Blinds, which even 10 years ago looked like a real foreign exotic, today have firmly entered our lives. Most office spaces and institutions have moved from using standard curtains to universal blinds, which are less dusty, look stricter and are incredibly comfortable.

Blinds are used even in rooms made in classical style, because their functionality, ease of care and appearance are on top. In addition, blinds provide effective protection spaces from sunlight, allow you to easily adjust the level of illumination in the room, reliably shield the room from prying eyes.

The installation of blinds must be carried out in accordance with all the rules, otherwise you risk getting a lot of problems: the canvases will not move, it will be difficult to assemble the curtain, etc. Quality installation provides blinds durability of service life. When installing, you need to take into account the design features, the specifics of the walls (or window frames) in the room.

PVC window companies offer blinds in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Depending on destination, blinds are made from:

By type of blinds are:

These types differ significantly in the location of the lamellas and installation methods.

Vertical blinds are a rarity in ordinary residential areas, they are more often used in offices. They are mounted above the top edge of the window, similar to curtains, although this may adversely affect their functionality. And roller blinds and horizontal blinds are more often used at home instead of traditional curtains. Their installation is carried out not only in the window opening, but also on top of the window.

Roller blinds are mounted on the front surface of the corner of the upper slope of the window profile.

Blinds with horizontal slats can be mounted directly on the window profile, on each sash. Often, horizontal slats are complemented by curtains with curtains. Installing blinds directly on the window profile saves usable space in the room itself and frees up space on the windowsill.

Blinds are made up of:

For windows of a non-standard shape, it is necessary to use lamellas of a special length, which will best ensure the light protection of the room.

If your window has two sashes, then when installing the blinds, pay attention to the location of the blinds lifting mechanism (right, left).

Three ways to install blinds:

  • overlay;
  • for each window sash separately;
  • directly into the window opening.

A factory set of blinds usually includes all the materials for their installation: screws and self-tapping screws, as well as other details.

The choice of installation option is associated with the design features of the window: it is a little easier to install blinds on standard double-leaf windows than on inclined roof windows. One of the most difficult is the installation of blinds on PVC windows, since working with plastic, compared to, say, with wood, has a number of specific features. The installation of the cornice on plastic windows should be carried out as carefully as possible and it is better to do this in the warm season (at temperatures above +5 degrees Celsius).

The installation of the blinds on the window sash can be carried out using self-tapping screws, brackets or by drilling holes in the frame. It is the most durable and reliable.

Important! The tightness of the profile when attaching the cornice of the blinds to it with the help of drilling does not suffer. If it becomes necessary to remove the cornice, and holes remain in the frame, they can be filled with white silicone sealant.

If you do not want to drill holes, use brackets that are attached to the frame without drilling.

Important! In most cases, blinds can be fixed with screws that are already in the window profile. This installation method is no less reliable than drilling holes. You can learn about the possibility of such a simple installation from the blinds instructions.

Blinds installation progress

After unpacking the blinds, read the instructions. Installing blinds means: measuring the window and adjusting the dimensions of the blinds to it; then install the fasteners for the cornice and the cord system; collect the strips on the eaves and check the performance of the system.

Measurements are necessary in order to subsequently make it convenient to use the light-protective sheet, without complaining about distortions or frequent breakdowns. It is especially important to verify the dimensions of the paintings and adjust them to the place of attachment if the window opening has a specific geometric shape.

Before screwing, you need to mark the position of the fasteners with a pencil, checking them with a level and a tape measure, in order to avoid skewed fit and leave room for adjusting the container, and also so that the strips do not extend beyond the window glass.

2. Installing the cornice and slats

Before installation and direct installation, it is necessary to mark the fasteners with maximum accuracy and symmetry. For the adjusting cord, additional fastening must be provided so that the structure can withstand the additional load. All elements are fixed to the wall with screws or dowels. Next is the installation of the eaves. The lamellas and runners themselves will be attached to it. The rigidity of the structure is guaranteed by the upper eaves bar, so there is no need to additionally strengthen the bar with glue, sealant or foam - it is fixed quite rigidly.

