The efficient operation of the heating system is largely determined by its balance. It allows you to prevent the likelihood of situations where an excess amount of coolant is supplied to one radiator, while an insufficient amount is supplied to the other. To do this, the heating system should include Danfoss balancing valves, the principle of operation of which allows hydraulic balancing (coupling) of coolant flows through various elements of the heating system or stabilizing circulation pressures or temperatures in them.

If necessary, it is possible to install pipeline throttling fittings from other manufacturers, which will eliminate the instability of the heating system, difficult start-up of the system, uneven distribution of the coolant and the resulting uneven heating of the premises.

What kind of valves are there?

Balancing valves are usually divided into:

  • automatic (dynamic), which are able to maintain a constant pressure drop in the risers of a two-pipe or flow in the risers of a single-pipe heating system;
  • manual (static), which can be used as an adjusting diaphragm, in those systems where there is no automatic control device or the installed regulator does not allow limiting the flow rate. They belong to valve type devices.

Brass balancing valve

It should be noted that all modern systems heating systems that use radiator thermostats are dynamic systems. As a result of operation, the radiator thermostat constantly responds to the slightest changes in the air temperature in the room, thereby changing the flow rate of the coolant, which brings the heating system into a constantly changing (dynamic) mode of operation. This mode of operation necessitates the use of automatic (dynamic) balancing valves.
Also, valves are usually classified depending on:

  • working medium used: water, glycol solution, steam;
  • parameters of the working environment: pressure, flow, temperature;
  • installation locations: supply or return pipeline, bypass;
  • type of building (single-apartment or public);
  • operating function, providing for the regulation of pressure, temperature, flow of the working medium. A combination of them is also possible;
  • type of connection, which can be threaded or flanged.

For the manufacture of valves can be used various materials. Static valves are usually made of brass (can be flanged and threaded) or cast iron (flanged only). In the manufacture of dynamic products, brass, cast iron or carbon steel can be used to ensure the required technical characteristics.

For convenience of regulation of the valve can be completed:

  • fixed position lock;
  • shutter position indicator and setting value;
  • branch pipe for drainage of the area where the valve is mounted
  • measuring diaphragm, which allows for high-precision determination of the flow rate;
  • nozzles for measuring the flow rate of the coolant, pressure and pressure drop across the valve.

Valve principle

The main difference between a balancing valve and a shut-off valve is that it can work when the shutter is in an intermediate position. It should be noted that the design of the balancing valve may be different. There are valves in which the stem is located at an angle relative to the flow, and the spool is made not only straight, but also cylindrical, conical or radial. Consider the principle of operation of a valve having a straight stem and a flat spool.

Straight stem valve

During operation of the valve, the flow area between the spool-seat pair changes. Due to this, the balance of the system is achieved. The spool is located in a plane parallel to the axis of the pipeline. While in a plane located perpendicular to the perpendicular axis of the pipeline, there is a threaded spindle, to which the spool is pivotally connected. In the valve body there is a fixed threaded nut, which together with the spindle forms a running pair.

Due to the rotation of the setting handle, the torque is transmitted through the spindle and the fixed threaded nut associated with it, as a result of which the spool is given a translational movement, as a result of which it moves from the lowest to the highest position. Being in the lowest position, the spool is tightly connected to the seat in the valve body, thereby hermetically blocking the flow.

Depending on the type of coolant used, the hermetic shutoff of the flow is ensured by the use of a seal between the valve and the seat, created by fluoroplastic or rubber rings or metal-to-metal. As a result of changing the flow area, the capacity of the balancing valve changes, which is understood as a value numerically equal to the flow, expressed in m³ / h, through a fully open valve, at which the head loss will be 1 bar. Dependence of throughput on changing the position of the shutter can be seen in technical specifications valve.

BALLOREX valves

The Polish company BROEN BALLOREX in its Venturi series is engaged in the production of a manual balancing valve with high control accuracy. Such a valve is a valve that performs two functions:

  • valves with manual adjustment;
  • shut-off ball valve.

