In 1998, LucasArts editor Hayden Blackman, along with designer Vince Lee, wanted to include something unusual on the CD-ROM of the interactive encyclopedia Behind the Magic: they decided to indicate the coordinates of an area that cartography had never touched before. For the first time, a map of a galaxy far, far away was to be drawn.

Once they got to work, there was no going back. Cards tend to take power over you, and it is not easy to get rid of it. Modern maps of the earth's surface take into account everything down to a small hillock thanks to space satellites. Even medieval maps, with their "there may be dragons" warnings and the fantastic monsters that line the edges, are interesting in more because of the facts, not because of these embellishments. The distorted outlines of the continents reflect the ideas of the then people about the structure of the world. This knowledge was given to them at the cost of incredible labor. As National Geographic founding editor Gilbert Hovey Grosvenor said, "The map is the greatest of all epic poems, its lines and colors tell us how great dreams come true."

Star Wars is a fictional universe, but with its strong mythology and powerful pop culture influence, it is essentially a modern-day epic. Other modern myths - like J. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, for example - had maps from the beginning, and they helped readers better imagine the places where their imagination took them - from the Shire to Mordor. Star Wars, on the other hand, was in no hurry to get their map and dragged it out for almost twenty years, despite the fact that the history of this universe spans twenty-five thousand years - and the entire galaxy.

Part of this delay was an unwillingness to tie writers to a rigid structure, but in fact the lack of this structure created additional problems. The authors of the Star Wars novels often used the names of the planets from the films, inserting references to Dantooine or Ord Mantell purely for the sake of authenticity. This habit led to the fact that the same worlds were described in different ways - and these descriptions did not always agree with each other. At the same time, tabletop RPG sourcing books from West End Games have taken to actively naming sprawling territories - the Expansion region, the Colonies, various trade routes - without bothering to invent their own stories for them. As a result, in the late nineties, everything turned into a hodgepodge that was difficult to work with and almost impossible to visualize.

Such was the situation that Hayden Blackman and Vince Lee faced - and the release date for Behind the Magic was inexorably approaching. In a letter to Lucasfilm sent to e-mail, Vince noted with regret that “there is a lot of conflicting information about some locations, and about other locations useful information very little." But they were moving forward, despite the complete uncertainty, and puzzled over how to represent three-dimensional space in a two-dimensional plane. They relied primarily on the West End Games Gazetteer, which provided data on travel times between known planets in the Star Wars galaxy. They supposed to convert time into distance - and then the reference book would have been of invaluable help to them. “Unfortunately,” as Lee noted, “the data presented in the handbook seemed inconsistent. For example, sometimes traveling from A to B and then to C took less time than a direct route from A to C. To deal with this problem, we decided that the longer travel time was due to obstacles along the route. After all, it makes perfect sense that a navigational computer could break up the hyperspace journey into a series of short hops. Poorly mapped routes could also take longer.”


Another source was The Essential Guide to Planets and Moons, which at the time only existed as a preliminary layout. The book included more than 100 planets located in various areas, from the Core to the Outer Territories, but there was no map as such. For the mapmakers, this was like renting a car and being offered to take it somewhere in the E site without naming a parking space.

As the author of The Essential Guide to Planets and Moons, I was called in as a consultant to create the map, but Blackman and Lee already knew what to do without me. The CD-ROM was released in mid-1998 and fans were able to find out the locations of the planets featured (or just mentioned) in the classic trilogy: Tatooine, Dagobah, Dantooine, Ord Mantell, Yavin, Mon Calamari, Kashyyyk, Alderaan, Corellia, Kessel, Nar Shaddaa, Bespin, Hoth, Endor, and Naboo, which "lit up" a year before the release of Episode I.

The start was exhilarating, but sixteen planets was no way to capture the diversity of the Star Wars galaxy. We still needed a comprehensive map, and the New Jedi Order book series, an ambitious collaboration between Lucasfilm and Del Rey, provided the perfect impetus for this. The novels were a five-year chronicle of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy. In these books, one planet after another fell under the onslaught of an unstoppable enemy - the capital of the New Republic, Coruscant, could not resist. It immediately became clear that it was absolutely impossible to plan the plot of a five-year story without a significantly supplemented galactic map.

