Interesting coffee table plastic pipes

Plastic pipes, as a material for making furniture, are good for their availability and low cost. For those who live outside the city or have a summer cottage, the situation is familiar when, after construction, laying communications or organizing drip irrigation, pieces of pipes of different lengths remain. At first glance, they can only be thrown away. This is a very erroneous opinion, because it is from such pieces of different diameters and lengths that many original and useful interior items can be made. It is only necessary to apply a little skill and desire to work with your own hands, imagination.

Choice of construction and design

Glamorous pink plastic tube laptop stand

The manufacture of furniture begins with the choice of design and the variant of its design implementation. It is necessary to build on the function that the furniture will perform. Then select the design parameters:

  • collapsible or solid;
  • dimensions of the entire product;
  • the number of elements and their sizes;
  • method of connecting parts of the structure.

What materials are needed

Necessary materials for creating furniture from PVC pipes

After the design is selected, it is necessary to draw up a list of materials and tools needed to create crafts. For this you may need:

  • plastic pipes;
  • fasteners: glue, screws, self-tapping screws;
  • fitting.

Stages of the plastic pipe welding process

Plastic pipes are easy to cut. After that, a sharp edge with burrs remains, which must be cleaned. Just cut the thread. When heated, polymer pipes bend well, while maintaining new form after cooling down. Sometimes the frame is easier to bend than to assemble with pieces of pipes and fittings.

plastic pipes different shapes and fittings for them

There are several types of plastic pipes. All of them differ in price and ability to withstand various loads and temperature conditions. Knowing the properties of each type of pipe, you can make optimal choice and save.

They are divided by purpose:

  • plumbing
  • sewer.

Variety of types of plastic pipes

In terms of furniture manufacturing and useful gadgets for everyday life, sewer pipes, unlike water pipes, benefit from a lower price. They are made in large diameters.

According to the type of polymer from which the pipes are made, they are divided into:

  • polyvinyl chloride (PVC);

PVC pipes of different diameters and colors

  • polyethylene (PE);

Polyethylene pipes of large diameter, straight and corrugated

  • polypropylene (PP).

Polypropylene pipes and fittings

They differ slightly from each other in properties. Polyethylene behaves worse at elevated temperatures and under the influence of sun rays, it is elastic. Polypropylene pipes are more durable and rigid. positive quality PVC pipes are of increased chemical resistance and reduced flammability. They tolerate ultraviolet exposure very well. The difference in the performance characteristics of polymers in most cases will not be critical for the manufacture of furniture. But the difference in price is a factor that should be taken into account. The most expensive are polypropylene. PVC pipes have the best price-quality ratio for creating furniture structures.

In addition, pipes are reinforced and non-reinforced. Polymer pipes are most often reinforced with fiberglass or aluminum. The reinforcing layer is soldered between two polymer layers. This is done to increase strength, rigidity, and reduce linear expansion when heated. Reinforced polypropylene pipes are used for hot water supply. The letters RC are added to the designation of the reinforced pipe. In appearance, they can also be distinguished. In addition, some manufacturers apply a colored strip along the pipe, informing about the scope of the product. Pipes with a blue stripe are used for cold water supply, with a red stripe for hot water or pipelines with a heat carrier. The presence of both bands indicates the versatility of the pipe. It should be borne in mind that reinforced pipes, although stronger, are much more expensive. Make a decision on the advisability of additional costs to the master.

What tools to use

In order to update your interior with crafts from plastic pipes with your own hands, you need a minimum amount of tools:

  • hacksaw or special scissors for plastic pipes;
  • pencil or marker;
  • roulette;
  • file;
  • special soldering iron for plastic pipes;
  • drill.

Do not interfere with gloves and goggles. Despite the fact that working with PVC pipes is not dangerous, shavings fly when sawing, sharp edges remain. In order not to damage your hands and eyes, it is better to use protection.

Basic principles for the manufacture of objects from polypropylene pipes

Plastic products rapidly burst into our lives, pushing the materials familiar to us, such as wood and metal, and every day capture more and more new industries. Not surprising, because the service life of such products is at least 50 years. In addition, they do not rot, do not oxidize, are not subject to chemical attack, and the most important criterion is that they are cheap.

Plastic is involved in almost all industries. It is widely used in construction. Any pipeline is now made of plastic pipes. Old highways have long served their time, and they are being replaced by systems made of polypropylene or PVC.

