From scrap materials you can create very original lamp, which will not only become an excellent option for lighting an apartment, but also serve as an interior decor. With the design itself, if desired, a beginner will master it. But only when assembling such a lamp in an industrial style, it is imperative to take into account several important nuances in order for the product to be safe.

We will need:
- copper soft pipes 1.5 meters;
- four tees (0.5 inches);
- three tubes (0.5x3 inches);
- one tube each with the following values: 0.5x4, 0.5x24 and 0.5x18 inches;
- plugs, half-flange (to fix the luminaire to the ceiling);
- screws, wires, brass adapters;
- LED bulbs and current source;
- hacksaw for metal, keys, screwdriver;
- drills, electrical tape, paint, powder, brush, rag, crimping pliers.

The tubes are soft and can lose their shape when bent. Not only is it not beautiful, but you also cannot pass wires through such a tube. So proceed carefully. The author will resort to a simple trick: he filled the tube with solid material from the inside (for example, tightly packed sand is very suitable for this purpose, or ice). A smaller tube will also work. In general, what will you have at hand at that time.

Step 2

Attach compression fittings to the ends of the bent tubing. Screw the nut onto the union, press it along the length of the tube as far as possible. When the fitting stops, immediately turn it half a turn using wrench... Then proceed to the next step.

Step 3

Pass the wires with holders for the LED lamp through the copper tubes. Wrap the cartridge itself with electrical tape.

Step 4
Clean all lamp materials. After all, steel pipes are sold with a layer of oil coating - it protects them from corrosion during storage. Powder and a brush will help clean the pipes. Just do it in work clothes that you do not mind. Remove the oil coating completely, then the pipes must dry completely. By the way, you can paint them with paint of any color (the author took it in black).

Step 5

Now it's time to assemble the components of the lamp. You can see the assembly sequence in the photo. When assembling this structure, make sure the wires are securely fastened. Be sure to run the wires through the mounting flange.

Step 6

Connect a power source to the lamp. Check if the wires get hot when connecting the power source - this is very important! If they begin to emit heat anywhere, then the device is dangerous to use.

An original lamp made from scrap materials can be an excellent lighting option not only for living quarters, but also for offices, and even for an exhibition. A beginner can master the design itself, and in order for the lamp to come out safe, it will be necessary to learn and take into account several important points during assembly.

Materials

To make an industrial-style lamp with your own hands, you will need to prepare:

  • soft copper pipes 1.5 m;
  • 4 tees, 0.5 inches;
  • 3 tubes 0.5 x 3 inches;
  • 1 tube 0.5 x 4 inches;
  • 1 tube 0.5 x 18 inches;
  • 1 tube 0.5 x 24 inches;
  • half-flange (for attaching the lamp to the ceiling);
  • stubs;
  • brass adapters;
  • wires;
  • screws;
  • current source;
  • LED bulbs;
  • keys;
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • screwdriver;
  • drill;
  • electrical tape;
  • crimping pliers;
  • paint;
  • powder;
  • brush;
  • a rag.

Step 1... The first step is to work with copper pipes. To do this, cut off pieces of 30 cm length from the common skein with a hacksaw.There will be three of these required. They will need to be bent in an arc.

The last manipulation is extremely difficult, since the tubes are soft and can deform when bent. Besides purely aesthetically nice looking, you can get another problem: it will not be possible to pass the wire for the lamp into the tube. To bend the tube and at the same time keep it round, you will have to resort to one simple trick. The inside of the tube must be filled with solid material. It can be tightly packed sand, another smaller tube, or, as in this case, ice.

Step 2... Attach compression fittings to the ends of the bent copper tubing. To do this, screw the nut onto the fitting and press it as far as possible along the length of the tube. Once the fitting rests, turn it halfway using a wrench.

Step 3... Thread the LED socket wires through the copper tubes. Wrap the cartridge itself with electrical tape.

Step 4... All materials for the steel pipe light will need to be cleaned. Traditionally, they are sold with a light coat of oil that protects them from moisture and corrosion during storage. To do this, take a brush, powder and put on clothes that you will not mind ruining. After removing all of the oil coating, let the pipes dry. You can paint them with black spray paint.

Step 5... All the components of the lamp are ready. Now you can collect them. For convenience, the assembly sequence is shown in the photo. When assembling the structure, be sure to make sure that the wires are securely fastened. All wires will need to be routed through the mounting flange.

Step 6... At this point, connect the power supply to the lamp without hanging it from the ceiling or wall yet. Note if the wires get hot when connecting the power supply. This is a very important point. If in any of the areas they begin to exude heat, such a device becomes dangerous from the point of view of fire safety.

