Soft roof Shinglas from the well-known manufacturer TECHNONICOL is one of the modern bituminous materials with high performance characteristics. Its advantages include durability and attractive appearance, heat and sound insulation properties, tightness of the mounted coating and its resistance to external influences. Installation of a Shinglas soft roof can be done on your own - this is facilitated by the low weight of the material and the absence of the need for a specialized tool.

Shinglas flexible tile

Material structure and properties

SHINGLAS roofing material is produced in the form of shingles with a curly edge - "petals", which form the characteristic texture of the flooring, imitating a tiled roof and giving the building an original appearance.

The basis of the Shinglas material is a tear-resistant canvas made of fiberglass, resistant to temperature extremes, moisture and biological destruction. On both sides, a layer of modified bitumen is applied to the reinforcing base, which can not lose elasticity at low temperatures. This ensures the resistance of Shinglas roofing to cracking in frost and with a sharp change in temperature.

Structure shingles Shinglas

The outer covering is made of colored basalt chips with a binder, which protects bitumen from external influences and gives an aesthetic appearance to the flooring. The pigments used in the manufacture of Shinglas shingles are quite resistant to ultraviolet rays.

A special adhesive is applied to the lower part of the shingle, making it easy to mount the sheet material on the prepared base. A special film protects the adhesive layer from contact with other shingles during storage and transportation; during the installation of the covering, the film is removed. The adhesive layer allows you to attach the shingles and seals the coating, retains its elasticity in frost, its properties do not change over the years.

Calculation principles

On preparatory stage you should calculate the required amount of material for arranging the roof. The total coverage area is easiest to calculate by summing up the area of simple shapes into which any roof can be broken, regardless of the complexity of its shape.

The area of each of the shapes (rectangles, isosceles trapezoids, triangles) is calculated using standard geometric formulas. The material will be required not only for the external flooring, but also for arranging various abutments and installing the backing layer. It is necessary to calculate the length of cornices, ridge, valleys, abutments to dormers, pipes and other structures, ends.

The materials also required for the installation of Shinglas shingles include:

  • polymer-bitumen mastic, intended for gluing materials based on bitumen to surfaces of various types;
  • shingle roofing nails (galvanized);
  • metal elements of the roof - cornice, wind, adjoining strips, provided with an anti-corrosion coating;
  • self-adhesive lining materials - with a polyester base and outer protective and decorative dressing, baseless with an outer reinforcing protective film;
  • lining carpets (designed for mechanical fixation) - with a polyester base and a non-slip polypropylene coating, with the effect of self-tightening of the fastening holes, as well as a carpet with double-sided mineral dusting;
  • valley carpet - polyester base, bitumen layer provided with basalt dressing, designed for waterproofing complex roof units;
  • ventilation elements.

Laying scheme for soft tiles

Tile consumption depends on the type of petal cutting. The packaging indicates the useful area of the material (including overlaps). Waste shingles can range from 5 to 15%, depending on the shingle configuration.

For 1 m 2 of Shinglas roof, about 80 g of roofing nails are consumed. The installation of the valley carpet requires the use of mastic in a ratio of 400 g per 1 running meter. For the end parts, you need 100 g per 1 running meter, to seal the abutments it takes 750 g of mastic per 1 running meter.

Important! So that the carpet does not swell, unattractive smudges do not form, solvents must not be added to the mastic, the material should be applied in a layer no more than 1 mm thick.

Foundation preparation

The Shinglas material laying technology provides for the arrangement of a continuous crate. To do this, a flooring from a high quality edged board or sheet material - plywood, OSB-3 is mounted on the rafter system. Sheet material they are laid apart in order to avoid the joints of the four corners, they are fastened to self-tapping screws or brushed nails. The boarding is installed with a gap of up to 5 mm between the elements. A gap of 3-5 mm is also required if the work on fastening the battens is carried out in winter - in the future it compensates for the thermal expansion of the material.

Installation of SHINGLAS soft roof
Attention! If the solid sheathing edged board is not calibrated, it should be sorted by thickness to fit smoothly. The difference in height between adjacent base elements should not exceed 2 mm.

When assembling the flooring from boards, pay attention to the annual rings: their convex side should face up. It is recommended to use well dried lumber. If the wood is wet, fix each edge of the board with two self-tapping screws.

Before installation, wooden elements of the roof are treated with a fire-retardant composition so that the structure will serve as long as possible.

Roof ventilation

Shinglas shingles roofing systems must be well ventilated throughout the entire area for proper functioning. The arrangement of ventilation is carried out in such a way that there are no zones with air stagnation in the roof space. In the "dead zones" moisture accumulates, which provokes the development of rot in the wood, a collection of moisture with a heater.

Ventilation arrangement

The gap between the waterproofing and the crate should be ventilated. For this purpose, there are holes located at the cornice (after installing the roof covering, they are closed with soffits) and exhaust holes at the ridge. The section of the hood is made 10-15% larger than the section of the ventilation hole in order to create a difference in pressure and ensure effective draft. The size ventilation duct depends on the slope of the roof - the smaller the angle, the wider the channel should be.

Preparation for the installation of roofing

A number of works are performed before the installation of shingles, since the Shinglas soft roof installation technology implies the installation of shingles after installing the slats and arranging the junctions.

Cornice. A drop bar is mounted on the edge of the eaves overhang, it is installed with an edge along the edge of the base and fixed with nails with a pitch of about 130 cm, with the exception of the joints - there the fasteners are located with an interval of 20-30 mm.

Lining layer. To prepare the foundation for laying Shinglas roofing material, it is necessary to waterproof the surface, as well as all joints and abutments of structures. For this purpose, a special underlay carpet, self-adhesive bituminous cloth, bituminous mastic, and nails are used.

Dripper for soft roofs

With a slope of 12-18 degrees in the valleys and on the cornices, self-adhesive bitumen material canvases are attached, preferably solid, without joints. If this is not possible, shingles of flexible shingles with cut off petals are laid and glued to the mastic with an overlap of at least 300 mm. There should be a gap of 20-30 mm on the cornice between the lining strip and the drip bar. The remaining free surface is covered with a backing carpet. The strips of material are mounted from bottom to top with a longitudinal overlap of 150 mm and a transverse overlap of 100 mm. For fastening, studs are used, the step of installation of fasteners is 200-250 mm.

When the slope is over 18 degrees, an additional waterproofing layer is installed only in places with an increased risk of leaks. These include:

  • Cornices. A self-adhesive bitumen sheet is laid along the eaves, its width should exceed the width of the overhang by 600 mm.
  • Endova. The same self-adhesive material is attached with an overhang of 50 cm for each slope. If there is no solid sheet, the overlaps should be at least 300 mm, they should be filled with bitumen.
  • Ventilation outlets... A square of 100x100 mm is mounted from a lining carpet, fastening with nails at the corners and with a step of 200-250 mm.

Then the cornice strips are mounted - they are placed on top of the lining layer and fixed with nails with a pitch of the attachment points of 100-150 mm. The end strips are mounted according to the same principle. Metal scissors are suitable for trimming parts.

Shinglas installation instructions will help you create a durable and aesthetically pleasing finish. For roofing, it is advisable to use shingles from the same batch so that there are no sharp changes in tone within one roof slope. If material with the same color code is used, but from different batches, before starting the installation, shingles from different packages must be mixed together. This will help avoid noticeable color imbalance.

Note! To make the shingles easily separate from each other, before opening the package, the entire stack of sheets should be slightly bent and then shaken.

When installing the Shinglas roof in the cold season (outside temperature is below + 5 ° C), it is required to store the packed material in a warm room. Before gluing the shingle, its adhesive layer is heated with a construction hairdryer.

During the installation of Shingles, the material must be trimmed. This should be done using a cutting tool with a sharp blade and a board, which is placed under the upper shingle so as not to damage the lower one.

Performing pruning

The installation instructions for bituminous shingles indicate that the material should be stored out of direct sunlight so that the adhesive layer does not adhere to the protective film. It is forbidden to stack pallets with packages on top of each other, so as not to compress the protective film and adhesive layer into a single monolith.

Important! The roof covering softens in hot weather and it is easy to leave marks on it when working on the roof. To prevent this from happening, use special "holes" or mats made of plant fiber.

We mount ordinary tiles

Each shingle of an ordinary tile is fixed with roofing nails at four points (for roofs with a slope of up to 45 °) or six points (for slopes with slopes over 45 °). It is important to hammer in nails at right angles, without sinking the cap - it must remain in the same plane with the fixed shingle. The distance from the edge to the fastener is 2-3 cm.

The installation of an ordinary tile begins with the installation of a starting strip - it can be ridge-cornice tiles or ordinary shingles with cut petals. The strip should be laid 1-2 cm above the bend of the cornice planks, while the longer the slope and the steeper the slope angle, the larger the indent.

Next, mount the bottom row of shingles. If the slope is short, you can start from the corner. But it is more convenient to start from the middle to make it easier to align the row. Pay attention to the joint of the lower row of shingles - it should not fall on the joint of the parts of the starting strip.

SHINGLAS soft tile installation process

Shinglas shingles are mounted in diagonal ascending stripes (pyramid) or in a vertical stripe. The elements of the second row are mounted starting from the middle of the slope, shifting the shingle by half of the petal compared to the first row. The lower edge of the petal of the upper shingle should fall on the upper edge of the notch of the lower row. The third row is laid with an offset of the same half of the petal, and in the same direction.

For reliable fixation of the extreme shingles, they are coated on the back side with bitumen-polymer mastic 10 cm wide from the edge. In order for the moisture to drain better over the surface, their upper corners are cut off by 2-3 cm. After completing the installation of ordinary tiles, they begin to mount the ridge.

