No matter how beautiful the ceiling in your apartment looks, a properly installed chandelier gives it a finished look. When buying a new lamp, many people think about how to hang it on a concrete ceiling. Floors from durable concrete make it difficult to install hooks, and for this reason people turn to the master for help without trying to do the job themselves. Yes, and the design of lighting devices today have become more complicated. In fact, there is nothing difficult in attaching a chandelier to a concrete ceiling. It is important to follow the sequence of simple steps and do not forget about safety. You can verify this by reading our article.

FIRST, LET'S DEAL WITH THE WIRES

In old-built houses, the wiring is old, without modern color marking. IN modern requirements PUE (Electrical Installation Rules) individual cable cores have different colors, by which you can immediately determine their purpose. Regular wires in modern chandeliers also have color marking. In the factory version, they are assembled on a block, and their connection is written in the accompanying passport.

The phase wire is usually marked black, white or brown- here manufacturers do not have a single standard. Neutral (zero) is blue or Blue colour. It is customary to allocate a grounding core everywhere yellow braids with a green stripe.

Before starting work on installing a chandelier, you need to figure out the purpose of all the wires in the ceiling wiring and inside the lamp. If all this is new, then the connection will occur without problems - we simply connect wires with the same marking on the block.

IF THERE IS NO MARKING

If you can’t figure out the purpose of the wires by color, we will do it with the help of devices. This is easy to do, the main thing is to comply with electrical safety standards. To do this, we need a phase indicator - a device that shows the presence of phase voltage at the ends of the wire. In a simplified version, it looks like an ordinary screwdriver, but consists of a plastic case, a conductive rod and a signal LED. At the end of the probe (as the device is popularly called) there is a metal terminal. It is easy to determine the presence of voltage: we take the probe with the thumb and middle fingers of the hand, like a fountain pen, and press the end terminal with the index finger. We touch the bare wires with a metal sting - the indicator on the phase wire will light up. It is recommended to carry out such a check with one hand, without touching the wires with the other, otherwise you may accidentally get "the most vivid impressions of your life."

WE CONTINUE TO WORK AS A PROBE

To carry out work, you need to completely de-energize the room. Carefully remove the old lamp and alternately check the absence of voltage on all wires. We spread all the wires of the wiring to the sides so that they do not touch. We turn on the power supply and the chandelier switch again. We determine the phase wire with the indicator and mark the neutral conductor in a way that is understandable to us. It may happen that in the ceiling you will find three outgoing wires. This means that the chandelier was connected in a two-stage scheme. In this case, you need to turn on both keys and find one neutral and two phase wires, accurately marking them. By disabling one key, make sure that the phase has disappeared on one wire. Then turn off the second key and make sure that there is no voltage on the second wire either. In this case, you can connect the chandelier according to the existing two-stage wiring diagram.

MAKE A CHANNEL CALL

The continuity of the chandelier wires is done in doubtful cases, and for this it is better to use a conventional multimeter. With a metal case of a chandelier, one of the three wires can be grounding. To find it, we put one of the probes on the metal of the case, and with the second we touch the bare part of the wires. The sound of the multimeter will show the ground wire. The neutral wire (neutral) is easy to determine by the control sound, if one probe is pressed against the side contact of any chandelier cartridge, and with the other we alternately touch unidentified wires. Thus, the remaining wires will be phase.

If you have a multi-track chandelier with a two-stage connection scheme, then one or more cartridges can be connected to each phase wire. To accurately determine their relationship with the switch key, we connect the multimeter probe to one of the phase wires and successively touch the central contacts inside the cartridges. By the sound signal, we determine the actual connection.

If the purchased lamp has several switching stages, and you have only one phase wire in your wiring, then you will have to connect all the cartridges to it. To do this, we will connect all the phase wires of the chandelier together on one block.

EXPERT ADVICE

Often found in old houses aluminum wires. But wires made of copper and aluminum must not be connected to each other by twisting. They quickly form a corrosion layer, and the contact density is broken. This will lead to heating and melting of the insulation - to a short circuit. Connect copper and aluminum wires only using a special WAGO terminal with insulating paste.

