Roof decking is a building material made of sheet metal. It has a wave shape in cross section of symmetrical ridges (corrugations) of a trapezoidal or rounded shape, giving lightness and strength to the structure.

The low end of the profile is often referred to as the sole or bottom shelf, while the top is often referred to as the ridge or top shelf.

They are made from cold-rolled rolled metal with a thickness of 0.3-1 mm with various protective coatings.

In this article, we will look at how to properly screw onto the roof and how many roofing screws are required per 1 m2 of corrugated board.

Roofing is considered to be corrugated board in which:

  • thickness metal not less than 0.7 mm;
  • height corrugations not less than 35 mm;
  • available impact resistant coating solar radiation, precipitation and mechanical damage;

For the roofing of the roofs of residential buildings, HC35 and HC44 corrugated boards are used. But in those regions where a large amount of snow falls in winter, H60 or H75 is recommended - they have the side walls of the wave crest reinforced with an additional stiffener, and in the middle of the shelf there is a longitudinal chute for draining melt water.

Unlike metal tiles, corrugated board has a uniform profile along the entire length of the section and can fit on shed roof with a small slope angle - 6-11 °.

  • at height profile 35 mm(HC35) and tilt angle up to 15º - up to 0.5 m, more than 15º - 1 m;
  • at height profile 60 mm(H60) and the angle of inclination from 8º - no more than 3 m;
  • at height profile 70 mm(H75) and the angle of inclination from 8º - no more than 4 m;

NOTE!

Between the crate and waterproofing there must be a ventilation gap. To create it, a counter-lattice is equipped with rafter strips or metal girders fastened along the rafters.

What kind of self-tapping screws to fasten the corrugated board to the roof?

Self-tapping screws for corrugated roofing are made of high-carbon steel and covered with high-quality galvanizing. They are equipped with a special high-strength washer and a plastic gasket (EPDM), isolating the edges of the hole from water ingress and contact with the screw head. The head of the self-tapping screw itself has a wide hex head with a metric size M8.

When installing a roof use three types of self-tapping screws with a diameter of 4.8 mm, which differ in their purpose:

  • for fastening in the lower shelf(sole) of the corrugated board profile to the crate 35 mm long with a thinner tip in the form of a narrowed drill and a wide thread pitch;
  • for fastening sheets on the top shelf of the comb 20 mm long with a wide drill-shaped tip and fine thread pitch;
  • for attaching ridge rails– length from 50 to 80 mm.

Roofing screws

Consumption of roofing screws per 1 m2 of corrugated board

Usually fastening is carried out in increments of 0.5 m. With sheet sizes 8 by 1.1 meters by one square meter there will be 4 screws. But the lower edge of the first row of the roof and the overlap zone of the subsequent rows are recommended to be fixed to each lower profile shelf.

The edges of the sheets facing the gables of the roof are recommended to be fastened at intervals of 200-300 mm. Side overlaps, end and ridge strips also increase the amount of fasteners required.

On average, 8 self-tapping screws of all sizes are consumed per 1 m² of roofing corrugated board. Approximately four of them are 35 mm long, two are 20 mm long, and two more are 50 mm or more. You should not use these values as final, as many self-tapping screws are rejected during the installation process.

A more accurate calculation depends on overall dimensions sheet, roof slope, metal thickness, as well as the number of roof slopes.

How to properly fix the corrugated board on the roof with self-tapping screws

Properly screwed self-tapping screw does not deform the pressure washer in the opposite direction, but at the same time tightly presses the gasket to the metal, leaving no gaps and crevices. The axis of rotation of the screw must be strictly perpendicular to the surface of the metal. So, let's take a closer look at how to fix the corrugated board on the roof with self-tapping screws:

  • How to attach to the roof sheathing? Fastening the first sheet of corrugated board to the crate begins on the left side of the bottom row. It is made with an overhang of 4 cm above the edge of the roof and an allowance of 15 cm for the next row. Fastening at the bottom of the sheet should be done "through the wave"- in each lower shelf (sole) of the profile in contact with the crate - the strength of the entire roof structure depends on this. To avoid distortion, the sheets should be carefully aligned with the eaves.
  • The next sheet is laid with a side overlap in one wave(for low-profile sheets - in two waves) onto the previous sheet, so that the edge passes and is fastened with short self-tapping screws in increments of 300 mm along the crest of the wave (this prevents water from flowing). It is also recommended to tighten the fasteners with a deviation of 50 mm towards the overlap in order to tightly join the sheets into the lower flange of the upper sheet.
  • The middle part of the sheet is fixed in a checkerboard pattern with a step through two waves, which corresponds to 500 mm.

