Events ”tested sledges of different types and found out which are the fastest, safest and most comfortable ones.

What to slide down the hill? Before, there were only three options: an aluminum sled, an ice bag and a bag full of snow. Now there are so many of these accessories in stores that their eyes run wide. The correspondent of the portal "Events" Daria Turtseva brings up two children, which means she owns almost a full range of skating facilities. Together with her family, she got out into the woods and made a big test drive.

"Cheesecake"

Snow tubes are also called "cheesecakes" for their shape - new recent years... The cost is from 800 to 2500 rubles. The price depends on the configuration. Last year we decided to save some money and just bought a rubber one. “Extra strong, reinforced construction” was written on the packaging. On the second day of "pokatushek" the "cheesecake" was cut on the sharp edge of the ice. The hole was sealed, but they did not take any more risks, this winter they bought a cover for it for another 800 rubles.

Pros:

Compact, easy to transport when folded, easy to store in summer - does not take up space on the balcony

The cheesecake rushes from the slope like a jet. It is a great pleasure for children and adults alike.

Minuses:

It is very difficult to inflate outside in winter, the rubber becomes "oak", the cold air does not fill the chamber well. We have never been able to pump it to the end on the street, and the dimensions of the car do not allow to carry it inflated from home.

Absolutely unguided projectile. On a bump, you can jump and fly out of it. It is impossible to brake - sitting inside, even my feet do not reach the ground, not to mention the children. It becomes scary when the "cheesecake" unfolds and you have to roll down with your back, because you don't see what awaits you further along the course.

Overall impression:

This is an extremely dangerous projectile, I would equate it with extreme sports. It is safe to ride a "cheesecake" only on a specially prepared track, where there are no holes and jumps. Otherwise, "pokatushki" can end with bruises and fractures.

Snow scooter

We bought a snow scooter three years ago at a sale for 350 rubles at a price of 2500 thousand. The fear of "cheap is bad" was not confirmed. During all this time, not a single breakdown. The operating instructions indicate a weight limit of 50 kilograms. But in fact, the snow scooter can withstand 70 and even 90.

pros

Controllability - thanks to the steering wheel, you can easily go around pits and bumps. There are brakes - a pedestrian who suddenly jumped out onto a snowy track will not be hurt if you press the pedals in time.

Stability. Despite the fact that the “driver” of the snow scooter sits high enough above the ground and it seems that falling from such a height is more dangerous than from flat ice, thanks to wide plastic skis it is almost impossible to turn the snow scooter over. In any case, we couldn't even do it on purpose.

Lovers of extreme sensations will appreciate the speed. As our test drive showed, the “cheesecake” and the snow-scooter fly off the slope at the same speed.

Minuses

It takes up a lot of space and is inconvenient to transport.

Great weight. Difficult to lift and carry.

It is inconvenient to use it as a sled (lead by the rope), because the child enjoys turning the steering wheel from side to side and turning in the wrong direction.

Overall impression:

In terms of comfort and safety, the snow scooter, I would put in first place. Excellent maneuverability and stability, the boys behind the wheel can feel like real drivers.

Ice cream

There are two types of ice cakes - small ones from our childhood and modern large ones, which even an adult can fit in. Small ones can be bought for 150-200 rubles. Large, depending on the material, cost from 400 to 800 rubles. The stronger the plastic, the more expensive it is.

pros

Primitive manageability. Own legs for both steering and braking. As a last resort, you can easily catapult out of the ice floes by simply falling to one side.

Develops a moderate speed - good for toddlers and adults who don't like thrills.

Multifunctionality. Can be used for descents from snowy slopes and from ice slides.

Can be used not only for outdoor activities, but also for transporting a child to kindergarten, for transporting firewood, snow and for other household needs.

Minuses

The speed is less than that of the "cheesecake" and the snow scooter.

Rigidity. You can jump on a bump and hit a great "fifth point" when landing.

Overall impression:

Big ice-cream showed the second fastest result. Small ones - the fourth, after a bag full of snow - the legs fall out of them and slow down. The main advantage is compactness and lightness, if there is no car, then such hand luggage will not burden you much on the way up the hill.