WE WILL PREPARE EVERYTHING NECESSARY FOR INSTALLATION

Prepare in advance a stable stepladder, an indicator and a multimeter. All electrical tools: screwdrivers, pliers, a knife and a hammer must be with insulated handles. To drill holes in the concrete ceiling, you will need a hammer drill or impact drill. From fasteners, an expansion anchor, self-tapping screws and dowels are used. To connect the contacts, we will use screw or spring express terminals, electrical tape or PPE-type caps.

WE FASTEN THE CHANDELIER ON THE HOOK

Weighty chandeliers on a long rod have a special loop for hanging on a hook, which, after installation, is closed with a decorative cap. If there is no hook on your ceiling, then you will have to install it yourself. To do this, it is better to use an expansion anchor that can withstand heavy loads. The anchor is driven into the drilled hole until it stops, and then the hook is already twisted.

When installing a chandelier, it is better to remove all light bulbs and fragile parts from it. Hanging the case on a fixed hook, we connect the wires to the block. All wires must be carefully laid inside the decorative bowl and fixed with a minimum gap near the ceiling. The bowl is usually fixed to the stem with a gasket or a small screw. After that, we screw in the light bulbs, put on the shades, turn on the mains voltage and use the switch to check the chandelier's performance.

INSTALLING THE CHANDELIER ON THE MOUNTING PLATE

Most fixtures adjacent to the ceiling are mounted on a mounting plate or decorative bracket. The installation of such a chandelier consists of two stages: installation of a plank on the ceiling and subsequent attachment of the chandelier itself to it. If there is an old hook in this place, then it must be unscrewed or cut off. We pre-apply the bar to the ceiling to indicate the coordinates of the fastening. We drill the ceiling under the dowels to the required depth. It is necessary to pay attention to the tightness of the installation of the dowels in the holes and, if necessary, seal them with a cement-adhesive mixture. Having installed the bar with self-tapping screws, then we fasten the lamp to the bar with the help of standard screws. We check the operation of the chandelier with a switch and admire the result of our work. Yet it is not the gods that burn the pots! And in this work there is nothing difficult for your skillful hands.

As a rule, repair in the room ends with the installation of lighting devices on the ceiling. Despite the fact that currently tension systems and drywall have gained wide popularity suspended structures, the traditional way of finishing - puttying the ceiling base with its subsequent painting, still does not go out of fashion. Therefore, the question of how to hang a chandelier on a concrete ceiling is relevant for those who decide to carry out installation work on installing appliances on their own.

Ceiling chandelier mounting options

There are several ways to attach chandeliers to a concrete ceiling. If the installation of the chandelier on the ceiling is done by hand, you can choose one of the following options:

  • special hook. On one side, it starts in concrete base, and the other - in the suspension, located on the lighting device;
  • mounting plate, which is a curved strip of metal. It has two holes for attaching the product to the ceiling. At the same time, they are equipped with screws fixing the decorative cover;
  • cruciform mounting plate. Used to hang a heavy chandelier.

Usually it is not necessary to decide in what way to fix the chandelier, since the technical data sheet for the device mentions suitable option. The most important thing that will be required of you is to ensure high-quality and reliable fixation of the product.

On a note! Most modern chandeliers are mounted on mounting strips. For greater reliability, a couple of holes are made in the ceiling, where plastic chopsticks are hammered. Self-tapping screws are screwed into them.

Often with self installation lighting device, the question arises of how not to get confused in the wiring and connect the device correctly. Therefore, before mounting a chandelier to ceilings made of concrete or a surface finished in another way, it is necessary to check the phasing of the wires for it.

The neutral wire is always common, and the phase wires are connected to the lamps using switches.

Both zero and phase are checked with a phase indicator. Appearance The tool looks like a screwdriver. While working with the indicator, it must be clamped with the middle and index fingers of the right hand in a specially designated place. A safety cuff will protect the hand indicator from the sting.

During the phasing check, the thumb is placed on a special metal terminal located on the end of the indicator handle, or on a special button if you have an electronic device, and the wire that is the object of the test is touched with a sting. If the wire under test turned out to be phase, the lamp will light up, or the display will be highlighted with a special symbol.

Important! It is forbidden to touch the wires with your hands during operation.

