Comfort and safety are important living conditions for a modern homeowner. You can reach them different ways, but one of the proven means is to equip the gate with an electromechanical lock. A smart device opens the door in front of the guest at a time when the owner is inside the living space. The mechanism is launched into operation by pressing a button on the intercom.

Varieties by type of installation

Electromechanics has many properties that are characteristic of its "brother" of mechanical constipation. But the design has a twist - it is electrical part, controlled through the keypad for dialing the code. A receiver for a key or a magnetic card is also provided. The lock opens when the mechanism is unlocked.

According to the criterion "type of installation" devices are divided into two types:

When buying an electromechanical lock, try to find multimode option. For daytime use, it will be convenient to control from the intercom. At night, you can set the night mode, which provides a more reliable closing of the entrance group.

Operating principle

The operation of an electromechanical type lock is based on the principle of the action of a cocking bolt in contact with a spring coil. The crossbar enters the counterpart of the locking structure and keeps the door leaf closed. If the model is equipped with a solenoid, the voltage applied to the contacts will reset the spring clip. The working bolt will enter the lock and open the door. When the gate is closed, the mechanism again locks the lock.

These locks are opened by pressing a special button. Another method of operation of the product is the interaction of the pulse with the opening mechanism of the device. The signal comes from the control circuit, brought into working condition with the help of an electronic device.

A useful option for the electromechanical lock placed on the gate is the remote opening function. For its execution, voltage is supplied by a signal sent by a wireless control panel or key fob. The setting will be appreciated by the owners, who will often need to open the gate at a distance.

According to the principle of operation, electromechanical constipation is classified into four varieties:

When choosing an electromechanical lock for a gate, study the location of the body of the product you like. Manufacturers produce designs for right- and left-hand doors.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of an electromechanical lock over other locking devices are obvious. In favor of its acquisition they say:

  • Durability.
  • Affordable cost.
  • High degree of territory protection.
  • Possibility of equipment of different input groups.
  • Possibility of combination with more advanced security systems (intercom, video intercom).

And yet, an electromechanical lock available for wicket equipment is not considered a universal device. The shortcomings in its study, the experts found the following:

  • The need for a permanent electrical connection.
  • Possible failures due to temperature and humidity changes.
  • The need to apply serious effort to unlock the latch.
  • The possibility of injury to the body or damage to clothing protruding from the end of the door with a crossbar.

Be that as it may, many owners have already installed electromechanical locks on the gates and appreciated their work. More reliable protection for a private courtyard has not yet been invented.

Equipment

Before the beginning installation work it is necessary to check the lock kit for compliance with the details stated in the instructions.

Usually the set includes:

  • Lock.
  • Intercom.
  • Power unit.
  • Call panel.
  • Box for the power supply.
  • Larvae and keys.
  • Intercom wires.
  • Overhead panel for placing the calling panel.

Additionally, you will need a power supply that connects the lock and the cable. Assembling the castle is easy.

How to choose

When choosing an electromechanical type lock, it is important to pay attention to the conditions under which its operation is possible. Gates must be equipped with locks designed for outdoor use. Such products are made of stainless materials and coated with anti-corrosion compounds. They are not afraid of temperature changes and any precipitation.

Given the combination of electrical and mechanical parts in one mechanism, you should check that two types of keys are included with the device - electronic and mechanical. The master key of the first type has the form of a card or a button. The appearance of the second key is similar to ordinary keys for locks. In the event of a power outage, the owner can open the gate with a mechanical key. Optionally, you can put a model with an electric lock - the option increases the level of reliability of the device.

Any electromechanical lock, regardless of the type of construction and locking method, can be supplemented video intercom . The simultaneous use of two devices makes the private area as secure as possible.

Do-it-yourself lock installation on the gate

Ideal installation of the electromechanical lock on the gate can be performed by professional craftsmen. But if the owner cannot call them for any reason, in 2 hours he will completely cope with the task on his own. The easiest way is to put a padlock on the door. Mortise models are difficult to install and require experience.

Consider the process of installing an electromechanical overhead lock in stages.

  1. Parts of the lock are applied to the door leaf and frame and the gap formed between the device and the strike plate is evaluated. The distance should be about 5 mm, but for the gate structure it is permissible to indent a little more. The main thing is that the length of the latch provides a complete fixation.
  2. Marking for fasteners is done by applying the main part of the locking structure to the door leaf.
  3. The marked points are drilled and the mechanism is attached to the sash using self-tapping screws.
  4. Make a hole for the cylinder using a crown.
  5. IN open form the main mechanism is attached to the canvas, the counterpart is placed on the gate frame.
  6. Check the operation of the entire device.
  7. If necessary, install a keyboard, key or card reader.
  8. The power cable is connected to the lock.
  9. The stripped ends of the wire are joined to the terminals of the electrical part of the structure.
  10. Test the device by applying voltage.
  11. Check the functionality of the lock by opening and closing.
  12. After making sure that the device is working properly, close the lid.
  13. If it is necessary to install a video intercom, work is performed according to the attached instructions. The device is mounted according to the marking on the support column of the gate or gate, then the power cable is connected.
  14. Each cable is protected by a special case, putting it on the wires along the entire length.

Mortise electromechanical locks are mounted like invoices. But the peculiarity of their installation is the internal arrangement of the structure, i.e., it must be placed inside the gate or door. Such installation can only be done on doors with a double leaf, which is unusual for gates (such doors are rare). If the entrance group has a double leaf, it is better to equip the gate with a mortise lock. Additional protection will extend the life of the product.

Operation and care

The electromechanical lock installed on the gate can be used in different ways:

  • By using the key.
  • Through the supply of an electrical impulse from the intercom.
  • By pressing a mechanical button on the body, if the lock is overhead.

Any owner of a private house wants to protect his yard from intruders. And the decisive moment in this matter is right choice gate lock. They are different - from the good old padlocks and mortise locks to complex security systems. The most popular option today is the electric gate lock. This article will tell you about the features of the selection and operation of such devices.