Package

A package, a piece of linoleum, a briefcase, after all. In my childhood, riding them was common. A piece of polyethylene helps out now. The time-tested shell also took part in our test drive.

pros

Price. In the bins of each apartment, you can find a large, durable bag. If not, then you can buy building materials in a hypermarket, it costs a penny.

Compactness. Easy to fit into a handbag and even a pocket. You can always carry it with you.

Minuses

The speed depends on the quality of the coating. If it is icy and perfectly flat, then good. If there is snow, and even with holes, you won't go far, you will sit in the very first one.

All bumps and bumps will leave a memory of themselves in the form of bruises on the priest and back.

Overall impression:

Practice has shown that it is best to ride a bag full of snow. It took me about 10 minutes to fill. The first descent turned out to be simply enchanting. The package lost in speed only to the "cheesecake" and the snow-scooter. We came to the finish line with a competitor on big ice floes almost simultaneously. But the most interesting was ahead. While everyone else easily rolled their vehicles uphill, I barely trudged with a package full of heavy sleet. After the second run, I decided to empty the bag in half. A surprise was in store here too. Under the weight of the rider, the snow moves to the sides, as a result, the “fifth point” had to count all the bumps on the mountain. For the third time from the snow in the bag, I decided to get rid of completely, because there is still no sense from it. But the empty packet showed poor speed.

Soft ice and so-called "podzhopniki"

Soft ice cakes are made of polypropylene. From above, for better gliding, covers are put on them from an awning or banner fabric... Very small ones cost 200 rubles. There are bigger ones, like a surfboard, these can be bought for 800.

pros

Strength. It will not crack like a plastic ice cube in severe frost.

Compactness. Easy to store and transport.

Ease. Even a kid can drag her up a hill or slope.

Multifunctionality. It can be used both on snowy and icy slopes and on children's metal or wooden slides. This ice cube can be used as a swimming board in summer.

Minuses

Not suitable for very young children. There is no back and sides - it is difficult to maintain balance.

There is no place to rest your legs, you have to lift up above your head, so as not to slow down or move out lying on your stomach, head first.

Overall impression:

Small soft ice floes showed the worst speed. All because the legs get in the way, which have nowhere to put. Large ice floes ride well both on ice and snow surfaces. On bumps, they don't fly as high as regular ice floes, but a hard landing is felt, even despite the soft construction.

Plastic sled

Despite the fact that the sled is plastic, it is very durable. They have been serving faithfully for more than 5 years. There are models that are equipped with an additional seat for babies.

pros

Warm. For some reason, even in cold weather, the plastic remains warm enough. It is pleasant to sit on it and touch it with your hands. Children can even lick - the tongue will not stick.

Durability. There are metal runners on a plastic base, thanks to which they not only slide well. They protect the plastic from abrasion on the asphalt.

Lungs. They weigh only 2.5 kilograms.

Durable. Withstand up to 100 kilograms.

Minuses

Price. Imported ones cost about 5,000 rubles. But now there are plastic sleds russian production, they cost about 2,000 rubles.

Overall impression:

The sledge rolls well down the mountain. They have an ergonomic design, comfortable to hold. They showed the speed as good as the ice. Even a child can handle the controls at the level of intuition. I pulled out my legs - I slowed down, it's scary - you fall on your side. They do not hurt, even if they tip over on top of you, because they are light and do not have sharp corners.

Booster and car cover

Also in our test drive was a child car seat, the so-called booster and a car seat cover.

The first one refused to roll at all, despite the fact that, like ice-floes, it is made of plastic. Great hope was on an old car cover. One side is made of leatherette and the other is made of upholstery fabric. It was expected that in the cold the leatherette would freeze and be just like ice, and on the fabric side it was not cold to sit. The cover was really hardened, but did not slip off the mountain.

Winter benefits for everyone who doesn't like annoying troubles

To prevent hair from electrifying from the cap... Of course, there are special means, but we are talking about the most available ways... Add water and a few drops of lavender oil to a spray bottle (these can be found cheaply at fixed-price stores or any convenience store). After shaking well, spray onto hair - static charge is neutralized.

