When choosing interior doors, the main thing you need to pay attention to is their dimensions. Indeed, in order to perform their functions, they must clearly stand in the opening, or in other words, have suitable parameters for width, height and thickness. Uniform established standards that all manufacturers must adhere to are not defined. But there are building codes, based on which doorways are made. Therefore, the width, height and thickness of the door directly depends on these indicators for the doorway.

Canvas dimensions

Based on the dimensions of the doorway, the standard width of the finished door of domestic manufacturers can be in the range from 550 to 900 mm. European products can be 600, 700, 800 or 900 mm wide.

IN apartment buildings, as a rule, the size of the opening, and hence the door, differs depending on the purpose of the room.

 • A width of 550-600 mm is usually made for the door to the toilet and bathroom.
 • An opening of 700 mm is constructed at the entrance to the kitchen.
 • Doors of 800 mm separate the living quarters.
 • A canvas with a width of 900 mm is often installed as a second door at the entrance.

The most common thickness modern doors may lie within 35-40 mm. But deviations are possible both in one direction and in the other. It is influenced by the types of products and the material from which they are made. So, the thickness of sliding structures can be only 20 mm. And canvases made of wood can reach up to 50 mm.

The height of the door a few decades ago could have two values: 1.9 or 2 meters. Today, due to the use various styles And design solutions, the parameters offered by manufacturers can reach 2.1 and even 2.3 meters. Our height standards are 2 meters, and in Europe 2.1. It should be noted that in recent years, designers and builders are increasingly relying on foreign standards.

Box dimensions

Doors can be sold with or without a finished frame and fittings. It is a U-shaped structure and is mounted around the perimeter of the opening, helping to fix the canvas with fittings. Standard sizes door frames for interior doors will differ from each other, and depend on the size door leaf. Therefore, it is better to buy a complete door with a ready-made box, fittings and platbands.

The door frame is made of bars, which may differ in parameters. Their width varies between 15 and 40 mm, but values of 30-35 mm are considered optimal. If they are observed, the reliability of the entire structure and a long service life are ensured.

The thickness of the box must match the thickness of the wall. This value is important because it should not exceed the width of the opening into which the installation will be made. For brick walls the standard thickness is 75 mm, and for wooden ones - 100. If the structure is narrower, then special additional elements will need to be used. And the box, which is larger than the wall, cannot be neatly and securely fixed.

When assembling the box manually, to determine the size of the vertical racks, the height of the web and the thickness of the horizontal bar, the mounting gap and the size of the ventilation slot or threshold are taken into account. The size of the horizontal part is determined based on the width of the door.

Opening dimensions

Knowing the standard dimensions of interior doors with a frame and fittings, you can easily determine the width of the opening during the construction of walls and the construction of partitions. To do this, double the width is added to the width of the web. door frame interior door and the size of the mounting gap on both sides. It is usually 15 mm. For example, 800+30*2+15*2=890 mm.

Height is calculated in a similar way. For a door without a threshold, it will be 2000 + 30 + 15 + 5 = 2050, where 5 is the value of the required gap at the bottom between the leaf and the floor for air exchange. If necessary, it can be increased up to 10 mm. And if the house is supplied with liquefied gas, then the gap should be at least 15-20 mm to ensure good ventilation. If your door has a threshold, then the height of the opening is determined by adding the height of the threshold to the size of the door leaf, the width of the frame and the mounting seam.

And vice versa, knowing the standards, it is easy to calculate the width of the door leaf for existing openings. For example, for an opening of 900 mm, a door of 800 mm is needed. It is calculated as follows: 900-15*2-30*2=810 mm. And the extra 10 mm will be successfully hidden under the trim.

When calculating the dimensions, it is advisable to add the size of the gap, which is recommended to be left between the box and the door leaf. But since it is only 1-2 mm, it can be ignored in rough calculations.