Laying corrugated board

CAREFULLY!

Self-tapping screws must be screwed strictly at right angles to the surface. Excessive force when twisting can lead to deformation and peeling of the protective coating of the corrugated sheet. It is best to use special screwdrivers for this operation.

  1. The second and subsequent rows are laid with an overlap of 10-20 cm on the previous one. Self-tapping screws in the overlap zone are also twisted through one wave. When determining the width of the overlap zone, it should be borne in mind that the higher the roof ridge and the larger, the less overlap is made.
  2. The upper edge of the last row of sheets adjacent to the roof ridge is fixed through a wave.
  3. At the second stage, end and wind strips, chimney aprons, are fixed. At the same time, they are fastened with self-tapping screws 50-90 mm long and with a fastening step of up to 300 mm. If the end plate consists of several additional elements (which is highly undesirable), then an overlap of 100 mm must be observed.
  4. The final stage is the installation of the roof ridge. The skate is a profile of a special shape, having two shoulders 100-300 mm wide. Its purpose is to protect the roof from moisture ingress into the under-roof space and to give additional structural rigidity.
  5. It is necessary to make sure that the mating edges of the roof slopes have a difference in height of no more than 2%. A larger value causes deformation under the action of wind and the weight of snow and the formation of cracks.

Sheet fixing

Start laying the skate from the end, opposite to the prevailing wind. The overlap of the additional elements is made the same as that of the end strips. Rain and melt water gets under the ridge through the gaps of the lower shelves of the corrugated board.

Therefore, special sealing gaskets are placed under the shoulders of the skate, repeating the shape of the profile. Self-tapping screws up to 80 mm long twist along the lower edge of the shoulder of the skate with an indent of 3-4 cm through the upper shelves(ridges) corrugated boarding waves into the crate.

Wind bar attachment

It is superimposed on top of the final rows of sheets and using the “through the wave” method fasten with ridge screws up to 80 mm long to the crate through the upper shelves of Vkontakte

To carry out fastening of corrugated board with self-tapping screws on the roof, it is used special technology, thanks to which the roof can be flawlessly operated for up to half a century.

In most cases, the choice of corrugated board for roofing is determined by the versatility of the material. It is characterized by good strength and high resistance to the negative effects of natural phenomena, which allows you to get a reliable and durable roof. In addition, profiled metal sheets are distinguished by a durable color that does not fade under the influence of sun rays. This saves on paint.

Types of self-tapping screws used for fastening profiled sheets

Metal roofing screws are used as fasteners for corrugated board, they also fasten roofing metal tiles. The choice of fasteners is absolutely independent of the type of crate and the material of its manufacture; in any case, high-quality self-tapping screw screws are used, equipped with sealing rubber elements.

If the installation is carried out with screws that are not intended for fixing the corrugated board, the result may be loosening of the fasteners and corrosive deposits. Of course, corrosion can be prevented if the holes around the fasteners are sealed with sealant.

A design feature of the self-tapping screw is a tip in the form of a drill, which eliminates the need for pre-preparation of holes.

The presence of a rubber seal on each screw makes the attachment point completely sealed.

If we talk about sizes, then the most popular are screws 4.8 * 28 mm, although the manufacturer offers fasteners with a length of 19-250 mm and a diameter of 4.8-6.3 mm.

For example, for fastening ridge elements, it is better to use self-tapping screws, the length of which reaches 80 mm. In general, the fastener must be 3 mm longer than the total thickness of the sheet, regardless of the scheme for fastening the profiled sheet with self-tapping screws on the roof.

The standard head of self-drilling screws has an optimal height, which allows the hardware to hold firmly in the screwdriver bit.

Rules for calculating self-tapping screws

To determine the number of fasteners, two schemes are used, unique and personal.

The unique scheme of fastening corrugated board with self-tapping screws on the roof allows you to perform calculations faster and easier, thanks to the constancy of numbers. With a slight wind load per 1 m 2, 4 self-tapping screws are taken. This amount is quite enough so that the sheets of corrugated board do not vibrate. In regions dominated strong winds, which will constantly affect the roof structure, 8 self-tapping screws are placed per square meter.

