Clothes dryers, whose popularity has increased markedly, allow you to avoid many inconveniences: washed things do not have to be hung throughout the apartment, they dry faster, wrinkle less and do not interfere. The ease of use of the dryer largely depends on the design itself, its dimensions, functionality, and material of manufacture.

To choose the best option, you should learn more about the types of dryers, their pros and cons, as well as installation methods.

Modern clothes dryers are presented in a wide range - from standard crossbeams on racks to electric models with several temperature conditions. They differ not only in shape and size, but also in the installation method, in addition, each dryer is designed for certain loads. Most models are made of aluminum, stainless steel and plastic, although wooden products are also quite in demand.

Depending on the design, dryers can be installed on the floor or sides of the bath, mounted on the wall or ceiling. It is the installation method that is the most important criterion when choosing a model, and in order not to be mistaken, it is better to study in advance the main characteristics of each type.

Floor models

A floor dryer is usually a folding frame with horizontal bars or stretched metal strings, on which laundry is hung. When unfolded, the dryer takes up quite a lot of space (especially designs with additional modules), but it allows you to conveniently place a large number of things. When assembled, the thickness of the dryer does not exceed 10 cm, and it can be easily pushed between the bathtub and washing machine. On average, such models can withstand about 20 kg of wet laundry, and the weight of the structure itself is no more than 3.5-4 kg.

In addition to standard horizontal dryers, there are multi-tiered rack-type models on sale, which also fold and are equipped with wheels for ease of movement. When unfolded, they occupy less space than horizontal ones and are ideal for drying small items - underwear, socks, shirts, blouses, and so on.

Advantages of floor structures:

  • ease of use and durability;
  • light weight;
  • excellent capacity;
  • the dryer can be placed in any convenient place;
  • no need to mount fasteners.

There is only one minus for such dryers - they occupy a usable area, and for a small apartment this is a very urgent problem.

Floor dryers

wall models

Dryers mounted on the wall are much more convenient to use. They are rails with crossbars for hanging clothes. Wall structures are telescopic, sliding, with adjustable crossbars in height. There are compact models with a spring drum in the body that allow you to stretch the strings between opposite walls. Things hung at the top do not interfere with using the bathroom, unless it is bed linen, and after assembly, the dryer harmoniously fits into the interior and does not annoy the eyes.

Advantages:

  • compact dimensions;
  • ease and convenience in operation;
  • low price;
  • aesthetic look.
  • small capacity;
  • the maximum load should not exceed 7-10 kg, depending on the model;
  • for installation, it is necessary to drill the walls.

Suspended models

By design, ceiling dryers resemble wall dryers, only their guides are attached to the ceiling. The height of the crossbars is adjustable, when hanging the laundry, they can be easily lowered to the desired level, and then pulled up again. Moreover, each crossbar can move independently of the others, which makes the operation of the dryer even more convenient. As a rule, such structures are mounted above the bathtub so that puddles from drops from wet laundry do not form on the floor.

  • hung things do not take up useful space and almost do not interfere with using the bathroom;
  • dryers are compact and aesthetically pleasing;
  • designs are easy to use.

The disadvantage of such dryers can be called the complexity of installation. Fasteners must be as strong and reliable as possible, as well as ceilings, so that under the weight of wet things the entire structure does not fall down.

Bath dryers

These dryers are foldable lightweight frames with thin tubes or strings. They can be laid out in a horizontal position on top of the bath or placed at an angle on opposite sides. To prevent the racks from slipping, they have special plastic clamps. There are also models that are hung on the side of the side or on the heating radiator. They are very small and are mainly used for drying towels, socks, underwear.

The advantages of such dryers include only light weight and ease of operation, as for convenience and functionality, here they noticeably lose. You can’t hang a lot on these structures; they are also not suitable for drying bed linen. In addition, while things are drying, there is no way to take a bath, since the dryer is located directly above it.