Industrial style (industrial styles) in interior design appeared quite recently, in the mid-90s of the last century. It is believed that it appeared in New York, where, due to the high cost of office space, they began to equip warehouse and industrial premises for business centers, and later for hotels, restaurants and bars. The style came to the taste of many, so much so that it gained popularity for the planning of residential buildings and apartments. Designers distinguish between natural and artificial industrial style. The first, as a rule, is found in premises previously used as industrial, therefore, some interior details are preserved in their original form, and the rest of the elements are adjusted to this basis. In the second case, all the characteristic attributes of the style are created intentionally.

But no matter natural or artificially the interior in the "industrial" style was created. The issue of lighting of the premises is a matter of paramount importance.

"Industrial Styles" in the kitchen

For starters, it should be noted that the industrial style is most natural for electric lighting. The lighting fixtures used in the design of an industrial-style room are characterized primarily by stability, functionality and durability. In addition to lighting, lamps in the "industrial" style should create a certain atmosphere inherent only in production workshops or warehouses. Moreover, these strokes should be quite subtle and precise. For this purpose, they can be used as authentic industrial lighting, and stylized as industrial modern counterparts.

What industrial lamps look like

In fact, the requirements are unchanged and exactly the same as for all other lamps. However, the style requires high strength, flexibility and portability from the luminaires. Most often, lamps are made of metal and glass, quite often wood is used as a material. One of distinctive features industrial style powerful shades, which, by definition, must be durable. For this purpose, plafonds are made thick-walled with inclusions of varnished metal or metal parts covered with patina. As for the tripod, almost any design or suitable mechanism can be used here, and the limitation here is only the designer's imagination.

In industrial style it is very important to "feel" the metal

Types of industrial lamps

Pendant lamps are often used for lighting in factories. They are considered classic in rooms with an industrial design style. Since these devices coped perfectly with their main task of lighting, they most often did not replace them. Such lamps are especially effective when decorating bars and restaurants. In living quarters, this is most likely a kitchen. It is customary to use mainly wall or floor lamps in apartments. Most often, these lamps have several sections, which are also capable of changing their position and illuminating various areas, often performing the function of not only the main lighting, but also the backlight.

Chandeliers, which emerged as much needed during the Industrial Revolution in factories around the world, soon became original design elements that bring textural and visual contrast to modern interiors... Unlike most traditional industrial elements, they fit easily into most modern styles and so. Here is an overview of 40 interiors that showcase the beauty and variety of industrial-style chandeliers.

Each era has spawned certain styles that have been changed and updated over time by creative designers seeking to create original and interesting interiors. One of these styles, which now occupies one of the leading positions in popularity, can be called industrial. It is characterized by simplicity, practicality and efficiency. And brightly it is demonstrated by lamps in industrial style.

1. Incandescent lamps

The simplest model that freely fits into the minimalism dictated by the industrial style is an open incandescent lamp. Simply hanging from the ceiling, these luminaires quickly became popular in restaurants, cafes and dining rooms, combining their luxurious ambience with modern simplicity.

Such lamps look very good in the interiors of houses decorated in a minimalist and industrial style, since, on the one hand, they are striking in their simplicity, and on the other, they attract attention. You can combine a simple light bulb with a metal holder desired colorand you end up with a stunning light fixture that fits in with any theme and style. These chandeliers look good in small spaces - bedrooms, bathrooms, dining rooms.

One of the disadvantages of such lamps is the fact that they bring back to life obsolete incandescent lamps, which are considered environmentally friendly and wasteful. A reasonable compromise would be to replace them with modern LED options, which create no worse visual effect, and consume 80% less energy.

2. Variety of styles

Practicality is the main principle that separates industrial style from others and defines its basic elements. Instead of looking for new industrial-style lighting fixtures that you like, you can safely go to the attic, flea market or trash can and find a unique piece that no one else will have. True, you have to tinker a little with it, although turning old things into a beautiful lamp is much easier than it might seem at first glance.

Literally anything will do - old radiators, pulleys, metal baskets, vintage factory or theater chandeliers. Everything can be turned into stylish lamps for the kitchen or living room. Made by with my own hands the models will turn into stunning compositional centers that attract everyone's attention.

The kitchen is probably the first place that comes to mind when you mention industrial-style lighting fixtures. It will be incredibly difficult to settle on a particular model. Industrial-style chandeliers can look different - from small minimalist models with a simple metal holder to giant lampshades that hide everything underneath.

The choice of a lamp for the kitchen depends not only on aesthetic tastes. It should combine beauty and functionality. The best solution would be to combine a chandelier with directional and natural lighting.

Industrial style luminaires are ideal for modern kitchenas it offers a wonderful backdrop for metallic elements where they can fully reveal their charm. A couple of large chandeliers above kitchen island will make a huge visual impact, while the quality of lighting will only benefit. Even when turned off, they will attract attention.
