Blinds, 10 years ago, looked like a real foreign exoticism, today they have firmly entered our life. Most office spaces and institutions have moved from using standard blinds to universal blinds that are less dusty, sturdier looking and incredibly comfortable.

Blinds are used even in rooms made in classic stylebecause their functionality, ease of care and appearance are excellent. In addition, the blinds provide effective protection spaces from sunlight, allow you to easily adjust the level of illumination in the room, reliably screen the room from prying eyes.

The installation of blinds must be carried out in accordance with all the rules, otherwise you risk getting a lot of problems: the canvases will not move, the curtain will be difficult to assemble, etc. Quality installation provides blinds with durability of service life. When installing, you need to take into account the design features, the specifics of the walls (or window frames) in the room.

PVC window manufacturing companies offer blinds in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Depending on the destination, blinds are made from:

By type of blinds there are:

These types differ significantly in the location of the lamellas and the installation methods.

Vertical blinds are rare in ordinary living spaces, they are more often used in offices. They are mounted above the top edge of the window, similar to curtains, although this may adversely affect their functionality. And roller blinds and horizontal blinds are more often used at home instead of traditional curtains. They are installed not only in the window opening, but also over the window.

Roller blinds are mounted on the front surface of the corner of the upper slope of the window profile.

Blinds with horizontal slats can be mounted directly on the window profile, on each sash. Often, horizontal slats are complemented by curtains with curtains. Installing blinds directly on the window profile saves valuable space in the room itself and frees up space on the windowsill.

Blinds design are:

For windows of a non-standard shape, it is necessary to use lamellas of a special length, which will best provide the light protection of the room.

If your window has two sashes, then when installing the blinds, pay attention to the location of the blind lifting mechanism (right, left).

Three ways to install blinds:

  • overlay;
  • on each casement of the window separately;
  • directly into the window opening.

The factory set of blinds usually includes all materials for their installation: screws and self-tapping screws, as well as other parts.

The choice of installation option is related to the peculiarities of the window design: it is a little easier to install blinds on standard double-leaf windows than on inclined dormer windows. One of the most difficult is the installation of blinds on PVC windows, since working with plastic, in comparison, say, with wood, has a number of specific features. The installation of the cornice on plastic windows must be carried out as carefully as possible and it is better to do this in the warm season (at temperatures above +5 degrees Celsius).

The blinds can be mounted on the window sash using self-tapping screws, brackets or by drilling holes in the frame. This is the most durable and reliable.

Important! The tightness of the profile when attaching the curtain rod to it by drilling does not suffer. If it becomes necessary to remove the cornice, and holes remain in the frame, they can be filled with white silicone sealant.

If you don't feel like drilling holes, use brackets that attach to the frame without drilling.

Important! In most cases, the blinds can be fastened to the screws that are already in the window profile. This mounting method is no less reliable than drilling holes. You can learn about the possibility of such a simple installation from the blinds manual.

Blinds installation progress

After unpacking the blinds, read the instructions. Installing blinds means: measure the window and adjust the size of the blinds to it; then install the mountings for the cornice and the cord system; collect strips on the cornice and check the system performance.

Measurements are necessary in order to subsequently be convenient to use the light-protective cloth, without complaining about distortions or frequent breakdowns. It is especially important to verify the dimensions of the canvases and adjust them to the place of attachment if the window opening has a specific geometric shape.

Before screwing, you need to mark the position of the fasteners with a pencil, checking them with a level and a tape measure in order to avoid a skewed fit and leave an opportunity for adjusting the container, and also so that the strips do not go beyond the window glass.

2. Installation of cornice and lamellas

Before installation and direct installation, it is necessary to mark the fasteners with maximum accuracy and symmetry. Additional fastening must be provided for the control cord so that the structure can withstand the additional load. All elements are fixed to the wall with screws or dowels. Next, the installation of the cornice is carried out. The slats and runners themselves will be attached to it. The rigidity of the structure is guaranteed by the upper cornice bar, so there is no need to additionally strengthen the bar with glue, sealant or foam - it is fixed quite rigidly.

