The closer allows the door to close smoothly and without knocks. This increases the service life as door leafand locks. Due to the fact that the closer is constantly subject to heavy loads, in order to ensure the normal and reliable operation of the mechanism, it must be carefully and regularly looked after. It is enough to carry out the necessary adjustments and the device will work flawlessly for many years. There are several options for regulation, all settings can be done by hand, you just need to know how to do it correctly.

When you need to adjust the door closer

The modern door closer has appeared relatively recently. Its task is to ensure smooth closing of the door leaf. Such devices can be installed both on the entrance and interior doors in houses and apartments, and in offices, shops, entrances, etc. Previously, a spring was used to close the door, but at the same time the canvas slammed shut with a knock and an impact occurred, which led to a quick failure of both locks and door leaf.

If earlier springs were used to close the door, now - modern devices called closers

The presence of a door closer on the doors suggests that when they are opened, a certain force will have to be applied, which is accumulated in the mechanism located inside such a device. When closing the leaf, the closer smoothly returns the doors to their original position.

Before proceeding with the description of the process of adjusting the closers, you must briefly familiarize yourself with their types. You can find mechanisms of the following types on sale:

  • spring. This is the simplest model that works by compressing the spring when opening the door, after which it expands and the leaf closes;

    The spring closer is simple in design, as it works by compressing the spring

  • cam with sliding (slide) traction. Its work is based on the smooth sliding of the slide rod. This mechanism is usually used for door leaves of light weight, and also where such indicators as compactness, smooth running and small size closer;

    The cam closer has a sliding (slide) rod

  • door closer with a gear drive. This is the most common option. Its work is based on the movement of the door under the action of gears. The toothed door closer is more durable, therefore it can be installed on heavy doors.

    The operation of the gear closer is ensured by the gears available in it

In addition, you need to decide on the types of closer according to the installation method:

  • waybills. These are the simplest models that are attached to the top of the door. It is they who are usually mounted on the entrance doors to a house or apartment. It is easy to adjust the overhead closers, for this there are special screws on the mechanism body;

    Surface-mounted door closer is attached to the top of the door

  • floor. These models also have simple designbut they are installed on the floor. In houses and apartments, floor models are practically not used. They are mainly installed in offices, shops and other high-traffic establishments;

    Floor spring fixed to the floor

  • hidden. Such structures are difficult to install and regulate. This is due to the fact that they are either inside the door or in the floor, so it is difficult to get to them.

    A hidden door closer is hidden in the door leaf, frame or floor

In what cases it is necessary to adjust the closer

The door closer is operated in an intensive mode, therefore, to ensure its normal operation, it is recommended to carry out adjustment work at least twice a year. If the attendance of the room is large, then the adjustment may need to be carried out more often.

Since there is oil inside most door closers, adjustments must be made in warm and cold seasons. This is due to the fact that when the temperature changes, the density of the oil also changes and the smooth operation of the device will depend on it.

Most of the door closers contain oil, its density depends on the temperature, so adjustments should be made in warm and cold seasons

It is necessary to constantly monitor the operation of the mechanism. If you are not satisfied with the speed of closing the door or it happens with jerks, and the canvas is not attracted well, in order to eliminate such shortcomings, it is imperative to adjust the closer.

Do I need adjustment after installing the device

The location of the adjusting screws will differ depending on the door closer design. Despite this, the adjustment is carried out according to the same scheme - when the screws are turned clockwise, the speed and force of the mechanism increase and vice versa.

Since the weight of the door leaf on which the door closer is mounted can be different, the adjustment must be carried out immediately after installation. Turn the screws very smoothly. It is recommended to do no more than ¼ a turn, after which it is necessary to check the operation of the closer. If the screw is unscrewed more than 2 turns, then it can fall out of the seat, and this will lead to oil leakage.

Since the weight of the door can be different, it is necessary to adjust the closer immediately after its installation.

Immediately after the installation of the closer, they check its operability and if something does not suit, perform the adjustment. The speed at which the door leaf will close is changed by rotating the corresponding screw. If you need to adjust the latch, use a different screw.

