There are at least two good reasons why you need to hide worn and worn old sofa upholstery with a new cover. This is the protection of the factory upholstery fabric from rubbing and contamination. And the desire to change the environment, style and design idea premises.

We sew a bedspread on the sofa with our own hands

Compared to cabinet furniture, upholstered furniture wears out much faster. The colors fade, the fabric is worn and faded, and the appearance makes a dull impression. In this case, it is not necessary to throw away old sofa or an armchair and buy new things. You can revive yourself old thing and give it a second life. There are different ways to do this.

You can change the upholstery fabric. This is a laborious process, but the result is almost new furniture. Upholstery replacement requires experience and special skills, so not everyone can do this job at home. In some designs, the metal mechanism for raising and lowering the backrest will not allow the upholstery to be changed at all.

A good solution would be to sew a bedspread that will hide all the defects of the worn upholstery. This option will be much cheaper for the family budget, and the thing made with my own hands, will be more functional and convenient to use.

Why is it better to sew a bedspread with your own hands?

How to sew a bedspread on a sofa with your own hands

There is an extensive range of ready-made blankets, capes and bedspreads on sale, but it is not always possible to choose the right one and the right one in terms of size, color and quality of the material. From such a situation, a good way out would be independent production necessary things with your own hands. Instead of measuring ready-made bedspreads in stores to match your sofa, you need to choose a fabric that will fit the interior of the room and will meet the requirements for color and quality.

The choice of fabric for bedspreads

The most common fabrics from which you can sew a bedspread yourself are the following:

Fabric calculation

How to sew a do-it-yourself bedspread for a sofa

Before buying the selected fabric, you need to measure your sofa and determine the amount of material. When calculating, you should add a margin for allowances of at least 5 cm on all sides of the parts. If a bedspread is provided for the entire sofa, including sidewalls, armrests, a pillow and an ottoman, then a sufficient amount of material with standard width 150 cm is defined as the sum of the length and width of the sofa, multiplied by two. This amount is enough for a bedspread on a sofa of any design. If there are several pillows, then the calculation must be adjusted. The same rule applies when calculating the need for fabric for a bedspread on an armchair.

If the width of the material is non-standard or when making a cape from the remnants of fabric from other products, you should draw a layout of parts on paper on a scale and make sure that there is enough material for sewing.

Cutting and sewing

Covers for chairs and sofas with their own hands

There are several basic ideas for decorating the interior of a room with bedspreads for a sofa and chairs.

  • The easiest option is to use the selected fabric without cutting out the details and stitching. It is necessary to bend the edges twice and stitch along the perimeter of a piece of material. The cover obtained in this way is spread on the surface of a sofa or chair like a regular cape. The advantage of this option is ease of manufacture and ease of removal for washing if necessary. The disadvantage is the formation of folds in the corners and at the joints of the side parts of the sofa with the back and seat. To make it less noticeable, you should choose a thin fabric. Then the folds can be filled manually between the parts of the sofa or chair. You can make several of these bedspreads and easily change them as you wish.
  • You can sew a throw-on bedspread with minimal effort without cutting, if grooves are made on the fabric in places that will cover the corners. The edges are folded over twice and stitched on sewing machine.
  • The fringe or frills suspended along the lower perimeter of the bedspread look very beautiful. These decorating elements can be from other fabric and differ in color. It will take much more material than for the usual version.
  • Tapestry bedspreads look beautiful without any additional embellishments. They are recommended to be sewn according to the pattern, and not used as a cape. Tapestry bedspreads are very suitable for a sofa or armchair in the living room.
  • In order for the coverlet not to slip off and to keep better on the sofa, an increased allowance should be made around the perimeter. At the corners, tie the excess fabric with a ribbon or braid, making beautiful knots that will serve as a fastening and decoration at the same time.
  • Sewing a bedspread for a non-standard sofa design is much more difficult, since each part of the structure will have to be covered with a separate cover. The cape option can be used, but it is advisable to choose a thin fabric for this. Then the excess on the folds can be "packed" into the junction of the details of the sofa or chair.
  • It would be logical to choose the fabric of the bedspread for the children's sofa with the coloring and pattern of the children's theme, soothing shades. The material should not be hard or prickly. Not suitable for fabrics that are prone to accumulation static electricity and attracting dust. Keep in mind that a baby blanket will require more frequent washing and cleaning, so when choosing the type of fabric, you should focus on materials that can withstand repeated washing.
  • It is advisable to attach a drawstring to the lower edges of the fabric, into which an elastic band is passed. This allows you to fit the sofa more tightly. An elastic band will be relevant with a strict style of bedspreads without decoration with fringe, ruffles and folds.
  • A good decoration are decorative pillows made of the same material as the bedspread itself. For a children's sleeping sofa, you can decorate your child's favorite toys in the style of a bedspread or cape.

