Homemade pleated curtains are one of the ways to express individuality, to bring something special and stylish to the interior. The article provides a list of necessary materials, advice on their processing, the process of making pleated curtains is described step by step.

Required tools and materials

Many designers consider pleated curtains original version window decor and use such curtains in their projects. Pleated blinds - universal and harmoniously fit into different styles interior. Curtains are made of fabric or paper. Today we will consider the simplest and affordable way creating "home" blinds from paper.

For work, you need to prepare:

  1. Cut of paper. It is better to use non-woven wallpaper for painting - such a material will transmit light and "hold" pleats well. The width of the paper is calculated based on the width of the window, and the length should be 30-40 cm higher than the height of the window.
  2. Two wooden slats square section 10x10 mm.
  3. Awl, hole punch, or sharp blade.
  4. Scissors or utility knife.
  5. Ruler or tape measure.
  6. Pencil.
  7. Cord, decorative rope or ribbon matched to the wallpaper.
  8. Clamp (end) for a rope or cord, you can use a large bead.
  9. Glue.
  10. Double-sided and single-sided tape.

Sequence of work

The process of making pleated paper curtains is quite simple to perform.

1. Measure the exact width and height of the window.

2. Next, spread the roll of wallpaper and apply markings on it, given that the length of the curtain will be 30-40 cm more than the height of the window itself. Even when unfolded, pleated waves "eat up" the length of the curtain a little.

3. Cut the canvas. It is better to take the length with a margin, if necessary, the excess can be cut off. Iron the prepared piece of wallpaper from the seamy side.

Note: if the window is large and one width of wallpaper is not enough, then the canvases can be glued together with adhesive tape.

4. On the left and right sides of the paper, apply parallel marks every 3-5 cm. The choice of the fold width depends on the size of the window and the design idea.

5. Use a long ruler to gently fold back the folds. It is important to control that all folds have a clear straight line and are of the same width.

6. You should get a beautiful accordion, the last fold of which is bent inward.

7. Fold the canvas into an accordion and use a hole punch to pierce the paper. The hole should be exactly in the center of the fold. Pass a tape or cord through the entire canvas. Cut off the excess ends of the rope and secure with tape from the seamy side of the paper.

8. If the pleated curtain is narrow, then one tape is enough for control. Glue the accordion on the upper fold double sided tape (future fastening of the curtain), half-glue the lower strip with tape.

9. Fold the lower part of the curtain in a fan and glue it with tape. Put a retainer or decorative bead on the tape.

10. In the wide curtain, two more holes must be made additionally, stepping back 4-5 cm from the edges of the canvas. Thread the adjusting ropes through the holes and install the clips.

11. Glue wooden blocks to the lower and upper edges of the curtain. The lower profile will keep the shape of the curtain, and the upper one will act as a cornice.

The paper curtain can be attached to the window frame without a wooden strip, but simply on double-sided tape.

You can also make pleated curtains from fabric.

For work, it is better to choose a light material, for example, organza, which contains silk, rayon or polyester. This rigid translucent fabric holds its shape well and has excellent decorative properties.

Before cutting, the canvas must be processed as follows:

  1. Soak 2 packs of gelatin in a glass of warm water.
  2. After the gelatin swells a little, heat the solution, but do not bring to a boil.
  3. Soak a piece of fabric well and hang to dry. There is no need to twist the material.
  4. After drying, the fabric should “stick” and crunch a little.
  5. In order to soften the fabric and make it more elastic, the material must be ironed with an iron.

The subsequent algorithm of actions is the same as in the manufacture of pleated paper curtains.

Ways of attaching pleated curtains

When designing homemade curtains, it is important to consider how the curtain will be attached. The size of the fabric of the future curtain and the choice of fasteners depend on this.

Method number 1 - along the glass contour

This mounting option is possible only if the glazing bead depth in the window is more than 15 mm. This type of installation is often used in the design of standard plastic windows.