Door closer adjustment

Now that you know the types of door closers and decide which one is installed on a particular door, you can start adjusting it.

Although there are several types of closers, the principle of adjustment will be almost the same. Regardless of whether the invoice, floor or hidden mechanism is installed, you first need to study the instructions and determine how many adjustments this model has. The simplest mechanisms have only two adjusting screws located on the body of the device: one is responsible for the speed of closing the web, and the second for its closing. After that, the necessary function of such a device is adjusted. The process of adjusting hidden structures will be more difficult, but here you can do it yourself. It is enough to figure out where the adjusting screws are and with their help set the required parameters of the closer.

To complete the work, you will need the following tools:

Before proceeding directly to the adjustment, it is necessary to decide what the following terms mean:

Adjusting door speed

The first step in adjusting the door closer is to set the closing speed. On the front doors, it is recommended to set a high speed of closing the door so as not to lose heat; for interior doors, this indicator depends on the preferences of the owners.

Have door closer, depending on its model, there may be from 2 to 5 adjusting screws, their purpose should be seen in the instructions for the purchased device.

To adjust the door speed:

Deadlop regulation

The latch adjustment can only be carried out after the door closing speed has been set. To adjust this parameter, you must use the second screw, which is available on all door closer models:

Open position regulation

If it is often necessary to fix the door in open position, you need to buy models with an adjustment called hold open. This function is used when it is necessary to bring in or take out of the room large objects:

How to loosen a door closer

If the doors are difficult to open, the door closer must be loosened. To do this, loosen the adjusting screws a little and ensure that a little effort is required to open the door leaf.

To loosen the closer, you need to slightly unscrew the adjusting screws

Closing delay setting

Sometimes situations arise when it is necessary for the doors to close not immediately, but with some delay. This function is also not available on all models. To understand if it is on your closer, you need to look at the number of adjusting screws. There should be more than two of them, and the purpose of each of them can be found out by studying the instructions. This function allows you to set up the door closer so that several people can pass at the same time while the door is open. It is especially relevant in hospitals, shops, educational institutions.

Setting the door closing delay:

Video: adjusting the closer

During self-adjustment of the door closer, you must adhere to the basic rule: you cannot unscrew the adjusting screws more than 2 turns. Almost all mechanisms run on oil, and if you unscrew the screws more, it will start to flow out. Oil is poured into the device under pressure, so it will not be possible to fill the closer on your own and you will have to buy a new mechanism.

To ensure the maximum service life of the closer, certain requirements must be met:

If you really need to fix the door, and the closer does not know how to do this, some craftsmen disconnect the lever rods and thus turn off the closer completely. To implement this method of fixation requires a certain amount of time and effort. To do this, use a screwdriver or a wrench to unscrew and pull out the screw connecting the two rods of the lever. If the need to fix the door leaf occurs often, it is better to purchase a door closer with the appropriate function.

The door closer is pretty simple mechanism, and if it is properly operated and adjustments are made in time, then it will work for a long time and reliably.

Video: features of operation and adjustment of the closer in the winter

A door closer, like many other devices, requires regular and careful maintenance. Constant loads associated with daily opening and closing cycles create imbalance in the components of this device. You can fix such troubles yourself. On the request “how to adjust the video closer, you will find the desired video. And the rest will be prompted by the article.

To imagine how to adjust the closer, it is worth getting to know their types and features.

Benefits disadvantages

In this system, the gear and the toothed piston are in constant engagement. In this case, the piston moves axially when the blade rotates. At the moment of its opening, the structure lever moves in an arc.

As the pinion shaft rotates, the piston moves horizontally and compresses the spring. The release releases the spring, which presses the piston in the other direction, and the structure closes.

In this case, the sliding guide is located on the surface of the opening frame or on the canvas; there is no shoulder for optimal transfer of force, which does not allow the force process to proceed favorably.

Modern designs have a cam located between two pistons: brake and opening.

When opened, the cam compresses the spring evenly through the piston.

The release of the spring moves the opening piston back, the cam returns to its original position, and the brake element holds the door.