Double doors

The above values are applicable to single leaf constructions. Double-leaf interior doors are often installed at the entrance to the living room. Their standard width varies from 1 to 1.4 meters. At the same time, double-leaf types of doors can have different or identical sizes of individual halves. For example, a product with a width of 1400 mm may consist of two parts of 700 mm or one 600 and the second 800 mm.

Doors with hidden frame

Interior doors with a hidden frame have a number of advantages over conventional ones. But the price of such structures is much higher. The same applies to the requirements for the size of the finished opening.

The dimensions of the opening must strictly comply with the requirements of the door manufacturer. The wall must be vertically level. A deviation of only 1 mm per meter of height is allowed. Wall thickness should not exceed 80 mm. Optimal value the width of the mounting gap is 17-20 mm plus/minus 10 mm. In some models of products with a hidden box, deviations are not allowed at all. The gap under the canvas should ideally be equal to 4.

Doors to order

The variety of dimensions of interior doors with a frame and fittings offered by manufacturers is very large. But, despite this, there are often situations when none of the produced sizes fits an existing opening. In this case, you can either adjust it so that the width and height decrease or increase to the desired, or order doors of non-standard parameters.

Making doors to order is much more expensive than buying ready-made products. But such a step will allow to realize non-standard ideas.

For interior decoration great importance playing interior doors. A door is a kind of “barrier” that allows you to distinguish one room from another. In this case, the width of the door frame must be chosen correctly so that there are no obstacles when moving a person, moving furniture and other objects.

With, the width can be selected in standard sizes or larger / smaller, taking into account the purpose of the room and the desire of its owner. For houses and apartments, it is recommended to make room openings smaller than for entering a dwelling.

The standard size for the width of the entrance door leaf is chosen more than 800 millimeters. Interior doors have a width of 600, 700, 800 millimeters.

Size dependency

Sometimes the owners specifically expand the opening to 900 millimeters.

Tip: When designing and installing a passage in a room, it should be borne in mind that it is very difficult to bring large furniture into a passage 600 millimeters wide. The optimal value is 800 millimeters. The same dimensions should be chosen for the bathroom, which will allow you to easily bring washing machine and other large equipment.

Standard dimensions are shown in the table:

The table shows that the canvas is selected at least 7 cm less than the doorway. But, the thickness of the door frame should also be taken into account.

So, for example, if the thickness is 30 millimeters, which corresponds to the minimum size, it is enough to increase the width of the opening by only 6 centimeters. But for veneered or telescopic boxes, this will not be enough. They have a large thickness, plus an additional gap for blowing foam.

Opening measurement

Height measurement

For those who like to do everything with their own hands and reduce the cost of work, a short instruction is offered to help you correctly and quickly measure the doorway:

 • Measurement should be carried out on "bare" walls. To do this, the door leaf and frame are removed before starting work.
 • The distance between the walls is measured in several places: top, bottom and center. The smallest value is recorded.

Tip: If it was not possible to dismantle the elements, it is necessary to measure the first one or the size from the center of one of the platbands to the middle of the other. This will give approximate figures for the size of the opening.

Width measurement

 • The distance from the lowest point of the floor to the top of the opening is measured. or the gap between the floor and the center of the casing is calculated if the box could not be removed.

Measurement scheme

 • The depth of the opening is equal to the width of the wall. Therefore, the width of each wall is measured: on both sides of the opening and from above, or the thickness of the door frame is measured, the wall protruding beyond it, if any, is added to it.

Size calculation

After taking measurements, you can correctly calculate the size of the door leaf.

This takes into account:

 • The height of the door leaf and its width.
 • Thickness and width of the door frame.
 • Platband width.
 • If there is a threshold, its dimensions.

For example, a calculation is taken for a door leaf with dimensions:

 • Height - 2 meters.
 • Width - 80 centimeters.
 • The thickness of the door frame is 25 millimeters.

When calculating the dimensions, it is necessary to add the thickness of the box on both sides to the width. In addition, the calculation takes into account mounting gaps on each side, approximately 15-20 millimeters.

In this case, the width will be equal to: 800 + 25 + 25 + 15 + 15 = 880 millimeters. An example for counting is shown in the photo.

