Especially, our children, who love sweets so much, will be happy with such a delicacy. Let's make a beautiful and delicious orange peel jam. Why throw away orange peels if you can make not only jam from them, but also fragrant candied fruits that will come in handy for making sweet pastries.

You can decorate cake, cupcakes, ice cream with orange curls. And if you are a big fan of jam, then you can just use a spoon, preferably a large one. So let's start.

We will use the following ingredients: orange, water, sugar, lemon juice.

First, let's prepare the fruit. Rinse well under running water. Since our oranges are imported, they are treated with special substances. To do this, pour boiling water over the fruit and dry it. With a sharp knife, make cuts from the top stem to the bottom, and remove the zest. We remove the white part from the skin, as it gives bitterness. Cut orange peels into long strips.

We put it in a suitable deep container, pour cold water and leave it for a while. It is very convenient to leave it overnight, but the downside is that you need to change the water 2-3 times. The crusts can be soaked for up to two days.

Now we drain all the water. Take a strip of orange peel and wrap it in a roll. We put on a needle and thread. We press tightly to each other so that they do not turn around.

We lower the orange rolls into a saucepan, pour cold water. Bring to a boil. Cook for about 20 minutes, from the moment of boiling. Drain and refill with cold water. We send to the fire. We do this procedure, in general, 5 times. We place the rolls in a colander and leave for a while to glass the water.

Pour water into a saucepan and add sugar. Bring to a boil. Drop the orange rolls. We first remove the thread, since then it will be very inconvenient to remove it. Bring to a boil. Cook over low heat for about 30 minutes. After cooling down to room temperature.

Add lemon juice. And cook for another 30 minutes.

Orange peel jam is ready.

Cool, store in a clean, dry jar in the refrigerator.

Happy tea!

If you're used to throwing orange peels away, then know that they can be used to make wonderful golden jam with swirls. If you put this delicacy on the guests' table, and even in a beautiful vase, tea drinking will be much more pleasant and the guests will be delighted. A barrel of orange sweets can be presented as a gift, you can not only surprise them, but also please them. Be patient, take the time and create a fragrant orange peel jam that you won't find in any store.

Ingredients:

  • peels of 2-3 oranges;
  • granulated sugar - 250 grams;
  • juice - 1/4 of a lemon;
  • water - 150 ml.

How to make orange peel jam:

Oranges should be washed well with water to remove the wax that fruits are treated with during transportation.
Carefully remove the skin and place the skins in a bowl. We fill everything with water and keep it in it for 4-5 days. Water must be changed at least 4 times a day. This method will help rid future jam of bitterness.

Prepared crusts should be cut into long strips.

Jam can be cooked from crusts in this form, but it is better to make curls from strips. To do this, carefully roll each strip into a spiral.

So that the spirals do not turn around, we put them on a thread with a needle, we get beads from curls.

Now we cook the syrup, for which we need sugar and water. The syrup boil time is about 10 minutes.

When it acquires a thicker consistency than just water, we throw prepared chains of crusts into the syrup and simmer for half an hour over low heat.

When the time is up, the jam can be turned off and cooled slightly.

At this stage, you need to drain all the liquid and free the spirals from the threads, otherwise the jam will thicken and it will no longer be possible to separate the curls.

Now once again we shift the spirals into syrup, add lemon juice and boil for another 15 minutes.

Lemon juice will set off the taste of jam, and it will not be too cloying. In the process of cooking, the crusts become transparent right before your eyes and acquire an amber hue.

The finished orange peel jam has a pleasant citrus aroma and a beautiful golden color.

It can be served not only for tea drinking, but also use orange curls to decorate various desserts and pastries. It remains to pour the dessert into sterilized jars and roll it up, or serve it with tea with cookies or a loaf, like.

Bon appetit!!!

Sincerely, Maria Alexandrovna.

Wonderful orange peel jam, also called curls. Why curls, the name comes from the method and form of cutting the orange peel?!

orange curls- this is a sweet and fragrant jam, which is served with tea, both as a delicacy and decor for confectionery. Decorative crusts will decorate cakes, pastries, ice cream, jelly, mousse, giving the dish aesthetics, special taste, aroma and complete look.

Also, this dessert can be made from citrus peels of any kind. We do not need the pulp, only peels will go into business. You also need freshly squeezed lemon juice. If you don't have a lemon, replace it with citric acid by adding it to the tip of a knife.

