polymer products are famous for their low price and ease of installation. Structures equipped with a corrugated pipe can be conveniently adjusted in length.

But the service life PVC designs relatively short. And the sealing properties of the assembled structures leave much to be desired. Therefore, all docking elements must be equipped with rubber gaskets during assembly.

In terms of reliability and durability, metal elements of drain systems are more beneficial. Models made of non-ferrous metals are most in demand in domestic use: brass and bronze. The harness made of such materials often has a chrome finish, due to which it acquires a rather presentable appearance.

To prevent the accumulation of dirt deposits on inner surface during the manufacturing process, manufacturers cover metal products with a protective chromium film.

Installation metal structures presents no particular difficulty. A hitch can only occur at a stage if you need to shorten the outlet pipe.

Siphons for non-standard equipment

For non-standard models of double "paired" sinks, siphons equipped with two outlets are used. Such siphon devices are connected to the drains of both sinks, and a little lower along the drain of the waste water, they are combined into a common flask.

Do you need to connect a sink located on an open shelf to communications? Then choose a model that involves hidden installation. Yes, it will cost a bit more. traditional options, but it will allow you to completely hide the unaesthetic elements of communications.

It is not difficult to hide the drain systems of such structures in a niche, covering them with a decorative screen. But it is worth remembering that if the bend of the outlet pipe turns out to be too short, there is a high risk of an unpleasant sewer "aroma".

Overflow drain installation technology

There is nothing complicated in installing an overflow drain on your own. Instructions are usually included with each device. It contains information about the sequence in which the structure should be assembled.

Selection of necessary materials and tools

With all the variety of models of drainage equipment, the technology for their installation is almost identical. Therefore, even if a drain system, for example, a bottle type, was installed on your plumbing fixture, you can easily replace it with the same combined version.

The standard siphon package includes the following items:

  • body of the device;
  • outlet pipe;
  • decorative overlay on drain;
  • plastic and rubber cuffs;
  • connecting nuts and screws;
  • rubber flat gaskets.

To better understand the sequence in which you need to assemble the structure, lay out all the elements of the siphon on a table or on the floor.

System installation cannot be completed without a set of necessary tools. For work you will need:

  • flat screwdriver;
  • wrench;
  • FUM tape;
  • sealant;
  • container for collecting water;
  • cotton fabric.

If in the process of work you need to cut pipes and corrugations to the desired size, prepare a tape measure and a hacksaw in advance. For grinding the edges of the pipe - sandpaper.

Dismantling the old siphon

To remove the outdated siphon device, you need to unscrew the screw installed in the center in the grate located in the drain hole.

Often, the screw and nut of the drain grate “stick” to each other during operation. If you can’t unscrew them in any way, then first dismantle the lower part of the siphon, leaving the upper pipe intact. By rotating this part, you will help free the dried nut and screw.

From the moment the old siphon is dismantled until the new equipment is connected, it is better to “clog” the sewer socket with a rag or cork of the appropriate size.

Assembly of structural elements

When installing a pipe drain system, the assembly of the structure can be performed during the installation process, sequentially “stringing” all the elements. If you have to work with a flask-shaped system, before you assemble such a drain for the sink, you need to carry out a number of preparatory work.

First of all, the device is placed under the bowl and a preliminary fitting is performed in order to make sure that the dimensions match. After that, the reliability of fastening of the bottom plug is checked. To do this, the cork is unscrewed along the thread and inspected for chips and other flaws in the rubber seal. This step should not be neglected, since the bottom plug constantly takes on the pressure of the system.

If burrs are found on the surface, they can be cut off with a sharply sharpened knife. If not removed, they may damage the O-ring during installation.

After making sure that the gaskets and the threaded connection are installed, they begin to assemble the flask. The work is carried out in several stages:

  1. Putting a rubber gasket on the thread of the device, screw the bottom.
  2. A gasket is put on the ends of the spout tube, and a tightening nut on top.
  3. Inserting the end of the spout tube into the hole in the upper part of the siphon body, fix it in a predetermined position by tightening the nut.
  4. Having equipped the cover of the device with a rubber gasket, the drain is screwed to the body with a nut.

To increase the reliability of the connection, the ring gasket inserted into the groove must be coated with a sealing compound. They should also cover the lower part of the threaded connection.

After that, the sink is installed on the seat and proceed to the installation of the drain device.

Overflow assembly features

When dealing with models equipped with overflows, before assembling this element, you need to determine the height of the tube. This parameter must correspond to the depth of the bowl. If everything matches, the tube is connected at a given height to the main pipe.

If the overflow pipe is a prefabricated structure, then its height can be easily adjusted according to the principle of telescopic expansion. The corrugated pipe is simply stretched to the required length and bent in the right place.

When fixing the overflow pipe to the sink, do not forget to lay the rubber gasket that comes with the kit between the surfaces. The place of connection of the outlet with the overflow pipe is fixed with a clamping nut. In order not to damage the connection, the nut is tightened by hand, without applying much effort.

Installation of a drain device

Before connecting assembled structure To waste system, the surface of the sink in the area of the drain hole is thoroughly degreased and cleaned. During the installation process, the first step is to combine a protective grill equipped with 5-6 divisions with the drain hole of the bowl.

The upper end of the outlet pipe is equipped with a rubber gasket and docked with a hole in the sink. Firmly pressing the upper side of the pipe to the drain, fix it with a D6 mm screw inserted into the protective grille.

The thread into which it must go deep is pressed into the body of the nozzle itself. When tightening the screw with a flathead screwdriver, it is important to achieve as tight a fit as possible while avoiding turning the flange and gasket.

A chamfer is removed from the lower end of the pipe. This is necessary in order to ensure the free installation of the end of the pipe into the siphon cavity. A plastic coupling nut is “strung” onto the outlet pipe, placing it with the thread down, and a conical gasket, laying it with the wide side to the nut. Then dock it with the outlet pipe, not forgetting to seal the connection.

To dock the outlet pipe with a sewer pipe, the diameter of which is traditionally 50 mm, an installation rubber cuff is used. In order for it to tightly cover the pipe, thereby preventing the spread of sewer "aromas", use a product whose inner diameter is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the outlet pipe.

Tip: if the outlet diameter does not match the size of the sewer pipe, use a ready-made plastic adapter.

The corrugated siphon is as simple as possible to connect. It is equipped with two rigid pipes at both ends. To connect it, you just need to attach it to the outlet, then stretch it a little and give the desired bend. After that, bring the second pipe to the sewer.

System health check

At the final stage, it remains only to check the tightness of the connections and the performance of the system. To do this, the floor area under the siphon is covered with a piece of cotton napkin or a paper sheet. Some craftsmen for this purpose substitute a container under the siphon.

Open the faucet and watch how the water goes into the drain hole and, passing through the siphon, descends into the sewer.

If there are no leaks at the junctions and no drops appear on the napkin, the work is done with high quality. If any are found, the nuts are tightened more tightly, and the connection is additionally sealed.

Installation technology of branched siphons, allowing connection to a common drain washing machines, is practically no different. The only difference is that flexible hoses coming from household appliances are additionally screwed to the outlets of the structure.
