Have you thought, dear readers, that it can be used as ... a material for the manufacture of art objects. Although it may not be art, as such, in its literal sense, but a decoration for the garden - a small sculpture, it is quite possible to do. Indeed, polyurethane foam is unusually plastic, quickly hardens and is easily processed - why not material for creativity?

Today I will tell you how to make polyurethane foam sculpture of a stork to decorate your garden or suburban area. There are very few materials needed, and they are very cheap. If you pay attention to how much garden sculptures in hardware stores, you will understand that the price of a pair of foam cylinders is incommensurate with their cost. In addition, the stork will work out much better for us. So let's get started.

stork frame

To begin with, we will select a suitable body for the stork - a frame on which foam will be sprayed. A plastic canister from under water with a capacity of 5 liters will do just fine. We make the neck of the stork from wire, and to add volume, you can wrap strips of foam plastic on the wire. The legs of the stork can also be made from wire, and the nose and head can be cut out either from foam or from wood - whichever is more convenient and preferable.

Sculpture making

After making a simple frame, we proceed to spray foam on our sculpture - we do it carefully, presenting the contours of the finished stork. To make it easier, print out a large bird. If the foam does not fall as you intended, no problem - after drying, the excess is easily removed with a knife. By the way, if you wish, you can use real bird feathers for the tail - who knows, maybe you can do it instead of a peacock stork. After the foam has dried and finished with a knife, we paint the sculpture with ordinary acrylic paint, fix it in place in the garden, and invite friends to appreciate your creative genius. Good luck!

An old legend says that God gathered all the reptiles from the Garden of Eden into one bag and ordered the man to throw him into the sea with his own hands. And the curious Homo sapiens wanted to look at the creatures, untied the bag, and, of course, missed everyone. Vladyka got angry and turned this man into a stork so that he would protect other people from all kinds of toads and snakes. Since then, storks have always settled near a person, feed on reptiles and bring us happiness.

Many old pictures depict a stork with a baby. Among the Slavic peoples, it is customary to believe that this particular bird is responsible for childbearing and well-being. If storks settled on the roof, the house will be full of happiness and children's laughter. And if you haven’t settled, then a wonderful stork with a baby can be made with your own hands from improvised material and installed on a skate or on an apple tree in the center of the garden.

bottled happiness

It will take

To make a stork out of plastic bottles for the garden, we need to prepare the following materials:

  • empty bottles;
  • thick wide board for the base;
  • a rod or thick wire for legs;
  • a piece of foam 10 cm thick;
  • corrugated hose from a vacuum cleaner;
  • 2 plastic canisters with a volume of 5 l;
  • metal mesh for wings;
  • stapler.

Master class on making happiness

It only takes a few hours of passionate DIY work to make almost real storks appear on the paths of your garden.

  • Cut out a head with a beak from a piece of foam, draw eyes or glue black beads with your own hands.

  • Cut out a two-piece beak from a dark bottle and glue it in place.

  • We begin the master class on making the torso by cutting off the handle in the canister. Then you need to bend the mesh in the shape of a canister with your own hands and cut off the excess.

  • To make the legs, bend the bar and fasten its ends to the board.

  • We are holding a master class on the preparation of plastic feathers.

  • We attach the feathers to the canister, starting with the tail.
  • The master class on fitting the neck begins with attaching the reinforcement wire. Then a hose is put on it.

  • Attach small "feathers" on the neck with tape.

  • Fix the feathers on the grid.

  • The stork for our garden will stand with its wings folded, so we simply fasten all the feathers with a stapler with our own hands, overlapping each previous row by a third.

  • We finish the master class by connecting all the details and decorative tinting of the eyes, beak and legs. This bird can be installed with your own hands in the depths of the garden for the whole summer. It will not deteriorate from the rain and will not fly away.

Today's fashionable toys are hand-sewn from ordinary fabric according to simple patterns. We will not fully describe the master class for their manufacture.

  • Cut out the details of the craft from the fabric, sew and stuff with any filler.
  • Separately, you need to make a beak (can be made of cardboard) and attach to the head. It remains to make clothes, glue eyes, wrap the baby and hand it to the stork.

Of course, you cannot place such a wet bird on the branches of the garden, but it can decorate a flower pot on the windowsill.