Before proceeding with the test, it is necessary to de-energize the electricity and unscrew the plugs. After that, strip the ends of the wires coming out of the ceiling from the protective coating, spread them apart, screw in the plugs, turn on the switch. In order to maintain safety during work, a rubber mat is placed under the stool from which the test will be performed. Then, using the indicator, one or two phase wires are found, depending on the type of switch. After that, the switch is turned off, the indicator is checked again, which should no longer glow.

If the device catches fire, then the switch is switched to a phase break, and the neutral wire for the unipolar switch is started up directly.

In principle, the work is not difficult, but if you have no experience with wiring and electricity, it is better to invite a professional to help.

We carry out dialing

Often there are situations when the lights go out in the room, while the bulbs in the lamp are in working condition. In this case, you have to resort to the “dialing” process, namely, to check the integrity of the electric current conductors and the correctness of their connection.

Another situation is when you need to hang a chandelier, and the wires that go to the terminal are made in the same color or do not meet marking standards.

A special tool with which wires are made is called a multimeter.

Before the dialing begins, you need to unscrew all the bulbs from the chandelier cartridges and the cartridges themselves. There are two contacts inside the light source:

  • zero - on the side;
  • phase - in the center.

The first probe coming from the multimer is installed on the side contact, the second touches the wires that come out of the lighting device. After the multimer emits a characteristic signal, the wire, the result of contact with which the sound became, is marked with a marker. It will be null.

The next step is the phase. The procedure will be the same as when searching for a neutral wire. The only difference is that the first probe must be installed on the central contact. The phase is also marked with a marker.

To find a ground wire for a chandelier, the body of which consists of metal, one multimer probe is placed on the part of the body that conducts current, and the second one touches the bare ends of the wires or contacts on the connecting block in turn. The wire, upon contact with which, the multimer will make a characteristic sound, will be grounding.

If a chandelier or lamp is equipped with several stages of lighting, and the wiring has only one phase wire, then all wires are connected to it using twisting.

As you can see, there is nothing complicated here, however, this stage is very important. Ignoring this procedure and incorrectly connecting devices can lead to wiring overload.

How to hang a chandelier on the ceiling: step by step instructions

There are two types of hooks designed for mounting a chandelier: with a regular thread and an anchor bolt. Anchor fastening is used for large-sized devices, the weight of which exceeds 5 kg.

For threaded fasteners, the procedure will be as follows:

  • on the ceiling at the place of installation of the chandelier, drill a hole, insert a dowel into it;
  • screw the hook into the dowel.

For anchoring in the ceiling, you will also need to drill a hole desired diameter where to insert the anchor and tighten it until it stops. Now it remains to hang the ceiling chandelier. Hang it like this:

  • insert a hook into the loop of the device;
  • Press the decorative base as tightly as possible against the ceiling so that it completely covers the wires.

The main advantage of this method lies in its high reliability. All old chandeliers were fixed on the ceiling with a hook, since it was he who could withstand massive appliances.

Attaching the device to a mounting plate

You can attach the chandelier to the ceiling without a hook using a mounting plate. The work is carried out in several stages:

  • if a hook was previously installed at the installation site of the device, it is cut down or dismantled, and the hole is sealed with putty;
  • Next is the marking of the base. To do this, the mounting plate must be attached to the ceiling, mark through the holes in it;
  • you will have to drill concrete with a hammer drill or drill. If a drill is used, a concrete drill will be needed;
  • dowels are driven into the holes, after which a mounting element is applied, which is fixed with self-tapping screws

Now it remains to fix the chandelier on the ceiling. Attach the decorative base of the device to the bracket and tighten the screws so that the lamp socket is fixed as tightly as possible.

Thus, installing a chandelier on a concrete ceiling is an easy process, but sometimes requires special tools needed for the job and outside help. Most importantly, observe safety precautions and ensure reliable fastening.

During the construction of apartments, a concrete slab is used as a ceiling. It has increased strength and hardness. Because of this, various problems often arise, such as installing a chandelier. In this case, inexperienced owners prefer to turn to the master and not try to do the work on their own. If you immediately hang the chandelier correctly on the concrete ceiling, you can avoid additional financial costs.

Preparation for work

Before you hang a chandelier on the ceiling, you must correctly carry out all preparations. In addition, it is very important to observe safety precautions at all stages of work. This will not only save lighting fixture from breakage, but also help to maintain health.