For example, we can take the following scheme: fastening of corrugated board will be carried out on roof slopes with a total area of 50 m 2 in a house located in an open, well-ventilated area. Taking into account the strong wind load, in order for the fastening of the metal profile to be sufficiently reliable, it is necessary to take 8 self-tapping screws per square meter of surface. By doing the appropriate calculations, the following result is obtained:

50*8=400 pieces.

When calculating, the required deviation of 5% should be taken into account, therefore, the following number of fasteners will be required for work:

400+5%=420 pieces.

A personal scheme for attaching a profiled sheet implies taking into account the total load on the roof. Features of the crate, roofing material and the purpose of the roof. In most cases, when fastening corrugated board to a metal crate, the step between the fasteners is 50 cm. Note that the distance between the corrugated board lathing is not constant. At minimum loads from the outside, this distance can be increased. Therefore, for each roof, the calculation is carried out individually.

Features of installation of corrugated board on the roof - scheme

In order to qualitatively perform the installation of corrugated sheets on the roof, it is important not only to be able to choose the right fasteners. You need to know how to properly screw the screws into the corrugated board when directly attaching this roofing material. This is very important for obtaining a strong and robust design. Let's figure out how to fix the profiled sheet on the roof with self-tapping screwsso that the fastening is reliable and durable.

To begin with, it is necessary to determine exactly for what purposes the roof will be used. After all, the roof attic floor it is arranged in a completely different way, in contrast to the cold attic space. It is possible that the corrugated board is planned to be used to cover the roof over the garage or some outbuilding (read also: ""). Therefore, the form roof structure, its area, the composition of the "pie", the amount of material and fasteners completely depends on the planned use of the roof.

As a roofing material, profiled sheets “H” of certain sizes are most often used, and the height and thickness of the wave is selected individually for each object.

In addition, for reliable fastening of the corrugated board on the roof, the distance between the screws is selected according to an individual plan.

After determining the required amount of material, you can proceed to direct installation, observing the following rules:

  • Start laying sheets from the bottom row along the cornice overhang.
  • The sheets of the first row should hang slightly from the roof to protect the walls from rain and snow.
  • Self-tapping screws are screwed strictly perpendicular to the surface. In this case, a simple canvas is fastened with self-tapping screws with a rubber gasket, and the installation of the valleys is carried out with a hardware with a tin seal.
  • It is allowed to pre-connect several sheets to each other and fasten the structure in blocks. Such actions somewhat speed up the work.
  • To resolve the issue with what step to fix the corrugated board, you should know that the profiled metal sheets are fixed with self-tapping screws between the waves. But the fastening of the skate is carried out on the crest of the wave.

Laying waterproofing and vapor barrier

For the reliability and durability of the roof, it is necessary to install a waterproofing and vapor barrier material.

Waterproofing is laid between the elements of the crate and corrugated board directly on the insulation (if it is intended to be used) to protect the attic space and insulation from moisture. The lack of waterproofing leads to the fact that moisture is not removed from under the roof, but accumulates in the form of condensate on profiled metal sheets. The result of this is the formation of foci of corrosion and a decrease in the operational period of the roofing material.

The vapor barrier is laid under the insulation and prevents the formation of condensate, which always forms due to the temperature difference between the outer and inner sides of the roof.

By functional purpose buildings, the number of layers of the roofing cake is determined.

For example, residential facilities require vapor barrier, insulation, waterproofing and roofing material. For non-residential premises, it is sufficient to lay waterproofing material under the corrugated board.

Calculation of the distance and step of the crate for corrugated board

It is recommended to use wooden blocks as a crate for a corrugated roof over a residential building. The distance between them is determined by the angle of inclination of the slopes and the height of the wave of the profiled sheet.