Width calculation scheme

This width is almost perfect option for manufacturers of interior doors. Doors are easily mounted in the standard sizes of apertures of premises.

The height is calculated in a similar way, taking into account mounting clearances and the presence of a threshold. The height of the doorway will be: 2000+25+10+15=2050 millimeters.

As a result, for a door leaf with dimensions of 2 x 0.8 meters, the opening in the wall is 2.05 x 0.88.

What is the thickness of the door frames? Usually the standard size is 75 millimeters. This must be taken into account when installing the door.

Otherwise, you will need to use a box expander or saw it off lengthwise. In this case, problems may arise during the subsequent installation of platbands, which will lead to damage appearance doors.

To determine the parameters of the wall, it is necessary to measure its thickness from all sides in three places. If the parameters along the perimeter of the doorway are the same, products with non-standard sizes are ordered. With different thicknesses at these points, a door frame is sawn or an extension is placed.

Watching the video in this article will allow you to correctly calculate the opening for installing the door leaf, taking into account the style, material characteristics, and operating conditions.

The purpose of the additional element

The additional element is a bar that is used to expand the beam of the used box for the opening.

It is used to cover a section of the wall that is not hidden by the box beam. The width of the required extension is calculated by measuring the thickness of the wall in the doorway, and the width of the box beam is subtracted from the resulting value.

The standard width of the interior door frame is 7 centimeters. With a thicker wall, the installation of extensions is required. An exception is the use of "L" shaped platbands.

Tip: When purchasing doors, you must take into account the largest size of the wall thickness at the opening. Otherwise, the box will be less than the width of the wall. In this case, the platband will not fit tightly on the wall and the box.

If such a defect is obtained, it is necessary to use alabaster or gypsum mortar to cover the gap.

The width of the extension is acquired equal to or greater than the part of the wall to be closed. For example, with a wall width of 12 centimeters, and boxes of 8, an addition of at least 4 is required.

Dobor features

Before mounting the strips on the door frame, you should get acquainted with the advantages of their installation:

 • High speed of installation of the block for doors extended by extensions.
 • There are no "wet" finishing processes that are unfavorable for wood.
 • A long period between regular repairs.
 • Aesthetics that ensures integrity and beautiful view door structure.
 • Small price of planks.

The three components of the expander-dobor, assembled into a single whole, resemble the letter P, you can fasten it:

 • Straight to the door frame.
 • To the wall, at the location of the opening.
 • On the mounting bar placed between the extensions and vertical planes opening.

In the absence of a special mechanical load on the extensions, only liquid nails can be used for fixing in a specially made recess. But more often, galvanized self-tapping screws are used for installation.

Tip: If fixing is performed from the front side, it is necessary to hide the fastener caps with mastics or plugs matched to the tone of the box.

Types of extensions

For home improvement, you can purchase doors:

 • With boxes in which a groove was pre-selected on the outside for proper alignment with the extensions.

To do this, you can use chipboard or wooden planks, one centimeter thick. The width of the slats-panels is measured with a box mounted in the opening, which will be the basis of the structure. In this case, the element is nailed on the back side of the opening with galvanized small carnations in increments of 20 to 35 centimeters. You can insert the strips into the recess, and then fix them in the opening of the box with glue.

 • Without groove with box beam. In this case, you can:
 1. choose a groove with a machine with a special straight cutter yourself;
 2. attach the extensions to the box beam through pre-drilled through screws from the end of the element;

Tip: For attaching additional strips to the box, the diameter of the through holes along the entire length is not the same. First, the drill is taken with a diameter equal to the head of the self-tapping screw, then according to the size of its trunk.

 1. additional elements are installed on the bars, screwed with screws to the wall. The first of them is located 200 millimeters from the floor, and then in increments of 60 centimeters;
 2. extensions with a box "sit down" inside the base of plywood or drywall;
 3. a box beam without a groove is connected to the slats by installing a rail that runs from the outside of the opening along the alignment line;
 4. a plywood rail or plank is attached around the perimeter not in a continuous strip, but in separate segments.