Electric dryers

Electric dryers are no less in demand than conventional ones, even despite the high cost. They are indispensable if you need to quickly dry a jacket, a warm sweater, a blanket and other similar things that are normal conditions will dry for several days. Electric models are also very diverse and can be floor, wall, suspended. Most of them are equipped with thermostats, which allows you to choose the optimal drying mode, depending on the type of laundry. There are also dryers with electronic timers, thanks to which you can adjust the duration of the device. Such dryers consume very little electricity, operate almost silently, withstand loads of about 15 kg.

  • fast and uniform drying;
  • ease of use;
  • when folded, the dryer takes up a minimum of space.
  • high price;
  • additional energy costs;
  • the need for safety precautions.

Electric clothes dryers

When choosing a dryer, special attention should be paid to the material of manufacture. Stainless steel products are rightfully considered the most practical and durable. They do not lose their appearance over time, withstand the greatest loads, do not leave stains on things and are easily cleaned of plaque.

Powder-coated aluminum models also look great at first, but with heavy use, the coating begins to peel off, and the aluminum leaves dark marks on the linen.

Plastic products are the most affordable and look attractive, but their service life is rather limited. And you can’t exert a heavy load on them, otherwise the plastic case will quickly break. Over time, such dryers lose their attractive appearance, the plastic turns yellow, the strings sag.

As for wooden dryers, with proper care they can last a very long time, in addition, such models most often have original shape and harmoniously look in the interior of the bathroom. But if you have to wash often and in large quantities, it is better to refuse a wooden dryer in favor of a metal one.

When choosing, you need to pay attention to the quality of the connections, the density of the coating, the ease of movement of the elements. Strings or rods should not be too dense: the optimal distance is 7-10 cm, if it is less, then things will touch each other and dry longer. The frame of the dryer should not have sharp protrusions, traces of welding, spots, roughness. If the base shines through the coating, it is better to refuse such a purchase - very soon the paint will begin to peel off.

In a high-quality dryer, all elements have an even color, a smooth, even surface, the tubes are closed at the ends with plugs, as are the junctions. The packaging must indicate the complete set, all dimensions, weight, the presence of installation instructions is mandatory.

Options for installing a clothes dryer in the bathroom

To install a dryer in the bathroom does not require special knowledge and skills, so it is not at all difficult to cope with the installation. The order of fastening the elements may differ slightly depending on the design of the product, therefore, before installation, you should carefully read the manufacturer's instructions. Most often, mistakes are made when installing ceiling dryers, and therefore we will consider the options for their installation in more detail.

Installation of the dryer "Liana"

Before starting work, all elements of the dryer must be laid out on the table and checked for completeness. Fasteners are usually included in the kit, but they are not always reliable, and many craftsmen prefer to buy them separately. In addition to the dryer itself, you will need a pencil, a hammer and a drill with the appropriate drill bits for concrete and tiles.

Step 1. Choose the optimal location of the dryer and put pencil marks on the ceiling. To do this, take brackets with rollers, apply them to the ceiling and mark points through the mounting holes. The brackets should be parallel to each other, at the same level, and the distance between them should correspond to the length of the dryer rods.

Step 2 Holes are drilled in the ceiling, dust is blown out, dowels are hammered tightly. Next, the brackets are screwed with screws and the recesses from the fasteners are closed with special plugs included in the package.

Step 3 A bracket is attached to the wall parallel to the brackets to fix the cords. It should be located approximately at a height of 1.3-1.5 m from the floor, strictly horizontally. Fastening takes place in exactly the same way: points for fasteners are marked through the holes, they are drilled, dowels are inserted and screws are screwed in. If the wall is tiled, take a spear-shaped drill with a victorious solder, otherwise the tile may crack.

Step 4 Gently lay out the cords on a flat surface and begin to attach them in turn to each rod. To do this, a tight knot is tied at the end, the cord is placed in the groove on the rod and the knot is pulled inward with force. All other cords are fixed in the same way.

Step 5 Start assembling the dryer. Thread the cords through the holes in both brackets. If the fixing bracket is located on the right side, the assembly starts from the left bracket, and vice versa. The cord itself is not very easy to push into the hole, so for convenience, you can use a piece of wire, bending it in the form of a hook or a long loop. The free end of the cord is pulled through two fixing caps.