When reinstalling, measure the width of each window sash so that the window fittings do not interfere with the free hanging of the lamellas. Also, when choosing the installation "in the window opening", you need to decrease the height on each side by 2 cm so that the canvas does not touch the window sill. To fix the blinds close to the plastic window, you need to drill the plastic frame of the window according to the markings - pre-drilling will prevent the plastic from cracking.

If the plates on which the blinds are hung do not fit tightly to the window profile, use washers.

Brackets for blinds are screwed into the holes with self-tapping screws. Next, the brackets must be fastened up with latches and a container with blinds inserted into them.

The lower holders are attached as follows: lower the curtain to mark the lower points (the canvas should be loosely stretched). Drill the holes along these marks, into which the lower holders must be screwed, which will fix the canvas in the "micro ventilation" position. Make sure the staples sit firmly in the plastic.

When installing overlay, add 5 cm in width so that the entire opening is closed. The height is freely adjustable and can go up to the windowsill or the floor itself.

There are a number modern ways installation of blinds, involving the installation of a cornice with lamellas on brackets attached to the window frame without drilling. The striped cornice is simply hung on the brackets and snaps into place. The design is collapsible, which allows you to remove the blinds when you need to wash the window glass or wipe the lamellas. This is the easiest way to install blinds.

Features of installing blinds by type

Vertical blinds

Before installation vertical blinds you need to decide whether the wall or ceiling mount for the cornice. The height of the light-shielding sheet depends on the place of attachment of the cornice.

The thickness of the guide for vertical blinds should be at least 5-6 cm, such a gap will provide free movement of the lamellas. If there is an obstacle between the blinds and the wall (batteries, etc.), then you will need to install an additional bracket, which is not included in the kit, you must buy it separately.

If you want the blinds to be at some distance from the wall (there are different cases: a pipe, etc.), you must additionally purchase a bracket

For vertical blinds, the order of suspension of the lamellas is also important: they must be attached to the cornice in the same order that was in the factory box. Also, before starting the installation, you must determine the correct direction of the hangers. The correct position when in closed you do not see a seam on the blind material.

Remember to set the lower weights on the vertical strips to keep the canvas looking flat. Loads from the outside and inside are connected by a chain. The plumb line is attached to the cord that is included in the kit. Different manufacturers use plumb bobs of different shapes.

There are many different vertical blinds in stores, but they are often unreliable. It will be safest to mount the blinds using a pair of brackets that need to be screwed to the wall with self-tapping screws.

Roller blinds and horizontal blinds

Horizontal and roller blinds, like vertical ones, are equally conveniently installed on the wall, attached to a window or ceiling. The main thing is to clearly measure out whether the canvases will interfere with opening the window. If this happens, in the strips, if possible, you need to cut a hole in advance for comfortable opening of the window sashes.

When attached to double sided tape do not forget to thoroughly dust and degrease the surface.

You saw for yourself that self-assembly blinds are simple enough if you know a few tricks to make this process easier. Good luck using your own blinds!

10-20 years ago there was no choice of window coverings - only massive curtains and curtains were hung on the windows. Progress does not stand still, and in last years new species appear window curtains... The most popular now are blinds. In apartments you can often see a combination of blinds + roman blinds and blinds + curtain. This type of curtain protects the home from the sun, street noise and can decorate the window. More and more often, instead of heavy curtains and curtains, compact roller blinds and blinds are used in everyday life. They fit much better with reinforced-plastic window frames. They are used both in offices and in residential premises.

Types of blinds

Designers bring to life a variety of solutions that have no analogues. There are the following types of blinds:

  • plastic;
  • wooden;
  • fabric.

