Electronic entrance lock - the most necessary and useful thing in private homes. Currently, it is popular because it has no wells and therefore is hidden from prying eyes. It is located along the entire perimeter of the door and for breaking it is necessary to determine its location, which is not so easy.

It is possible to open such a lock using a plastic card, using electronic key fobs or by entering a special personal code. There are also electronic views that can only be opened with the host's fingerprints.

Electronic door lock for an apartment

The main advantage of electronic locks is their convenient use and efficiency. The electronic combination door lock can be of two types:

  • electromechanical;
  • electric with magnetic carrier.

These two types are used at control points in offices or at an enterprise, in warehouses. They are used because of a number of properties and various kinds of operations, as well as the built-in function of accounting for the working day. Outwardly, they look like a regular door lock, but they can be either mortise or overhead.

Advantages and features of door devices

It is almost impossible to open such locks, and in the event of a breakdown, it cannot be opened at all without a certain set of tools. Hence the plus and at the same time the minus of such a device: it is impossible to open it - that is, the thief will not penetrate, but you yourself will not leave without calling special services to break the entire door, and not just the lock.

The peculiarities of using electronic locks also suggest such an option: if it is broken and stands on your doors, you cannot get into the apartment yourself, you need to contact the security or repair service.

Unlike other types of mechanical locks, electronic locks have a number of advantages, it is famous for its secrecy, it is practically impossible to open it. It is made of special steel and the locking device is very durable.

Input insulation technology wooden doors described.

Also, an electronic lock has a long service life, and unlike other types, it is considered more reliable. But despite the number positive properties, there are also disadvantages:

  • instability of microcircuits that are inside;
  • a failure in the microcircuit can be violated due to a drop in atmospheric pressure;
  • a secret password that the owner can forget or unauthorized persons can spy on the dialing combination.

However, this problem can be solved: by contacting specialists, the lock will be reprogrammed. Such locking devices are very popular on entrance doors, on doors where there should be access to the lock from only one side, in offices, warehouse premises, at checkpoints, in houses, garages, on gates, and a fence.

Types of locks and types of key keys: automatic, coded, with a card

There are several types of electronic devices on sale:

  • Electronic - opened by attaching a card. Such locks are used to enter a hotel, cottage or office building. With such locks, the risk of hitting strangers into the building.
  • Mechanical electronic - opens in three types: with keys and with an electric drive, which can open the lock even from a distance. It can also be opened with secret code, prohibiting entry into the premises if the code is entered incorrectly. Install this lock on the gates, entrances. The operation of such a device occurs through connection with the service inside the building.
  • Combined
  • Combined- a device with an electronic key, the most popular type of locks today. It is possible to open with a pair of keys or use a card. A lock of this type is considered the most reliable, since if any of the mechanisms cannot be opened, then it will be impossible to open the second, third, etc., since they are connected by a chain.
  • Biometric - can be opened by applying hands, finger: the device reads fingerprints. It works on a touch scanning program. Used for the most serious and reliable protection of the premises, they cannot be opened by third parties. The advantage is that the owner does not need to remember the password and does not need to carry the card and keys, this function is performed by his hands.
  • Invisiblemodern type a lock that is not visible to outsiders and you can find it using special devices. When opening and closing, the bolt rotates with the help of mechanisms consisting of a gearbox and an electric motor. These mechanisms contribute to the reliable locking of the door. You can install such a lock yourself, having carefully studied the principle of operation. The electronic invisible lock is based on a powerful bolt, but where and how it is built into the door is not visible if you do not know about it in advance. This lock has no boreholes, no interface, it opens by remote control from 1 to 10 m distance.

Do-it-yourself electronic lock can be installed, especially when it comes to an overhead device, in which you do not need to cut anything in the door, to run a cable. It is enough just to attach the lock to the door, make sure that there is an opening for the bolt on the casing and set the code.