Step 6 The first rod is pulled up, after which the upper cap is fixed with a knot on the cord and inserted into the cutout on the bracket. Repeat the steps with the rest of the suspensions so that they are all on the same level.

Step 7 Next, I determine the lower level of the location of the rods, on which it is most convenient to hang clothes, and tie one more knot. The knots are pulled into the lower caps, and the remaining pieces of the cord are cut off. After that, the suspensions are again pulled to their original position.

Installation of the Fortuna dryer

Model "Fortuna" is a structure of metal brackets with rollers, on which two movable aluminum profiles are mounted. With help simple mechanism and steel cables, the profiles are easily raised and lowered to the desired height, and independently of each other. In the profiles along the entire length there are special holes for hangers, on which it is convenient to dry clothes.

The brackets are fixed to the ceiling, while the guide roller and the control box are placed on the wall. First you need to choose the most convenient location for the dryer relative to the bath, so that the water from the laundry flows directly into it and does not form puddles on the floor. After that, you can proceed directly to the installation.

Step 1. On the ceiling with a pencil mark the attachment points of the brackets, 2 for each. They should form a rectangle with sides of 1.8-2 m and 0.4-0.6 m. The fasteners of the control unit and the guide roller are also marked on the wall strictly along one vertical line.

Step 2 According to the marks, holes of the appropriate depth are drilled, and with the help of anchors, the brackets with rollers and the control unit are screwed.

Step 3 The end of the steel cable is carefully pulled into the holder (crab), a strong knot is tied at the end and pulled inward. The second end of the cable should be threaded into the plastic retainer and pad that comes with the dryer, and then pulled through the roller located on the opposite side of the control box.

Step 4 The pad is moved close to the roller, clamped with a latch until it stops, the crab is pulled up on the cable so that it rests tightly against the latch. After that, the cable is passed from the outside of the double roller and through the guide roller.

Step 5 On the control unit, you need to unscrew the cap so that the lock washer that is inside does not fall out. The free end of the cable is threaded through this cap, bent in the form of a loop and taken out through the same hole. Now the cable is pulled in the opposite direction, but from the inside of both rollers. In this case, the double roller must be turned towards the guide.

Step 6. Decorative overlays are alternately fixed under each roller, then crabs are put on and the length of the cable is adjusted so that when the crabs are at the very top, the distance between the control unit and the middle of the loop does not exceed 10 cm. After that, the free end of the cable is cut.

Step 7 A lock washer is inserted into the middle of the loop and, holding it with your fingers, tighten the cable into the cap. Using the handle on the control unit, the cable is slightly unwound so that the cap can be screwed on.

Self-made clothes dryer

For homemade dryers can be used wooden slats, PVC pipes, metal corners and other improvised materials. There are a lot of options for such designs, from simple to the most complex, and the choice depends only on your skill and experience. For example, consider the manufacture of a dryer from the corners, which any novice master can do.

For work you will need:

  • 2 steel corners 25x25 mm and about 1 m long;
  • grover washers with a diameter of 20-30 mm;
  • drill with a set of drills;
  • level and pencil;
  • anchor bolts;
  • braided steel cable or strong linen cord.

Step 1. They take a corner and drill holes for fasteners in one shelf at a distance of 50 mm from the ends and in the middle. In another shelf, holes are drilled with a diameter of 6 mm in increments of 10 cm, retreating from the ends about 2-3 cm. The second corner is processed in the same way.

Arms for linen

Step 2 The prepared corners are well sanded and painted to give the dryer an aesthetic look. The paint must be anti-corrosion, because the dryer will constantly be in conditions of high humidity.

Step 3 When the paint is dry, apply a corner to the wall to determine the most comfortable height. The horizontal is set according to the level and marks are made with a pencil through the holes in the shelf. In the same way, markings are made for the second corner on the opposite wall. All marks must be at the same level, otherwise the dryer will be skewed.