Installing blinds on a plastic window is a job that requires preparation. The installation process will depend on the type and shape of this product. Note that blinds are classified by shape:

  1. Horizontal.
  2. Vertical.
  3. Rolled.

Horizontal ones are most suitable for living quarters. They do not take up space under the windows, they can be mounted both inside and outside the sash. Can be combined with curtains different sizes and styles.

Vertical blinds look better in office spaces. Their peculiarity is that they can be fixed directly to the ceiling. Visually can increase the space, suitable for rooms with low ceilings.

Roller blinds have an extensive palette of colors that can decorate any room. Made of fabric, the easiest to clean from dust and dirt. You can fix them in several ways.

In the vastness of the CIS, most often you can find blinds made in China, Belarus and Russia in stores. Since the bulk of the population has plastic windows, especially in cities, it is necessary to study the information on how to properly mount them. Let's consider several options for how to attach them to the windows with your own hands so as not to damage the window structures.

Standard installation of blinds on plastic windows

Blinds can be attached different ways... It can be:

  • installation by drilling;
  • using double-sided tape;
  • using magnets;
  • with brackets.

When buying, an instruction is attached on how to hang blinds on plastic windows yourself. Basically, advice is given on how to mount them using window drilling. In this case, the fastening is carried out to the window frame above the glass unit. You need to carefully study the instructions and carefully measure.

Blinds are installed in the following ways:

  • in the opening of a plastic window;
  • overlay;
  • for each half of the window separately.

Important! Before buying blinds for two window halves, check that the lifting mechanism is on the left and right sides. Otherwise, the cords from different halves will interfere with each other.

Mounting blinds on windows using drilling will not work if you plan to change the type of curtain. After drilling, traces will remain on the window profile, and this will be noticeable. The blinds are fixed with screws, and at the moment this is the most reliable type of fastening.

Let's consider how to hang horizontal blinds on windows in more detail. The process can be divided into the following stages:

  1. We retreat 5-6 cm on both sides and outline the place for attaching the blinds. At this stage, you need to very accurately measure the distance, since if you make a mistake even in a couple of millimeters, your blinds will hang obliquely and will soon fail.
  2. We make holes for the brackets with a screwdriver, paying attention to whether the window sash will open or not. If the window opens, then the hole is made in the upper part of the window sash, if it is blind, then on the outside.
  3. After inserting the blinds into the brackets, they just snap into place.
  4. On the side of the sash, you need to make a hole for the retainer.
  5. Check how the mechanism works, whether it is convenient for you.

Vertical blinds are installed a little easier, you should do the following procedures:

  1. We make markings for the brackets, retreating 10 cm from the edge of the cornice.
  2. We drill holes and insert dowels into them. After that, we fix the brackets.
  3. We install the fasteners together with the lamellas on the cornice.
  4. We collect the runners, fix them in the canvas, after that we attach weights at the bottom of the lamellas.
  5. You can check the operation of vertical blinds.

The brackets can be glued with double-sided tape if you do not want to spoil the window profile. If extra holes remain after drilling the window, they can always be removed with acrylic sealant.

If you have purchased roller blinds, you can use another installation method to install them.

Alternative types of installation

It is not necessary to drill a window to attach the blind base. There are other options for attaching blinds to windows. To install roller blinds, you will need the following tools:

  • double-sided tape;
  • liquid Nails;
  • scissors;
  • ruler or level.

Roller blinds are a smooth fabric that can be rolled up, raised, lowered using a special mechanism. Roller blinds do an excellent job of protecting against scorching sun rays, at the same time I decorate the living quarters Consider how to attach roller blinds to plastic windows. This type of curtain is attached separately to each casement. There are several types of roller blinds, and the method of fastening each type may vary.

The Mini roller blinds are classic roller blinds on a compact shaft. They can be easily installed on separate plastic window sashes. The fasteners are fastened without drilling, and thus the frame remains intact. To prevent the fabric from sagging, the lower metal strip should be fixed with special magnetic holders. The sash can be opened in any way.