Output

Using the installation recommendations, you can make your own roof decking made of modern SHINGLAS material. In order not to damage the roof during operation, use tools without sharp working parts to remove snow.

Preparation of the roof base for installation

Structures made of metal, wood, reinforced concrete are used as load-bearing structures.

Rafters

Their step width varies from 0.6 to 1.5 meters. The shape of the roof and the planned load are taken into account. For the coating are used: oriented strand boards, moisture resistant plywood, boards (edged or grooved).

The less often the pitch of the rafters, the greater the thickness of these materials should have (12 - 37 mm).

Laying is carried out so that the difference in height is no more than 2 mm. The gap between the boards is 5 mm, between the sheets - 3 mm. Wooden rafters and boards are impregnated with fire retardant compounds.

Strengthening the eaves

Cornice strips are applied to the lining carpet. Fastened after 15-20 cm, in overlap areas (5 cm) - after 3 cm. The planks are covered with ridge-cornice tiles. The edges of the sheets are coated with mastic.

Installation of underlay carpet

With a roof slope of more than 18 degrees, the skates are covered to a width of 0.5 meters. Overhangs (end and cornice) - by 0.4 meters.
With a lower slope, the entire surface is covered. Rolls are laid from bottom to top, parallel to the eaves. The overlaps are coated with mastic. The fixing step is 20 cm.

Strengthening gable overhangs

It is carried out with end strips. Before installation, they are coated with mastic. They are mounted on a backing layer. The upper corners are trimmed before the shingles are laid.

Preparing the valley

Depends on the installation method: open or undercut method. With any method and slope, a self-adhesive bitumen-polymer material is laid in all valleys OS GCH Barrier. Width - 1 m. In the case of the open method, a valley carpet with the same width is mounted on top of this layer.

The edges of the sheets are coated with mastic and fixed with nails. In hot climates, a metal sheet with anti-corrosion properties can be used instead of valleys.

Roof slope marking

Performed with chalk. If you plan to insert a dormer or dormer window, the markings start from the middle of its upper part. Vertical marks are bounced after 1 meter, horizontal marks - after 0.8 m. The purpose of the marking is to align the shingles, but not to indicate the places of their attachment.

Installation of Shinglas soft roof

General recommendations for the installation of Shinglas shingles:

  • To facilitate disconnection the shingles are bent and shaken
  • In cool weather previously kept warm for a day.
  • Self-adhesive strip heated by a construction hairdryer.
  • Protective film removed before starting work.
  • Shingles remove alternately from different packages (to comply with the color scheme).
  • When slicing, the board so as not to cut through the bottom layer.
  • Styling conducted from the bottom up.

Fixing rules for ordinary tiles

When the roof slope is up to 45 degrees, 4 nails are required to fix one shingle. With a greater slope, their number increases to 6.

Starting strip

As such, a ridge-cornice tile or shingle is used, from which the protruding parts (petals) are cut off. Fastened with nails. Places where there is no adhesive layer are covered with mastic.

Laying the first, second and subsequent rows of tiles

The first row is mounted with an indent of 2 cm from the starting strip, from the center of the cornice towards the pediments.
Subsequent rows are offset so that the design pattern is formed.

The device of the valley

  1. "Open" method. The sheets lying on the valley carpet are cut so that a groove of 5 to 15 cm is formed. The maximum width is used if abundant leaf fall is expected.
  2. Undercut method. It is used for different slope angles. A slope with a lower slope is covered so that the shingles go 30 cm onto a steeper slope. The tops of the sheets are fastened with nails. Then it is laid on a steeper slope. Having retreated 8 cm from the axis of the valley, beat off a line with chalk and cut off the excess. The edges of the sheets are glued with mastic. The corners of the top sheets are cut to ensure water rebound.

The device of the ribs of the slopes and skates

Ridge-cornice tiles are used... It is divided into three parts according to the perforation applied. Laying starts from the bottom. When constructing skates, the direction of the prevailing winds is taken into account - installation begins on the opposite side.

With some forms of cutting, it is possible to use ordinary sheets. To simplify the process of bending the shingles at an angle, a heated pipe with a diameter of 10 mm is used.
Installation of SHINGLAS flexible shingles on curved surfaces.

  • Segment method technology... The underlay is being laid. Marking is applied to it. The segments are covered with shingles. The joints between the segments are closed with cornice-ridge tiles.
  • Seamless fashion technology. The underlayment is marked with a pitch equal to half of the tile petal. Lines are drawn to the top. The shingles are divided into petals, the first row is laid. Each next row is shifted by the width of half the petal.

Junction device

Passage elements

Special pass-throughs are used... These structures are attached to the roof with nails. Sheets are laid on top, cut off and insulated with mastic.

Roof exits are attached to the passage elements. For mild climates, uninsulated ones are used, for northern regions it is advisable to install insulated with polyurethane.

Two options for sealing the passage elements:

  1. Shaped details... Made of EPDM rubber. Available for pipes with a diameter of 10 to 250 mm. Mastic is applied under the horizontal part. A shingle pattern is applied. The top of the molded part is tightened with a metal clamp. A sealant (polysulfide or polyurethane) is applied.
  2. Steel glass... It is used for pipes with a diameter of up to 10 mm and other elements. Installed on the underlay carpet. Heated mastic is applied under and on the flange of the glass. Sheets are laid on top, cut so as to ensure a tight abutment. The glass is half full polyurethane foam, then a sealant (thiokol or polyurethane).
    If the pipes are constantly warming up, a box filled with non-combustible mineral insulation is mounted. The connection to the box is arranged in the same way as to the wall.

Roof care

Shingle roofing is considered to be unpretentious in maintenance... But it requires regular seasonal inspections. This allows you to identify the damage that has occurred and eliminate them at the early stages of destruction. Particular attention is paid to valleys, skates, abutments and walkways.

Decontamination is not only necessary for aesthetic reasons. Removing dust, soil particles and plants prevents the germination of plant seeds, mosses and lichens. Cleaning up dirt is done with a soft brush. Sharp and heavy objects are removed by hand. Snow cover removal is carried out in layers, with a non-metallic scraper.

Shinglas roofing repair

Repairs in progress by replacing damaged areas. You can easily make repairs with your own hands. Pieces of new shingles are warmed up with a construction hairdryer, fixed with nails and mastic.

In the absence of complete shingles, repair is possible by patching. Their size should exceed the damaged area by 10 cm in all directions.

Damaged area cleared of dirt, warmed up by a hairdryer. Particles of basalt dressing are crushed into the softened bitumen with a spatula. A layer of mastic is applied. A patch is applied, pressed tightly.

The twin structure of Shinglas Ranch increases the mechanical strength of the shingle and allows it to withstand significant climatic changes and wind loads.

Installation of flexible shingles SHINGLAS (TECHNONICOL SHINGLAS)

The main elements to ensure the normal temperature and humidity conditions of the roof are vapor barrier, insulation of the required thickness (depending on the region), windproof material, ventilated under-roof space.

Flexible shingles with the same color codes and production dates should be used on the same roof. The shades of shingles from different batches may vary slightly. To avoid color imbalance, Euromet's specialists recommend mixing the tiles from several packages before starting installation. For easier separation of the shingles from each other, the package can be slightly bent and shaken before opening.

If the installation of the roof is carried out at temperatures below + 5 ° C, the packages with the tiles must be kept in a warm room before installation. The self-adhesive layer of material must be warmed up with a heat (building) hair dryer.

When cutting a soft roof, a special board should be placed under it so as not to damage the lower covering.

During storage, Shinglas shingles must be protected from direct sunlight, since under their influence the adhesive layer can sinter with the protective film. Material pallets cannot be stacked on top of each other.

Do not walk on the roofing in sunny and hot weather, as it may be left with marks and stains from shoes. It is recommended to move along the roof using special manholes.

Materials used

SHINGLAS flexible shingles differ from similar products of other Russian manufacturers in a wide range of colors and cutting shapes. Currently, there are about 50 different models of Shinglas shingles on the domestic market.

Self-adhesive lining materials:

  • ANDEREP ULTRA is a highly durable self-adhesive underlay. High reliability of the material is achieved due to a strong polyester base and high-quality bitumen-polymer binder. The upper protective layer of the lining carpet is made of fine-grained sand dust.
  • ANDEREP BARRIER is a baseless self-adhesive material. A thick reinforcing film is used as the top protective layer. The absence of a base allows you to maintain the integrity of the waterproofing material in the event of deformation of the base.

Mechanical fixing liners:

  • ANDEREP PROF - has a durable polyester backing and a non-slip polypropylene top coat. Thanks to the special bitumen polymer blend the material can "self-heal", that is, it retains its tightness at the points of entry of nails.
  • ANDEREP GL is a backing material with double-sided protection of the polymer mixture with layers of fine-grained sand dust.

End carpet TechnoNICOL

The TechnoNICOL valley carpet is a rolled bitumen-polymer material. It is produced on the basis of polyester, has a protective coating of coarse-grained basalt granulate. It is used as a waterproofing layer in valleys and places that are exposed to the greatest stress.

Abutment planks, cornice and pediment overhangs

Metal elements with a special protective (anti-corrosion) coating.

Roofing nails

Special galvanized nails are used. The diameter of the nail stem is from 3 mm, the head is from 9 mm, the length is 25-30 mm.

