The bathroom is a very important room in the home, as it allows for daily hygiene procedures. And for plumbing fixtures that perform their functional tasks in the bathroom, there are a number of modern devices that provide maximum comfort to a person during their operation. The leading place in this list is occupied by the bathroom screens, presented in the market in a wide variety.

Features and purpose

Bathroom screens, swing or rigid curtains, blinds - these are not all the names of this design. However, despite the wide choice of names, the screen does, in fact, one task. During water procedures in the bathroom, drops of water and hygiene products partially fall on all surfaces in the room, including furniture. As a result, the room has a damp microclimate, which is fraught with damage to furniture, as well as the development of fungi and mold that are dangerous to humans, which entails the need for frequent renovation works or purchasing new pieces of furniture.

In addition, a wet floor is a rather dangerous surface on which an adult and a child can easily slip.

In order to eliminate the risk of such traumatic situations, as well as the formation of excessive moisture and dampness in the bathroom, it will be enough to acquire a special screen that will significantly reduce the level of moisture in the room.

Such a kind of protective screen for the shower room is offered in supermarkets to consumers in a huge assortment, which guarantees them the purchase of a sliding, hinged or any other configuration of a screen made of durable and high-quality raw materials, having a variety of color range, featuring a wide selection of decor for partitions.

Screens, like blinds and curtains, are a very useful attribute of the bathroom, but in comparison with the above-mentioned analogs, they have a number of indisputable advantages.

  • the design provides maximum protection for walls, furniture and the floor from water splashes: by installing doors instead of curtains, not a single drop of water gets out;
  • the screen does not need any specific care and installation of a curtain spacer;
  • various microorganisms can develop on ordinary curtains - the structures under consideration completely eliminate this problem;
  • wide selection different models and forms allows you to choose a design made of glass or polycarbonate, with or without a frame, due to which the design will be in perfect harmony with the overall interior of the bathroom;
  • based on numerous customer reviews, the operation of screens is several times more comfortable, since standard curtains are often glued to the body and folded like an accordion in a wet state, swing open from a draft;
  • the raw materials from which the structures are produced have a high level of durability;
  • installation of the purchased products can be done by any home owner with his own hands.

Based on the above positive features of this product, having studied the types and models presented on the market, you can make the right choice.

Varieties

All commercially available screens can be classified based on the following criteria:

  • method of opening the doors of the structure;
  • configuration features;
  • the type of raw materials used for the production of the screen.

Bearing in mind the way you open doors, there are several types of bathroom screens.

  • Constructions made in the form of an accordion. It is worth choosing if a round or rounded bathroom is installed in the bathroom. The disadvantages of a folding shower screen include its need for some space, due to which it is better to install such models in spacious bathrooms. In addition, the connecting parts of the structure deteriorate over time, which can lead to damage to the entire product.
  • Swing types. It is recommended to purchase for large rooms with a corner bath.
  • Sliding products. The most popular model, its popularity is explained by the specifics of the configuration, due to which screens with this way of opening the sash can be installed in all rooms without exception, even in bathrooms with a small area. And what is important, such products are perfectly compatible with standard straight and semicircular bathtubs, which are equipped with almost all apartments, since they work by analogy with wardrobes.

The design features suggest the presence of three types of screens.

  • Products without a frame. Consists of several elements made mainly of glass. For safety, the corners of such products are rounded.
  • Frame screens. They consist of several leaves (on average from 2 to 6) and a supporting frame. Of all the sections, as a rule, one acts as a door. It opens with a side shift. Installation is carried out on racks, fastening to the plumbing itself is carried out using guides.
  • Combined models. They combine all the properties of the two previous types of structures. Most of these models have one part, partially installed on the profile. Thanks to this feature, it is adjusted.

Based on the variety of raw materials used, screens are divided into glass products and polycarbonate products. Each material has individual positive and negative characteristics.

As for polycarbonate, it is a rather versatile raw material, which is in demand for the arrangement of summer cottage structures, for example, greenhouses, as well as for the arrangement various partitions in the house itself.

It has a number of advantages that are relevant for structures such as a bathroom screen:

  • resistance to temperature fluctuations;
  • mechanical strength, which eliminates the risk of cracking from accidental impact;
  • neutral to most chemical cleaning compounds;
  • due to its low weight, it allows you to make and install large doors, for example, up to 190 cm high;
  • during installation, the risk of spoiling the material is minimal;
  • products from these raw materials compare favorably with their affordable cost.

Glass is a rather fragile material, but this property does not in the least affect its popularity as partitions for baths and showers.