Another way to make your home rich and happy is to make a stork on a nest. As a basis, you can take patterns of a tilde bird. Cut feathers out of plastic white milk bottles, fasten them together and make wings, decorating the ends with real feathers. Place a few white feathers on top of your head. Form a tail out of real feathers, sew or glue eyes and a tie, and plant the bird in the nest.

It can be made from ordinary rods, fastened with wire. To get a stork with a baby, put any doll in his wings. The master class on making a lucky amulet is over.

These two rag birds cannot be left on the paths of the garden, and the master class for making the first stork requires a lot of time and materials. Do not be upset and just make a nest and cut a flat bird out of textolite or plywood. Color it in, give it a string bag with a baby doll in its beak and that's it, the stork with the baby has already settled on your roof.

We all know the song from childhood "Stork on the Roof - Peace on Earth" for a long time. And Alena Zinovieva, already familiar to us from the village of Chastaya Oakwood, decided to plant a couple of white storks in love in her garden, which symbolize peace in her friendly family. These beautiful birds are also made from waste material : plastic foam, metal mesh, plastic bottles and plastic cans.

For the manufacture of storks we need:

1. Two canisters of 5 liters
2. Metal mesh for wings
3. Strong wire
4. Plastic tubes for legs and neck
5. Styrofoam for the head
6. White milk bottles
7. Dark beer 1.5l
8. Hose from a vacuum cleaner (can be replaced with a corrugation)

1. For the head I use construction foam 10 cm wide

2. I cut out the workpiece, highlight the eye sockets, make a flat beak.

3. I grind to smoothness with sandpaper, insert eyes (or beads)

4. I glue the eyelids, strengthen the beak with a part from a plastic bottle, gluing it to the “Titan”. At the second stork, I make the beak open.

5. For the body I take 5 liters. canister.

6. I cut off the handle.

7. I bend the mesh in the shape of a canister - this STORK will have wings folded.

8. I round off the "wings".

9. I bend the wire for the legs.

10. A liter milk bottle is cut into 6 feathers.

11. I cut feathers.

12. I start to fasten the feathers from the lower part of the body.

13. I strengthen the wire for the neck and put a hose on it.

14. I fasten a number of feathers to the hose with self-tapping screws.

15. Side view.

16. I cut the halves of milk bottles with a fringe and fasten them around the neck with adhesive tape.

17. I start with the flight feathers on the edge of the wing.

18. The second row overlaps the first by one third.

19. The third and subsequent rows of white bottles.

20. Paws from 0.5 l bottles.

21. Making the body for the second stork.

22. As with the first one, I cut off a part of the canister from above - it is necessary for screwing the feathers.

23. I cover the body with feathers, but, unlike the first, I fasten the feathers to the entire canister.

24. This stork's wings are slightly open. The first row of feathers from 1.5 l bottles (6 pcs from one)

25. I screw the second row only on the rounding of the wing.

26. The third is for the whole wing.

27. I make the tail - it is short, the feathers are slightly divorced.

28. Turn the wings over to screw the feathers onto the underside.

29. The last row, covering the edge of the wing, is made from feathers bent in half, rounded on both sides.

30. Approximately so it looks.

31. Each of the subsequent feathers closes the junction of the previous one.

And we will soon meet again with Alena and her new works.

  • 2 wooden beams: thick and wide (will serve as a base);
  • thick aluminum wire (you can use a rod) to make the lower limbs;

First you need to start making the head and beak of the bird. These parts are cut out of foam. On the surface, you can either draw eyes with black paint or glue 2 black buttons (you can use beads).

The beak itself must be cut out of a dark plastic bottle. It will consist of 2 parts, glued to the head. To get the body of a bird, you need to cut off the handle from the canister.

Bending tightly around the contour of the canister, bend metal mesh. Remove excess material. You can perform the lower limbs if you bend a rod, the ends of which should be fixed in a wooden block. Plastic feathers are cut from bottles. They are attached to the base of the canister. Attach the tail first.

You can plant the neck of a stork by fastening the wire to the armature. The next step is to put the prepared hose on the wire. Since the feathers on the neck should be small, they are attached with tape. Feathers along the body are fixed on a metal mesh.

Since the bird in the garden will be upright, its wings will be folded. They need to be fixed with a stapler. Feathers should be arranged so that the details of each subsequent row overlap the previous row by 1/3. This will give the craft naturalness and naturalness.