In order to correctly choose the distance between the bars, the step of fastening the profiled sheet on the roof and fix it with high quality, you must adhere to the following recommendations:

  • With a roof slope of more than 15 0, the distance between the lathing bars can be 35-50 cm.
  • If the slopes have an angle of inclination less than 15 0, then it is recommended to use a continuous crate. In this case, sheets of roofing material can have a wave height of at least 20 mm. In addition, we must not forget that the laying of sheets should be carried out with an overlap of up to 20 cm.
  • If the slope of the slopes does not exceed 15 0, and the height of the sheet profile is 35 mm, then it allows you to take a step between the bars of 30 cm. In this case, the overlap of the material can reach 20 cm.
  • On a similar slope, profiled sheets with a wave height of 44 mm can be laid on a crate, the pitch of which is 50 cm and above.
  • With a slope slope of 20 0, the sheets are laid with an overlap of 10-15 cm on the crate in increments of 30-40 cm.
  • A slight angle of inclination, less than 12 0, requires additional use of sealant at the joints. In exceptional cases, the structure is fixed with metal rivets.

Causes of leaks with proper laying of corrugated board

Quite often, a situation arises when the fastening of the profiled sheet to the crate with self-tapping screws was carried out in accordance with all the rules, but leaks are found on the roof. The reason for this may be incorrect cutting of sheets.

The fact is that cutting metal profiled sheets is carried out with ordinary or electric metal shears, and for oblique cuts it is better to use an electric jigsaw.

The cut points are necessarily treated with a waterproof sealing compound, which prevents the formation of corrosive processes on the edges of the sheet.

If the corrugated board is fixed on metal girders, then you first need to drill holes for fasteners. After installing the fasteners, the remaining space is sealed with sealant.

If it is necessary to walk on corrugated roofing, shoes with soft soles should be used to prevent damage to the roofing material.

In case of accidental damage to the protective film of the profiled sheet, an anti-corrosion compound and moisture-resistant paint are used.

Profiled sheeting today is one of the best building materials, which is used not only for roofing, but for ceilings, walls, fences. Features of the material allow it to be used as building material for outbuildings, garages. But, as with any construction process, the main thing is to comply with the rules of installation. It is important to fasten the corrugated board correctly so that the sheet and its outer coating are not damaged.

Taking into account the height of the wave, the length of the self-tapping screw (L) is selected. It is calculated by the formula: L = L1 + H + L2, where L1 is the profile thread that enters the crate (about 2.5-3 cm), H is the height of the corrugation, L2 is the thickness of the washer and gasket (about 4 mm ).

Crate for corrugated board, what should it be?

In order to properly screw the profiled sheet, you will first have to make a crate of wood, that is, a frame of wooden beams. Particular attention is paid to ensuring that the pitch of the lathing is fully consistent with the type of corrugated board used. The step of the crate also depends on the angle of the roof, the main requirements here are as follows:

  • at an angle of inclination of the roof slope from 15 degrees, the crate is performed in steps of 35-50 cm;
  • at an angle of less than 15 degrees and using a C20 profiled sheet, the crate must be installed solid, that is, use a sheet of plywood or OSB for this; Laying of the crate is carried out with an overlap on a size equal to several waves of the profiled sheet;
  • when using a sheet of brand C35 with the same angle of inclination, the pitch of the crate should be up to 30 cm;
  • for the brand of profiled sheet C44 and more, the crate step should be from 50 cm.

Additionally, silicone sealants are used for fastening (for a roof slope of less than 20 degrees), special rubber gaskets that correspond to the shape and size of the waves.

Methods for fastening corrugated board

The profiled sheet must be fastened taking into account the purpose of the building:

  • fixing the sheet when performing roofing work;
  • fastening for protections, wall designs.

To do this, today a large amount of material is produced, specially designed for roofing, the construction of fences and outbuildings, facade and wall decoration, and for the construction of ceilings. The roofing and supporting profiled sheet is considered the most durable, which differs from others not only in height and wave shape, but also in the thickness of the metal.

The fastening itself consists in the fact that the profiled sheet is screwed to the base (batten, fence post) with special self-tapping screws. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that the fastening is carried out correctly, that is, the self-tapping screws must have a rubber gasket that does not damage the metal, enter the sheet evenly, without tilting, and not tighten too much. It is necessary to screw the fastening elements into the corrugated board correctly: into a wave, it is advisable to use special gaskets. But let's talk about this in more detail.

In order to properly attach a sheet of profiled metal, it is necessary to pay great attention to self-tapping screws. For this, special fasteners with rubber gaskets are used, which are suitable for fixing to the base of wall, roofing, bearing corrugated board. The screw head can have a polymer coating that matches the main sheet, that is, the coating is more decorative and attractive. The rubber gasket under the head prevents damage to the coating that the corrugated board itself has, moisture does not penetrate under it, that is, it creates reliable protection material.