Method number 2 - on the window frame

The most common type of fastening, as it fits most windows. You can use ready-made brackets, homemade strips, or secure the curtain with double-sided tape.

Method number 3 - in the window opening

With this mounting option, the size of the assembled curtain must be taken into account. This method can be used if the distance from the upper slope to the window sash is open position is at least 6 cm, since the dimensions of the assembled "accordion" pleated in height, as a rule, are about 5 cm.

Pleated paper blinds can be made even more attractive and decorated with an unusual pattern or decorated with a ready-made sticker.

As you can see, making pleated curtains is a simple and exciting process. In order to enjoy the results of your creativity, it is enough to show your imagination and spend some free time.

Per last years popularity gained the type of curtains on the windows - pleated. These are graceful, durable and easy-care curtains that look like ordinary blinds.

Pleated curtains are the only option that is suitable for non-standard windows: arched, triangular, semicircular and other types. On sale you will find different models, including popular double curtains "day Night".

How to make a pleated blind with your own hands

Creating paper pleated curtains yourself at home does not require a lot of time and money. We offer you a small master class on how to make pleated curtains with your own hands.

You will need:

  • stationery knife;
  • roulette;
  • hole puncher;
  • double-sided tape;
  • a piece of wallpaper;
  • tape or retainer.

Follow the sequence below:

  • measure windows;
  • select material. Regular wallpaper will do;
  • cut the required number of paper sheets. It is necessary so that the length of the curtains exceeds the height of the window by 40 cm;
  • from the inside, apply marks with a pencil every 3-4 cm to determine the fold lines;
  • fold the cut sheet in the form of an accordion so that the folds at the top and bottom are bent inward;
  • punch 3 holes: in the center and 5 cm from the top and bottom edges;
  • at the top of the cut with tape, attach the tapes and thread them through the holes;
  • attach the clips to the ribbons and adjust the height of the curtains.

Such curtains are well attached to those common in most homes.

To make pleated blinds for an arched window, a cut piece of wallpaper must be folded in folds in the form of a fan, measuring the same distance every 3-3.5 cm from the rounded side of the cut.

Homemade pleated curtains rarely need renovation. Therefore, it is a profitable option for those who just want to protect their home from unnecessary lighting and prying eyes.

We suggest you watch a video with a master class on making pleated curtains (paper blinds):

In the following video, you can see how to attach ready-made pleated curtains purchased in the store:

Types of pleated roller blinds

To create coziness and a sense of security in the room, you should correctly choose pleated blinds. Pleated curtains are presented in stores from brands:

  • Leroy Merlin;
  • Ikea;

A widespread version of roller pleats are corrugated blinds. They include small double-pleated compartments. In this case, the folds are denser, smoother, preventing light from entering the room.

The well-known Provence model for pivoting windows and balcony doors any shape. Such a system provides a special handle on the rail and works without a cord. For this model, we use fabrics of various colors - vanilla, peach, cold, bright colors.

Pleated roller blinds are installed on wooden, aluminum and plastic windows. They are assembled in a special cassette, the installation of which is carried out using screws. These curtains close from bottom to top, which is convenient for rooms on the lower floors.

Blinds are a very convenient and practical thing. They protect the room well from sunlight and prying eyes, take up little space compared to curtains, they are convenient to use. Making blinds with your own hands from fabric is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance.

Curtains and blinds

Empty windows, especially in the dark, from the side of the room look somehow uncomfortable and somewhat frightening. And in order to get rid of this impression, to protect the premises and the people there from prying eyes, the windows are hidden behind all sorts of special devices - and blinds. By the way, the word "curtains" comes from the French store, which means "blind". But the word "blinds" is derived from the French jalousie, which, surprisingly, means "jealousy" in translation. Maybe you mean that you know less - sleep more peacefully? Probably it was. But one thing is clear that to this day the blinds - special devices on the windows, covering them in whole or in part, are in great demand.