When reinstalling, you need to measure the width of each window sash so that the window fittings do not interfere with the free hanging of the slats. Also, when choosing the installation “in the window opening”, you need to reduce the height of 2 cm on each side so that the canvas does not touch the window sill. To fix the blinds close to the plastic window, you need to drill the plastic frame of the window according to the marking - pre-drilling will prevent the plastic from cracking.

If the plates on which the blinds are hung do not fit snugly against the window profile, use linings.

Brackets for blinds are screwed into the holes with self-tapping screws. Next, the brackets need to be fixed upward with latches and insert a container with blinds into them.

The lower holders are attached as follows: lower the curtain to mark the lower points (the canvas should be loosely stretched). According to these marks, drill holes into which you need to screw the lower holders that fix the canvas in the “micro-ventilation” position. Make sure the staples are firmly seated in the plastic.

When installing overlay, add 5 cm in width so that the entire opening is closed. The height is adjustable arbitrarily and can reach the window sill or the floor itself.

There are a number modern ways installation of blinds, involving the installation of a cornice with lamellas on brackets attached to the window frame without drilling. The striped cornice is simply hung on the brackets and snapped into place. The design is collapsible, which allows you to remove the blinds when you need to wash the window glass or wipe the slats. This is the easiest way to install blinds.

Features of mounting blinds by type

Vertical blinds

Before installation vertical blinds you need to decide whether it will be more convenient wall or ceiling mount for the cornice. The height of the light-protective fabric depends on the place where the cornice is attached.

The thickness of the guide for vertical blinds should be at least 5-6 cm, such a gap will ensure free movement of the slats. If there is an obstacle between the blinds and the wall (batteries, etc.), then you will need to install an additional bracket, which is not included in the kit, you need to buy it separately.

If you want the blinds to be at some distance from the wall (cases are different: a pipe, etc.), you must additionally purchase a bracket

For vertical blinds, the order in which the slats are hung is also important: they must be attached to the cornice in the same order that was in the factory box. Also, before starting the installation, it is necessary to determine the correct direction of the suspensions. Correct position when closed you can't see the seam on the blinds material.

Don't forget to place the bottom weights on the vertical strips to keep the canvas looking flat. Loads from the outer and inner sides are interconnected by a chain. The plumb line is attached to the cord, which is included in the kit. Different manufacturers use plumb lines of different shapes.

There are a wide variety of vertical blind mounts available in stores, but they are very often unreliable. It will be most reliable to mount the blinds using a pair of brackets that need to be screwed to the wall with self-tapping screws.

Roller and horizontal blinds

Horizontal and roller blinds, as well as vertical ones, are equally conveniently mounted on a wall, attached to a window or ceiling. The main thing is to clearly measure whether the canvases will interfere with opening the window. If this happens, in the strips, if possible, you need to cut a hole in advance for comfortable opening of the window sashes.

When attached to double sided tape do not forget to qualitatively dedust and degrease the surface.

You have convinced yourself that self-assembly Blinds are easy enough if you know a few tricks to make the process easier. Good luck with your DIY blinds!

Even 10-20 years ago there was no choice of window coverings - only massive curtains and curtains were hung on the windows. Progress does not stand still, and last years there are new types of window curtains. The most popular now are blinds. In apartments, you can often see a combination of blinds + Roman blinds and blinds + curtain. This method of curtaining protects housing from the sun, street noise and is able to decorate the window. Increasingly, instead of heavy curtains and curtains, compact roller blinds and blinds are used in everyday life. They are much better suited to metal-plastic window frames. They are used in both offices and residential areas.

Types of blinds

Designers bring to life a variety of solutions that have no analogues. There are the following types of blinds:

  • plastic;
  • wooden;
  • fabric.