To prevent your shoes from getting wet. You can grate paraffin from a regular candle on a fine grater and put in the microwave for a few seconds, add a couple of spoons to liquid paraffin linseed oil (a few drops of lavender is possible). Rub shoes with this mixture and leave to soak overnight.

To remove the pellets from your favorite sweater, use a regular razor. Although there are special machines for removing clumps from clothes, they cost a lot of money. You can also use scotch tape or roll-on tape (the effect is the same), but this will only help with a small amount of just appeared pellets.

To make the phone respond to gloved fingersYou can upgrade the hand accessory. The first method: we take non-working telephone headphones, pull out a metal thread from them, thread it into a needle with a large eye. We embroider a small circle (or cross) on the index finger. It is with this "embroidery" that you will touch the screen of the now obedient phone. Second: insert a small ball of foil into the tip of the index finger of the glove. Third: some advise spitting on a gloved finger. It works, the sensor reacts to a wet glove, but walking with wet fingers is a dubious pleasure.

So that your feet do not freeze during long walks, cut the insoles to fit your feet from foil izolon and put them into the shoes - it will be warmer. However, on sale you can often see insoles made of similar material.

To always keep your hands warm Get in the habit of carrying an extra pair of gloves with you. Suddenly you decide to throw a couple of snowballs with your friends. It is uncomfortable to walk in wet gloves, you will instantly change them to dry ones.

To make the ice slide even better, you can melt the grated paraffin in the microwave and grease the ice with it. Let it freeze. Glide will be even better.

To open a frozen castle for example, a garage, in the absence of special tools at hand, heat the key with a lighter (it is more difficult to do this with matches). A hot key will "convince" the lock to give in.

To make the apartment a little warmer, lay a wall behind the battery food foil or a sheet of foil isolon. Heat will be reflected into the interior of the room.

So that the shoes do not slip work with the sole. First, you can use coarse sandpaper to create micro-burrs from sliding on it. Secondly, try applying a few staples in the heel and toe area with a regular stationery stapler (many of them have the bottom folded back). Thirdly, you can stick pieces of tape on a clean sole. True, it is erased after each walk and, if you have enough patience, you will have to update it every time. The staples will last a little longer. Some also advise you to apply hot melt glue to a clean sole and let it dry. These options can be used if you do not want to spend about 200 rubles on ice shoes or if you think that they spoil the aesthetic appearance of the shoes.

To avoid fogging glassesWhen entering from a cold place, try generously smearing the lenses with shaving foam and then wiping them thoroughly with a tissue. Some claim that this works due to the microfilm, which, covering the lenses, protects them from condensation.

So that there are no stains from wet shoes in the hallway, some advise keeping an ordinary cat litter with lattice. Dirty water from shoes and snow will drain into the tray, leaving no dirt on the floor.

To keep the phone cold, do not carry it in your jeans pocket. Cold temperatures are bad for your battery, so tuck your phone into an inside jacket pocket.

In order not to freeze on the street put on several layers of light clothing, it is much better than one layer of thick clothing. For example, one warm sweater will not warm up as well as, say, three T-shirts and a turtleneck worn one on top of the other. The effect is achieved due to air gap, because air has low thermal conductivity. If this does not help, some advise to dial hot water (approx. 80 ° C) in small bottles and put in pockets. As long as you walk, they will keep you warm.

To prevent car wipers from icing up, some advise wearing regular socks. It looks funny, but the main thing is not to press them against the glass: it will be even more difficult to peel them off with socks. It is believed that this simple method allows you not to loosen the mounts, each time removing the wipers.

To the side windows of the car are not covered with frost during the night, wrap them in plastic bags. Of course, this only makes sense for those who do not have heated mirrors.

To insulate unheated seats in a car, you can put on them sheets of the already mentioned material - isolon. It's not so cold to sit on it.

Skiing down the mountains - fun mass fun for children in winter time since time immemorial. To fly down the knurled ice path, everyone contrives what they have to do: some squatting, some plopping down flat, and some putting plywood or the lid of a cardboard box under them. Previously, for this in the villages, children made special ice cakes: they took an old sieve or basin, coated it with clay or adobe outside, doused it with water and froze it. Then they put hay inside, like in a nest. It was with this kind of lens that the descent was especially rapid.