It allows balancing and hydraulic regulation, flow limitation, opening and closing of the flow of the working medium in the system, as well as measuring the temperature of the working medium and flow using a standard flow meter. It can be purchased in various designs. The range of these valves is available with nominal diameters from DN 15 to DN 200 and nominal pressures PN 16 Var and PN 25 Var. Valves with a nominal diameter from DN 15 to DN 50 and a pressure of 16 Var have a flange connection, and valves with a pressure of PN 25 Var have a threaded connection.

Valve BROEN BALLOREX

All balancing valves and their elements (valve body, measuring diaphragm, shut-off ball, adjusting stem) with a nominal diameter from DN 15 to DN 50 are made of chrome-plated brass. And balancing valves with a nominal diameter from DN 65 to DN 200 are made of steel with a flange or threaded connection.

Valves of the Venturi series with the same conditional passage are produced with different throughputs depending on the type of execution: high (H), standard (S) and low (L). In addition, the Venturi series is available in two types Venturi FODRV and Venturi DRV these valves have flow control measuring nipples. All valves of this company can be installed in any position on any section of the pipeline before or immediately after the branch, before or after the narrowing of the pipeline.

Also, this Polish company offers automatic balancing valves in various modifications. Ballorex DP valves are installed on the return pipeline, providing the necessary pressure drop on the circulation ring under any load. This makes it possible to stage-by-stage commissioning of the object due to the possibility of zonal balancing. The use of Ballorex DP makes it possible to eliminate noise phenomena caused by overpressure generated in other parts of the heating system.

Valves from the Danish manufacturer

Another manufacturer is the Danish company Danfoss, which supplies valves of all types, which are of high quality. MSV-BD LENO™ manual valves are a new generation of valves. They allow you to solve problems of hydraulic balancing of heating systems. At the same time, they combine the functions of a standard manual valve and a ball valve, thus providing a quick and complete shut-off of the flow. Most models allow you to take data at the outlet and inlet, however, some models have a nipple on one side only.

Automatic valve ASV-M

Automatic ASV-M, the price of which allows us to talk about the optimal ratio of price and quality, can be used as a shut-off valve and, if necessary, to connect the impulse pipe from ASV-P(V). ASV-I. It allows you to limit the maximum flow rate of the transported coolant. The valve is completed with special plugs for measuring nipples. By installing nipples, you can measure the flow rate of the coolant that flows through a specific section of the system.

ASV series valves are of high quality. They allow you to maintain a constant pressure difference between the supply and return pipelines. The ASV-P, installed on the return line, is characterized by a fixed setting of 10 kPa. Whereas ASV-PV has a measurable setting of 5-25kPa and ASV-PV Plus is 20-40kPa.

How is the installation carried out?

When performing installation, it is very important to ensure the correct position of the valve. In this case, the arrow on the body must coincide with the direction of movement of the coolant. This position will ensure not only the desired design resistance of the valve, but also the required flow rate. At the same time, it is worth noting that some manufacturers allow the possibility of installing the valve not only in the direction, but also against the flow. The stem, at the same time, in most models, can occupy a different spatial position.

During the installation process, it is worth protecting the working bodies of the fittings from the ingress of various mechanical contaminants. To do this, a sump or a special filter must be installed in front of the valve. To eliminate the turbulent movement of the liquid, it is necessary to provide straight sections of sufficient length before and after the valve. This requirement must be indicated in the documentation for the valve.

A heating system equipped with a balancing valve must be filled in a special way. To do this, in systems equipped with dynamic valves, it is imperative to provide filling fittings, which must be located in the immediate vicinity of the valve on the return pipeline. And the valves mounted on the supply pipeline must be prudently closed. To adjust the balancing valve, a special flow meter or differential pressure and flow tables are used. However, in any case, the initial calculation is carried out at the stage of calculating the heating system.

When designing heating systems, it is important to take into account a lot of features. It is necessary not only to select suitable pipes, but also service equipment that can protect the system from overloads and stabilize its functioning in a wide variety of conditions.

- a product that deals with just such tasks. A balancing valve is needed when organizing heating pipelines and, less often, hot water supply. About him now and will be discussed.