Roller blinds are roller blinds that are assembled into a cornice that looks like a compact cassette. This type of curtain is suitable for flaps, plastic or aluminum. The most popular curtain options are Rollite and Uni systems. These designs have double-sided tape strips. Using these strips, the guides are glued to the window sash.

The cassette blinds are controlled by a single chain that adjusts the curtain's height. On window frame a special retainer is installed that keeps the chain from sagging when the window is ventilated.

The Isotra and Isolite systems are also popular. A plastic window with this type of blinds can be used in any mode without fear of breaking this system. Fastening is carried out on glazing beads, in which you will need to make small holes. If such glazing beads are damaged, they can be replaced simply and quickly at any time.

Interestingly, the method of attaching blinds to the wall is still used. This type of installation does not harm the plastic window, you just need to make the correct measurements.

Layout before installation

In the question of how to hang blinds on plastic windows, one of the main points is the correct measurements of the window and the design of the blinds. You need to take measurements even before going to the store. The main thing is to maintain the optimal distance along the edges of the marking, armed with a ruler and pencil. Better yet, mark on the window itself with a pencil using a level, rely on your personal feelings and measure by eye in this case, you don't need to. You need to mark the mounts symmetrically on all sides. When installed inside a window opening, our structure should not reach 3 cm. When installed from above, the window should protrude no more than 5 cm at the edges. The height should be 3-4 cm higher. It is necessary to ensure that the louvers do not go beyond the glass boundaries.

It happens that the mounting plates do not fit very tightly against window profile... In this case, special pads are used, which, depending on the gap, are used in different quantities - from one to four pieces.

It is necessary to measure the height and width of the window along the skylight to the edge of the rubber bands. Then measure the depth of the glazing bead from the glass to the outer surface of the profile. It is necessary to take into account the presence window fittingsso that it does not interfere with the operation of the blinds. If you make the wrong measurements, then unnecessary sunlight will break through the cracks in the blinds.

For fixing horizontal blinds made of plastic, the Holis and Magnum system is used.

Before installing the blinds, you need to prepare the window openings. They must be flat and clean. Ideally, they need to be degreased.

Remember, with the slightest mistake in measuring and installing fasteners, there is a great risk of spoiling both the windows and the structures themselves. Do-it-yourself blinds installation should be treated with greater care and attention, since this is a very painstaking work.

How to choose blinds

When choosing blinds for your apartment, you need to carefully select the material, color and texture in order to harmoniously fit this type of curtain into the living space. If you have a glazed balcony, then plastic or aluminum blinds will be the only correct solution for balcony windows.

An important advantage of blinds is their compactness, heat and sound insulation. When using this type of curtain, your window sill is freed. You can save a lot on energy consumption, since the blinds protect the living space from excess sunlight and heat. In summer, the air conditioner will operate in a more economical mode. Now you can buy constructions not only from plastic and aluminum, but from bamboo and wood.

Vertical blinds are often treated with special dust-repellent solutions. This design can be rolled up and washed in washing machine or with your hands.

Pretty interesting view for interior decoration at pleated curtains. Pleated blinds are made of pleated fabric, they are attached directly to the window. Close such curtains with a cord.

The most sophisticated and expensive look is for wooden blinds. Wooden plates do not rattle, have a natural structure, protect the room from light and do not heat up. They ennoble the room and fit into any interior, suitable for both offices and bedrooms. They are made from Canadian linden and balsa varieties.

You can also choose multi-textured blinds - a combination of plastic and fabric. Vertical plastic blinds make curly, because of this, the whole room is filled with various light reflections. They look like curtains made of airy fabrics.

New on the market - photo blinds. Any pattern is applied to the white lamellas, and when you open the blinds, you can admire a beautiful picture.

Japanese curtains - a combination of several fabric panelsmade of fabrics or plastic. They move along the cornice with different guides, they can move and move apart.

You can always change the outfit for your windows by purchasing new blinds - and your room has been updated without repair. Carefully consider the choice of the color of the curtains, paying attention to the colors of the furniture in the room.