A bar and trim strips are nailed to the rail. In this case, the central axis of the rail and the connection line must coincide or have a slight offset.

After assembly, the extreme line of the extensions is flush with the opening. Excesses up to one millimeter are squeezed off with a planer, and then everything is closed with cash.

Installation of extensions

Usually, the top bar, combined with the lintel, is superimposed on two vertical parts.

To calculate its length, it is necessary to add two thicknesses of additional racks to the size of the lintel. But you can put a bar between them. In this case, the length of the ceiling extension is selected according to the width of the box, and the thickness of the upper bar is added to the heights of the left and right vertical elements.

Mounting order:

 • With scrupulous accuracy, measurements are taken according to the scheme that corresponds to the chosen method of fastening.

Tip: For the right and left extension, the vertical size is measured separately. In this case, the inner line of the future plank should be measured along the box, and the outer line in the opening in fact.

 • The board is cut according to measurements and according to the construction scheme.
 • All three additional elements are attached to the assembled door frame.
 • When attaching planks to a box not installed in the opening, it is installed together with them.
 • Mounting wedges are located between the wall and the door frame and they are used to align the device in the opening.
 • The mounting gap is blown with foam before the expansion wedges are installed, between the box beam and the extensions.
 • Foaming of the entire space is performed in portions, at least in two steps. Adjustment of the curing process is controlled while the foam cures.
 • The work is completed by sealing the gap formed between wooden details and floor, and installation of platbands.

Properly executed expansion of the door frame allows you to design any opening quickly and efficiently. This is especially important when it is difficult to find a standard finished design.

In order to bring the production of interior elements to a single standard, they were introduced and approved at state level standard sizes of interior doors. This greatly simplifies the selection of products when they need to be replaced. It is enough to make a correct measurement of the parameters of a typical opening and buy a suitable model.

If there are no problems with domestic products, then when buying an imported interior door, a difficult situation may arise, since there is a different standard in foreign countries. In addition, when buying alternative types of doors (double-leaf, sliding, hidden), you need to know some of their design features.

State standards

There are certain approved state standards (GOST), according to which domestic manufacturers produce interior interior elements. These are GOST 6629-88, as well as SNiPs 21-7, 21-8, 21-9, 21-10, 21-13. For ease of review, these data are summarized in a table that displays the most common standards:

If the choice fell on a product of imported origin, then the dimensions of the interior door can be checked for compliance with European standards DIN 18100-18102, as well as DIN4172, indicating the dimensions of the opening in the light:

These dimensions must be taken into account if you plan to order, for example, an Italian door. Most likely, imported models will have non-standard dimensions, which should be taken into account when laying doorways in the construction planning process or overhaul.

For doorways in height exceeding 2000-2040 mm, its own standards have been developed, indicated in the table below.

In developing state standards takes into account the needs of the main segment of the population living in standard buildings. In the choice of typical models of one size or another, its functional purpose also plays an important role. In other words, the place in the apartment where this product will be located is important. In accordance with this requirement, the dimensions of the canvas, design features, and equipment with special fittings are selected.

The nuances of the correct measurement of the opening

In some cases, it becomes necessary to independently measure the parameters for the purchase of an interior door. This happens if the house or apartment is located at a great distance from the manufacturing company, in another city or in another state. Self-measurement is also carried out in cases where there is no time to wait for the measurer's visit, or it is more convenient for the customer to take measurements on their own. Regardless of the reason, this event must be carried out as accurately as possible so that the selected model fits perfectly into the existing opening without the need to correct it. This means that the height, width and thickness of the interior door leaf should be as close as possible to the corresponding parameters of the opening. To carry out the correct measurement, you should be guided by the following rules.

Determining the width of the opening.

To do this, measure the distance between the walls at the narrowest point of the opening. If the wall becomes narrower closer to the door, then you need to measure in this part. In the case of a uniform wall width without narrowing, the location of the width measurement is of no fundamental importance. If the previous door has not yet been dismantled, then the measured distance from the middle of one platband to the middle of the opposite platband is the width of the interior doors.