Purpose and functions

Many people are directly interested in what this faucet or valve is actually needed for. What functions does it perform?

This question can only be answered by first considering the conditions in heating systems.

A standard heating system constantly drives media through its pipes from one node to another. The main heating is carried out by supplying the carrier to radiators or other similar systems. The radiator, in the presence of a sufficient amount of liquid inside and a normal temperature, gives off heat to the room with great efficiency.

However, this is how the piping system operates under conditions close to ideal. Unfortunately, ideal conditions are often unattainable or partially achievable.

In a pipeline with constantly heated water, the pressure level and the temperature of the carrier may change. This leads to an uneven distribution of flow through the pipes. Which, of course, I would like to avoid.

One pipe in the end receive more heat, others less. For a heating system, this scenario is the worst. That's what a balancing valve or faucet is used for.

Its task is to automatically control the level of pressure and heating of the carrier, as well as adjust its supply in case of changes in the above parameters.

The crane is easy to set up, it works due to a simple spring and a few additional elements. At the same time, it performs a truly titanic work, cutting off individual branches of the system into logical parts and controlling the state in them.

On large pipelines, one crane will not solve the problem, you will have to install them in larger numbers. But trust me, it's worth it.

There are a lot of such products on the market from different manufacturers. The most popular brands are Stremaks, Cimberio, Stad and others. It is they who have been reliably holding their positions in the market for many years.

General principle of operation and design

The standard balancing valve is very similar to the pipeline valve, only it has a few differences.

This is also a fitting, but a fitting designed not to completely cover the system (although some models of Stremaks, Cimberio, Stad can do such things in addition to standard balancing) but to regulate it.

Balancing valves are based on a special spring, which is adjusted by turning two knobs. Handles affect its rigidity. The stiffer the spring, the more pressure it can withstand.

The interaction of the spring with the nominal pressure level makes it possible to easily control the flow force in the pipe, while taking into account its additional characteristics.

All mechanisms are sealed with rubber gaskets. Near the spring is equipped with a cartridge that simplifies the operation of the valve. The flow is closed by the movement of the spool towards the fitting. The spool, most often, is also controlled by the action of the spring.

In advanced models such as Stremaks, Cimberio and Stad, you can set the boundary conditions for the valve, under which it will completely close or open the flow.

Using flowmeters

Sometimes valves are equipped with a flowmeter. Using a flow meter gives us several benefits, including the ability to:

  • follow the flow
  • fine tuning;
  • automation of the regulation process.

In the same time valves with a flow meter are quite expensive, and can cost you at least several times more than regular ones.

As a rule, if the device is equipped with a flow meter, then it belongs to the highest class of fittings, therefore, automation will also be installed on it.

There are also advanced valves that operate entirely due to electronic components, capable of self-assessment of the situation, equipped with sensors and controlled from a single center. In civil construction, such solutions are almost never used due to the high cost.

Types and differences

To a large extent, they repeat the design of each other. The main division occurs due to several details.

First of all, they are divided according to the type of drive or control into:

  1. Manual.
  2. Automatic.

The former need manual adjustment and control, the latter are complete automata, mostly capable of organizing into a single system. The price difference between them is very significant.

Equally important is the presence of additional details. Cranes are often equipped:

  • flow meter;
  • sensors;
  • automation;
  • protection;

There are too many variations. You just need to understand that it is not necessary to buy the most expensive and fancy option. It is quite possible that you will not need the same pressure gauge or flowmeter at all. And he's worth the money.

Connection methods

Another thing to pay attention to is the way the balancing valves are connected.

This connection must be reliable, but at the same time mobile. That is, it is necessary to be able to remove the device at any time, replace it or repair it. The best option in this case - the flange method.

Flanged connection method is widely used in industry. The flanged valve is equipped with its own flanges and is connected to the same mating products at the ends of the pipes.

The flanged valve is easy to install with just a few bolts, it can be removed just as quickly, but it has one important feature. It is understood that the flanged valve, in the presence of a collapsible assembly, has an amazing level of tightness.