Blinds are different

Decorating the interior of a room is a matter of taste for the owner or hostess. You can, of course, hire a designer who will plan everything as he sees fit, although he will consult with the customer. But developing the interior of your own home on your own, with your mind, imagination, and also creating some important and beautiful things with your own hands is informative, interesting, entertaining, practical and economical. You can make, for example, do-it-yourself blinds from fabric, wooden slats, plastic slats. Use is allowed metal profiles and even paper. For any needlewoman, the most convenient and practical option is to make do-it-yourself blinds on the windows from fabric.

Such window protectors are vertical, horizontal and roll-up. However, roller blinds are most often called curtains, not blinds, although the essence remains the same. An interesting option horizontally positioned protection and decoration for windows - Roman blinds.

Fabric, accessories, tool

Before making your own blinds from fabric, house master will prepare everything you need to work and receive quality result, so as not to be distracted by the search for the necessary in the process of creativity. For fabric curtains, whatever they are, you will need:

  • Fabric in the following quantity: + width for the hem + width for the necessary fittings to be sewn in (if needed for the design of the blinds) + decorative length, for example, for folds.
  • Sewing threads for blinds.
  • Sturdy cord for rotating device. Depending on the design of the blinds, the cord may require 3-4 lengths compared to the length of the fabric, so it is better to buy a cord with a margin.
  • Tools - pliers, thick needle.
  • Accessories - rings, suspensions, slat runners.
  • Liquid Nails.
  • Double-sided and single-sided tape.
  • Long ruler.
  • Pencil.

All this is necessary for the manufacture of protection and decoration for windows. For a specific model, you will need one or another fittings and fasteners. It is convenient to use special blinds kits sold in specialized stores.

How simple!

The easiest way to make do-it-yourself blinds from fabric is to sew a Roman shade. Although this version of the light-shielding structure can be different - with or without lamellas, with different types along the window opening - inside, outside or along the frame. But it is this variation of making blinds with your own hands from fabric step by step that will help even those who have never done anything like this in their life.

Calculation of fabric for Roman blinds

If you approach the preliminary stage of any work correctly - the calculation of the material, the construction of the structure, the careful planning of all stages, then the result will only please. The same applies to making fabric blinds with your own hands.

The master class should start with the calculation the required amount fabrics. It is done simply - the estimated height and width of the blinds + 2 centimeters for hemming the edges on the right and left, as well as on top. You need to add 10 centimeters to the bottom, since it is necessary to insert a weighting bar into the lower gate. You can also provide a larger valve on top if it is supposed to make the curtain a single whole together with the cornice. You will also need a purl. It is calculated as follows: the height and width of the light protection + 2 centimeters per hem on all sides. If knitting needles are supposed to be sewn into each fold as a weighting agent, then the length of the wrong side should be increased as follows: the number of folds should be multiplied by the double thickness of the knitting needle plus a centimeter by a free fit.

Beauty in the folds

Blinds with vertical folds will look very impressive if the folds are exactly the amount you need - no more, no less. Craftsmen who are engaged in the manufacture of such window decorative draperies are advised to opt for the number of folds from 5 to 9. If you take fewer folds, the blinds will be too simple, and more folds will make the window too conspicuous. Since the folds must be at the same distance from one another, then the calculation is made by simple division - the height of the opening is divided by the selected number of folds. The result is the height of one fold.

This calculation option is most suitable if the folds will be rigidly attached to the plastic slats. If this option is chosen, old horizontal blinds can be used. If the folds are supposed to be soft, then the old blinds are not needed, and the drapery of the lifted canvas is formed freely. If you look at the fabric blinds made with your own hands, the photos of which are presented below, you can understand how folds form on such curtains.