Step 4 Holes are drilled in the marked places, they are cleaned of dust, a corner is applied and fixed to the wall with anchor bolts. Then screw the second corner.

Step 5 A cord is pulled between the guides, threading it into washers and securing the ends with knots so that they do not slip out.

In order for the process of drying clothes to bring a minimum of inconvenience, and randomly hung shirts and pillowcases not to spoil the interior, you need comfortable and beautiful clothes dryers in the bathroom. Do right choice and not to return to it in the next few years will help useful advice and tips.

The range of devices for drying clothes is more than wide. First of all, the variety of forms catches the eye, among which there are miniature models for drying small things over the bathroom, and capacious folding structures that can place the contents of a huge closet on their rungs. In order not to make a mistake in choosing, you will have to soberly assess the size of your own bathroom and finally decide where the dryer will be located: on the floor, on the wall or on the ceiling.

Floor dryers

Floor folding structures are convenient because they do not take up much space and are not in front of your eyes at a time when there is nothing to dry - the "clamshell" folds compactly and can be stored in a pantry or in a corner. This form is ideal for those who wash 1-2 times a week and have enough space to use the unfolded bulky design without prejudice to visiting the bathroom.

Folding design is suitable for a spacious room

Vertical models are more compact and can fit in a free corner of the bathroom without compromising the interior and convenience. But such a modification is more suitable for those who wash exclusively with an automatic machine and use the spin cycle - if poorly wrung out laundry is placed on the upper floors, drops will fall on the lower shelves, leaving ugly smudges and increasing the drying time.

Vertical models are more compact

Wall dryers

A compact wall-mounted clothes dryer in the bathroom cannot boast of a large capacity, but it does not require additional space and quickly comes into working condition. Such devices are ideal for those who do not like to accumulate a lot of things, but prefer to wash in small batches.

Wall mounts take up little space

Ceiling dryers

Ceiling fixtures are a modern alternative to grandma's ropes. They can be foldable and fixed. If you hang the structure directly above the bathtub, then you can safely hang things on it from which water drips. The most significant drawback of ceiling models is that they limit the ability to use the bathroom while drying things.

For the ceiling, there are a lot of modifications of dryers

How to choose a durable bathroom dryer

Having decided on the form, you should carefully look at the quality of the product and, first of all, at the materials from which the dryer is made. It is important not to forget about the high humidity in the bathroom and the frequent contact of elements with wet things - all parts and fasteners must be resistant to corrosion. The most durable and practical material is stainless steel. It makes sense to choose aluminum only if the fixture will be used only for light laundry.

Convenient and popular "Liana"

Sometimes, instead of stainless steel, manufacturers use ordinary steel, protecting it from moisture with enamel or powder dyes. Unfortunately, the enamel is short-lived and quickly cracked. A high-quality powder coating is more reliable and is not afraid of moisture, but it must be flawlessly applied to all parts of the product.

In inexpensive wall-mounted dryers and in compact models designed to be placed on the bathtub or on the door, plastic is often found. Of course, you can buy such an economical option, but you should not count on many years of service.

The distance between the strings or crossbars must be at least 6 cm

In order not to make a mistake in choosing a bathroom dryer, it is recommended to take a tape measure with you to the store. Firstly, it will help to determine the dimensions with an accuracy of up to a centimeter, and secondly, it can be used to measure the distance between the crossbars or ropes. Ideally, it should be at least 6 cm - otherwise things will take longer to dry, and accidental contact can lead to stains on light fabrics.

Electrical Appliances for Quick Drying Laundry

For those who like fast results, there are electric dryers. These devices help out both in winter and in summer. In order to dry small items, 40-50 minutes are enough, and such large items as duvet covers and rugs dry in 2-4 hours.

When choosing an electric assistant, it is important to pay attention to its power - it is desirable that this parameter be at least 70 W, then the device can easily cope with bulky jackets, pillows and thick winter sweaters. So that the dryer can be trusted not only with coarse, but also with thin fabrics, it is recommended to give preference to models with several temperature regimes.