Choosing the design of a particular living space is an exciting experience, and cute, pleasant things made by yourself give it originality and originality. If a needlewoman is in charge of the house, then a knitted bedspread can become such an exclusive, which will decorate and give a special chic to the sofa.

Beautiful and delicate bedspread, knitted, adds zest to the interior

Light green handmade sofa cover

Recently, handmade products or, as they are often called in the English manner - handmade, are increasingly attracting attention. And it is quite understandable: gone are the days when knitting was done in order to dress their household, or even earn a little. Today, this side of knitting has not disappeared, but needlework has ceased to be only a source of income.

A knitted blanket fits perfectly into the interior of a country house

Making crocheted or knitting products allows you to:

  • choose the most suitable shape models of the appropriate size;
  • independently decide on its color scheme;
  • always keep up with the times, making the most fashionable things;
  • to make an exclusive bedspread with an original knitting pattern;
  • not have a strict time reference;
  • acquire material for the work of the required quality and in the right quantity.

Deciding on design and construction

Knitted plaid for a room in the style of minimalism

In our country, needlework has always been a favorite pastime of many women, and if you “dig” the history, you can be sure that knitting is one of its most beloved types. Confirmation of this is not only knitted hats, scarves, mittens and sweaters, but tablecloths and napkins with the finest patterns, as well as warm blankets and knitted bedspreads, which are distinguished by beauty and practicality.

Plaid, made in a single-color version, which is convenient for color composition interior items

Among the products that you can knit with your own hands, there are several types:

  • small light bedspreads;
  • blankets on the chair;
  • dense children's bedspreads;
  • thick yarn products for sofas and beds.

Advice. Starting knitting, you need to soberly assess your skills and abilities in this matter. If a novice craftswoman takes up the work, you should not set yourself very difficult tasks, for example, knitting a bedspread on a large sofa or double bed - it may remain unfulfilled due to the difficulty of its implementation. There may not be enough strength or skill.

However, there is no reason for despair: in such a situation, it is better to start with a small bedspread on a crib, armchair or small sofa.

Small baby blanket mint color self made

The choice of the degree of complexity of the products depends on the skill of the craftswoman, but the most difficult thing will be making a large blanket for a sofa from thick yarn. In this case, the pattern is not even important: the knitting itself will be very difficult due to large sizes and weight.

Knitted blankets are unusual: you will not find them in every home, they can often be called masterpieces of design art.

Necessary materials

To knit a blanket on a sofa, you need to prepare the materials that will be used in the work, the main of which is yarn. You can knit a product with knitting needles from:

  • wool;
  • cotton yarn;
  • linen;
  • silks;
  • synthetic fibre.

Yarn for blankets can be absolutely any, but without the addition of a metallic thread

The choice of material directly depends on the functionality of the product, and its volumes - on the chosen knitting method and pattern.

If decoration is planned in the future, finishing material will be needed.

Attention! Do not use old yarn to make a large bedspread: the frayed surface of the yarn will give the product a sloppy look.

Required Tools

The main tools, of course, are a hook or knitting needles. On sale they are presented from various materials:

  • metal;
  • plastic;
  • bone;
  • wooden.

A large selection of knitting needles for knitting a variety of products

The "correct" knitting needles have their own characteristics: they must be well polished and not have too pointed ends so as not to injure the hands. At the same time, it is also impossible to tie a quality product with blunt tools, as well as uneven ones.

If the knitted bedspread is made of light yarn, you can use plastic or bone knitting needles: heavy material will bend them.

They differ in material, numbers and shape: for different products - their own. The numbers correspond to the diameter of the needles: No3 - 3mm, No6 - 6mm and are directly related to the thickness of the yarn - they must exceed it by 2 times.