Sue Rostoni of Lucasfilm and Shelley Shapiro of Del Rey agreed that new map necessary, and in December 1998, James Luceno was appointed responsible for this project. Luceno, the author of the New Jedi Order dilogy called Agents of Chaos (which included two novels, Hero's Trial and Jedi Eclipse), immediately contacted me to discuss the details. James and I studied for a long time a map made for the Behind the Magic CD-ROM and preliminary outlines of the New Jedi Order plot to get you started. in a year, and our map should have been finished long before that.

The following quote from an e-mail sent to me by Jim Luceno during the first weeks of work on the project clearly illustrates that we started with a clean slate. In the story of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, geography and history went hand in hand:

“Draw a capital J starting at Dantooine, then go close to Kashyyyk and turn left somewhere between and Tatooine to end on Coruscant. This intricate tour around Corellia could serve as an invasion route. The events in Bob's book ("Vector Prime") are supposed to take place in the Outer Territories and introduce readers to Lando's asteroid mine, the SETI base, and so on. If we imagine that the Unknown Regions are located, say, in the region of 8-11 o'clock (the designation of a map segment, equivalent to the corresponding segment of the dial - approx. Nexu), then the invaders must pass near the Zan Nirauan System, and thus [to the war] the Chiss (from Mike's book) and Ithor will also be involved - if we locate him somewhere between Dantooine and Ord Mantell."


The most important thing in working on this map was to avoid duplicating or canceling any previous contributions to Star Wars cartography. This meant that we had to carefully study every sector on the maps from West End Games - even one that looked like a regular dead end in an alien outback. Our efforts were rewarded: we discovered a piece of Hutt Space in the Secrets of the Sisar Run expansion, a whole scattering of Core planets in the Star Wars Adventure Journal, and the geography of the Rimma Trade Route was described in Lords of the Expanse. Unfortunately, these tiny maps were pieces of a puzzle that hadn't even been drawn yet. Reading the characteristics of the Tapani Sector in an RPG guide, I felt like I was holding a road atlas of Vienna in my hands, having no idea of ​​the existence of Austria or Europe, and no idea at all whether the Earth was round or flat.

Attempts to match the elements of this mosaic with the map from the Behind the Magic disc turned into a frantic shadow chase: Parmel Sector joins Saryn Sector, Saryn Sector joins Kuance Sector... Adding a new planet was sometimes like yanking a map out of the base of a house of cards . To avoid the destruction of the invisible threads connecting the planets to each other, I began to draw up flowcharts, which reflected all conceivable and inconceivable connections. These flowcharts were based on a database of 3,000 planets compiled by Star Wars Insider contributor Jason Fry. In particular, an attempt once made to determine the location of the casino planet Elshandruu Peak led to the appearance of an “explosion at the pasta factory”: there were lines, circles and arrows everywhere that were supposed to lead us to the top of this pandemonium. Jim Luceno took a look at all the doomsday we faxed him and remarked, not without sarcasm, “Thank you for this…creation; I haven't seen anything like it since I worked as a psychiatrist's assistant in a mental hospital."

All these experiments led us to one simple conclusion: draw the roads, and everything else will catch up by itself. The Star Wars galaxy is unique among other sci-fi universes in that its FTL starships can't just fly where they want to. As Han Solo says in A New Hope, "Without precise calculations, you'll either crash into a star or get too close to a supernova." Safe passages through hyperspace are few and far between, and knowledge of them is highly valued. These routes, or "hyperlanes" where you don't have to fear a supernova, are the arteries of galactic travel and trade. Once Jim and I had drawn the main routes - the Corellian Trade Route, the Hydian Route, the Rimman Trade Route, and the Cut delimited by the Perlemian Trade Route and the Corellian Trade Route - the hardest part of the job was done. Marking these routes for Star Wars was the equivalent of opening navigation between all of Earth's continents.