The installation of such modifications should be considered at the design stage. Due to the absence of a lever mechanism, such closers have a large torque on the axis, which requires the installation of a more powerful structure.

The force-locking roller ensures reliable synchronization of operation and hydraulics.

The device has an internal mechanism that acts as a shock absorber. When closing, the hinges prevent the curtain from hitting, and ensure smooth movement of the opening.

This greatly reduces the likelihood of injury and reduces the load on the door.

In this design, there are protruding spring-loaded pins, which you can catch on, and then break the mechanism.

To prevent this from happening, you need to place the product at the highest points. But this may reduce the strength of the structure.

When to adjust the closer

The correct operation of the device depends on correct maintenance.

For this:

  • It is necessary to carry out an inspection at least once every six months, especially when changing seasons.
  • Minor breakages should be repaired immediately. It can be:
  1. Stiff operation of the opening mechanism.
  2. Opening too fast.
  3. They open abruptly, with jerks, or vice versa - too tight.
  4. Slow blade movement.

Tip: If the closer is broken, the mechanism needs repair, the cost of which can be significant.

  • Closers are adjusted during installation of devices (see), and during their operation. Due to a decrease in the outside temperature, the viscosity of the oil used in the device increases, which can lead to a decrease in the speed of closing the door. This requires additional adjustment of the input equipment with the onset of winter.
  • The frequency of adjustment of the closer is influenced by the duration of its previous operation, the weight of the canvas, the frequency of movement through the opening.
  • The closing mechanism must be adjusted 2-3 times a year.

Operating rules

When operating closers, very simple and clear rules must be followed.

The devices do not have various anti-vandal mechanisms, which requires very careful and rather delicate handling. After choosing a closer, you need to make sure that its characteristics correspond to the conditions where the device will be installed.

Wherein:

  • Door closers are divided into classes from small - EN1 to large - EN7... This indicator is taken into account when choosing a device. The classes depend on the weight of the closer itself and inertia: the weight and size of the blade shoulder. For example, a device designed for a canvas weight of 40 kg (EN1) will not be able to cover metal doorweighing 120 kg (EN7).
  • Do not help the device to operate.
  • Can't keep the door leaf openif the mechanism does not have a latching function.
  • It is not necessary to turn the adjusting screws unnecessarilyinstalled on the valves.
  • Left or right opening must be agreed with the equipment seller.

Closers adjustment

Before you adjust the door closer, you must have:

  • Pliers.
  • Wrenches.
  • A screwdriver.

According to the instructions attached to the product, you can adjust the device yourself. Several functions available in the mechanism can be adjusted using simple methods. And how to adjust the closer, the video will tell you.

Travel speed adjustment

The closer operation is similar to that of a car shock absorber.

Wherein:

  • The man, with some effort, opens the door.
  • This force, through the built-in system of levers, compresses the power spring of the closer.
  • The spring is cocked and, when released, begins to reverse.
  • The spring transmits its force to the rod or toothed rack, which, through this system of levers, tries to return the structure to its initial position.
  • The rod, moving in an oil environment, conducts the composition through the nozzles.
  • Due to the hydraulic resistance of the jets, the oil impedes the movement of the stem.
  • The spring continues to push the rod with effort, and the door begins to close at a certain speed.
  • To change the speed, the cross-section of the jet that passes the oil is reduced or increased.

To change the speed in the devices, an adjusting screw is installed. In the photo below, it is marked with a "C" icon.

When the screw rotates, the door closing speed changes. This is how the Diplomat door closer is adjusted. Its adjustment screws are located at the end of the device. In this case, the speed of movement of the leaf can be changed in the range of door opening from 15 ° to 180 °.

Tip: Adjusting the closing speed should be done very carefully. If the adjusting screw is completely removed, the system will leak and oil will leak. The closer will fail.

The door closing speed should be adjusted regularly, at least six months later. This is necessary for preventive purposes, and due to a possible change in the physicochemical properties of the oil. To get a better idea of \u200b\u200bthe process, watch the video in this article.