The master class ends with the fastening of individual elements. To give the product maximum attractiveness, you can perform decorative tinting of the beak, eyes, legs. The craft can stand on the street throughout the summer, it is not afraid of bad weather.

Alternative product

The original DIY stork for the garden can be complemented by a baby in the nest. The implementation of this option will help to make the home happy and bring prosperity and well-being to the house. For the manufacture of a stork sitting in a nest, patterns of the Tilda bird are used as the basis. This is a fairly modern and fashionable home-made toy made of fabric. Patterns for her are simple.

Cut out of dense and durable fabric individual elements crafts. The pieces are sewn together with a thread. To give the body volume, you need to fill it with any filler, so you don’t need to completely stitch the bird right away. Burlap, sawdust, straw, feathers, unnecessary flaps, etc. can act as a filler. After completing the filling stage, the hole is completely sewn up.

The beak is made separately. To create it, you need a strong red cardboard. The finished part is attached to the already made head. You can sew clothes. Unusual option

Noteworthy is the master class on making a stork, which is based on a large plastic bottle with a volume of 6 liters. To make the head, you need to use foam, which will need to be carefully cut. Do not forget about the shape of the beak and eyes. Black pebbles can act as eyes, which are fixed with glue.

The beak can be made from an ordinary plastic bottle. It also sticks to the head. A large plastic bottle will act as the body. It needs to cut off the neck. Special metal mesh - wings. If the bird's wings are bent, it is necessary to make appropriate bends on the grid.

The legs are made of wire, which is folded in several layers. Feathers will be from light-colored plastic bottles. They are cut so that individual feathers look realistic. Fixing is done with a wire to the wings themselves.

To make the neck look voluminous, the bottles need to be finely chopped, you get a fringe. They are arranged in rows. Small bottles are put on the paws, which are also cut at the base. If the fixation of parts seems weak, then the fastening process can be carried out using self-tapping screws.

Making a stork is not a very long and difficult undertaking. To bring the idea to life, you can use the above recommendations. However, you can make certain adjustments to the idea that will allow you to create a unique and original product.

First, decide where you will place the stork figure, because it depends on what base the craft will have. Traditionally, such figures are mounted on trees, building a nest of branches under them. But you can place a stork on the roof of the house or in a flower bed on the ground.

We decided to make a whole composition, which will include not one, but two figures of a stork, if you repeat everything exactly after us, you will get the same thing.

Prepare the following materials ahead of time

Plastic bottles.
- Wide board.
-Metal rod or thick enough wire.
- A sheet of foam plastic with a thickness of at least 10 centimeters.
- Corrugated hose, can be used, left, for example, from an old vacuum cleaner.
- Plastic canisters with a volume of at least 5 liters.
-Metal mesh, from which we will make wings for the bird.
-Stapler.

How to make a stork figure

Despite the fact that the figure turns out to be spectacular, it will take only a few hours to create it.

First of all, with a sharp knife, cut out the bird's head from the foam plastic with a base under the beak. Immediately make eyes, you can draw them, or glue black beads instead.

Cut out a beak from a bottle of a suitable color. Ours consists of two parts. Do everything exactly as in the photo. The finished beak is glued to the head.

Now let's create the bird's body. For this purpose, we have prepared a canister, from which we will immediately cut off the handle so that the shape is close to the real body of the stork. We attach a mesh to the body, bent in the shape of a canister. We cut off the excess parts immediately.

We make the legs from a rod, and we prepared the board as the base of the figure. Attach the rod to the board as shown in the photo.

Now let's move on to the most interesting: we will decorate the figure with plastic spoons. Start with the tail, gradually moving further along the body.

The head and body are connected with a wire, and to make the neck look natural, we put a corrugated hose on the wire. From plastic bottles, we make slips so that they look like feathers.

Also, the carved elements of the bottles go to the feathers of the wings. Lay so that each next row partially overlaps the previous one. You can fasten the plastic together with a stapler.

At the last stage, we connect all the details together. It turned out the figure of a bird, but to give it the greatest realism, it should be correctly painted. Pay attention to what details of the figure are painted.

Having the skill of making a stork figure, you can make other bird figures: plastic bottles and spoons make an excellent imitation of plumage.