Installing blinds on a plastic window is a job that requires preparation. The installation process will depend on the type and shape of this product. Note that blinds are classified according to their shape:

  1. Horizontal.
  2. Vertical.
  3. Roll.

Horizontal are most suitable for living quarters. They do not take up space under the windows, they can be mounted both inside and outside the sash. Can be combined with curtains different sizes and styles.

Vertical blinds look best in office spaces. Their feature is that they can be mounted directly to the ceiling. They can visually increase the space, suitable for rooms with low ceilings.

Roller blinds have an extensive palette of colors that can decorate any room. Made of fabric, the easiest way to clean from dust and dirt. You can attach them in several ways.

In the CIS, most often you can find blinds made in China, Belarus and Russia in stores. Since the bulk of the population has plastic windows, especially in cities, it is necessary to study the information on how to properly mount them. Consider several options for how to attach them to the windows with your own hands, so as not to damage the window structures.

Standard installation of blinds on plastic windows

Blinds can be attached different ways. It can be:

  • drilling installation;
  • using double-sided tape;
  • with the help of magnets;
  • using brackets.

When buying, instructions are attached on how to hang blinds on plastic windows yourself. Basically advice is given on how to mount them by drilling windows. In this case, fastening is carried out to the window frame above the double-glazed window. You need to carefully study the instructions and carefully take measurements.

Blinds are installed in the following ways:

  • in the opening of a plastic window;
  • overlay;
  • for each half of the window separately.

Important! Before buying blinds for two window halves, make sure that the lifting mechanism is on the left and right sides. Otherwise, cords from different halves will interfere with each other.

Mounting blinds on windows using drilling is not suitable if you plan to change the type of curtain. After drilling, traces will remain on the window profile, and this will be noticeable. Blinds are fastened with screws, and at the moment this is the most reliable type of fastening.

Consider how to hang horizontal blinds on windows in more detail. The process can be divided into the following steps:

  1. We retreat 5-6 cm from both sides and outline the place for attaching the blinds. At this stage, you need to measure the distance very accurately, because with an error of even a couple of millimeters, your blinds will hang askew and will soon fail.
  2. We make holes for the brackets with a screwdriver, paying attention to whether the sash will open or not. If the window will open, then the hole is made in the upper part of the sash, if it is deaf, then on the outside.
  3. After inserting the blinds into the brackets, it is enough to snap them into place.
  4. On the side of the sash, you need to make a hole for the latch.
  5. Check how the mechanism works, whether it is convenient for you.

Vertical blinds are a little easier to install, you should do the following procedures:

  1. We make markings for the brackets, retreating 10 cm from the edge of the eaves.
  2. We drill holes and insert dowels into them. After that we fix the brackets.
  3. Fastenings together with lamellas are installed on the eaves.
  4. We assemble the runners, fasten them to the canvas, after that we fasten the weights in the lower part of the lamellae.
  5. You can check the operation of vertical blinds.

Brackets can be glued on double-sided tape if you do not want to spoil the window profile. If extra holes remain after drilling the window, they can always be removed with acrylic sealant.

If you purchased roller blinds, then you can use a different installation method to install them.

Alternative mounting types

It is not necessary to drill a window to attach the blind base. There are other options for attaching blinds to windows. To install roller blinds, you will need the following tools:

  • Double-sided tape;
  • liquid Nails;
  • scissors;
  • ruler or level.

Roller blinds are a smooth canvas that can be rolled up, raised, lowered using a special mechanism. Roller blinds do an excellent job of protecting against scorching sun rays, at the same time I decorate the living space Let's consider how to fix roller blinds on plastic windows. This type of curtains is hooked separately to each window sash. Roller blinds come in several types, and the method of fastening each type may vary.

The Mini roller system is a classic roller blind on a compact shaft. They can be easily installed on individual plastic window sashes. Fasteners are fixed without drilling, and thanks to this the frame remains intact. To prevent the fabric from sagging, the lower metal rail should be fixed using special magnetic holders. The sash can be opened in any way.