Standard floor system

For admirers of traditional solutions, folding floor models are produced that resemble the usual folding dryers in shape. For small rooms there are compact wall structures that can be used not only for their intended purpose, but also for heating the bathroom.

For delicate fabrics and instant results, they came up with a system in which clothes get rid of excess moisture through the circulation of hot air. Such models have a frame and a cover, inside of which the process of rapid drying takes place.

Quick Delicate Electric Dryer

Designer clothes dryers not only perform their duties with high quality, but also decorate the bathroom. For a large room, a star-shaped design, which unfolds according to the principle of an accordion, is suitable.

Star dryer for a large number of small items

Even in a small bathroom there is a place for a wall structure that imitates a pretty window. The color of the frame is easy to match the overall design.

Idea for small spaces

Those who like to take foot baths will love the rocking chair with a clothes dryer.

Rocking chair with enhanced features

For a country-style bathroom, wood products are more suitable, which, if desired, are easy to do with your own hands.

The wood blends perfectly with the rustic style.

For trifles and knitwear that require washing without spinning, you can purchase an additional dryer installed directly on the bath.

The simplest bath fixture

For lovers of technological innovations, it makes sense to take a closer look at a compact ceiling system controlled by a remote control. At the time of hanging things, the crossbars fall to a comfortable height, during the drying process, the laundry can be slightly lifted, and in the standby mode for the next wash, the structure folds compactly under the ceiling and does not spoil the interior.

Automatic model with remote control

If a huge assortment of stores does not have that unique model that you want to have in your home, there are only two options left: either make a device for drying clothes with your own hands, or turn to specialists and order them a design drawn in your imagination.

The process of drying clothes in the bathroom is simplified and made convenient various models dryers in the bathroom, which are able to fit into any interior without violating the overall design concept.

Existing models of dryers

The modern range of clothes dryers in the bathroom is very diverse. There are also compact specimens for drying small things, and very roomy folding models.

To choose the right model, you need to take into account several nuances so that it harmoniously fits into the dimensions of the room and design.

Floor models

Such designs for drying, which are installed on the floor in the room, are very convenient. Indeed, at the moment when nothing needs to be dried, they are removed to a secluded place and do not affect appearance bathroom.

Suitable floor "fold-out dryers" for someone who does laundry a couple of times a week, and has a spacious bathroom where the dryer could fit in an unfolded form.

Vertical floor models are the most compact, when assembled, they easily fit in the corner of the room. These models are suitable for those who hang out well-wrung out laundry to dry so that drops do not fall on the lower floors.

wall models

Due to its dimensions and method of attachment, the wall-mounted dryer in the bathroom does not take up much space, and it also turns on and works quite quickly.

However, it will not be possible to place a large number of things on it. These designs are suitable for families where washing is done in small batches and often.

Ceiling linen dryers

Modern models have replaced conventional clotheslines in the bathroom. Today they are represented by stationary specimens and folding structures.

If you use this design, then even very wet things, from which droplets of water drip, can be safely placed for drying.

The only disadvantage of ceiling models is the limitation of the possibility of using the bathroom during the drying process.

Choice of laundry drying

In addition to the shape of the product itself, it is imperative to pay attention to the materials of manufacture. Since the humidity is high in the bathroom, and the crossbars are constantly in contact with wet laundry, therefore, all components and fastenings of the dryer must be resistant to corrosion.

One of the most durable is stainless steel. Aluminum drying in the bathroom is better to choose when they will be used to dry light things.

Quite often there are models made of steel, which is protected by a layer of enamel or powder types of dyes. But such specimens are short-lived, as the enamel elements become covered with micro-cracks and deteriorate.

Inexpensive and small-sized models of dryers can sometimes have plastic elements. However, you should not count on a long service life.

Going to the store for clothes drying, you should take a tape measure. First of all, it will help to find out the dimensions of the product to the millimeter, and will also allow you to calculate the distance between adjacent crossbars, which is less than 60 mm. Otherwise, things can touch each other during drying, coloring each other, and increasing the drying time.