Article content

What will be required?

Plastic pipes intended for laying all kinds of pipelines are often used in other industries.

Craftsmen began to make their own hands from PVC pipes miscellaneous items interior, and much more. Remains plastic parts, which remained after construction or repair, are also in no hurry to throw it away. After all, from them you can make a bunch of necessary and unusual things.

The beauty is that this does not require special skills, but everything is possible. A little imagination, and trash from plastic waste will turn into an exclusive thing.

Very quickly and easily you can make chairs from plastic pipes with your own hands.

For this we need:

  • pieces of polypropylene or PVC pipes;
  • cross - 1 pc.;
  • turn 90° - 4 pcs.;
  • tee 8 - piece;
  • plugs - 4 pcs.;
  • a piece of dense thick plywood (for the seat);
  • a piece of foam rubber;
  • a piece of fabric (for covering the seat).

First of all, let's decide on the size. They can be removed from an existing chair at home. According to the selected parameters, we cut blanks from polypropylene pipes.

At will, the length of the segments can be increased or decreased - depending on what size the product you want to get as a result.

Required Tools

Work with bare hands to create a homemade chair - it will not work, you will need a minimum set of tools:

  • or a hacksaw;
  • stapler with staples;
  • drill.

seat assembly

Assembly begins with the seat. We take a cross, and solder pieces of PVC pipes of the right size to it. You can immediately drill holes in the pipes for attaching the seat itself.

They do not need to be painted and processed special formulations. Having such furniture in the country, you don’t have to worry that it will get wet on the street and rot. And most importantly - all this can be done with your own hands.

A few comfortable all-weather waterproof stools, also home-made, made by hand - that is, almost free, will not interfere in the country. And it's not hard to make them.

I will share my experience

Gardeners and gardeners living in the south of the country (and now residents middle lane) in the summer are faced with the need for fairly frequent watering of plants due to lack of rain.

Moisture is not enough vegetable crops, and shrubs. The usual quick watering from a watering can or hose does not give the desired effect. Water either spreads over the surface, or goes much deeper than the roots along the cracks in the soil.

Such a solution is quite functional, but over time, wooden coasters, constantly being on wet ground, begin to rot, and it is not very convenient to carry them along with the tank. I'm not talking about the appearance of these structures.

Therefore, I decided to make new stands for the tanks.

They should be rot-resistant, not repulsive in appearance, and easy to manufacture. For a long time I couldn't find suitable option stand designs.

And then I accidentally stumbled in a shed on PVC fittings for pipes left after laying the water pipe.

The idea of making furniture from PVC pipes is far from new, but in my case it turned up just in time. Almost all the details were already on the shelf. I had to buy only a plastic pipe and a few plugs.

DIY PVC pipe chair

I assembled the frame of the chair from thick-walled PVC pipe 32 mm. I used a pipe for hot water without reinforcement. In addition to the pipe itself (about 3.5 m), I needed 4 tees, 4 corners, 4 plugs and 1 cross.

With special scissors for cutting plastic pipes (if I didn’t have them, I would take a hacksaw for metal), I cut blanks of the required sizes and, using a soldering iron for PVC pipes, very quickly assembled the stool frame.

The seat was made of larch, covering the boards with acrylic varnish in 2 layers. He fastened them with self-tapping screws, which he screwed through the pipe.

It took about two hours to do the whole job, including finishing with varnish. The design turned out to be very light, rigid and durable. I use the stool for its intended purpose.

My 105 kg he can withstand without problems. I'm thinking of attaching a back to it.

It is possible that if you buy all the details for such a stool, it will cost more than a regular ready-made chair, but an ordinary chair does not have moisture resistance - the most important advantage of such a country chair.

And the remnants of plastic pipes and fittings formed on the farm will reduce the cost of it to a minimum.

Crafts from polypropylene pipes or LEGO for adults

One day I was watching kids building towers out of LEGO bricks with polypropylene blocks next to them. pipes and fittings that remained superfluous after arranging the water supply in the house. And then an amazing idea came to me: why not use them as parts of an “adult” constructor and make useful products out of them? Having started to create, I got carried away to such an extent that I had to buy more materials, and read on about what came of it.

Motivation

I note that using plastic pipes to assemble various functional structures is far from my invention. People everywhere have long and quite successfully followed this trend, not limited to the use of such a wonderful material for the installation of pipelines alone.