Choice of tools and materials. To qualitatively hang the lamp on the ceiling, you need to prepare everything in advance necessary materials and tools. If everything is done correctly, then you can significantly simplify the process and complete the work in the shortest possible time.

Among the many tools, only a few of them will be needed for work.:

  • ladder;
  • puncher or electric drill;
  • a screwdriver or an ordinary screwdriver;
  • pliers;
  • indicator screwdriver.

In the course of work, some unforeseen situations may arise. To fix them, you may need some other tool that is not on the list. However, with the correct implementation of all stages of installation, the likelihood of their occurrence will be minimal.

From the materials you may need the following:

  • self-tapping screws with dowels;
  • fasteners;
  • terminals or connecting blocks;
  • insulating tape.

All items used in the work are inexpensive and readily available. All this allows for self-assembly chandeliers even to owners with little financial capacity.

In order to qualitatively hang a chandelier from the ceiling, it is necessary not only to choose materials, but also to be able to use them correctly. You can seek advice from professional craftsmen. They will gladly share their secrets and help you avoid most mistakes.

Some of the tips worth mentioning are::

  1. Before starting work, you need to properly prepare the chandelier itself. To do this, unscrew the light bulbs from it and remove all decorative elements. This will eliminate the possibility of breakage of any parts and protect the lighting device from losing its attractive appearance.
  2. After installation, be sure to check the wiring. To do this, it is important to turn on the light not only on switchboard but also in the apartment.
  3. Before installing the hook in a concrete ceiling, you must first calculate the desired length. This is done so that the cap of the chandelier completely covers the mount. If you make a mistake or do not perform the calculations at all, then you may encounter a situation where you need to file an already hanging hook. This is a rather complicated operation, and it is almost impossible to perform it without proper preparation.
  4. When installing heavy lighting fixtures, it is best to use anchoring. It will allow you to more securely fix the chandelier and eliminate the possibility of its falling.
  5. During the installation of the anchor hook, it is necessary to correctly select not only its diameter, but also the size of the drilled hole. If everything is done correctly, then you can achieve maximum fastening strength.
  6. When performing any work with electricity, it is best to use not an ordinary screwdriver, but an indicator one. With its help, you can not only tighten the mount, but also protect yourself from impact electric shock.
  7. Very often there are situations when the installed chandelier does not react in any way to the movements of the switch. As a rule, this situation occurs when the phase and ground are connected incorrectly. To correct this error, just swap the wires.

Safety

Carrying out any work with the installation of lighting fixtures must be carried out with special care and attention. The slightest mistake or defect can lead to electric shock, which will lead to serious health problems. Therefore, it is very important to carry out the installation of the chandelier in compliance with safety regulations.

Basic ways to protect yourself from electric shock:

Chandelier installation

Installing any lighting device is a fairly simple event, but it requires some knowledge and skills from the master. All of them come down to understanding the process and the ability to use certain tools.

Before starting installation, you need to clearly determine the type of fasteners. There are only two options among them.:

  1. Hook. It is used for heavy and overall lighting fixtures, as well as for old chandeliers.
  2. Bracket or mounting plate. Modern version fastening, which is used for mounting small and light chandeliers.

Mounting plate

This method allows you to attach the chandelier to the ceiling without a hook. It is more convenient, simple and affordable even for a novice master. As a rule, all accessories necessary for installation are included with the chandelier. This greatly simplifies the task and eliminates the need to search for suitable parts.

The installation process is simple and consists of the following steps:

  1. Selected optimal location to install and prepare. Since the bracket should be at a minimum distance from the ceiling, you need to find a level place. If it is not there, then you can level the ceiling with ordinary putty.
  2. Then the wiring is checked for operability. It is important to make such a check at this stage of the work, since after installing the bar it will be much more difficult to do.
  3. After that, the selected place is marked. A bracket is attached to the ceiling, circled around the perimeter, and places for drilling are outlined.
  4. Using a perforator, a hole of the required diameter is made in the concrete ceiling. This work can be done with an ordinary electric drill, but using special drill for concrete.
  5. Dowels are driven into the prepared holes.
  6. The bracket is attached to the ceiling and screwed with self-tapping screws or screws included in the chandelier package.
  7. At the next stage of work, wiring is laid. For this, electricity is turned off in the apartment.
  8. Then carried out visual inspection. In most modern houses, three wires are output (zero, phase and ground). In buildings of the old type, you can find only two of them (without grounding).
  9. After that, an indicator screwdriver is taken, and with its help the type of each wire is determined. To do this, the electricity supply is resumed in the apartment, and the master touches each of the wires with a special screwdriver. This way you can identify the phase.
  10. Identical wires are fastened together with terminals. If they are not included in the accessory kit, then you can carefully twist the two wires and wrap them with ordinary electrical tape. This operation can be done only when the light is off.
  11. On final stage installation, the chandelier is attached to the bar. To do this, take the remaining accessories (screws and nuts) and attach the lighting fixture to the bracket.
  12. The installed luminaire is complemented by previously removed decorative elements and light bulbs.

With a hook

Mounting a chandelier on hooks is a more difficult undertaking than on a mounting plate. In this case, it will take more time and effort to work. You can install the device both on hooks with an anchor bolt, and on fasteners with an ordinary thread. The first option is used for massive and heavy chandeliers weighing more than 5 kilograms, and the second - for small (weighing up to 5 kg) lamps.

Installation is carried out in compliance with the following sequence of actions:

  1. A suitable place for the chandelier is chosen on the ceiling.
  2. By using simple pencil or a marker, a mark is made in the place where the hook will be located.
  3. Then a hole of the desired diameter is drilled in the concrete ceiling. For this, a puncher or a drill with a special drill is used.
  4. A dowel is driven into the hole made (when fastening with a conventional thread) or an anchor is screwed in.
  5. After that, the hook is screwed in.
  6. The next step is to connect the wiring. This is done in the same way as in the case of the mounting plate.
  7. At the end, the installation of the chandelier itself is carried out. To do this, it is hung on a hook for a special loop.
  8. The place of connection of the wiring is neatly covered with a decorative detail.
  9. It must fit snugly against the ceiling and leave no gaps.

Removal from concrete ceiling

Sometimes during the operation of the device, it may be necessary to remove it from the concrete ceiling. This can happen when you need to replace the wiring, clean the chandelier or replace it with a new one. In all these cases, dismantling is carried out in the reverse order compared to installation.

In this case, you need to perform such actions:

  1. The electricity in the apartment or house is turned off.
  2. Bulbs are removed from the chandelier, as well as all fragile decorative elements.
  3. The luminaire is then removed from the hook or detached from the mounting plate.
  4. After this, the junctions of the wires are released from the terminals or insulation.
  5. Each of them is separated and carefully wrapped with electrical tape.
  6. At the last stage, dismantling fixing structures(bracket, hook).

When performing these works, it is very important not to neglect safety precautions. This will help to avoid serious consequences from electric shock.

Installing a chandelier on a concrete ceiling is a fairly simple task that requires minimal time and financial costs. With proper execution and observance of the entire sequence of actions, you can significantly speed up the installation process and perform it better. During this work, it is important to follow all safety rules. This will eliminate the possibility of electric shock.

Mounting a chandelier to the ceiling is a responsible matter, requiring care and minimal knowledge in electrics. First, you need to completely assemble it. The design of most of these lighting fixtures is not very complicated, and there is always a manufacturer's manual. In a word, this task can be handled easily, so we will go directly to the technical part of installing a chandelier on the ceiling.

Dealing with wires

Many people who are going to independently install a chandelier on the ceiling are most concerned not with the technical part of the work, but with how to connect the wires correctly. We will address this issue in this section.

Let's start with the basics. See how many wires come out of the ceiling, and also how many keys are on the switch. If there are only 2 wires, then turning on different parts of the chandelier with a two-gang switch will not work - you need a third wire. If you have 3 wires coming out, and you want the light to turn on in different parts of the lamp, then in the lighting fixture, the wires that go to the thread of the cartridge and the ground wire are twisted together, and the rest are divided into 2 groups, and are also twisted together.

On a note! Bad contact leads not only to heating of the wire, but also leads to premature failure of the lamps.

To work, you need such a tool: pliers, a regular and indicator screwdriver, a terminal block.