Construction process

You can sew blinds with your own hands from fabric by proceeding to step by step work... First, you should measure the area of \u200b\u200bthe window on which the blinds will be placed. For example, if the blinds are to protrude along the walls, then it is necessary to provide for the width of such protrusions on both sides of the window opening. Having measured the required amount of facial tissue, sweep the gates on the right and left sides, from above and a wide turn from below, in which the weighting bar will fit. It is best done from a wooden block - it is light enough not to damage the entire structure, including the cornice.

Now on the wrong side, baste the hem on all sides in the same way. Mark equal distances for folds.

  • If you need to insert knitting needles, then the pockets for them should be sewn on a typewriter or manually sewn.
  • If lamellas from old horizontal ones are used, then they are carefully glued along the markings. By the way, in this way you can get a full-fledged structure by removing unnecessary slats from old blinds, pushing the remaining ones to the required distance, while maintaining the guide cords of the entire structure. The lamellas are glued neatly, without affecting the places where the cords pass, for their free movement.

Lifting mechanism

Why are blinds interesting as a means of protecting windows? By my own method of work. Indeed, when unfolded, they completely or partially cover the view, and when folded they take up very little space. This effect is obtained due to the lifting or turning (if we are talking about a vertical structure) mechanism. It seems that this is something complicated, but in fact, all ingenious, as always, is simple. Two or three cords are freely passed through special rings evenly spaced on the panel. At the top, they also pass through the rings fixed on the cornice, and are connected into a single cord equipped with a suspension.

  • If you sew blinds from fabric with your own hands from beginning to end, only from scrap materials, then the mechanism for lifting the folds will be elementary and will require an additional locking device in the form of hooks next to the blinds - on the wall, window opening, on the window frame. For these hooks, you will need to hook a cord with a suspension so that the blinds do not open.
  • If old blinds or a special purchased mechanism are used, then nothing additional is necessary to equip, since all the locking elements are already inside the eaves.

Final assembly

So, two panels are ready. If you have experience with sewing on a typewriter, then you can immediately insert the knitting needles and sew the panels with a seam along the very edge. You can connect the front and back parts, leaving room for the knitting needles, then unscrew the curtain, iron it well, and only then insert the knitting needles and the weight bar. In this case, the holes for all the parts can be carefully sewn up by hand.

  • Then, according to the marking, the rings are manually sewn under the cords, capturing both the front and back panels.
  • Now you can pass the cords through the rings, carefully securing them to the lower rings.
  • Screw special threaded rings into wooden cornice and pass the cords through them, gradually passing from one to the other.
  • If it was provided, then hide this block with a canvas using a Velcro tape. If this option was missed, then the curtain canvas along the edge is attached to the bar using a construction stapler.
  • Equip all two or three cords with a bead weight at some distance.
  • fix.

Blinds care

DIY fabric blinds are comfortable in their practicality. Especially if they have Velcro tape (Velcro tape) in the form of fasteners on the cornice. They can be easily removed and, without removing the knitting needles and weighting materials, simply wiped off the dust with your hands, when suspended, such blinds will straighten, and with the help of a steamer they can be easily brought into perfect condition directly on the weight without damaging the needles and the weighting bar.

The only point: if the blinds are sewn from colored cotton or linen fabric, which is prone to shrinkage, then the fabric before work is best washed in hot water to check for shedding and give it the opportunity to "shrink". Good luck!

To create a special atmosphere in the room, you can hang blinds on the windows. They will protect you from daylight, and especially from the hot sun, which is so annoying on summer days.

But you don't always have money to buy them. And although it will seem to many that it is quite difficult to build blinds with your own hands, this is absolutely not the case. There are some simple and interesting ways, how to do it.

A little about the concept itself

There are several types of window curtains. Some move apart, others tightly close the window openings. Blinds are a special type that not only tightly closes the window, but also quite easily opens using a special mechanism.

These curtains are made of dense material. As a rule, it is plastic, metal plates, thick cloth, paper. Blinds made of paper are quite common due to the fact that it is easiest to make them from this material on your own.