This is explained by the presence of the advantages of raw materials, among which the following can be noted:

  • not subject to decay and corrosion;
  • has a good level of resistance to chemical compounds;
  • fungus and mold do not form on the glass;
  • the operational life of glass screens significantly exceeds that of plastic products, the installation of textile curtains will also not differ in durability;
  • a small indicator of thermal conductivity;

Glass screens with different colorful decors allow you to transform the interior of the bathroom by color accents, which is not possible using plastic partitions.

Popular models of glass bathroom screens are:

  • sliding glass screen Cascade 170x150 cm with three doors;
  • Primo 85x140 cm;
  • front screen with Sensea Optima towel holder 140x85 cm;
  • Mezzo 170x150 cm clear glass.

Criterias of choice

When choosing a screen, it is necessary to take into account a number important features, which are inherent in this or that model:

  • before ordering the structure, appropriate measurements should be taken in the room, taking into account that there must be a distance between the ceiling and the edge of the product to ensure ventilation;
  • for walls that do not have a perfectly flat surface, it is better to purchase a structure with adjustable hinges;
  • when choosing a screen model, it is necessary to take into account the size of the room so that the purchased products do not become an obstacle in the bathroom;

For small rooms it is better to opt for transparent screens;

  • the service life of the entire product largely depends on the reliability of the fittings;
  • if the walls of the structure are made of material different colors, it will be useful to equip additional lighting in the area of \u200b\u200bits installation;
  • in the combined bathrooms, you can install a side screen 90x90 cm in a transparent design, which will not visually burden the space;
  • high-quality installation is an important component on which the durability of the screen will depend.

Installation methods

The installation of a glass screen can be done by hand. In some cases, the technology may be slightly different, but in general step-by-step instruction installation includes the following steps:

  • first of all, you need to purchase a working tool: fasteners, a hammer drill and a drill, a sealant and a gun, as well as a level and masking tape;
  • first, a profile is fixed to the wall, which acts as a kind of fence for such a curtain;
  • you need to get the rail out of it and use the level to mark the attachment points;
  • holes are made in these places;
  • the profile is treated with a sealant and attached to the surface;

  • the glass sheet is installed in the profile and fixed with fasteners, without twisting them to the maximum;
  • a seal is inserted into the left distance between the structural elements, after which all the screws are tightened to the end;
  • all existing gaps between the wall and the screen are filled with silicone;
  • after the composition has completely solidified (after about 24 hours), you can use the bath for its intended purpose.

Shower cubicle arranged with my own hands, will not only make your stay more comfortable, but also save money. Homemade boxing will save you from the cost of attracting outside and not always conscientious workers. Equally important is the moral satisfaction received from the results of one's work. Isn't it true?

We will tell you how a shower cabin should be built in a private house with our own hands, we will help in choosing the optimal plumbing device. We will show you how to develop a project and bring the idea of \u200b\u200bbuilding a hygienic homemade product to life.

The article presented by us describes the process of building and arranging a shower step by step. The technology for installing the booth and connecting it to the sewer largely depends on the chosen modification of the pallet.

Before proceeding directly to the description of the assembly process, we will briefly consider the main types of shower stalls available for sale, the criteria for their selection.

Variety of models: which is better to choose

The shower enclosure is simple construction from the pallet and curtains. Instead of walls, which are typical for a full-fledged shower stall, the walls of the room are used. The shower enclosure has no ceiling. Its main advantages are low cost and compactness.

The shower enclosure is one of the simplest, most convenient and cheapest models of shower stalls, takes up a minimum of space and is suitable for self-assembly

The more sophisticated models have a roof and walls. Expensive multifunctional units have rich technical equipment: Turkish bath or Sharko shower, scented steam mode, different types of hydromassage, additional functions, various lights.

An expensive model of a shower cubicle with a hydromassage function, lighting and a deep tray. Requires not only sufficient space for installation, but also the necessary pressure in the water supply

Such booths are controlled by a complex electronic system. Before buying an expensive booth equipped with a hydromassage function, you first need to find out the level of water pressure in the pipes.

Combined showers are a kind of compromise for those who like to take a bath with hydromassage and have a full-fledged shower at home. Combined models are distinguished by original and stylish design - on the market they are often positioned as home spa centers.

It is to the pallet of the product that increased requirements are imposed. A high-quality pallet must withstand a heavy load, and with the maximum permissible weight of the user, it must not crack, bend or deform.

Shower trays are made from different materials.

Most popular models:

  • faience;
  • made of artificial stone;
  • enameled;
  • acrylic.