Determining the opening height.

To determine the indicator of this dimension, it is required to measure the distance from the point of the finished floor to the lowest point of the upper part of the opening. If the doorway narrows closer to the hinges, then the measurement should be taken in this area. If the height of the opening is uniform, then the location of the measurement is not critical. The easiest way is to measure the old door, if it has not yet been dismantled. In this case, the height of the interior doors will be equal to the distance from the middle of the upper casing to the zero point of the finished floor.

Determining the depth of the opening.

To do this, it will be necessary to measure the thickness of the wall in which the doorway is located. This will be the depth of the opening. The measurement should be made in three sections: in the upper, middle and lower on both walls. This meticulous event is necessary in order to identify the widest place in the wall. If the old door has not been dismantled, then it is necessary to measure the dimensions of the frame and the wall (thickness) if it protrudes beyond the frame. For the correct measurement of the three key dimensions, it is best to use the services of a professional. Having a body of knowledge, the installer will make an impeccable measurement and give practical recommendations on choosing a typical or non-standard interior door. We remind you that when ordering doors from Porta prima, the visit of the master to measure the dimensions and advice on choosing the door leaf are absolutely free.

Formulas for measuring the door leaf

Often there is such a situation that it is required to make a doorway, and the choice of a canvas model has not yet been made. In this case, to measure the parameters of the opening, the following points must be taken into account:

 • dimensions of the door leaf (width, height, thickness);
 • box dimensions (thickness, width);
 • an indicator of the width of the platbands.

For greater clarity, an example of calculating the dimensions of a doorway will be given.

Let's assume that a standard size door leaf with the following dimensions will be used for installation:

 • Vdv - the height of the door leaf - 2000 mm;
 • Shdv - the standard width of the interior door - 70 0 mm.

With such parameters of the interior product, a box will be installed, the thickness of which (Tk) will be 30 mm. The value of the mounting gap (Mz) in this case will be equal to 10 mm, and the value of the door block (Bd) is equal to 20 mm. With these standard values, the threshold height indicator (Vp) will be 20 mm.

The formula for calculating the width of the opening of the future door:

Opening width = Shdv + 2 × Tk + Mz + 2 × Bd = 700 + 2 × 30 + 10 + 2 × 20 = 810 mm.

The height of the opening is calculated by the following expression:

Opening = Vdv + Vp + 2 × Tk = 2000 + 20 + 2 × 30 = 2080 mm.

Therefore, for an interior door leaf with dimensions of 2000 × 700 mm, it will be necessary to make a doorway of 2080 × 810 mm.

According to the standard of the opening depth of 7.5 mm, the door frame is manufactured. If the thickness of the door leaf of the interior door does not correspond to this indicator, you must either order a box according to individual sizes, or apply in the design of extensions. Therefore, it is recommended to make calculations in advance.

How to calculate if the door will fit in the opening?

A common situation is when standard door to the existing opening. Usually a good clue for choosing is the marking of door products, which indicates the main dimensions.

At this stage, doubts may arise whether the product is suitable and whether additional difficulties will arise in its installation.

To dispel doubts, you need to reason as follows:

 • Let's say we have a doorway of 900 × 2040 mm, which corresponds to the standard.
 • Calculate the width: indicator standard width 800 mm canvases are folded with a box thickness (on both sides) and structural intervals of 15 mm. It should be noted that there is an interval to the left and right of the door, so you need to multiply it by two. When calculating, we get 880 mm.
 • We calculate the height in a similar way. The door leaf height of 2000 mm is added to the frame thickness of 25 mm and the top mounting distance of 15 mm. We get the value of 2040 mm.

Therefore, an interior door with a standard size of 800 × 2000 mm will ideally fit into a typical opening with dimensions of 900 × 2040 mm. This once again proves the need to create state standards in construction industry. You can safely buy a typical product without worrying about whether it will fit.