Cassette roller blinds are roller blinds that are assembled into a cornice that looks like a compact cassette. This type of curtain is suitable for flaps, plastic or aluminum. The most popular curtain options are Rollite and Uni systems. In models of these designs, strips for double-sided tape are provided. With the help of these strips, the guides are glued to the sash.

Cassette blinds are controlled by a single chain, which regulates the height of the curtain. On window frame a special latch is installed that keeps the chain from sagging when the window is ventilated.

Isotra and Isolite systems are also popular. A plastic window with this type of blinds can be used in any mode without fear of breaking this system. Fastening is carried out on glazing beads, in which it will be necessary to make small holes. If these glazing beads are damaged, they can be quickly and easily replaced at any time.

Interestingly, the method of attaching blinds to the wall is still used. This type of installation does not harm the plastic window, you just need to make the right measurements.

Marking before installation

In the question of how to hang blinds on plastic windows, one of the main points is the correct measurements of the window and the design of the blinds. You need to take measurements before going to the store. The main thing is to keep the optimal distance along the edges of the markup, armed with a ruler with a pencil. It’s even better to mark on the window itself with a pencil using a level, in this case you don’t need to rely on your personal feelings and measure by eye. It is necessary to mark the fasteners symmetrically from all sides. When installed inside the window opening, our design should not reach 3 cm. When installed on top, the window should protrude at the edges no more than 5 cm. The height should be 3-4 cm more.

It happens that the mounting plates do not fit snugly to window profile. In this case, special linings are used, which, depending on the gap, are used in different quantities - from one to four pieces.

It is necessary to measure the height and width of the window along the light opening to the edge of the sealing rubber bands. Then measure the depth of the bead from the glass to the outer surface of the profile. It is necessary to take into account the presence window fittings so that it does not interfere with the operation of the blinds. If you make the wrong measurements, then unnecessary sunlight will break through the cracks in the blinds.

The Holis and Magnum system is used to fasten horizontal plastic blinds.

Before installing blinds, you need to prepare window openings. They must be even and clean. Ideally, they should be degreased.

Remember, with the slightest mistake in measuring and installing fasteners, there is a big risk of spoiling both the windows and the structures themselves. Do-it-yourself installation of blinds should be treated with more care and attention, as this is a very painstaking work.

How to choose blinds

When choosing blinds for your apartment, you need to carefully select the material, color and texture in order to harmoniously fit this type of curtain into the living space. If you have a glazed balcony, then plastic or aluminum blinds will be the only right decision for balcony windows.

An important advantage of blinds is their compactness, heat and sound insulation. When using this type of curtains, your window sill is freed. You can save a lot on electricity consumption, as the blinds protect the living space from excess sunlight and heat. In summer, the air conditioner will operate in a more economical mode. Now you can buy designs not only from plastic and aluminum, but from bamboo and wood.

Vertical blinds are often treated with special dust-repellent solutions. This design can be rolled up and washed in washing machine or hands.

Enough interesting view for decorating the interior with pleated curtains. Pleated blinds are made of pleated fabric and are attached directly to the window. Close such curtains with a cord.

The most refined and expensive look of wooden blinds. Wooden plates do not rattle, have a natural structure, protect the room from light and do not heat up. They ennoble the room and fit into any interior, suitable for both offices and bedrooms. They are made from Canadian linden and cork varieties.

You can also choose multiimpressive blinds - a combination of plastic and fabric. vertical plastic blinds make curly, because of this, the whole room is filled with a variety of light reflections. They are like curtains made of airy fabrics.

A novelty on the market - photo-blinds. Any pattern is applied to the white slats, and when opening the blinds, you can admire a beautiful picture.

Japanese curtains - a combination of several fabric panels made from fabrics or plastics. They move along the eaves with different guides, they can move and move apart.