In addition to knitting needles, other tools may be needed.

An iron, a notebook, and drawing utensils may come in handy for designing patterns and drawings.

Manufacturing process: step by step instructions

Spectacular and unusual model, accessible even to beginners

It is better to knit a plaid not with a solid fabric, but with stripes or squares that are knitted separately.

After the model of the bedspread is selected and the materials are purchased, you must:

  • study the drawing;

We collect loops on the lower right square of the bedspread

  • knit a small sample of the pattern, picking up and fastening the loops, in accordance with the scheme;

We knit the 2nd row until there are 2 sts left to the marker, we knit them together with the front one, we also knit the next 2 loops together with the front one and continue knitting to the end of the row

  • dial the amount indicated in the scheme, remembering that the first and last are not included in the bill;

3rd row and the rest of the purl rows knit facial

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until there are 2 loops left on the needles, cut the thread, leave the tail of medium length

  • knit each row, strictly following the pattern;

The 2nd square will join the left edge of square 1

We collect loops along the edge of the square and the same number

  • connect the strips of the product by sewing or knitting connections;

We knit the 1st (purl) row of facial, and then continue knitting in the same way as we knitted the 1st square

We continue knitting motifs similarly to square 2

  • after finishing the work, process the edges.

The final stage - decoration

To give the product a finished look, after completion of work, you can start finishing. This is a mandatory procedure, because the blanket must be beautiful and durable. You can decorate it according to your taste.

Some craftswomen use various fabrics for decoration, which are placed along the edge of the product or on certain parts of its surface, as well as from the wrong side. In the latter case, the bedspread will not be in direct contact with the body or bedding.

  4. Blanket for the couch

Sewing a blanket with your own hands upholstered furniture means saving Money not only one-time (prices for stylish bedspreads in stores cause tetanus), but also in the long term - a bed, sofa or chair under a bedspread will last much longer. The possibility of creative self-expression is also important here: a unique and inimitable product in the house is a sign of the skill and good taste of the owners.

Capes for furniture come in varying degrees of complexity and complexity. It is best to start protecting furniture and giving it identity from the bed. It is easier to sew a bedspread on the bed with your own hands, and it also expresses the mastery of the hostess in all its glory thanks to the large visible surface. At home, having at your disposal sewing machine and the usual tool for needlework, it is possible to sew bedspreads and lush, pompous, and laconic-elegant, see fig.

The use of modern textile materials (see below) allows you to get around the main difficulty in sewing bedspreads at home - the large size of the finished product. A 2x2.5 m bedspread can now be sewn without a cutting table and other sewing production equipment, see for example. video in 2 parts:

About fabric

Another way is color sorting, i.e. you need to disassemble the patches by color, say, in 4 tones, spread out so that everyone is in sight, and sew, smoothly moving from color to color (see the figure on the left). In this case, the carrier base is not required. The flaps are sewn from the inside out, the folds are turned to the sides, the seams are ironed. The prefabricated piece is cut to size and a coverlet is sewn with an eversion, see above.

A much more spectacular patchwork coverlet can be sewn using the chaotic geometric assembly technique, which is also a kaleidoscope patchwork. It is named so because the principle of a kaleidoscope is used: a chaotic enumeration of any fragments gives a pattern that seems to have some meaning. First, fabric ribbons are sewn into strips (pos. 1 in the next figure). There can be 2-7 or more ribbons in a strip. Ribbons do not necessarily need to be solid, they can be sewn from small patches matched to the color tone and cut to size in width. The width of the entire strip W is taken to be 25-50 cm, so that it fits the width of the bedspread an integer number of times.

The next step - according to a template made of cardboard, plywood or hard plastic, squares, pos. 2. You need to cut with a roller cutter for fabric. Be careful with him, he is sharp, like a safety razor blade! The cut squares are laid on the edges, and then the squares are piled up and mixed well - for chaos. Without this, the pattern will come out boring. Next, from the squares, strips are sewn the width of the bedspread (pos. 3) and sewn together. The end result is something like the one in pos. 4.