Advantages and disadvantages of an electric lock

First of all, let's understand the principles of operation of an electrically controlled lock. From the outside, the device is opened with a key (magnetic or conventional), and from the inside - either by a button located on the inside of the door, or remotely, using an intercom.

Important details in the device of the electric lock are two crossbars - cocking and working. When the door closes, the first cocks the spring, and the second enters the part of the lock, called the reciprocal. At the same time, the door is locked, and it becomes impossible to open it by simply pulling the handle. When we need to unlock the gate, with the help of a button, an electric signal is applied to the solenoid of the electromagnet in the lock, the spring retainer is reset, and the working bolt is pulled back into the lock under its action.

A modern electric gate lock has the following "pluses":

  • to open the door, there is no need to go outside (if you have an electric lock installed on the gate with an intercom);
  • magnetic keys are difficult to fake;
  • resistance to environmental influences allows you to extend the life of the lock;
  • electric locks provide a high level of security for your home.

The disadvantages of the electric lock on the gate include, first of all, the complexity of installation (the installation of such a lock should be carried out only by an experienced specialist), as well as the dependence on the power supply and the high cost of the device itself.

However, there are several types of electrically controlled locks:

We also note that for the correct operation of the device, it is required that the control voltage is within 12 V, and the current strength is from 1.2 to 3 A, depending on the model of the lock.

LOCK ON THE GATE

ELECTROMECHANICAL - ELECTROMAGNETIC - CHOICE

There is an opinion that the installation of a reliable locking device for the gate is an unjustified excess and has no practical value. After all, you can get into the courtyard of the mansion simply by climbing over the fence.

However, for areas with reliable fencing and the presence of a perimeter alarm system, installing an electric lock on the gate becomes an important part of ensuring security.

The choice of the type and model of the lock for the gate is carried out in accordance with the following criteria:

  • level of protection against hacking and selection of keys;
  • design fault tolerance;
  • body tightness;
  • frost resistance.

Be sure to have silicone and rubber seals, various nozzles, gaskets and caps for moving parts and structural holes. Internal mechanisms must be completely protected from moisture and dust. Another important parameter is the ability to open the lock with a key from the inside and outside.

The possibility of remote control is currently one of the most important parameters when choosing locking devices. An electronic lock on the gate will not only make it possible to open it without leaving your home, but will also reliably block the possibility of penetration, since methods of selecting keys, mechanical master keys, etc. are not applicable to it.

Of the entire range of modern locking devices, only electromechanical and electromagnetic locks meet the requirements. They are widely used as part of smart home control and management systems.

The most common types of gate locks are overhead and mortise. In both cases, the housings of the devices must be protected from the side of the street with armor plates (mortise lock - on both sides) to prevent the possibility of knocking out.

ELECTROMECHANICAL LOCK FOR GATE

Due to their principle of operation, electromechanical locks have a whole list of advantages over conventional locking mechanisms. Modern manufacturers produce quite a few models with different configurations, however, the fundamental design and location internal devices they are pretty similar.

One or more crossbars made of high-strength steel can be used as a locking element. In the closed position, the crossbars are pressed by tight springs into the holes of the reciprocal plate, reliably blocking the gate. This does not make it possible to unlock the bolt by pushing, as is the case in mechanisms with a toothed shank comb.

When the device is opened, an electrical impulse is applied to the solenoid, which resets the spring retainers and draws the bolt into the body under the influence of electromagnetic induction. As a rule, an impulse is applied to the solenoid for a short period of time, after which the lock is brought to its original position.

There are models with the possibility of mechanical blocking in the open state. In this case, the functions of opening and closing the lock are duplicated using a conventional mechanical key. Consequently, the burglary resistance of such structures is significantly reduced and directly depends on the possibility of selecting master keys.

It is most expedient to use a street electromechanical lock for a gate with an electronic key.

Of the main advantages of the electromechanical lock for the gate, the following can be noted:

  • high reliability, both in terms of burglary resistance and fault tolerance;
  • the design is resistant to most types of mechanical stress;
  • convenient use. The use of Touch Memory keys significantly reduces the opening time, which can be very useful in critical situations.

LEADING MANUFACTURERS OF ELECTROMECHANICAL LOCKS

A reliable electromechanical gate lock can be purchased from the following manufacturers:

Manufacturing company from Italy. Specializes in locking mechanisms for outdoor use. Its electromechanical locking devices withstand significant temperature fluctuations, ultra-low temperatures down to -50 C, and are able to successfully operate in conditions of constant high humidity.

Trademark of "Maverick International" company, which have 6 factories in Europe and China. Electromechanical locks of this manufacturer are distinguished by a high level of burglary resistance. It is recommended to purchase outdoor CISA locks specially designed for gates. They have maximum protection against mechanical impacts and are designed for harsh operating conditions.

MingYang.

Manufacturer from China, which produces sufficiently high-quality electromechanical locks according to affordable price. In his idea, he focuses on functionality. You can purchase locks with a remote control and some other additional features.

An important addition is the compatibility of these devices with any type of intercoms. The connection is made via a relay connection.

Falcon Eye.

The trademark was registered in the Russian Federation in 2005. The main production sites are located in China. Seafood is fully adapted to the harsh operating conditions in Russia. Products have modern design, easy to use, have a long time between failures. It is positioned in the lower segment of the middle price range.

Sheriff.

Another brand from a domestic manufacturer. The main emphasis in production is on the safety of the design and use quality materials. Very reliable products with a high degree of resistance to burglary. Basic models withstand up to 300 kg per bolt.

The products of this manufacturer are widely used in safes, depository bank vaults and other facilities with increased level security.

ELECTROMAGNETIC LOCKS FOR GATES

Electromagnetic locks are of two types holding and shear. The first, as a rule, are overhead, and the second are mortise. The principle of their operation is the same and is based on the effect of electromagnetic induction. The design has no rubbing moving parts and therefore has a high degree of reliability.

The main element consists of a core made of transformer steel and a coil (winding) which is an enamel-insulated wire wound around the core.