Trade routes also helped lift the veil on some galactic mysteries. For example, the orientation of all paths to the "East" was explained by the presence of the Unknown Regions in the western quadrant of the galaxy. It also made it clear why the heroes of The Phantom Menace traveled from Naboo to Coruscant via distant Tatooine, a desert planet near the Corellian Run, Star Route 66, reserved for those who don't like to wait.

The first map for The New Jedi Order was completed by the end of December and included over 50 planets. She became an integral part of plot planning, but Del Rey had no intention of including her directly in the novels themselves. Convinced that this map would be as useful to readers as it was to story architects, I bought Vernor Vinge's A Fire Upon the Deep and Michael Shaara's The Killer Angels, literary accounts of the Battle of Gettysburg. The first featured its own "galactic map"; in the second, arrows were drawn on the battle maps indicating the movements of the Allied and Confederate armies. Jim Luceno brought these books to a story meeting at Skywalker Ranch in March 1999. With visual evidence of how the map could improve perception and understanding of history, Del Rey gave the green light to the idea, and the map was to be published that fall.

We were joined by Chris Barbieri, who became the official artist of the project.

“Chris came up with several different approaches,” recalls Luceno. “I remember several discussions about the limitations of two-dimensional space, as well as about general style, fonts and different ways imagine the Uncharted Regions, Wild Space, and the invasion path."

Barbieri hand-drawn lines that were slightly different from the computer-generated map from the Behind the Magic CD, evoking memories of an old pirate map of treasure island. In November 1999, the final version of the illustration appeared on the frontispiece of the novel Vector Prime in the form of a centerfold.


However, work on improving the map continued. At some point, Jim Luceno and I decided to use the style we saw in the campaign maps from The Killer Angels - zooming in on individual areas - to show the movement of the Yuuzhan Vong and New Republic fleets in the sector of space that battles were fought. Although the campaign map idea never came to fruition, we managed to create an "invasion map" for the fifth book in the New Jedi Order series, Balance Point. Barbieri's ominous black arrows, depicting the onward progress of the Yuuzhan Vong, evoked associations with the advance of the German army deep into Europe, as shown in the black-and-white chronicles of the forties.

When we presented these maps to the public, we felt it was appropriate to extend this idea to other projects where more detail could be provided due to the enlarged print sheet formats. Inside the Worlds of Episode I by Dorling Kindersley, obscure planets from Episode I are shown as thumbnails, while the huge liner map from the UK edition of Star Wars Fact Files could be twice as big. more worlds than the map from Vector Prime - besides, it was full color. In 2001, Wizards of the Coast released a slightly smaller insert card and included it in the packaging of Star Wars Gamer #5 magazine. In 2002, Wizards included another edition of this card in the Star Wars Roleplaying Game Revised Core Rulebook. In each version of the maps, the picture of the galaxy was slightly different: new systems were added, and less important ones became the property of history. It is simply impossible to fit them all on one map.


The revision of the map takes place regularly - when we are dealing with a civilization where there are "thousands of thousands" of worlds, there are always planets that need to be added. Last time, I had the opportunity - along with Lucasfilm editor Chris Kerasi, who is in charge of the policy of "integrity" - to map the new locations featured in Star Wars Episode II - "Attack of the Clones". Padme's remark that "Geonosis is less than a parsec away" from Tatooine made the process of working on this production center quite easy, but Dexter Jettster's description - "just south of the Rishi Labyrinth" - made me work hard, because I had to come up with the location for the planet Rishi featured in Timothy Zahn's novel Dark Force Rising.

The map of the galaxy with all its components does a great job of giving Star Wars fans an understanding of where the planets they know are located. But she also has dignity, despite the changeable fame - it awakens interest in the romance of adventure. The Unknown Regions is the real Terra Incognita, and the Perlemian Trade Route is like the Northern Sea Route. For all the explorers of the Old Republic era who discovered its hyperhighways - and, more importantly, for those real-world cartographers who bit by bit created the details of this fictional cartography - this map was a real embodiment of a great dream.

Tests for modules and kits

There are eight types of modules in the game, which will be discussed below. It is important to know that in order to pass the test for the next module, you need different characters.