If you allow some overspending of the material, then the pattern of the chaotic-geometric patchwork can be made more playful. To do this, you already need a template in the form of a square (pos. 5), and the original strips of tapes 1.5 W wide. The template is applied to the strip with a rotation at an arbitrary angle; you can - fixed, say, 15, 30 and 45 degrees, as in pos. 6. Each flap, after mixing, can lie in a strip for a bedspread in 4 positions, corresponding to a 90-degree turn, pos. 7. The result is a front surface like the one in pos. 8. Of course, the principle of ordered assembly is also applicable here, but then the angles of rotation of the template must also be fixed.

Note: it is easy to move from the technique of "striped chaos" to the technique of ordered geometric assembly. To do this, overlay squares are laid out until the desired pattern is obtained. Details for sewing bedspreads are taken from the layout one at a time. It is easier to move from the ordered geometric assembly to the detailed assembly, and many outstanding patchwork patterns have been created in it. Samples were covered with a patchwork of an ordered geometric assembly, see the following. rice.

Patchwork with fig

So, sometimes sewing designers secretly call names among themselves very beautiful and original bedspreads, the store prices for which are simply insane. Nevertheless, the "indecent" bedspread is quite within the power of beginners - there is a lot of manual work in it, but it is simple.

The consumption of fabric for a "fig" (actually - nodular, nodular patchwork) bedspread is added to the size of the bed in terms of half the width of the cut. Then the cut is cut into squares (see above); no need to wrap the edges! Next, see fig. after the list:

  1. In the center of each square, according to any round rigid template with a diameter of 7-15 cm, the contour of the knot (fig) is circled with a marker for fabric;
  2. The contour of the knot is overcast with a live thread, leaving tails of 20-25 cm each;
  3. The knot is pressed in. Just for fun: the "fig" cover is even more indecent than it seems, since it is most convenient to form the "fig" with the middle finger. The knot is either left unfilled (this is the fig), or after tightening (next point), its top is pressed in, sewn on - it turns out a rose - or a lump of synthetic fluff, a ball or a flat cake from holofiber is inserted into the knot until tight;
  4. The knot is tightened, the ends of the thread are firmly tied and cut off;
  5. Straighten the folds (see also below);
  6. For stitching into stripes, and stripes into a bedspread, the parts are fastened with pins, which are removed as the fabric moves under the foot of the machine.

Crease formation

To make the knotted bedspread look better, the folds of its fragments need to be dispersed more or less regularly. To do this, you need a square template with a side the width of the strip minus the diameter of the contour for the knot plus 2-4 cm. Each side of the template is marked with a marker into 4 equal parts. Details with ready-made knots are placed on the template, the folds are driven to the marks and swept away with 3-4 stitches. As a result of tailoring, the bedspread will look like approx. like the one on the right in Fig.

Patchwork and denim

Bags of old jeans are unlikely to be lying around at home, so the material for a denim patchwork should be saved. The simplest way to do this, cut jeans into rectangular pieces with sides that are multiples of 6 cm. Real jeans are not sewn to fit and have never been sewn. Their inventor Levi Strauss did not have a staff of qualified cutters, so the cutting mesh module took an extremely large one - 2 and 1/3 inches, or 5.92 cm. Matching the initial and cutting modules into flaps will give the least waste of material. Denim is a durable fabric, so 0.92 cm is enough for cutting and turning a seam, this gives a convenient working module of 5 cm.

Denim is not only durable, but also a warm fabric, so it is best to sew a denim bedspread in a single layer, without lining and stuffing, then it will fit in an apartment, and at the cottage, and for a picnic. There is no need to overstitch the edges of the denim patches. It is desirable to ruffle the lapels of the seams (see fig.), This will give 2 styles of bedspread design, because. The inside and the face of the jeans are not much different in appearance. Changing them is elementary: either one or the other side up.

Tousle the edges of the jeans with a steel brush-brush, bending the product along the frayed seam so as not to damage the main fabric. Kratsovka is needed for welding (locksmith), with rare bundles of straight wires (see the figure on the left). A brushing brush with a solid comb of fine twisted wires for cleaning power tools will get tangled in the fibers of the fabric and tear it.

If jeans are not enough

But what if there is not enough cash denim for the bedspread? Patchwork denim sets are on sale, but their prices are quite in line with demand. If you need to buy no more than 40% of the material by area, then a bedspread from old jeans can be sewn by adding to the jeans a fabric similar in properties to cotton - calico, baize, flannel. In this case, the denim squares must be cut so that the warp and weft are oriented diagonally (bottom left in the figure), otherwise the denim will pull the weaker fabric along with it.