The principle of operation of the retaining overhead electromagnetic lock is as follows. A metal plate attached to the door leaf with the help of an electromagnetic field is held by the body (fixed on the door frame) in which the core with the winding is located.

Shift electromagnetic locks have a more complex design. A box with metric crossbars is mounted directly into the door leaf. After activation of the electromagnetic coil, they move forward, blocking the door mechanically.

The use of shift electromagnetic locks for street gates is not typical. They require more careful installation and precise compliance with all tolerances. At the same time, they are more reliable and economical, since for reliable retention door leaf require much less force of electromagnetic induction.

IMPORTANT! Electromagnetic locks, unlike electromechanical ones, automatically open after a power failure, so you need to take care of an emergency power supply device.

Benefits of using electromagnetic gate locks:

  • ease of installation (for holding models);
  • high reliability of holding the gate and the impossibility of influence from the outside with the help of master keys, selection of keys, etc.;
  • compact size - devices can be disguised or placed in the internal cavities of building structures;
  • convenient use - Touch Memory keys or magnetic cards are used for opening;
  • low power consumption - some models through uninterruptible power supply devices can operate up to a day on a charge from one battery.

FEATURES OF CHOOSING ELECTROMAGNETIC LOCK

Durability and reliability.

Particular attention should be paid to the fastening with which a metal bar is installed on the gate. The housing where the electromagnetic coil is located should have as few seams as possible through which dust and moisture can get inside.

It is best if steel is used as the material for the manufacture of the case. Models with aluminum alloy cases need additional protection with external steel plates.

Corrosion protection.

The product must be coated with anti-corrosion compounds, preferably powder paint.

Compatibility with external control systems.

It is necessary to select such energy consumption parameters, which in the future will allow the use of an electromagnetic lock for an intercom or any other system remote control access.

Reliable Manufacturers:

Domestic manufacturer producing high-quality and reliable products. Gained wide popularity due to the rich range of intercoms and accessories for them. Electromagnetic locks are fully compatible with other equipment of this company.

do-it-yourself electromechanical lock on the gate

The company was founded in Ukraine in 2005. Produces a wide range of equipment for access systems. Its products are of high quality and reliability at an affordable price. All products have a certificate of conformity of the Russian Federation. And adapted to harsh operating conditions.

Electromagnetic locks of this company differ significantly in their design from the generally accepted ones. The locking element is a special curved crossbar, which is included in the reciprocal bar of a special design. When disconnected from the power supply, such a device remains in the closed state.

Thus, electromagnetic and electromechanical locks are one of the most reliable and easy-to-use locking devices that can be controlled remotely.

When choosing them, it is recommended to provide for the possibility of connecting to a video intercom or system burglar alarm. Naturally, when buying, you should pay attention to more expensive models, since the service life of cheap Chinese products is very limited.

Locks for gates, gates, garages.

Selection and operation of the castle for the street.

Now outside the window it is snowing with rain, mud and slush on the streets. Brrr. And, sitting and looking out the window at all this, I decided that it was time to write an article about the operation of locks in the harsh conditions of the street.

Doors that lead to the street meet all the time - this is entrance doors private houses and cottages, doors to the entrances of apartment buildings, doors leading to various organizations, gates, gates, garages, etc. All these doors combine severe operating conditions - frost, high humidity, or, conversely, direct Sun rays and heat over 40, and sometimes even sudden changes in temperature. Naturally, in such conditions, locking mechanisms must have certain design features, allowing such a mechanism to work for the prescribed period and maintain its characteristics in full. Unfortunately, in our State Standard 5089-2011 "Locks, Latches and Cylinder Mechanisms" there is no such thing as "outdoor locks" or anything like that, so I will be speaking from my own experience in describing these mechanisms. For convenience, we will divide the locks not only by the principle of design (electrical and mechanical), but also by type (lever, cylinder, rack, electromechanical and electromagnetic).

What characteristics should a street lock have? In my opinion, the first thing to pay attention to is the anti-corrosion properties of the mechanism. For example, locks of class 1 and 2 according to GOST are not tested for corrosion resistance of lock elements, they are intended for indoor use. The mechanism of locks of 3 and 4 classes has special coatings that prevent metal corrosion, and some locks are generally made of stainless steel. I prefer good galvanic coatings (zinc, nickel is better), less often, powder painting. Locks made of stainless steel are rare, and their price is quite high, while the lock is not completely made of this material, but, as a rule, only the body and the deadbolt. Most locks have a body, crossbars and a mechanism made of galvanized steel, spacers in such locks made of plastic, brass or bronze - this is the "golden mean".

The next important factor is the “impenetrability” of the case, i.e. the absence of holes, especially in the top of the case, through which atmospheric precipitation will enter the lock. This is especially true for overhead locks, the case of which is located directly on the street, as well as mortise locks in "hollow" doors that do not have any skin. In such cases, it is very desirable to have a visor above the door, covering the lock from precipitation and direct sunlight. There is a funny example in my practice: a steel protective door on the street had such small gaps between the leaf and the box that in the summer, in the afternoon, when direct sunlight hit the door, the metal of the door expanded and blocked the door. The owner poured several buckets of water over the door, after which the door cooled down, and he went home.

Another characteristic (although perhaps some will disagree with me) is the presence of sufficient clearances in the lock mechanism. For example, in modern “advanced” cylinders, the gaps of the mechanism are minimal and are calculated in microns, this is done to increase protection, small gaps are harder to “probe” for a potential burglar, but this design also has disadvantages - the amount of moisture that has entered the lock mechanism with small gaps and frozen there, you need disproportionately less than for a "sovdepovsky" castle with gaps the size of a finger ...