Faience... To all famous materialused in the manufacture of toilets. The earthenware tray is completely hygienic, easy to clean and can withstand a lot of weight.

The disadvantage of earthenware is a strong "causticity" of the material: the surface of the pallet can be damaged even from falling, for example, a glass glass

Fake diamond - reliable and durable material, beautiful and hygienic, but expensive.

Enamelled pallets for shower stalls are cheap and durable. Of the shortcomings, only the fragility of the enamel should be noted. However, the enamel coating can be easily restored or replaced with acrylic. An additional disadvantage is the crash of falling water onto the metal surface of the pallet.

Acrylic pallets are the most popular. The acrylic surface does not absorb dirt at all, warms up instantly, does not darken over time.

Scratches on acrylic are completely invisible - this is an important point, since pallets are often scratched when the shower stall is assembled by hand, especially for the first time

Disadvantage acrylic pallets - inconvenience in installation, since the installation of a special frame is required. As such, an aluminum structure is used with adjusting screws, with which you can select the desired height of the pallet.

What are the curtains?

The second most important element is the cab curtains, which can be hinged and sliding. Hinged doors require more space. They are single-leaf and double-leaf.

As for the sliding curtains, they have from two to six wings, which are held by a rubber magnetic tape. The shutters move on rollers hidden inside the shower stall frame. High-quality curtains should open and close almost silently.

Corner shower cubicle with sliding doors. In addition to models with transparent plastic (glass), there are options with frosted curtains

Shower curtains are made of polystyrene or high quality tempered glass. Polystyrene products are quite cheap and lightweight, but they quickly lose their transparency, and stains remain on them.

Glass curtains are expensive, high quality products.

Hinged doors made of tempered frosted glass. In their manufacture, specially processed safety glass is used, which surpasses even automotive glass in strength

Water and dirt are very easily washed off the glass surface - the material does not absorb anything and does not tarnish over the years. You can also buy a booth with curtains made of classic transparent, tinted, colored and rough glass.

Shower room project development

Despite the apparent technical complexity, the independent construction of a shower stall, in fact, is quite a feasible procedure for a simple layman, especially for a hard-working owner.

As the construction of any capital structure begins with the development of a project, and before starting work on equipping a shower in a private house with your own hands, you need to think over.

It is advisable to outline the basic plans and schemes on paper, for example:

  • a plan for placing a shower cabin in a designated room;
  • connection diagrams to power supply, water supply and sewerage networks;
  • the procedure for equipping a shower room with a ventilation system.

The preparation of the shower room and the installation of the cabin in it is carried out in several stages.

In modern interiors, a shower cubicle with an oversized tray is often replaced with structures with thin transparent or matte walls installed on the floor. The device of a shower cabin without a pallet may seem simple. But this is only at first glance.

In practice, installing a compact design requires basic skills and strict adherence to the installation rules, do you agree with that?

Do you want to put a shower stall on your own, but don't understand what materials and components are needed for this? Let's deal with all the nuances of this process together - our article contains detailed instructions for the construction of a shower without a tray.

Each stage of work is considered in detail, visual photos are selected that illustrate the described moments. And in addition to the article, we have added videos that clearly demonstrate the installation process of such plumbing.

Fashionable modern interiors favorably differ in ergonomics, lightness and availability free space... For this reason, the designers have developed compact and stylish shower designs without a tray.

Thin, more often transparent cabin rails are mounted on the bathroom floor, where immediately, thanks to which a practical shower box plays the role of an integral element of the interior.

A shower box without a tray is used to organize a small bathroom and a spacious room. A variety of models allows you to embody creative design ideas in interior decoration.

Since the walls of a shower enclosure are usually made of the thinnest transparent plastic, the structure looks airy and light. An important advantage of a shower box without a pallet is that it requires minimal space to install it.

A shower without a pallet will not only successfully cope with its intended purpose, but also stylishly transform the interior of the bathroom

Manufacturers often use transparent or organic as partitions of the shower stall. frosted glass... After taking a shower, no water drops remain on the glass surface.

In order to independently install the shower stall, you need to take care of the availability of certain tools and aids. These include a level, drill, tape measure, construction gun, and silicone mastic.

How to install a shower stall: stages

The first step is to install the shower tray. To do this, you must strictly follow the established sequence of actions.

Place the assembled drainage elements into the opening of the tray provided for this purpose.

Fix a gasket of waterproof material under the pallet and tighten the assembled drain system very tightly.

Install pre-prepared sewer pipes. The sewer hole must be located directly below the drain. Before starting work, it is recommended to first make all the necessary measurements. This will speed up the process and avoid mistakes.