What to do if the door is selected incorrectly?

However, there are situations when the purchased canvas with a box was chosen inaccurately. When a purchase cannot be returned for an objective reason, you can use some building tricks:

 • when only a few millimeters are missing in the width or height of the doorway, you can carefully cut a wider hole in the wall;
 • if the box is narrower than the thickness of the wall, it is recommended to use an extension that will cover the prominent area of the thickness of the wall;
 • if the thickness of the box is much narrower than the dimensions of the doorway, then along the perimeter of the box (with the exception of the bottom) they are drawn into an even slope;
 • if the above methods are unacceptable, it is recommended to order doors according to individual non-standard parameters.

At Porta prima you can buy quality standard interior doors or order individual design for your project. A wide range, convenient service and unsurpassed high consumer characteristics of the products of our factory have been appreciated by thousands of Muscovites. Prices are reasonable and correspond to the high quality of interior doors.

Door blocks consist of two parts - a canvas and a box. Most of the produced door blocks have standard leaf sizes from 60 to 90 cm. The dimensions of the door frames, regardless of the dimensions of the door leaf, exceed its dimensions by a certain amount. But this figure is not a standard for all models of door blocks and may differ downwards in lighter door frames.

How to measure thickness?

First of all, let's define the terms and agree on what exactly is meant by the thickness of the door frame. Since this size is often confused with the depth of the box, we immediately clarify: take a look at the image below. The thickness of the door frame is the distance equal to the difference between the width of the door frame and the width of the door leaf divided in two. The depth on the diagram is signed as “The size of the wall thickness in the opening” and is 5-7 cm. The minimum depth for standard door frames is 65 mm. The remaining size options are already non-standard dimensions and to order, check their availability at the place of purchase.

Having decided on the concept of thickness, we calculate it for standard door blocks. At generally recognized manufacturers in classic door models, the dimensions of the door frame more sizes canvases by 70 mm both in width and height, if the box is with a threshold. So, for example, for a door leaf 800 mm wide, the frame width will be 870 mm. By these dimensions, it is easy to find out what is the standard thickness of the door frame of interior doors. To do this, we use the formula:

 • Tk = (Shk - Shp) / 2

Where Tk is the thickness of the door frame, Shk is the width of the box, Shp is the width of the leaf

On the example of a door leaf with a width of 800 mm, the calculation will look like this:

 • Tk = (870 mm - 800 mm) / 2 = 35 mm

The resulting value will be standard thickness of the door frame of interior doors, she equal to 35 mm.

There are also lightweight door frames, the dimensions of which differ from the standard ones. The thickness of such a box will be less than 35 mm, and before buying, check with the seller which door you are buying. Recently, door manufacturers have begun to produce more lightweight boxes and there is a possibility that when buying, you can accidentally choose just such a model. The thickness of the timber (or MDF) used for lightweight boxes is 25 mm.

Types of door frames on video

Why else do you need to know the thickness of the box?

It is no coincidence that the thickness of the door frame is 3.5 cm. As we already wrote, the dimensions doorway are also calculated depending on the dimensions of the door leaf and in standard interior openings they are 10 cm more than the width of the canvas. Thus, we get a distance from the canvas to the doorway equal to 5 cm. Here, 3.5 cm of the box thickness and 1.5 cm gap are placed to fix the door frame in the wall using polyurethane foam.

Installation door block(cloth + box) occurs not only on mounting foam. Although each method includes its use, technologies differ in the type of additional fasteners used during installation. Most often, simple wooden spacers or pegs are used, which are inserted into the space between the box and the opening. With their help, the block is aligned in the opening according to the level: each peg is driven in tightly so that the door frame is not deformed, but the entire block is held tightly in the opening. When it is firmly fixed with spacers, a mounting foam is applied to the voids using a special gun. It is also important to install horizontal braces inside the box so that the foam does not later deform the box when it expands.