Roofing material consumption

Roof tiles. Each package of Shinglas soft roofs of the “Country” and “Jazz” series contains a quantity of tiles sufficient to cover 2 m 2 of the roof (including overlaps). In packages of Shinglas shingles - for 3 m 2 of the roof. The calculation of the amount of material should be made taking into account the coefficient, the value of which depends on the complexity of the roof. The waste of bitumen shingles with cutting shapes "Accord", "Sonata", "Dragon Tooth" together with ridge-cornice shingles is up to 5%. For the rest of the tiles, when calculating the amount of material, waste at the level of 10-15% should be taken into account (including consumption for the starting strip, ridge and roof ribs).

Roofing nails. Required amount roofing nails are determined at the rate of approximately 80 g per 1 m 2 of the roof.

TechnoNICOL mastic No. 23 (FIXER). 400 g of mastic is consumed on the end carpet for 1 m., For the end parts - 100 g per 1 m., For sealing the abutments - about 750 g per 1 m. Do not dilute the mastic with solvents and apply it in a thicker layer. 1 mm, this can lead to smudges and swelling of the material.

Preparation of the roof base for installation

1. Decking for flexible shingles

Rather strict requirements are imposed on the base for soft tiles. It should be rigid, solid and even (differences in height are allowed no more than 1-2 mm). Large-panel flooring is laid with a gap between the seams; self-tapping screws or brushed nails are used to fix it. During installation wood flooring you need to pay attention to the fragments of the annual rings and lay the material so that they are facing downward with bulges. If the installation of the OSB-3 or plywood base is carried out in the cold season, a gap of 3 mm should be left between the sheets. This will avoid deformation of the flooring due to thermal expansion of the material in the summer.

Before installing the boarding, you must first sort the boards by thickness. They are laid so that the thickness of the base changes gradually. At the same time, thicker boards are laid closer to the cornice, and thinner boards at the ridge. The joints of the boards should be located on supports, in these places the boards are fixed with at least 4 nails. If damp wood is used, the boards are fixed with 2 self-tapping screws on each side.

2. Strengthening the eaves

To strengthen the eaves overhang, metal eaves strips are used. These elements protect the roofing material in the eaves zone from the effects of precipitation. The eaves are attached to the edge of the solid base with roofing nails. Nails are driven in a checkerboard pattern at a distance of 12-15 cm from each other. The planks are laid with an overlap, the width of the overlaps should be 3-5 cm.In the places of the overlaps, nails are hammered in with a step of 2-3 cm.

3. Installation of underlay carpet

The lining carpet for any roof slope is mounted over its entire area. In the area of eaves and in valleys, self-adhesive ANDEREP backing material or other similar material is laid. It serves as an additional protective coating in areas where leaks are most likely.

On eaves, the width of the self-adhesive underlay should be 60 cm greater than the width of the eaves. The width of the eaves is measured from the plane of the inner side outer wall buildings as shown. The lower edge of the carpet should be 2-3 cm above the edge of the eaves.

A self-adhesive underlay carpet 1 m wide is laid in the valleys (each slope is covered by 50 cm). It is desirable that the carpet be continuous along the entire length of the valley. In the case of using two or more canvases, they are laid with an overlap. The width of the overlaps should be 30 cm, the seams must be carefully glued.

On the rest of the roof surface, an ANDEREP backing material with mechanical fixation or other similar material is mounted. The canvases are laid parallel to the eaves. Installation of the underlayment begins from the bottom of the roof slope and gradually moves up to the ridge. The width of the overlaps in the longitudinal direction should be 10 cm. An exception is made with organic backing materials (eg BiCARD). For them, when laying on a roof slope with a slope of up to 30 °, the overlap width should be 60 cm, and with a slope of more than 30 ° - 10 cm. The overlaps of the canvases in the transverse direction are made 15 cm wide.

The lining carpet is fixed with galvanized nails with wide heads, the nails are driven in at a distance of 20-25 cm from each other. Places of overlaps 8-10 cm wide are coated with TechnoNICOL No. 23 mastic.

Note. When installing SHINGLAS shingles with "Accord", "Sonata", "Trio", "Beaver tail" cut shapes, it is allowed to mount the backing material only in places where leaks are most likely. It is laid in strips 50 cm wide along the perimeter of the roof (and along the eaves overhangs up to 60 cm above the plane of the inner surface of the walls, see fig.), 1 m wide in valleys, 50 cm around the perimeter roof windows and 1x1 m around the passage elements. At the same time, the terms and conditions of the warranty change and become the same as for products of other manufacturers. The climate in different regions of Russia is significantly different, therefore this note does not apply to all regions, but only to the Central Federal District, the Southern Federal District, the Volga Federal District, the North Caucasus Federal District and the Northwestern Federal District.

4. Strengthening the gable overhangs

To strengthen the gable overhangs, metal end strips are used. They are fixed on top of the lining material with roofing nails with a pitch of 12-15 cm, the nails are hammered in a checkerboard pattern. The end strips are laid with an overlap, the width of the overlaps should be 3-5 cm, in these places the nails are hammered in 2-3 cm. When installing the Shinglas soft roof, the pediment strips are coated with mastic and the upper corners are cut at the extreme shingles.

5. Preparing the valley

There are two ways to install Shinglas soft roofs in valleys - open and “undercut”. The preparation of the valley depends on which method is used.

Along the valley axis (1) over the self-adhesive lining material (2), lay the TechnoNICOL valley carpet (3) with a horizontal offset of 2-3 cm. On the lower side of the valley carpet along the perimeter 10 cm from the edge is coated bituminous mastic TechnoNICOL. When using the open method of the valley device, the valley carpet can be replaced with a metal strip with an anti-corrosion coating. Such a replacement is advisable for regions with hot climates. The valley carpet (or metal strip) is fixed with roofing nails, they are hammered at a distance of 2-3 cm from the edge of the material with a step of 20-25 cm. It is advisable to lay a continuous (without overlaps) valley carpet along the entire length of the valley. If this is not possible, the parts of the carpet are overlapped. The overlaps are made 30 cm wide, the material in these places must be carefully glued.

When constructing a valley using the "undercut" method, the valley carpet does not need to be mounted.

6. Marking the roof slope

Markings are guide lines that, when laying soft tiles, help align them vertically and horizontally. This is especially true in the case of incorrect geometry of the roof slope and the presence of any structures embedded in the roof. Vertical lines are applied with a step equal to the width of the shingle of an ordinary tile. There should be 5 rows of material between the horizontal lines, so they are applied approximately 80 cm apart. It should be remembered that the marking serves only as a directing function, and is not a guideline for securing a bituminous roof.

Installation of Shinglas soft roof

Before installation, shingles from several packages are mixed or sheets are taken from them one by one.

If Shinglas will be laid at a low temperature (below + 5 ° C), the packaging must be placed in a warm room (+ 20 ° C) for at least a day in advance. From there, several packages are served immediately before starting work. The self-adhesive strip on the tiles should be warmed up with a heat (construction) hair dryer.

When working on the roof, the material should be cut on a plank underneath so as not to damage the underlying roofing.

In sunny and hot weather, do not walk on the installed roofing, as marks and stains may remain on it. You need to move along the roof using special manholes.

2. Rules for fixing ordinary tiles

Each shingle shingle is fixed to the base with galvanized nails with wide heads. The number of fasteners depends on the angle of inclination of the roof slope. With a slope up to 45 °, each shingle is nailed with four nails, more than 45 ° - with six nails. The nails should be positioned evenly and driven in so that the caps do not cut into the surface of the soft roof, but are in the same plane with it (see fig.).

The location of fasteners for all forms of Shinglas cutting is shown in the figure. On both sides, the shingles are nailed at a distance of 2-3 cm from the edge.

3. Starting strip

For the starting strip, use a universal ridge-eaves tile or shingles of ordinary soft tiles with cut petals.

Ridge-cornice bitumen shingles are used as a starting strip when laying Shinglas with the "Accord" and "Sonata" cutting shapes. It is laid on top of the cornice strips 1-2 cm above their bend (see fig.). The width of the indent from the bend of the cornice planks depends on the slope angle and the length of the roof slope. The longer and steeper the slope, the wider the indent should be.

When installing Shinglas shingles with cutting shapes "Beaver Tail", "Trio", "Accord", "Sonata", shingles of shingles with cut petals are used for the starting strip. Before laying, their underside in places where there is no adhesive layer should be coated with TechnoNICOL mastic. Patterns from ordinary tiles are mounted in the same way as ridge-cornice tiles.

The starting strip for sheets with the "Dragon's Tooth" cutting shape is made from shingles of ordinary shingles, you do not need to cut them. Their installation is carried out in the same way as for ridge-cornice tiles.

4. Laying the first, second and subsequent rows of tiles

On long roof slopes, it is recommended to start laying the material from the middle of the slope, this will make it easier to level it horizontally. 1-2 cm recede from the initial (central) strip and the first shingle is mounted (see Fig.). In this case, you should pay attention to the fact that the joint of the shingles of the tiles of the first row does not coincide with the joint of the elements of the starting strip.

Installation must be done with diagonal stripes (see fig.).

Depending on the shape of the cut, the soft roof can be laid in diagonal stripes, in the form of a pyramid or vertical stripes (see pictures). The shingles of the second row begin to be laid from the middle of the slope, with a horizontal offset in either direction by half a petal relative to the tiles of the first row. In this case, the lower edge of the petals of the tiles of the second row should be located at the level of the upper edge of the cutouts on the shingles of the first row.

The sheets of the third row are mounted with an offset of half a petal relative to the shingles of the second row in the same direction as when laying the previous row.

It is recommended to coat the extreme shingles of ordinary tiles in places where there is no adhesive layer with TechnoNICOL bitumen mastic 10 cm wide from the edge of the roof. Their upper corners are cut by 2-3 cm for more efficient water release.

