To begin with, I will fix two shaped pipes inside the metal garage. A guide roller shutter and a box will be attached to these pipes. In this example, the box will be mounted inside the garage. What are roller shutter gates made of?

Let's consider the composition of roller shutters. This is directly a box with a lid, a roller shutter and two guides. In addition, the set will include such a block for remote opening of the gate, springs for attaching the curtain to the shaft and decorative plastic caps that will close the holes in the places where the roller shutters are attached.

Remove the box cover and examine the structure. Inside we see a shaft with rings on which the roller shutter fabric will be wound. There is an electric motor inside the shaft, from which such a wire departs.

Gate installation

The drive of these roller shutters is retrofitted with a device for emergency opening / closing of roller shutters in the absence of electricity. Let's unpack and inspect the guides. The features of these guides are that the edges are already bent at their ends for better sliding of the canvas. Now insert the guide into the corresponding tabs on the box. In other designs, an additional plastic guide may be present here.

We will do the same on the other side. The bend on the guides must point towards the shaft. We raise the box with guides and simply put it to the gate frame. At this stage, it is important to make sure that the guides are strictly vertical and the box is strictly horizontal. For this we will use the usual level. Next, we will make a markup for fastening the guides.

On the left guide, I mark with a pencil the places for drilling closer to the left side. I will make the bottom and top holes about 15 centimeters from the edge. For one rail, I will have 4 mounting holes. I will attach the guides to self-tapping screws with a press washer. Check the level again before drilling the holes. First, I use a drill with a diameter of the thickness of the screw. I will drill both sides of the guide. Now, using a drill with a diameter of 1.8 millimeters, I only drill the front wall of the guide. A self-tapping screw will be inserted through it, and then the hole will be closed with a decorative cap. I tighten the screw with a press washer.

Drilling must be repeated for all marked points. Sometimes it is convenient to prepare the holes for the guides before installing the box. In addition, it is necessary to fix the box body itself with a self-tapping screw on the left and right sides.

Now you can remove the protective film from the guides and insert and insert decorative caps into the holes.

From the end of the box we will drill a hole to lead the electric motor cable out. Distribute the rings evenly along the length of the shaft.

At the next stage, it is necessary to carefully guide the roller shutter through the shaft into the guides. The web starts from the bottom strip. This is a rather laborious operation and an assistant is desirable here. Further, traction springs are put on the upper edge of the canvas. They have special mounts, so they only fit in one position.

The springs must also be evenly distributed over the canvas. Now we fix the edges of the spring into the perforation holes on the shaft. This is done in this way. We will carefully secure each spring.

Now we can check the operation of the roller shutter drive. There are 4 wires from the electric drive. The green-yellow wire is the ground. And a combination of blue, brown and blue-black wires will make the engine rotate in one direction or another.

Thus, when connected to these contacts, the roller shutter curtain will lower or rise. Our roller shutters have a remote control unit. Let's consider its composition. Inside there is a box with a board, fasteners and insulating elements. The antenna of the unit is made in the form of a flexible wire. For reliable reception, it must be taken out of the box and aligned. The electrical board has terminal blocks through which the connection will be made. Inside the box with the remote control unit there is detailed instructions by connection. All connection options are available in it.

The remote control unit requires at least one remote control to operate. This is how it might look.

To bind a new remote control to this control unit, it is necessary to enter it into the memory of this device. For this there is a button with a "P" icon. A long press on this button switches the device to the recording mode of a new remote control.

After pressing, the signal LED will light up. At this moment, you need to press the button on the remote control. This remote control is entered into memory and now it is possible to control the roller shutter operation from it.

The last step is to adjust the final position of the web. For this, the upper and lower limit switches are adjusted. The adjusting screws are turned with a regular hexagon. An arrow with a plus increases the rotation duration, and an arrow with a minus decreases the rotation duration in one direction or another. The adjustment is carried out with the electric motor on. The lower position is adjusted until it touches the floor, and in the upper position it is recommended to make one and a half strips of canvas.