You can always change the outfit for your windows by buying new blinds - and you have a room updated without repair. Be careful when choosing the color of the curtains, paying attention to the colors of the furniture in the room.

Installing blinds is more practical way close or decorate windows than buying bulky tiered curtains. The advantage of this option, at least, is that it is much easier to clean the blinds from dust or household dirt - they weigh less than a cornice with curtains, but they cost an order of magnitude cheaper. The editors of the publication suggest that you familiarize yourself with all the nuances of installing blinds before buying.

The practicality and ease of use of the blinds is manifested even at the stage of choosing the mounting option.

There are several ways to close a window with blinds:

  • Blinds installation directly in window opening(only if the window of this room is recessed into the wall)
Installation of blinds in beige in the interior from Metro Cabinet Company An alternative to the usual blinds from Shelly's Interior Concepts

In this case, choose blinds of a smaller width than the window opening (an average of 3-4 cm from the total width of the opening). The difference is needed to place fasteners on both sides of the window. The height of the design is chosen arbitrarily. To ensure that nothing interferes with the free opening of the window, measure the blind system in the raised state and retreat the same amount from the top of the opening up to the ceiling.

  • Installing blinds above the window opening (if the window is slightly recessed into the wall)

By choosing this installation option, you can block not only the window, but also part of the wall near the window opening, further darkening the room. The width is chosen arbitrarily, however, the minimum margin for overlapping width must be at least 10 cm (5 cm for each side of the window).

It is important to choose the height of the structure correctly: it should be equal to the height of the window opening +10 cm. During installation, the blinds take into account the possibility of opening the window when the structure is fully raised.

  • Installation of blinds in window sashes

This option will require two systems instead of one. They are installed on the window sashes so that each element can be used separately. With this installation option, you can simultaneously leave one section of the window for ventilation without lifting them from the second section or partially illuminate the room.

IMPORTANT! With this installation option, the system should not overlap the window handle.

  • Installing blinds above the window opening if the window is mounted flush with the walls of the house

Since in this installation option the window handle protrudes deep into the room, the structure must be mounted on special brackets that give the desired indentation from the wall. The width in this case should not be less than the width of the window.

According to the materials used:

  • fabric: the most common lamellas are made of polyester - a durable material that does not fade in the sun and is easy to clean.
  • cotton: eco-style is becoming more and more popular every year. True, such models can cost more. Usually cotton blinds get dirty quickly and do not tolerate moisture well.
  • wooden: they are made from light but durable woods, so they need frequent cleaning (often they are vacuumed once a week).
  • bamboo: most often found only in a horizontal version. Due to pliability source material can be dyed in colors from light woody to deep red, while retaining their natural properties.
  • fiberglass: ideal for the kitchen, as fiberglass has increased fire safety.
  • plastic: they are rarely used in an apartment due to appearance. More common are the cases of using such structures on the office windows in the premises.
  • aluminum: they are most often covered with multi-colored enamel.

Installation of a horizontal system must be carried out in the following sequence:

  • assembly of parts and mechanisms:brackets are assembled, the bracket is attached to the bracket with a screw and nut;
  • cornice assembly: inserted required amount runners (equal to the number of slats) and a mechanism for controlling the position of the blinds (if you can control the position from two sides, then there will be two control mechanisms);
  • fixing the brackets on the wall: markings for dowels or self-tapping screws securing the brackets must be leveled. Quantitybrackets is determined by the length of the cornice and the material of which the wall consists. If the wall is concrete, then 1 bracket is needed for 1 meter of cornice; if from lessdurable material, it is necessary to reduce the distance between the brackets; from drywall - brackets are placed every 60-80 cm;
  • fixing the cornice on the brackets: the front groove of the front side of the cornice is installed in the front ledge of the latch (bracket) of the wall cornice, and its back side is fixed on the reverse side of the bracket with simple pressure until it clicks.
  • attaching the lamellas to the sliders of the eaves: comes down to alternately snapping the “ear” of the lamella holder into the lock of the slider. At the same stage, the bottom of the blinds is connected with two chains (weights are fastened with lower chains on both sides);

Nowadays, blinds have gained considerable popularity - they are installed both in private homes and in offices. Most often, installation of systems is carried out by specialists, but installing blinds on a plastic window with your own hands is also quite possible and does not even require any special skills or tools. You can install these curtains in several ways, the choice of which depends on the interior and functionality.