Products for jam:

  • Orange (citrus) - 3 pieces;
  • Water - 300 ml;
  • Sugar - 300 g;
  • Lemon juice - 1 table spoon.

How to make orange peel jam

Wash oranges thoroughly and pour boiling water over them, because for long-term storage, oranges are treated with a special agent for better transportation. After treatment with boiling water, cut each fruit into four parts. You can eat the pulp or make another dish, and peel off the white inner layer, because it is bitter.

Peeled orange peels cut into strips, put in a bowl and pour cold water. Leave to stand overnight, but can be several hours. Soaking is necessary to get rid of bitterness that may remain in the jam, so it is better to soak longer. It is recommended to change the water several times.

The crusts from the water curl up a little, which is just on hand. After draining the water, you need to prepare a needle and a strong thread. Insert the thread into the eye of the needle and pierce the twisted strips of orange peel with it, thereby fixing it to make curls. And so on until the crusts run out, long beads are obtained from the crusts.

We put orange beads in a saucepan, fill with water, cook them after boiling for 20 minutes over medium heat. After draining the water, fill it again with cold water, repeat the procedure 5 times.

We take out the beads and let the orange peels drain until all the water has drained.

In a saucepan with 300 ml of water, add sugar to make syrup. We put on the stove with fire, prepare the syrup, bring to a boil, now add orange peel beads. It is better to remove the curls from the thread immediately (then it will be more difficult to do this, they will stick to your hands) cook for half an hour over medium heat. Cool the jam (candied orange), then add lemon juice and boil for half an hour. Everything unusual orange jam ready.

The jam is original, beautiful and fragrant!

Smart, knowledgeable and bright minds recommend starting preparations for the New Year with a list - whom, how, with what and when you plan to congratulate. The idea is wonderful, but sometimes the result is terrible: realizing that you have fifty people around you, whom you definitely want to congratulate on the upcoming holidays, and not just a “naked” SMS, but somehow more significantly, you can get scared and run away for a couple winter months to get lost in the deserted Himalayas, where you hardly have to give someone something, choose the right cognac or look for mother-of-pearl buttons.

In order not to be so scary, you can get out of the situation with the help of handmade gifts: a postcard, a handmade candle or a cotton snowman created by your child is also an option, no doubt. Also great to cook. delicious jam- from orange peels, for example, which you can not buy in any supermarket. My oranges. Without fanaticism, without thinking about the fact that fruits are treated with terrible poisons and poisons, just wash well.

    We clean - cut from top to bottom, then from bottom to top along the circumference. Do the same again - so that the orange peel is divided into four parts. We divide each segment in half, and then into three more parts. As a result, you will have many, many thin stripes. Carefully remove them from the oranges, put them in a large bowl, fill with cold water. We put the bowl near the sink and at each approach and opportunity we change the water in orange skins. The more often, the better. We soak for a day, maybe a little more.

    We stock up on patience and cut off the white part from each piece of orange peel with a knife, which is hidden on the inside.

    We turn each strip into a spiral and string it on a thread.

    Very positive orange beads are obtained, which can be put on a battery and dried - it will original garland on the tree Oh no! It turns out the beads, which must be put in a saucepan, pour ice water, bring to a boil and cook over low heat for 15 minutes. We still make jam - from orange peels of these very ones.

    Drain the water after the specified time. Fill with new.

    We repeat the algorithm three times, each time pouring cold water over the orange skins. We also drain the last water.

    Syrup is not an easy moment. If you cook liquid, there will be spirals in the compote. Delicious, but not the same. If you overdo it, you will get candied fruits in caramel, which you have to bite off from the can. Healthy, but not aesthetically pleasing.

    Therefore, pour water into a wide saucepan, add sugar, bring to a boil, reduce the heat to medium and wait near the stove. Periodically drip syrup on a plate and check the degree of readiness. It is convenient to focus on the dryness of the droplet - if after a minute you can touch the droplet and your finger remains dry, then the orange syrup is most likely just ready. Turn off, wait for cooling, add lemon juice.

    Pour the spirals with syrup, bring the jam to a boil, turn it off, carefully remove the threads.

    Pour orange peel jam into pre-sterilized jars.

    We close, draw labels and delight loved ones for the New Year!

And you can still cook according to the old Soviet recipe.