Note: The Shinglas soft roof of the "Jazz" series is laid with an offset of 15-85 cm relative to the previous row. In this case, there is no need to adhere to a special order, the general pattern should be abstract (see Fig.).

5. The device of the valley

In the valley area, ordinary tiles are mounted on top of the valley carpet on two roof slopes (see Fig.). Each shingle suitable for the valley is additionally fixed in the upper part with roofing nails (2) at a distance of at least 30 cm from the axis of the valley (1). Then, with the help of laces, two lines are beaten (3). Ordinary shingles are cut along these lines, having previously placed a plank under it so as not to damage the valley carpet. The upper corners of the 3 shingles approaching the line are cut to drain the water (4). On the lower side, in places where there is no adhesive layer, the bituminous roof is coated 10 cm from the undercut line with TechnoNICOL mastic (5).

The width of the valley gutter depends on the location of the building and the amount of water flow from the roof slopes, it can be from 5 to 15 cm. If the building is located among trees (for example, in a forest), then the gutter is made wider to facilitate the removal of leaves. With a significantly different watercourse from the slopes, to prevent the roofing material from being washed away by water, the valley gutters are shifted towards the smaller watercourse.

When constructing a valley using the “undercut” method, first, the level shingles are laid on the slope, which has a smaller slope angle (see Fig.). In this case, the sheets of ordinary tiles should go on a steeper slope by at least 30 cm. In the upper part, each shingle is additionally fixed with roofing nails (2) at a distance of at least 30 cm from the valley axis (1). When the lower slope is completely covered, the tiles are laid on the second slope. On a steeper roof slope, at a distance of 7-8 cm from the axis of the valley, the line (3) is beaten off. Along this line, sheets are cut, suitable for the valley from a steeper slope (it is recommended to fit a plank under it so as not to damage the underlying material). The upper corners of the extreme shingles are cut to drain water (4). On the lower side, in places where there is no adhesive layer, these shingles are coated 10 cm wide with TechnoNICOL bitumen mastic (5).

6. The device of the ribs of the slopes and skates

When using this method, ridge-cornice tiles are used. Previously, it is divided into three parts by perforation. Ridge-cornice tiles are used for the installation of Shinglas “Accord”, “Sonata”, “Dragon's Tooth” soft roofs.

Edge. The shingles extending to the edge are cut so that a gap of 0.5 cm remains between the tiles from adjacent slopes. With the help of laces, two reference lines are struck along the edge. Lay the shingles on the edge from bottom to top. The elements are mounted with an overlap, the overlaps should be 3-5 cm wide. Euromet recommends fastening each shingle with four nails (2 on each side) so that the upper one covers the fasteners of the lower one.

Skate. A soft roof on the ridge begins to be laid on the side opposite to the direction of the prevailing winds in the area. Its installation is carried out in the same way as the installation of tiles on the edges of the roof.

When using Shinglas shingles with the “Trio”, “Sonata”, “Dragon's Tooth”, “Beaver's Tail” cut shapes, the elements for covering the ridge and ribs can be cut from the shingles of the ordinary shingles. For the “Sonata” slicing form, its upper part will be visible, and the lower part will be closed (see fig.)

On the lower side, in places where there is no adhesive layer, the elements are coated with TechnoNICOL mastic before laying. Shelter of ridge and ribs with patterns from ordinary tiles is carried out in the same way as with ridge-cornice tiles.

Important: When installing Shinglas soft roofs of the “Country”, “Classic”, “Jazz”, “Finnish tile” series in conditions of low (up to + 5 ° C) temperature, it is recommended to bend the elements on a warm pipe with a diameter of about 10 cm. This will prevent their cracking.

7. Installation of SHINGLAS shingles on curved surfaces (domes, cones)

On non-standard roofs, Shinglas shingles can be installed in two ways - segmental and seamless. When using any of them, a backing carpet must be installed first.

Mounting Shinglas on a domed or tapered surface in a segmental way involves dividing it into segments. The size of the segments depends on the size and shape of the covered surface. Lines are bounced off with laces. An ordinary tile is mounted on each segment, and ridge tiles are mounted on the joints with them (similar to the ridge and roof ribs). The width of the ridge shingles must also match the dimensions of the covered surface.

1) Metal tip (installed after mounting the shinglas);

2) vertical trim lines (ramp markings);

3) a whole petal of a tile;

4) 1/2 of a tile petal;

5) ANDEREP underlayment.

When laying tiles using a seamless method, special attention must be paid to the marking of the surface (see figure). First, marks are made on its base with chalk with a step equal to half the petal of the tile used. From these marks on the lining carpet (5), lines are drawn to the top of the covered surface (at the top, the lines are connected). Ordinary tiles are cut into separate petals, of which the first row is mounted. The next row is shifted by half a petal relative to the previous row. The material for it is cut in accordance with the marked marking lines (2). When the width of the trimmed elements becomes half the original width (4), for the next row, the entire petals of the tiles begin to be used again (3). In this order, the roof is laid to the top of the surface. The top is decorated with a metal tip (1).

8. Arrangement of abutments

For a smoother bend of materials at the junction of the wall to the roof slope, a triangular rail is nailed (see Fig.). It can be made from diagonally cut wooden beam section 50x50 mm or use an ordinary wooden plinth. If the wall adjacent to the roof is brick, it is pre-plastered and primed. The shingles of ordinary shingles that fit to the abutment are brought onto the nailed rail. Strips with a width of at least 50 cm are cut out of the TechnoNICOL valley carpet. On the lower side, they are treated with TechnoNICOL bitumen mastic over the entire surface and laid on top of the tiles. The strips of the valley carpet are positioned so that they extend onto the wall by at least 30 cm (and even higher in regions with heavy snow loads). The upper edge of the abutment material is inserted into a striker and pressed with a metal apron. The structure is fixed mechanically and sealed with polyurethane, thiokol or silicone sealant.

Method of sealing the joints of the roof covering with ventilation pipes and chimneys is shown in the figure. Patterns are made from the valley carpet or metal sheet with an anti-corrosion coating, they are cut and bent in the indicated places. First, the front pattern is mounted on top of the ordinary shingles that fit the pipe. Then the side patterns are laid and, last but not least, the back patterns. They are wound under the shingles of the material. On the back and sides, a groove 80 mm wide is made. At the shingles of the soft roof suitable for the pipe, the upper corners are cut to drain the water. The underside of these shingles, in places where there is no adhesive layer, is coated with TechnoNICOL bitumen mastic to a width of 10 cm.

If the cross-section of the pipe is more than 50x50 cm, and it is located across the roof slope, a groove is made behind the pipe (see Fig.). This will prevent excessive accumulation of snow behind the pipe.

If the bottom of the roof slope is adjacent to the wall, a metal rainstorm is mounted at the end of it (see fig.).

9. Passage elements

To seal the places where utility pipes, antennas, etc. pass through the roof. use special pass-through elements (see fig.). The bushing is secured mechanically (with nail connections). Shingles of ordinary bituminous shingles are laid on it, cut off and fixed to the flange with TechnoNICOL No. 23 FIXER mastic. Then a suitable roof outlet is installed on the passage element.

TechnoNICOL roof ventilation elements can be non-insulated or insulated (see fig.). They are part of the ventilation and sewerage systems. The use of polyurethane-insulated ventilation outlets is advisable in areas with long, frosty winters, since condensate does not freeze inside them. It is not recommended to install hoods on roof drainage outlets, as condensation accumulates in them. If it freezes, it will interfere with normal ventilation.

For a more aesthetic appearance of the roof exit, a hood can be installed on it without internal scatterers (see Fig.). In addition to its decorative function, it helps prevent precipitation and foliage from entering the pipe.

Roof care

  1. In spring and autumn, it is necessary to inspect the roof to check its condition and timely identify defects.
  2. It is recommended to remove foliage and small debris from the roof covering with a soft bristled brush. Sharp tools must not be used as this may damage the tiles.
  3. Objects with sharp edges are removed from the roof by hand.
  4. Drains, gutters and pipes should be checked periodically and cleaned of debris if necessary.
  5. If a large amount of snow accumulates on the roof, it is removed layer by layer with a mild shovel. At the same time, a layer of snow approximately 10 cm thick is left to protect the roofing.
  6. From time to time, Euromet's specialists recommend checking the condition (and, if necessary, repairing) metal parts, mounting holes, openings and other elements on the roof.

Shinglas shingles roof repair

SHINGLAS bituminous tile is a repairable roofing material. In the presence of minor defects in the roofing, its local repair can be carried out independently. It is important to identify and, if possible, eliminate the causes of material damage. This can be, for example, installation errors, scuffs from closely spaced tree branches, the presence of depressions in which water stagnates, etc.

Installation of Shinglas soft tiles - special laying technology and secrets for roof care

At Shingles' homeland in the US, this roofing material is # 1 in popularity among individual developers.

In a short time, Shingles gained fame, thanks to the quality and ease of installation, the demand for the material is constantly growing.

In this article we will look at detailed installation instructions shingles Shinglas, as well as pay attention to the recommendations for the care of the roof. You can read about other types of soft roofing here.

What are Shingles

Shingles is bituminous laminate modular size, consists of three components: fiberglass, bitumen composition and basalt granulate... In production, two or more layers of material are sintered together, shingles are cut, stacked in commercial bundles, packs are wrapped in film.

Fiberglass provides strength, it is durable and does not corrode, does not require treatment with fungicides, and does not rot. The improved bitumen composition has increased thermal stability, which allows use the material in all climatic zones with no restrictions.

Basalt sprinkling protects against mechanical damage, UV radiation, temperatures and precipitation. Spreading with painted basalt does not fade over time, makes it possible to create unique color compositions... The consumer can choose Shingles to their liking from 12 collections and 70 color design options.