The charm of electronic locks has long been appreciated by offices, warehouses, enterprises, and even ordinary residents: a magnetic locking device on the entrance doors is also an example of an electronic lock. Optionally, you can change the code in such a lock. Such a device allows you to forget about the keys, which significantly saves time on their search, jamming, fear of picking picks by thieves and turning the key in the well.

The video shows an overview of the electronic lock.

Surface electronic lock can be easily installed by yourself or change the code on the door yourself.

The price of an electronic door lock can be different, depending on the functions that the device performs - whether it connects to the phone, what kind of display or keyboard it has, the range of the signal from the key fob, the complexity of the device, the number of bolts, whether it is connected to security system, whether there is a warning about low battery and clock, how it is blocked and how realistic it is to break or disable it. To feel safe, you shouldn't save on the lock.

Operating principle

Such devices work on the basis of a bolt latch. The electronic card lock opens when the sensor contacts the user's card. These cards are issued by enterprises or to the buyer of an electronic lock. It is impossible to forge or use a card from another door.

The spring, which is pressed by pressing the handle, presses on the bolt and the door opens, and when closed, the spring is weakened, the bolt pops out and is fixed between doorway... The crossbar can be controlled using electromagnets or solenoids.

Such electronic locks are solenoid in nature, they act on the signal several times faster and are installed on the door with several stages when opening and closing. When opening these locks, no keys are required, since the arranged electronic reader will allow you to open the doors using a card that is applied to the main part of the lock.

Read how to open the front door lock without a key.

The lock looks very nice - it can be a pen with numeric keys, a pen or a block with a sensor to which a card or finger is applied. The lock is not visible at all - it reacts to a key fob or an application in the phone, and the device panel can be touch-sensitive with backlighting for the dark.

For security purposes, electronic locks are simply irreplaceable. An electronic lock can be a complex combination and can be installed in any security system. If the password is entered incorrectly more than 3 times, the alarm is turned on and the signal is sent to the security point.

How to open

With such locks, the door opening speed is several times faster in comparison with conventional locks with keys. The service life of such locks is unlimited, since they are least exposed to rusting and breakage, which leads to over-wedging of mechanisms. The electronic lock is charged using the mains, that is, it is automatically charged from the battery. This property makes it possible to use such a device even in places without power supply.

Is it safe to use such a lock?

Most of the electric locks work under the influence of 220V, but the current strength is different and this should be taken into account when choosing a power supply. For complete confidence in security, in addition to installing electronic locks on the door, experts recommend installing an additional lock with a dissimilar internal mechanism and operating principle, this will definitely secure your property.

The lock has a rechargeable battery inside, and therefore, when the light is turned off, the lock continues to work, if the battery runs out, a signal is heard or sent via the GSM module to the mobile phone via SMS.

When choosing an electric lock, do not forget to contact service from time to time. Please note that right choice locking device is the safety of your home and property.

Installing electronic locks on a door saves time while a potential thief tries to figure out where the lock is. Its location is extremely difficult to calculate. The advantages of such devices save time for the owner and prevent break-ins and thefts, which is especially pleasing.

Electromagnetic Electromechanical Combined
Biometric Invisible

According to the principle of operation of the mechanism, locking electronic structures are classified as follows:

  • electromagnetic;
  • electromechanical;
  • combined;
  • biometric;
  • invisible.

It is customary to use electromagnetic mechanisms on such objects where there is a lot of traffic, or it is necessary to provide for the possibility of opening the door in the event of an emergency power outage. They can be installed in buildings where electricity is not supplied. Usually they are used on doors of emergency entrances, warehouses and other similar premises.

Electromechanical are installed on gates and entrances. This type of locks can be opened in several ways: with a key, electric drive or using a secret code.

Combined systems are considered the most common. These devices are opened using electronic keys or a special card. Mechanisms of this type are the safest and most reliable.