Installing a deadlock

A very relevant function is a deadlock. This adjustment is especially important for door designs with soft seals, combination and magnetic locks. The video will tell you what and how to do it.

It is very important for such doors how the moment they are closed. The range of movement of the blade is in the range from 0 ° to 15 °. In this range, the web should close sufficiently slowly and reliably.

Tip: Do not allow an increase in the dynamic load on the mechanism, or incomplete closing of the door.

To adjust the door closers, a latch adjustment screw is provided. When it rotates, the characteristics of the movement of the canvas will change in the range from 15 °.

The screws for adjusting the speed and latching are located on the panel of the product next to it.

The latch screw, like speed regulation, requires great care when working with it.

The latch adjustment should be carried out only after the end of the adjustment of the door speed. By turning the adjusting screw clockwise, you can decrease the speed, and against it, increase it.

Tip: To avoid technical problems, do not do more than two counterclockwise turns of the screw.

Door open position adjustment

There are times when the door needs to be kept in open form... In this case, you need to know how to correctly adjust the closer so that the opening is open.

The mechanisms have the function of holding the doors open - "hold open". Its adjustment is carried out with the door open at 90 ° by tightening the latch.

After that:

  • The doors remain open when they are thrown open to the desired degree.
  • The device triggers a latch that keeps the door open for the required period of time.

  • To close the door, just pull it slightly towards yourself, and the fixation will be removed.
  • With incomplete plowing, the blade moves normally without delay.
  • The amount of spring tension is set with an adjusting nut.
  • Turning it clockwise, you can increase the opening angle of the door. And by unscrewing it counterclockwise, the effort to move the door leaf increases.

Models of the device are available with an additional hold-open function, which allows the door to be locked at an angle from 90 ° to 100 ° for a certain time, for room ventilation or other purposes.

For each type of door, it is necessary to choose the correct closer - the device and adjustment of all functions of the device must be performed as recommended by the operating instructions. Installing the device on the door reduces the load on the hinges when moving the door leaf.

To extend the service life of the door leaf, you need to carefully close it. If warnings can be made at home, in public places it is unrealistic. To smoothly close the door, a mechanism is installed. After installation, you need to adjust the work. Do-it-yourself door closer adjustment is simple. Information on the sequence of work can be found below.

The closer allows you to automate the closing process. The need for it is especially noticeable if there is a magnetic lock.

There are several types that differ in designs:

  • spring mechanisms are the simplest;
  • cam slide - for light structures;
  • with gear drive - for light, heavy structures.

Previously, the closers were simple springs attached with nails. Closing the door was carried out strongly, with a characteristic sound, which often caused the canvas to break, the appearance of cracks, and the finish shedding.

When spring structures equipped with a piston, the movement of the canvas became smooth, but the essence remained. The closer is a spring hidden in a one-piece housing, which is moved by a piston. In the middle of the piston structure, a gear wheel, the rotation of which is regulated by a lever, screw, valve.

The installation method is distinguished by:

  1. Overhead closers. They are easy to use and easy to install. The adjustment is carried out by valves, handles, screws located on the device box. The number of allowed spins is indicated by the manufacturer.
  2. Floor mechanisms are mounted at the bottom of the door leaf. They are not used in private households. Adjustment of the device is simple, but difficulties can arise due to the low location of the structure.
  3. It is difficult to customize hidden structures on your own, since their structure is built into the canvas, wall.

The manufacturer indicates in the instructions the position of the adjusting mechanisms, so if in doubt, there are no screws, you should try to read the piece of paper that comes with the closer.

How to understand that adjustment is required?

In order not to wait for the closer signals about the need for adjustment, the operability should be checked every 3 months - this is a fairly long period. Prevention will provide an opportunity to detect a malfunction at the initial stage, adjust the work, replace.

It is imperative to adjust the closer for the change of seasons. The mechanism is hydraulic, it has oil inside, which changes its consistency when the temperature rises or falls. When the temperature is closer to winter, the oil thickens, in summer it becomes liquid.

The structure should be corrected when problems are detected. Among them:

  • braking the door leaf when closing;
  • slamming at high speed;
  • jerky movement.