A flanged faucet does not need to be tightened or inspected from time to time, the chances of the flanges coming loose is extremely low, provided you have done the installation correctly.

Top Producers

The choice of manufacturer, of course, also affects the quality of the product. On modern market leaders have long been known. These include companies producing cranes Stremaks, Cimberio, Stad and others.

The Austrian company Herz is engaged in the production of Stremaks cranes designed for a wide variety of tasks. Their advantages are reliability and practicality at a convenient price. Shtremax cranes do not fail their owner, which plays a big role in the heating system.

Cimberio cranes from the Italian manufacturer are no less popular. Cimberio valves are presented on the market with a large number of models, which allows the buyer to confidently make his choice based on a wide catalog base.

Stad taps and valves are top quality products. The Stad crane is a benchmark in technical and engineering thought. The company produces them in small quantities, but each option is extremely versatile and easy to use.

As you can see, different manufacturers and brands have their own charms. All of them provide products of the highest quality, the reason for this is their many years of being on the market as leaders. Therefore, the final choice will fall on your shoulders.

For the effective functioning of the heating system, the actual parameters of its operation must be close to the calculated values. It is important to ensure proper distribution of coolant flows along the circuits, stable pressure and temperature regime. To solve this range of problems allows a special device - a balancing valve for the heating system.

Balancing valves used for heating systems

Purpose of the device

All branches of the heating system must receive the calculated amount of coolant. Previously, simple systems were regulated by using pipes of different diameters. In complex ones, special washers were installed, by shifting which it was possible to change the cross section of the pipeline. Today, a special valve is used that functions on the principle of a valve.

The balancing valve is equipped with two fittings, thanks to which:

  • the pressure of the coolant flow is measured before and after passing through the valve;
  • a capillary tube is connected to allow adjustment.

Based on the readings of the device, it is possible to determine the pressure drop during the passage of water through the regulator, and calculate, according to the instructions, how many turns of the handle are required to optimize the operation of the heating system.

Note! A number of manufacturers offer balancing valves with a digital display, but such devices are more expensive.

Cross section of the balancing valve

Principle of operation

Consider why balancing the heating system is necessary and how it happens. If several heating radiators are connected to a dead branch of the pipeline and are not equipped with thermostats, the coolant flow for each heating device will be constant. In order for each of the devices to get the required amount of heated water, a manual regulator is installed on the return line, at the point where the pipe is connected to the common line. Its valve is set to a certain number of revolutions in order to reduce or increase the diameter of the through hole.

But this option is not suitable for a system with a constantly changing coolant flow. In this case, a balancing valve is needed, the principle of which allows to reduce the volume of heated water supply by creating an obstacle in the flow path.

The manual balancer is designed to stabilize the coolant flow for 4-5 heating devices. If there are more radiators in the system, their heating will be uneven.

By setting the balancing valve for the heating system to the maximum flow rate, we get the following situation: the thermostat responsible for regulating any of the radiators will reduce the consumption of the heated coolant, as a result of which the pressure in the system will begin to gradually increase.

The balancing valve will receive a signal about the growing pressure (capillary tube is used for this) and will work, adjusting the fluid flow. Due to the fact that the thermostats on the remaining radiators do not have time to shut off the coolant supply, the pressure in the system and the coolant consumption will be balanced.

Design

Control valves vary in design. In the classic version, the device is equipped with a straight stem and a flat spool, the adjustment is due to a change in the flow area between the spool and the seat. The translational movement of the spool is provided by the rotation of the handle.

Equalizers are also produced with a rod located at an angle relative to the coolant flow, the spool can have a cone-shaped, radial or cylindrical shape, and be driven by a servo drive.

Balancing valve design

Device types

Balancing valve for a heating system, the principle of operation of which depends on design features, can be mechanical (manual) and automatic.

Mechanical balancer

A manual balancing valve is installed instead of classic shims and similar devices. The mechanical regulator is designed to work in a system with a constant pressure of the transported medium. Using a mechanical valve, you can not only ensure the required cross-section of the pipeline, but also disconnect a separate heating device from the network, drain the coolant from it through a special tap. The manual valve is inexpensive and can be equipped with devices to measure the pressure in the system on both sides of the regulator and the actual flow rate of the transported medium.