An indicator screwdriver is needed to determine the wire connection points. Touch the tip of the screwdriver to the threads in the cartridge, and with your free hand touch the wires coming out of this cartridge in turn. When you touch one of them, the indicator should light up. The wires of the same color will be the "ground". Twisted bundles of wires must be inserted into the terminal block, and firmly fixed in it.

Mounting methods.

There are 2 main methods:

  • on the hook.
  • on the mounting plate.

Hook

This was once the most common mounting method for a chandelier. The lighting device was simply hung on a hook sticking out of the ceiling; it was originally removed during construction. Most modern lighting fixtures are mounted in a different way, however, the hook is still quite used.

How to hang a chandelier on a concrete ceiling using a mounting bracket

Very often, modern lighting devices in the kit have a special mounting plate, so it must be properly prepared before installation. Nuts and screws on it are always fixed so that the main fasteners are inside, invisible from below. The bar is inserted from the inside into the chandelier and the nuts are tightened until it stops - the bar should be flush with the chandelier bowl, or slightly below it. But these procedures are done at the very end.

The bar must be attached to the ceiling and through the holes make marks for future fastening. Remove the plank and drill holes, insert dowels. Next, they attach a bar to the ceiling, and the chandelier itself to it.

How to hang a chandelier on a wooden ceiling? The basic principles are the same, only the bar is attached to the surface using wood screws.

Power connection

When the switch contacts on the wires are open, there should be no voltage on the wires. It's easy to check - the indicator on the screwdriver should not light when touching the wires. Check if power appears on two wires when it is turned on, use the same indicator screwdriver for this. The remaining one wire is the "ground", it must be connected to the common bundle of wires of the chandelier. If this is not the case for you, then your switch disconnects the ground, not the phase. If your chandelier is equipped with incandescent lamps, or LED lamps, then you can not change the principle of wiring, but such wiring is not suitable for housekeepers - they will blink. If you experience difficulties, consult with a familiar electrician, often in lighting stores they can give comprehensive information on connecting a particular chandelier.

Advice! If the lighting fixture is connected to a dimmer, then under no circumstances should a housekeeper be installed!

Mounting to concrete floor

In this section, we will talk about the features of fixing a chandelier on a concrete ceiling. To do this, they also take the mounting bar, apply it to the surface and mark the attachment points. It so happens that ceiling consists of hollow slabs, this can be understood by the easy movement of the drill. In this case, you need to slightly move the attachment point or turn the bar in a different way so that the holes do not fall into the hollow areas. If hollowness is everywhere, then use anchors. Can also be mounted in a ceiling plate wooden lath, and already fasten the bar to it with screws. Keep in mind that a dense concrete floor can only be drilled with a Pobedite drill. Always take a drill according to the diameter of the fixing dowel.

On a note! Take care in advance that dust does not penetrate into the punch chuck. It is easy to solve this problem - put a disposable cup on the base of the drill, and all the dust will fly into it when drilling.

After the holes are drilled, you can proceed to attach the bar. How to do this is described above. Fasten the bar securely, but do not overdo it, because it can be deformed if you press it too hard.

We fix the chandelier on the plasterboard ceiling

What difficulties arise here? The fact is that drywall material, although durable, will not hold a heavy chandelier. Therefore, you first need to decide on the type of lighting device.

There are such ways to install a chandelier:

  • The place of attachment of the chandelier, if it is quite large and heavy, is additionally reinforced metal profiles. This should be done at the stage of installing a drywall construction, and it is quite reasonable to always do this, because the chandeliers are periodically changed. Even if a fairly light lighting fixture is being installed now, it’s not a fact that in a couple of years you won’t want a spectacular large chandelier.
  • You can also install a small chandelier to the drywall itself. But first you need to buy special fasteners (spring dowels, butterflies). In this case, it is not necessary to additionally strengthen the attachment point.

Attention! During such work, it is necessary to de-energize the room. If for some reason it is impossible to turn off the power, then all work must be carried out with rubber gloves of an electrician. And it is best then to use the services of an electrician.

Gcl can withstand a load of not more than 6 kg per square meter. That is, if your chandelier weighs less than 6, and preferably 5 kg, then you can install it directly into drywall. However, keep in mind that hl is much weaker than concrete, therefore, its deformation may occur during the operation of the lighting device - replacing lamps, wiping from dust. Also, replacing the chandelier in this case is problematic - it will hold on weaker. In no case should you make new holes for fastening near the old ones.