Modules (shingles) - rectangular, with curly cutouts along the lower edge, depending on the collection, they have a different configuration. Bottom modules are sprinkled with sand to prevent sticking in packages. There is also a strip of adhesive, which secures the shingles to each other. The strip is protected before installation with a special film. Shingles are laid in overlapping rows, which ensures reliable waterproofing of the coating.

All about virtues

Developers value this material for a reason. For more than a century of operation of roofs from Shingles, everything has become known about the advantages:

  1. Durability;
  2. Atmospheric, bio- and chemical resistance;
  3. Physical characteristics;
  4. Simplicity of shinglas roof installation;
  5. Excellent waterproofing properties;
  6. Profitability;
  7. Environmental friendliness;
  8. Aesthetics.

Ease of installation provide physical characteristics: flexibility, low volumetric weight, easy-to-use size.

Profitability give a low price in comparison with analogues and a convenient size, due to which waste is reduced to a minimum.

Sustainability achieved by the possibility of recycling and no impact on the ecosystem.

Aesthetics - variety of designs and wide color palette materials to make each roof unique.

Shinglas flexible tile

A little about the disadvantages

The disadvantages include:

  • narrow temperature range of installation: from +5 to + 27 ° С: at lower temperatures, the tiles must be heated up to 20 ° C before installation, at higher temperatures, they must not be loaded in order to avoid loss of shape;
  • it is advisable not to walk on the finished coating;
  • limited roof slope for Shingles - from 12 to 40 °.

Shingles Specifications

Currently, TECHNONICOL factories produce Shingles of 3 types: one-, two- and three-layer. Technical characteristics of other types of soft roofs on the link. Their technical performance is somewhat different.

Shinglas installation - preparing tools

For quality styling except for Shingles tools needed:

Additional materials and products convenient to buy at the same time as shingles, the seller will tell you what is needed and in what quantity to deliver to the construction site all the kit necessary for covering, saving on additional trips. So:

  1. ANDEREP lining material;
  2. TECHNONICOL mastic No. 23 (FIXER);
  3. Vapor barrier;
  4. Galvanized nails;
  5. Ventilation systems - aerators, outlets, passages;
  6. Drainage system;
  7. Cornice strips, end strips, abutments.

The type and amount of lining material, elements of the drainage system and ventilation systems depends on the type of flexible tiles, the area and structure of the roof, the height of the house.

Preparatory work

Roof base - roof structure - calculated in accordance with the snow load in the climatic zone, the span and the angle of inclination of the roof specified by the house project. The type of system also affects the profile of the load-bearing elements.: hanging rafters; based on a Mauerlat or a structure with a central support and struts.

The distance between the rafters is taken no more than 0.9 m, an increase in the step leads to an increase in the profile of beams, lathing and counter-lathing, that is, it is simply not economical.

It's a little easier with a crate, its step is taken constructively 35 cm, the profile is also calculated by the calculator. The lathing is necessary for ventilation of the roof space. Between the rafters and the crate, we lay a vapor barrier material, which prevents condensation from reaching the continuous deck - the base for the installation of tiles. Read about the soft roof cake here.

Exiting above the roof level vertical surfaces made of brick or concrete (e.g. chimneys) you need to plaster and coat with primer to the device of continuous flooring.

Flooring can be made of various materials - edged boards, moisture resistant plywood or chipboard, fiberboard, OSB-3... Plates must be laid apart (with displacement of the joints), leaving a gap of 3-4 mm at the joints for thermal expansion of the material. Boards should have a moisture content of no more than 15-18%... Orient the annual rings with the convex part down.

We strengthen the eaves overhangs with a metal eaves strip, fixing it with nails in a checkerboard pattern, fastening spacing 120-150 mm, we join the strips with an overlap of 3-5 cm, fasten the joints every 2-3 cm. More details about the additional elements here.

P on the flooring we put a self-adhesive underlay carpet in the valleys and on the eaves:

  • In valleys - 1m wide (50 cm for each slope);
  • On overhangs - by the amount of overhang + 600 mm from the inner edge of the outer wall.

Along the lining carpet, we reinforce the gable overhangs with special metal strips, fastening them similarly to the cornice strips.

Reinforcement of the valley is required for open Shingles: A TECHNONICOL valley material is laid over the self-adhesive carpet with a horizontal shift of 20-30 mm. The lower part of the reinforcing fabric is coated with bitumen mastic to a width of 100 mm from the edges and smoothed to the base. Instead of the valley material, a sheet of metal with anti-corrosion protection can be used. The reinforcing material is fastened with nails every 20-25 cm with an indent of 20-30 mm from the edge.

The preliminary work ends with the marking of the horizontal and vertical lines on the slope, which facilitate the laying of the cover layer.

Shinglas: installation instructions

Mix 5-6 packs of Shingles prior to laying the top coat to obtain a more uniform color transition. The technology for laying soft shinglas shingles is quite simple:

  1. We start laying from the middle of the longest slope and work from the bottom up. As a cornice we use a special ridge - cornice shingle, or a trimmed ordinary shingle.
  2. Glue the bottom shingle onto the lining with an indent of 10-20 mm from the fold of the eaves strip and fasten with nails.
  3. We mount the subsequent rows diagonally.
  4. We install special exit penetrations communications, aerators and ventilation, chimneys.
  5. We nail a triangular rail along the perimeter of vertical surfaces and glue strips 500 mm wide cut from the valley material onto the mastic (300 for the wall, 200 for the roof), we put the edge of the strip into a stripe and protect it with a metal apron.
  6. We fix the ridge element, made of ordinary tiles and bent on a heated metal pipe Ø10 cm, each nailing with 4 nails.

Longevity recipe

If you want to prolong exploitation its beautiful new roof made of soft tiles, be prepared to service it regularly:

  1. Twice a year inspect surfaces, joints and abutments;
  2. To cleanse a soft brush from dead leaves and debris;
  3. Pick up trash manually with sharp edges;
  4. Clean drains and trays;
  5. Remove snow a wooden or plastic shovel in layers, leaving about 10 cm of snow to protect;
  6. Carry out minor repairs if necessary. You can read about roof repairs in winter following the link.

The manufacturer gives a guarantee for a single-layer fabric for 10-15 years, two-layer fabric up to 55 years, three-layer fabric - 60 years... Following the shinglas shingles installation technology (all about shingles here) offered by the manufacturer, inspecting the roof twice a year and taking care of it regularly, we can say with confidence - Shingles is enough for my life!

Installation of Shinglas and the technology of laying Shinglas soft tiles with your own hands

This article is dedicated to Shinglas soft shingles, in which we will analyze in detail the technology of flexible shingles laying, as well as consider detailed instructions for installing the Rancho soft roof on the roof.

Installation of shinglas shingles

A roof made of Shinglas shingles will last a long time without changing the appearance and functional qualities only if the roof structure provides normal ventilation of the under-roof space, reliable hydro-vapor barrier and insulation, corresponding to the climatic conditions of the area where the building is built.

It is not allowed to use flexible shingles of different colors on the same roof. All Shinglas packages intended for the same roof must have the same color codes.

Even if the color codes are the same, the shades of soft roofs in different packages may differ slightly. To make these differences invisible on the finished roof, Westmet specialists recommend mixing shingles from several packages during installation and laying them diagonally.

Installation of Shinglas is allowed at low air temperatures, however, in this case, several additional rules should be observed. If the temperature does not exceed plus 5-10 degrees Celsius, then the tiles should be delivered to the roof from a heated room - no more than 6 packs at a time. In such weather, the adhesive strip on the tile shingles should be warmed up with a construction hair dryer (if more high temperature it does not need heating).

If it becomes necessary to cut the tiles directly on the roof, then in no case should this be done on the mounted roof. It is recommended to use a pre-prepared board so as not to damage the already installed bituminous shingles.

Shingle pallets should be stored in a place protected from direct sunlight, otherwise the self-adhesive strips may adhere to the protective foil and complicate installation later.

Shinglas soft-roofed pallets should never be stacked on top of each other.

To make the shingles easier to separate from each other, before opening the next package of material, it is recommended that you first bend it a little and then shake it.

Important: in order not to leave stains on the SHINGLAS roofing in clear and hot weather, as well as at low temperatures and high air humidity, it is undesirable to walk on the already installed tiles. To move on the roof, you need to leave the holes through which you can get to the desired place of the slope.

Necessary materials

SHINGLAS has the widest assortment among all types of soft roofing. More than 60 Shinglas colors are supplied to the Russian market.

ANDEREP self-adhesive materials:

  • ANDEREP ULTRA is a high strength waterproofing lining material. It is produced on a polyester base with a mineral coating. A fine-grained coating of the outer surface (sand-dusted) provides additional protection. This underlay is most effective when using Shinglas shingles.
  • ANDEREP BARRIER is a lightweight, sand-coated polyester waterproofing material. It is used as additional protection of soft roofs from leaks in those places where they are most likely.

ANDEREP materials with mechanical fastening:

  • ANDEREP PROF is a particularly lightweight roll material that can be used in combination with both shingles and other types of pitched roofing. The specific gravity of the polyester waterproofing material with a non-slip polypropylene outer layer is only 0.4 kg per square meter, which greatly facilitates installation.
  • ANDEREP GL is a waterproofing lining for roofs covered with bituminous tiles. The fiberglass base is covered with sand dust on the outside and inside. When heated, special strips in the places of longitudinal overlaps acquire adhesive properties, therefore, when joining adjacent sheets of a lining carpet, it is not necessary to use special mastic.