If the closer is broken, then the effectiveness of the adjustment is reduced to a minimum - it must be repaired.

Required tools

To set up you need pliers, spanners, screwdriver. This set of tools will be enough for a simple adjustment, but if there are problems in the mechanism, you will have to stock up on additional materials: replacement parts, oil.

Adjustment process

Device manufacturers allow you to adjust three parameters: closing speed, delay, latch. In new models, you can adjust the door speed in the region of 80-90 degrees - this is an additional feature.

With the help of screws, you can set the delay, increase the smoothness, speed up the closing. For each individual setting, it is necessary to turn the adjusting mechanisms in a certain direction. Be sure to read the instructions before starting work. Manufacturers paint a detailed sequence of actions to achieve the result.

How to adjust a door closer with your own hands - a short guide:

  • adjust the deadlock;
  • weaken, toughen up the work;
  • set a suitable speed;
  • adjust the intermediate stroke.

Working with screws

In the instructions, the control valves are labeled 1, 2, so they are easy to find on the body. You can turn in both directions, but no more than two full turns. The first screw is responsible for the movement of the web in the region of 15-180 degrees, the second - 0-15. In new models, there is a third valve, the purpose of which is regulated by design features.

Latch adjustment

Setting the parameter is similar to adjusting the travel speed. To adjust, just twist the responsible screw. Deadlock - the speed of closing the door at the last interval of 20-25 cm. Acceleration of the stroke leads to an increase in the force of impact of the door leaf on the frame, which negatively affects the condition of the door and the finish. Dohlop should be tuned moderately.

Loosening the closer

By adjusting the degree of spring tension, you can weaken or harden the working stroke. It is better to do this carefully, turning a screwdriver, adjusting the work with screws. After turning the screw mechanism, check the operation. If you are satisfied with the changes, you can seal the case with a protective cover.

Speed \u200b\u200bregulation

It is necessary to regulate the work of the structure upon completion installation works... It is better if the wizard who carried out the installation makes the setup. If the door closing speed is not satisfactory, you can tighten the adjusting screw. Delays should be set moderately at each stage.

To brake, it is enough to turn the valve half a turn. Move clockwise. To speed up the closure, actions are carried out in reverse. By turning the screw to the right and left, the adjustment is carried out until the result is obtained.

Setting the intermediate stroke

The parameter adjusts to the speed of closing the doors, but you can slow down the canvas halfway using the third screw. He is responsible for holding the object in the specified position. By turning it to the left, to the right, you can speed up, slow down the movement of the canvas in the middle interval. The third screw can be made so that the door remains open for a certain time.

What should be avoided when setting up a door closer with your own hands?

Little useful tipsthat will help avoid damage to the mechanism:

  1. You cannot turn the screw, adjusting the work, from the zero point for more than two turns, because there is oil in the mechanism that can leak out.
  2. Distortions disable any mechanisms, therefore, during installation, the corners must be carefully checked.
  3. Do not press on the canvas and mechanism with heavy objects.
  4. Do not hang heavy things on the door leaf so as not to distort the diagonal.
  5. Do not prop up.

Observing the indicated points, you prolong the operation of the mechanism.

What if nothing works?

There are several reasons why a customization might not work:

  1. The wrong mechanism is selected, the door is too heavy, the frequent hanging of heavy objects on the canvas.
  2. Incorrect fastening of the iron corner, misalignment of parts.
  3. Displacement of the holes for the self-tapping screws on which the device is attached, unscrewing.

If one of the above points is suitable, then there are only two ways out - to change the door, to put another closer. There is a third option - try to fix it yourself, but lack of experience can lead to deterioration.

The lever must be located strictly perpendicular to the canvas, otherwise one of the parts must be moved.

In order for the mechanism to work correctly, you must follow some measures:

  1. It is not worth supporting the door with objects, because to fix the position, it is enough to turn the screws.
  2. Before adjusting, read its instructions to familiarize yourself with permissible norms, which are regulated by the manufacturer.
  3. When buying a mechanism, you should know temperature conditions, at which it will work, because many models are designed for warm rooms.
  4. If a malfunction is found, you should call the wizard so that actions do not aggravate the problem.
  5. The floor closer is installed at the stage of door mounting, which must be taken into account when buying a device.