Mechanical balancing valve

Automatic balancer

Automatic balancing valve is a device that allows you to quickly change the operating parameters of an autonomous heating network in accordance with pressure drops and consumption of heated coolant. For each pipeline, automatic balancers are installed in pairs.

A balancer and a shut-off valve on the supply pipeline sets a limit on the flow of the coolant in accordance with the design requirements. A valve is mounted on the return line to prevent sudden pressure drops. This approach makes it possible to divide the heating system into separate sections that can function independently of each other. Pressure equalization and adjustment of the coolant supply are carried out automatically.

Automatic balancing valve

Applications

Balancing valve is also included:

  • In a small circulation circuit of a solid fuel heating boiler, closed to a heat accumulator. The regulator makes it possible to do without installation mixing unit to maintain the temperature of the coolant in the circuit at a level not lower than 60 degrees. The balancing valve on the supply pipe ensures that the flow rate in the boiler circuit is higher than in the heating circuit.
  • To regulate the operation of the boiler indirect heating. The balancer regulates the supply of heated coolant directly from the boiler to the coil installed in the tank with water for hot water supply.

Working Application of Balancing Valve

Installation and operation

The installation of the balancing valve is carried out according to the requirements of the manufacturer. If there is an arrow on the body, the device is mounted in such a way that the direction of the arrow coincides with the direction of the flow of the transported medium so that the valve can create the design resistance. Some manufacturers produce balancing valves that can be installed in any direction. The spatial arrangement of the stem in most cases is not important.

To prevent the valve from failing due to mechanical damage, a branded filter or a standard sump is installed in front of it. To avoid unwanted turbulence, valves are recommended to be installed on straight sections of the pipeline, the minimum length of which is indicated in the instructions from the manufacturer.

If the heating system is equipped with automatic valves, it should be filled through special filling fittings installed next to the valves on the return pipe, while the balancing valves on the supply pipe are closed.

The balancing valve is adjusted using a table with indicators of pressure drop and coolant flow (attached to the device) or using a flow meter for balancers. But the initial calculation of the flow rate and operating parameters must be performed at the design stage of the heating system.

Assembled structure balancing valve

So that everyone balancing crane functioned properly in the heating system, it is advisable to give preference to products from reputable manufacturers. These include regulators manufactured under the Danfoss trademark (Denmark), the Venturi series from BROEN BALLOREX (Poland).

Conclusion

Balance valves are recommended for use on all branches of the heating system, including underfloor heating circuits, as well as in the DHW system. This will optimize their work and save energy. It is important to choose high-quality devices, correctly mount them and configure them correctly.

The larger the heating system, the more difficult it is to ensure uniform distribution of heat to all rooms without exception, no matter how far from its source they are. In order for the temperature regime to be uniform, mechanisms are built into the heating network in different areas to adjust the heat flow. The most common and effective of them is the balancing valve in the heating system.

    Show all

    general characteristics

    There are several types of methods by which heat flow is regulated. In the first of them, pipes of different diameters are used to regulate the volume of coolant passing through the radiators. Another one is based on the use of special washers that correct the passage of the amount of heated water needed in this area.

    A detailed description of these methods is not of interest, since they are already outdated and are not used. A modern mechanism for adjusting the supply of coolant is the installation for heating balancing valve, consisting of:

    • durable brass body, equipped with pipes for connecting pipes, with a saddle located inside in the form of a special vertical channel;
    • a cone-shaped spindle screwed into the seat body to adjust the flow of the coolant;
    • rubber sealing rings;
    • plastic (less often - a metal cap).

    The main part of the device - two special fittings responsible for:

    • determination of intrasystem pressure on both sides of the valve;
    • capillary tube connection.

    Each of the fittings has a pressure meter, and in case of a difference in values, it is necessary to calculate the rational amount of water flow.