But I want to tell you about what exactly prompted me to take this step, in addition to the type of children playing described above:

  • Low price implementation. Polypropylene pipes are relatively inexpensive, and besides, you may have a surplus of them after laying communication systems at home, which still have nowhere to go. Even more than that, already used samples are quite suitable for the implementation of many ideas;
  • No toxic secretions, which allows you to also design crafts for children without fear for their health;
  • Simplicity and high assembly speed. Notoriously light installation work when installing a polypropylene pipeline, so here you can also do without soldering, since there is no need to maintain high tightness of the joints. By the way, this also makes it possible to carry out quick dismantling without causing damage to the structure itself;
  • Attractive appearance. White color, the correct forms, which, if desired, can be changed, all this has a positive effect on the final appearance of the manufactured product. Usually, at the end of the work, it does not even need to be painted;

  • No corrosive processes. It is possible not only to build street structures, but even to assemble, for example, a raft, since neither rain nor direct constant contact with water will negatively affect plastic in any way;
  • Good strength properties. The walls of plastic pipes are thick enough to withstand the pressure in water supply systems, and structures made from them are sufficiently resistant to any mechanical stress;
  • Little weight, which gives the finished object mobility, and also makes the assembly process even more accessible;
  • Long service life, which is at least half a century.

An impressive list of advantages, which I personally supplemented for myself with the opportunity to once again feel like a little child creating “castles in the air”, turned out to be convincing enough to get down to business without delay.

Constructor games

Greenhouse

It is difficult to call a greenhouse just a craft; rather, it is already almost a building. But, nevertheless, plastic pipes do an excellent job with its construction. The finished arched structure will decorate the site and will provide you with invaluable assistance in growing many types of crops. In general, every gardener will understand what this is about, right there I want to describe the features of the installation process itself.

That such a building is not suitable for year-round operation, since it will not withstand harsh winter weather conditions. So limit yourself better to the spring-autumn period.

The main elements of the structure:

Construction instructions:

  1. For starters, I made an elementary drawing, in which he noted the most important parameters of the future structure:
    • Length - 5 m;
    • Width - 3 m;
    • Number of arches - 6;
    • The distance between the arches is 1 m;
  1. Leveled the surface selected area;
  2. Marked pipes 25 mm diameter and cut them to:
    • 10 meter lengths for lateral elongated sides;
    • One three-meter segment under the back wall;
    • 2 x 110 cm and one 80 cm in order to create a passage on the front side;
    • 12 three-meter - to create arches;
    • One six-meter fragment, which will become a rib connecting the top of the arches;

  1. Now connected all the pieces around the perimeter, except for those prepared for arches, using couplings in the form of crosses, so that a through hole is obtained at the place of each docking. For corners I used similar swivel fittings;

  1. I drove thin metal rods into the holes so that they fit snugly into the ground, but at the same time they rise somewhere else by 15 cm above the laid out plastic frame. With their help, it will be possible to securely fix the structure in one place and strengthen its base;
  2. Now, in these same holes, only already planting on steel rods, I inserted pipes of arches;
  3. From above I have them also connected with crosses, into which then passed a six-meter pipe as a stiffener;
  4. Installed the frame. For greater convenience, you can even build a door, but since not for the whole year, I got by with just a dense, retractable curtain made of film;
  5. In all joints of fittings with pipes screw in short screws;
  6. I covered the finished "skeleton" with a film. Polycarbonate is also well suited for this purpose.

As a result, I got an excellent summer greenhouse, which I safely dismantled in the fall and hid in the hozblok until next spring.

Onion

This idea will appeal not only to children, but also to adults, since the finished bow will have a fairly high lethal force. Personally, as a lover of medieval themes, I was very pleased with the opportunity to recreate such a bright representative of it.

Main elements of the product:

Implementation process:

  1. I took a half-meter piece of pipe, marked the center on it, from which I then retreated 50 mm in both directions, where I made marks;
  2. Then warmed up one side to the marked place with the help of the building until it becomes pliable. You can, of course, use other methods of melting, but I consider this the most convenient and safe, since the presence of an open flame is excluded;

  1. Soft plastic with the help of two planks I squeezed so that the edge of the pipe becomes a semicircular flattened shape, and closer to the center it expands again;
  2. I did a similar manipulation with the second side;
  3. Then also warmed up the still untouched middle and, while it is soft, but not scalding, he grabbed and squeezed it with his hand, forming a comfortable handle;
  4. Now reheated the edges and pushed them back;
  5. After the plastic has hardened again, made slits under the bowstring, put it on and, with childish delight, fired the first shot with an arrow prepared in advance.