I would like to draw your attention to another important detail - the lubrication of the lock. In my opinion, you should not use thick lubricants, such as grease and lithol, since the lock body is not airtight and such a lubricant, mixing with dust and fragments of the mechanism that form during the operation of the lock, turns into a real abrasive, thereby reducing " life path» of the castle at times. Also, thick lubricants are of poor quality and corny freeze in winter, so much so that people break the keys, trying to turn the lock. For example, in expensive Italian locks it is very rare to find any lubricant, and in cheap Chinese “handicrafts” the details of the lock simply “float” in it. That is why I recommend using liquid lubricants such as WD-40 or silicone sprays to lubricate locks and cylinder mechanisms.

Street locks. Locks for gates and garages. Installing a lock on a front door

A range of lock products swing gate very wide. In stores, you can find both locks designed exclusively for garages (for example, locks from the Kirov factory with a cross-shaped key), and dual-use locks that can be installed on both doors and gates. It is worth noting here that we are talking about swing gates, not sliding ones, for the latter there are special locks with a hook-shaped crossbar, and I will not discuss them within the framework of this “opus”.

The first thing that distinguishes gate locks is, first of all, the dimensions of the lock, as well as the projection of the crossbars. As a rule, push handles are not installed on the gate, and the lock is actuated only by a key. Also, on large gate leaves, the use of vertical rods is relevant, since the dimensions of the leaves are large here, and it is possible to “squeeze” one corner, thereby gaining access to the protected premises. Vertical rods can also compensate for the low rigidity of the leaf, slightly increasing the protective properties of the gate. It should be noted that vertical "struts" are very demanding on the quality of installation, their distortions are unacceptable, they must be made of the lightest possible profile in order to reduce the load on the key that drives them.

The lock on the gate has another difference - the fastening of the lock to the sash. Here, the flight of the installer's imagination is not limited, you can also make a "chassis" for the lock, you can install it inset, etc. I will only note that the lock should be installed as firmly as possible, using threaded connections (there are cases that it is simply welded, and this is unacceptable for a number of reasons).

When choosing such a lock, you should pay attention both to the products of Italian brands - Cisa, Mottura, Iseo, and to Russian manufacturers. The Italians have now become too expensive for many, which our factories are very happy about, I think. From overhead locks, I would recommend Guardian 20.05, Barrier 3 and 4, Mattem ZN4, Elbor Sapphire, and, for example, Kerberos. Of the more budgetary ones - Elbor Granite, Kirov castles Stalf, St. Petersburg castles Cerber, etc. To mortise locks, the most suitable for gates, I would include any "heavy" lever (!) Models of the factories Guardian, Mettem, Kerberos, Border (they or Pro-Sam) and some models of locks Crit. All of these mechanisms have their advantages and disadvantages, and it is worth choosing them, taking into account the design of your gate.

Street locks. Gate locks.

The variety of designs and materials of gates is so great that one could write a separate article, and more than one. Let's divide them all into two types, gates from steel profile or corner, having a solid sheet of steel on one side, and the rest. The rest I will include gratings, gates made of corrugated board, all kinds of combinations of aluminum profiles and sandwich panels, etc. On the gates of the first type, as a rule, the choice of lock for installation is practically unlimited, and the gates of the second type have an unpleasant feature: the small size of the lock , a limited place for its installation and the presence of porches and ledges that do not allow the installation of an overhead lock. Therefore, the choice of a lock for gates of the second type should be individual, and I will not describe it here.

And so, we have a steel gate, maybe even lined with something, maybe even has forged elements. First of all, let's define the principle of the castle. Will we have an intercom? Then the lock is put electromechanical (less often electromagnetic). I can say one word about electromechanics - Italy. You can of course add a second China.

How best to protect your site - put a combination lock on the gate

But it is better to leave Italy, and explain - Iseo. If you want to install a lock once and for all, then this word and about $ 100 will be enough for you. Overhead electromechanical gate locks in Rostov Iseo are the best on the market (in my humble opinion), with correct installation and operation, they are reliable and resistant to all weather conditions. IN last years, a large number of Chinese electromechanical locks have appeared on the market, they cost from 1,500 to 3,000 rubles, the quality is often not bad, but they are far from Iseo, and you choose which lock to install. There are also electric mortise locks. From the inside, they are opened with a push handle, from the outside with a key or an ACS “tablet”. Basically, these locks are made in Europe and their price is high. Another point: the latches of electromechanical locks must be lubricated frequently! At least once every 2-3 months.

If the intercom is not planned, then an ordinary mechanical lock is installed. It can be both mortise and overhead, preferably lever, but it is also possible to install a cylinder lock (it is possible to replace the lock cylinder in it). Overhead, it is better to put the lever models described in the section above “locks on the gate”, at a price of 1000 rubles. The choice of mortise locks is large, many models are suitable, for convenience, I would recommend using lever handles, since the gate will not always be closed, and the latch, actuated by the handle, will fix the door, preventing gusts of wind and any other animals from opening your gate. About handles for street locks, I will write below, I will give a list of lock models in the same place.

Street locks. Handles and locks for entrance doors.

Pens.

In my opinion, the most suitable handles for outdoor use are products painted with powder paint, fixed with a coupler through and through. Any chrome and "gold" ones will peel off in less than a year, but painted ones will last much longer. Therefore, I recommend...

Mortise locks for the street:

Guardian 30.11 (there are painted handles for them)

Kale 252 (both lever and cylinder)

Elbor Granite and Lapis Lazuli (poor quality in recent years, considered only as a very budget option)

In principle, any cylinder and lever locks Mettem (there are also budget ones)

Overhead locks for the street:

Guardian 20.05

Mettem ZN4

Stalf ZN 053 and ZN075

Offhand, nothing else comes to mind, I will gradually add more ...

Sincerely, Sergey, master of locks in Rostov on pro-zamok.ru

Installation of an electromechanical lock for a gate

Keeping your home secure is a top priority for every homeowner. Along with a variety of alarm systems and anti-burglary mechanisms, the installation of a special electromechanical lock on the gate also proved to be excellent.

Such a barrier will be a serious obstacle in the way of an intruder and will not allow him to quietly and quickly penetrate further. The second advantage is that you can open the gate to a welcome guest without leaving your home on the principle of an apartment intercom. Before asking for a similar novelty in stores, check out a brief educational program on electromechanical locks.