    Operating principle

    The principle of operation of the balancing valve in the heating system is to adjust the cross section of the through hole for the coolant inside the pipeline. With the help of the working elements of the valve, it is possible to adjust the heating system at any time without stopping its operation, to achieve a comfortable thermal regime in heated rooms with minimal energy consumption.

    Rotation of the adjusting handle causes the spindle to move up or down, respectively opening or closing the through hole in the pipe or reducing its cross section. Reducing the cross section of the through hole creates an obstacle to the movement of water, artificially increasing the flow rate. As a result, water reaches the remote circuits faster and with less heat loss. This ensures uniform heating of all rooms.

    With constant changes in operating pressure, it is important to ensure reliable tightness of the connections inside the valve. For the product of spindle o-rings use:

    • fluoroplast;
    • dense rubber;
    • metal.

    Valve types

    There are two types of valves: manual and automatic. Each of them has its own advantages. Manual balancing valve is more suitable for heating pipelines small size with stable pressure, usually installed in individual houses and apartments. Here, balancing valves are installed on each radiator.

    In addition to the individual configuration of each battery, if necessary, such a configuration provides repair individual elements systems without turning it off completely. Another advantage of a manual valve over an automatic valve is its lower cost.

    Automatic faucet

    Automatic devices for adjusting the supply of coolant are much more expensive than manual valves. They are installed on the risers of heating systems of apartment buildings, office buildings or industrial premises.

    The principle of operation of the automatic valve is not the same as that of a mechanical crane. With manual adjustment, the amount of coolant passing through the pipe per unit time depends on the flow area, which is set using the valve.

    And in the automatic system, the valve is constantly set to the maximum water flow; the pressure and quantity of the coolant supplied to the pipeline is regulated by means of thermostats and capillary tubes installed on the radiators.

    Balancing valve installation

    Each balancing valve has an arrow on the body that indicates in which direction the fluid should move inside the body in order to minimize turbulence that affects the correct settings. The arrow serves as a guide when mounting the mechanism on the pipeline.

    The device is installed on straight sections of pipes so that the length of the flat part of the pipe in front of the valve is at least five of its diameters and at least two at the outlet. You need to mount it in the return branch of the system, for this you only need a plumbing adjustable wrench.

    During installation work several rules must be followed. First, a mandatory check is carried out, followed by flushing and cleaning the pipeline from the possible presence of metal chips or other foreign objects in it.

    If the device has a removable head, it must be removed before installation, following the instructions. This makes it easier to install the valve. Then one end of the tap is screwed onto the pipe. The other end is connected to the radiator through a coupling. To seal the thread, it is necessary to use flax fiber threads impregnated with a special lubricant.

    Manual balancing valves - master class

    Setting methods

    After installing the balancing valve in the heating system, it must be set to energy-saving mode. To do this, each valve is supplied with instructions for calculating the optimal number of revolutions of the handle. The valve can be adjusted in two ways.

    Professionals use a simple and time-tested method. By dividing the number of valve turns by the number of radiators, they determine the corrective step for each valve. So, if the spindle speed is 4.5, and the number of radiators is 10, then the step is determined by 0.45 turns. The system will be optimally adjusted if each valve, starting from the last radiator, is open plus 0.45 turns.

    For a faster and more accurate second method, it is necessary to use a contact type thermometer. To adjust, you will need to heat the system to 80 degrees with all valves open and measure the temperature of each radiator separately. Temperature discrepancy is eliminated by screwing the first and middle taps. Usually 1.5 turns are enough for the first valve, and 2.5 turns for the middle ones. After allowing the system to adapt, after half an hour to make control measurements.

    The use of both methods eliminates temperature differentiation when heating radiators and promotes uniform heating of all rooms with a minimum consumption of thermal energy.

    The installation of balancing valves in the heating system ensures uniform heating of all rooms without exception and economical consumption of energy resources. This is especially necessary for large heating systems. This device best of all helps to distribute the coolant along its contours. But the technology of installation work should be considered even when designing the heating system, since the quality of the valve operation depends on its correct installation and configuration.

