Departure from the vertical always leads to very unpleasant mistakes and even the need to completely re-glue the roll.

• The cutting tool is always comfortable with a well-sharpened point;
• A trowel, a trowel, a convenient wide ruler - anything that will allow you to get and control the trim line.

The nuances of preliminary preparation

This stage is preceded by very important steps to prepare the rough working surface.

As for the angles, it will be very important:

• when working above and below - provide for the installation of skirting boards last, after the wallpaper, then:

• the task of fitting the joint simply disappears by itself, the edges will be covered with skirting boards, ensuring a perfect joint;
• in this situation, if we take into account the standard height of the premises of 2.5 meters, the length of the wallpaper is 10, and the height of the plinth on the wall is 5 cm, then the roll is cut into 4 pieces of 2.5 each, which will be enough for four verticals, and without any waste ; otherwise, taking into account the allowances, it will be necessary to cut more than 2.5 pieces, which means that 3 pieces will go into business and one shortened one will remain neither to the village nor to the city;

• it is very useful to use removable skirting boards - this is how the problem with joining will be solved if in the future you want to change the wallpaper;
• when working on inner corners - they must be strengthened with non-woven paper tape, which is glued directly onto the putty, and is also putty on top;
• on outer corners - it is better to carry out more capital reinforcement using metal or plastic corners, which are fixed with screws; the corners are attached to the putty, and they are also putty on top.

Helpful advice!
If your corners are not straight, we recommend using plastic corners, they are more convenient to select the required angle.
There are quite a few options for reinforcing corners, but given that further on the corners we will slightly trim the wallpaper, it is better to use solid corners, without perforation.

• if we talk about the surface as a whole, then it should be:

• thoroughly dried,
• aligned,
• primed,
• putty and
• sanded - at least with sandpaper by hand, but better with a machine.

Work progress

Let's consider all the corners in order, from simple to complex.

Angles above and below

Everything here is pretty simple, even if you can't hide the material under the skirting boards:

• cut wallpaper with an allowance above (or below) the plinth 6-8 cm;
• glue and bend the allowance along the plinth linewhat is convenient to do;
• then, using a spatula as a guiding support, cut off the allowance along the entire length with a knife;

• work must be done while the glue has not yet set, this will allow a small remainder of 1-2 mm to be gently brought with a knife behind the line of the baseboard.

Corner inside

Here, first we provide ourselves with two reliable verticals on both abutting surfaces:

• first we glue the wallpaper on one side in such a way that a section with a width of at least 2 cm goes over to the next wall;
• wait for the glue to dry completely;
• usually 2 cm of allowance will be enough to glue the adjacent pieceif you have done more and it holds well, then there is no need to cut it off, otherwise, be sure to cut it off using a sharp knife and a spatula as a guide;
• glue a piece on the next wall right next to the corner and smooth it with a special;

• there is always the temptation to avoid such a hassle, bend a piece in half across its width and try to create a "perfect" corner from one piece; but, as practice shows, the wallpaper in the future will start running and the whole corner will simply move away; however, we recommend keeping this method in mind; if you have a very high-quality wallpaper that does not "run off" over time, and even wallpaper under the glue, then this option will be just perfect.

Helpful advice!
When gluing wallpaper in any case, do not stretch it with glue - when the glue dries, the material will surely "run away", exposing wide joints.
Also, be sure to determine what kind of wallpaper you have.
There are options that generally should not be glued with an overlap, only end-to-end.
Some are glued only with a shift relative to an adjacent piece or even with a 180 degree rotation.

Outside corner

Here everything is much more complicated and responsible, that's when the question of how to glue the corners with non-woven wallpaper is really solved:

• first glue the roll on one side, providing a bend on the abutting wall of 6-8 cm;
• then, (1), "around the corner" glue the roll, not reaching an angle of 2-3 cm;

• mark the invisible vertical of the bottom roll edge;
• exactly in the middle between the edges of two rolls, (2), cut both pieces, the rest of the top is no longer needed,
• and the cut section of the lower one remains on the wall (3), ensuring a smooth joint.

The price of high-quality wallpapering of corners, neither more nor less, the quality of the entire work as a whole. Therefore, treat this task very carefully and with a cool head - accurate calculation, pruning, controlling verticals, one side with an allowance, dries up, the other, we trim.