The principle of operation and types of mechanism

The entire range of such products can be divided into four types. It is easiest to classify locks depending on the mechanism and principle of operation. According to the type of location, locks will be divided into overhead and mortise. When buying, you should also ask what direction the doors are intended for: when installing a right-hand or left-hand lock, there will be some nuances. Of course, in order to place the mechanism on the street, it must also have sufficient strength against weather conditions.

Classification by mechanism type:

Some models are also equipped with an additional device - an intercom, everyone is familiar with the principle of its operation, especially apartment owners. For a private house, such a device will also not be superfluous, especially if the site is quite large and it is problematic to constantly go out and open the doors.

Along with the indisputable advantages of using electromechanical locks for gates and gates, such devices also have a number of design nuances that can be attributed to disadvantages.

On the video - an electromechanical lock for the gate:

Negative sides

  • When opening, the bolt of the lock is not completely hidden, but protrudes from the plane of the door leaf, which can cause injuries, damage to clothing, and simply a distraction.
  • For extreme use, such as heavy rainfall and low temperatures, the mechanism may fail. At the same time, it is extremely necessary to take care of the protective visor for the lock during installation.
  • Mandatory connection to the power supply may also not always be convenient.

    How to install an electromechanical lock on a gate

    Laying the power cord during installation can also be attributed to inconvenience in use.

Despite some shortcomings in the work, electromagnetic locks have proven themselves well in operation, therefore, among all types of locking devices, there is a steady demand for them. Before buying, as mentioned earlier, you should carefully study the design of the lock and obtain comprehensive information from the seller.

On the video - an intercom with an electromechanical lock on the gate:

Rushing to purchase a kit is not very rational; this thing should serve you without problems for many years. Pricing will also be an important factor. Electromagnetic locks are expensive by default, well above the usual standard models. This fact can be explained not only by the design, but also by the build quality, which bona fide manufacturers guarantee.

Before buying, you should also take care of who will carry out the installation and level qualified training specialist. Simple overhead models of an electromagnetic lock are quite capable of being installed independently, the main thing is that you will need this detailed instructions and a set of necessary tools.

Self-assembly

It is still desirable to entrust such a device to be mounted by a specialist, but they are also suitable for self-installation. In order to perform the installation of an electromechanical lock with your own hands, you will first need to take into account the design and type of the locking mechanism. It is easier to install an overhead model, but you will have to tinker with a mortise lock and such work is not always justified: you can damage the system or reduce the security effect by improper installation.

On the video - installation of an electromechanical lock on the gate:

Installation

  1. Marking in place, taking into account the actual dimensions of the castle.
  2. Through the fixture of the device, make the necessary holes in the door leaf.
  3. A hole for the cylinder is made separately.
  4. The lock is fixed on the door leaf and the wicket frame, the closing of the crossbar is regulated.
  5. Connecting the lock to the power supply.
  6. If necessary, a display for a digital code or a magnetic card and key reader are additionally installed. At this stage, you can perform additional protection of the mechanism from weather influences. This will significantly increase the life of the lock.
  7. System control, performing several opening and closing operations with possible system debugging.

It is also desirable to secure the power wire with a plastic or rubber casing, which will also play a decorative role, masking an unaesthetic appearance.

Manufacturers and estimated cost

The price range for electromagnetic locks is quite wide, as for all goods, the price / quality ratio applies here, so it is simply irrational to skimp on such a purchase. If after a short time the lock fails, it will be quite problematic to prove the fault or defect of the manufacturer, especially if the installation was carried out independently.

Otherwise, if preference was given to a trusted manufacturer with an excellent business reputation, warranty obligations and long-term experience in this field, you will be protected as much as possible from low-quality products. The only drawback is that the cost of such an acquisition will be many times higher.

Estimated cost of an electromagnetic lock from different manufacturers

Choose suitable option You can study the catalogs of products both in specialized stores and on the Internet. The price range can vary significantly depending on different regions, the main rule is not to rush to buy in order to choose the best option.

Corrugated gate lock: types and basics of choice

The fence is needed in order to protect the territory from unwanted guests, as well as in order to household plot had a finished, aesthetic appearance.

The most common material for the construction of fences is C20 corrugated board, specifications which give it aesthetics, durability and reliability. And in order to prevent unauthorized persons from penetrating beyond it, it is necessary to choose and install the lock for the gate from corrugated board correctly. True, it can be quite difficult for an ordinary consumer to navigate what the market offers.

It will be much easier to do this if you make some kind of classification of castles, which can be classified according to these two criteria:

  • By installation type
  • Depending on locking mechanism

Corrugated fence locks by installation type

After the gate from the profiled sheet with your own hands, the fence, and the gate are installed, it is the right time to think about choosing a lock. For gates made of corrugated board, you can buy the following locks:

  • hinged
  • mortise
  • Overhead

Padlocks, although they are rather cumbersome and not always convenient mechanisms, do not cease to be purchased for installation on gates made of corrugated board. And this despite the fact that today the market offers more modern models.

The padlock is made of anti-corrosion material, so it is not afraid of snow or rain.

Depending on the design, padlocks for corrugated fences are:

  • Classic, in which there is a mechanical secret and it opens with a key
  • Code ones open without a key, but after setting a certain code combination

For gates of hollow structures, a mortise lock is suitable, which cuts directly into the leaf itself. Their installation is more laborious, but this does not diminish their popularity.

Box, flat or rim locks are easier to install than previous models. During installation, the canvas is not damaged, and the installation itself is reduced to screwing. In order to unlock it from the outside, you need a key, but inside there may also be a key or a latch.

Tip: to protect against the influence of precipitation, it is advisable to build a special visor over the castle.

Types of locks depending on the type of locking mechanism

There are three groups of locks in this category:

  • Lever
  • Cylinder
  • Smartlocks

The levers are considered the most reliable, and the reliability is determined by the number of levers. His big sizes are a significant drawback, since it may not fit all gates. You can buy it in specialized stores, and the price starts from 550-650 rubles.