How to Attach a Hanging Chandelier to a Plasterboard Ceiling

Consider these 2 mounting options

  • Holes are drilled in the HL and a spring dowel or butterfly is inserted. The spring dowel is tightened with a nut, and the butterfly is tightened with a self-tapping screw until it clicks. Both fasteners must have a stud or hook. Next, hang a chandelier on the hook and connect the wiring.
  • At the marked points, holes are made into which butterfly dowels are inserted, a bar is attached to them, on which the lighting device is also installed. The main difficulty of this method is that all the wiring is done first, and only then the chandelier is fixed to the ceiling.

In the second option, you can’t do without an assistant - someone should hold the chandelier while you figure out the wiring.

How to choose the right chandelier

The choice of lighting fixture must be approached very responsibly. After all, it should provide sufficient illumination, and organically fit into the interior, and not damage the expensive ceiling covering.

Pay attention to the weight of the chandelier, if you are going to attach it to a plasterboard ceiling, it should not exceed 5 kg. In the case of other cladding, the weight of the lighting fixture is not important.

At stretch ceilings you can not use chandeliers with incandescent lamps, optimal choice- LED lightening.

Regardless of the type of lighting fixture and ceiling material, it is best to opt for energy-saving lamps.

Most importantly, you should like the chandelier and effectively emphasize your interior.

In custody

  1. Installing a chandelier on the ceiling is a responsible matter, requiring care, accuracy and certain knowledge of electrics.
  2. This process can be divided into two main parts - wiring and fixing the structure to the ceiling.
  3. There are two main types of fastening: on a hook and on a special bar. In the first case, the chandelier is simply hung on a hook and the wires are connected. In the second, you need to attach a bar to the ceiling, and already a lighting fixture to it.
  4. Installing the luminaire in a concrete ceiling is quite simple - drill holes and fix the structure in one of 2 ways.
  5. Installation of lighting in drywall sheets is a more difficult task. For heavy chandeliers, you will need additional reinforcement of the attachment point with metal plates. If the chandelier is light - up to 5 kg, then you can mount it directly in the hl with the help of special fasteners.

If there is a need to hang a chandelier from the ceiling, it is not difficult. Subject to safety precautions, installation work can be performed independently.

All actions will not take much time, the main thing is to correctly perform them.

What do you need to work?

To properly hang a chandelier from the ceiling, you will need the following tools and materials:

  1. a drill with drills for working on a concrete ceiling or a puncher;
  2. hook or anchor for fastening;
  3. pliers;
  4. screwdriver;
  5. self-tapping screws, dowels;
  6. connecting terminals and blocks;
  7. indicator for checking current;
  8. ladder for access to the work surface.

When you fix the ceiling chandelier - take precautions when working with electricity.

Security measures

Before working with electrical wiring be sure to check out safe rules works:

  • before hanging the lighting fixture, turn off the power supply;
  • check if you really turned off the network (turn on and off the light in the room);
  • with an indicator tool, check again for wires, connect using terminal blocks;
  • wiring must be grounded.

By following the methods of safe work with electricity, you can hang the chandelier correctly from the ceiling without any problems.

In the kitchen

In the kitchen, side lighting is often mounted. But without a lamp located in the middle of the ceiling, the room looks unfinished. The central location of the lamp brightly and evenly illuminates the space.

Before proceeding with the installation of the device, decide which fixture the ceiling chandelier has. If this is a ceiling option, then installation work will be easy.

Most often, in the kitchen room, a plasterboard ceiling is mounted. Such coverage closes communication details and various ceiling defects. Which place to choose and hang the chandelier on plasterboard ceiling so that it fits into the overall style of the room?

Pendant lights look good above the dining area. There are lighting fixtures that you can adjust the length of the overhang over the table. With such local lighting, it is nice to get together with the whole family or sit down and talk with friends.

If you plan to hang the chandelier on a plasterboard ceiling, then the installation must be completed before the final installation of the ceiling covering. To prevent the ceiling from collapsing you can not fix the lamp to the sheets themselves. When mounting the ceiling frame, where the device is attached, it is necessary to fix it with profiles.