Installing blinds is more practical way close or decorate windows than buying bulky tiered curtains. The advantage of this option is at least that it is much easier to clean the blinds from dust or household dirt - they weigh less than a curtain rod with curtains, and are much cheaper. The editors of the publication suggest that you familiarize yourself with all the nuances of installing blinds before buying.

The practicality and ease of use of blinds is manifested even at the stage of choosing the mounting option.

There are several ways to close a window with blinds:

  • Installing blinds directly in window opening (only on condition that the window of this room is recessed into the wall)
Installing blinds in beige in the interior from Metro Cabinet Company An alternative to the usual blinds from Shelly's Interior Concepts

In this case, blinds of a smaller width than the window opening are chosen (on average, 3-4 cm from the total width of the opening). The difference is needed for the placement of fasteners on both sides of the window. The height of the structure is chosen arbitrarily. So that nothing interferes with the free opening of the window, measure the shutter system in the raised state and step back the same amount from the top of the opening up to the ceiling.

  • Installation of blinds over the window opening (if the window is slightly recessed into the wall)

Choosing this installation option, you can block not only the window, but also part of the wall near the window opening, further darkening the room. The width is arbitrary, but the minimum margin for overlap must be at least 10 cm (5 cm for each side of the window).

It is important to choose the correct height of the structure: it should be equal to the height of the window opening +10 cm. During the installation of the blinds, take into account the possibility of opening the window when the structure is fully raised.

  • Installation of blinds in window sashes

This option requires two systems instead of one. They are installed on the window sashes so that each element can be used separately. With this installation option, you can simultaneously leave one section of the window for ventilation without lifting them from the second section or partially illuminate the room.

IMPORTANT! With this installation option, the system should not overlap the window handle.

  • Installation of blinds over the window opening, if the window is mounted flush with the walls of the house

Since in this installation option the window handle protrudes deep into the room, the structure must be fixed on special brackets that give the desired indent from the wall. In this case, the width should not be less than the width of the window.

By materials used:

  • fabric: the most common lamellas are made of polyester - a durable material that does not fade in the sun and is easy to clean.
  • cotton: eco-style becomes more and more popular every year. True, such models can cost more. Usually, cotton blinds get dirty quickly and do not tolerate moisture well.
  • wooden: they are made from light, but durable wood, therefore they need frequent cleaning (they are often vacuumed once a week).
  • bamboo: most often found only in the horizontal version. Due to pliability source material can be painted in colors from light woody to deep red, while retaining their natural properties.
  • from fiberglass: ideal for the kitchen, since fiberglass has increased fire safety indicators.
  • plastic: they are rarely used in the apartment due to appearance... More common are cases of using such structures on office windows in premises.
  • aluminum: they are most often covered with multi-colored enamel.

The installation of the horizontal system must be carried out in accordance with the following sequence:

  • assembly of parts and mechanisms:brackets are assembled, the bracket is attached to the bracket with a screw and nut;
  • eaves assembly: inserted required amount sliders (equal to the number of lamellas) and a mechanism for controlling the position of the blinds (if the position can be controlled from both sides, then there will be two control mechanisms);
  • fixing the brackets on the wall: markings for dowels or self-tapping screws securing the brackets must be leveled. numberbrackets are determined by the length of the cornice and the material of which the wall is composed. If the wall is concrete, then 1 bracket is needed for 1 meter of the cornice; if from lessstrong material, it is necessary to reduce the distance between the brackets; from plasterboard - brackets are placed every 60-80 cm;
  • fastening the cornice to the brackets: the front groove of the front side of the cornice is installed in the front protrusion of the latch (bracket) of the wall cornice, and its rear side is fixed to the back of the bracket by simply pressing it until it clicks.
  • attachment of the lamellas to the runners of the cornice: reduced to alternately snapping the "ear" of the lamella holder into the slider lock. At the same stage, the bottom of the blinds are connected with two chains (weighting agents are fastened on both sides with lower chains);
  • the operation of the control mechanism is checked: system adjustment.