Electric dryers

For those who do not like to wait a long time for dried laundry, electric models are suitable. On such designs, small things dry in 40 minutes, while bulky sleeping sets and blankets dry from 2 to 4 hours.

When purchasing such a dryer, you should take into account the power, which should not be less than 70 watts.

It is also better to choose models with adjustment temperature regime so that you can dry gizmos made of light, delicate fabrics on them.

Unusual modifications of dryers

Designer clothes dryers will not only cope with their direct duty, but also be able to decorate the interior of any bathroom.

For small bathrooms, you can use compact models that imitate windows.

You can choose any color for this frame. For drying small knitted items that are washed without wringing, you can purchase a small-sized cute dryer model that is installed on the bath.

For lovers of high technology, there are instances located above the bath and controlled by a remote control. Such dryers automatically move.

Photos of bathroom dryers show that today it is easy to choose models that will meet all the requirements and external characteristics.

Photo dryer in the bathroom

Even the most ideal apartment can have its drawbacks. For example, it may not have a balcony or loggia, which makes it impossible to dry things in the fresh air. Alternative option can become a clothes dryer in the bathroom. There are several types of dryers, the choice of which depends on the characteristics of the room and the personal wishes of the owners of the apartment or house. The dryer will provide quick drying of things, and when folded it will take up very little space.

Today, many cannot imagine their life without such a functionally convenient design as a bathroom dryer. Which dryer is better to choose, everyone decides for himself, since its convenience is determined by each individual.

Drying can be wall, ceiling, hanging or floor - each of the options has its own advantages and features.

Each of the designs is designed to dry clothes and save space. That is why dryers are often assembled quickly and do not take up much space during storage. Before buying, it is important to familiarize yourself with the characteristics of each type so that the choice is considered and the decision is balanced.

Types of dryers:

  1. Wall. Can be rope and folding. The rope design involves pulling the ropes over the bathtub. They can be installed once or removed after each use. The last option for daily use will not be very convenient and practical. The design is based on a special drum on which the rope is wound. You can install it yourself, but for this you will need working tools - a drill and dowels.
  2. Ceiling and suspended. It is a complex design that provides convenient hanging of things. The dryer consists of special rods, each of which can be adjusted independently. From the bars, you can create a platform for drying those things that cannot be bent in half.
  3. To the battery. If the bathroom is heated, then this option is very practical. But the disadvantage of the design is its small size. It is very inconvenient to place large things on it, for example, bed linen needs to be folded several times.
  4. To the bathroom. The design is easy to install on the bathroom, then you don’t have to worry that water will drain from some things. The disadvantage of this design is the rather large dimensions - this makes it difficult to store.

Before buying, it is important to decide on the type of dryer and determine the place in which it will be stored. For example, floor structures are very easy to move, carry and install in any convenient place.

Types of clothes dryers

Choosing a bathroom dryer can be a daunting task. It is important to decide which dryer is best suited for the dimensions of the room, determine the place for its storage. Most dryers are designed in such a way that they do not take up much space when folded.

It is very important to choose the right dryer, then buying it will bring only convenience, saving time and space.

A large selection of dryers from different manufacturers allows you to choose a functional dryer that can be installed on the floor, ceiling, wall or radiator. A battery, for example, will help things dry faster. But a small dryer will save space, but will not allow you to hang large items.

Types of dryer materials:

  • Plastic. Less popular material for the manufacture of dryers. Basically, they make sliding structures for installation in the bathroom.
  • Metal. The choice of a metal structure must be taken very seriously, since things should be dried on a reliable dryer that will not break after several uses. Aluminum structures are considered not very reliable, but chrome and steel dryers have proven themselves well.

Dryers are divided by type of installation. The folding design is convenient because the dryer can be put up or removed at any convenient time. You can install a floor dryer quickly and without much effort. But the tension structure requires more time and effort to install.

DIY bathroom dryer

Sometimes it's not possible to buy convenient fixture like a dryer. But there is always a way out of the situation. The dryer can be made independently, but for this you will need to purchase some materials.

A homemade dryer will look beautiful if you use high-quality materials for its manufacture.