The rest is clear from the figure: denim squares are framed with complementary fabric, these will be elements of the material. Elements are assembled by 4 (2x2) or 9 (3x3) into blocks of the first level, which are also framed with complementary fabric. In the same way, blocks of the 2nd level, 3rd, etc. are formed from the blocks of the first level, until the desired size of the bedspread is reached. It is also framed in its entirety with complementary fabric. The finished product looks very impressive, giving the impression of a 3D lattice, on the right in Fig.

Blanket for the couch

It is already more difficult to sew a bedspread on a sofa, but in this case the problem of seams visible on the face disappears - they are easy to disguise in inside corners piece of furniture. In general, a sofa cover is sewn in the same way as a cover or cape on furniture. Standard cutting - from 8 parts, without frills. The cover for the chair differs from it only in the width of the seat detail.

How the patterns of the bedspread for the sofa are built is shown on the left in fig. At the top right is a sizing chart for calculating fabric consumption, it will still be useful to us below. Details for the armrests are made in a mirror image, in the case when the wrong side and the face of the main fabric are distinguishable in appearance. If the armrests are without collapse, but you want their fashionable prefabricated facades (bottom right), then the patterns of their details should be widened anteriorly (shown by a pale outline).

Note: it is better to first cut out the details of the sofa cover from newspapers, old sheets, etc. waste material and try on in place to accurately fit curved contours.

Lazy but beautiful

There is another option for sewing a bedspread for a sofa from one piece of fabric. Its width must be at least dimension A in fig. above plus 30-40 cm, and the length - the sum of 2C + 2D + E + 40 cm. The fabric overrun will be large, and even more money, because. size A is rarely less than 2 m. Fabrics of large width per unit area are more expensive than the same standard width. However, this option should be kept in mind not only for the sake of its simplicity.

A master class on making a bedspread for a sofa from one piece of fabric is shown in fig. In the oval at pos. 3 - seams; they are marked in place after tightening by hand. In the oval at pos. 4 - pushpins with which the fabric is temporarily attached to the armrests. The wings at the back (pos. 5) and the trimming of the frill (pos. 5, 6) are made in place; the latter - with the help of a wide elastic band for underwear. The undoubted advantage of this bedspread is that the sofa covered with it can stand not only against the wall, but also in the middle of the room; backstage is quite decorative.

The interior of the bedroom should not only be conducive to sleep, but pleasing to the eye in the daytime. How to achieve this? Thoroughly approach the issue of bedroom decor. The choice of textiles plays a paramount role here.

The snow-white bedspread will be the perfect complement to any interior!

The most important place in the bedroom is the bed, which means that its decor will attract maximum attention. How to make a bed attractive? Put an interesting cover on it.

A handmade bedspread will fill the bedroom with comfort and warmth.

In stores it is difficult to find a blanket that you will immediately like, naturally fit into the interior of the room, and will perform the necessary functions. It is not always possible to order tailoring of textile components of the interior in the atelier. That's why great solution The question will be to sew a bedspread on the bed with your own hands.

Sewing a bedspread is not difficult if you have the basic skills of cutting and sewing. After all, any bedspread of a simple cut is a simple rectangle of fabric.

A baby blanket should be soft and pleasant in texture.

An ordinary piece of matter of the right size must be processed in such a way as to obtain the desired result. The bedspread can be light, flowing, unlined or thoroughly dense, with stitches. In addition, a banal rectangle can be decorated: supplemented with a frill, ruffles, decorative stitching, embroidery, appliqué and get a unique bedspread.

The bedspread should be chosen based on personal preferences, the general style of the room, the purpose of this textile element.

Everyone chooses the style and design of the bedspread for themselves.

A double-sided bedspread would be a great solution. If at the same time the sides are made of a single fabric, then using it is extremely simple. There will be no need to worry about which side to place it on the bed. When turnovers from different pattern, then it will be possible to change the look of the bedroom according to mood, covering the bed in different ways.

Choose the fabric that will give you only a comfortable feeling during operation.

The bedspread, decorated with various decors (ribbons, lace, puffs, flounces), will give the room incredible comfort, create a romantic atmosphere. At the same time, the abundance of textile components in the lower part performs a practical function - it hides the bed frame.