Hanger

This simple yet incredible useful thing household appliances has many options for the execution of the material in question. Depending on your imagination and what you want to get in the final form, you can assemble either such a complex structure as in the photo, or a floor structure with a stand, but I will describe to you the simplest and easiest option that I used myself:

  1. I took a meter piece of polypropylene pipe and cut it into three pieces:
    • One is 400 mm long;
    • Two 300 mm long;
  1. Passed through the resulting plastic cylinders piece of rope, folded them in the shape of a triangle and tied together the protruding rope ends;

  1. Outgoing rope edge tied to a metal hook, borrowed from an old broken hanger.

Chair

I will not indicate the dimensions, since using a similar technology you can make both a children's and an "adult" chair or stool. So it’s better to remove the linear parameters from the usual purchased sample and already be guided by them. I also note that in a similar way you can build a table or even a small single bed.

The assembly instruction looks like this:

  1. First of all, as in the above options, I marked the pipes, in accordance with the dimensions taken, after which he cut them into the necessary pieces;
  2. Then he took the cross, which later will be under the seat and soldered four short pieces to it leading to the legs. Instead of soldering, you can use glue, while self-tapping screws will not look aesthetically pleasing, but it is necessary to strengthen all joints, since the product must continue to withstand the entire child or adult body. A little about soldering technology:
    • We put the soldering iron on a level place, fasten the mandrel and sleeve of the required sizes, set the thermostat to 260 degrees Celsius, plug the plug into the socket and switch the power switch to the working position;
    • After the nozzles are properly heated, we install the edge of the pipe and the corresponding coupling in them;

    • We wait a few seconds, after which we remove the products and strictly at an angle of ninety degrees we join them and now we are waiting for solidification;

  1. On the free edges of the tubes, I welded a tee;

  1. I attached legs to the lower holes, into the lower ends of which I inserted plugs;
  2. Assembled two handrails:
    • Welded to the corresponding tubes on one side along the turn, and on the other along the tee;

    • To fittings that go out in one direction, soldered another short segment;
  1. The resulting products installed on the sides the prepared structure on top of its legs so that the edges with the crosses are on the back side, where the back is planned;
  2. Collected the back:
    • I took the tube corresponding to its top and welded it to both ends along the turn;
    • I attached segments half the length of the back to the turns;
    • I soldered tees to their edges, which, in turn, connected with another tube, thereby creating a stiffener. Several can be made depending on the size of the chair;
    • With two more lengths in the second half of the back, I attached the resulting polypropylene rectangle to the crosses of the railing;
  1. I screwed pieces of plywood to the seat and back with self-tapping screws, which I then upholstered with foam rubber and sheathed with fabric.

If we complicate the design using a similar assembly technology, then, as I noted above, even a bed can be obtained:

Organizer

Here is another incredibly simple and original method for using plastic pipes:

  1. From the remains of pipes of different diameters cut a few neat pieces so that one of their sides is beveled at the same angle. At the same time, I chose the length for each in accordance with the stationery, for example, for pens and pencils more, and for a smaller scraper;
  2. Cleaned up all the edges with a file. This was especially necessary for pieces with a large cross section, which had to be cut with a hacksaw, and not with scissors;

  1. Then he put them on a flat surface in a "flock", but so that all the bevels were turned in one direction, and glued all adjoining walls.