The special underlayment TechnoNICOL is intended for valleys, which are exposed to moisture much more than the rest of the roof. The valley carpet is made of polyester and is covered with mineral chips on the outside. This coarse-grained protective coating based on basalt granules reliably protects the valley from leaks.

Cornice, pediment overhangs and abutment strips

When installing Shinglas, a number of additional elements are used, made of metal with an anti-corrosion protective coating, which also plays a decorative role. These are, in particular, abutment strips, pediment overhangs and cornice strips.

Fasteners - roofing nails

To fix the bituminous shingles, special galvanized (galvanized) roofing nails are used. Their length is from 3 to 4.5 centimeters, the diameter of the rod is from 3 millimeters, and the diameter of the cap is at least 9 mm.

Bitumen-polymer mastic TechnoNIKOL No. 23 (FIXER)

Cold mastic FIXER from TechnoNICOL on a bitumen-polymer basis is used for gluing lining materials and elements of roofing.

Roof ventilation TechnoNICOL

For proper ventilation of the under-roof space, it is necessary that there are a sufficient number of supply openings in the lower part of the roof, and exhaust openings in the upper part, respectively. Special ventilation elements significantly improve air movement in the under-roof space.

In addition to lining materials and additional elements from TechnoNICOL, it is allowed to use their analogues from other manufacturers with similar characteristics.

Shingles consumption

The number of tiles in one package depends on the type of Shinglas. For the Country collection it is 2.6 square meters per package, for the Rancho and Jazz collections - 2 square meters, and for the Western and Continent series - 1.5 square meters. The norm for all other Shinglas collections is 3 square meters per package. All figures are given based on the area of the finished roof (that is, taking into account all the overlaps when laying the roofing).

On roofs of complex configuration, material consumption increases. In addition, one should keep in mind the waste coefficient, which depends on the shape of the shingles. Slicing like Sonata, Dragontooth or Accord assumes no more than 5% waste. With other forms of cutting, the waste ratio increases to 10-15%. This is due to the need to arrange starting strips and design ridges and ridge of the roof.

For each square meter of the roof, approximately 80 g of fasteners (galvanized nails) are required.

Consumption of TechnoNICOL mastic (FIXER):

Gluing overlaps of lining materials without self-adhesive strips requires about 100 g of FIXER mastic per running meter.

When installing a carpet for a valley, up to 400 g of mastic is consumed per running meter.

Bonding the joints to ensure tightness requires approximately 750 g per meter.

The mastic should be applied in a thin layer (no more than 1 mm), otherwise swelling may appear in the glued areas.

Preparation of the base for the roof

SHINGLAS bitumen shingles are laid on a solid base, which can be made of boards, plywood, large-panel panels, oriented strand boards. Wood or other materials must be dry.

The flooring should be laid evenly - so that the height differences between the boards or slabs do not exceed 2 millimeters.

Large-panel panels are laid with a gap in the seams and fixed with self-tapping screws or special ruffled nails.

Plywood and oriented strand board have a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than other wood materials, therefore, when constructing a plywood or OSB-3 base, a gap of 3-5 millimeters wide should remain between the boards.

If the flooring is made of boards, then all of them should be laid as shown in Figure 4 - with the same orientation of the annual rings, visible at the ends of the boards. An incorrectly laid board is crossed out in the illustration.

If boards are used that are not the same in thickness, then the thickest of them should be located at the eaves of the roof, and then gradually reduce the thickness of the flooring from the eaves to the ridge.

Docking adjacent boards should be on the roof rafters, securing them at the junction with at least four nails.

If necessary, the boarding under the shingles can also be made of damp wood. In this case, the boards are fixed at the edges with two self-tapping screws, and before the installation of Shinglas, the flooring must dry out.

Installation of cornice strips

To strengthen the eaves overhang of the roof, special eaves strips are used, made of metal with a protective coating. They are mounted along the edge of the deck as shown in fig. 6 and fixed with nails, which are driven in at a distance of 12-15 centimeters from each other in a checkerboard pattern. At the joints, the cornice strips are laid with an overlap of 3-5 cm.

Installation of waterproofing materials

The lining material is usually laid over the entire surface of the slopes. Where ordinary shingles will be installed, Westmet engineers recommend using a mechanically fixed underlay, and self-adhesive waterproofing materials in valleys, cornices and other places with an increased risk of leaks.

ANDEREP roll materials from TechnoNICOL are best suited as roofing waterproofing for SHINGLAS, however, other materials with similar properties can be used.

In the valley, the self-adhesive underlay should be 1 m wide (half a meter on each side of the valley axis).

It is advisable to lay the lining material in the valley end-to-end, that is, without overlaps. Alternative option - installation with an overlap of 300 mm with reliable gluing of seams.

At the eaves of the roof, the self-adhesive carpet is fixed as shown in fig. 7. It covers the part of the cornice protruding beyond the wall line, as well as at least 60 centimeters up the slope. Waterproofing, mounted in this way, avoids leaks near eaves during sudden temperature fluctuations, melting snow on the roof, heavy precipitation and other problems with temperature and humidity in the under-roof space.

At the eaves overhang, the lower edge of the lining material should be 20-30 millimeters from the fold of the metal eaves strip.

The mechanically fixed underlay is mounted on the slope from the eaves to the ridge (that is, from the bottom up) with an overlap of adjacent sheets in both the longitudinal and transverse directions. For ANDEREP materials from TechnoNICOL, the longitudinal overlap is 10 cm, and the transverse overlap is 15 cm.

If BiCARD underlays and their organic counterparts are used, the amount of overlap depends on the slope of the roof slopes. If the slope of the slopes is less than 30 degrees, then an overlap of at least 60 cm is required.With a more significant slope of the slope, an overlap of 10 cm is sufficient.

During installation, the sheets of the lining material are rolled out parallel to the eaves of the roof and fixed to the solid flooring with roofing nails in increments of 20-25 centimeters. The joints of the canvases should be glued with FIXER mastic, applying it in the place of the overlap with a layer of 200-300 millimeters wide.

In areas with moderate temperature drops and relatively low rainfall (Central, North-West, Volga, South and North Caucasian federal districts), it is possible to reduce the consumption of lining materials. When using Shinglas with a Beaver Tail, Sonata, Trio or Accord cut, it is allowed to mount the underlayment only along the perimeter of the roof (in strips of 50 cm), along eaves and in valleys, as well as in other places where there is a high risk of leakage - for example, near roof windows and through exits through the roof (ventilation shafts, chimneys, communications). However, this reduces the warranty period for the soft roof.

Outside the listed federal districts, this condition does not apply and the laying of lining materials over the entire area of the slopes is mandatory.

Strengthening the gable overhang

To strengthen the gable overhang, metal gable strips are used. They are fastened over the underlay with nails as shown in fig. 9. Galvanized roofing nails are driven in at a distance of 12-15 centimeters in a checkerboard pattern.

Adjacent pediment strips are laid with an overlap of 3-5 cm. In this place, the distance between the nails should be no more than 2-3 centimeters.

Immediately before the installation of the tile sheets suitable for the pediment, the end strip is coated with FIXER mastic, and the upper corner of the sheet is trimmed.

Preparing the valley

There are two methods of installing Shinglas shingles in the valley. The SHINGLAS open method requires the use of a valley carpet, while the undercut method does not require it.

The carpet for the TechnoNICOL valley is laid on top of a self-adhesive backing material already installed in the valley during the complete or partial waterproofing of the slopes (see above the section "Installation of waterproofing materials"). The carpet laying pattern is shown in fig. 10. The valley carpet is mounted along its axis, indicated by the number 1, with a horizontal offset of 20-30 millimeters. On the underside, the carpet for the valley must be coated with FIXER mastic, with a layer 100 mm wide around the entire perimeter.

In addition to a special carpet, for the open method of laying shingles in the valley, a steel sheet with a surface that is resistant to corrosion can be used. Metal sheet instead of valley carpet is the most suitable option for regions with long and hot summers.

A special carpet or steel sheet is nailed with nails with a gap of 200-250 mm and an indent from the edge of the valley by 20-30 mm on each side.

It is best to lay the sheets of waterproofing material end-to-end so that the carpet turns out to be solid. If this is not possible, then installation of the carpet with a 30-centimeter overlap is allowed. Seams in overlap areas should be carefully glued.

If this method is used, neither valley carpet nor sheet metal is required. The installation of shingles by the undercut method itself is discussed in the instructions below.

Ramp marking

For correct installation Shinglas is recommended to be applied to the flooring, which serves as the basis for shingles, marking lines. They serve as a guiding function. Vertical lines are spaced from each other by the width of one sheet of tiles, and horizontal lines are spaced five rows apart (see figure).

The scribe lines also serve to align the sheets, but are not a guide for nailing them. The shingles should be fixed according to the scheme given in the next section of the instructions.

Installation of SHINGLAS shingles

Shinglas Installation Tips

Shinglas with different color codes cannot be used on the roof of the same building.

Mixing shingles from 5-6 packs will help to avoid visible differences in the color shades of different parts of the roof covering (if this is not done, then a subtle difference in color shades may be discernible on the finished roof).

In cold weather (at outdoor temperatures below 5-10 degrees), Shinglas must be stored in a warm place for at least 24 hours before installation. The temperature in the room should be at least 20 degrees, and no more than 5-6 packages should be taken out into the cold at a time. The following packages can only be delivered to the roof after the previous tiles have been installed.

Self-adhesive strips on shingles of shingles need to be warmed up in cold weather. For this purpose, a building hair dryer is used.