Silk bedspread is stylish, fashionable and elegant!

A bedspread made of smooth satin, silk fabric or a tapestry version will bring sophistication to the room. Chic, pomposity will add the use of shiny fabric, gilded finish.

A bedspread with a thick pile, made of wool, fur will perfectly cope with the task of additional insulation, give softness, comfort to the room.

A quilted bedspread will protect from the cold, create a homely, well-groomed environment, an atmosphere of warmth and comfort.

Complex models of bedspreads will require more effort and skills from the seamstress.

ADVICE. It is better for a craftswoman with minimal experience to choose models of bedspreads without frills, fabrics that do not require special attention to work. An excellent option would be cotton, blended fabrics of medium density.

The better the fabric, the more pleasant it will be to use the bedspread later.

Choose a color

The color scheme of the product should match the style of the room, but may be seasonal, take into account the illumination of the room, its size.

The type of fabric for the bedspread should also be selected based on seasonality.

  1. The bedspread should not give the impression of contrast, unless it is an intended design technique. In a small room, the bed should not be a bright spot, otherwise it can give the illusion of filling the entire space. It is better to choose a beautiful bedspread similar in color to the trim and surrounding objects.
  2. Bedroom lighting, primary and secondary colors are also of no small importance. It is preferable to dilute the gloomy atmosphere with a warm, light palette of shades. With good lighting, general warmth, it is permissible to show great imagination in choosing the color of the bedspread.
  3. Cold shine, overflows are appropriate only in a large room, preferably in the summer. Otherwise, the supposed chic will become an inappropriate farce.
  4. The diversity of the interior is facilitated by fabrics containing patterns, the use of decorative elements in the decoration of the bedspread.
  5. Warm colors always bring freshness, create comfort. Pastel colors can make a visual expansion of the boundaries of the room.

Heavy bedspreads are best used in larger bedrooms.

Getting ready to sew

When the choice of model, type of fabric, color is made, it is necessary to decide what will be needed in the work, and how to sew a bedspread on the bed with your own hands. The first thing to consider when sewing a bedspread is the consumption of fabric. To do this, you need to make simple measurements.

The gentle coloring of the bedspread absolutely always gives lightness to the whole room!

Determine the size of the bedspread

Calculate fabric consumption

For calculation required amount fabric needs to know its width. If it is 1.4 m., then for a bedspread on a double bed, you will have to cut out 2 parts of the main fabric and grind them together. This is not always acceptable for the aesthetics of the finished product. Therefore, it is advisable to take care of the required width of the fabric in advance.

A lot depends on the choice of the initial cut scheme, try to choose the ideal one for your bed.

The fabric for the top of the bedspread is easy to calculate: you need to know the length, width, add a few extra centimeters to them. The consumption of fabric for a frilled bedspread should be taken into account with the calculation of the folds, if they are required to be laid. If available, the length of the strip must be additionally multiplied by 1.5.

An ideal and well-thought-out pattern for a bedspread - you just have to substitute your values.

With a fabric width of 2.8 m, 1 length of the product will most likely be enough. The frills in this case should fit into the remnants of the fabric from the width. If the fabric is 1.4 m, then it is necessary to lay 2 lengths of the main fabric and the total length of all sides with a frill. In this case, the fabric consumption is significant, and the quality of the bedspread will suffer due to additional seams.

Choose for sewing bedspreads the fabric with which it will be easier for you to work during the sewing process.

We cut and sew

Having completed the preparation of the necessary materials, we proceed to the most important - cutting out for sewing bedspreads. The selected material directly affects the complexity of subsequent actions. With light, sliding fabrics (silk, satin), extreme care is needed when cutting and then sewing the product. Stitch formation will bring additional difficulties.

You can decorate your bedspread with a neat frill, which will always add appearance your bed elegance.

ADVICE. The presence of a complex pattern on the fabric requires precise adjustment of the elements in the process of cutting and sewing. The choice of a monophonic material will greatly facilitate the work.

Patchwork quilts are becoming more and more popular every year.

The best way to cut is to fold the fabric in half so that the length of the main fabric is half along the fold line. You can set the width in the same way. Then thoroughly smooth the fabric, chop it with pins. Cut to carry out exclusively on a flat surface, do not allow cutting materials on weight.