The same method turned out to be an excellent organizer for the bathroom, only here I no longer began to make oblique edges:

I would also like to note that with the help of a similar technology, that is, by gluing tubes to each other with walls, you can create strikingly beautiful pieces of furniture in a modern original style, as shown in the following photo:

Table lamp

First thing here I took care of the electrical part:

  1. Dismantled an old lamp and took out the inner part from it: wires, switch and base;
  2. Cut some pipes and prepared fittings according to the creative idea;
  3. The edge of one of the segments was smeared with glue and put a plinth in it, after passing through the inside of the wire;
  4. Then assembled the body of the lamp which can take the most unexpected form. Here are some ideas as examples:
    • Robot. My daughter was simply delighted with such an idea, although I had to tinker with the design:

    • Snake. If you want something simpler, but just as unusual, then by connecting the tubes with different swivel fittings, you can get a very pretty reptile:

    • Alien life form. If, on the contrary, you want to unfold with might and main in your creative impulse, and you have time for this, then you can even build a very unusual alien:

  1. I connected the switch and the cord with the plug, after which the work was completed.

Ideas waiting to be realized

And I have not yet managed to make these products from polypropylene pipes with my own hands:

  • Shelves. The progress of work also involves the use of a soldering iron, as in the case of creating chairs, beds and tables, but you will also need a perforator with dowels to fix the structures to the walls, as well as acrylic paints to make them more in harmony with the rest of the interior appearance. You can come up with any forms;

  • solar collector. A great way to save money on hot water country house in summer;

  • fencing. It can be, like a fence installed around the perimeter of the cottage, or a small fence for a flower bed;

  • Swing. Here it is already better to stock up on pipes of a larger diameter than those that I considered earlier. There are also implementation options here, because it can be a small hanging seat for a child, or maybe a full-fledged garden swing in the form of a sofa, which I especially like, since purchased metal models are quite expensive;

  • Removable car trunk. Yes, yes, even your car can be improved with plastic cylindrical products;

  • Pool. Of course, here, as in the case of a greenhouse, you will still need a suitable sheathing, but to assemble a rectangular or round shape from the material under consideration is absolutely simple;

  • Sled. It is possible to design not only those objects that are used in summer or indoors, but also those that are suitable for winter conditions. So, for example, your child will be incredibly happy with a cute, comfortable and light snowmobile vehicle suitable for dizzying descents from the hills;

  • Clothes dryer. In addition, you can make it multi-level and collapsible for more convenient and multifunctional operation;

  • Trash can. It is enough to create a small frame for a garbage bag;

  • Notebook Stand. If you need your computer to be tilted rather than horizontal, then a few plastic tubes connected in a certain way will solve this problem;

  • Decorative partitions. Rings cut from polypropylene pipes and glued together by walls can perfectly zone the room.

Conclusion

In "LEGO" you can play as an adult. Only instead of multi-colored cubes, then it is worth using polypropylene pipes and fittings. This will not only satisfy your thirst for construction, but also allow you to acquire interesting, original, functional, practical and inexpensive things that will be appreciated by your loved ones. Turn on your imagination and get down to business!

It's no secret that at the end repair work the rest of the materials are in the house. Thrifty owners are in no hurry to get rid of these things. It turns out that many crafts can be made from them.

Pieces of pipes and extra fittings are no exception. Crafts made of polypropylene allow you to realize any fantasies and make useful things for household use with your own hands.

We suggest you read the article.

How can you use the remains of polypropylene pipe materials in the garden

Crafts in the form of multi-tiered beds

Do-it-yourself crafts from polypropylene pipes turn out to be necessary and practical. This also happens when there is little space on the site. From such pipe products it is possible to build beds consisting of many tiers.

The arrangement of the beds is not very difficult. Large-diameter pipe products are prepared for them. They are laid on the ground, where the upper part is cut off. This is done along the entire length of the product. And from below, holes are drilled at equal distances.

The blanks-beds are attached to the installed frame, a drainage layer and earth are poured into them.

These structures do not occupy a large amount of space, plantings in them do not create a shadow for each other, and they are easily disassembled and assembled.

ADVICE. Such a bed can not even be built on a balcony, and then the house will always have its own freshly picked greenery.

It cannot be carried away or overturned. strong wind. This dryer can be kept outdoors all the time without rusting or rotting. The convenient design gives the chance at any time to rearrange the dryer in the necessary place.

Hangers for clothes

This is the simplest product, which requires only three small cuts of polypropylene pipes. Two of them should be the same length, and the third should be 1/3 longer.

These three blanks must be strung on a strong rope, which should then be firmly tied. It turns out an isosceles triangle. A wire hook is attached to the top of the triangle.

Pipe-rolling materials made of polypropylene have proven themselves from the very best side. This was facilitated by the environmental friendliness and durability of this material. Therefore, crafts made of polypropylene pipes are in great demand.

Simple installation allows anyone with a little imagination to create a household item that will be used for a very long time.