Varieties

Today in the assortment of hardware stores there are several varieties of blinds. Depending on the specific type, the features of attaching curtains change.

On sale you can find several varieties of horizontal blinds at once. The lamellas in them are installed horizontally, which is the reason for the name of the design. The thickness, width and type of material can be arbitrary. The design can be mounted inside the frame, to the frame itself, to the slope or on top of the window block.

Horizontal blinds are most often mounted in institutions

Install similar blinds in offices, production facilities and other places. These designs are universal - if desired, you can find horizontal blinds of almost any color and shade.

Due to the design features, such blinds are most often mounted on top of windows.. The slats in this case are oriented vertically, made of plastic or fabric. There are varieties on the market that differ in the length of the lamellas.

Vertical blinds are mainly installed in residential areas.

Installation of this model is most often done in private homes, but they are also in demand in offices. Installation of vertical blinds is carried out on self-tapping screws. As alternative practiced installation to the ceiling.

Roller blinds are made of fabric, completely cover the glass, if desired, they can be raised by rolling into a roll. Installation is carried out using brackets, self-tapping screws or on sticky tape.

Roller blinds can be installed without drilling walls and shutters - on double-sided tape

The need for drilling varies depending on the type:

  1. Vertical structures are mounted on top of the window or under the ceiling. In both cases, you will have to drill the surface.
  2. Horizontal blinds can be attached to the top slope or window sashes. Without drilling, such structures can be mounted on the sashes of the window unit.
  3. Interframe analog, as you might guess from the name, is designed to be installed inside the window itself. This option requires drilling the largest number of holes.

Preparation and measurements

To install the blinds, you will need the following tool:

  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • pencil or marker;
  • roulette.

So that all efforts are not in vain, it is important to correctly and accurately perform measurements - only then the design will work efficiently. In addition, it must be absolutely symmetrical to the double-glazed window. Blinds attached with adhesive tape are more tolerant of errors - if desired, they can be corrected. For analogs with fastening on self-tapping screws, it will be necessary to make additional holes, which is unlikely to benefit the beauty of the window, flaws are unacceptable here.

At the first stage of installation, blinds measure the width and height of the window.

For the correct location of the structure relative to the window and floor level, you will need to measure the following parameters:

  • window opening dimensions;
  • length to the bottom edge of the curtain;
  • distance between fasteners.

For horizontal blinds mounted on sashes, you will need to additionally measure the dimensions of each glass. To the results obtained, add 2 cm to the upper and lower edges and 0.5 cm to the sides.

Installation of vertical blinds

Installing vertical blinds is actually not as difficult a process as it might seem at first, and anyone can handle this task. If the length of the curtain is small, then the installation is carried out inside the window opening. Otherwise, the structure is installed under the ceiling or on the wall.

The algorithm of actions here is as follows:

Installation of chains and lamellas. After attaching the cornice, there will be very little left - hang the slats, start the runners, and also attach the control chain. Important point: the slats must be hung in the same order in which they are in the box. Otherwise, you can ruin the entire drawing (if any).

Installation of horizontal blinds

Mounting horizontal blinds on plastic windows is somewhat more complicated. The main thing is to clearly follow the instructions:

  1. The first step is to fix the upper fasteners. This is done with a screwdriver. First, holes are prepared, after which the bracket is attached with screws.
  2. We hang the cornice. It should be fastened until it clicks.
  3. The holes for the lower mounts are drilled by hand. When choosing a diameter, one should take into account the dimensions of the thread retainer connecting the lamellae. Most often, horizontal blinds require additional openings on the sides. This helps to insert the latch connected to the lamella web into the corners.