It is generally accepted in our country that blinds are placed in workrooms, on the balcony or in the kitchen. Somehow they did not take root in the bedrooms and living rooms. Although there are types of curtains that look great in any interior. They add notes of brevity and restraint to him. The main thing is to withstand the whole situation in a unified manner.

Varieties

Before you start making blinds with your own hands, you need to decide on their types. According to the folding mechanism, they are divided into vertical and horizontal. The vertical blinds slide and turn to the sides. They consist of huge strips tucked into the swivel mechanism. These curtains are best suited as a substitute for traditional curtains. But making them without special equipment and special skills is quite difficult.

Traditional horizontal blinds also require hardware and fittings. And the horizontal slats themselves cannot be bought in a hardware or handicraft store. But the semblance of such curtains is not difficult to make. The main thing is to create an imitation of the fact that the curtain is evenly going in a horizontal plane, while opening the window opening.

There are also Roman blinds, which can be called intermediate between the traditional and the usual curtain. Sewing them at home is also not difficult.

Blinds materials

On an industrial scale, the most common materials for curtains are special lightweight polymers or specially processed fabrics. They are characterized by sufficient strength and resistance to dry and wet cleaning.

Unfortunately, blinds made of wallpaper and other materials at hand do not meet these requirements. At the same time, such curtains are inexpensive. They can be done for one season, and then just thrown away. At the same time, there is always room for variability in the interior.

Fabric blinds also look pretty good in different interiors... They are practical in terms of maintenance and decorative potential, they can easily replace traditional curtains in the kitchen or on the balcony. In some interior styles, fabric blinds look great in living rooms as well. But it is almost impossible to create blinds from plastic at home, just like from wood. To do this, you must have a special mechanism that allows you to unfold and fold the blinds. It is very difficult to make it at home, since the slightest mistake in the calculations will lead to its inoperability.

Making paper blinds

To start making blinds, you need to choose the right paper. It must be sufficiently dense and relatively resistant to mechanical damage. At the same time, she will be exposed to the sun on the window. Therefore, the drawing on paper must be resistant to fading.

Depending on the width of the window opening and the configuration of the frame, we divide it into 2-4 zones. Cut strips of paper to the width of each of them at two window heights. Next, fold the paper with an accordion. The width of one bend should be about 2 to 3 centimeters. Then several options appear on how to fix the folded blinds. The easiest one is to buy 2-3 decorative clothespins and hook them in the corners and in the middle of the curtain, depending on its width.

More decorative option - place the curtain folded like an accordion in the center with a hole punch and pass the rope through the hole. The ends of the bottom edge are glued together to form a fan. The blinds are lifted by pulling the rope towards you.

You can also punch two holes on the sides. Then the curtain will be as similar as possible to shop blinds.

How to make fabric blinds?

The easiest way for this type of curtain is to curl. They are sewn to fit the window. At the edges, two vertical ribbons are launched, which can be tied together. A strip or tube is sewn into the bottom of the curtain. It serves as the basis around which the entire canvas is rolled. Having shortened it to the desired length, it is fixed at the ends with vertical tapes.

Roman curtains

You can sew blinds with your own hands in the Roman style. In this case, small horizontal twigs are sewn at an equal distance from each other. At the ends of the canvas and in the middle on the line of each of the rods, rings are sewn through which the laces of the lifting mechanism are threaded. They are all brought out in one direction and twisted together. To raise the blinds, it is enough to pull down on the laces and fix them in a special holder, which is equipped next to the window.

Unconventional blinds

We have already figured out that everyone can make blinds from wallpaper as a decorative highlight or as a temporary replacement for missing curtains. But there are other options that can already be placed inside the room itself. These are curtains made of laces or beads. They carry the burden of zoning and creating a special atmosphere in the room, since there is practically no protection from light from them.