The simplest and probably the most ancient way is hanging ropes. To make such a dryer, you need to buy a few meters of rope and self-tapping screws. Such a dryer will look beautiful if you buy not a simple rope, but beautifully woven and painted in a color that matches the overall style in the interior.

How to make a dryer over the bathroom yourself:

  • From several wooden beams make a base by fastening them together.
  • Attach transverse bars to the base, maintaining a certain distance between them.
  • The length and width of such a hanger must be calculated independently, based on the size of the bath.

You can make any design yourself. But it all depends on the professionalism of the master and the complexity of the design. Of course the most simple dryers will look less stylish than dryers from well-known manufacturers. But option self-manufacturing can be considered in the absence and impossibility of others.

Should you hang clotheslines in the bathroom?

Today, many people continue to use for drying things. ancient methods. Now we are talking about the ropes that people hang in the kitchen and in the bathroom. Scientists have found that drying clothes is much safer in the fresh air. But drying it on a rope is not at all useful.

Drying laundry on a line is not practical - wet laundry takes up a lot of space, and a dusty rope can smear clothes.

In the end, it happens that there is no choice. Then you should be careful about the choice of ropes, as they are made of various materials and have different strengths. Ropes for dryers must be reliable, as wet laundry weighs quite a lot.

What can be used instead of ropes:

  • strings;
  • Lattice;
  • Plastic dryers;
  • Metal dryers.

Today, clotheslines are not as common. Most people use modern clothes dryers that combine practicality and decorativeness. Today, electric dryers are gaining great popularity.

How to assemble a clothes dryer in the bathroom (video)

Bathroom dryers are a convenient device that allows you to dry clothes without taking up much space. Exist different types designs. They can be made from various materials: metal, plastic or wood. According to the method of location and fastening, the dryers can be wall-mounted, suspended, floor-mounted. It is important to choose a dryer that, when folded, will not take up much space.

Which facilitates and speeds up the washing process. But not everyone knows that clothes dryers are also great helpers. After all, the laundry on them dries faster, and they look more aesthetically pleasing than ordinary ropes.

Types of dryers

All dryers have different forms and fastening types, but have one task: to place as much laundry as possible in a minimum space.

One of the classifications of dryers is the difference in designs:

Stationary

The most simple design. The stationary dryer does not change its position, so it is enough to install it once and then it is always ready for use.

Sliding

Among sliding dryers, the so-called accordion is considered the most common. It is attached to one wall and, if necessary, unfolds.

Dryers of a different principle are also used. Their mechanism consists of two parts that are attached to the wall at the required distance.

When there is a need for a dryer, a set of strings are pulled from the main part to the additional one, according to the principle of a roulette, which are designed for hanging clothes. After use, the tensioned devices can be returned to their original position, thereby hiding unnecessary rods from the ceiling.

folding

Also comfortable view design, which allows you to remove the dryer when it is not necessary. They can be folded both in length and in width. It depends on the form of the drying itself, which is presented in a wide range.

The elevator design

This type of clothes dryer has fundamental differences from the previous ones. The rods used for drying clothes are thicker, and ropes are threaded inside them, with which you can adjust the height of the rods.

Thus, the dryer is hung under the ceiling, and when it becomes necessary to hang wet clothes, just pull the rope to lower one of the rods.

Any position in this mechanism is fixed, so you can hang the laundry, and then pull the rope again so that the bar with the already hung laundry rises back up. This original mechanism is suitable for people of short stature who find it inconvenient to hang clothes under the ceiling.

Types

Also, clothes dryers can be classified according to the principle of fastening and installation. They are wall, ceiling and floor.

Consider their differences and features.

For wall mounting

There is a wide range of dryers that are mounted on the wall. They can be small, large, sliding and stretch.

All of them must be securely attached to the wall so that when a load from wet laundry appears, the fasteners do not loosen. Wall dryers in the form of an accordion are considered more convenient. They take up little space and are designed for loads up to 10 kg.