Despite the fact that the stores now sell a large assortment of modern plastic ice cakes, the children still continue to make their own versions - it's more interesting and more fun. Here are some examples from the German magazine Praktik.

An ice floe from ... a shovel

The old shovel itself begs to be used as a piece of ice. Indeed, it already has everything for this: a wide blade will serve as an excellent runner, especially since one edge seems to be specially bent, like a sleigh; and if we shorten the handle, we get a ready-made handle, convenient to hold on to and even control the movement.

1- shovel; 2- fabric (or rubber) loop tape; 3- liner (polystyrene, foam rubber, latex)

It is possible and a little more to improve such a "soviet" ice - make a seat for it. This will require a strip of fabric (or rubber - for example, from a car camera): the material is folded in half and is put on the handle (handle) with a specially made hole. It remains to put a piece of foam, thick foam or latex inside - and you are ready to have a comfortable soft seat.

"Ski" ice

Children's wooden skis serve the child for a short winter or two, and there, you see, the baby has grown - others, bigger ones are needed. And discard the old ones? Some make sleds out of them. And if you collect several pairs, you can build an original ice-cold out of old skis

For this, the skis must first of all be rallied into a single shield. This can be done as follows. A tightly fitting connecting block with glue (carpentry, PVA) is threaded through the through hole available for each ski for soft attachment. In this case, the side edges of the skis are also glued, and the resulting shield is firmly rallied on a flat surface and kept for the period of glue setting.

1 - skis; 2 - connecting bar; 3 - plywood seat pad; 4 - carpet; 5 - connecting strip, A - ice cream assembly; B - toe part

At this time, a connecting strip made of wooden board; the toe of each ski is gently nailed to it.

To further strengthen the shield, a strip of plywood is applied and nailed to the backs of the skis. It can be oval and serve as a seat: then its surface is pasted over with carpet. A strip of the same material is glued to the toe bar, which serves as a stop - the legs will not slip. You can also attach a rope or a leather handle here for the convenience of carrying the ice.

Ice chair

Another version of the ice-cold has increased "comfort" - in the form of a chair on a wide runner. This design, as it were, combines the "soviet" and "ski" options. Only from the shovel is used only a part with a handle as a handle, and instead of skis - a sheet of plywood.

1 - plywood runner; 2- toe curly bar; 3 - seat legs; 4 - coated seat (rubber, carpet); 5 - part of a shovel with a handle; 6 - undercut bars

The device of this ice is clear from the picture. A plywood runner sheet with an overlapping leading edge is attached from above to a toe bar, processed with a sled bend plane. Their connection is reinforced with curly seat legs nailed from above. The latter is formed by two panels joined at a certain angle, for which the legs have corresponding cutouts. The surface of the seat is papered or upholstered with a rubber ribbed mat or carpet.

Two bars are nailed to the bottom of the plywood runner, which play the role of undercuts. A part of a shovel with a handle is attached to the bottom of the toe bar so that the person riding on the ice has something to hold on to.

How to make a sled for children? The instructions and the drawings attached to it will help you with this. So that you do not spend money on a master class from craftsmen of folk hand-made, we will try to tell you how you can make a sled yourself. Moreover, it is not so difficult as it seems at first glance. Winter sleds you can adjust to size, make them strong and stable, which means they will be much more reliable than folding store sleds.

DIY wooden sleds: drawings

The most standard material for making sleds is wood. Wooden sledges can be either entirely made of wood or contain elements woven from vines or branches.

To make the sled look smooth and comfortable, you need blueprints. They will be the basis, and you can think of additional elements yourself.

We offer you such a drawing for making standard children's sleds with your own hands.

To decorate a vehicle made from a drawing, you can cut out several carved elements of the back from plywood with a jigsaw. For the strength of the runners, it is recommended to make them thicker from a bar or to beat them with sheet metal.