The profiled sheet itself during fastening should lie flat, the screws should enter it perpendicularly, no distortions or distortions are allowed. This applies not only to roofing, but also to the moment when a fence is being built from profiled metal. In this case, the self-tapping screws must also be evenly attached to the sheet, without crushing or scratching it.

A correctly screwed self-tapping screw is located in a wave of material that is adjacent to the crate (but not close!) Or to the girders.

To a wooden crate or logs and ordinary self-tapping screws, but for metal logs only fasteners with a drill are used. If a fence is being constructed, then it is permissible to fix the sheets with rivets. Experts recommend not using ordinary aluminum, as they may not withstand wind loads, it is best to purchase steel.

In very rare cases, the installation of corrugated board is allowed to use welding. As a rule, this is done when installing floors or when it is necessary to fix the fence and the gate to it. In this case, all work will have to be carried out carefully, trying not to damage the protective coating of the sheet (galvanized, polymer layer), so that the corrugated board is not subject to corrosion. After completion of all welding work, it is necessary to cover the place where the welding took place with special anti-corrosion compounds to ensure protection.

How to calculate self-tapping screws for fasteners?

  • the perimeter of the entire coverage is calculated (it is also used for the roof, and when a fence is being built);
  • the result obtained must be divided by the width of the sheet (we take into account exactly how the profiled sheet will lie: if there is a joint, then its physical width is taken, if with an overlap - working);
  • the difference between the two fastening methods can be up to 10%, so be sure to take into account the rule of laying corrugated board.

We also take into account such a moment that in the places where the ridge is located, it is best to fasten the profiled sheet with a double number of self-tapping screws.

The standard number of hardware (or self-tapping screws, as they are also called), which is necessary for, is 8 pieces per square meter. m, while the calculation is equally suitable for both roofing and facade coatings. The fence is calculated in the same way (if it is hardware that is used, and not rivets, it is recommended to install them more often). The fastening step should be from 50 cm, but again it all depends on the location of the sheet.

When fastening to a fence, one more time is taken into account, such as wind loads in a given region. If it is necessary to install the structure in an area where such loads are large enough, then the step is made smaller, and the number of self-tapping screws increases.

Fastening on the roof of the profiled sheet

When attaching the sheet to the roof, the following sequence is observed:

  1. The sheets are laid out in the required order, the overlap must meet all the requirements, taking into account the slope of the slope. The largest overlap should be about 20 cm, with a small slope, a sealant is additionally used for sheet joints.
  2. All attachment points are marked, after which you can get to work.
  3. They always start from the bottom sheet, the screws are screwed into the wave, that is, into the profile cavity that each corrugated board has.
  4. For the ridge, self-tapping screws with a longer length are used, their number is almost doubled to ensure resistance to various loads and influences.
  5. If a profiled sheet with a small thickness is mounted on the roof, then before laying it is better to use special rubber gaskets that repeat the shape of the profile.
  6. When tightening the screws, it is necessary to control the force in order to prevent too tight fixation, this can damage the corrugated board.

Fastening corrugated board to fences

If a fence is being built using a profiled metal sheet, then the fastening is carried out in a slightly different way. The sheet is fixed to the post and run, often 2-3 rows go for this, which allows for reliable fastening and resistance to wind loads. Fasteners should start from the end, each subsequent sheet is overlapped.

The joints should fall on the support pillars, that is, their step should be calculated in advance. Before screwing in the screws, it is necessary to process the joints with sealants. Hardware is screwed into the fence in the same way as for the roof, it is better to use special self-tapping screws with rubber gaskets for this.

Decking, which is quite often used in construction, is universal. It can also be used in the construction of fences, garages, for laying on the roof. The installation of sheets is quite simple, but the main thing here is to use special self-tapping screws, follow the rules for screwing, and avoid kinks and distortions of the fasteners.

The professional flooring is the demanded material applied to different types of works. It can be used to build wall covering, fence or roof. It has many advantages and is available in various types. Its installation on the roof is considered a simple process, so many people prefer to fix the metal profile on the roof on their own. This will save significant cash, as well as fully control the process, so the absence of errors is guaranteed.

Material parameters

Profiled sheet is often used to form roofing, as it produces a coating that does not have to be spent a lot of money, and at the same time it is of high reliability and quality. Serves long enough, so it is effectively used in private housing construction.