It is not difficult to make such blinds with your own hands. The master class on their creation is simple. We take a small rail and drive small nails into it at the same distance. We tie threads with beads or laces to them. This method will give the maximum uniformity of the threads. In addition, the rail is easy to attach to any surface. Such blinds can simply hang down with loose threads, or they can be assembled in various decorative ways.

A little about the skill level

If you need to make blinds with your own hands, do not worry that something may not work out. The main thing is to know what you want.

Temporary blinds at the time of renovation in the room are a great excuse to practice. Firstly, it will become clear whether you can make beautiful blinds yourself. Secondly, it is a great alternative to covering the windows with newspapers. Thirdly, the created blinds will help you understand the features of working with paper and how best to make this or that element so that the product looks as attractive and neat as possible.

Of course, professional blinds made of expensive materials initial stages creativity is impossible to do. But this does not mean that it is worth giving up the most simple ways... Wallpaper curtains look great on balcony windows... In addition, they perfectly complement the interior and create a special atmosphere.

When starting to work with a new product, you always need to remember one rule: even if what you intended did not work out, you should not be upset. Tell everyone that this is how it should be, because no one knows what the original project was.

Decorative effects

In any room, blinds on the windows are hung not only for practical, but also for decorative purposes. To do this, you need to know a few points.

Any blinds are matched to the interior. And that means more than just matching the overall color concept. It is necessary to pay attention to both the texture of the materials and the style of the entire room.

Roman blinds will suit almost any room, but will be most appropriate in those rooms where there is a need to regulate the level of illumination. For example, they look good in the kitchen or on the balcony.

The ideal balcony option is paper blinds. They are simple to perform and unpretentious in their own way. appearance... At the same time, such blinds perfectly protect from direct sunlight and create a cozy atmosphere on the balcony, which is often lacking there.

Fabric and lace blinds can be combined with conventional curtains. This neighborhood creates the effect of unusualness. Such combinations will be appropriate in rooms where young people live. For them, the practical side is more important than splendor and decorativeness.

The blinds installed on the windows are practically a curtain, not only protecting the room from sun rays, but also a decoration of the room, perfectly complementing its interior.

Buying blinds in a store is not cheap. But homemade blinds will not require large costs - both material and temporary.

There is a very wide selection of blinds on the market today, made from a wide variety of materials.

To make the blinds more organically fit into the interior of the apartment, it is best to make them yourself. Making blinds on windows with your own hands is quite simple. The huge advantage is the cost savings. The easiest way is to make homemade blinds based on fabric, thin strips of wood or thick cardboard, the technology for their manufacture is simple.

Products made from fabric are practically no worse than the magnificent curtains that can be purchased at the mall.

Rolled fabric blinds

If you want to escape the scorching sun, then you should choose a denser fabric for the blinds.

To do it yourself roller blinds, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • pieces of fabric of the required color - 2 pcs.;
  • strips of fabric for garters;
  • circular rail with a diameter of 2 cm made of wood;
  • a block of wood, 2.5 x 2.5 cm;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • stapler;
  • crosshead screwdriver;
  • roulette;
  • pencil;
  • sewing accessories.

First of all, you need to accurately measure the dimensions window frame... To obtain the length of the canvas, 10 cm is added to the inner height of the window, and 2 cm is added to the stock. To obtain the size of the width, 2 cm is added to the width of the frame.

To make the canvas, two fabric blanks are folded together inside out and the edges are sewn on both sides. The sewn fabric is turned outwards, the gap is sewn up and the fabric is smoothed.

To fasten the leaf to the window frame, a block of wood is used, one cm long less than the width of the blinds.

The sewn fabric is spread on the wrong side. At a distance of 5 cm from the upper edge, a block is applied, covered with a cloth, and the canvas is attached with a stapler.

So that the unfolded canvas stretches well and folds neatly, a round rail is inserted into its lower edge. To do this, you need to make a pocket at the bottom. The lower edge of the canvas is wrapped about three centimeters, its edge is stitched, the fabric is ironed, and a rail is inserted into the resulting pocket.