With the growing demand for replacing iron pipes for water supply and heating with plastic ones, craftsmen began to often make sleds from plastic pipes do it yourself. If your family members or friends are engaged in a similar business, or you have several tubes left after repair, then you will not have any problems. You can make a sled from a pipe or polypropylene.

Sleigh from shaped pipe, PVC, from polypropylene pipes or from a square tube will be equally good if made strong. The main thing is the availability of a special soldering iron and a grinder within reach for cutting off sections of the desired valley. Some hardware stores can rent these tools.

What you need:

  • the actual plastic pipes;
  • adapters for connection;
  • metal corners to strengthen the runners;
  • a sheet of plastic for the seat (optional);
  • rope so that the sled can be pulled.

A home craftsman can weld a sled with his own hands from metal, and such a product will be much cheaper than purchased sleds. Iron welded sleds from a corner or from metal profileleft after construction - a good use for what could be left in the garage in the "useful" category.

Forged decorative elements from a metal profile, metal rods remaining in the art forging workshop are best used in business. You can decorate them with thin wire snowflakes, and then the Snow Queen herself will envy such a sleigh.

You can make a sled from an old cot or bed backs.

What you need:

  • corners for runners and frame;
  • seating profile;
  • bolts with nuts and washers for fastening;
  • rope, preferably not synthetic, so that the sled can be pulled.

You can add a seating board as metal gets very cold in the cold.

DIY foam sled

Expanded polystyrene from household appliances It's a pity to throw it away right away, and he moves to the balcony. So that valuable material does not have to lie uselessly for a long time, try to ride on a DIY foam sled. It's warm to ride on them in cold weather.

It is enough to cut a streamlined contour with a sharp knife and punch holes for the rope. Let it be disposable sleds, but they will cost almost nothing.

Another option for free sleds is from plastic bottles... It is enough to rewind the required number of empty containers with plastic film in four or six pieces and put them in a large plastic bag or film for the greenhouse. Solder the edges with an iron and ride on health.

Fit a metal corner, plastic pipe or old skis to the stroller, which is possible even without removing the wheels. It is much more convenient to ride such a sled from a stroller in winter.

Do you have old skis lying around? Don't rush to get rid of them! If they have not become unusable, it's time to make a couple of ski sledges with your own hands.

This will require quite a bit of skill and some additional materials. Making sleds from old alpine skis can save a lot.

What you need:

  • actually old skis;
  • timber or corner for fastening;
  • board or plastic sheet for seating;
  • bolts with nuts and washers;
  • rope so that the sled can be pulled.

Briefly about the creation of such a sled - a corner is stuffed onto skids of skis, a seat is attached on top, to which a rope is tied.

DIY sled for twins

In-store sled options for two, steerable, steering help preserve parenting strength. The main difference between sleds for two kids is an elongated seat and two backs. Toddlers can sit in a train if they ride down a slide, or face to face if this vehicle is up to kindergarten and on a walk.

It doesn't matter what the controlled sleds are made of, with or without a rudder - wood, metal, plastic pipes or old skis. In your own product, you will take into account the exact height and weight of the children. The quality of the mounts and materials will also not worry you.

You can use one of the drawings above.

DIY ice sledge

DIY ice sleds are easily made from anything - the main thing is that the material is slippery and does not allow moisture to pass through. As an option - linoleum ice sheets. All they need is sharp scissors or a cutter and a piece of linoleum.

The pattern for linoleum ice is small in area.

DIY Finnish sleds: drawings

The Finky is a sled with elongated runners and a high seat. One person sits down, the second stands behind the runners and pushes off. Adults can accelerate to high speeds. Sometimes large dogs such as husky or husky are even harnessed to such sledges.

Before using the blueprints to create a Finnish sled with your own hands, think: maybe you can modernize an old children's sled by adding a high back to it?

DIY cheesecake sleds

An inflatable cheesecake or bun will bring joy of slides to both children and adults. One of the easiest models to manufacture allows you to develop high speed and saves you from hypothermia. It is especially pleasing that the cheesecake sleds from the car camera have very simple patterns.