Health. You can go for any character. The bonus will be credited if there are 2 or more modules. For the next 2 modules of the fifteenth level, you will receive a bonus in the form of five percent to the health of the character. This set is the simplest and most accessible to any player.

Protection. Can be obtained by playing as a Jedi. The set bonus is also credited from 2 or more modules. For the next 2 modules of the fifteenth level, you will receive a bonus in the form of five percent to defense. This will come in handy for tanks. It doesn't make much sense to specifically stuff it.

Each challenge has 3 difficulty levels. Each of which allows characters with a certain number of stars:

Shapes and colors of modules

In the gameplay, you can meet modules of different shapes, there are six of them. Each form has its own characteristics. Therefore, do not beat your head against the wall and open the "necessary" heroes. Pump over those that are available, combine them. Read the descriptions of their attacks and abilities and you will be able to create the best squad for yourself. But remember, a harmonious squad is a tank, healers (support) and aggressors.

  1. Gather experience materials (in battles) to train characters and level them up.
  2. Equipment sets are used to level up a character's equipment and unlock new abilities. Equipment can be collected or crafted.
  3. By collecting character shards, you can increase their rank in the stars, as well as increase their parameters.
  4. Combining characters of the same category in battle, you can create new strategies.

In the store, you can buy hero shards, equipment items, upgrades for abilities and much more for crystals or real money. You buy a random amount of a random resource, and the range is very wide and can be, for example, from 10 to 330 shards of one of the 27 heroes. Therefore, there is a great chance to win a small number of fragments of a completely unnecessary hero. And how to collect your best squad at the same time?

At the end of the list on the right there is a data card from bronzium. With this card, you can win 5 times a day: a random hero, shards, equipment or currency. Or more, spending 250 ally points each. The time interval between attempts is 20 minutes. These points can be obtained in battles using the help of an ally.

Supplies is a store where you can exchange various currencies for goods. The following currencies are accepted here:

This is a series of battles in which you can win various useful items for character development. Only light heroes are allowed to the battle of the light side, and dark ones, respectively, to the dark side. You will be confronted by the characters of the opposite side. Therefore, you should collect and pump units of both the light and dark sides. As you progress, the strength of the enemies will increase, but the rewards will also get better.

There are 2 types of difficulty here. On normal difficulty you can win:

On high difficulty, in addition to the rewards listed above, you can get fragments that unlock new heroes and increase the stardom of existing ones.

During the passage of battles, energy is consumed. It is added for free by 1 unit every 6 minutes, or for crystals. Also in daily tasks you can receive 45 units of energy several times a day (watch the timer). The maximum number is limited and depends on the overall level of the player. If the energy is greater than or equal to the maximum level, the increase every 6 minutes stops. Therefore, it should be spent on time. The further you go in battles, the more this energy will be charged from you. Hard battles require 2 times more energy than normal difficulty battles. There are a total of 381 light side battles and 381 dark side battles in the game.

How to win in the Squad Arena?

In the Arena, you fight with squads of other players. The higher your place in the standings, the better reward awaits you, which is issued once a day - at 18.00 Moscow time. 5 battles are available per day with a 10-minute interval between battles (why they did this is not clear). Cantina battle

The battle of the cantina resembles the passage of battles for the light and dark sides. During the passage of battles, the energy of the cantina is consumed. It is added for free by 1 unit every 12 minutes, or for crystals. Also in daily tasks you can receive 45 units of energy several times a day (watch the timer). There are no battles at different difficulty levels. Any heroes are allowed to battle and you can win the following rewards:

  4. Battle Coupons, which are needed to instantly complete 3-star battles. Get battle coupons also for restoring energy and daily entry into the game.

  7. Experience Points, which increases the overall level of the player.

Challenge Guide

There are 6 trials in total. There are 2 challenges available every day. All tests are available on Sunday. Each challenge has 3 and 5 attempts. If you lose, attempts do not burn out. You can choose the difficulty of the test and, accordingly, the rewards. Descriptions of passing these tests:

Ability materials. Bosses apply a permanent damage over time effect. Use characters that can interrupt the debuff and/or deal high damage.