Biometric locking devices are high-tech mechanisms that work by reading information from hands and fingers. Such devices are installed in places that require a high degree of protection. They are convenient for their practicality, because when using them, you do not need keys and other additional items that tend to get lost.

One of the most reliable types of locking mechanisms is invisible. To determine where it is, you need a special device. Therefore, it is impossible to open the door with such a lock. The mechanism is controlled remotely.

How electronic locks work

Depending on the type of mechanism, each design has its own system of work:

The electronic magnetic mechanism works with a powerful electromagnet. It attracts the metal plate that is attached to the door. When the sash is closed, the electricity, it also creates a strong magnetic field. This field holds the metal plate on the door as long as there is electricity. To open the door, you must press the button. It turns off the current supply, then the magnetic field disappears and moves away from the metal doors.

According to their design, electromagnetic doors are distinguished, which open for separation and for sliding. On the canvas, magnets are attached by an overhead or cut-in method. Most often, overhead mechanisms are used that work on separation. They last longer and work longer, regardless of climatic conditions.

The electromechanical lock for the entrance door construction works with a bolt that moves as a result of the voltage applied to the solenoid. When the door is closed, the main bolt moves and compresses the spring. At the same time, the bolt gets into the lock and the door becomes locked. When the door is opened, voltage is transferred to the solenoid, which removes the latch holding the bolt on the spring. This type of device can also be opened with a key.

Combined locking structures combine several types of mechanisms. Their principle of operation is based on which devices have been selected for use. It is impossible to open such a structure without knowing how all the previous latches on the door open.

The principle of the biometric lock is that it scans a finger or hand print. After that, the scanned print is compared with a previously stored sample. If everything is correct, then the door opens successfully.

Invisible locking devices operate on the basis of an electric motor and gearbox, which regulate the opening and closing of the bolt. They are at the door in a place unknown to others. To open the doors, you must use the remote control from this device. It works at a distance of 1 to 10 meters.

Advantages and disadvantages

Consider the main advantages of electronic locks:

  • Reliability is the main advantage of such devices. These mechanisms are difficult for intruders to discover. Such devices do not require additional protection, because the mechanism that works in the lock is already a guarantee of security.
  • The absence of moving parts in designs of electromechanical, biometric and invisible types contributes to the durability of use.
  • Practicality and convenience. Some electronic locks can be opened from a distance or without using any objects. This allows you to avoid losing keys or a situation where they were lost at the most inopportune moment.
  • Profitability. Electronic door locking mechanisms consume a minimum amount of electricity, thereby combining ergonomics and reliability.
  • Electromagnetic locks are not affected by weather conditions, so they can be used in places that are influenced by nature. Thanks to this property, you should not worry that the devices will fail due to rain or frost.
  • Electromechanical structures do not need a constant power supply. This makes them very economical. To operate such devices, a battery is sufficient, which is changed once a year.
  • Biometric devices have several advantages. Indeed, in addition to the main function, they have a backlight, a notification function that the door is not closed, and their own alarm system that notifies of a burglary attempt.

Disadvantages:

  • The main disadvantage of most electronic locks is their dependence on electricity consumption. If, in the case of electromechanical devices, a battery can be installed for power supply, then difficulties will be created in other door locks when there is no electricity.
  • Mounting electronic door mechanisms are very expensive. It will be difficult for a layman to complete the installation yourself.
  • All electric locks, except electromagnetic, are exposed to water and frost. To protect the device, you need to place a visor or canopy over it. In the case when the doors are in the room, this drawback will not be a hindrance.
  • Installed the biometric mechanism may not work if there are cuts on the hand or finger, or if they are dirty. To prevent such situations, it is necessary to enter several scan variants into the device memory.

Recommendations of specialists for the operation of electronic locks

In order for the electronic locking mechanism to work for a long time and smoothly, you should adhere to the following recommendations:

  • you need to protect your electromechanical or biometric lock from water and condensation;
  • do not use electromechanical devices in offices, as they wear out quickly;
  • when choosing an electronic lock for entrance doors, you should take care of the possibility of connecting it to an autonomous power source. This will save you from unforeseen circumstances.