Nowadays, blinds have gained considerable popularity - they are installed both in private homes and in offices. Most often, specialists are engaged in the installation of systems, but installing blinds on a plastic window with your own hands is also quite possible and does not even require any special skills or tools. You can install these curtains in several ways, the choice of which depends on the interior and functionality.

Varieties

Today, the range of building stores includes several types of blinds. Depending on the specific type, the features of fastening curtains change.

Several types of horizontal blinds can be found on sale at once. The lamellas are installed horizontally in them, which explains the name of the structure. The thickness, width and type of material can be arbitrary. The structure can be attached inside the frame, to the frame itself, to the slope or over the window block.

Horizontal blinds are most often installed in institutions

These blinds are installed in offices, industrial facilities and other places. These designs are universal - if you wish, you can find horizontal blinds of almost any color and shade.

Due to the design features, such blinds are most often mounted over windows.... Lamellae in this case are oriented vertically, made of plastic or fabric. There are varieties on the market that differ in the length of the lamellas.

Vertical blinds are mainly installed in residential areas

The installation of this model is most often carried out in private houses, but they are also in demand in offices. Installation of vertical blinds is carried out on self-tapping screws... As alternative option installation to the ceiling is practiced.

Roller blinds are made of fabric, completely cover the glass, if desired, they can be raised by rolling. Installation is carried out using brackets, screws or on sticky tape.

Roller blinds can be installed without drilling walls and sashes - on double-sided tape

The need for drilling varies depending on the type:

  1. Vertical structures are mounted over a window or under the ceiling. In both cases, you will have to drill the surface.
  2. Horizontal blinds can be attached to the top slope or to the window sashes. Without drilling, such structures can be mounted on the sashes of the window block.
  3. The interframe analogue, as you might guess from the name, is intended for installation inside the window itself. This option requires drilling as many holes as possible.

Preparation and measurements

To install the blinds, you will need the following tools:

  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • pencil or marker;
  • roulette.

So that all efforts are not in vain, it is important to correctly and accurately measure - only then the structure will work effectively. In addition, it must be located absolutely symmetrically to the glass unit. Blinds fixed with adhesive tape are more error-tolerant - they can be fixed if desired. For analogs with self-tapping screws, additional holes will need to be made, which is unlikely to benefit the beauty of the window, here flaws are unacceptable.

At the first stage of installing the blinds, the width and height of the window are measured.

For the correct location of the structure relative to the window and floor level, you will need to measure the following parameters:

  • window opening dimensions;
  • length to the bottom edge of the curtain;
  • distance between fasteners.

For horizontal blinds installed on sashes, it will be necessary to additionally measure the dimensions of each glass. To the results obtained, add 2 cm to the upper and lower edges and 0.5 cm to the sides.

Installation of vertical blinds

Installation of vertical blinds is actually not as complicated process as it might seem initially, and everyone can cope with this task. If the length of the curtain is small, then the installation is carried out inside the window opening. Otherwise, the structure is installed under the ceiling or on the wall.

The algorithm of actions is as follows:

Installation of chains and slats. After attaching the cornice, only a little will remain - hang the slats, start the runners, and also attach the regulating chain. An important point: the lamellas must be hung in the same order in which they are in the box. Otherwise, you can spoil the whole drawing (if any).

Installation of horizontal blinds

Fastening horizontal blinds to plastic windows is somewhat more complicated. The main thing is to clearly follow the instructions:

  1. The first step is to secure the upper fasteners. This is done with a screwdriver. First, the holes are prepared, after which the bracket is attached with screws.
  2. We hang the cornice. It should be fastened until it clicks.
  3. The holes for the lower mounts are drilled by hand. When choosing a diameter, one should take into account the dimensions of the thread retainer connecting the lamellas. Most often, horizontal blinds require additional holes on the sides. This helps to insert the retainer connected to the lamella sheet into the corners.