Cardboard blinds are suitable for offices and other non-residential premises.

To secure the blinds in a folded state, garters are sewn to them. They are made from strips of fabric about two centimeters wide. Their length should be more than 30 cm double the length of the window opening. Strips of fabric are sewn on the long and short sides, then turned inside out and flattened.

The garters made in the upper part of the curtain are attached to the bar with a stapler.

Cloth with a bar, self-tapping screws attached to the top of the window frame, fabric blinds are ready to use.

Blinds made of wooden plates

The blinds made of wooden slats are very beautiful and aesthetic, they decorate the window opening and fit well into the interior of the room.

Wooden products have a long service life, do not need special care and are environmentally friendly.

To make them from wood, you must have:

  1. Thin strips made of wood about 40 mm wide, 4 mm thick and a length equal to the width of the window.
  2. Strong thread.
  3. Electric drill.
  4. Self-tapping screws.
  5. Stain and varnish.

Wooden blinds have a long service life and do not require careful maintenance.

First of all, you need to make measurements of the window and its sketch. For the canvas covering the window, it is necessary to purchase thin strips of wood with a length equal to the width of the window opening. The number of strips should be such that when unfolded they cover the window surface. To do this, divide the height of the window by the width of one plate, so we get the required number of plates.

  1. Prepared strips must be treated with a fine emery cloth to give desired color cover with stain and varnish.
  2. After the coating has completely dried, three holes with a diameter of about 2 mm are drilled in each plank. Two holes at the ends of the strip at the very edge. One hole in the center of the plank at the opposite edge.
  3. Strong threads are inserted into the outer holes, 20 cm longer than the window height. A thread is inserted into the central hole twice the height of the window.
  4. At the ends of the threads, we securely attach the lower bar.
  5. Then on the threads, at a distance of about 3.5 cm, knots are tied in size, larger than the holes in the slats. A second plank is hung on the thread, knots are tied again, and so on until a canvas is collected equal to the height of the window.
  6. Having collected all the canvas, it is necessary to fasten the side threads in the upper part of the window frame. Fasten the central thread at the top in such a way that when it relaxes, they close or slightly open.
  7. Maintenance of wooden blinds. Dust from horizontal plates is removed with a damp cloth or vacuum cleaner. In case of severe contamination, you can wash them with soapy water, then wipe with a rag and dry.

Blinds made of thick cardboard

To make cardboard blinds you will need:

  • a piece of thick cardboard larger than the window opening;
  • long ruler or flat rail;
  • electric drill;
  • sharp knife;
  • screws;
  • large needle;
  • paper clips or hairpins.

  1. The window is measured and 50 cm is added to its height.
  2. The size of the folds of the canvas is taken equal to half the depth of the window. If the window is 10 cm deep, then the size of the folds will be 5 cm. Horizontal lines 5 cm wide are applied on the prepared sheet. A ruler is applied on the line, and the lines are pressed in with the blunt side so as not to damage the cardboard.
  3. The sheet is bent along the extruded lines and turned over to the opposite side.
  4. On the other side, the same marking is applied and the lines are squeezed out with the blunt side of the knife. A sheet of cardboard is folded in a fan, and zigzag edges of the canvas are obtained.
  5. The resulting fan is tightly compressed, through holes are drilled along its edges, passing through all the folds. A strong twine is threaded into the holes obtained. Loops are made at the upper and lower ends of the twine.
  6. Two screws are screwed into the top and bottom of the frame, and
  7. a canvas is attached to them.
  8. Excess folds are removed with pins or paper clips.

Blinds made in this way are best used in non-residential premises.

The blinds installed on the window visually expand the space of the room, they reliably protect the room from the sun and are a decoration of the room ... DIY products allow you to save a decent amount in the family budget.