Important! Mounting the profiled sheet on the roof is so simple that it is not required to use any specialized tools for this process.

The roof turns out to be quite attractive, but to get a really high-quality and durable coating, you need to strictly follow the correct work technology, as well as take into account numerous rules that allow you to fix the profiled sheet reliably and competently.

The profiled sheet is represented by a special embossed metal sheet, which is produced using the cold-rolled method. High quality galvanized steel is used for its creation. A special coating of polymers or polyester is applied to it, which contributes to the formation of material resistance before the corrosion process. The material is produced in the form of sheets, which may have standard or unique individual sizes. The profile is shaped like a regular slate.

Important! The profiled sheet is considered a universal material, as it can be used in various areas of construction.

The material is presented in several forms:

  • Wall. Sheets of this type are used to finish the facade or create small structures, such as garages or other buildings. They are ideal for forming fences or other similar barriers that do not have any significant dimensions. They can be effectively used for the construction of formwork. Wall corrugated board has different parameters, and its thickness is considered the smallest in comparison with other types.
  • Carrier. This material is used to create high-quality roofing. Has a beautiful bearing capacity, and is also equipped with reliable stiffeners that increase the strength and resistance of the material to different types impacts.
  • Universal. Sheets of this type have a low price and optimal parameters. Can be used to create a roof, but only if the roof has a slight slope.

Important! Before direct work, it is required competently, as well as to prepare the basis, which is usually represented by high-quality wooden crate to which sheets are attached.

Choice of fasteners

Fastening the profiled sheet to the crate can be carried out using various fasteners, each of which has its own characteristics and parameters. The strength and durability of fixation depends on the competent choice of these items. If fasteners are chosen incorrectly, then the quality of fastening will be at a low level, and this will negatively affect the life of the roof.

Optimal options for commit are:

Important! If you use standard self-tapping screws for work, then these fasteners will not be able to last too long under the existing conditions, and also a small hat will help moisture penetrate into the under-roof space into the existing hole.

High-quality ones have different colors, which allows you to choose the best products for specific sheets that have a specific shade. It is not allowed to fasten the corrugated board with the use of welding or nails. High temperature contributes to the violation of the protective layer of the material, so the corrosion process begins on the sheets soon. Nails, on the other hand, will not be able to withstand strong winds, so there is a possibility that the sheets will be torn off the roof.

Rules for fixing sheets

It is not difficult to properly fix the corrugated board, if you carefully understand the features of this process. The safety of being in a structure with a corrugated roof depends on the quality of the work performed. If the process is carried out with serious irregularities, then this will lead to the fact that the coating will not last too long, and also will not be reliable.

How to fix corrugated board on the roof with self-tapping screws? This process must be carried out in accordance with the rules:

The length of the screws must correspond to the thickness of the profiled sheets, so the fasteners must be selected correctly for the material.

What you need to know in order to fasten corrugated board?

Thanks to such material as corrugated board, in a fairly short time, you can create a fairly attractive and fairly reliable fence, roof or facade structure.

That is why you should learn more about which fasteners to choose for corrugated board, how fasteners are calculated, and what are the nuances that should be taken into account.

Speaking about the correct fastening of corrugated board, it is necessary to place special emphasis on the simplicity of this fastening and the minimum set of tools that will be required. The material itself is quite economical. It will take only a minimum of costs in order to cover even large areas.

Methods for fixing this material and fastening elements for corrugated board are selected based on the type of workflow:

  • fence finishing;
  • roof installation.

It is useful to know that corrugated roofing is able to withstand the heaviest loads, because a special reinforced form is used in its manufacture. In this regard, reliable protection of the entire space under the roof and, accordingly, any room inside the structure is ensured.

All this has a positive effect on the popularity of profiled sheets, which are used for roofing. There are other factors that contribute to the great growth in the popularity of this building material:

  • extraordinary convenience and simplicity of the workflow;
  • high strength indicators;
  • ease of handling materials for construction;
  • light weight of the material.

Due to the fact that this material has a small weight, there is no need to strengthen load-bearing structure before attaching the corrugated board to the roof. This contributes to a significant reduction in the cost of roofing.

Even a person who absolutely does not have any building skills or special experience in matters related to construction can, if desired, fasten the corrugated board. In addition, this material is quite easy to cut and screw to most existing bases. Even severe frosts are not able to interfere with installation, which can be considered as an additional advantage.