Align the pallet so that it is horizontal. To obtain an accurate result, it is required to correctly adjust the legs placed on it. If it is necessary to form a slope to drain the water, the pan can be slightly raised.

A seam is formed between the pallet and the tiles. Silicone mastic will ensure its tightness. It should be carefully applied between surfaces using a construction gun.

Screen installation

After the shower stall, or rather its pallet, has been installed, you can proceed with the installation of the screen. It should be placed straight. Her correct installation occurs in several stages.

  • The wall profile must be placed on the edge of the pallet. In the process, you should use a level. On the tile, you will need to make several marks at the drilling sites.

  • Using a drill, carefully make holes and place dowels in them. It is worth avoiding the use of the shock function of the device, as this can cause significant damage to the ceramic coating.
  • Screw the profile to the wall after the hole depth fully corresponds to the length of the dowels used.
  • Place the fixed part of the screen in profile. Suspend the shower doors, adjust their position and fasten securely.

  • Using silicone sealant, create seams that connect the various parts of the structure.

The seal placed on the doors must fit snugly against the pallet. This will ensure proper tightness during the process. further use shower cabin.

Installation of shower cabins (video):

From the author: hello dear readers! IN last years we began to pay more and more attention to the comfort of our home. Modern manufacturers have also caught this wave, so the market has been flooded with various gadgets that are designed to make our life the most convenient and comfortable. Especially global changes have affected the bathrooms. Toilets with lights and radios, Jacuzzis and the like - could we have thought of something like this fifteen years ago?

Of course, a jacuzzi can still not be found in every home. But shower cabins are becoming more and more popular. They are convenient and do not take up much space (although the latter factor depends on the specific model). In addition, closed models have many interesting features. In them, you can take a rain shower or enjoy aromatherapy, get a hydromassage treatment and benefit the body in other ways.

However, just this type of booth is usually distinguished by its impressive dimensions. Therefore, in small x, open models are more relevant. They take up very little space, and installing the shower enclosure yourself is quite simple. In today's article, we will analyze just this procedure.

What is the difference between a shower corner and cubicles

The modern market offers many types of shower stalls, which, in general, are divided into two types: open and closed. The last type is named so because such a model is closed on all sides: it has walls, a floor, a ceiling. In fact, it is a small separate room for taking water procedures.

As mentioned above, such cabins can have a variety of interesting functions for massage, relaxation and the like. In general, the equipment brings a considerable amount of comfort to the life of the owners, this is especially true for those who are very fond of water procedures.

Of course, there were some drawbacks. Closed cabins the following disadvantages are inherent:

  • a complex installation procedure, especially in the case of those very additional functions. In principle, you can buy equipment already assembled and not bother with connecting each element. But it often happens that such an assembled model simply does not pass through the bathroom door. As a rule, the case still ends with a call to the master, who assembles the stall directly in the bathroom;
  • cost. Plumbing is generally distinguished by considerable prices, and when it comes not just about water supply, but also about comfort, it can turn out to be completely costly. Moreover, the more functions, the more expensive the model, which is natural. On the other hand, they usually serve for a long time, and they bring a lot of pleasure;
  • dimensions. The large sizes mentioned in the first paragraph can be a critical factor when it comes to a typical bathroom in an ordinary apartment building... What can we say about the infamous combined bathrooms in Khrushchev, where it is generally difficult to turn around. Such a cabin simply will not fit there.

If all the listed disadvantages - especially the last one - are of great importance to you, then the shower corner will come to the rescue. It is easy to install, inexpensive and, most importantly, takes up much less space than closed models.

In fact, the main set of such equipment consists of a pallet and doors. The adjacent walls act as side walls. Thus, you get a corner in which the shower equipment is placed, a pallet is mounted, and the whole thing is closed with a door and, in part, with panels.

There is no ceiling in such a corner, so, of course, you cannot put various "bells and whistles" like a tropical shower here. But the production of work is greatly simplified. And such equipment will in any case bring convenience and comfort with it, regardless of where it is located: even in a city apartment, even in a wooden house.

To make the installation procedure easy and hassle-free, we suggest reading the instructions below for installing a conventional shower enclosure with a pallet with your own hands. Also, a video is attached to the article, by watching which, you will additionally enrich your stock of knowledge. So let's get started.