When self-installing horizontal blinds, you must carefully follow the instructions

Important: self-assembly is required to be done as carefully as possible. Very often, the slightest mistake turns into the fact that the whole structure does not function properly..

When roller blinds there are several mounting options at once, so before starting you should choose the most convenient one. The first is installation on self-tapping screws, which in its essence is no different from the option described above, the second - on a special adhesive tape, which is used instead of self-tapping screws, and in the third, the roller blind is hung on the sash.

Use brackets or adhesive tape to fix roller blinds

Important: do not forget about degreasing the plastic - it will help to significantly improve the adhesion of materials.

Interframe curtains

Frame curtains are only used for double frames. Installation of blinds of this type is somewhat more complicated than the previous ones, and the process itself will result in an inevitable violation of the integrity of the profile: at least two holes will have to be drilled through which the handle and cord will be ejected to control the system.

The curtains themselves are mounted in the inner sash, more precisely, in its upper part, and the bracket is mounted directly to the upper profile. Installation of the structure is in many ways similar to working with horizontal blinds.

Interframe curtains are installed in double glazing

Do-it-yourself installation of the system is carried out according to the following algorithm:

  1. The window frame is unwound and the blinds are applied to the inner sash. This is used to check if the dimensions match.
  2. Markings are made for the attachment, as well as the points for the exit of the cord and the control handle, after which holes with a diameter of about 5 mm are drilled.
  3. The brackets are inserted into the calipers, the cords and control knobs are led out, with the cord through the bottom hole.
  4. Interframe blinds are attached to the sash with special interframe brackets.
  5. An adapter is installed on the frame, and a control handle is connected to the flexible outlet.
  6. The handle and cord lock is installed.
  7. The frame is rolled back.
Louver control is led out through the frame

As you can see, the technology of installing blinds on plastic windows without drilling is completely inappropriate here. The principle itself resembles the installation of all other design options with the only difference that you have to disassemble the frame, screw the bracket into the interframe space, and bring out the controls through the drilled holes.

In order for the blinds to serve for many years, some operating rules should be observed:

  1. When buying, you should carefully check the complete set and all equipment, especially fasteners. They must be of high quality.
  2. Choose the adjustment mechanism wisely - it should be on the side that is easy to use.
  3. Make sure that no one opens the windows when the blinds have not yet been fully folded.
  4. The rotary knob must not interfere with or touch other fittings.
  5. Do not forget about periodic maintenance.
  6. It is quite possible to install blinds on windows with your own hands, but it is better to entrust its repair to a professional.
  7. Plastic structures are preferable: they are much easier to care for.
  8. Do not clean the system too often, this will only lead to rapid wear of the protective layer.

Do-it-yourself installation of the device, as you can see, is quite a simple matter, be it metal, plastic or wooden blinds on plastic windows. The main thing is to have high-quality instructions at hand. Thanks to this material, you can hang blinds as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Plastic and aluminum blinds protect the room well from the effects of bright sunlight, which is very important in rooms that are on the sunny side: in offices and living rooms, where sun glare may interfere with watching TV or using your computer. It is also convenient that the installation of horizontal blinds on plastic windows with your own hands is simple and does not require special skills.

Installation features

The standard kit usually includes brackets, all consumables (bolts and dowels or tape), as well as instructions on how to install blocks of horizontal blinds on plastic windows. There is nothing complicated in it: first, brackets are mounted on a window, sash or opening, and then a cornice is inserted into them.

There is no need to worry about how to correctly install the lamellar system on the cornice: the manufacturer has already done it for you. Therefore, the entire installation process is reduced only to mounting the side brackets and takes a minimum of time.

Installation of horizontal blinds on plastic windows can be carried out with drilling, without drilling (for double-sided tape) and on captive brackets. The choice of method largely depends on where exactly it is planned to fix them.