The adjustment is carried out by carefully rotating the screws, because it is easy to disrupt the hydraulics, which will lead to a malfunction of the mechanism, which will be difficult or almost impossible to restore. Before setting up, you need to make sure that the reason for the poor performance of the device is in the closer.

A door closer is a small device designed to smoothly close a door. It not only minimizes the risk of injury in humans, but also protects door structure - hinges, fittings - from rapid wear. How do you adjust the door closer with your own hands?

Types and device of closers

The working element of the closer is a spring enclosed in a container with oil. Devices differ in the way they are mounted:

Top waybills;

Built into the frame;

Built into the floor.

The closer can have a crank (lever) and cam (leverless) drive. Simple models mechanical, more complex work from the mains.

Operational loads are indicated in the passport and directly depend on the dimensions and weight of the canvas.

In addition, each model has a range of permissible temperatures. The working medium of the door closer is oil, its consistency depends on the outside temperature: the colder, the higher the viscosity.

The operating parameters are controlled by a valve system - a thermal shutter. Its purpose is to compensate for temperature changes by decreasing or increasing viscosity.

At the border of the seasons, adjusting the closer becomes a necessity. Otherwise, one fine winter day you will find that your door is “frozen”.

If the web closes at an unsuitable speed (too fast or slow), adjustment is also necessary.

Important: the device will work properly only when correct installation... During installation, ensure that a right angle is maintained between the lever and the door.

Adjustment instructions

Instructions on how to adjust the door closer is included. If not, then see below. Consider the most common design - an overhead door closer.

Video "How to adjust the door closer":

There are two screws at the end of the device. The first screw adjusts the movement in the range of an angle from 15 degrees to 180. The second controls the closing speed: tightening it, you decrease the speed, while loosening it, you increase it. By alternately manipulating both, you achieve necessary work... Some recommendations:

To increase the finishing speed, you need to turn the second adjusting screw clockwise, for the opposite effect - counterclockwise.

The spring tension is changed by turning the adjusting nut. With its help, the door closer is adjusted according to the opening angle.

Video "How to adjust a door closer with your own hands":

You can pause the movement of a door open at a right angle (hold-open function). To do this, retract the web 90 degrees, tighten the retainer. This option is useful when open door it is necessary to carry some kind of load.

If the door is open 90 degrees or more, it will stop completely. To set it in motion, you need to pull the handle. If the angle is less than 90, the door will smoothly close normally.

You can turn the adjusting screws from the zero mark by no more than two turns. If you are adjusting the door closer with your own hands, then it should be remembered that unscrew the screw completely.

When the valves are displaced, oil leakage inevitably occurs, the device becomes inoperative.

Video "How to adjust a door closer":

So that the closers are not subjected to unnecessary loads, you should not exert additional force on the closing door and support it with anything.

Dorma and Geze features

German door closer Dorma is designed to work in the temperature range from -30 to +40. Dorma door closer adjustments are made by two valves.

The force must comply with the European standard EN. The setting depends on the type and size of the door. The force is adjusted by moving the body relative to the hinges or by turning the lever.

Adjustment of the Geze closer is carried out by the hold-open function, which works in the range from 70 to 150 degrees. In addition to the usual models of this brand, there are devices with smoke protection: in the case there is a switch with an electronic unit that is triggered by smoke.

In such a simple way, the door is adjusted with your own hands. The main thing is not to overdo it and serve it on time.

Sections of the article:

A door closer is a device that allows the door to close independently. Smooth movement and no popping impacts protect the sash from damage, which prolongs its service life. The density of entry of the door leaf into the frame eliminates the possibility of cold air entering the room, maintaining an optimal microclimate in the house. Adjustment of the door closer for closing force and movement speed is required during initial installation and several times a year to maintain correct operation. How to adjust the door closer with your own hands - read in our article. And as much as possible reveals the topic of the video posted at its end.