There are two ways to hang a chandelier on a plasterboard ceiling: using one or two profile strips, a console with a bracket attached.

Installation:

  • make a hole in the drywall sheet for a decorative lining;
  • drill holes with a drill at the base of the ceiling itself, through a hole in the sheets;
  • insert a dowel, then self-tapping screws - for both options;
  • fix the chandelier. Close fasteners.

Installation should not be difficult. If you doubt that you will be able to hang a chandelier from the ceiling, the video below has step-by-step tips.

Hook attachment

When buying a lighting fixture, immediately pay attention to its design. The easiest way is to hang the ceiling chandelier on a hook attached to the concrete ceiling. This is possible if there is a special loop at the top of the luminaire.

It is not difficult to hang the device yourself, because you do not need an assistant to hold the lamp. You just need to move the glass of the lighting fixture, and follow the steps with the wiring.

Hook mounting is only possible with a concrete ceiling. No matter how much the light fixture weighs, a strong concrete ceiling can withstand even the heaviest fixture.

Lightweight structures hold well on hooks screwed into the concrete ceiling. How to properly hang a chandelier on a concrete ceiling:

  1. a hook hole can be provided during construction. If not, then drill a hole in the concrete ceiling;
  2. insert a hook into the hole, adjust the length that will protrude from the concrete ceiling;
  3. fix the mounting hook. Check the strength of the structure;
  4. install a lamp.

Now you know how to hang a chandelier from a concrete ceiling with a hook. This option is considered the most reliable, thanks to a strong mount.

Attachment without hook

What to do if the lighting fixture is very heavy and massive? What mount is right for you? In this case, you will have to hang the chandelier from the ceiling without a hook.

You will need a special bracket for fastening. You need to do the following:

  • mark the place of attachment of the bar by attaching it to the concrete ceiling;
  • make holes in the ceiling, insert dowels;
  • fix the bar with screws;
  • de-energize the wiring, then connect the wires;
  • fasten the lamp so that the cap is in tight contact with the concrete, ceiling surface.

It happens that there is a hook in the place where the plank is mounted. Just fold it up to the concrete ceiling so it doesn't get in the way. Hanging a ceiling chandelier without a hook, knowing the steps, is also not difficult.

Cross bar mounting

Another option for mounting the lamp to a concrete ceiling. In this case, you can also hang a large chandelier on the ceiling, only you need to drill out not one, but multiple fixing holes.

A large coverage area with holes where the cross bar is attached, allows you to withstand luminaires with a lot of weight. Such a holder is considered quite reliable..

Installation work is similar when installing a simple bar. The only difference is the number of fixation holes drilled into the concrete surface.

Luminaire connection

Did you learn how to attach ceiling chandeliers how to hang the device. After fixing the lamp on the ceiling, the crucial moment comes - connecting to the electrical network.

Do not forget that hanging a chandelier from the ceiling is the first step, and the next, connecting the device, must be carried out in compliance with the precautionary measures:

  1. before work, turn off the mains voltage;
  2. connect the wires in phases by connecting three wires;
  3. brown core - phase. Send it to the transfer case;
  4. the remaining two - to the lighting device;
  5. yellow wire - grounding;
  6. blue - zero;
  7. distribute the wires to the terminals.

With a one-button switch, all the bulbs in the luminaire light up at the same time. The yellow wire is attached to the lamp, brown - to the blue ceiling phase - to zero.

With a two-button, the device is partially turned on and off. Here is the sequence: yellow is connected to a hook or plate, blue is connected to phase, brown is brought to zero.

Be sure to insulate all wires after connecting.

Before hanging up the appliance, carefully read the step-by-step instructions. There are no difficulties here. The main thing is to follow the safety rules when working with electricity.

Before mounting the device on a concrete ceiling yourself, be sure to pay attention to its weight. It depends on how to fix the chandelier to the ceiling.

When working with wiring, do not forget to check the presence of voltage in the network using an indicator screwdriver. Check whether the lamp is securely fixed, how firmly it holds in contact with the concrete surface.

Important: a crystal lamp weighs much more than massive chandeliers made of another material. Therefore, you need to know how to hang a lamp on the ceiling, paying attention to weight.