A balancing valve is a design designed to regulate the flow of coolant. Fluid consumption varies with pressure. The higher it is, the more liquid is consumed.

Devices are installed on risers, collectors and heating points. The balance of the system ensures uninterrupted operation.

Devices are divided into two types:

  • Manual (static) - used as a diaphragm. They are used in structures where there is no mechanical device or the regulator does not allow limiting the resource consumption. They are valve type designs.
  • Automatic (dynamic) support riser consumption and pressure.

More about hand equipment

The manual balancing valve is designed for use in the pipeline and provides the calculated distribution of water. It allows you to adjust the bandwidth and protects against unauthorized changes to settings.

It also blocks the flow of liquid through the pipeline. This ensures stable operation and prevents breakage of pipes, breakage of heating elements and pumps.

A manual shutoff/balancing valve can shut off the system. Some manual valves are paired with shut-off valves. With their help, hydraulic balancing is performed, and also its individual elements are turned off. Such valves are installed only on some systems.

The design is a valve type device. The spindle is moved by the handle. It has a scale with the number of revolutions, starting from the closed position. A stem is used under the cover to prevent maximum lift. Its task is to prevent reconfiguration. Measuring devices are connected using nipples.

For the longest possible service life of the structure, it is recommended to use a coolant that meets the standards.

It is advisable to install a strainer at the inlet to prevent clogging. The grid cell size should be no more than 0.5 mm.

The principle of operation of the manual balancing valve is as follows. With increasing pressure in the system, the parts change the flow value. After the change in resistance, the pressure returns to normal.

The advantages of such a device:

  • easy setting and its blocking;
  • convenient digital scale on the handle;
  • internal drain cock for double-sided drain;
  • the ability to open and close with a hex key;
  • in some models, the handle is removed in cramped conditions.

Important: the handle is removed when the settings are unlocked. To do this, set the setting to 0.0.

How to choose and install a manual balancing valve?

The manual balancing valve according to GOST has the following technical characteristics:

  • DN is the nominal diameter of the hole in the nozzles;
  • PN - nominal pressure, which ensures uninterrupted operation;
  • authority - is responsible for the regulatory ability;
  • the ability to pass Kvs - equals the flow of water through the structure;
  • consumption value;
  • logarithmic flow characteristic;
  • parabolic flow characteristic.

When choosing a balancing valve, the diameter of the pipeline is taken into account. It is connected with an internal threaded spigot.

Installation takes place in both horizontal and vertical positions. The pipeline must be flushed before installation.

It is necessary to leave straight sections before and after installation of the device. Before the device, this distance is equal to five pipe diameters, after - two. If this does not happen, the error will be up to 20%.

Important: when installing, the movement of water and the direction of the arrow must match.

The manual balancing valve can be coupled and flanged.

In the first case, it is attached with internal thread to the armature. In the second - with the help of bolts.

Raise the spindle to the desired height to adjust the design for the required throughput. The upper value is fixed by screwing in the limiter rod until it stops. The stem seat cover can be sealed to limit unauthorized changes to settings.

The process of installing and configuring a manual balancing valve is clearly shown in the video below. Be sure to check it out.

After watching the video, it becomes clear how this device functions. We see the stages of work, the sequence of execution and indicators that need to be monitored. They can be safely guided when installing a balancing valve, if you are doing this for the first time.

Manual Balanced Valve Installation Diagrams

The following can be distinguished:

  • For external networks, throttle networks are used. With their help, they limit the pressure and excessive consumption of the coolant. A manual valve cannot be used if devices are installed in the heating networks that regulate the supply of heat carrier, depending on the heat demand.
  • Branched systems of cooling, heating and water supply with the help of these devices solve the problem of excess pressure.

The operation of the balancing valve is shown below.

Scheme for the correct inclusion of equipment

When branching, it often happens that there is an overflow of fluid in one direction. In contrast, in another - a small expense.

To equalize the pressure, this device is specially installed. As a result, there is an average consumption everywhere. The device is not used with a small circuit circuit.

You can buy a manual balancing valve in specialized online stores, and many companies advertise them themselves.