Installation of an electronic lock

To install an electric lock on a door with your own hands, you need to go through two stages.

The first step is to choose a lock that is suitable for your entrance doors. In this case, it is necessary to take into account what the door is made of, where it is located, and what degree of protection is necessary in this case.

Experts say what to consider door leaf and the locking mechanism together. After all, everything must fit together. The entrance door will differ from the design that is installed in country house, therefore, the electric lock in each case will be different, this must be taken into account. The second step to installing a door lock is to prepare the necessary tools.

The designs of electric locks themselves have two types of installation: invoice and mortise. The first type is installed on the door leaf without damaging it. Mortise is placed inside the canvas.

Surface electronic lock

To install an electronic lock on the front door with your own hands, you must:

  • Prepare a marker, tape measure, pencil, electric drill and screwdriver.
  • Make a markup where it is supposed to install an electromagnetic lock on the door;
  • In the marked places, using an electric drill, it is necessary to make holes for fastening. They must match the diameter of the mounting bolts.
  • Next, you need to drill a through hole through which the device body and the reading mechanism will be connected.
  • In the marked place, the body of the mechanism is installed and fixed.
  • Next, a striker plate is installed.
  • The reader is mounted.

Mortise electronic lock

This process is a little more complicated, because it is necessary to drill niches for the body and strips in the door leaf and jamb. Let's look at the installation process step by step:

  • For the convenience of work, you need to remove the door from the hinges.
  • Mark the size of the niche to be cut. It should be slightly larger than the lock body;
  • Next, a niche is cut out.
  • When the hole is ready, it is cleaned and bumps are removed.
  • The last step is to directly install the electronic lock into the niche and fix it with fixing materials.

How to connect an electric lock

After the installation of the lock on the front door is completed, it must be connected. In most cases, the device comes with an instruction and a wiring diagram for the electric lock, which will help you connect it quickly and without errors.

But it is better to install the electric lock by professionals, this guarantees not only time, but also the functional reliability of the mechanism, eliminates damage that can occur due to incorrect connection.

The electric lock on the front door is a reliable protector of the room. The advantages of these devices make our life much easier.

Equipment modern home includes reliable door protection, with a wide variety of designs. Their important element is the locking mechanism, which determines the level of protection against any damage or unauthorized entry. Factors such as the method of opening also depend on the type chosen. By placing an electric lock on the front door, you can control the opening remotely. However, this is not the only advantage.

Characteristics of the electric door lock and its types

An electric lock is a modern door filling that ensures the safety of your home at a high level with the ability to be controlled using an electric signal. There are several types of such devices, which differ in the type of closure.

Views electrical devices door protection:

  • - the basis is an electromagnetic field, which is created by supplying current, with its help the mechanical bar is kept in one position and ensures the door is closed;
  • - closing depends on the level of protection, the base is the crossbar, it is controlled by the remote control;
  • - operation is provided by a short voltage supply, energy for such a mechanism is needed only in the process of opening / closing the door.

The electric lock on a mechanical type door works with an electric strike, which is a counterpart of the lock. When a command is received from the key, it releases the door from the lock, without the need to turn the key. Especially popular are locks with an electromagnetic card, which are actively used in office-type premises, as well as in banking and secret institutions. Also actively used on doors in apartment buildings with intercom. They are opened using special plastic cards, GSM beacon, touch keys, a signal from a key fob, as well as using a special code.

Such locks are capable of providing reliable protection against the entry of unauthorized persons into the premises. They function by giving a special signal from the remote control, which regulates the opening / closing of the door.