For ceiling mounting

Like wall-mounted, ceiling-mounted dryers have a wide range of removable and stationary variations. Without problems, you can pick up a dryer of any shape and size, most importantly, securely attach it to the ceiling.

For floor installation

Floor dryers are the best option, but it is not advisable to use them for owners of small apartments. They are quick and easy to set up and fold without any problems. In the assembled state, the dryers take up a minimum of space, and in the folding state they can withstand a load of up to 20–30 kg.

Manufacturing materials

Modern manufacturers use three materials for dryers:

  1. Aluminum.
  2. Stainless steel.
  3. Plastic.

Dryers made of aluminum are much cheaper and lighter in weight than the same products made of stainless steel. But aluminum dryers are short-lived, because due to constant contact with moisture, the material will rust. Plastic products rust is not threatened, but they are relatively fragile and subject to temperature changes.

Electronic dryers

On conventional stationary dryers, the laundry dries due to the air temperature in the room, while on electronic drying it is much faster. The ropes of such dryers are heated to a temperature of 50–60 °, which allows you to speed up the drying process, but at the same time eliminate the possibility of burns from touch.

Like stationary, electric dryers can be:

  1. Ceiling. The length is usually 1-2 meters, can accommodate up to 35 kg of laundry.
  2. Wall. Length about 1 meter, can withstand loads up to 15 kg.
  3. Floor. A convenient option due to the possibility of movement, as well as a wide range of shapes, sizes and colors.

The main disadvantages of electronic dryers are: energy consumption and the need to use adapters if there is no outlet nearby.

Advantages and disadvantages of a wall-mounted sliding dryer

Like any product, a wall-mounted clothes dryer has its positive and negative characteristics:

Advantages:

  1. Space saving. Manufacturers of dryers are trying to make them as roomy as possible and at the same time small size. Thoughtful design and the absence of constantly stretched ropes will not interfere at all when taking a bath and other activities.
  2. Diversity. There is a wide range of wall-mounted sliding dryers. You can choose both the smallest, reminiscent, and the largest, which can withstand 25 kg of laundry.
  3. Reliability. Manufacturers use materials that will help the dryer last for many years, so that owners do not have to worry about changing the ropes or buying a new clothes dryer.
  4. Location versatility. Wall dryers for linen can be located not only in the bath, but also, for example, on the balcony. Their design will allow you to position the ropes at a convenient height so that hanging and removing linen does not cause inconvenience to the owners.

Flaws:

  1. Fastening reliability. Mountings in the wall bear a large load from the weight of wet laundry, therefore, when installing the dryer, it is necessary to securely attach it to the surface.

Since sliding drying in the form of an accordion is attached to only one wall, a large load from wet laundry comes to the attachment point.

Therefore, it is necessary to fasten securely and use only solid walls. Drywall is not suitable for such purposes. Usually, screws are included with the dryer, with which it is attached to the wall. It is necessary to make holes and screw with the same screws.

Accommodation in the bathroom

When choosing a place in the bathroom, you should pay attention that sliding dryers:

  1. Attached at head level. Otherwise, you will have to hang clothes on them using a stool or stepladder.
  2. Not attached to plasterboard walls. Wall dryers must withstand a large load, so they can only be hung on concrete or brick walls.

How to choose a clothes dryer?

When choosing a dryer, consider the following factors:

  1. The first step is to decide where it will be located. Based on this, it will become clear which type to choose: wall, ceiling or floor. Be sure to take into account the fact that dryers installed on the floor take up a lot of space and are therefore completely unsuitable for apartments with narrow corridors and small rooms.
  2. You should also pay attention to the material from which the dryer is made. Stainless steel allows the dryer not to deteriorate due to constant contact with moisture.
  3. And another important factor is the amount of laundry that will be dried. Floor dryers, for example, are designed for a small amount of things, but the drying speed is much higher than that of wall and ceiling dryers.

Let's summarize all the characteristics that you should pay attention to when choosing:

  • type of construction;
  • fastening type;
  • product material;
  • dimensions;
  • the amount of linen that can fit;
  • weight of linen that can fit;
  • the ability to adjust the location of the rods;