Cylinder mechanisms are simple and reliable. The degree of protection depends on the larva, more precisely on its complexity, and this criterion also affects the price of the entire castle. Its plus is that if the lock is broken, then it is enough to simply replace the larva, and there is no need to completely dismantle the entire structure.

Gate lock: do-it-yourself selection and installation

The cost of such locks is slightly lower, and you can buy it for 300 rubles.

Smartlock is a gate lock made of corrugated board, which is the most modern and in order to open it, a code, a fingerprint, a retinal pattern can be used. Their price is quite high and will cost the buyer from 3,000 to 11,500 rubles.

How to choose and install a mortise, overhead and padlock in a corrugated gate?

In order for the mortise lock to be reliable protection, it is necessary to pay attention to its choice. This takes into account such parameters as the ratio of the width of the gate itself and the width of the front plate of the lock itself, and it is also necessary to take into account the depth of the lock body.

If the gate has a hollow structure, then you can immediately start marking the place for the mortise lock at the end of the gate. Cut a niche for further installation, drill holes for fastening, make a hole for the larva on the canvas, as well as holes for handles, and this preparatory work can be considered completed.

Direct installation consists of inserting the lock into the prepared niche and fixing it with self-tapping screws, after which the rod for the handles and the handles themselves are inserted.

Installation work with an overhead lock can be reduced to three main stages:

  1. Make markings on the gate
  2. In accordance with the markings made, drill holes for screws for fastening and for the core
  3. Lock and handle attachment

When choosing a padlock, it is necessary to take into account the fact that it will need metal eyes. Eyelets must be reliable, durable, so it is best to choose metal ones. They require welding to install.

Eyelets are flat, but they are only suitable for wooden doors, as they are installed flush. But for a gate made of corrugated board, you will need corner eyes. They are welded at the same height, but in such a way that they do not interfere with each other when opening the gate.

When choosing a lock for a gate made of corrugated board, you need to understand that it should serve not only as a reliable protection of the area around the house. In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to how easy and convenient it is to use, because it will have to endure numerous openings and closings over a long period. It is also important to think about protection from high humidity, frost.

It is better to buy locks for gates in specialized stores. Store consultants will help you choose the most suitable model castle, which will:

  • Serve as reliable protection for the entire yard
  • Practical to use
  • Resistant to changes in humidity and temperature
  • Will defend the territory

Video about installing a lock in a gate from corrugated board

This video shows the basic steps for installing a lock in a gate.

In order to protect your site as much as possible from outside penetration, many today are not limited to installing ordinary heck and bolts. Electromechanical locks for street gate and other complex devices are no longer a curiosity today, moreover, it is becoming increasingly rare to find a yard in which the gates are locked without the use of sophisticated electronics.

Combination of electrical and mechanical

Varieties by type of installation

The electromechanical lock for the gate, by and large, does not differ too much from the traditional one. mechanical constipation. A key feature of the design of such devices is the presence of an electrical part that provides control of the locking mechanism using a code keypad, a key receiver or a magnetic card.

An electronic device unlocks the lock mechanism, and due to this, it opens.

By design, such devices are:

  • Overhead. Outwardly, they are almost indistinguishable from a simple overhead lock. The external placement of the cylinder makes it possible to open the gate in case of an unexpected power outage. From the inside there is also a mechanical element for forced opening, so you should not worry that the sash will be locked in the locked position.

A gate with an electromechanical lock can open both inward and outward - for this, you should select the appropriate modification. It is also worth paying attention to the orientation of the lock body, since for right-handed and left-handed leaves they may differ.

  • Mortise. Are established both on entrance doors, and on gate in fences. "Advanced" models are equipped with additional bolts (vertical crossbars included in the three-point locking system), and are also combined with intercoms. Such .

Note! The most effective is the system that operates in two modes: "day" is controlled from the intercom, and "night" provides the most reliable locking of the gate.

Operating principle

In addition to placement, electromechanical gate locks are also classified according to the principle of operation. Depending on how the mechanical deadbolt is locked and unlocked, the devices are:

  • Electroblocking. When closed, the latch fits into the groove on the striker plate and securely fixes the sash. To open the gate, it is necessary to supply power: in this case, the spring retainer is reset and the latch is brought back into the body. You can retract the latch either with a key or with a magnetic card.

Note! Models with electric interlocks are equipped with very powerful locking springs, so the bolts are equipped with a carbide tip that reduces wear.

  • Motor. The mechanism is driven by a miniature (24 V) electric motor. Due to the fact that the latch of a closed device is constantly under pressure, it is almost impossible to wring out the bolt. At the same time, some motor models allow you to select the number of bolts for activation: in daytime mode, one latch is used, and at night all strikers are activated.

An important feature of motorized locks is the time delay in opening. The latch is inserted into the case not immediately after the signal from the reader is received, but after some time, which is either selected in the settings or set initially in the lock design. Such .

  • Solenoid. Another type of locking devices, in which the bolt moves under the influence of magnetic fields. Solenoid devices can be equipped, for example, with garage sectional doors with a wicket, but it is worth remembering that the presence of current in the network is necessary for the lock to work.
  • Electric strikes are practically ideal electromechanical locks for gates. When voltage is applied from the controller, the latch is released and the latch can be opened by turning the handle. This design is quite convenient, because, if necessary, it allows you to leave the gate open.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages that these devices possess are obvious: they are high reliability, durability, and the possibility of using them in a variety of situations. And the price of devices varies widely, so if you wish, you can choose a completely budget model.

In addition, electromechanical schemes can be combined with other security systems, and by installing a video intercom with an electromechanical lock on the gate, you will be able to decide whether to let the visitor in or go out on your own without leaving your home.

However, this design cannot be called universal. This is due to a number of features that many experts attribute to disadvantages:

  • The lock bolt protruding from the end of the blade can cause damage to clothing or injury.
  • In some cases, considerable effort is required to unlock the latch.
  • Prone to failure at low temperatures and high humidity.
  • The need for a permanent connection to the mains.