When installing horizontal blinds yourself, you must carefully follow the instructions

Important: self-assembly is required to be done as carefully as possible. Very often, the slightest mistake turns into the fact that the whole structure functions incorrectly..

When roller blinds There are several mounting options at once, so before starting, you should choose the most convenient one. The first is mounting on self-tapping screws, which in essence is no different from the option described above, the second is on a special adhesive tape, which is used instead of self-tapping screws, and in the third, the roller blind is hung on the sash.

To fix roller blinds use brackets or adhesive tape

Important: do not forget about the degreasing of plastic - it will help to significantly improve the adhesion of materials.

Interframe curtains

Interframe curtains are used only for double frames. The installation of this type of blinds is somewhat more complicated than the previous ones, and the process itself will result in an inevitable violation of the integrity of the profile: you will have to drill at least two holes through which the handle and cord to control the system will be pulled out.

The curtains themselves are mounted in the inner sash, more precisely - in its upper part, and the bracket - directly to the upper profile. Installation of the structure is in many ways similar to working with horizontal blinds.

Interframe curtains are installed in double-glazed windows

Do-it-yourself installation of the system is carried out according to the following algorithm:

  1. The window frame is untwisted, and the blinds are applied to the inner sash. This is used to check if the dimensions match.
  2. Markings are made for fastening, as well as the points for the output of the cord and the control knob, after which holes with a diameter of about 5 mm are drilled.
  3. The brackets are inserted into the calipers, the cords and control knobs are brought out, and the cord is through the bottom hole.
  4. Interframe blinds are attached to the sash with special interframe brackets.
  5. An adapter is installed on the frame, and a control handle is connected to the flexible output.
  6. The lock of the control handle and cord is installed.
  7. The frame rolls back.
The blind control element is brought out through the frame

As you can see, the technology for installing blinds on plastic windows without drilling is completely inappropriate here. The principle itself resembles the installation of all other design options, with the only difference being that you have to disassemble the frame, screw the bracket into the space between the frames, and remove the controls through the drilled holes.

In order for the blinds to be able to serve for many years, some operating rules should be observed:

  1. When buying, you should carefully check the complete set and all equipment, especially fasteners. They must be of high quality.
  2. The adjustment mechanism should be chosen wisely - it should be on the side convenient for operation.
  3. Make sure that no one opens the windows when the blinds have not yet been fully folded.
  4. The rotary knob must not interfere with or touch other fittings.
  5. Do not forget about periodic maintenance.
  6. Installing blinds on windows is quite possible and do-it-yourself, but it is better to entrust its repair to a professional.
  7. Plastic structures are preferable: it is much easier to care for them.
  8. Do not clean the system too often, this will only lead to rapid wear of the protective layer.

Installing the device with your own hands, as you can see, is a very simple matter, whether it be metal, plastic or wooden blinds on plastic windows. The main thing is to have high-quality instructions at hand. Thanks to this material, you can hang the blinds as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Plastic and aluminum blinds protect the room well from the effects of bright sunlight, which is very important in rooms that are on the sunny side: in offices and living rooms, where sun glare may interfere with TV viewing or computer use. It is also convenient that the installation of horizontal blinds on plastic windows with your own hands is simple and does not require special skills.

Installation Features

The standard kit usually includes brackets, all Consumables(bolts and dowels or adhesive tape), as well as instructions on how to install horizontal blinds on plastic windows. There is nothing complicated in it: first, brackets are mounted on the window, sash or opening, and then a cornice is inserted into them.

There is no need to worry about how to properly install the lamellar system on the cornice: the manufacturer has already done this for you. Therefore, the entire installation process is reduced only to mounting the side brackets and takes a minimum of time.

Installation of horizontal blinds on plastic windows can be carried out with drilling, without drilling (on double-sided adhesive tape) and on cap brackets. The choice of method largely depends on where exactly it is planned to fix them.