Even a quilted bedspread can look different, depending on the pattern you choose.

The frill does not have to be made in one piece. You can use the resulting remnants of the fabric. It is important that all typesetting strips are cut in the same direction (along or across).

To create a patchwork bedspread, select pieces of fabric that match each other in color and texture.

If the bedspread assumes the presence of a lining fabric, they are cut out of a synthetic winterizer layer by analogy with the main details. In the process of stitching, they are combined into a whole blanket. If there is a pattern on the fabric, it must also be taken into account when cutting.

Bright blankets for sleeping beds will always charge you with positive energy before going to bed.

Next comes the timegrind all the details together. Using a sewing machine, we connect the base of the bedspread with a frill. To do this, we place the details with the wrong side up, we lay the seams along the edges. Do not forget to lay folds, if they are provided by the model. It is easy to sew a bedspread without unnecessary details. If there is a lining, insulation, it is necessary to fold all layers evenly together, then sew.

A patchwork quilt is best created from not very bright cuts of fabric.

ADVICE. Additional parts are best pre-cut with pins along with the main ones, or perform manual basting seams.

If there is a stitch, you should first sew its seams, then stitch the main elements. If there is no experience, then the seams of the stitches are best done manually first.

For a children's bedspread, you need to choose not only a pleasant color, but also high-quality natural material.

Trial version

When you do not have sufficient experience in sewing, taking on responsible work is always scary. Especially if the choice fell on complex fabrics or models of bedspreads. In this case great option will sew a trial version with their own hands.

Everyone can create beautiful bedspreads with their own hands, the main thing is to recharge with a lot of desire.

This is a great way to create a beautiful bedspread from simpler materials, practice making even seams, laying folds, stitching, and taking into account the pattern.

ADVICE. good training option there will be a patchwork coverlet. This technique requires painstaking work, but it gives invaluable experience.

Children's bedspread complemented with accessories-toys in the same theme.

Finished products can be used in the country, in the children's room. The skills of creating a bedspread with your own hands will undoubtedly come in handy in the future. How to sew a bedspread on a bed- will not occur again.

Sleeping beds can be supplemented with bedspreads that go with water color scheme with bed linen.

I found an interesting master class on the net on how to update an old sofa. Perhaps someone will come in handy? I presented such an updated sofa in the country - I think it will look quite cozy and pretty!

A bedspread is a great way to change a boring interior! With the onset of summer, paint the house in bright colors! - And the mood will rise and the enthusiasm will increase!
On the Internet, I somehow stumbled upon this photo:

From the drawing it is quite clear how the coverlet is simply made, but I still could not help but make adjustments.)))
It was described in the article that the lower (purple) fabric completely covers the sofa from all sides, but it seems to me that this is superfluous - because it will not be visible at all, and you will have to spend decently! In addition, such frills can be achieved in a different way - by simply sewing the “base” fabric to the bedspread in the missing places))) In general, like this:

There is very little work to make such a bedspread.- cut the fabric to size, process the edges, insert the eyelets and you can try on a new thing on your favorite sofa! As garters, you can use tie-backs with tassels for curtains, etc. (now these paraphernalia are full stores) at your discretion.

Before you start sewing bedspreads, you should decide: with the texture, colors and how the finished bedspread should look like in the end: will it have a lining, bows, beautifully flowing frills or other additional elements.

When buying, it is better to take fabrics 30 cm more. than necessary and wash it before opening it, in this case, you can be sure that the sewn bedspread will fit your sofa.

It is not difficult to sew a simple bedspread on a sofa with your own hands.

Starting cutting, you need to prepare:

white chalk (or the old-fashioned bar of soap),

5:274 5:292

the longest ruler or tailor's centimeter,

5:397 5:415 5:431 5:445 5:448

For the correct cutting, we measure the length, width and height of the sofa. Then add the length and width measurements, add two height measurements to the results obtained.

For example, the length of your sofa is 192 cm, width 153 cm, height 42 cm, 192 + 153 + 42 + 42 \u003d 429 cm, to these dimensions we add 3 cm for allowances (seams) to the length and the same to the width, the resulting figure is the size required material and cover accordingly.

Using a tape measure, measure and cut the rectangle to the required size. Fold the fabric over the edges and secure with pins or simply baste with loose stitches. Sew the seams on the sewing machine.