Despite this, many still choose electromechanical locking devices for this, and therefore below we will describe how to install a padlock on a gate, gate or door.

Lock installation

Ideally, the installation of an electromechanical lock on the gate should be carried out by certified craftsmen. The professionalism of the performers is especially important in the case when a complex multicomponent system is being installed.

And yet, if you have the instructions for the lock at hand, you can install it yourself. First of all, this concerns rather simple overhead models, since mortise devices are mounted much more difficult.

All work is carried out according to the following scheme:

  • We apply parts of the lock to the frame and sash in such a way as to assess the gap between the mechanism and the striker plate. The optimal distance is 5 mm, however, small indents are allowed for gate structures - as long as the length of the latch provides fixation.
  • We apply the main part of the lock to the leaf of the gate, and apply markings for fastening. According to the marking, we drill holes, and fix the device on the sash and with the help of the self-tapping screws included in the kit.
  • With a crown we make a hole for installing the cylinder.
  • We fasten the main part with an open lid to the canvas, and the counterpart to the gate frame. We check the operation of the mechanism.

    • Separately (if the design provides for it), we install a keyboard or a key-card reader.

  • Using plastic casings, we carry out the power cable to the lock. We connect the stripped ends of the wire to the terminals of the electrical part of the locking device, after which we apply voltage in test mode.
  • We test the powered lock for opening and closing. In the absence of malfunctions, close the lid.

conclusions

By choosing and installing an electromechanical mortise lock on the gate, or its simpler overhead version, you provide reliable protection your home from uninvited guests.

But it is worth remembering that such locking devices are complex, therefore, they require some care. In the presented video in this article you will find Additional information on this topic.

The dream of any inhabitant is a safe comfortable existence. Peace and security are needed everywhere, even if you are in your house or apartment. Many inventions have been made in this direction. One of the innovative is the lock for the gate on an electromechanical basis.

What is an electromechanical lock

The electromechanical lock functions on the basis of applying a certain voltage from the power supply, which is connected to the intercom. In this case, such a device can be unlocked with keys. This creates convenience in case of a power outage.

This type of castle is quite common. The scope of their application is quite wide, which is due to a wide range of products and the possibility of mounting on various types of doors, including the gate.

Description

Electromechanical lock Abloy

Electromechanical models have two varieties: on a mortise and overhead basis:

  • Electromechanical mortise lock does not have a body and is not equipped with a mechanized button for opening. Its installation is carried out from the inside of the gate. The gate is opened by means of a signal from the intercom or a key.
  • Rim lock also installed from the inside of the gate. The opening of such a lock is carried out by means of a mechanized button located on its body, by means of a key or an electric signal coming from the intercom.

Operating principle

All models work in the same way. They are able to keep the door in the closed position by means of a deadbolt or bolt:

  • If the basis is the motor, then the lock belongs to the category of motor devices.
  • When controlling the crossbar by means of a solenoid or an electromagnet to a solenoid model.
  • It is believed that the most optimal model designed for locking the gate is a motor type. But the solenoid lock has its advantage. The level of its response to an electrical signal is much higher. Therefore, this type is given greater preference, since the number of openings and closings of the gate is quite high.

Equipment

So, you have made your choice, and you are faced with the task of installing a new electromechanical lock on the gate. As a rule, the complete set of this product consists of:

  • lock case made of durable steel;
  • power unit;
  • intercom;
  • panel for calls;
  • a set of keys to the lock;
  • wires;
  • power supply box;
  • cable for connecting the lock to the power supply.

This is a standard set of products. You can install the lock on your own, relying on the instructions attached to it.

Which castle to choose

  • Electromechanical overhead locks are visually no different from ordinary models. The cylinder is inside. This allows you to open the device even without electricity. From the inside, the mechanism is stuffed with unlocking the sash.
  • Mortise locks have a day and night mode of operation. In the night, all latches are involved, and in the daytime only one operates. It is possible to expand the functionality of the lock by adding locking through three points. The lock can be supplemented with bolts on the sides. Its mechanisms are very different.
  • Electroblocking view requires current supply. It is opened with a key or a magnetic card. When buying, pay attention to the material from which the crossbar is made. The best option are hard alloys.
  • Motor based. It works by means of an electric motor. If you have closed the lock, then you will not be able to squeeze the bolt. Motor locks open the gate with a delay.

How to choose

  • Be guided by the direction in which your gate unlocks.
  • Consider the thickness of the iron sheet from which the gate is made, the design of the gate itself and the frame. Depending on these indicators, either an invoice or a mortise model is chosen.
  • Determine the control method. You must be sure that it is compatible with the access control system.
  • Determine the power supply of the device. Locks opened by means of short electrical impulses, can be powered by control devices. Devices that require uninterrupted power supply require a separate power supply.
  • Consider the specifications for use. Not all models are equally resistant to moisture, dirt and low temperatures.

Overview of the best models

An equally important indicator when choosing a mortise type of lock is its manufacturer. Judging by its popularity, one can argue about the quality of products. The most famous brand in Russian market became Cisa.

In terms of popularity, it is in no way inferior to products from the company Abloy. It mainly produces models on the solenoid.

The brand is in high demand Accord Tec. The locks of this company are made of durable steel coated with zinc, which makes it possible to successfully use these locks for gates. Devices are not afraid of moisture. At the same time, the locks of this company can be installed both in a horizontal and vertical position. They are universal and suitable for any side of the door.

Overhead models are presented by the manufacturer " Policy". A design feature of this model is that there is no handle to open the latch from the inside.

Overhead locks are also presented from the Italian company Cisa1A630.00.0 series Elettrika. The case of this lock is made of high quality steel. The lock uses a rotary bolt. This model has an excellent locking system without noise.

Another model worthy of attention is a lock made in Taiwan under the label EL-371. It can be equipped with additional devices, namely a memory block. It can work together with intercom. However, it can be unlocked mechanically. This perfect option for the gate. At the same time, the model is universal. The switch reports opening or closing.