Advantages of electric door locks

The decision to purchase an electric door lock should be based on performance. It is necessary to take into account the pros and cons of the devices, since their use should not cause discomfort. Modern protection has the following advantages:

  • opening - from the inside is provided by a key, from the outside - by a special button, control panel or code;
  • simple constructional characteristics;
  • reliable protection from ill-wishers;
  • easy control.

However, if you decide to buy an electric lock for your home, you need to take into account the need for a constant current supply. If there is a power failure, it will be impossible to open it yourself. Design features will require the intervention of a master.

Connecting an electric lock serves as the basis for its further functioning. This should be done by a specialist as he can guarantee correct installation. Besides, good master able to provide good service in the future if the need arises.

When deciding to purchase an electric lock, price is a key factor. On our portal models of different price categories are presented. The cost is determined by the peculiarities of filling and filling work. At the same time, the quality of each model is guaranteed.

The use of programmable electronic components in the simplest devices and mechanisms has become an objective reality. Electronic alarms on the car and in the apartment are considered classics of security devices, therefore, in the near future, it will not be the electronic lock on the front door that will surprise you, but rather the usual mechanical lever or English lock rarity. In fact, the development of electronic locks for doors, as well as alarms for cars, has seriously pushed the increased number of crimes against personal property of citizens, so the use of electronics is more of a compulsory measure than just a tribute to fashion.

What does the installation of the electronic version of the door lock give

Enthusiasts for the development of "smart" household appliances and devices with electronic control elements mercilessly criticize standard mechanical locks for their primitiveness - even a novice burglar can open such a lock and enter the house without hindrance. There is some truth in this statement. In comparison with a poor mechanical drive, electronic locks for entrance doors look very convincing:

  • In principle, it is impossible to open the door without entering the control sequence of the code digits or transmitting the signal remotely;
  • Opening the crossbar part of the lock is much more difficult, even if the power supply is cut off, the lock continues to function on batteries;
  • The device can be programmed for certain sequences of actions, give or restrict access to the front door to specific persons, block the lock at the first sign of illegal actions.

Note! For example, you can set permission to open the lock only for a certain time of the day. In the absence of the owners at an unauthorized time, the lock can be opened only by breaking the front door.

In fact, an electronic lock allows you to raise the control of the access process to a room to a new level of quality and to manage access for any person entering the room. Such systems successfully replace the pass system in offices and at enterprises with a special mode of operation. If the key is lost, the lock can be reprogrammed or locked.

Disadvantages of electronic front door lock systems

Unfortunately, electronic locks also have disadvantages.

Firstly, any lock on microcircuits and chips requires preparation in order to properly configure and program it. It is quite simple to install a lock on the front door with your own hands, but it is more difficult to set up or repair. If you turn to a specialist for help, a stranger automatically has to trust some of the secret information about the device of the lock on the front door.

Secondly, electronics are not always more reliable than a mechanical lock. In the event of a breakdown or burnout of the electronic board, you can sit in front of the front door for a long time while the specialists arrive for repair.

Thirdly, the main part of the electronic or electromechanical lock on the front door is a mechanical drive that controls the movement or fixation of the steel lock. If for electronics the number of opening-closing cycles can be tens of thousands, then for the mechanical part this value rarely exceeds 5-7 thousand openings.

In addition, some types of electronic locks for entrance doors are still not as reliable as it might seem at first glance, which needs to be discussed separately.

Design and device of electronic locks

A modern lock on electronic components, designed for installation on the front door, consists of two blocks - electronic and electromechanical. Most often, locking devices are classified precisely according to the principle of operation and organization of access to the first block:

  1. By entering a set of characters, or an access code on the keyboard, or by turning the numeric vernier. Such a castle may look like an ordinary one. door structure with a handle, but equipped with an additional keyboard panel;
  2. Entering the code using a magnetic or remote chip card. In this case, the card plays the role of a regular key, so the lock can be opened with a stolen or forged chip card;
  3. Using a radio key fob, a mobile phone, a gadget with a special program that controls the lock on the front door via a radio channel;
  4. Using a scanner of a numeric code, fingerprint or other physical parameters of the owner of the premises.