Preparing for installation

The first thing to do is to prepare the room.
  1. Remove from it anything that might hinder freedom of action. Of course, we are not talking about dismantling the toilet bowl and other fixed structures. But washing machinefor example, it is better to endure. Shower doors and panels are usually made of fiberglass. They are fragile, therefore, catching on something or dropping any element, you risk condemning yourself to re-acquiring the broken structural part.
  2. Invite a friend to help you. Despite the ease, some of the installation steps are much easier to do with two pairs of hands. It is both safer and more reliable.
  3. Decide on a specific location for installation. It is desirable that the drain hole in the pallet and in the floor are located one above the other. In this case, it will be possible to connect them directly, thereby providing the most reliable and high-quality connection. If this is not possible, then you will have to use an additional hose. In principle, this option also has the right to life. But remember that the presence of additional adapters always reduces the reliability of the connection.
  4. Level the floor where you will be installing. It is necessary that the pallet fits perfectly, so use a building level when working. The best option in such cases, self-leveling floors are used, with which you can level a certain area. However, if the unevenness is not too strong, and the floor is already covered with tiles, then there is no point in dismantling the tiles. You can compensate for differences in height by adjusting the legs of the pallet.

Installation procedure

The process of installing a shower enclosure always starts with installing a shower tray. To do this, you need a wrench and a silicone-based waterproof sealant. And also, of course, the structural elements themselves: a pallet, a siphon included in the package and a drain hose.

In some models, there is no siphon as such. In such cases, the hose itself takes over its function. As a rule, the kit then includes special devices that, when installed on the hose, give it a curved shape. The siphon bend is necessary to prevent penetration unpleasant odors from the sewer pipe to the room. Therefore, do not ignore these adaptations.

So, let's get started.

  1. Turn the pan upside down and find a drain hole on it. Connect a siphon here.
  2. Then fix the drain hose in the siphon. If you connected it directly to the drain hole in the pan, then install a bending device.
  3. Attach an elbow to the opposite end of the hose - this part is also usually included in the package.
  4. Install the elbow into the floor drain. You need to insert in such a way that it goes completely there.
  5. Now take a waterproof silicone sealant and sequentially treat all the places where the joint took place: the pallet and the siphon, the siphon and the hose, the hose and the pipe, the pipe and the sewer hole. Allow the sealant to dry after processing. This usually takes about two hours. Try not to touch the structural elements until the sealant has completely solidified, so as not to compromise the strength of the layer.
  6. After the silicone sealant has completely cured, turn the pallet upside down, put it in the right place and adjust the legs for height. This is done with wrench... Turning the leg clockwise will make it shorter, counterclockwise - longer. Do not forget to regularly check evenness with a building level during the process.
  7. We finished with the connection, now we attach the pallet to the wall with fasteners and process the joints with silicone sealant. We wait two hours again.
After the sealant has dried, you can proceed with the installation of the door and side panels. Unpack all structural elements. Try to be careful - we remind you that fiberglass can suddenly surprise you with its fragility.

Set the glass parts aside for now, let's start with the frame first. Assemble it from metal frames. After assembly, check that all ends are even and vertically aligned. Only then fix it with screws. Try not to tighten them too tightly, otherwise the frame may be skewed.

Now we put up the collected metal structure onto the pallet and check how smoothly everything is installed and converges. It is better to do this together, since the frame must be held on both sides.

The side frames have special holes for fasteners. It is necessary to mark these places on the wall. Then remove the frame and set it aside for now.

Drill the wall at the marked locations. If it is covered with tiles, then do it very carefully to avoid cracking the tiles. You will need two diamond drills specifically designed for this finish.

First, make notches on the glaze of the tile, then drill the entire thickness of the tile with a very thin drill, and then take a nozzle of the required diameter (corresponding to the dowels) and bring the holes to the desired depth and width. Fasten the dowels in them.

Place the frame back on the pallet and fix it to the wall with screws. Before doing this, coat the side frames with a waterproof silicone sealant on the side that will be adjacent to the wall surface. After tightening the screws, remove the excess sealant with a damp cloth, without waiting for it to dry.

Install the supplied gaskets and rollers to the frame. Next, fit the side panels and then the door. Be sure to check the latter: open and close several times, while paying attention to the ease of sliding.

Finally, secure doorknob and treat all joints on the structure with sealant. Don't forget to remove any excess before drying. After it hardens, the shower enclosure will be completely ready for use.

That's all, dear friends. As you can see, the installation procedure does not cause any difficulties. In addition, some people prefer not to bother at all, but only install a tray around which they hang a regular shower curtain.

Of course, this option looks less modern and stylish, but it also has a right to life. But in this case, you will have to first take care of a high-quality floor, since the curtain protects it from water much worse than a fiberglass construction. The choice is yours. Good luck!