When closer adjustment is required

The first regulation of the device is carried out immediately after its installation on the door - the most convenient mode is selected in terms of speed and closing force. Closers for entrance doors during operation, the closing speed is reduced with the onset of negative temperatures, since the engine oil inside the mechanism at low temperatures acquires a greater density, which complicates the operation of the piston. In order not to have to apply unnecessary efforts when opening, and the room is not blown out during prolonged closing of the door, the closer adjustment is required.

Please note that depending on the model and cost, door closers are resistant to negative temperatures. Therefore, before buying, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the temperature range for the normal operation of the device, which is indicated in the instructions or the product passport.

The frequency of adjustment depends on the duration of operation, the severity of the door leaf, and the level of human traffic. Usually the closer is adjusted every 4-6 months.

Closing speed adjustment

Before you start adjusting the door closer, the door surface, box and hinges are inspected for damage that could affect the correct operation of the mechanism. The main parameter for adjustment is the closing speed of the door leaf. Too fast or slow movement of the blade is adjusted by turning the first adjusting wine clockwise or counterclockwise.

It is not recommended to turn the adjustment screw more than two turns or completely unscrew it, as this will lead to a malfunction of the balance of the device, which is quite difficult and dreary to adjust. In some cases, excessive cranking can lead to damage to the mechanism, for example, oil leakage, which is poured into industrial conditions under pressure. Therefore, pouring grease into the door closer will not work on its own. Usually it is enough to turn the screw a quarter or a half turn, which will already significantly affect the closing speed of the sash.

Latch adjustment

The clap is a distance of 10-15% of the open position of the sash until it is completely closed. Adjusting this indicator allows you to change the speed throughout this section, usually slowing down the movement of the sash, which allows you to calmly enter doorway both an elderly person, a child, and a customer with full bags from the shopping center. You can adjust the closer to increase the closing speed by turning the second valve clockwise. To prevent the door from slamming, it will be necessary to reduce the closing speed by turning the valve in the opposite direction.

Please note that the latch adjustment is carried out only in the fully open position of the sash.

Swing angle adjustment

The swing angle of the door leaf depends on how tight the spring is inside the door closer. You can tighten or loosen the spring by turning the adjusting nut. Turning the nut counterclockwise weakens the spring tension, which allows the door to be opened with less force than a tight spring. In addition, a closer with a weaker spring allows the door to open wider, which is convenient when moving in / out large furniture. Tightly tensioned spring mechanism for opening - the best option for a door that is characterized by a minimum distance between the opening and the row standing wall... Such adjustment eliminates the possibility of damage when the sash hits a closely spaced perpendicular wall.

Please note that all the information on how to adjust the door closer is in the instructions or the product passport, which comes without fail complete with a device for self-closing the door.

Open sash fixation

Some door closer models are equipped with a special latch that allows you to fix the door leaf in the open position. This function is very convenient for use in public places, for example, hospitals or shops, when you need to bring / take out something large. The tightened latch prevents the door from closing when it is open more than 90 degrees. When opening less than this indicator, the closer works as usual.

In the event that the adjustment of the closer did not help to establish a comfortable mode of opening / closing the door, it is recommended to remove the product and reinstall it, since an error could have been made during the initial installation. Before reinstalling the closer, check the blade and hinges for damage that could cause the mechanism to malfunction.

To ensure the long-term operation of the closer, in no case should you press on the closing sash to speed up the process, since the lever closing system may not cope with the force, break or provoke oil to leak from the mechanism. It is also not recommended to slow down the door closing speed by holding the sash or fixing with any objects, this can also lead to malfunctions.

If necessary, the closer can be turned off for a while, simply by disconnecting the parts of the lever from each other, which will ensure free movement of the door structure.

Before installing or tightening the closer, first read the information in the instructions, and then proceed directly to adjusting the mechanism on the door.

Before buying, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with such parameters of the mechanism as resistance to negative temperatures and withstanding the maximum weight of the door leaf. A closer designed for indoor use will fail with the onset of cold weather.