Thus, we found out that the standard thickness of the door frame of an interior door is 3.5 cm. It is also important to remember that in last years Manufacturers are increasingly producing non-standard boxes. They are also called lightweight and are used in cases where there is a need to install a wider canvas in a small doorway.

During a major renovation, every homeowner will inevitably face the issue of choosing interior doors. Pick up best option designing a door leaf that matches the interior of the room is not difficult - there are many interesting offers from manufacturers on the market. When choosing an interior door, attention should be paid to the dimensions of the door leaf along with the frame. As a guide, you should use the GOST standard, which greatly simplifies both the choice of design and its subsequent installation.

Standard sizes of interior door frames: width, height and thickness

The GOST standard strictly defines the dimensions that the door frame must comply with. Dimensions may vary depending on functional purpose the room for which the interior door is selected.

 1. Width standard box interior door for living rooms is 80 cm. At the same time, the standard thickness of such a doorway into which the box is inserted is from 7 to 20 cm (depending on the type of material from which the house is built).
 2. The width of the door frame of the interior door for the bathroom is 60 cm. At the same time, the standard height of the doorway is from 190 to 200 cm.
 3. The standard width of a modern interior door for the kitchen is 70 cm, and the thickness of the doorway in this case is 7 cm. The height of the opening into which the door frame is inserted is also standard and is 200 cm.

This standard is universal. These dimensions are taken into account by designers when choosing door structures. different type, including if an interior door is planned not of a hinged, but of a sliding type.

Dimensions of interior doors with a frame: width and height for the living room

The living room is the hallmark of the house, so the interior door designed for this room is chosen especially carefully. As a rule, the dimensions of the doorway that meets the standards in this room are slightly wider than the openings in other areas of the house. The same standard is used in the construction of apartment buildings. As a rule, the height of such an opening is from 201 to 205 cm with minor possible deviations. The width that the box must correspond to varies from 128 cm to 160 cm. In most cases, a double-leaf interior door is used to equip such a doorway, the width of each leaf of which is 60 cm. When choosing the size of the wings, the width of the box and the individual preferences of the customer are taken into account . For example, an interior door can consist of two independent leaves, the dimensions of which are exactly the same, for example 60 cm. Or you can order options in which the door leaves different sizes(60 cm and 80 cm). It is worth noting that this block width meets the standards.

The door frame to the living room or to any other room should be slightly smaller than the opening into which it will be mounted. If the width of the opening is standard, then in this case the door frame will be 10-15 mm less from the walls of the opening. This is necessary for the quality installation of the door. It should be noted that regardless of the material from which it is directly made door structure(solid, MDF), the door frame, namely its parameters, remain within the limits determined by GOST.

How to measure interior doors with a frame - width, height and thickness

In order to determine as accurately as possible what width of the door frame corresponds to a certain doorway, it is necessary to correctly measure the dimensions. To determine if the width (thickness) of the doorway is standard, you should use a tape measure and follow the basic recommendations:

 1. First of all, dismantle old box, and the opening itself is prepared for the removal of the necessary parameters - the remains of plaster and mounting foam are removed until the doorway acquires a clear outline.
 2. What width of the opening is determined by taking parameters at three different points - at the bottom, in the middle and at the top.
 3. The length is measured from the top of the opening to the floor. Experienced craftsmen, in order to avoid inconsistencies in the parameters, it is recommended to take height measurements in several places.
 4. The thickness of the wall of the opening into which an interior door made of MDF or solid wood will be mounted is also determined on the basis of taking several measurements - on both sides and the upper part of the opening in which the box will be fixed.

If the width of the doorway to be equipped does not correspond to the standard parameters according to which the selected interior door is made, then in this case the shortcomings must be eliminated. Depending on the situation, a decision is made to adjust the opening for the installation of an interior door. So, for example, if the width of the opening does not match the parameters of the box, then in this case the walls can be cut through (if you need to increase the width) or reduce the opening using an additional layer of plaster or mounting foam. If the interior door is narrower than the thickness of the wall, then in this case it is possible to correct the thickness of the wall with a perforator in accordance with the required parameters.