Where to fix the blinds

Before you hang the blinds, please note: manufacturers give a guarantee for blocks with a width of 22 cm to 220 cm and a height of up to 250 cm. A smaller width does not make sense, but for a larger one, it is recommended to use two independent blocks. Blinds for plastic windows large sizes are also found on sale, but they are fixed without a guarantee for the performance of the structure.

How to make dimensions

Before installing the blinds correctly, it is necessary to take measurements. All subsequent installation and performance of the block system will directly depend on how accurately they are carried out. The instructions for taking measurements for each installation location are different:

  • Inside window openings (suitable for cases where the window is located in a wall recess). It is important here that the sipes do not touch the slopes when lifting and lowering. Based on this, we choose the width of the block so that it is 4-5 cm (2-2.5 cm from each side) narrower than the window opening. The height of the entire curtain must be accordingly set 2-2.5 cm shorter than the length of the opening. In order for each sash to open freely when the slats are raised, a distance must be left between the upper edge of the window and the blinds.
  • Outside window openings (also suitable for situations where window unit placed in a wall recess). This arrangement makes it possible to cover the entire area of \u200b\u200bthe opening with one wide curtain and, if necessary, darken the room more effectively. To do this, it is necessary that the width of the lamellas be 5-5.5 cm on each side (only 10-11 cm) wider than the window opening, and the height of the entire curtain should be 10 cm lower than the window sill.
  • On window sashes (curtains open together with the sashes, suitable for mini model). This method saves space as much as possible and leaves the window sill completely free. In this case, blinds to plastic windows must be fastened so that they do not interfere with the turning of the handles on the sashes and do not touch the window sill, but completely cover the glass. To do this, their width should be 1.5 cm from each side edge (only 3 cm) wider than the glass part of the window, and their height should be 1.5 cm more than its length.
  • Outside the window opening (carried out when the window is on the same plane with the wall). Since the handles on the shutters extend into the interior of the room, in this case you will need a special bracket, which will make it possible to install the fixed blinds at a short distance from the wall. In order for them to completely shade the room when closed, their width should be 20 cm wider than the window opening (10 cm on each side), and their length should be equal to or 10 cm more than the window height.

How to make markup

In order to avoid distortions during installation, before installing the horizontal blinds on the wall above plastic window with drilling, it is necessary to make a markup. Do not forget to leave enough space above the window, otherwise, in the assembled state, the lamellas will interfere with the opening of the sashes.

We need:

  1. Blinds block.
  2. Bolts and dowels to fit the bracket.
  3. Roulette.
  4. Level.
  5. Construction pencil.
  6. Drill.
  7. Hammer.
  8. Screwdriver.

Operating procedure:

  1. Using a level and a ruler, mark each side.
  2. Place the bottom of the mount on the reference line, then mark the drilling points with a pencil.
  3. Mark the markings with crosses to better identify the drilling points.
  4. Drill the places where the dowels will be inserted, holding the tool perpendicularly.
  5. Insert the dowels by hand and drive them in with a hammer.

How to hang

The most difficult job is over. It remains only to hang the horizontal blinds in place.

Procedure:

  1. We install universal brackets.
  2. By turning the latch counterclockwise, we fix the upper cornice on the bracket at a distance of 20 cm from the edge.
  3. Turn the latch clockwise until it stops.
  4. We insert the hook of the swivel mechanism located on the upper cornice into the control handle (relevant for models with a cord and a handle)

We check the performance of the system: raise and lower the lamellas, rotate them at different angles, changing the lighting, check if they interfere with the opening of the doors. If all these manipulations were successful for you without any extra effort, the blinds are installed correctly.
As opposed to blackout curtains, a lightweight lamella construction made of colored plastic or painted in different colors aluminum provides good air circulation, while guaranteeing uniform illumination. With its help, you can easily protect your house from direct sunlight, and if the color and texture of the lamellas are correctly selected for the design of the apartment, they will favorably emphasize its advantages.