Equipment (Only for tanks). Earn tactical equipment! Fight Mace Windu with the Split Point skill and try to outsmart him.

  4. Purchase items in shipments: 10.
  5. Earn 1,000,000 credits in total.

We take everything from the galactic war

galactic war- This is a series of battles in which health is not restored between battles. Therefore, healers who heal heroes during the battle will come in handy here like nowhere else. However, here you can put any of the heroes available. Also, don't forget to open the boxes on the game table between fights, otherwise you won't go any further. To win, you need to take tanks and healers to the main squad: 1-2 tanks and 2-4 healers. The rest of the available heroes also need to be pumped - they will help in finishing off opponents.

Ships and their correct pumping

Ships are needed for individual battles and special activities. Ship battles are quite spectacular and epic. However, the game does not shine with variety and the mechanics of battles and pumping are similar to the mechanics with heroes. Ship upgrades include:

Galaxy , where all the events of Star Wars take place, is one of the trillions of galaxies in the universe. It was in this Galaxy that the events related to the times of the Galactic Republic, the Galactic civil war, the Galactic Empire, the New Republic, the Yuuzhan Vong War, the Galactic Alliance, and the struggle between the Jedi and the Sith.

Based on the available maps, we can conclude that the Galaxy is spiral and belongs to the Sb type. According to some sources, the Galaxy has a diameter of 120,000 light years or 37,000 parsecs (1 parsec = 3.258 light years). There is a black hole at the center of the galaxy. Two satellite galaxies revolve around the Galaxy, one of which is called the Rishi Labyrinth. At the edge of the Galaxy, there is a so-called hypercosmic disturbance, which makes all hypercosmic routes beyond the disk impossible.

Story

Prior to the beginning of writing, the first known galactic political entity was the Rakata Infinite Empire, which ceased to exist long before the formation of the so-called "galactic civilization".

The galaxy as an official entity came into existence millennia later, when humans discovered hyperspace travel and made contact with alien races. When several worlds and species learned about each other, they formed a free community that adopted common laws and a monetary unit. The Galactic Republic became the "official" form of government in the galaxy. The smaller Sith Empire went into opposition to the Republic, and at the heart of this confrontation was religion - an understanding of the Force. The Sith were defeated and revived several times.

Finally, after a thousand years of hidden existence, the Sith were able to rebuild their Empire, dissolving the Republic and replacing it with the short-lived Galactic Empire. Imperial tyranny lasted for two decades, but after the Galactic Civil War, the Republic was eventually restored. Despite this, the remaining imperials continued to resist the new government for more than a decade, until they finally signed a peace treaty.

Shortly after this event, a race from another galaxy known as the Yuuzhan Vong began an invasion of the galaxy. Their invasion devastated much of the galaxy, including the capital city of Coruscant, although the invaders were eventually defeated and some of the Yuuzhan Vong joined the galactic community.

After the victory over the Yuuzhan Vong for a century and a half, the Galaxy underwent changes in the form of government, including the restoration of the Empire, however, this time not associated with the dark side. The new Galactic Empire was at war with the re-created New Sith Order.

The galaxy is divided into several regions, a list of which is given below. The regions are sorted by the degree of distance from the center of the Galaxy. Each region, in turn, is divided into sectors, systems and planets.

Core


In the very heart of the Galaxy there is a small region - the Core (or Core Systems). The worlds included in it are unusual: due to the gravitational influence of a large number of stars, local time in them is partially curved, which at best creates problems for traveling through hyperspace. The region was considered inaccessible until Emperor Palpatine established several safe routes. The area remained a stronghold of the Empire for almost twenty years after the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY.


Core Worlds


The ancient region bordering the outer zones of the Core, the Core Worlds, includes some of the most prestigious, well-developed, well-known and densely populated planets in the Galaxy. Region of Expansion

Outer Rim


The Outer Rim are the last well developed territories before Wild Space and the Unknown Regions. It is dotted with secluded worlds and harsh, primitive frontier planets. Due to its distance from the Center, the region has become home to many Alliance supporters.