Fastening of ordinary tiles

Fig. 12 (diagram of fastening sheets with nails)

Roof tiles are attached to the continuous deck with corrosion-resistant roofing nails. These nails with a wide head are driven in in such a way that the head does not go deep into the surface of the shingle sheet either directly or obliquely. The bottom edge of the cap must be exactly in line with the surface of the shingles (see top illustration in Fig. 12).

The required number of nails depends on the angle of inclination of the ramps, as well as on the SHINGLAS collection and the tile cut shape. Recommended nail positions for different Shinglas series are shown in fig. 12.

Important: flexible shingles of the JAZZ and COUNTRY series are mounted with an overlap, therefore, at the junction, two adjacent sheets are fixed with one nail. To correctly determine the place of fixation, you should be guided by the assembly line that is present on the outer surface of the tiles of these series (this line is applied during the manufacture of the roofing material).

Only long nails with a wide head (4.5 centimeters long) are suitable for fastening the roofing sheets of the CONTINENT series.

Installation of the starting strip

The starting strip material is selected depending on the SHINGLAS series. In some collections, ridge-eaves tiles are used for this purpose, while in others, standard ordinary tiles are used.

The universal ridge-eaves tile does not require cutting and is laid with the adhesive side downwards on top of the waterproofing lining material with an indent from the fold of the eaves strip by 10-20 millimeters. The longer the roof slope and the greater the angle of its inclination, the wider this indent should be.

A starter strip for Shinglas with a cut shape of the Chord, Beaver Tail, Sonata or Trio is made from ordinary tile sheets from which the petals are cut. On the underside, the entire surface of the strip, with the exception of the adhesive layer, is covered with a layer of mastic, after which it is glued in exactly the same way as described above.

For soft roofs with Continent and Dragontooth grooves, the starting strip is made from shingles of ordinary tiles without cutting off the petals.

Laying the first and next rows of Shinglas

It is recommended to lay sheets of soft roofing starting from the middle of the slope. This makes it easier to align the shingles, especially on long slopes. The first row of shingles starts from the starting strip with a gap of 10-20 millimeters between it and the bottom edge of the roofing sheets.

The next rows are laid from bottom to top diagonally.

The features of the installation of ordinary tiles, depending on the cut shape, are shown in Fig. 14 and 15.

Western and Sonata

The second row fits from the middle of the slope with a shift to one side or the other by the width of half a petal. You can mount from the center of the slope in any direction - to the right or to the left.

The lower edge of the petals, after the second row of shingles has been nailed, should match the upper edge of the cutouts in the previous row.

In the same way, with a half-petal shift and alignment along the cutouts of the previous row, the third row of shingles and all subsequent ones are laid.

In fig. 16 shows a variant of installation of Shinglas shingles from the middle of the slope in strips, and Fig. 17 - in the form of a pyramid.

Heavy rain or slanting rain increases the risk of moisture leaking along the edge of the roof. To avoid this, it is advisable to glue Shinglas shingles along the roof edge with FIXER mastic to a width of 100 millimeters.

At the pediment, the corners of the shingles suitable for the end plate must be cut, as indicated above, in Fig. 9. This is done to organize the correct flow of water from the roof.

Shinglas series COUNTRY, RANCHO and JAZZ has a number of features. The shingles of these collections are stacked not with an equal offset between the rows, but with an arbitrary offset from 150 to 850 millimeters. The shift must constantly change so that the result is an abstract pattern on the roof.

The device of the valley

Open method of laying tiles in the valley

Ordinary sheets of a soft roof are mounted in random order from the edge of the valley to its axis (Fig. 18, mark 1). The shingles are laid directly on the TechnoNICOL valley waterproofing carpet or metal sheet and brought to the undercut line, indicated in the figure by number 3.

Each roofing sheet from above, in addition to the usual fixation, is attached with additional nails. However, these nails must not be driven closer than 300 millimeters from the valley axis (Fig. 18, 2).

When the shingles in the valley are laid, lines are drawn on its surface on both sides of the axis with the help of coated skipping, along which the excess shingles are cut off. When cutting shingles, be sure to use a board to avoid damaging the waterproofing in the valley.

Each sheet of soft roofing in the valley must be cut to drain water and covered from the inside with adhesive mastic to a width of 100 millimeters (where there is no self-adhesive strip, see Fig. 18, 5).

If the roof slopes are not the same in area, configuration and angle of inclination, different volumes of water can flow into the valley from them. In this case, the valley gutter should be shifted to the side from which the water flow is less. This displacement compensates for the erosion at the junction of the waterproofing carpet and the tile covering in the valley.

The valley gutter can have different widths - in the range from 50 to 150 millimeters. If the house is located in a forest or under the crowns of tall trees, the gutter should be wider to make it easier to clear it of falling branches and leaves.

When using this method, the roofing is mounted from the side of the slope with a smaller angle of inclination towards the axis of the valley and then with an overlap on the other slope. The overlap is at least 300 millimeters wide from the centerline towards the steeper slope.

The shinglas in the valley is fixed in the same way as in the open method - with additional nails on the upper side of the sheets, but not closer than 30 centimeters from the center line (Fig. 19, marks 1 and 2).

When the laying of the tiles on a slope with a smaller angle of inclination is completed, one undercut line is drawn with the help of a coated skipping - 70-80 millimeters from the axis of the valley on the second slope (the slope of which is greater). This line is marked in Fig. 19 with number 3.

Further along this line, the tiles mounted in the valley from the side of the slope with a greater steepness are trimmed. As with the open method, the roofing sheets in the valley should be covered with mastic from the inside and cut to drain the water, as shown in fig. 19, label 4.

Slope intersections (ribs and ridge)

Roof slopes intersect at the top roof structureforming a skate. A roof of a complex configuration can also have lateral intersections of the slopes, which are usually called ribs. The installation of the ridge and ribs (ridges) of the roof is carried out in a similar way, but the installation methods may differ depending on the SHINGLAS series and the cut shape of the shingles.

The complete set of a number of SHINGLAS collections includes universal ridge-eaves tile. It can be divided along the perforation lines, obtaining individual elements for starter strips on eaves, for a ridge and for other purposes.

In this case, we are interested in ridge tiles. After dividing the universal sheet into three parts, a ready-made element for the installation of skates and ribs is obtained, compatible with SHINGLAS shingles such as Accord, Western, Dragon's Tooth, Sonata and Continent.

Edge. Shingles of shingles that overlap on both sides of the rib must be trimmed so that there is a gap of 50 millimeters between them. Coated skipping draws lines at an equal distance from the ridge on both sides of its middle. The ridge tiles are laid along these lines. Installation is carried out from the bottom up, with fastening of each sheet of the ridge tile with roofing nails - 2 on both sides, that is, 4 per sheet.

The ridge tile is laid along the edge of the roof with an overlap of 30-50 millimeters - so that the top sheet covers the nail heads that fix the previous one.

Skate. On the ridge of the roof, the installation of sheets of ridge tiles is carried out in almost the same way as on the edge, with the difference that the installation is carried out in a horizontal plane. Installation should start from the side opposite to the most typical wind direction in the area where the building is located.

For grooved shingles such as Beaver's Tail, Dragon's Tooth, Sonata and Trio, ridge shingles can be made from standard roofing sheets. The pattern for cutting and folding the sheets is shown in Fig. 20.

Please note that in the Sonata cut shape, the location of the visible part (A) and the hidden part (B) is different from the rest of the options.

The inner side of the ridge shingles made of ordinary SHINGLAS shingles, when installed on the ribs and ridge of the roof, must be covered from the inside with FIXER mastic - everywhere except for self-adhesive strips. In addition, installation is no different from the installation of universal ridge-cornice tiles.

Important: at low air temperatures, it is advisable to bend the ridge and rib elements of some SHINGLAS collections on a special heated metal pipe. The pipe diameter should be about 100 millimeters.

The soft roof from the collections of Rancho, Country and Jazz should not be bent at all except on a heated pipe.

Shinglas type Finnish Tiles and Classic are advised by experts to bend using a heated metal pipe at an air temperature below plus 5 degrees.

Mounting Shinglas on conical and domed roofs

One of the advantages of a soft roof is the ability to easily mount it on a roof with a curved surface.

There are two main options for installing Shinglas shingles on this type of roof.

The first one is segmental. This method involves dividing a dome or tapered roof into separate segments that can be covered with ordinary tiles. And between the segments, the ridge tiles are laid - in the same way as on the ridges of a conventional roof.

The area of each segment depends on the configuration of the dome or cone.

  1. Metal tip (mounted after the roofing has been laid).
  2. Ramp marking.
  3. A whole petal of shingles.
  4. Half a petal.
  5. Lining waterproofing material.

According to Westmet engineers, the seamless method of installing shingles on curved surfaces (Fig. 21) is the most effective and attractive from an aesthetic point of view, but at the same time it is especially difficult.

On the base of the roof, it is necessary to draw lines spaced from each other by half the width of the petal of the selected type of shingles. These lines converge at the top of a cone or dome.

The shingles of the shingles must be divided into individual petals and formed into the first row of roofing in accordance with the markings.

The next row is mounted with a half-petal shift with shingles trimming when going beyond the marking lines. If the next row cannot be laid out with whole petals, petals, divided in half, are used (Fig. 21 - a row of whole petals is marked with number 3, a row of cut petals is marked with number 4).

In the upper part, the cone or dome is closed with a metal cap (if necessary, decorative elements can be installed, depending on the wishes of the owner or the purpose of the public building).

Adjacency to vertical surfaces

The adjoining of the roof covering to walls, chimneys and other vertical surfaces requires special attention. The correct arrangement of abutments minimizes the risk of leaks in these weak points.

Along the joint line, and in the case of chimneys and ventilation shafts, a triangular strip or plinth is installed along the perimeter. The best fit is a 5 by 5 centimeters cut diagonally sawn timber.