Where to fix blinds

Before hanging the blinds, please note: manufacturers give a guarantee for blocks with a width of 22 cm to 220 cm and a height of up to 250 cm. A smaller width does not make sense, and for a larger one it is recommended to use two independent blocks. Blinds for plastic windows large sizes are also found on sale, but they are fixed without a guarantee on the performance of the structure.

How to make dimensions

Before you install the blinds correctly, you need to take measurements. All subsequent installation and performance of the block system will directly depend on how accurately they are carried out. Dimensioning instructions for each installation site are different:

  • Inside window openings(suitable for cases where the window is located in the recess of the wall). It is important here that the lamellas do not touch the slopes when lifting and lowering. Based on this, we select the width of the block in such a way that it is 4-5 cm (2-2.5 cm from each side) narrower than the window opening. The height of the entire curtain must be respectively set 2-2.5 cm shorter than the length of the opening. So that each sash can open freely when the slats are raised, a distance must be left between the upper edge of the window and the blinds.
  • Outside window openings (also suitable for cases where window block located in the recess of the wall). This arrangement makes it possible to cover the entire opening area with one wide curtain and, if necessary, more effectively darken the room. To do this, it is necessary that the width of the lamellas be 5-5.5 cm on each side (only 10-11 cm) wider than the window opening, and the height of the entire curtain should fall 10 cm below the window sill.
  • On window sashes (curtains open together with the sashes, suitable for the mini model). This method saves space as much as possible and leaves the window sill completely free. Blinds to plastic windows in this case must be fixed so that they do not interfere with the rotation of the handles on the sashes and do not touch the window sill, but completely cover the glass. To do this, their width should be 1.5 cm from each side edge (only 3 cm) wider than the glass part of the window, and the height should be 1.5 cm more than its length.
  • Outside the window opening (carried out when the window is located on the same plane with the wall). Since the handles on the sashes protrude into the room, in this case you will need a special bracket that will make it possible to install the fixed blinds at a small distance from the wall. In order for them to completely shade the room when closed, their width should be 20 cm wider than the window opening (10 cm on each side), and the length should be equal to or 10 cm more than the height of the window.

How to make markup

In order to prevent distortion during installation, before installing horizontal blinds on the wall above plastic window with drilling it is necessary to make markings. Do not forget to leave enough space above the window, otherwise, when assembled, the lamellas will interfere with the opening of the sashes.

We will need:

  1. Blind block.
  2. Bolts and dowels to match the bracket.
  3. Roulette.
  4. Level.
  5. Construction pencil.
  6. Drill.
  7. Hammer.
  8. Screwdriver.

Operating procedure:

  1. Use a level and ruler to mark each side.
  2. Lay the bottom of the mount on the reference line, then mark the drilling points with a pencil.
  3. Highlight the cross markings to better indicate the drilling points.
  4. Drill the places where the dowels are inserted, holding the tool perpendicular.
  5. Insert the dowels by hand and hammer them in with a hammer.

how to hang

The hardest work is behind you. It remains only to hang the horizontal blinds in place.

Procedure:

  1. We install universal brackets.
  2. By turning the latch counterclockwise, we fix the upper cornice on the bracket at a distance of 20 cm from the edge.
  3. Turn the latch clockwise until it stops.
  4. We insert the hook of the rotary mechanism located on the upper cornice into the control handle (relevant for models with a cord and a handle).

We check the performance of the system: raise and lower the slats, rotate them at different angles, changing the lighting, check if they interfere with the opening of the wings. If all these manipulations were successful for you without any extra effort, the blinds are installed correctly.
As opposed to thick curtains, lightweight lamella construction made of colored plastic or painted in different colors aluminum provides good air circulation while guaranteeing uniform illumination. With its help, you can easily protect your home from direct sunlight, and if the color and texture of the lamellas are correctly chosen for the design of the apartment, they will favorably emphasize its merits.