Specifications

When choosing an electromechanical lock for a gate, you should pay attention to the main technical characteristics of the product:

  • what constitutes the basis of the product, an electromagnet or electromechanics;
  • what type is it, mortise or consignment note;
  • required voltage: 12 Volts, 24 Volts, 48 Volts;
  • what type of power supply is presented, with a combined, permanent or variable connection;
  • What material is the base made of?
  • the presence of a sensor that fixes the position of the gate, the state of the lock itself, mechanical blocking, a button for unlocking;

Prices

Prices vary markedly and depend entirely on the feature set of the device. Electromagnetic locks are presented in a wide range from 700 rubles per simple models up to 5000 for medium quality models. Above 5000 there are electromechanical locks on a magnetic basis.

Installation

Installing an electromechanical lock for a gate is not difficult. It will be performed by any man who knows how to wield a drill. The most unified installation scheme is the use of two cables to power the intercom and the lock itself.

Work proceeds according to the following plan:

  • The body of the lock should be attached to the gate for marking.
  • Holes are drilled according to the markup. The device is fastened with self-tapping screws.
  • The hole for installing the cylinder is carried out by means of a crown.
  • The body is installed on the gate, and the counter - on its frame. The working condition of the lock should be checked.
  • If there are devices for writing off electromagnetic cards, keys or keyboards, then they must also be installed.
  • A cable is connected to the product.
  • After making the connection, apply voltage in a test order, and then check the operation of the lock.

Installing a mortise model has practically no differences from installing an overhead model. It is located in the inner part of the gate. The main stages of work are similar.

Exploitation

There are a number of operating conditions:

  • Before opening or closing the lock, make sure that the door is closed with a latch;
  • The lock can deteriorate if you slam the gate hard when closing;
  • After the expiration of the warranty period, if necessary, lubricate the internal parts of the lock with special lubricants. In this case, the castle is disassembled.
  • When disassembling the lock without using the proper tools, the spring may pop out of the lock mechanism.

Adviсe:

  • When determining the dimensions of the lock, one should rely on the characteristics of the gate. For the gate small size do not buy too large a model. And vice versa, the larger and heavier the gate, the larger model of the castle is required for it.
  • Don't save money on a locking device. You should not buy cheap models. They wear out quickly. It is better to choose quality products. Thus, you will save yourself from many problems.
  • Pay attention to the assembly of the lock. A quality model has a tight closed case. There should be no cracks or slots in the lock.
  • Check the smooth operation of the locking mechanism. How the key is inserted freely or something interferes with it.
  • Check the package contents of the device and the presence of a protective corrugation for electric cable, as well as the presence of additional keys.

Advantages and disadvantages

All the positive and negative characteristics of the product are obvious.

The advantages include:

  • long work;
  • high level of reliability;
  • Possibility of combination with intercom.

The disadvantages of professionals include the following:

  • a protruding crossbar design from the end of the door, which can injure a passing person or tear his clothes;
  • applying considerable effort to unlock the latch;
  • low temperature and high humidity can disable the device;
  • current must be supplied continuously.

An electromechanical lock is a useful and convenient invention. No need to run and see who came when you hear the call. It is enough to look at the intercom screen and press the button that opens the gate if you want to let in visitors.

Device selection

There are outdoor and indoor models. Since it is required to pick up, then preference should be given to models of the external type.

The differences between the locks are in the control method, the allowable electrical voltage, the type and material of the door on which the device can be installed.

The seller of a specialized store, having found out all your conditions, will offer several options to choose from. In addition to electromechanical, you can be offered an electromagnetic lock, an electric latch.

These models have their advantages, but as practice shows, electromechanical is more suitable for a street gate. Choose a lock that can be opened with ordinary keys in case of a power outage.

An electromechanical lock is more expensive than, for example, an electromagnetic lock, but at the same time it is more practical, durable and reliable.

Equipment

The classic package includes the following items: power supply, intercom, call panel, lock itself, keys to it, overlay panel, wires and box for the power supply, installation instructions.

With all these accessories, self-installation lock on the gate will not require much work. You must strictly follow the instructions to avoid mistakes.

The lock is opened in several ways: by pressing the opening button on the intercom or with the help of keys.

List of tools and consumables

Installing an electromechanical lock will require the following tools:

  1. Combined cable;
  2. Strong metal wire, 3-5mm in diameter;
  3. Power tools (drill, grinder, drills);
  4. Insulating tape, mounting clamps;
  5. Locksmith tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers).

Product installation

Before installing the electric lock, read the instructions in detail. It describes in detail: phased installation and connection diagram of the device. Studying the instructions is necessary, because due to erroneous actions, some elements of the lock can be damaged.

The installation of the external lock begins with the marking of the holes, by applying it to the attachment point. The marker marks the places for drilling holes.

Then, holes are drilled with a drill, and with the help of fasteners, the lock is installed on the gate.

If the electromechanical lock is of an internal type, then first you need to cut a recess at the end of the door with a grinder, corresponding to the dimensions of the lock.

Then the hole is marked for the entry of the crossbar. A metal striker will help make this step easier. Attach the striker to the attachment point. Align it so that it is directly opposite the lock and mark the place for the deadbolt

Cabling

A combination cable must be purchased if it is not included. It simultaneously feeds the lock with electricity and transmits a video signal to the intercom screen. The brand of the cable is registered in the passport of the lock, and the footage will have to be determined independently.

It is advisable to lay the cable in the shortest way from the gate to the near wall of the house. Sometimes cable laying is carried out along the fence or through the air. If the cable is laid in the air, then with it it is worth pulling a steel rope or at least a wire. This is to avoid breaking or damaging the cable when strong wind or icing.

It is possible to lay the cable underground, inside a plastic or metal pipe.

The call panel of the device should be installed on the outer perimeter of the site, you can - directly on the gate. The height at which the electric lock entry panel is installed is indicated in the product data sheet.

That's all - your installation was successful, now you don't have to run out to the gate every time to let in visitors.