In fig. 22 triangular strip is marked with 1.

Shinglas shingles, suitable for the abutment, are laid on top of the triangular batten.

In order to provide waterproofing of the junction, a carpet for the valley from TechnoNICOL is used (fig. 22, 5). Strips of at least 50 centimeters wide are cut out of it, and long enough to cover the entire joint line or perimeter.

The waterproofing carpet is laid on a vertical surface at least 30 centimeters. If the climatic conditions of the region suggest a high level of atmospheric precipitation in winter (and, accordingly, a significant accumulation of snow on the roof), then it is recommended to make a wider pattern and raise the waterproofing strip even higher.

If the wall, chimney, ventilation shaft or other vertical surface at the junction is built of brick, then even before the start roofing works it must be plastered and, if necessary, primed (primed).

In the upper part, the junction is covered with a metal apron (Fig. 22, 2) and treated with a sealant.

Patterns for abutting SHINGLAS shingles to chimneys and ventilation shafts can be made from either TechnoNICOL valley carpet (Fig. 23) or from a metal sheet with a protective coating (Fig. 24).

Behind the pipes, the cross section of which is more than half a meter, a groove should be arranged in order to avoid excessive accumulation of snow.

If the roof slope is adjacent to the wall, it is necessary to mount a storm guard on its lower edge, as shown in fig. 26.

If the roof slope ends in abutment to the wall, at the end of the roof slope, a metal storm baffle with a corrosion-resistant coating should be installed (Fig. 26). The bump stop is made of metal that is resistant to corrosion.

Arrangement of roof penetrations

The holes passing through the roof for the outlet of pipes, antennas, wires and other communications to the roof are sealed in the lower part using pass-through elements specially designed for this purpose.

The pass-throughs are attached to the base with roofing nails. The shingles are laid over the passage, then cut and attached to the flange with adhesive mastic. After that, you can install the required roof outlet in this place.

Ventilation outlets are produced in two versions. Insulated exits can be used on the roof of buildings that are used for residential or other use all year round, including in winter. Thanks to the polyurethane insulation, condensation never freezes in them.

Non-insulated exits are intended mainly for warm regions, as well as for buildings and structures that are used mainly in the warm season.

Decorative caps improve the appearance of the ventilation outlets. Moreover, their use does not affect functional characteristics ventilation system. Even if water, leaves and small debris enter the hood, and through it into the outlet, they are easily discharged into the sewer system.

On the other hand, it is undesirable to equip outlets intended for improved ventilation of the sewage system itself. During the cold period, due to the high humidity of the vapors, condensate can accumulate and freeze in the hood.

Soft tiles give any home a completely different look: the structure becomes beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. Tiles always look noble, which cannot be said about the widespread asbestos-cement sheet (popularly called slate), it is more solid, and gives the house a certain kind of prosperity.

Of course, it is not only from the use of a soft roof that the house acquires this eye-catching appearance. An important role in such cases is played by both the manufacturer and the skill of the workers performing the installation. But the services of workers require additional money, and their cost can often even be equal to the cost of the roof itself.

That is why many people, when purchasing a soft roof, tend to install it on their own, without any help from installation companies. This, of course, requires certain skills, without which the installation of a Shinglas soft roof is simply not possible. But if you already have experience construction works, it is enough to watch the video, which will show the features of laying tiles of this type (and there are a lot of such videos on the Runet), and also read the instructions, which we will try to present as briefly and at the same time fully.

Installation of the roof is best done in dry and warm seasons. Many people expect that they will cope in one daylight hours, but there are different cases, circumstances develop in different ways, and it may well happen that instead of the expected day, the installation will take about a week. This is why it's best to know your long-term weather forecast in advance so that rain, hail, or storm warnings don't catch you off guard.

There can be no question of styling in winter. Unless you live in southern Italy, and you are not embarrassed by the piercing wind at 25 degrees Celsius. In the conditions of Russia, such a global depressurization of a home in frosts is highly discouraged.

Shinglas produces a wide variety of types of soft roofs, we will list the main ones here:

  1. Rancho double layer laminated roof tile.
  2. Two-layer laminated roof tiles Country.
  3. Two-layer laminated tile Jazz.
  4. Western double layer laminated roof tile.
  5. Three-layer laminated roof tiles Continent.
  6. Other.

More details can be found directly on the Shinglas website or in the online store selling this type of roof. The differences in it are insignificant, and more affect the appearance than the quality of building materials. One package contains enough roofing to cover two square meters, so based on this figure and the size of the roof, you can accurately calculate how many packs of soft roof you need.

You should not save, and it is better to use a soft roof. Although the ease of installation makes the price for 1 sq. m. acceptable for average income. Today we will consider Shinglas roofing, laying technology, properties, pros and cons. Most importantly, the service life of this coating is about 60 years, of course, subject to technology.

  • ANDEREP GL - the principle of design and structure is the same as for soft tiles, it is fixed in the same way mechanically, and does not require the use of mastics to seal the joints. They are used mainly for soft tiles.
  1. Roofing nails. This is a steel fastener, covered with stainless steel on top, the diameter of the nail head is at least 9 mm. And also the diameter of the rod is not less than 3 mm. Consumption of fasteners per 1 sq. m is 80 gr.

And now we will tell you why we chose Shinglas tiles.

Because both the tiles and all auxiliary materials and components are made by one manufacturer Techno Nicole and can be bought in one place. Which is very convenient and saves a lot of time.

Installation of flexible shingles Shinglas

As we all understand, installation consists of many stages. The initial stage is creation

Bases for laying

It should start with the fact that work should be carried out in a warm, rainless season.

We attach a membrane film to the rafters, which will protect the insulation from moisture.

We fix the film with a counter batten.

Insulation is placed on the underside of the membrane between the rafters. We fasten the counter batten on the counter batten with a step of 20 cm.

We choose the best option as a base, this is OSB-3 (oriented strand board), but plywood and other building materials can also be used.

It should be fixed in the form brickworkusing nails and screws. The seam between the boards must be left 3-4 mm. for thermal expansion.

When you use shingles from the Western and Continent collection, the base should be at least 12 mm thick. For other collections, 9 mm is sufficient.

Underlay laying technology

We examined the types of the lining option above, it should be noted that the self-adhesive ANDEREP lining layer is used for the valley area, it is advisable to use one roll for the entire length, but if this does not work out, then the overlap should be at least 30 cm and do not forget to carefully glue the joint ... The width of the backing carpet should be 1 m, 50 cm from each edge.

The self-adhesive ANDEREP material is also used in the area of the eaves.

The material is laid on the very width of the eaves, as well as about 60 cm inside the building.

This installation method prevents water ingress.

The entire remaining surface of the roof is covered with a lining material with mechanical fastening. Laying can be done both longitudinally and transversely. From bottom to top, in the longitudinal method, an overlap of at least 10 cm. Parallel to the eaves, an overlap of at least 15 cm. With any method, the joints must be processed with a Fixer for the entire width. The underlay is attached to the roof surface with roofing fasteners.

It should be noted here that after the backing material is attached, the markings are applied. The markings allow you to lay smoothly soft tiles, both vertically and horizontally, but this does not mean that you need to nail the tiles along these lines. It's just that vertically the strip is equal to the width of the tile itself, and horizontally every five rows minus 80 cm.

Shinglas shingles installation technology

We fix the starting strip, this is where it starts. You can use a special ridge-eaves tile or the tile itself, only after cutting off the petals.

We retreat about two centimeters from the edge of the roof and glue it over the backing layer and nail it down.

After that, we begin the installation of the initial row, experts recommend starting from the center of the roof and unforgettable, retreating 2 cm from the edge of the starting layer.

The next layer is mounted in the same way from the center, but shifting to the left or right by half of the petal. So we continue to glue and nail the tiles on each subsequent row, and do not forget to shift.

The shingles in each pack may have a slightly different shade, so several packs should be mixed. The tiles are nailed down with galvanized nails, the main thing is that the caps are in the same plane with the roof surface.

For different shapes shingles varying number of fasteners and fastening method.

So for the Dragon's Tooth, the place where the two layers of tiles overlap is simultaneously fastened with a nail to make it easier to hammer, the manufacturer marks the front surface of the roof with a thin line.

The Continent collection should only be fixed with nails 45 mm long.

The edge of the shingles along the edge of the roof should be impregnated to a depth of about 100 mm this protects the roof from side rain. It is recommended to warm the adhesive layer with a building hair dryer.

We bring the top row to the ridge and cut it by 2-3 cm, to the edge of the metal bar, to beat off the water. On the other side of the roof, the sequence is the same. Ridge tiles are also used for arranging ribs. Near the ribs and slopes, the coating is cut so that a gap of about 50 mm remains. Ridge tiles, stacked from bottom to top, with an overlap of about 5 cm. Fastening is done with nails 2 pcs. from each side. plaster and primer. On top of a row of tiles, a ridge is laid.

With an overlap on the prepared wall, but not less than 300 mm.

We carefully process all joints, seams and surfaces.

Roofing maintenance

As with any type of coating, shinglas tiles require maintenance and repair.

  1. It is worth checking every fall and spring.
  2. Use only soft brushes when removing branches and leaves.
  3. Periodically clean out debris from gutters.
  4. If a large layer of snow accumulates in winter, it must be removed in layers. You can only use a wooden shovel. Professionals recommend leaving 5-8 cm of snow as a protective layer.

If the roofing is damaged, it can be repaired.

  1. Eliminate the cause of the damage.
  2. Dismantle the old section, damaged shingles.
  3. Carry out the installation of a new coverage area using a hair dryer and bridges.