Some access methods can be duplicated or used in parallel, for example, entering the code can be duplicated by a fingerprint scanner, or opening the lock on the front door from a key fob will require confirmation from a mobile phone. All this creates additional barriers to hacking, but at the same time complicates the system and makes it less reliable.

Electronic lock drive device

The electronic lock actuator on the front door is in many ways similar to a conventional mechanical lock. At the command of the electronics, the electromechanical group of the lock activates one of the drive variants.

Most often, the opening part of the lock is made according to the solenoid-bolt pattern. A powerful coil, inside which there is a movable bolt, pushes it out with an electromagnetic field and pulls it in at the command of the electronic board, and, accordingly, opens or blocks the entrance door. This design is easily installed on almost any door. There is one drawback in the design - when the coil is triggered, a powerful burst of the electromagnetic field is formed, by which, using the simplest field sensors, you can easily determine its location, open the door leaf and unlock the door.

The second most common is the helical gear-drive with a conventional electric motor. This is the most reliable and stable working scheme that you can put on the front door with your own hands. In this case, the motor torque is converted into a linear movement of the bolt. Works very stealthily and practically silently. It is almost impossible to block the movement of the locking element. The disadvantages of the device include the need for periodic maintenance of the gearbox, otherwise the mechanism may jam.

A short-stroke electromagnet is used on manual electronic locks, which are most often used for front doors of apartments and houses. By pulling in the build bar or latch, the magnetic device locks or unlocks the spring loaded pawl or latch. Rotation of the handle, key, movement of vertical spacers can also be blocked. The electric lock on the front door turns out to be very economical, since electricity is practically not consumed in standby mode.

Such devices can operate even when the power is cut off. The electronic part of the lock on the front door will operate on batteries for another 20-30 hours. In some designs of locks, the electronic board is equipped with a GSM module, which allows sending a message to the telephone of the owner of the premises in the event of a power outage.

For entrance doors, through which a large number of people are constantly moving, they use the simplest system of a powerful electromagnet that attracts and holds the door leaf in a stationary state due to its own magnetic field. Despite the obvious inefficiency, the device has the highest resistance to burglary and a huge resource of work for 50-60 thousand operations per year. Opening such an entrance door without entering a code is possible only by turning off the power supply, or by exerting an effort of several hundred kilograms. The simplest device makes the lock very reliable, but special automation is required to protect the electromagnet circuit from overloads and short circuits.

Is it possible to open an electronic lock on the front door

It is impossible to open only a lock of a unique design, about which the intruders do not know anything about the device. Most locks, costing 5-7 thousand rubles, which are available for free sale, can be bought, you can understand the peculiarities of their functioning and choose a method of opening.

By appearance keypad or card collector, it is quite easy for an attacker to determine the type and model of the lock, and further opening is a matter of technology. It is much more difficult when the structure is hidden inside the entrance door, and the transmission of the control signal to the electronic board of the lock occurs secretly. For example, in the owner's pocket there is a chip card with a transmitting device, or the lock sensor responds to the level of the magnetic field of a chip installed in a watch or any other item of personal belongings that do not arouse suspicion.

The worst option is demonstratively pressing keys on the panel or beeping with a key fob in front of strangers. In both cases, the code is easily read by a hidden camera or special receiver.

Advice! If you like remote control of the electronic lock on the front door, use the device without taking it out of your pocket or bag, bringing it as close as possible to the sensor, in which case the chances for an intruder to record the signal are minimized.

Conclusion

Undoubtedly, the use of electronic locks increases security by several orders of magnitude in comparison with even the most complex mechanical systems. But electronic locks fail much more often, it is much more difficult and more expensive to repair them. In addition, the more complex the electronic block of the lock, the easier it is to open it without leaving any traces, which is the greatest problem for the owner.