To protect the inflated camera, you need to put it in a cover made of awning fabric, thin linoleum or wide vinyl wallpaper... By the size of the base, but with a margin, it is necessary to cut out the protective material in the form of two circles. Take your time, measure several times.

The circles are sewn together along the front seam. The camera can be lowered, and then the edges can be sewn even on sewing machine... For convenience, the cover can be equipped with carabiners to which an additional seat cushion will be attached.

Previously, to slide down the hill, sleds were not needed at all. Nothing forbade us to move right at the "fifth point": either we did not strive for high speed, or the pants and jackets glided better, or maybe the slides were poured using a different technology. As a last resort, you could sit on a piece of cardboard that was found on the street under a hill.

Now it is difficult to find a child who will agree to ride without ice or sledges. It is possible that children are simply protecting their clothes from unforeseen damage. Or maybe the slides are not so slippery and the guys are trying to accelerate as much as possible. True, this is fraught with the fact that you can go straight onto the roadway and God forbid, under the wheels of the car.

However, the fact remains: every time it is inconvenient to take a bulky sled from home with you and is no longer relevant.

Not so long ago, one of the Russian sites conducted a poll "What do your children ride downhill?" According to the results, the most popular was the icefish. 32% of the respondents voted for them. The second place was shared by sledges and snow-scooters. And right after them with 8% of the votes comes the well-known "fifth point". The rest spoke in favor of improvised and pedestrian products on which to move out.

What to choose here is decided not by people, but by the mountain itself. If it is moderately wide, not too steep and has a sufficiently long descent, then bulky sleds, snow-scooters and skis will do. But you can't ride them off a small hill. Too unsafe. So either ice cream, or priest, or improvised materials come to the rescue.

Do not do for the child what he can do himself

As for homemade ice cakes, a piece of linoleum is still the most popular type. However, boards, cardboard boxes also do not give up their place of honor. For older children, sleds can replace not only a portfolio, but also a verified abstract. And in one of the Kirov universities, after the session, students ride on protected term papers... One thing is bad: these tools are not always safe. But the child can make them himself!

In order not to hurt themselves, they used to sew soft ice from linoleum. The base was cut out of old oilcloths, and paralon was laid inside. The plus is that they are safe, good sliding and lightweight, because the child will have to drag them uphill. These can be done now, in less than an hour. In addition, if such a sled breaks, then you can always make new ones.

In principle, now the stores offer inflatable sleds made on the principle of a mattress.

But you can make them yourself.

If you have turning skills, then you can make the sled more difficult. The design of the ice sleds is not at all complicated: an old chamber inflated with air from any car, pulled in two places by tension belts, which also serve as handrails. From below, a duralumin runner panel is attached to the camera with a pair of shortened skis attached to it.

According to the inventors themselves, such a modification has been tested more than once and has shown itself in the best possible way. First, the ice sled is very stable and has a significant passability on fresh snow. Secondly, there is no fear of injury or injury. Ice sleds are lightweight, disassembled during transportation, and their preparation into working condition takes a few minutes. It is enough to go down a mountain or a steep slope several times, and you will master the simple techniques of riding on an ice sled.

Safety regulations

Finally, let's discuss security. First of all, pay attention to the slide your kids ride on. There should be no sticks or pieces of iron sticking out on the trajectory. If they are not there, then the child will not flop for anything when he rolls.

If the slide rests on the carriageway, then it is worth warning the children in advance so that they do not come to the cars. Better yet, teach them to brake or turn the other way before the road.

No less injuries if two children collide on a sled. Better to wait it out than to rush into another's back. This also needs to be put into the child's head. Well, and the previous one, of course, should quickly get up and step aside so that no one bumps into it.

Clothing. It is better if the jacket and trousers are made of waterproof fabric. Make sure your child is wearing mittens and a hat on the slide. By the way, children have a lot of excuses against this. In addition, a thick hat will soften the blow in any case.

From the heart

Do not miss the opportunity and ride yourself one more time. Don't break the old Russian tradition. By the way, on Shrovetide, everyone - both children and adults - was supposed to ride down the hill, even the oldest old man. And if he has enough strength for this, then he will definitely live until next Easter.