Items you need:

  • several types of screws;
  • corrugated board;
  • clamps;
  • welding machine;
  • screwdriver;
  • sealant;
  • jigsaw or scissors for metal.

Methods for fixing profiled sheets

First of all, you should know that the correct screwing of the existing self-tapping screw is quite important. As fasteners for corrugated board of all types (from wall to roofing), you can use special self-tapping screws. If there is a desire to fix the corrugated board more aesthetically, it is necessary to use special self-tapping screws for metal tiles.

During manufacture, a special polymer coating will be applied to the heads of such self-tapping screws, whose color will need to be matched to the color of the corrugated board that is used.

Thus, the screws will be able to merge with the general background. Due to the rubber gasket, which is located under the very head of the screws, moisture will not penetrate under the profiled sheets directly at the attachment points themselves. Self-tapping screws must be screwed strictly perpendicular to the sheet surface so that no distortions are allowed.

It is important to note that the most the right way screwing in a self-tapping screw is screwing it into a wave that will be adjacent to the run or will not be adjacent to the crate.

Profile sheets are attached to wooden logs using the most common self-tapping screws, and in the case of fastening to metal logs, it is necessary to use special self-tapping screws, the design of which includes a drill. In some cases, rivets are selected as fastening of profiled sheets to the facade, roof or fence.

The transverse logs have the same appearance as the profile square pipe, to which the corrugated board will be fastened. Such logs are attached to the fence itself using clamps or by electric welding.

When such transverse lags are used during the construction process, this somewhat facilitates the main task, which is associated with fastening the corrugated board.

When a sufficiently short time is allocated for fixing the corrugated board, welding can be used to fix the profile sheets. However, during welding, it is necessary to carefully monitor that the protective coating of this material is not too disturbed due to the actions high temperatures, and after completion of work related to welding, it will definitely be necessary to do anti-corrosion treatment of the profile coating.

How to calculate the required number of self-tapping screws in order to fasten the profiled sheet?

The number of fasteners for corrugated board can be calculated in a variety of ways, based on a variety of factors.

It is possible to divide the total area that needs to be covered by the total area of one profiled sheet (in this case, the overlap must be taken into account), and then round the result to be obtained to a whole number.

It is possible to simply divide the total perimeter of the area being designed by the width of one profile sheet. If this is a fence that is joined, for the calculation it is necessary to take the installation width with the obligatory overlap. The general consumption rates of profiled sheets may differ slightly (approximately 10%). For wall and roof areas, on which the profiled flooring will be fixed, 8 self-tapping screws per 1 sq. m. However, it is recommended to double the number of screws close to the ends, slopes and ridge in order to be able to provide high reliability and resistance to existing wind loads.

In this case, the fastening step of the corrugated board is 50 cm.

The number of self-tapping screws that is necessary in order to complete the construction of the fence fence will depend on the height of the fence being made. In this case, the amount can be selected exclusively empirically.

How to properly fix the corrugated board on the roof?

It is necessary to know the main steps that must be followed in sequence in order to properly fix the corrugated board on the roof of an existing house.

First of all, the profile sheets are laid out in the required order in such a way that the amount of overlap of the profiled sheets depends on the angle of the roof slope that exists (the greater the slope, the less overlap is needed). The largest overlap will be approximately 20 cm and can be selected for a roof pitch that does not exceed 15°. However, when the slope exceeds 30°, the overlap will automatically be reduced to 15 cm.

If the roof slope is critically small (less than 10°), additional sealing of sheet overlaps must be performed.

Next comes the installation of the crate. The size of this element should be selected based on the roofing angle of the slope and the height of the wave of the corrugated board (the greater the indicator of the height of the wave and the roofing angle of the slope, the greater the step for the crate should be chosen). In addition, these indicators will affect the number of waves that the overlap includes. When the roof has small wave heights or a small slope, the overlap must necessarily include at least 2 waves.

When laying each subsequent row, an overlap of 20 cm must be observed.

Some nuances should be taken into account:

  • self-tapping screws should be screwed only in the profile cavity of the profiled sheet;
  • ridge screws differ from roofing screws in length;
  • when manual tightening of self-tapping screws is carried out, it is necessary to correctly calculate the force that is applied so as not to damage the insulation layer and prevent looseness of twisting.
